This is how the relationship between pets is evolving. People treat them no less than humans. For instance, they celebrate their birthdays; get those matching outfits and more.

In my opinion, I feel the pets rightly deserve it. The most common pet you can find at anyone’s place is dogs. A man’s best friend and the most faithful animal, a dog. I also have a pet dog that I love to bits. We got him when he was a little baby and have watched him grow into a beautiful dog. All my family members love him with all their heart. We love his silly antics and cannot imagine our lives without him. We named him Sasha.

Sasha – My Pet Dog

My father adopted Sasha when he was a little baby. His friend had given birth to puppies and they decided to put the puppies up for adoption. We convinced our father to get one for us. Considering they knew our family well, they immediately agreed. Little did we know that our lives would change forever after his entrance.

Sasha came in like a blessing for our family. He belongs to the breed of Labrador. Sasha was black in colour, pure coal black. He came in as a puppy with his cute little paws and eyes. We couldn’t stop gushing over this beauty. My siblings used to fight with each other as to who will get the maximum time to play with Sasha.

As and when Sasha grew up, he learned various tricks. We trained him to follow our instructions and he even learned a few tricks. We loved showing him off to our colony friends and relatives. I always took Sasha out with me as he loved taking a walk on the road.

Furthermore, my siblings and I took on the responsibility of keeping Sasha clean. Every week, we took turns to bathe him and brush him nicely. I remember I even got a bow for him from my pocket money. Sasha loved it and wagged his tail in excitement. I decided, along with my mother, to purchase a puppy from a pet store on December 10, 2022. We went in the evening to finalise the puppy after she gave her permission. At the pet store's corner, I noticed a stunning white pomeranian sitting quietly and observing us. He was sitting with his gorgeous fluffy tail moving from left to right. We looked at many dogs, but this one grabbed my attention. I asked the shop owner if I could hold him in my hands, and he agreed. The dog was so kind that he began to play with me and lick me. After choosing to take him home with me, we proceed to buy his food, treats, leashes, toys, and shampoo.

My dog, Shero, accompanied me around the entire store. He seemed genuinely happy to be with me, which thrilled me. I had some concerns about whether he would be comfortable in the car and whether he would become anxious while driving, but nothing of the sort occurred. Instead, he reacted exactly the opposite of what I imagined. He sat next to me in the car the entire time we were travelling home and was enjoying the scenery. I got the feeling that he perhaps thought that he could now enjoy his life in the outside world.

First Experience At Home

After returning home, he initially felt some fear of unfamiliar objects, smells, and environment, but with time he got attached to everything. He was jumping on the bed, the couch, and playing with the toys we had bought for him. After some time, he began to bark, and as it was my first day with him, I was unaware that he did this when he was hungry. After finishing his meal, he slept for two to three hours. My family and I talked about his trainer while he was asleep so that he might learn new tasks that would make him stronger and more active, both of which are excellent for his health. I was staring at him while he slept and wondering how the atmosphere in the house had changed. The atmosphere in the home was now cheerful, joyful, and entertaining. He is now a member of our family.

Dogs come in a variety of breeds. The most famous dog breeds are Labrador retrievers, bulldogs, german shepherds and pugs.

Although all the dogs are extremely friendly, nothing can beat a labrador when it comes to friendliness. They are loving and understand when their owner is upset or happy. The German shepherds, Dobermann and the bulldogs are quite protective, they serve well if the owner is living alone. The smaller breeds like pug and chihuahua are cute and are not that hard to tame. Pomeranians with their long hair are a little hard to maintain, but still can be done.

In a real-life incident that happened in 2013, a mountain dog called Bella saved her owner out of a burning house. That's how protective and caring the dogs are.

The reason dogs are so protective when it comes to their owners is that they consider them a family. But for a dog to act right when it's being protective it needs to be trained. Most dogs act aggressively when they are protective.

