The Last Khutbah (Sermon) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) delivered his last khutbah on the ninth of Dhul Hijjah , which is the last month of the Islamic year. The incident commenced 10 years after Hijrah (A.H.), migration from Makkah to Madinah, in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat . The words he spoke were coherent and concise; addressed to the whole humanity. After praising, and thanking Allah (SWT), Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today. O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. God has Judged that there shall be no interest, and that all the interest due to Al-Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib shall henceforth be waived... Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under a trust from God and with His permission. If they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, perform your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan , and offer Zakat. Perform Hajj if you have the means. All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white; [none have superiority over another] except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Remember, one day you will appear before God and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me, and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and it may be that the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people."
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) completed his last khutbah, near the summit of Arafat, whereby the following revelation came down:
… This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.…" ( Quran 5:3 )

God says in the Quran that he was sent as a mercy for the people of the world.
"We sent thee not save as a mercy for the peoples." (Quran 21:107)
His Prophetic Mission began at the age of forty, circa 610 C.E., and continued until 632 C.E. From the path of ignorance, mankind was lead to the straight path and was blessed with the guidance of God.
Shortly before his death, Prophet Muhammad delivered a sermon during the Hajj , which came to be known as his "Final Sermon". This final sermon was not only a reminder to his followers, but also an important admonition. The final sermon confirms the end of his Prophetic Mission.
Year 10 A.H. of the Islamic Calendar is considered to be one of the most significant years for three reasons. Firstly, this was the year when the Prophet delivered his Last Sermon during his farewell pilgrimage to Mecca. Secondly, this was the year where a number of deputations came to the Prophet to announce their Islam as well as their tribes. Thirdly, it was the golden period of Islam when multitudes of people embraced the faith by accepting the message of the Prophet.
Prophet Muhammad undertook his farewell pilgrimage in the year 10 A.H. His farewell pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the most significant historical events in the minds of Muslims, for it was the first and last pilgrimage made by Prophet Muhammad, as well as being the model for performing the fifth pillar of Islam, the Hajj .
Prophet Muhammad’s final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat, the most blessed day of the year. There were countless Muslims present with the Prophet during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last Sermon.
The Final Sermon:
After praising, and thanking God, the Prophet, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, said "O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again.
God has Judged that there shall be no interest, and that all the interest due to Al-Abbas ibn Abd’el Muttalib shall henceforth be waived...
If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, perform your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and offer Zakat.
Thus the beloved Prophet completed his Final Sermon, and upon it, near the summit of Arafat, the revelation came down:
"…This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My Grace upon you, and have chosen Islam for you as your religion…" (Quran 5:3)
Even today the Last Sermon of Prophet Muhammad is passed to every Muslim in every corner of the world through all possible means of communication. Muslims are reminded about it in mosques and in lectures. Indeed the meanings found in this sermon are indeed astounding, touching upon some of the most important rights God has over humanity, and humanity has over each other. Though the Prophet’s soul has left this world, his words are still living in our hearts.

The last sermon (Khutabul Wada) of Prophet Muhammad
The last sermon of the Prophet-peace be upon him- is known as khutba hajjatul wida'. It is mentioned in almost all books of Hadith. Following Ahadith in Sahih Al-Bukhari refer to the sermon and quote part of it. (See Al-Bukhari, Hadith 1623, 1626, 6361) Sahih of Imam Muslim also refers to this sermon in Hadith number 98. Imam al-Tirmidhi has mentioned this sermon in Hadith nos. 1628, 2046, 2085. Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal has given us the longest and perhaps the most complete version of this sermon in his Masnud, Hadith no. 19774.
The khutba hajjatul wida of the Prophet-peace be upon him- was long and it contained much guidance and instructions on many issues. The Prophet-peace be upon him- gave this sermon in front of a large gathering of people during Hajj.
Whosoever heard whatever part of the sermon reported it and later some scholars put it together. It is a great khutbah and we should all pay attention to its message and guidance. Following are the basic points mentioned in this khutbah:
O People Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefor listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.
O People Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.
Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all interest due to Abbas Ibn ‘Abd al Muttalib (the Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived.
Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O People It is true that you have certain rights in regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives, only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat you women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People Listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat.
Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white- except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefor, do injustice to yourselves.
Remember one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah (Hadith), and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listened to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people."

