Essay on My Favourite Day in a Year

December 18, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

There are 365 days in a year and choosing one among all these days is quite difficult. There are so many important days to choose from like birthday or during Puja festivals etc. For a Hindu, there is a festival in each month and choosing a particular day is difficult. However, there is one particular day that I love the most and that day happens to be the Christmas Day.

I am not a Christian and there is no one in my family related to anywhere near Christians but yet I love Christmas. I have always believed in Jesus Christ even though I am an atheist. It sounds odd for an atheist to believe in any god but I do and the god happens to be Jesus Christ.

The concept of Jesus Christ has always been appealing to me. I think of him as my god even though I am a Hindu. Everyone has their own belief and like that so do I.

Christians and their customs and rituals are absolute best for me at least. So, I just love Christmas and Santa Claus. Part of the reason why I love Christmas is because of Santa Claus. Christmas is considered as a sacred holiday all over the world and every where everyone waits for Christmas eagerly.

The history of Christmas is quite fascinating. Christmas represents the birth of Jesus Christ. It is popularly believed that on 25 th December, Jesus Christ was born among the animals on a stable near Bethlehem City. The birth of Jesus was signified by a bright star in the sky.

Angels told that Jesus was a saviour. From that point on, everyone knew that a saviour of mankind has born. Christmas is celebrated to honour the birth of Jesus Christ and it is considered as a day to give presents to the loved ones of the people.

In this day, it is also believed that Santa Claus visit everyone in the world in a sledge pulled by reindeers with presents for everybody. People also give each other presents on this day and in general, they place the presents under a Christmas tree.

Christmas is all about decorating the Christmas tree with ornaments and little lights so that during night it can glow brightly. Christmas is a best holiday for everyone in the world and it also signifies the end of a year. Christmas is magical.

I personally love Christmas because on that day we start the day by eating cake to celebrate the birth of Jesus. In my family that is how we start our Christmas day. We also give each other presents and pretend that Santa Claus came and gave us the gifts. It is a lot of fun in pretending that. After that I spend the day normally. During evening time, I go out with my family to visit a Church to see Christmas choir that takes place in all the Churches.

Also Christmas is the only day when the Churches remain open throughout the night so that people can visit the Church even at night. The Churches are decorated beautifully with lights and in front of most of the Churches; they do a theme of Jesus being born every year to give Christmas a special touch.

It gives me goose bumps to watch that scene when Jesus Christ is being born among the animals. The scene looks ethereal in my eyes. It’s like Jesus is being born all over again.

Christmas symbolizes as new light just like Jesus Christ who is considered as the new light of mankind. Christmas also means holiday time and New Year time. Christmas is the last celebration we have before New Year so it is very important festival in my case.

When the month December starts, the Christmas spirit is always in the air and it’s like a virus spreading throughout the world. It’s like the virus that no one wants to get rid of. Christmas spirit is always in the air and no matter where you look, you can actually taste the spirit in the tip of your tongue.

It may sound crazy, but that is how I feel before Christmas. The excitement is in the air all over the world. Christmas is a day that people everywhere celebrates despite their respective religion. Especially children, who wait for Christmas unlike anything they have waited for in their life and I also wait just like that.

Christmas has always been my favourite day and it may be frowned upon by the people who are hardcore believer of my religion but I don’t care. No one can take the importance and my love for Christmas Day from me. Even my parents tried but eventually they gave up and started celebrating Christmas like proper Christians along with me. I have immense respect for the Christians and absolutely love Christianity.

So I celebrate Christmas along with all the Christians with love and joy that comes out from the bottom of my heart. Christmas is always about the Santa Claus, gifts, cake and the most important of them all is the love that we feel from our heart. This love is something that I want to spread like wildfire among the people around me. The love that I have in my heart during Christmas wants to burst out from my heart and spread itself all around me.

I along with everyone in this world love Christmas. If I consider the fact that there are thousands and thousands of people love Christmas, then I am nowhere near special or anything but Christmas is something that even the mentions of its name makes me smile.

My dream is to go to Bethlehem once and spend the whole Christmas there. If there is anything like next life, then in my next life I would like to be born as a Christian. In my case Christmas spirit is a little too extreme; at least that’s what my family say about me.

My Favorite Day Of The Year Is My Birthday Essay

Every year, I feel extra happy and celebrate one special day. That day is my birthday! In this essay, I will explain why my birthday means so much to me and what makes it the best day ever. I will talk about my family and friends’ fun traditions to mark the occasion. By the end, you’ll understand why I look forward to my birthday all year.

Table of Contents

My Favorite Day of the Year – Birthday

Morning wishes and gifts.