My pet’s name is Mario. He is a two-year-old German Shepherd. I was in 6th grade when my father brought Mario home when he was just 45 days old. Now that he is completely healthy, I take him for his walks every day, where he is always filled with excitement to explore the other world. As a loyal friend, my dog, Mario, has never demanded anything except for 3 times of meals and a walk. Whether it’s a game of fetch in the backyard or a stroll in the park, every shared moment is a treasure that adds richness to my life.

Pets are an immense gift to anyone’s life. They’re the only people that love us unconditionally. Pets still give us everything they have without waiting for much in exchange—the primary aim of every pet’s life to make their owners pleased.

Even the word ‘owner’ is growing today. People prefer their dogs to be children and be their guardians. This is how the bond with pets is increasing. People should not treat them worse than people. E.g., they’re celebrating their birthdays, have the matching outfits, and much more.

The canine has been a human partner since prehistoric days, so we find these dogs worldwide. There are hundreds of these breeds. However, every variation has one common factor, honesty , and fidelity to the lord.

My favorite pet dog

I believe that pets deserve it. Dogs are the most popular pet you can see in anyone’s location—the greatest friend of man and the most loyal animal, the canine. I love bits whenever it happens to my pet.

We got him once he was a kid, or we saw him develop into a big dog. Both my members of the family love them from all their souls. We love his dumb shenanigans, and without him, we can’t picture our lives. Well, we call him Bruno.

My family likes dogs very much. There are only a few dogs with various types in my neighborhood. Still, Bruno is the name of my favorite dog amongst all these breeds.

I chose him, along with his few distinctive attributes. Bruno refers to a popular dog breed named Labrador retriever. Bruno is a full-bodied chocolate-colored body with such a black border across the neck.

Bruno is my pet dog, and he is faithful , genuine, and very devoted to his owner. Bruno is quick to train.

In quite a short time, he learned to dive, comprehend, and follow my orders. He takes up my orders easily and executes them immediately. Bruno is a very healthy dog, guy.

My dad adopted Bruno while he was a child. His friend had given birth to pets, and they wanted to put the pups available for adoption. We’ve persuaded our dad to buy one for us.

Considering that they knew our families well, they readily decided. Little did we realize that after his arrival, our lives would forever change.

Bruno came in as a gift to our family. Belonging to a Labrador breed, he is black, and pure black tar. He became my companion as a puppy with his adorable little paws and eyes. We haven’t been able to stop gushing about this charm. My brothers and sisters used to compete with one another to have the most opportunity to enjoy with Bruno.

When my pet Bruno grew up, he learned a lot of tricks. We taught him to follow our orders, and he really knew two tricks. We enjoyed introducing him to friends and family in our community. I’ve always taken Bruno out with me since he loves to take a stroll on the lane.

Besides, my brothers and I have taken on the task of keeping Bruno tidy. We took turns each week to bathe him or clean him neatly. I recall getting a bow for him out of my pocket money. Bruno liked it, and he wagged his tail in happiness . Bruno has been here thru thick or thin, and we’ll be forever grateful to him for his dedication.

At midnight, the fire broke out during our home. He saw the risk that we were in. My pet dragged my quilt aside and kept me awake. He took me to a kitchen. To my utter surprise, I noticed that a heap with dry fuel was lying there, and then all the fire climbed to the roof, or at once, and the other house members climbed from sleep. They kept the fire under control in the next few minutes. This action of Bruno cherished us all the more.

I’m taking excellent care of him, and every day I bathe him with soap. I feed him with milk and wheat. Occasionally, I even give bones and skin. It is regarded as a family member. Any member of a household is respected and valued. Visitors who visited the house enjoy it, too.

Several proposals were made for me, but I’m not going to be aware of it at any time. Separation is now out of the question, as he reacts to my affection. He’s still by my side, and his faithfulness is unquestionable. My pet is really loyal to me.

