If you’re looking to transition into homeworking, here’s an A-Z guide to help you find the right company for you

Homeworking

Homeworking companies have mushroomed in recent years, which is great news in terms of choice but does mean you have to weigh up the pros and cons of the different offerings. Here’s a helping hand if you’re tempted to break into the sector but are unsure where to start researching.

BRILLIANT TRAVEL

Part of Barrhead Travel, one of the UK’s largest independent travel groups, Brilliant Travel homeworkers pay a monthly fee of £65, receive access to Barrhead’s own products and have the freedom to book what they want. A few years’ experience is needed to join its network of 25 homeworkers. Contact: brillianttravel.co.uk/home-based-agents ; [email protected]

DESIGNER TRAVEL

Hays Travel’s academy models help those with no previous travel experience or who have been out of travel for 10 years or more (£8,000 + VAT).

“After a career of over 30 years I found myself in a management role I didn’t enjoy and realised what I loved most was creating perfect holidays for clients. I took action and created my own dream job. We want positive, passionate individuals for a small, friendly team that encourages each other and celebrates success. Your greatest asset as a homeworker is a positive, forward-thinking, creative mindset. Flexibility and reacting to the needs of the consumer, technology, personal travel experiences, in-depth training and a thorough understanding of the industry are invaluable for clients and post-Covid are valued more than ever."

Joan Jones, owner and founder, Once in a Lifetime Holidays

HOLIDAY ELITE/YOUR HOLIDAY BOOKING

Both these brands are part of Vertical Travel Group, which is a member of Midcounties Co-operative. Holiday Elite’s 60 homeworkers and Your Holiday Booking’s 145 homeworkers have the flexibility to run their own business while accessing 24/7 support. For new joiners, travel industry experience is essential, ideally holiday sales. No joining fee; monthly system fee is £20 + VAT.

Contact: holidayelite.com/recruitment ; yourholidaybooking.com/career-contact.php; [email protected]

HOLIDAYSPLEASE

Part of Hays Travel Independence Group, and now owned by Travel Counsellors, award-winning Holidaysplease typically attracts ex-travel agency managers/owners. InteleTravel UK

“After the pandemic many businesses made promises of ‘working from home’ to allow more flexibility in the way people work. Forbes recently reported that businesses are winning the battle to get workers back into the office and are backtracking on previous promises. The reality is homeworking affords huge flexibility, allows families to collect children from schools and promotes a healthy lifestyle. We have one PTC who works from Barbados and another in Tenerife – these examples showcase the benefits of homeworking!”   "On a practical level, try to segregate your work space from your home space, find an area, ideally a room, where you can create a professional office area. Comfort is key: You’ll be spending a considerable amount of time in your workspace, so create a space that you’re looking forward to being in, ensure minimalism within your office to maximise your productivity, and definitely treat yourself to a comfy chair!" Abbie Heaton, sales manager, Personal Travel Consultants

Contact: personalholidayadvisors.com/recruitment

"We have an excellent training programme for all our new “holiday fixers”. I personally mentor all my fixers to ensure they understand all aspects of the business so they feel confident and will become a successful part of the team. The onboarding programme helps our fixers understand the brand, identify their customers, learn how to use the systems and develop their knowledge of our products and suppliers. We don’t provide leads, but give full training on how to grow your travel business. A positive, can-do attitude is really all we ask for as the rest will be taught during onboarding programme."

"Homeworking is a more eco-friendly way to work, saving on travel costs to and from an office. Now that we all communicate much more online it is much easier for homeworkers to stay connected with their team and build up a good, supportive network without the need to be based in an office. Working from home doesn’t mean you miss out on travel perks. There are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of free trips to explore the destinations and hotels that you are selling. We attend lots of face-to-face training and our key suppliers hold webinars for us too.”   Britt-Marie Monks, director, The Holiday Fixer

