    We constructed "harvest plots" (Ogilvie et al., 2008) to map the interventions, research designs, study quality and reported outcomes for each essential nursing care area to delineate the scope and strength of the evidence for each intervention and care area. Mapping study quality allowed us to examine the risk of bias across all studies.