What about the men who are.
What about the men who are "unchaste" and compare their women to other outside women. Should the women do the same? Or men who gossips about their women with their friends and their other family members. Should we leave such kind of men? Or body shame us and hurt us and his family hurt us and he do nothing.

Last sermon of prophet ohammad pbuh
A very informative text with good description but there is a confusion if anyone can clear with reference please......Prophet pbuh left 2 things Quran and family of prophet pbuh OR Quran and Sunnah? Well in the same sermon prophet pbuh raised the hand of Hazrat Ali and said something important that cannot be taken for granted and soon after they celebrated for 3 days.....what announcement was that?
Last Khutba by Prophet (P.B.U.H)
In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful
There are two version of the narration "Leaving Two Things" 1- Which is mentioned above (Quran & Sunnah) 2- Leaving two things namely "Quran & Ahl e bait" and whoever leaves any one of them will go astray.
The first narration is only quoted by one source. The second narration is quoted by many sources. However, if we examine both narrations, we will see the the word "Quran" which is "common" in both narrations.
Now the debatable word is "Sunnah" and or Ahl e bait:
If we investigate about the word "Sunnah" which means the traditions of the holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and those were demonstrated by him in his life time. His entire traditions encompassed the teachings and commandments of Quran: Now if we consider the 1st version of the narration which states that; "I am leaving Quran & Sunnah" would mean that he is repeating one requirement twice; because all his "Sunnah" is based on Quran so why is he using the word "Quran & Sunnah" when it means the same requirements to follow?
Also, according to the first narration, he is leaving two Things. Quran is a "Thing" which is with us in physical form and will remain until the day of Judgment without any change or alteration; His Sunnah is not A Thing in physical form and as we all know that there are more than 5 School of Thoughts in Muslims and they do not agree on many issues, narrations and traditions and they have their own understanding of "Sunnah"; I give you a simple example here; Among the major 5 school of thoughts, they all pray Salaat 5 times a day but their Wudu is performed slightly differently? and they all claims that their way of performing Wudu is right way of Sunnah; So, which Sunnah is the right one?
Therefore, the narration stating "Leaving 2 things the Quran & the Sunnah" does not match or contains any logic or relation.
Now we examine the other narration that states "I am leaving 2 things the Quran and my Ahl e Bait":
The Quran is a physical thing which is left and that gives you guidance and if you follow the commands, you will never go astray.
The Ahl e Bait are the "physical thing" who were left behind after the departure of our holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and who were the perfect examples and closest in observing Prophet's (P.B.U.H) Sunnah and displaying and demonstrating to the Ummah.
In addition to the above statement, there are numerous and continuous chain of Ahadith that shed the light and provides a logical and evidential conclusion to prove that the narration stating "Leaving 2 things" is the right narration of our holy Prophet (P.B.U.H):
Hadis no.1: Prophet (P.B.U.H) said; My Ahl e Bait is like the Ark of Noah (A.S); whoever boards on that Ark will not go astray.
Hadis No. 2: Prophet (P.B.U.H) said; My Ahl e Bait are from me and I am from them {He has said individually for his daughter Fatema (A.S), his son in law Ali (A.S), his grand sons Hassan (A.S) Hussain (A.S); so, if we try to understand the both narrations, we would come to the conclusion that, in the first Hadis, He (P.B.U.H) is directly guiding the Umma to follow Ahl e Bait after him and they will guide you towards the right path and save you from going astray.
In the 2nd Hadis, The Prophet (P.B.U.H) have stated name by name, (Ali a.s, Fatema a.s, Hassn a.s and Hussain a.s) in different occasions the same wording or conjecture and He (P.B.U.H) is trying to make us understand that "his Ahl e Bait are from him and "He" (P.B.U.H) is from "Them" means, they possess all of his qualities, virtues, seer'a and knowledge and if we Muslims wants to seek a guidance after me in order to follow the right path and stay away from going astray, then follow the guidance of his Ahl e Bait. I would also like to add some very relevant Ayaat (Verses) from Holy Quran that indicates perhaps the direction we have discussed in my above mentioned commentary:
Verse (Al Ahzab 33): Allah wishes only to remove Ar-Rijs from you, Ahl e Bait and to purify you with a thorough purification:
Verse (42:23): "Say no reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin" Allah the High:
Verse (Al Sajda 24) And we made from among them, leaders, giving guidance under our command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in our Ayaat:
Verse (Al Imran 61): But whoever disputes with you in this matter after knowledge that has come to you then say: Come let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and our near and your near, then let us be earnest in prayer, and pray for the curse of Allah for the liars: {(If you see in the books of Hadis and Tafseers, (Sahih Muslim), Prophet (P.B.U.H) brought Ali (a.s), Fatema (a.s), Hassan (a.s) and Hussain (a.s)} So, the conclusion is that the 2nd narration"I am leaving two things among you" stands clear and above and more likely meets the criteria and fulfil the conditions.
Ahl el beit
Salam Alaikum. I'm at loss here. Please, What exactly is the meaning of Ahl el Beit
Ahlul Bayt means the members of the household of the Prophet PBUH, i.e. his cousin Ali, his daughter Fatimah, his grandsons Hasan and Hussain