“The pandemic brought the value of using a travel professional into sharp focus. There’s also a growing trend to “support local”, and travel agents running their own businesses are perfectly placed to serve their local communities. Add to this the opportunity to connect with a wider audience through social media, and the potential for homeworking is enormous. Becoming a self-employed homeworker can transform lives from a mental wellbeing perspective too.”   "Do your homework when choosing which homeworking organisation you join…. find a business and people you connect with both professionally and personally. Talk to the homeworkers within that business for the first-hand views." "We are always on the lookout for quality, entrepreneurial agents. We are excited by candidates’ ideas to build their businesses and we provide personalised support to bring those ideas to life." Sheena Whittle, head of The Personal Travel Agents

We want to ensure we can support potential Travelosophers fully and so we would always start with a few detailed conversations on the kind of business you are looking to create. "My previous experience working for a call centre from home has demonstrated that having everyone in the office all the time isn't always necessary. This arrangement allows travel agents to work around their lifestyle and have the flexibility to work when they want (as in our case, where homeworkers are self-employed). Additionally, it provides agents the chance to attend more events, work while traveling abroad, and meet clients at their local cafes. Overall, this setup offers general flexibility that can benefit everyone involved." “Homeworking allows travel agents to work around their lifestyle. Paul was very efficient, friendly and extremely helpful. The whole booking process with Paul was easy and very straight forward. The confirmation email was in my inbox immediately after making my booking.

The agent was very helpful

While the web experience was not the best one (difficult to process the booking online), your agent was very helpful, looking for the best solution for my needs, fast and very friendly.

Absolutely awful customer service

Absolutely awful customer service. Needed to cancel/amend a single night hotel stay in London due to a family member being rushed into hospital. Hotel said it was fine to do and no charge but the change had to come from Inspire. inspire showed no compassion and insisted on wanting to charge an admin. All that despite their email confirmation stating it was free to change or cancel a booking by a certain date. Emailed their MD and she likes to be clever and wind people up with her responses so you can see why the service is like it is.

Reply from Inspire

Hi Mr Andrews. I am so sorry you felt like this. I can now see we have resolved this matter for you, I do hope the family member is soon better and I am truly sorry for any inconvenience.

Total rip off just book yourself

The agents were helpful and friendly however we only used inspire because we were given a voucher for Christmas. They added a huge fee and are a complete rip off for what we could have booked ourselves 80£ cheaper

Many Thanks to Paul Warrington for showing great resilience when booking my holiday. He made the booking a breeze.

Julie Newsam is a Star

The website for booking is not accepting payments in euro gift cards and I called customer service. Julie Newsam was an absolute star: patient, helpful, personable, professional. She is fantastic! She made the whole experience bright and easy-breezy!

Paul is the "Go-to Guy"

Paul was so helpful finding me the perfect getaway, he had personal experience and gave me some tips. He seemed to genuinely care about making the most if my experience, hugely recommend!

Went above and beyond!

Went too book online and needed some help with my booking. got put through to coral who was very helpful and actually managed to get me some money off my trip by checking her various platforms. unfortunately we couldn't process the holiday as the system went down so i was told that Julie would book it the following morning. however i got a call from Julie at 18:50 after she had got home and went above and beyond to help me get my trip booked! she very helpful and a true lady! Couldn't thank them enough for their help!

Hi Sonny - ahh lovely words - Thank you, This will mean the world to Julie who is often helping out in her own time - she really does love her job - We wish you the happiest of holidays.

Great Experience

Had such a lovely experience with Donna over the phone, she was able to resolved our queries and sort some new accommodation immediately! Ref DH1

Date of experience : 27 May 2024

Hi Rach, This is wonderful thank you, Donna has been with Inspire many many years and we are very lucky to have her on board.

Holiday using Family Fund voucher

Holiday using Family Fund voucher I booked our trip through Paul. This was the first package holiday that I had booked for many decades so I did have quite a few questions. Paul explained everything to me very clearly and I found him to be very friendly and quick to get back to me with the required details. He is handling the booking of transfers and special assistance for my disabled child and that takes a weight off my own shoulders. Let's hope the holiday which is booked for the autumn is a big success!

