A Journey by Train Essay/Paragraph

During last summer vacation, I went on a family trip to Puri with my family. This was my first long journey by train. We reached the Howrah railway station with all our luggage quite early. The train departed from Howrah at around 9 o’clock in the morning. When I looked outside everything was running behind, I loved that scene. The train was moving quite fast. The whole train was crowded.

After boarding, we had our breakfast. I always prefer a window seat, because I can enjoy beautiful nature from there. I was impressed by the beauty of the landscape. Watching the beautiful natural scenes outside gave me extreme happiness. The train finally reached the Puri station at 6 o’clock in the evening. It was an exciting train journey.

Short Essay on A Journey by Train

Train journeys are always very exciting. We get to meet a lot of new people. Two weeks back had a train journey. The name of the train was Howrah-Dhanbad Black Diamond Express. My destination was Asansol. The train departed from Howrah around 6.40 in the morning. The weather was pleasant and I took a window seat.

Most of the passengers inside the train compartment were either reading a newspaper or sleeping. I started reading one of my favourite novels. The constant yelling of the hawkers forced me to close the book and look out of the window. Around 8.30 in the morning I bought a cup of coffee and a packet of biscuits from a hawker. Having small sips in the coffee concentrated on the visuals and images that changed rapidly outside the train compartment.

I noticed that concrete jungle have paved its way to lush green fields and ponds with trees surrounding them. Farmers were tilling children were going to school through the mud track. The ambiance outside was serene and in complete contrast with the atmosphere inside the train.

Introduction:

Once I read a poem. I still remember some of  its lines as follows:

“All of the sights of the hill and the plain Fly as thick as driving rain; And ever again, in the wink of an eye Painted stations whistle by.” (From A Railway Carriage-RL Stevenson)

A journey by a speeding train is an exciting experience. The modern age seems to be obsessed with speed. So people prefer to travel by the railways than by road.

Description of the Journey:

One day, my father announced that we were going to visit Shantiniketan during the winter holidays. I was simply thrilled. On the scheduled day, we reached Howrah station in the morning. The Shantiniketan Express stood majestically at the platform. The station was humming with the din and bustle. There were rings of people before the ticket counters. We entered a compartment and settled down for the journey. I managed a seat beside a window. Soon the signal was green at the far end of the platform. Within a minute, the train began to move. We glided out of the station. Then it picked up speed.

As the train thundered on, I surrendered my ears to the rattle of the train wheels. They were making rickety-rackety sounds when they rolled over the tracks. I looked outside through the window to get a view of the Nature outside. The train was passing by harvested fields, meadows, brooklets, and small ponds. Through the window, the world outside looked like a motion picture. Everything looked very bright and pleasant in the morning sunshine.

I looked about my compartment. Father was flipping through a magazine. Mother was chatting with an elderly couple. The hawkers and vendors were selling various foodstuffs. A beggar was singing a song while begging. In the meantime, the train reached at Guskara station. After half an hour it reached Bolpur.

My Feelings:

I got spellbound to see the fantastic wild beauty of nature through the window. The greatness of God manifested in nature’s creations. I remembered some lines of a poem-

“The true pleasing spirits sight’s That may breed true love’s delights” (Nicholas Breton)

The breeze was gentle, fresh, glorious, and a pleasure to breathe. It was pouring into our compartment from outside. I sometimes lost my sense of individuality and seemed to expand through the window. Thus, I wanted to establish a magical link with nature.

Conclusion:

Thus ended my first train journey. This journey was so pleasant that l experienced an intense high.

My Train Journey To Shillong

One of my uncles manages a tea plantation in Shillong. He invited my family to visit during the harvesting season. We decided to go for a vacation. We arrived at the Kolkata train station at 9 am on the scheduled day and bought 3 tickets for the 11 am train. The station has improved significantly since it first started. Coming from Kolkata, it was a lengthy journey.

During my journey on the train, many hawkers entered while I was inside the train. They were selling a variety of goods. Some were selling candies and snacks, others were selling copies of documents, perfumes, and so on. These local railway hawkers were known for their ability to outsell any copywriter with their own sales pitch. They did not use boring or lifeless sales pitches.

While selling goods, some people performed songs while others impersonated politicians. They had a really unique appreciation for books. This journey was one of my core memories as it was my first train journey ever. Me and my family had a lot of fun on the train journey from Kolkata to Shillong.

