When it comes to disconnecting BSNL connection be it your broadband, landline, WiMAX or mobile, things will get easier for people like you and me if we at least know the basic requirements and process of surrendering or closing one’s BSNL connection.

Today, in this guide I will explain you the complete process of surrendering BSNL connection so that you do not need to go to BSNL office twice to complete the disconnection process.

After reading this guide from Bpedia, you will be able to get a detail information about how to disconnect BSNL broadband, Landline, WiMAX, Mobile and WLL/EVDO(CDMA) connection. I have also attached BSNL surrender form and letter/application on this article.

So, let’s dive right in.

What you need to know before surrendering your BSNL connection

A calculating total bill.

Firstly , you have to pay all the outstanding dues (including current month’s due) before closing your connection.

So, how do you know how much dues you have to pay?

Simply go to BSNL portal and select your type of connection from the top menu bar. For example, if you have a BSNL landline or broadband connection then choose Landline or if you are using BSNL mobile or WiMAX or a CDMA service, then click on Mobile.

Once you select your type of connection, put details such as your Landline number, Mobile number, Email ID etc and submit. After submitting you will get to see how much money you have to pay.

P.S : If you have already paid the bill, it will show ‘0’ as the outstanding amount.

Please remember, you also need to pay the current month’s bill to complete the disconnection process and unfortunately, this portal won’t show you the running month’s bill. So how do we check it?

Don’t worry…. I will show you how to check it.

One way of checking your unbilled amount for the running month is by logging into BSNL selfcare portal  and then by going to Bills and Payment section and Selecting  View Bills . Under that, you will be able to see your current bill details.

The second method is by calling BSNL customer care center ( 18003451500 for Landline/Broadband and 18001801503 for Mobile and WiMAX).

P.S: If somehow, you are unable to find your running month bill from above mentioned two methods, simply estimate an approximate amount in addition to the bill that we have viewed on BSNL portal.

B Packing belongings that you have got from BSNL

If you have rented any device from BSNL, you need to give them back. For example, if you have rented the Telephone receiver for your landline connection or a Broadband Modem or a WiMAX device from BSNL then you gotta return them all.

However, if you have purchased it, then you can keep them with you.

So, pack your bag with all these belongings if you have any.

C Download BSNL disconnection or surrender form 

Next up, Download BSNL surrender form or disconnection form and fill the details accordingly.

Put your address correctly on the form, because the security money that you had deposited at the time of connection will be sent via a cheque on that address.

And the final step is…

D Writing a surrender letter

if i want to keep the landline but disconnect the broadband then What do I write? Do I need to clear the due or it will come with the bills as My connection is still active for the landline.

Hi Shesadri, i am sorry for late response. No, you do not need to pay anything if you want to close your broadband only, however you have to return the modem if you had rented it from BSNL.

When can we apply for disconnection ? any day in a month ? because once i was visited bsnl office on 24th date of a month they said bill generation is in process so come next month on or after date 10.

Yes you can close the connection on any day. Maybe they wanted to check the bill for the current month, so they told you to come after the bill generation date. These type of things varies from place to place and you have to cooperate them, thats the only way to get it done. And i apologise for late response.

The Connection is in my father’s name and he passed away 4 years back. There is no dues… BSNL is not accepting the surnder ( Attached the death certificate and last payment bill copy) seems the procedure is complex. The connection has to be changed to my name for which i need to get no objection letter from my siblings , transfer to my name and close the connection … Is there is any simple way to close….

Today I surrendered. The process was very smooth, as given. Better to on 1st of the month. January bill amount will be adjusted against advance, NEFT will be done. So you have to write details for that on your surrender letter. I appreciate the BSNL staff of Bangalore for courteous and prompt service. Hi, I have not paid the bill for 4 years, few days back i got notice to pay the bill 3408 rs. So when i went to bsnl office they calculated and told me to pay 2000rs.i paid amount and received receipt. Yes it’s true. No need to fill up and submit surrender form. The outstanding notice people are getting from BSNL are for closed connections.

Hi… i have submitted the form to surrender my landline connection on 15th nov 2018. The disconnection process started on 24th nov 2018( line got disconnected) the i have submitted the receiver instrument on 4th dec 2018 and got the receipt. Hi Amit, if you have security deposit more than your bill(from 1st of Nov to 24th of Nov), then no neeed to pay. Just go to the BSNL office with a canceled cheque and submit it. They can adjust the bill with security deposit. But if you have a pending bill more than the security deposit, you might need to pay the additional amount calculated after adjusting the deposit.

Yes, you can still close it. I would say 5th or 6th day of any month would be an appropriate time to close the connection because on this day new invoice gets generated.

• Approach the nearby BSNL CSC office . Don’t forget to carry a landline instrument with you.
• If you are surrendering a Broadband connection also then carry the modem / CPE provided by BSNL
• Submit an application for disconnection/ surrender BSNL landline and pay all due amounts there at BSNL CSC on the spot.
• Deposit the landline instrument/ modem/ CPE in the BSNL office.
• Your landline/ broadband connection will be disconnected within two days.
• Now, wait for a refund of the security money that you deposited at the time of the new connection.

Step 3: Click on services

On signing in, you'll be redirected to BSNL customer care portal. Click on ‘ Service 'button located at the top left corner of your screen.

Step 4: Select Submit a service request

After clicking the service button, you'll be redirected to a new page where you'll see "Submit a Service Request." Click on it.

Step 5: Enter Service ID

You'll be asked for the Service ID and Request type (in this case disconnection) along with other basic information. Fill the details accordingly and click on submit to disconnect.