My Pet Changed my Life

We did not realize what we’d learn until we got a pet dog. He changed things forever since Bruno came through our lives. Bruno has shifted the definition of allegiance to us. We have heard how this loyal companion has always served for our comfort and wellbeing.

Certainly, Bruno has made us stronger human beings. We are much more humane for animals today. There was one incident where the stray dogs will hurt a kitten, or to our delight, Bruno rescued the little kitten or took her home.

In many other words, we learned many things from my pet. He was shielding us while we sleep at night. He was trying to cheer us up if any of us was down. Bruno’s obedience has encouraged me a lot and is kind to my family. So, all the praise for improving our life goes to Bruno.

From the moment I first laid eyes on that bundle of golden fur, I knew we were meant to be best friends for life. As Cody grew into an adult dog, his true golden retriever personality blossomed. With his eternally wagging tail and bright, inviting expression, Cody makes an immediate connection with anyone he meets. One of the things I love most about golden retrievers is their eager-to-please demeanor and high intelligence. Cody lives to make his human family happy. He studies our faces and actions intently, following commands and picking up on our routines with ease. We’ve been able to train him to do all sorts of tricks and tasks – from fetching objects to cleaning up his toys to even pulling off the perfect “play dead.”

At the same time, Cody has a wonderful goofy, playful side that keeps us laughing every day. He gets intense and bouncy when he wants to play tug-of-war or fetch. He makes us chuckle by tilting his head inquisitively at new noises. And sometimes he just does silly things like drooling while he sleeps or getting the classic “zoomies” for no reason. Having a dog like Cody has been an amazing source of joy but also an incredible lesson in unconditional love, patience, responsibility, and living for each moment. Dogs don’t dwell on the past or future – they are fully present. Cody takes the good and bad of each day in stride. Even if I’m frustrated after a long workday, Cody is always ecstatic to greet me with a wagging tail when I walk through the door, his only care being that I’m home.

Cody’s deep loyalty and steadfast companionship has helped me through some tough times in life. He has an incredible intuition for emotions and always seems to know when I need an extra cuddle or kiss on a difficult day. No matter what, I know Cody’s unconditional love for me will never waver. I was walking home from class, huddled against the crisp wind, when I noticed a scruffy little dog sitting all alone under a streetlamp. As an indie mix, Tommy’s exact breed makeup was anyone’s guess. His scruffy tan and white coat gave him a coyote-like appearance. His tall, pointed ears and muscular build hinted at some terrier ancestry. But most striking were his wildly mismatched eyes – one a warm brown, the other an icy blue-gray. Whatever his origins, Tommy was simply one-of-a-kind. He loved to chase squirrels and birds into the brush, requiring me to wrestle him out of dense bushes or scale trees to retrieve my muddy, leaf-covered pup. He also had a bad habit of counter-surfing to swipe any tempting human food left unattended. More than once, I returned home to find him proudly licking his chops surrounded by a mess of scattered wrappers and crumbs.

But his best trick was his fearless composure around larger animals. Despite his small stature, Tommy never hesitated to strike up play with bigger dogs at the park or boldly approach horses. I’ll never forget the image of Tommy emphatically barking up at an enormous, bewildered draft horse while I chased him in mortified embarrassment.

As the years passed, Tommy transformed from a pup into a more dignified, albeit slightly mischievous adult dog. His protectiveness over me became more pronounced as his youthful enthusiasm mellowed slightly with age. Tommy appointed himself as a watchdog of sorts, keeping a keen eye on anyone who came by the house. Yet he never lost his loving, gentle demeanor with people and furry friends. Dogs are known as digitigrade animals as they use their toes while running or walking. They have well developed canine teeth to eat flesh. They have strong sense of smell and hearing that’s why they are used by the police and army to detect criminals. They also have sharp vision and understanding power thus called intelligent animal. Sweet glands are found in their tongue which helps in cooling themselves through the process of panting.