I have travelled many times with my family. I have travelled by flight, by train, etc. But the most exciting one was when I was travelling to Mumbai with my family. The plan to visit Mumbai was made just to have a great time by train. We had already planned that we will stay awake until late at night to enjoy the journey in each other’s company. We began the fun by playing cards. As we finished a game or two, two boys sitting in the middle berth asked us if they could join us. Playing cards is always fun when there are greater number of players involved. So, we agreed. Our game became all the more exciting and we kept playing for about two- three hours. Since our compartment was occupied only by us and those two brothers and their parents, there was no fuss about turning off the lights.

While all my train journeys have been memorable there is one that I will cherish forever. This was my train journey from Shimla to Kalka. This train journey was like no other.

We had heard a lot about the Shimla – Kalka train journey and really wanted to experience it. It is said that the train comes under the world heritage list of UNESCO. However, since our plan was made all of a sudden, we could not get the tickets for travelling from Kalka to Shimla which was disappointing.

At first, we thought of cancelling or postponing the trip however then we decided to take a bus to Shimla. The tickets from Shimla to Kalka were available so we booked our return journey by the much talked about toy train that runs on this route. While I was all excited about my trip to Shimla and enjoyed every bit of it with my family, I was constantly dreaming about our journey back home as I couldn’t wait for the toy train experience.

My Awesome Train Journey Experience

We reached the station few minutes before the train departure time. I was thrilled looking at the train and couldn’t wait to board it. We soon kept our luggage in the train and sat on our seats. I grabbed the window seat to witness the scenic view outside. As the train started, I saw the mesmerizing view of the hills covered with pine trees. There was greenery all round. It had rained a night before and thus the flora looked even greener and fresh. It was a breathtaking sight.

The toy train covers a distance of 96 km and there was not a single moment when we got bored during this journey. There was so much to view and experience. The train travels at a slow speed and takes around 5-6 hours to reach Kalka so that we can experience the natural surroundings to the fullest. It goes through 102 tunnels and this makes the journey all the more amazing. It also passes over as many as 864 bridges and offers an experience which is one-of-its-kind. While I sat by the window for most part of my journey, I also went and stood by the train door for around an hour or so to have a closer look at the nature.

Every bit of my train journey from Shimla to Kalka was enjoyable. The experience was simply unmatched. Every train journey lover must experience this at least once in their life time. Nature lovers would love it all the more.

• Difficulty in Reservation

Train reservation is a difficult task. You have to visit the railway station and stand in the queue for hours to get the tickets reserved which is extremely tiring. You can also get the ticket reserved online but that is again a tedious task as the train booking site is too slow.

• Fixed Schedule

Trains run on a fixed schedule. You may be required to catch trains at odd times and this can be difficult at times. Delay in reaching the railway station even by a few minutes means missing the train and it is difficult to spend time on the railway station if you reach early.

• Slower Option

Travelling a long distance by train means investing a day or two in journey is unlike planes which can cover same distance within few hours. So it is not a good option for students or working professionals who cannot take so many leaves and spend so much time on travelling.

• Cleanliness Issue

While trains have washrooms which is considered to be a big plus of the train journeys these are mostly not maintained well. Un-kept and unclean washrooms are a big put off. Their use must be avoided as it can cause infection.

Thus, we see train journeys have a number of advantages however they also have certain disadvantages. While space, comfort and the facility to carry enough luggages attracts travellers to option for train journeys, difficulty of reservation and the need to plan the journey way ahead of the travel date makes them look for other options.

The train journey is awesome because it gives you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of real nature. On the train, I met with a Bengali guy named ‘Robin’. Now he is one of my best friends. So this is a way of making new friends too. After a long journey, finally, we reached Delhi station. My friend came to receive us. I texted our location. Then we hired a taxi to go to his home. A journey is always fun and full of pleasure. I am a fun lover and love to travel across the country. A few weeks ago I experienced my first ever train journey in my life. The train started after a couple of minutes and left the urban area soon. I was watching outside and enjoying the real natural beauty. Everyone knows that Shillong is an amazing place, especially as a naturally beautiful place. When our train came near Shillong, we were amazed to see the beauty of that place. All of us were traveling there for the first time. We were speechless literally. We exchanged the seat a couple of times. I sit in the window seat for a couple of hours. It’s a good experience to sit in the window seat. If you sit there, you can enjoy so many beautiful things. So I suggest everyone to try getting a window seat in your first train journey.