Date of experience : 09 May 2024

Hi Lenka , thank you for completing this feedback for Paul I will ensure this is passed onto him, Paul is very efficient and knowledgeable in making bookings for disabled families and we are so glad this has made your booking much smoother and lifted some additional weight off arranging some assisted travel for you. We hope you have a wonderful trip thanks Again team Inspire

Rip off £500 gift voucher

DO NOT TRANSFER YOUR GIFT VOUCHER HERE Had a £500 gift voucher, went onto the jet2 site, and thought you could add a voucher code at the end, OH NO!! You have to book it through them, which is double the jet2 price (for a jet2 holiday) with half of the things taken off. Total rip off. This gift voucher is pointless. And I did wonder when it said tick to understand that you can't change your mind,, why would you want to change your mind? Now I understand. I wonder what the FCA and Ombudsman will think to this practice 🤔

Date of experience : 19 May 2024

Hi Michelle, I am so sorry you have felt the need to write this review. However we are most certainly not double the price of jet 2. You have to book with Inspire as its an Inspire voucher but if you e mail [email protected] with the information you have found and we can happily look at the quote for you.

No More CPAP? What to Know About Inspire Sleep Apnea Treatment

Ads for the surgically implanted device suggest an easy fix for the common sleep disorder. Here’s the truth about the benefits, risks, and limitations.

Illustration of someone sleeping using the Inspire device.

For people who snore, a diagnosis of sleep apnea can be a big relief. The condition, which causes people to stop breathing repeatedly while sleeping, is linked to a higher risk of stroke, heart failure, and dementia over time—and can leave people exhausted during the day. Fortunately, the gold standard treatment is highly effective and generally covered at least in part by insurance.

But that treatment is not a simple pill. When people with sleep apnea snooze, soft tissue in the back of the throat collapses as their muscles relax, blocking the upper airway. The best fix for this is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine . Using one involves sleeping next to a humming machine while wearing a mask that pumps air into your airway, keeping it open. “There’s a lot of stigma about using CPAP,” says Rafael Sepulveda, MD, a sleep and obesity medicine specialist in Sonoma, Calif.

There are a wide range of alternative treatments for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) depending on the severity of the condition. But in recent years, one heavily marketed treatment known as Inspire, which debuted in 2014, has become more popular. The company’s annual revenue has soared from about $29 million in 2017 to $408 million in 2022.

Here’s what sleep medicine experts say about the Inspire implant and similar devices that may come on the market soon: how they compare with CPAP, whom they work well for, and who shouldn’t get one.

What Is Inspire?

Inspire is an implantable upper airway stimulation device that stabilizes a person’s throat during sleep in order to prevent obstruction of the airway. It is currently the only FDA-approved implant for OSA. (Another device is currently undergoing clinical trials .)

The appeal of such a device is easy to see: pressing a button on a remote before falling asleep seems far less burdensome than turning on a machine and sleeping while wearing a mask. And doctors say that in patients who fit the eligibility criteria, these devices significantly improve sleep apnea symptoms.

But getting the Inspire involves a surgery, with a device that is likely to be implanted in someone’s body for the rest of their life. And sleep medicine experts say these should only be used in people who can’t use CPAP and who fit the eligibility criteria exactly. CPAP treatment is far less invasive, and if Inspire is not the right fit, it might not even help.

Ads for these devices—“No mask. No hose. Just sleep.”—can make it look like OSA can be solved with the click of a button on a remote. But it’s not that simple, says Dennis Abbott, 53, a resident of Austin, Texas, who has used Inspire for two years.

Abbott previously used CPAP for about a year and a half, and it worked well for his sleep apnea. But in his case, CPAP also led to a complication called aerophagia: a condition where people swallow air into their GI tract, which can cause significant discomfort. His otolaryngologist recommended he get checked out for the Inspire implant, and it turned out he fit the very specific qualifications that make someone a good fit for the device. (More on those below.)

Now, he says, he has adjusted well to the implant—and is even able to go on backpacking trips with it, something that’s not possible with a full CPAP setup. “It’s amazingly more convenient,” he says.

But a device like Inspire won’t work for everyone, and most people can find relief with a less invasive, nonsurgical option. Sleep experts like Sepulveda say that if you can treat OSA without invasive surgery, that’s the preferred option.