My birthday always starts with a sweet surprise – waking up to cards, gifts and balloons waiting for me! (Topic sentence). My parents decorate my room with streamers and save the biggest present for last. I feel so lucky after opening gifts filled with clothes, toys and books. My friends also send messages wishing me a happy day, which makes me feel special. Enjoying this magical morning with those closest to me is the perfect start.

Birthday (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Fun with Family

Next, my whole family comes over to celebrate. We have my favorite snack – cookie cake for breakfast! (Transition). Then we play fun party games that always make me laugh, like pin the tail on the donkey or musical chairs. My family takes me to do something I love in the afternoon, like bowling, roller skating or the zoo. Sharing the day with loved ones who made me is very meaningful. Their company brings big smiles.

Party Time with Friends!

Later in the day comes the best part – my birthday party! All my friends come dressed in fun hats and shirts. We decorate cookies, make slime and play loud music while dancing crazy. (Topic sentence). For dinner, pizza and birthday cupcakes await. Seeing happy faces light the candles with me is magical. At the end, we watch a movie while stuffed with treats until it’s time for goodbyes. My friends make each celebration extra special and memorable.

Looking Back and Ahead

As the year passes, I cherish memories from past birthdays but anticipate the next. Growing up each year brings exciting new experiences with family and friends. Their unconditional love and support on my special day make me grateful and happy. Even when I’m grown up with my traditions, my friends and family will always make my birthday amazing each year, no matter what!

In conclusion, having one day where I am the most important person surrounded by my favorite people is why my birthday means so much to me. Between happy wishes, fun with family and celebrating with friends, my birthday makes me feel extra joyful each year. While other days come and go, my birthday remains my favorite for its magic and bringing loved ones together. I am thankful for the chance to feel extra cherished and appreciate those around me each year on my special day.

Short Essay: My Favourite Season

Everyone has a favorite season. Whether it’s the blossoming of spring, the warmth of summer, the colors of autumn, or the chill of winter, each season holds a unique charm and significance. Writing a short essay about your favorite season can be a delightful way to express your personal feelings and observations. Here’s how to articulate your fondness for a particular time of year in a structured and engaging way.

Table of Contents

Introduction

Begin with an introduction that captures the essence of your favorite season. Use sensory details to create a vivid image in the reader’s mind. This could be a personal anecdote or a series of striking descriptions that convey why this season stands out to you.

My Favourite Season Essay Example #1

Seasons come and go, each with its unique characteristics that make it stand out. However, my favorite season is autumn. It is a time of change and beauty. The cool weather, the beautiful foliage, and the many outdoor activities make it a season to look forward to. In this essay, I will explain why autumn is my favorite season.

My favorite season is autumn because of the cool weather and beautiful foliage. After the hot and humid summer, the cool weather that autumn brings is a welcome relief. The temperature is just right, not too hot and not too cold. The air becomes crisp and refreshing, making it perfect for outdoor activities. The leaves on the trees change color and fall, creating a beautiful landscape. The red, yellow, and orange colors of the leaves are a sight to behold. The cool weather and the beautiful foliage are the main reasons why autumn is my favorite season.

The changing colors of the leaves create a picturesque landscape that is a joy to behold. The red, yellow, and orange colors of the leaves make the landscape look like a painting. The changing colors of the leaves also symbolize change and remind us that nothing is permanent. The leaves fall, and the trees become bare, but they will grow new leaves in the spring. The changing colors of the leaves make autumn a season of reflection and appreciation.

In conclusion, autumn is my favorite season because of the cool weather, beautiful foliage, and the many outdoor activities. The cool weather makes it perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and apple picking, and the changing colors of the leaves create a picturesque landscape that is a joy to behold. Autumn is a season of change and reflection, and it reminds us that nothing is permanent.

My Favourite Season Essay Example #2

The first reason why autumn is my favourite season is the breathtaking foliage that it brings. As the leaves begin to change colour, the entire landscape transforms into a stunning display of red, orange, and yellow. The trees appear to be on fire, and it is truly a sight to behold. I love taking long walks during this time of year, admiring the beauty of nature and feeling the crisp air on my face. There is something incredibly peaceful about being surrounded by such natural beauty.

Another reason why I love autumn is the perfect weather it brings. The heat of summer has subsided, and the chill of winter has not yet arrived. This makes it the ideal time for outdoor activities such as hiking and apple picking. The cool, dry air is refreshing and invigorating, and it makes physical activity much more enjoyable. I love spending my weekends exploring the outdoors during this time of year, soaking up the beauty of the season and staying active at the same time.