Finally, after a long journey, we reached in Shillong. I will never forget the journey. It was absolutely amazing and awesome for me. We found our uncle waiting for us at the station because I informed him with a phone call. A journey by train is really fun and interesting. Everyone should try it.

The journey is always a pleasure, but the train journey is too much pleasure for me. I love the train journey a lot. These are the top reasons that are why I love traveling on a train. Today I will share my last train journey experience with you. I was traveling from Sylhet to Chittagong, a long way.

According to the plan, we hired a taxi and reach Sylhet railway station at 8 AM on a specific day. We bought three tickets for the next express train from Sylhet to Chittagong. They bought a standing ticket rather than a seat. The reason is that was a vacation and people were leaving cities to spend holidays with their family.

When the train came into the platform, it took almost ten minutes to find out seats. The seating plan was pretty much confusing. I took the window seat. Finally, the strain started with a whistle. I was really happy about it. We were gossiping about sports and current vacation planning. We were having a few plans for what to do in Chittagong. We planned to stay there for three days and enjoy the Patenga Beach and top spots in the city. We left the urban area within ten minutes and I was impressed to see the beauty outside.

Sylhet is a land of beauty and lots of tea gardens. If you visit the train, you can see the real beauty of this division. The government has set up the train route between a national park with huge natural resources and beauty. I just love to travel across this area with the train. After two hours of gossiping and talking. One of my friend’s sleep and one started reading a book. I was still watching the beauty outside. Then finally I was tired and thought to take a nap. I asked my friend to take care of our goods. I slept for about an hour.

Finally, after nine hours of a long journey, we reached in the Chittagong station. We hired a taxi and went to my sister’s home. This journey by train was really impressive for me. I will remember this day for a long time. I didn’t travel a lot with my friends that are why this journey was remarkable for me. I suggest everyone journey with a train and enjoy the real fun of traveling.

Introduction: A journey by train is indeed very pleasant. It is also comparatively safe. The memory of my first journey by train is still fresh in my mind.

Occasion of My Train Journey: It was the month of July. I had just passed the SSC Examination and was willing to get admitted into a well-known college in Dhaka. At that time one of my uncles lived in Dhaka. He proposed me to go to Dhaka and get admitted into my favorite college while staying at his house. I was overjoyed to have the offer.

Description of the Journey: Two days before the journey my father bought a ticket for me at Battali Railway Station and told me to get prepared for the journey. I was so thrilled that I could not sleep for the next two nights. On the appointed day my father took me to the railway station at about 6 AM. The name of the train was Subarna Express . It was a special train. The train was scheduled for 7 AM. At first, we were waiting for the train at the station. At about 6:30 AM, the arrival of the train was announced and the passengers were asked to go to the platform to board the train. On the platform, we found the train standing. I got on the train and found my seat. I put my luggage on the overhead rack and sat comfortably. At just 7 AM the bell rang out. The guard blew his whistle and waved the green flag. After that, the train started moving. At first, it moved slowly. But gradually it gained speed and began to run very fast. I could see the train running among green fields, beside hills, forests, and houses. The train stopped at only a few stations such as Feni, Comilla, and Zia International Airport stations. At last, it reached Dhaka.

Destination: My journey by train continued for about five hours. When the train reached Kamalapur Railway Station, I got down from the train. I found my uncle waiting for me on the platform. He received me cordially. Then we hired a taxi and went to my uncle’s house.

Conclusion: For the first time in my life, a journey by train was a thrilling experience for me. I’ve never been on a train before. So, the first train journey will always be fresh in my memory.

Introduction: My cousin, I mean the daughter of my paternal uncle, lives in Dhaka . She got married two years back. She invited me to visit her house in Dhaka. I didn’t get the opportunity to go to Dhaka before. My school is always open. I took the decision to spend my summer vacation in Dhaka. Last summer vacation I made a journey from Sylhet to Dhaka by train . It was a marvelous holiday for me and an exciting trip to Dhaka by train .

