Thirteen-year-old Jesse is a typical teenager who hates his teacher, Mrs. Fink. While visiting a vintage clothing shop, Jesse sees a doll that looks exactly like his dreaded teacher, and he convinces the shopkeeper to sell it to him. When Jesse accidentally pierces the doll's arm with a sewing needle, he is shocked to find Mrs. Fink with her arm in a sling the next day and gets spooked when a spot on the doll's face appears, exactly where Mrs. Fink has a mole.

Why was the doll in this scarier than the one in Annabelle?

I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid and saw it was on Tubi TV. I couldn't not watch it...

A lot better than I expected it to be to be honest. The doll/effects are pretty good for a TV movie with a small budget.

Seeing Shelley Duvall pop up as the teacher made me scream.

Canada's answer to the Cryptkeeper, moldy Mac Tonight-lookin' chungus bookends kiddo horror that never needed to be feature-length but at least you get a scene of the janky Shelley Duvall doll eating homework like the Tazmanian Devil.

Jesse, a lazy kid with a very pragmatic friend, forgets to do his Canadian Civil War homework and then bullies an elderly shopkeep into giving him a rare Samara doll. This decidedly unsafe toy comes with assorted curses and powers, and commences screwing with everyone's life through eldritch trickery.

Shelley Duvall's fun as the teacher who has the gall to want her students to do their homework, and the doll is quite creepy, even when it's just hanging out, giving Jesse a piece of its mind. The kid actors are... acceptable, and Margot Kidder shows up as an excitable fount of voodoo exposition.

This is fine for a horror movie directed at teens, even if it is about thirty minutes worth of actual content stretched out to a solid ninety minutes.

This shot-in-Toronto television movie is aiming for Goosebumps-meets-Cryptkeeper vibes but can only manage it half the time.

Adapted from a series of books (only two were made in total) this has Shelly Duvall as an "evil teacher" (how dare she want this kid to do his HOMEWORK!) who meets her match when a kid finds a doll that he can use to cause her pain/control her etc. but i think someone set the switch on it to EVILLL!!!

Some moments promise something a lot better (opening with a sweet dream sequence, anything involving the doll talking or winking or being spooky) but there's a lot of filler throughout.

Not the worst movie of its kind but also you can do better.

Hmm. Still better than the first Annabelle movie. This one really stretched for its 90 minutes. If you're in the mood for this 90s kid friendly horror content, I'd recommend spending that time watching a few episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark instead. Has a couple moments that stood out.. the nightmare near the start where a giant Shelly Duvall tears the roof off the kid's house set the bar pretty high. Never came back from that though.

This was based off a book series I never heard of. They made two movies and this was one of them. It involves a kid who's not doing great in school so he buys a doll that is voodolly linked to his teacher and does sick twisted things to it. I think the kids the real monster.

This could have been 22 minutes.

Surprisingly not shit children's horror that starts with a cheesy Tales From The Crypt Cryptkeeper style opening which almost had me hovering over the off button on my remote. Thankfully I kept it on,this is how Annabelle should have gone down.Ironically a kid in the show is called Annabelle which I found ironically amusing. Check out a homage to Tales Of Terror-listen to how the doll crys at one point. X-files gets mentioned. Good fun that's sad this little film is not more well known. Probably due to its awful Crypkeeper knock off opening and closing.

My teacher ate my homework, which I thought was rather odd. He sniffed at it and smiled with an approving sort of nod.

He took a little nibble — it’s unusual, but true — then had a somewhat larger bite and gave a thoughtful chew.

I think he must have liked it, for he really went to town. He gobbled it with gusto and he wolfed the whole thing down.

He licked off all his fingers, gave a burp and said, “You pass.” I guess that’s how they grade you when you’re in a cooking class.