In conclusion, autumn is my favourite season for many reasons. From the stunning foliage to the perfect weather and cozy atmosphere, there is so much to love about this time of year. Whether I am enjoying a brisk walk through the woods or cuddled up with a warm drink, I always feel a sense of peace and contentment during the autumn months. It is truly a special time of year, and I am grateful for the beauty and joy it brings to my life.

My Favourite Season Essay Example #3

The first reason why autumn is my favourite season is the cool, crisp air and beautiful fall foliage. The temperature during autumn is perfect, and the air is fresh, making it a pleasant experience to be outside. The fall foliage is another factor that makes this season unique. The leaves on trees change colour from green to yellow, orange, and red, creating a beautiful sight. Walking through a park or forest and seeing the leaves falling gently to the ground is a magical experience. Furthermore, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot adds to the autumn season’s beauty.

The second reason why autumn is my favourite season is the fun outdoor activities to enjoy. During this season, there are many activities to do, such as apple picking, hiking, and camping. Apple picking is a fun activity to do with friends and family, and it is an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while getting fresh fruit. Hiking is another activity that is enjoyable during autumn because the weather is perfect, and the fall foliage adds to the scenery’s beauty. Camping during autumn is a unique experience, and it is an opportunity to escape from the city’s hustle and bustle and relax in nature.

Who Will Do My Homework for Me?

In the age of the gig economy, it’s no wonder you can rent an apartment the world over, hail a driver through your smartphone, or pay people to do your homework. There are dozens of quality writing services online, and most work just like Uber or Airbnb. They connect freelance academic writers looking for extra cash with overworked students in need of help.

Buying homework is just like calling an Uber. You explain what you need, and the system automatically finds the person best suited to meet your requirements. The person doing homework for you is usually someone with a degree in your field of study with a couple of years of writing experience and a good reputation among students. And the best thing is that you don’t have to waste time screening writers; the writing company does the legwork for you. Even the payments work almost the same as with Uber, with the bulk of the sum going to the writer and a small commission awarded to the writing company that connected you two.

Will You Do My Homework for Me Cheap?

Do you want good paper or cheap paper?

There can’t be a third option that’s both good and cheap because we don’t live in a perfect world. The truth is there are cheaper services, but they usually hire undergrads from third-world countries to do the job. So when they pay their writers $2 per page, they can afford to charge you $8 and still make a profit.

We go the other way around and start with the best writers money can buy - professionals with proven credentials and writing experience. Of course, they don’t work for free, but we still manage to keep the prices manageable for most students. And if you want to save more - order early and look out for discount codes and special offers.

Why Should I Trust You to Do My Homework for Me Online?

When you think, ‘I need help with my homework,’ online services aren’t the first thing on your mind, especially with all the rumors about scams and plagiarism. And while there are some shady companies out there, you can entrust us with your assignments, as thousands of students have done already. To keep you safe, we guarantee

We respect your desire to keep the details of your order, your name and your college to yourself. And we will never disclose this information to third parties. You can be sure that no one from your class or school will learn about our deal unless you tell them. So be cool, and your little secret will remain safe with us.

Honest Refunds

We cannot promise to give your money back if you notice a couple of typos because our writers deserve to get paid for doing their jobs. What we do guarantee is to pay you back if you notice plagiarism or your paper is late. We are 100% sure that won’t happen, so you are perfectly safe every time you come to us asking, ‘Will you do homework for me?’

24/7/365 Support

You are not the only one to remember urgent assignments in the middle of the night or on the holiday weekend. Luckily for you, our writers are scattered across the time zones, along with our support agents, so there’s no chance you’ll be left alone with your school troubles. Reach out via live chat, email, or phone anytime, and we’ll be there to help.

Affordable Prices

We found the balance between high-quality writing and student-friendly rates for a real win-win. Just make sure you place the order as early as possible to enjoy the lowest prices. And keep an eye out for special offers and promo codes. Get in touch with our support team to get a first-time or regular client offer.

Tailored Writing

We don’t believe in standard solutions and make sure every piece is crafted with your specific requirements in mind. For best results, when you come to us asking, ‘Do my homework online for me,’ please provide us with a sample of your writing and your professor’s rubric. This way, you’ll get a paper that meets your needs to a T, and it will never raise suspicions in school.

Fast Delivery

Our experts can produce a solid paper in under six hours because they know the ins and outs of their respective fields and keep an eye out for the latest research trends. Unlike you, they don’t have to waste days looking for credible sources or outlining every argument. Their writing experience ensures you’ll get your assignment just in time.

It’s Always a Good Idea to Pay People to Do Your Homework

It’s all about your school and life goals.

If you got into college for a degree and better employment prospects, you need to get through the four years as fast as possible and make most of the networking opportunities the campus presents. In this case, when you ask us, ‘Write my homework for me,’ you’re making a wise and profitable investment in your future.