It becomes alert all time whether day or night to offer its services to the owner. That’s why it is called as faithful animal. It is very vigilant in nature and can hear very slow sound in the night and take action soon. It can guess the presence of its owner from long distance through smell and become alert to welcome him home. The life span of a dog is very small however it can live around 12 to 15 years long. Life span of a dog varies according to their size such as smaller dogs live longer life than the bigger ones.

Leavenworth animal shelter overflows, prompting free adoptions of pets.

The Leavenworth animal shelter, home to animals like Titus, an 18-month-old German Shepherd-Husky mix, is now over its capacity.

Titus and other animals spend most of their time inside the shelter.

"Yeah, it's been pretty busy," said Deputy Police Chief Dan Nicodemus of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The shelter has exceeded its capacity once again.

"We reached that again this past month, and so we made the decision to start doing free adoptions," Nicodemus said.

For over two weeks, the shelter has been offering free adoptions of vaccinated dogs and cats, from puppies to kittens.

Despite these efforts, the numbers continue to rise.

"It seems like no matter how big the facility, you can always fill it full," Nicodemus noted.

He further explained the benefits of adopting from the shelter.

"Our animals come with vaccinations with spade or neutered," he said.

According to Leavenworth Animal Control, this is probably the busiest they've ever been in the ten years they've been in their current building.

The shelter is designed to hold around 90 dogs and cats combined, but the current population is above 100.

"We've been as high as 120-125. It's just a lot," Nicodemus said.

However, he also shared some hopeful news for animals like Titus.

"Puppies like Titus will be free for adoptions for the foreseeable future," he said.

Overfilled Alexandria animal shelter waives adoption fees for dogs this weekend

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (7News) — If you're thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, some pups in Alexandria are in need of a good home.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria said on Facebook that they are at "critical capacity" due to a greater than usual amount of abandoned and surrendered animals, and a lower than usual amount of adoptions.

Because of their urgent need to free up room, the shelter will be hosting an “Adopt-It-Forward” event from Thursday, May 23 to Sunday, May 26. Adoption fees will be waived on any dog weighing more than 40 pounds, and certain smaller dogs.

Local businesses are also pitching in. Event perks include a free small coffee or tea from St. Elmo's Coffee Pub, free ice cream from The Dairy Godmother, a free doggie bandana and toy from Lost Boy Cider, and a free drink at Port City Brewing Company.

You can find the shelter at 4101 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria Virginia. They're open for adoption on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 7 p.m., and weekends from noon to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed on Wednesdays.

Non-profit raises awareness of difference between service dog, emotional support animal

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Sun City Service dog wants to educate people on why it is important to not bring their pets to places where only service dogs are allowed.

Toni Robles, vice president of Sun City Service Dog, says to be a service dog requires a lot of continuous training. Robles suffers from a cardiac issue called inappropriate sinus tachycardia .

"I will randomly drop down to the 30s, or my heart rate will spike up to the highest was 222," Robles explained. "So he'll come over and tell me as soon as he either hears it or smells the hormone change, and tells me before I, in the passing out, hit my head."

Robles says if a dog is in a non pet friendly place, it can distract her dog from performing his duties.

Since 2023 is it a violation of Texas law to misrepresent a service animal, penalties include up to $1000 fine and 30 hours of community service.

Travelling with a pet

The United States (US) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced changes to the import requirements for dogs entering the United States . These changes will come into effect on August 1, 2024 and will impact dogs travelling from Canada to the United States. The CFIA is currently in the process of reviewing these requirements. Further information and guidance will be provided as soon as possible.

New import conditions for personal pet dogs and assistance dogs from countries at high-risk for dog rabies starting September 28, 2023

Personal pet dogs and assistance dogs from countries at high-risk for dog rabies will require an import permit issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency before travelling to Canada.

If you're planning on bringing your dog into Canada from September 28, 2023 onwards, prepare in advance and learn more about the import process .