In general, most private insurance will cover Inspire only if a patient with at least moderate sleep apnea has tried to make CPAP work but has not been successful. Meeting the candidate criteria for the implant is also an important factor.

To see all of CR’s sleep coverage, go to our  Guide to Better Sleep .

Treating Sleep Apnea

For milder cases of OSA , some people can find relief with oral appliances like a mouthguard that helps position the jaw, and lifestyle changes including weight loss and avoiding sleeping on their back.

But for most people with moderate to severe sleep OSA—defined as having 15 or more full or partial airway collapses, known as apnea and hypopnea events (AHI) per hour—the standard treatment is CPAP . “It’s highly effective, it has a good risk profile, and it’s noninvasive,” says Luu Pham, MD, an assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, who specializes in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. “The main thing is [getting used to] sleeping with it on your face.”

That can be a challenge. Three months after starting treatment, almost 30 percent of people don’t consistently use their CPAP, according to one 2020 study . That study also found high levels of variance depending on age and sex. Young women were much less likely to use their devices regularly than older men, for example.

Still, the image of the bulky, hard-to-use machine with a full-face mask is antiquated, Sepulveda says. That’s based on media portrayals as well as the notion that masks and CPAP devices are invasive and loud.

In fact, there are more than 100 subtypes of masks as well as adjustable settings in CPAP devices to help users achieve a comfortable and effective therapy. There are also similar machines, like a bilevel positive airway pressure machine (referred to as BPAP or BiPAP), that doctors can use in patients with poor tolerance or more complex breathing problems during sleep. Once setting adjustments and the right mask are found for a particular patient, most will tolerate it pretty well, Sepulveda says. (For more on finding a CPAP setup that works for you, see our previous coverage .)

If CPAP still isn’t working, there are also surgical options. Those that reshape the airway are most effective when there is an anatomical cause for OSA, though because of the inherent risks of surgery, they should still be considered only after trying CPAP, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. If you are the right fit, you can also consider an implant like Inspire.

How Inspire Works

Inspire contains three components: a battery-powered pacemaker-like device implanted in the upper chest, a breathing sensor, and a cuff placed on the hypoglossal nerve, which controls the tongue. These components work together to move the tongue forward during sleep, to keep the airway open. The pacemaker-like component of the device is implanted under the skin and may be visible, depending on the patient; if so it looks like a slight bulge on the chest.

If doctors determine a patient is a good fit, a surgeon will install the system. The procedure itself takes about 2 hours and is done under general anesthesia. After surgery, the recovery period may be more intense than many expect. “Surgery was intense, the recovery was fairly painful,” Abbott says.

Doctors wait a month after installation before turning the device on the first time, giving the body some time to heal.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Inspire?

There are very specific qualifications required to make someone a good candidate for Inspire, Sepulveda says.

First, doctors need to be certain that the main problem for these patients is OSA, not central sleep apnea or something else, Pham says. Other sleep issues that could cause intolerance to CPAP, like insomnia or circadian rhythm disorder, need to be ruled out. Inspire is typically indicated for adults over 18 years old with moderate to severe sleep apnea and a body mass index of 32 or lower. Sepulveda says he also tends to lean toward more conservative treatment for anyone over 80.

Someone also needs to demonstrate poor tolerance or non-adherence to CPAP or similar devices: Most need to have tried another therapy like CPAP for at least three months to be considered a candidate, Sepulveda says.

Finally, a potential Inspire user will need to undergo a test called a drug induced sleep endoscopy, where they are put into a sleeplike state so a surgeon can evaluate what their throat looks like as it collapses. Certain types of collapses prevent someone from qualifying for one of these implants.

In Abbott’s case, he says that after using a CPAP for a year and a half and trying a variety of different settings, pressures, and masks, he was evaluated by an ear, nose, and throat surgeon before he qualified.

Caveats and Cautions

The reason for all of these qualifying factors is simple: “In patients who fit the eligibility requirements for Inspire, the device significantly improves sleep apnea symptoms,” Sepulveda says. For a good candidate who fits all the criteria, clinicians can achieve a reduction in sleep apnea that’s comparable to CPAP, he says. But Inspire is not an appropriate fix for everyone with sleep apnea.