If you’re in school to learn and become the best in the field, it pays to outsource the assignments from all those required classes that have nothing to do with your major. There’s no sense in wasting your valuable time on homework that won’t do anything for your career prospects. It’s smarter to let professionals handle it while you focus on what really matters to you.

If you’re already in college and still have no idea what you want to do with your life, now is the time to sample everything campus life has to offer. And getting out of homework is the first step towards finding your passion, especially if your assignments are nothing but a series of dull essays on the same stale topics.

The Benefits of Write My Homework For Me Services

It’s not just about saving your time or getting out of boring schoolwork. When you buy a paper from us, we throw in a few free extras to make your experience even better.

Free Revisions

We guarantee your assignment will be perfect, and these aren’t empty promises. Our writers are that good, but they are also not afraid of producing the second, the third, or the tenth version of your paper. They will work on revisions for free until you are completely satisfied with the results. The only concession we ask of you is to give our writers time to rework your assignments. With sufficient leeway, they can work wonders.

Free Outline

We’ll throw in an outline of the paper to help you make sense of the structure. It may seem like a nuisance for an essay, but outlines are invaluable for long-form assignments, like research and term papers. Use it as you see fit, either to browse core ideas of the paper at a glance or as a guide to follow when working on a future homework assignment.

Perfect Formatting

We are taught not to judge books by their covers, but we all do, nonetheless. And that’s why every paper you get from us is formatted to perfection according to the current guidelines of your chosen style. You won’t find a single missing citation or reference, all because we stand on guard against plagiarism, even if it’s unintended or accidental.

Plagiarism-free

If plagiarism is your biggest concern when you’re thinking, ‘I want someone to write my homework,’ you can forget about your worries once you place an order with us. You won’t find a single sentence copypasted into your paper, a borrowed idea or an uncredited piece of data. Even if your school uses Turnitin or similar software, your homework will never raise red flags, and you’ll be 100% safe from any suspicions or accusations.

How can I get help with my homework?

Getting in touch with our support team is the easy way. Let them know what you need, and they’ll take you through the order process and keep you updated on its status. Or you can just set up an account and place an order like you would at Amazon. Once you pay for the assignment, we’ll take care of the rest.

Is paying someone to do your homework illegal?

Not really. We don’t know of any country that has laws against paying for getting your homework done. However, you should check with your school’s code and regulations. Some colleges and universities frown upon getting professional writing help.

How much does it cost for assignment help?

The prices range from around $10 per page to over $200 per page. High-school-level assignments on extended deadlines are the cheapest, while rush-order admission essays are the most expensive. Doctorate-level writing is also quite expensive. If you’re not sure you can afford to pay for homework help, use our calculator to get an instant quote.

Is assignment writing illegal?

No! It’s like asking if doing homework is illegal. You don’t see tutors, writing coaches or TAs getting arrested and put behind bars for helping students complete their assignments. For now, there’s not a single country in the world that prohibits assignment writing.

Who can help me with my homework?

There are plenty of offers of homework help online, both among freelance writers and academic help agencies. All you have to do is decide who you’re willing to trust - an anonymous freelancer or a respectable company with years of experience and hundreds of reviews from happy customers. Besides, no writer can cover your every class, but essay writing companies employ hundreds of experts who can do your homework on any topic.

Can I hire someone to do my homework?

You sure can. And with us, you don’t have to waste time choosing the perfect writer for your assignment. We’ll do the heavy lifting for you and find the right person to take care of your homework. As long as you provide us with enough details about your paper, we guarantee to match you with an expert.

What should I look for in a homework company?

Good reputation, realistic prices, transparent terms, and policies are all signs of a reliable writing service. So take your time when researching company background and genuine reviews, read the fine print in legalese. And don’t fall for the cheapest rates you see because they will likely cost you extra in the end.

Can you do my homework for me on any topic?

We employ hundreds of experts in dozens of academic fields, so there’s a 99.9% chance we can do your homework on any topic. But if you think that your major is too obscure or complex for us to handle, get in touch with our support team before placing an order. They will be able to look up the experts in your field and answer any questions about them.

Can you do my homework for me with zero plagiarism?

That’s the only way we do it! Plagiarism is a blight on academia that we’re set on eradicating one original paper at a time. So any piece you get from us will pass plagiarism checks like Turnitin with flying colors.

Can you deliver my homework within the deadline?

Sure, we promise your homework will be ready within the timeframe you set. Even if you only give our expert six hours to work on your assignment, you will receive it with time to spare.

15 Prompts for Talking and Writing About the Holidays and the New Year

Share your traditions, weigh in on a seasonal debate, write a creative story or reflect on the year behind you while preparing for the one ahead.