Last Sermon of the Prophet
The Last Sermon of the Prophet
Audhu billahe minishaitan Ar-rajim(I seek refuge in Allah from the rejected Satan.)
Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim(In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.)
The Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ Last Sermon This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah, 10 A.H. in the ‘Uranah valley of Mount Arafat’ (in Mecca). After praising, and thanking Allah the Prophet (pbuh) said:
“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

The Hajj sermon took place in the fields of Arafa, in the outskirts of Makka in the month of Zul-Hajj, 10 A.H. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned to Madina Sharif, where he passed away in the month of Rabi al-Awwal. This sermon was definitely delivered in Madina Sharif, because it mentions the martyrs of Uhud; the ...

Last sermon of the holy prophet pbuh. 1. Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) delivered his last sermon (Khutbah) on the ninth of Dhul Hijjah (12th and last month of the Islamic year), 10 years after Hijrah (migration from Makkah to Madinah) in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat. His words were quite clear and concise, addressing to the entire humanity.
Prophet Muhammad's final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat, the most blessed day of the year. There were countless Muslims present with the Prophet during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last Sermon.
The conquest of Mecca/Makkah (Arabic: فتح مكة fatḥ makkah) was the conquering of the town of Mecca/Makkah by Muslims led by the Holy Prophet Muhammad in December 629 or January 630 AD[3][4] (Julian), 10-20 Ramadan, 8 AH.[3] The conquest marked the end of the wars between the followers of Holy Prophet Muhammad and the Quraysh tribe.
The Last Sermon Of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) This sermon was delivered on the Ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah, 10 A.H. ( 623AD) in the Uranah valley of Mount Arafat in Mecca. It was the occasion of annual rites of Haj. It is also known as the Farewell Pilgrimage. After praising and thanking Allah the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) began with the words: "O People!

2013 - 1434. Beloved Prophet Muhammad, may God send His praises upon him, was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia circa 570 C.E. He is an example for all of humanity. He was a remarkable man at all times. He excelled in all walks of life by being a prophet, ruler, orator, soldier, husband, friend, father, uncle, nephew, and a grandfather.
With the growth of the Black Lives Matter movement, the powerful advice of the Prophet (PBUH) is extremely important to heed. We are reminded of our origins and redirected to what truly matters: someone who has a heart that is attached to Allah in word and deed. This is what is truly important. 4. Treating women well.
Last sermon muhammad pbuh. The farewell address of Prophet Muhammad was indeed addressed to all humankind at all times and for all generations. It encompasses many aspects of life (general and specific). He laid down the foundation of morality, chastity, modesty, justice, equality, brotherhood, and accountability.
5 Lessons From The Last Sermon of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Khutbatul Wada' or Prophet Muhammad's s.a.w. last sermon was delivered on the 9th of Zulhijjah 10 A.H (632 C.E) on the Mount 'Arafah, Makkah. Some scholars view that it is a series of sermons made by the Prophet s.a.w. in Arafah and Mina beginning from the day of Arafah until the middle day of Tasyriq.

Quraish used to worship idol and did not believe in one God. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked them to worship One and the Only true God; Allah (SWT) and Accept Islam.