Even though patients are typically screened fairly thoroughly, the probability of one of these implants working is not 100 percent, Pham says. In one Inspire-funded study , two-thirds of the participants who got the implant had sleep apnea events reduced by at least 50 percent at 12 months, with the typical sleep apnea score falling from the moderate into the mild range. But a third of participants did not see that level of improvement.

If it doesn’t work, people have to go back to other treatment methods. And when they do, doctors will still usually leave the Inspire device in to avoid damaging the nerve while removing it. For those reasons, doctors recommend making sure patients truly cannot tolerate CPAP before trying any surgical solution.

It’s also worth noting that Inspire has asked the Food and Drug Administration to make requirements for qualification less strict. The company has submitted a request to the FDA asking it to raise the BMI limit to 40 and the upper AHI score to 100. Inspire also told CR that it would like to remove the requirement for drug-induced sleep endoscopy for certain patients and provide alternative screening methods.

The procedure itself is generally well-tolerated, Pham says. But all surgery carries the risk of potential infection. One 2020 study looking at adverse events associated with Inspire between January 2014 and May 2020 identified 196 adverse events, including 50 infections, and 83 events that required re-operations—generally to remove the device or reposition it.

Living With Inspire

It typically takes a month to activate the device after implantation, and a couple of months for the clinician to find the optimal settings. Adjustments are based on patient feedback and data from the device, according to Sepulveda. In Abbott’s case, he says it took about nine months of adjusting different settings.

Every night you turn on the device before going to sleep with a small remote. You’ll feel a pulse, and then there is a delay—which is programmable, with a 30-minute default—to give you time to fall asleep before the stimulation kicks in. The stimulation itself feels like a tingling or a slight contraction in the tongue, according to the University of Kansas Health System. If you’re still awake at that point, you may want to restart the cycle. If you struggle with insomnia and go through this repeatedly, it can cause serious frustration, Abbott says.

And while he’s very happy with the convenience of the device, he says it’s not necessarily something he’d see as a vanity option for someone who just doesn’t like the look and feel of the CPAP machine. “There is a battery in your chest,” he says. As with CPAP, dry mouth is a common side effect for users, especially those who tend to breathe through their mouth.

It’s also important to know that once the device’s battery is running low, it needs to be replaced with an outpatient surgical procedure. Inspire says that the battery is designed to last between nine and 11 years—the exact amount of time may vary depending on use. In the meantime, Abbott says airport security hasn’t been an issue, at least going through a typical metal detector. And he is able to get an MRI if he needs to.

Today, he says that he has fully adjusted and that he enjoys the convenience of the device—he adds that the slight bulge from the implant doesn’t interfere with the straps of his hiking pack. But when people ask him about making the switch, he still recommends trying to work with a doctor to see if there’s a CPAP setting that works for them. If so, he says, “you should probably stick with that as long as you can.”

Indigenous Author Explores Charged Issue of Blood Lines in His Debut Novel ‘Fire Exit’

Please try again

A book cover with a cream background and red flames rising.

Morgan Talty has followed up on the success of his prize-winning story collection Night of the Living Rez with a poignant first novel that explores the charged question of what constitutes identity — family or tribe?

Fire Exit is narrated by a white man named Charles, who lives across the river from the Penobscot Nation in Maine. For years he has watched from afar as Elizabeth, the child he fathered with a Native woman, grows up on the reservation with her mother, Mary, and her Native stepfather, Roger. He longs to tell her the truth about her paternity, but Mary insists on keeping it a secret.

Charles’ desire is driven in part by a history of mental illness in his family. When the novel opens, his mother, Louise, who has suffered for years from bouts of severe depression, is also exhibiting symptoms of dementia. She is at risk of losing any memory of their shared history as a family, a history that Charles wants Elizabeth to know.

Sadly for Charles, biology has been destiny. The son of a white mother and father, he was raised on the reservation by Louise and her second husband, Fredrick, a Native man. But at age 18, he had to leave the reservation because of a tribal law that barred anyone who was not Native from living on the land. It was that same law that prompted Mary to tell him, after she found out she was pregnant with his child, “The baby can’t be yours.”