Hands fill up plates from dishes of food on a table with a red tablecloth. A bowl with a green salad is in the center of the table, and next to it is a casserole dish of macaroni and cheese and a candleholder with six red candles.

Merry Christmas , happy Hanukkah , joyous Kwanzaa and happy New Year.

To celebrate the season, we’ve rounded up 15 prompts we’ve written over the years that you can use for writing or discussion in the classroom, among your friends or at your holiday gatherings. You might talk about your beloved family traditions, weigh in on a seasonal debate, write a holiday-themed short story or poem, or reflect on the year behind you and prepare for the one ahead.

Each of these prompts was inspired by a New York Times article, essay or image, and many of them are still open for comment for students 13 or older.

For more writing prompts and conversation-starters, see our related column .

1. What Holiday or Holidays Are You Celebrating This Month?

Hanukkah? Christmas? Kwanzaa? A combination? Something else? Use this prompt to talk or write about your own holiday celebrations — or those that other families have that you wish you could be a part of.

35 Unique Ways To Introduce Yourself to Students This Year

It’s all about that first impression!

my favorite day of the year essay

If you’re looking for a new and creative way to introduce yourself to students this year, we’ve got you covered! We gathered lots of terrific ideas, including some from teachers on the WeAreTeachers HELPLINE group on Facebook . They range from quick and easy options to some that will take some planning, but they’re all great ways to start the new year off on the right note.

1. Do a Teacher Feature on school social media

Teacher Feature page on Instagram showing how to introduce yourself to students and parents

Lots of schools use their social media accounts to introduce teachers, like this example from @tstlongview . Propose the idea at your school, suggesting they do a teacher a day in the weeks leading up to back-to-school time.

2. Have last year’s students introduce you

A sample of an introduction letter from a student

This fun learning activity not only allows your current students to introduce you to next year’s class, it gives you a chance to get feedback about how this year has gone! See how this teacher runs the lesson with her students .

3. Send postcards to introduce yourself

Postcard with QR card that teachers can use to introduce yourself to students

No time for a full letter? Try postcards instead. “I took a picture of me playing fetch with my trusty golden retriever and sent it to each of my new students over the summer,” James C. shares. “On the back, I wrote a short note introducing myself and telling them how excited I was to have them in my class.” See how The Techie Teacher uses this idea here.

4. Show them a slideshow

Computer monitor showing a Meet the Teacher slideshow

Lots of teachers use a slideshow to introduce themselves. We’ve made it even easier to create one with our free editable template—grab it here !

5. Introduce yourself with a quiz

Kahoot! quiz question reading

First-day quizzes are a really popular way to introduce yourself to students. Kahoot even has an easy-to-customize template just for getting to know your teacher! Lisa T. does a slideshow about herself on the first day and then follows up on the second day with a quiz to see how much they remember.

6. Share your talents

An older woman playing the guitar as an example of ways to introduce yourself to students

Students expect the usual bio intro—I’m Ms. Smith, I’ve been teaching for 10 year, etc. But why not open with a bit of pizzazz by sharing one of your unique talents with students? Play a song on your trumpet, pass out cookies you made, display a quilt you made. Opening up with something personal will encourage your students to do the same.

7. Plan a meet-the-teacher escape room

Students solving a task in a classroom escape room

Source: @thekellyteachingfiles

OK, we admit this is going to take some work. But it’s a surefire way to amp up student excitement from day one! Set up an escape room to help kids learn more about you and explore the classroom at the same time. See how Mskcpotter does it here.

8. Play 20 Questions

Students at desks raising their hands and teacher pointing at one student

After a brief introduction, open the floor to students’ questions about yourself and the coming year. This is a great way to reveal students’ wishes and hopes for the year as well as any concerns that are lurking beneath the surface. Be sure to have a “pass” option if students ask any questions that are too personal for you so you can deflect with good humor.

9. Use a student-created brochure

Brochure entitled

Emily F. lets her previous year’s class help her introduce herself to incoming students. Then she gives a quiz to see if kids really took the time to read it! “At the end of the year, I have my students make a brochure for next year’s students. If the kids read it, they get a lot of answers to my quiz questions right.” Looking for a template? We like this one from Teacher Trap .

10. Decorate a Bitmoji virtual classroom

Bitmoji classroom for AP Psychology

Whether you’re teaching in person or online, Bitmoji classrooms are a fantastic way to show off your personality. This one from The Social Studies World of Ms. J has clickable images to take students to different important links.  Learn how to create your own here.

11. Read, run, and write

Smiling students gathered in a circle writing on paper with pencils

Get your students working collaboratively and focusing on their writing skills right away with this activity from the Busy Teacher . Write a list of facts about yourself—your background, family, hobbies, etc.—and post several copies of the list in the front of the room.