Journey Starts: It was the morning of the 19th of August 2021. I started from my house along with my elder brother. We had reached the railway station about half an hour before the train departed. It was so crowded in there. Cars, taxis, rickshaws , and other vehicles were coming to the station with passengers. Porters running behind them. There was a long queue before the ticket counter. We had to stand in the queue before the ticket counter for some time to buy tickets. We bought two first-class tickets.

Description: We were traveling in the morning sitting in a first-class compartment on the train. The seats were very comfortable. The train started for Dhaka. I sat beside the windows. I kept looking outside through the windows. The train ran on. The train sped up and the houses and trees on both sides of the road seemed to be running speedily backward. The pleasant breeze of the open space cooled the compartment and made it more enjoyable. The scenes and sights were changing every moment. I was quite glad to see the farmers plowing their land. I saw many people catching fish in the river. I saw a lot of interesting sights. Lots of boats were sailing on the rivers. Apart from these, I saw many attractive things during the journey. But sometimes I felt boring because the beggars most often annoyed me asking for money. When the train stops at different stations, vendors, hawkers sometimes disturbed me by making a loud noise. When the train left Kulaura junction and was approaching Srimangal, I saw many beautiful tea gardens , rubber gardens, and hills. The natural beauties of Srimangal are beyond description. I never forget these wonderful scenes. The train stopped only at a few important stations during the journey. The hurry of the passengers, the noise of the hawkers and vendors, and the movement of the exciting people were really very interesting sights in my train journey.

Conclusion: It was getting dark. We reached Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka at dusk. We got off the train. My cousin along with her husband was waiting there for us in their car. They took us to their house at Uttara in Dhaka. We stayed with them in Dhaka for a week and enjoyed our stay there very much. Then we return home by train again. It was really a wonderful journey by train. I shall remember this journey forever.

Description of the journey: The day was fixed. We reached Kamalapur railway station at 7 a.m. It was very crowded. The passengers and hawkers were moving here and there. The station was full of cries of the passengers and hawkers. We bought two tickets. The train was overcrowded. with great difficulty, we got on the train. The guard blew the whistle and the train started. It was a mail train. At first, the train moved on slowly. Then the train began to run at full speed.

I was peeping through one of the windows. The beautiful scenery outside charmed me. It was passing through the green fields. There were jute, sugarcane, and paddy plants here and there. They were tossing their heads in the breeze. The houses and the trees on both sides seemed to be running back. Nature’s beauty on both sides gave me joy. I saw the farmers working in the field. While our train was passing by the villages, the children came running near the rail line and shouted in joy. At Akhaura station some hawkers got into our compartment. I bought two bananas and some blackberries. The jerking of the train made me sleepy.

Destination: Our train reached Chittagong at 5 p.m. I was awakened by the shouts of the porter. We got down from the train and our journey came to an end.

Conclusion: This journey was very much interesting to me. I shall never forget the sweet memory of this journey.

Traveling is a source of joy. Everyone has a passion for travel. I like train travel very much, it seems hassle-free and comfortable to me. Journey to Shimla by Toy Train

We went to Shimla last year during the autumn break. We travelled by bus to Kalka and from there we took the toy train to Shimla. I thought it would be like a usual train journey with some mountains and valleys in view but it actually turned out to be super thrilling and exciting. We were amid nature all through our journey. We didn’t just get the view of the mountains, valleys and the greenery around, we felt like being a part of it as the train went through the mountains giving the true feel of the nature.

It was a 5-6 hours journey and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. The route was full of tunnels and bridges that added to the experience. There were more than 100 tunnels and around 800 bridges on the route. I sat by the window all through the journey to take the outside view.  We also stepped out of the train as it stopped on a station on the way. It was a small station and the train stopped for just about ten minutes.

I was accompanied by my parents and brother. They enjoyed the trip as much as I did. We travelled by the same train on our way back too.

This was indeed the best train journey of my life. I love being amid nature. This is the reason why I enjoyed it all the more. I really wish to go on this route again.

Essay on ‘My First Train Journey’ – Essay 3 (400 words)

I went on my first train journey when I was in 2 nd standard. It was my maternal aunt’s wedding and we had to go to Dehradun to attend the same. As the news broke, there was joy and excitement all around. My mother began deciding the dresses she would wear on the wedding and my father started planning our travel. It was decided that we will be travelling by train with few of our relatives. I was super thrilled about the journey as this was the first time I was travelling by train.