Charles, however, has little use for the complicated, controversial “blood quantum” rules that many tribes use to keep track of citizenship, which are based on the idea that the amount of “Indian blood” in an individual can be quantified. Despite his racial identity as a white man, he feels connected to the people and the land where he grew up. “It was Fredrick’s love that made me feel Native. He loved me so much that I was, and still am, convinced that I was from him, part of him… That was how I felt about Elizabeth.”

The conflict between Mary and Charles comes to a head when Elizabeth, who has grown up to be a deeply troubled young woman, goes missing and Charles is enlisted to help find her during a nor’easter of epic proportions. It is a gripping ending to a thoughtful, heartfelt exploration of what it means to be part of a family and a community. Is it a matter of blood, biology or simply the bonds of love?

Italy and Albania have an unusual agreement to shelter migrants. Could it inspire other nations?

Albania is building two migrant centers to shelter asylum-seekers rescued from international waters each month, giving italy time to review their cases. the agreement is based on gratitude for italy’s role in protecting albanians after the fall of communism..

Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni traveled to Albania on Wednesday to thank its government for its unique role in agreeing to host thousands of asylum-seekers while Italy processes their claims, and to tour migrant centers she said will be ready in August.

Ms. Meloni denied her day trip was a campaign stop on the eve of the European Parliament election in which migration is a big issue, and blasted criticism of the visit as typical opposition maneuvering.

Ms. Meloni and Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama in November signed a five-year deal in which Albania agreed to shelter up to 3,000 migrants rescued from international waters each month while Italy processes their asylum claims. With asylum requests expected to take around a month to process, the number of asylum-seekers sent to Albania could reach up to 36,000 in a year.

“They [Italians] are grateful to the government, they are grateful to the Albanian people for this important effort of friendship that they are making to give us a hand,” Ms. Meloni told a news conference.

Ms. Meloni has defended the controversial plan as a necessary component of her crackdown on migration, aiming to deter would-be refugees from paying smugglers to make the dangerous Mediterranean crossing. Human rights groups and opposition lawmakers have warned that refugee protections could be compromised.

Ms. Meloni considered the deal with Albania “extremely innovative” and said it attracted the interest of 15 out of 27 EU members who are asking the European Commission if “the union [could] follow the Italian model in the agreement with Albania.”

“The most useful element of this project is that it can represent an extraordinary tool of deterrence for illegal migrants destined to reach Europe,” she said.

Ms. Meloni, accompanied by Interior Minister Matteo Piantendosi and about three dozen journalists, kicked off her visit to the tiny Western Balkan nation at Gjader, a former military airport, 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of the capital, Tirana, where work for one of the two migrant centers has started.

Ms. Meloni next visited the port of Shengjin, 20 kilometers (12 miles) southwest of Gjader, where a reception center with housing units and offices is set in an area covering 4,000 square meters (4,800 square yards) and surrounded by a 5-meter (yard) high metal fence with barbed wires on top.

Ms. Meloni confirmed a two-month delay in the opening of the centers, saying that was due to unforeseen structural reinforcements that were necessary at one of the sites. She said that on Aug. 1 both centers would be operational and ready to host the first 1,000 migrants. A regular ferry link to Italy will begin in mid-September.

Ms. Meloni and her right-wing allies have long demanded European countries share more of the migration burden, and have held up the Albania agreement as an innovative solution to a problem that has vexed the EU for years.

Ms. Meloni, of the far-right Brothers of Italy party, has also championed her so-called Mattei Plan to fund projects in African countries along migrant routes in exchange for better controls, while pressing ahead with plans to run migrant centers in Albania.

The two processing centers in Albania will cost Italy more than 670 million euros (about $730 million) over five years. The cost of taking 36,000 migrants to Italy is 136 million euros ($148 million), almost the same as the amount to be spent in Albania, according to Ms. Meloni.

The facilities would be fully run by Italy while it fast-tracks migrants’ asylum requests. Both centers are under Italian jurisdiction while Albanian guards will provide outside security.

Italy would welcome the migrants if they are granted international protection or organize their deportation from Albania if refused.