Divide your class into small teams and give each team a sheet of paper. One student in each group will stay at their desk while the others take turns running up to the board, reading and memorizing as much as they can before running back to the student at the desk who will listen and write down what they’re told. The first group to correctly write down the full list wins.

12. Build a word cloud

Word cloud in the shape of an apple for a teacher as an example of ways to introduce yourself to students

Word clouds are fun to make, and you can use this as an activity for all your students on the first day if you like. Make your own using instructions from Happy Hooligans using words that describe your background, hobbies, style, and more. Plus, check out these free word cloud generators for teachers .

13. Set up a question-and-answer match

Fun get to know you questions in orange thought bubbles on a pink background

Fourth grade teacher Lori Silviera shares this fun activity: “I make Q and A’s on index cards about me,” she says, “and then the students try to find a classmate who has the answer or question that matches the card they get. After they partner, the person with the question reads it and then the partner that has the answer reads it to the rest of the class. For example: How many pets do I have? (One cat named Lenny).”

14. Pop an emoji bubble

Emoji Bubble Pop Introductions! with various face emojis and facts about a teacher

We love this clever little game that works with Google Slides and is perfect for virtual or traditional classrooms. Students pick an emoji and “pop” the bubble, and you answer the question to tell them a bit about yourself. Kids can play too! Get the game from SSSTeaching on Teachers Pay Teachers .

15. Create a Fakebook profile

Photo of Harry Potter and Professor McGonagall on a Fakebook profile for Minerva McGonagall

It’s not a great idea to show students your real social media pages. Instead, create a “Fakebook” profile, like teacher Marissa Q. does. Use the free online tool , or mock up one on paper, sharing interesting facts, photos, and other info about you that you’re comfortable with kids knowing.

16. Model a survey

A first day of school questionnaire template as a resource to introduce yourself to students on the first day of school

Try this fun and educational activity from the Art of Education. Student questionnaires/surveys are a great way to get to know your students, and for students to have an opportunity to share things with you at the start of the school year. Ask things like, “Do you have a nickname or middle name that you go by instead of what is on the roster?” “What is your preferred pronoun?” “How do you like to receive feedback?” etc. We like this list of questions from the Inspiration Board.

17. Let students research your life

Stack of old letters and photographs

Introduce yourself to your students with a lesson on gathering info from trustworthy primary sources . “I give students a stack of primary documents from my life (letters, report cards, class pictures, etc.) with all the sensitive information blacked out,” eighth grade teacher Phil L. says. “I ask the students to create a timeline from that information, hypothesize about what happened in the gaps, and draw conclusions about the kind of person they think I am.”

18. Try a game of This and That

Students legs extended on a colorful rug in a circle, with strands of yarn connected in a web between them

Your new students will love this hands-on “get to know you” game from Amateur Craft Hour . The game begins with the first person securing a ball of yarn to their wrist. Then, they choose a stick with a word written on each side—for example, fame and money. They choose which one they would prefer. Then, they ask those who would make the same choice to raise their hand and toss the yarn to one of them. Play continues until the yarn has woven quite a web illustrating that we are all connected in some way.

19. Hold a scavenger hunt

Detective kit with clue cards, detective notes, and manila envelope as an example of ways to Introduce Yourself to Students

Jan R. expands on the research activity by turning her students into detectives. She puts all the documents in envelopes marked TOP SECRET and stashes them around her room. She even gives them magnifying glasses to read the fine print! Use the free printables from Moms & Munchkins to make this even more fun.

20. Introduce yourself in a movie

It’s a bit more work, but teachers point out that you can use these to introduce yourself again and again. Plus, a movie works in both regular and virtual classrooms. Many teachers already have access to iMovie on their school computers. Learn how to use it here.

21. Introduce yourself on Flip

Flipgrid Page showing students introducing themselves

Flip (formerly Flipgrid) is the best interactive tool you’re not using yet. It allows teachers and kids to record and safely post short videos … and it’s completely free! Record a Flip video to introduce yourself to students, then have them do the same. Whether you’re teaching in person or online, this is such a fun way for everyone to get to know each other.

22. Let them do the math

Figure Me Out chart with questions like My Age: 13 x 3

Sneak a little math review into your teacher introduction with this clever idea! Come up with a series of facts about you that can be represented in numbers, then turn those into math problems. This works at a variety of grade levels, and kids always get such a kick out of it! Learn more from The Magnificent Fourth Grade Year .