Pets must meet specific requirements when travelling to Canada or another country. It is your responsibility to review all the requirements for your situation.

Some requirements must be completed at specific times and if not completed correctly or on time your pet may not be eligible to travel and be refused entry.

As soon as you know your travel details, contact your local veterinarian to assist with the pet travel process. Requirements could include obtaining a health certificate, updating vaccinations, testing, or administering medications.

Only dogs, cats and ferrets qualify as pets by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Check requirements for other animals if you're travelling with a non-traditional pet.

Travelling to Canada from another country (import requirements)

Requirements for bringing an animal into Canada apply to the following situation:

animals entering Canada permanently
animals in transit through Canada on their way to a final destination
animals entering Canada for a temporary visit
Canadian animals returning to Canada

Travelling from Canada to another country (export requirements)

The country you're travelling to may have requirements your pet must meet before they can enter the country. Export requirements are determined by each country and can change frequently. Every time you plan to travel with your pet, it is your responsibility to check the requirements and allow enough time to get your pet ready to travel.

NEW YORK (AP) — They may call it a catwalk, but the Pet Gala is the dogs’ time to shine.

Designer Anthony Rubio threw the now-annual fashion fete Monday night, sending 18 dogs down the red carpet at New York’s American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog. Each canine donned couture similar to what celebrities wore at the Met Gala just two weeks earlier.

“I want people to understand that we’re not making fun of the Met Gala. We’re not mimicking the Met Gala,” Rubio said. “We’re elevating and appraising and appreciating the wonderful designs that were presented at the Met Gala by the most talented designers of the world.”

At $300 a ticket, proceeds from the Pet Gala benefit the host museum — much like its human counterpart uptown serves as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Most of the furry fashionistas were pint-sized — even the role of Chris Hemsworth was played by a shih tzu — though there was a Leonberger in the mix. Some of the Met Gala’s most talked about stars were represented: Daffodil the Pomeranian as Jennifer Lopez, Kimba the chihuahua in one of Zendaya’s looks, Miley-Jo the Chorkie as Cardi B and Bastian the terrier as Colman Domingo. This year’s gala dress code was the Garden of Time, accompanying the Met’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit.

The dogs’ outfits will be housed at the Museum of the Dog for the month of June, Rubio said.

“Every photographer tells you it’s the hardest job to work with ... kids and animals. Not in my world,” said Rubio, who worked “tirelessly” to adapt the garments in the short timeframe. “I think the people are a lot harder to work with because the dogs do not complain. In my world, the dogs don’t get forced to wear what they don’t want to wear.”

Unlike Messi the dog’s turn last week on the Cannes carpet, the red carpet at the AKC Museum did not quite go unspoiled. That’s not quite something you’d see at the Met Gala.

But Rubio did have a message for the Met Gala’s impresario: “Now, I should say that I would love — if Anna Wintour is listening — I would love to be the first one to walk on the red carpet with a canine model in canine couture. Just putting it out there.”

Wild dogs that killed Shingletown pet are still roaming the area

A pack of "feral" dogs, blamed for killing a Shingletown's resident's pet in March, remains loose in the Shingletown area, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s office.

The seven dogs attacked and killed a medium sized pet dog on March 26, according to the sheriff's Public Information Officer Tim Mapes.

At the time of the attack, people reported seeing "wolf-type" animals, but the dogs are actually a mix of wolf, husky and malamute, Mapes reported on Friday. He said the seven dogs belong to a North State resident who allowed them to become feral.

Animal regulation officers cited the owner for "having unlicensed and unvaccinated animals" and strays, and for kennel violations, Mapes said.

The owner voluntarily turned over one of the dogs to animal regulation officials, but law enforcement officers have yet to find and catch the other six.

Animal control set traps for the dogs, while officers and sheriff's deputies are patrolling areas where people reported seeing the pack.

Shingletown residents should protect themselves, their pets and livestock from the pack, cautioned the Shasta County Animal Regulations Office.