Those picked up within Italy’s territorial waters, or by rescue ships operated by nongovernmental organizations, would retain their right under international and EU law to apply for asylum in Italy and have their claims processed there.

Data from the Italian Interior Ministry show the number of migrants arriving in Italy is way down compared to the same period last year: As of Tuesday, 21,574 people had arrived in Italy via boat so far this year, compared to 51,628 during the same period in 2023.

Albania is not a European Union member, and the idea of sending asylum seekers outside the bloc is controversial. The deal was endorsed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as an example of “out-of-the-box thinking,” but has been widely criticized by rights groups.

Mr. Rama, of Albania’s left-wing governing Socialist Party, has said the deal is a sign of gratitude on behalf of Albanians who found refuge in Italy and “escaped hell and imagined a better life” following the collapse of communism in the 1990s Albania.

“Italy has been helpful and served Albania many, many times and if we have the possibility to be helpful to Italy ... let’s exploit this opportunity,” said Mr. Rama.

Tirana has refused other countries’ requests for deals similar to that of Italy, according to Mr. Rama.

Italy’s center-left opposition has called the deal an expensive exercise in propaganda ahead of European elections and a shameful bid to turn Albania into Italy’s “Guantánamo.”

A group of 30 Albanian opposition conservative lawmakers took the case to the Constitutional Court in an unsuccessful effort to block the Italy-Albania deal on the grounds of human rights.

Julie was very helpful with my booking to Majorca, she also gave me lots of tips of where to visit as she's been herself several times. A real character as opposed to someone just "doing their job"! I sensed that Julie has a real passion for the job. Make sure you ask for JULIE!!!

I had a problem booking in online but a quick email to Paul Warrington (PWTBTMN1) and problem sorted. Paul did it for me and sent boarding passes through within minutes. Great service.

Hi Julie, I am delighted Paul could help, Thank you for your review. We pride ourselves on great service.

I’m writing this about the actual…

I’m writing this about the actual voucher not the company. If you do get or asked if you want a travel card say no. Have the cash instead because you can go directly to the company (jet2 etc etc) and get your holiday hundreds of pounds less.

Date of experience : 08 May 2024

Hi thank you for your comments, The information is just simply not true, We are always super competitive and we would be more than happy to take a look at this holiday for you before you book , Please feel free to message us.

Absolutely outrageous service received…

Absolutely outrageous service received at first. I needed to book a last minute hotel at the airport due to a family emergency and was met with such hostility by the lady who answered the phone. I’ve never known anybody so rude, she couldn’t care less and told me nothing she could do I’d have needed to call before 15:00 and it was now 16:30. Speaking to me like I should have known this and like I was an inconvenience to her. She asked is that ok, I said not really no I really need to stay at the airport and she put the phone down on me. Absolutely vile, I hope somebody doesn’t treat you the same when you’re in need. I then called back, explained to a gentleman the same thing and low and behind he sorted it out for me. He was much more helpful, it took him a total of 5 minutes to help me out and wasn’t rude about it either. I didn’t catch a name but thank you, I am really grateful.

Guy cut the call

I don't know who they've hired recently, but the guy on the phone was not nice. 2 weeks ago I spoke with him and he said he will email me with potentials. Never received an email, I called back a day or so later and spoke with the lady who I've dealt with previously, she stayed on the phone and we looked at different locations etc. The voucher is just impossible to use on stays you want, it's taken us over 9 months to find a suitable, 4/5 star looking place. Not dealing with a nice person, who actually just cut the call when I said I need to go over booking with my husband, just cut the call. Disgusting and so LONG to use their voucher, they have limitations and its just weird.

Date of experience : 02 May 2024

Good afternoon Ram, 1st of all I am saddened to hear that you did not receive an email with some quotes and that your call cut off so please accept my apologies and I will look into the matter. We want to work with you to find the most suitable booking if you could please email me at [email protected] with your requirements and we will do out best to find a suitable booking for you kindest regards Inspire Team

Highly recommended!