Planning the Train Journey

Train journeys are different from road trips. One needs to plan ahead to ensure a smooth travel. After looking at all the trains running on that route, my parents drilled down to the most suitable and convenient option. The tickets were booked days ahead of the trip. Our bags were packed and all the other necessary arrangements were made for the trip.

It was a night journey. We reached the railway station on time, settled ourselves and the train started within few minutes.

Fun on the Way

We greeted our relatives as we settled ourselves for the long journey ahead. We were meeting many of them after months. So, there was a lot to talk about. I sat with my cousins and we planned to have a lot of fun on the way. They had brought few games. We started playing an interesting board game.

After few rounds of the game, my mother called us for dinner. The dinner served in the train was delicious. After having my dinner, I sat by the window. Since it was night there was nothing much to see outside however I enjoyed sitting in the corner hearing the noise of the running train. It was a different experience for me.

As everyone finished the dinner, we decided to play antakshari. All our relatives joined us to play this fun game. We played antakshari for an hour and then it was time to sleep.

The middle berths were opened and soon everyone dozed off. I woke up early the next morning and was delighted to see the view outside. The green fields, the rising sun, and the range of hills that stood at a distance and the huts that came along the way – everything seemed just beautiful. This was the best part of my train journey.

I have gone on many train journeys with my family as well as friends. Travelling by train is comfortable and enjoyable. I always prefer train journeys over road trips for the experience they offer. I have made great memories on these trips. While I have enjoyed all my train journeys, my train travel from Delhi to Goa is the closest to my heart.

Journey from Delhi to Goa

I went for a trip to Goa with my classmates when I was in seventh standard. The trip was planned by the school. After much persuasion, my parents agreed to send me on the trip. Most of my friends also got the consent from their parents. We planned to do a lot of fun things on the trip.

Besides, site-seeing and having fun with friends on the trip, I was also excited about the train journey. The train journey from Delhi to Goa was for around one and a half day. This was the longest journey I had ever gone on. I was really looking forward to it.

My parents dropped me to the station. They were a bit anxious as this was the first time I was travelling so far without them. My mother gave me last minute instructions and I nodded obediently as I eagerly awaited the train. We left from Delhi at around 5 in the evening. I sat by the window with one of my friends by my side.

Travelling with Friends

Travelling with friends is always fun. I had been to Jaipur, Nanital and Shimla with my friends. All these trips were planned by our school. We travelled by train on all these trips and had a lot of fun on the way but none of them involved so much travelling. Most of these were overnight journeys. But on our trip to Goa we spent one night and one and a half day in the train.

I kept sitting by the window for the first two-three hours of the journey. I loved the view outside. As it started getting dark, I joined my friends who were playing dumb charades. We kept playing this game until it was time for dinner. After having our dinner, we chatted until late night. We shared our experiences, narrated interesting stories and mimicked our teachers. It was all great fun. I slept comfortably at night and woke up late.

The breakfast was served almost immediately after I woke up. After having the breakfast, I went and stood by the train door which was half opened. The view outside was beautiful. I love nature and I can watch the trees, hills and the water bodies for hours. It soothes and pleases my senses and offers a delightful experience.

I kept standing there for a long time. One of my friends joined me there. We enjoyed the view and spoke about our love for travelling and nature. During the rest of the day, we played games, had food and chatted with each other. We reached Goa at around 11 at night.

This train journey was an awesome experience. I enjoyed it thoroughly and made several beautiful memories on the way.

• One can study or work comfortably on a laptop during train journey. Thus, the time spent in travelling can be put to productive use.
• Trains are quite economical as compared to cabs and aeroplanes. One can travel long distance at a nominal cost.

Disadvantages of Journey by Train

While train journeys offer a number of advantages, there are certain disadvantages attached to them too. Here is a look at these disadvantages:

• One of the biggest disadvantages of travelling by train is that one needs to plan the trip and get the tickets booked days before the journey. This is quite unlike travelling by car or bus wherein one can plan the trip and get going even the next day.
• Booking the ticket can be quite taxing. People who go to the railway station to book the tickets need to stand in the queue for hours. Booking train tickets online is also quite time consuming as the railway booking site sometimes get quite slow due to increased traffic.
• Though the trains have washrooms and restrooms, these are not as clean and hygienic as they should be.
• Trains often get delayed due to different reasons. This can be quite annoying and exhausting.
• Compared to aeroplanes, travel time taken by trains is much higher. It is not a good option for those who need to reach somewhere urgently.