23. Design a T-shirt

Drawing of a t-shirt decorated with pictures of a volleyball, football, house, and more as a way to introduce yourself to students

Wear your personality on your sleeve! Draw the outline of a shirt and decorate it with information about yourself. Have your students do the same and then use them to adorn your room, like Counseling Corner does. (Feeling ambitious? Decorate and wear a real T-shirt instead!)

24. Draw a name map

Name map for Mrs. Henderson with apple in the middle and books, pencil, paint palette, and other images around the sides

Mapping is an excellent writing strategy, and you can teach the concept early on with a fun name map. Create one to introduce yourself on the first day of class, then have your students do the same. Find out more from TeachWithMe.com .

25. Put together a name tent

Name tent with photo of teacher and fun facts

Name tents work in traditional or virtual classrooms. In an in-person classroom, prop this on your desk for the first week or so. Online, post the image during breaks or leave it on the corner of the screen. (Kids can do this activity too!) Learn more from Spark Creativity .

26. Give them the scoop on you

Paper ice cream sundae with fun facts about a teacher written on each scoop as an example of ways to introduce yourself to students

Is there any cuter way to introduce yourself to your students? If you really want to guarantee yourself the “best teacher ever” award, you could have an ice cream sundae party to go along with it! Learn more from True Life I’m a Teacher .

27. Let your star shine

Star of the Week bulletin board with photos and facts about a teacher

“Every week during the year, one student is Star of the Week and they get to display a collage of their favorite things in the classroom,” says Judith G. “For the first week, I’m the star and my collage allows my students to get to know me.” Use this example from Amanda Hager on Pinterest for inspiration.

28. Dress the part

Fun patterned dresses with maps, stars, galaxies, and more

“I know my students think of me as a bit of a geek (hey, what can I say, I’m a math teacher!) so I totally geek out for the first day of school,” admits Greg S. “I wear a pi T-shirt and thick glasses and really play up the geeky math teacher thing.” Want to go all out? Try these teacher dresses that make you look just like Ms. Frizzle!

29. Play Red Light, Green Light, getting-to-know-you style

All About My Teacher printable worksheet

Here’s a fun twist on the classic “Two Truths and a Lie” (another teacher-introduction favorite). Line kids up on one end of the room or playground. Stand on the other side, and make a statement about yourself. If students think the statement is true, they take one step forward. If they’re wrong, they go back to the start! The first student to reach you is the winner. Learn more about this unique way to introduce yourself from Rulin’ the Roost .

30. Write an autobiographical poem

Autobiographical poems with photos on colored backgrounds

This idea comes from Brianna H., who says, “I like to do an autobiographical poem. I do a model about myself to use as a guide for them. Students write their own using the template and then write it on construction paper and cut out images to create a collage around it.” See this project in action from Melulater.

31. Show them you’re one part of the puzzle

Congressman’s son steals the spotlight while his dad delivers remarks at the Capitol

A U.S. representative's 6-year-old son became a hit with news junkies after videos of him making hilarious faces during his dad's speech on the House floor went viral.

On June 3, Rep. John Rose of Tennessee brought his young son Guy with him to the Capitol where he stole the show by sticking out his tongue as his dad spoke out against former president Donald Trump’s recent felony convictions on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment during the 2016 presidential election.

In a video posted by C-SPAN on X , Rose speaks while unaware that young Guy is sitting behind him mugging for the camera.

Congressman's son puts on quite the performance on the House floor

Guy begins his show by grinning for the camera before sticking out his tongue and rolling his eyes upward. At other points, the fidgety child busies himself by making various shapes with his hands.

He also plays with a green squeeze toy and waves directly at the camera.

Congressman's son puts on quite the performance on the House floor

“This is what I get for telling my son Guy to smile at the camera for his little brother,” Rose wrote alongside C-SPAN's video while sharing it with his own followers on X .

Rose shares Guy and a younger son, Sam, with his wife, Chelsea, according to his official website.

Congressman's son puts on quite the performance on the House floor

Guy's new fans celebrated his star-making C-SPAN debut on X.

"He found the camera immediately, lol," wrote one.

"Kiddo is adorable," said another.

Others compared the little boy's cute antics to former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani’s son, Andrew, who at age 7 made New Yorkers laugh when he upstaged his dad's January 1994 inaugural address by waving and blowing kisses to the crowd.

The younger Giuliani, who also splashed his dad's legs with cold water after knocking over a pitcher, inspired a hilarious “Saturday Night Live” sketch starring Chris Farley as him and Kevin Nealon as his politician dad.

Congrats, grad!

Heidi Klum celebrated her son Henry’s high school graduation Friday and proudly posted some videos from the milestone event on Instagram.

Two clips showed the 18-year-old walking across the stage to grab his diploma and then posing with a sideways peace sign.