This is the first time I have had holiday vouchers so have never dealt with Inspire before. The whole experience was made very easy as Keith explained everything extremely well and was very efficient. They are only a phone call away should I need any more advice and I highly recommend them.

I unfortunately have a very complex little girl with numerous medical issues, she was diagnosed at 5 months old and since then we have been too scared to fly, in fear she won’t have what she needs on the flight/ abroad. Ellie in special assistance has dealt with all of our worries promptly and left us with no reservations for our first family holiday. Incredible communication, kind and compassionate. A true credit to the company. Thank you Ellie for everything you’ve done for us!

Megan, Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I can't imagine how daunting this must be for you to fly with your little girl and as a Mum myself I would too be nervous. It may surprise you that just over 12 months ago Ellie was new to the world of travel and has passed her apprenticeship with a distinction and we are super proud of her and the way in which she cares and empathises with our lovely families. Your comments have been shared to Ellie and the team and honestly we cannot thank you enough. Inflated Pricing and terrible customer service

I rang and spoke to an agent today telling him I found a return flight which included 2 checked in bags for £967 directly on the airlines website. The agent told me the same flight through inspire was over £1200! when I asked why it was cheaper on the airlines website and why I should book through Inspire, he said there were no benefits and some people just preferred to book through agents. He didn't really care and just said to go direct to the airlines. Inspire inflated the price by nearly £300! This is outrageous and the customer service was appalling! Would never recommend!

Date of experience : 22 April 2024

Hi Olusegun, I understand one of my agents is looking at this for you as I type and we can in fact always try to match what you have found on the direct sites But please do take into account all taxes and fees that are applied. we are governed by the prices of the airline, However you are referring to us matching the price you were quoted last year, Which of course what the airlines charge from one year to the next is totally out of our control.

Ref DH1

Date of experience : May 09, 2024

Date of experience : May 19, 2024

Hi Michelle, I am so sorry you have felt the need to write this review. However we are most certainly not double the price of jet 2. You have to book with Inspire as its an Inspire voucher but if you e mail [email protected] with the information you have found and we can happily look at the quote for you.

Was looking for a uk caravan holiday

Was looking for a uk caravan holiday. I rang Inspire holidays and spoke to a gentleman called Paul. He was very helpful and understood all the needs that was necessary to make this holiday perfect. A big thankyou to Paul ( PWTBTMN1) for taking the time to listen as I didn't feel rushed whilst making decisions.

Brain drain? No way. These talented young professionals call Stark County home

Twenty under 40! logo

There seems to be constant teeth gnashing over the perception that all of Stark County's brightest and most talented young professionals skip town.

They head to bigger, hipper communities to make their fame and fortune and leave Stark behind as part of the so-called brain drain.

At least that's the accepted premise. But this is the time of the year when we get to poke holes in that theory.

For 17 years, the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce's ystark! organization and the Canton Repository have partnered to recognize young professionals through the Twenty under 40! program . Twenty under 40! is presented in conjunction with Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co. LPA and the Aultman Health Foundation.

Each year, 20 individuals who are under the age of 40 are honored for their business acumen, leadership, commitment to the community, volunteerism, and personal and professional achievements.

These are young business and civic leaders. They are among the brightest and most talented in the community. They have decided to call Stark County home. And, as much as it is a cliché to say it, they are the future.

The Canton Repository opted this year to recognize these individuals on the front page leading up to the awards celebration, which will be held June 25 at the Quarry Golf Club in Canton. (For more details or reservations, go to:  www.ystark.org .)

We kicked off the individual profiles last week. We hope that you are inspired when reading them. We are.

Say hello to the drones

Speaking of the Canton chamber, hats off to the business organization for continuing to find new ways to entertain the community during the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week .

Last year, the chamber brought the popular Budweiser Clydesdales to Canton and partnered with the Wooster-based Certified Angus Beef to help cook up the meal for the Gold Jacket Dinner.

And now, we have a new event to look forward to. The Aultman Balloon Classic will feature a drone show provided by Skyworx .

Three hundred illuminated small drones will fly above the balloon field at the Kent State University at Stark campus and simultaneously arrange themselves into a variety of synchronized patterns — creating animated images in the sky.

We can't wait.