My Train Journey Experience

I have been on many train journeys since my childhood. I have gone to Mount Abu, Udaipur, Varanasi, Shimla, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bombay and many other places with family, friends and relatives. I have travelled to most of these places by train. What I love most about train journeys is the view outside. I love to sit by the window and watch the natural surroundings that come by during the journey. I often take a novel along as I love reading while travelling.

Train journeys become all the more fun when we are travelling in groups. There are so many fun things to do on the way. We crack jokes, sing songs, play games and chit chat for hours during the journey. We also get a chance to meet new people. It feels great when we meet like-minded people on our way. It makes the trip quite enjoyable. There is so much to talk about and share. I have made quite a few friends during my train journeys.

Train journeys have their set of advantages and disadvantages. While planning ahead, booking tickets and strict train schedules can be a put off; comfortable travel and good utilization of time are some of the advantages it offers. I have been on several train journeys and I really look forward to them.

The railway is a cheap and best way of transportation. Traveling by Railway is very interesting also. Last month I decided to go to Shimla to meet my friend by train . I consulted the Railway Time Table . I found that the next train was to leave for Shimla at 10 p.m. I got ready and went to the railway station. I reached the station one hour earlier.

There was a long queue in front of the booking window . But a lady helps me to get a ticket . She purchased the ticket for me. I went to the platform with my bag. The platform was overcrowded.

After some time the signal was lowered. I saw the train approaching the platform. The train arrived and stopped. Everyone rushed towards the compartments and tried to get in. I made my way into a compartment. I was lucky to get a good seat by the window. After fifteen minutes, the guard blew the whistle and then waved the green flag . The train started and soon it was steaming off at a great speed.

The night was cool and it began to rain. I closed the windowpane and covered myself with a blanket. I looked out through the glass window. The trees , houses , and huts seemed to wheel back. The passengers were doing something or the other. Some were gossiping and chatting . Some were discussing the burning questions of the day.

The train reached Kalka. I changed my train to Shimla. After some hours I reached Shimla and meet my friend.

Essay 1 (250 Words) – My Memorable Train Journey

Introduction

Trains always fascinated me since my childhood days. When I was young, I use to run to watch a train because there was a railway line near my house. There was proper barricading still it was visible. The sharp horn or train used to make me feel crazy and forced me to run. I was really very much fond of trains. So, now it was my trip to Mumbai and I was just 10.

A Memorable Journey

Although I have traveled a lot, this trip holds a special place in my heart. It was not my first trip still I was super excited. We visited the railway station at 9 AM and the train was delayed by 2 hours due to bad weather and fog. We were waiting on the platform meanwhile another train came and board the platform. Luckily it was the engine in front of us. I never noticed the engine so carefully; I forced my father to take me closer.

When I went close the driver inside cheered me up and accepted my wish to see the engine from inside. I was just 10 but I can still remember each and every detail I saw and the chauffeur told me. There were a few gear buttons and a small staring wheel. He told me that they never sleep while driving and follow all the rules for the safety of passengers.

Finally, we came down and after some time our train arrived and on the entire journey, I was amused about the engine room and how the drivers run a train. In my entire journey, I asked many questions and my father answered all of them because he is also an engineer and knows about trains.

The way a small seed can have such a big tree similarly a single thought can give you a new direction. From that day I decided to become an engineer and develop technology so that our drivers could also sleep and the journey could be equally enjoyable for the passenger and the chauffeur.

Essay 2 (400 Words) – How Trains Made our Journey Special?

All of us have different memories with trains sometimes we love a journey whereas sometimes we also get bored. Many of us don’t like a train journey when they have to go far. Indian Railways was established on 16th April 1853 under the British Government and by Lord Dalhousie. The first-ever train in India was started in between Bori Bunder to Thane in Mumbai. This was how a train started in India. Before this, people use to travel on foot or on some animals like horse, camel, etc.

What is Special about a Train Journey?

We travel for a purpose sometimes the reason is good and sometimes it can be bad. Depending on the situation one should choose the mode of travel.

In the beginning, there used to be a steam engine and on long-distance travel, people use to get black due to black fume. My grandfather used to tell me about the amazing train journey in the old days.

Gradually diesel engines were introduced and now we have electric engines. The journey was special in every era. Trains connected people and states and also brought a lot of development. It was one of the easiest means of transport.

We all have traveled by train and have a special memory about a special journey; I remember a beautiful moment I had in one of my motherland’s travels.

A Special Trian Journey

We use to live in Ahmedabad because of my father’s occupation and my hometown was in UP at Allahabad. I use to visit my grandparents every year during my summer vacation by train. It was a vacation and I was on my journey to Allahabad. It was a two days journey and I met a small child who was very small and only use to smile and say a very few words. It was a south Indian family traveling to the same destination Sangam.

The child was crying continuously and his family members tried all but failed. I was sitting aside and was watching the incident. Suddenly he started crying on a high note and I was playing with a ball. I step down and offered my ball and luckily the boy stopped crying and started smiling. Everyone amazed and stared staring at me. Soon they got happy and also the child and I played with the child, he enjoyed my company.

Since they were from a south Indian family, they offered some south Indian dishes they brought with them and some tasty snacks. To be honest I really liked the food and this was one of my best train journeys.

I love traveling and it adds a lot of memories and we meet different people and visit different places. We learn and know new things and while visiting a new place I finish my research on my train about the place which helps me to make my trip more memorable and to know the authentic place.

Nowadays people prefer traveling by plane on a long-distance journey because the train takes a lot of time. But I am just the opposite because I enjoy a train journey. I love traveling and watching new places which we also see from the window. When you travel alone books are the best partners and when you are with family or friends then it is family time. Usually, I love a train journey but I can’t forget one of my school trips.

My School Trip

Every year in the month of August a social and cultural event is organized on different branches of my school. My school has many branches and is present in the entire nation. Every year a new venue is decided and we have to visit that place. I live in Delhi and we have to go to Chennai to represent our school. It was not a trip but we had to represent our school and there were near about 50 students who participated in different events.

It was 5 PM when we started gathering on the platform and meanwhile, the train arrived at 6 PM and we were in. All of us got our seats and soon the train left the station. Normally there are near about 60 berths in an AC coach and we were 50. The entire coach was filled with students and our journey started. It takes 1 day 17 hours to reach Chennai via train. There were some other passengers on remaining berths.

A Journey with Friends

Our journey started and we made different groups there were both boys and girls in our group. You can imagine a bogie full of students and there were only 4 teachers to take care of us. But our teachers were very good they didn’t stop us and they also enjoyed the journey with us. Soon it started to rain and it was an amazing experience to witness the rain on a train with my friends. Soon we started playing antakshari.

The entire bogie was divided into two groups and we started our game. Meanwhile one of the old age men on another birth started singing one of the famous songs ‘Zindagi Ek Safar hai Suhana’ and all of us followed and the entire coach was singing the song. It was an amazing moment and other passengers also enjoyed our company and joined us.

It was not only memorable for us but also for the old man, he told us that in his entire life he never enjoyed a train journey so much. After this, we had our dinner and all of us shared our food and enjoyed that evening. The next day there was a long queue for the washroom, all the students-maintained silence and rushed on the breakfast. The entire journey passed in an amazing way. We played various games and we also practiced our act in between and spend time with our friends.

A train journey can be so amazing, I didn’t realize before. Although I love traveling, this journey was something very close to my heart.

Some Special Moments

• When we spend some time in a certain place, we start feeling attached and the same happened, after spending near about two days on the train we got used to the environment and the beautiful scenario passing behind seems like a movie on our window. We passed through beautiful mountains rivers and it was raining at the same time.
• It was so special when our teachers sang with us and also danced, it was just possible because we traveled on train otherwise; we could never enjoy so much on an air route.
• We were away from our parents but our teachers took care of us and it was really special for me.
• We shared our thoughts, happiness, food, bed sheets, towels, etc. All these things brought us closer and strengthened the bonds of friendship.

Traveling helps us in many ways and the mode of travel makes your journey either the best or the worst. So, choose your mode carefully. It is not a big deal for those who always travel and love a train journey. But there are many who don’t like to travel via train because it takes a lot of time. But as per my experience if you have time and are traveling with family or friends then you should choose a train.