Klum, 51, and her husband, Tom Kaulitz, 34, could be heard cheering for Henry in the background.

“CONGRATULATIONS HENRY … We are all sooo proud of you ❤️,” the proud mother of four gushed in the caption. “You did it my beautiful boy. College here we come 🥳🎉 SHINE BRIGHT ❤️.”

Klum also recorded a video of her eldest son walking out of the auditorium with a beaming grin across his face as they hollered at him. He was robed in a purple gown and cap with a white stole layered on top.

After graduation wrapped up, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel took to her Instagram Story to document the evening’s festivities, which included a private dinner.

Klum showed off the “Congrats Grad” confetti decorating the wooden dinner table and matching balloons, plus a variety of desserts on her plate. She also posted a selfie video of her and Henry puckering their lips and making kissing noises at the camera.

Klum also posted a photo from the celebratory dinner that appeared to include her, Kaulitz, Henry and her three other children: Leni, 20, Johan, 17, and Lou, 14. Some of Henry’s friends also seemed to attend.

Klum shares her three youngest kids with ex-husband Seal. Leni’s biological father is Italian businessman Flavio Briatore, but the “Kiss From a Rose” singer, 61, adopted the young model when she was five.

Leni graduated high school in 2022 and moved to the Big Apple from Los Angeles to start college.

Election latest: Sunak not taking questions amid talk of Tory battle to succeed him - as Dragon joins Starmer at brewery

A poll has found Reform's Nigel Farage would be the favourite to take over as Tory leader if Rishi Sunak loses the election. Labour says the Conservatives are already battling over the succession. Earlier, the transport secretary denied that the PM's D-Day blunder had lost the election.

The Lib Dems have announced plans to create 1,000 new  hospital beds to end the "corridor crisis" in hospitals.

The party is ramping up its focus on health and social care ahead of its manifesto launch next week, which will include a dedicated chapter on care.

The issue is personal to leader Sir Ed Davey, who is a carer for his son John, who has a neurological condition and learning difficulties.

On the campaign trail in Wokingham, Berkshire on Saturday, he told broadcasters: "The Liberal Democrats are putting health and care right at the centre of our election campaign, and on ambulance delays and waiting times, it's been a crisis.

"We've seen in some parts of the country people's loved ones dying before the ambulances arrive.

"We've seen queues at hospitals as ambulances are waiting to hand over their patients and something has to be done."

Sir Ed said he would "turn around this mess the Conservatives have made" by investing £400m per year to add an extra 1,000 staffed beds in hospitals.

The party says this would help end excessive handover delays and the scandal of patients waiting in corridors to be treated.

It has also pledged an upfront capital investment of £280 million to expand urgent treatment centres and A&E wards.

The Lib Dems did not say where the money was coming from, but insisted the the pledge is "fully funded" and more detail will be unveiled in their manifesto - which will include a chapter on care.

Rachel Reeves has accused the Tories of acting like Jeremy Corbyn with a "fantasy manifesto".

The shadow chancellor, who campaigned twice to be an MP under Mr Corbyn's watch, has written an op-ed in The Sun in which she said she "totally rejects" the former Labour leader's approach.

Accusing the Tories of making unfunded promises to cut taxes, Ms Reeves said: "The approach the Conservatives are taking now is the same as the approach Jeremy Corbyn took - and I totally reject it.

"I’m not going to offer you a fantasy manifesto that writes cheques we could never cash. I will never do this."

CCHQ were quick to point out that Ms Reeves, an MP since 2010, will have campaigned twice for Mr Corbyn's manifesto - at the 2017 and 2019 general elections.

"Imagine her shock when she finds out she campaigned for this manifesto, and to make Jeremy Corbyn Prime Minister… twice", they said in a post on X.

The Labour shadow cabinet have been at pains to stress how much the party has changed since its historic defeat at the 2019 election.

Ms Reeves in particular has been painting herself as fiscally conservative, in sharp contrast to Mr Corbyn who made a number of big spending pledges such as free school meals and the abolition of tuition fees.

The latest attack could risk angering the Labour left, who are keen to see greater spending commitments.

But Ms Reeves made clear there would be no surprise spending announcements in the party's manifesto when it launches next week, repeating her mantra: "We are a changed Labour Party. I will never play fast and loose with your money."

Question. If a prime minister is heckled at a rally and there's no backdrop scandal to imbue it with meaning, should it still end up on the news?

I ask because so often in election campaigns, individual and often innocuous events get sucked into the black hole of a political narrative and spat out as something very different and much more dangerous.

Exhibit A - the torrid two days Rishi Sunak has had after his early departure from the D-Day commemorations.

Such was the scale of this saga that even a solitary road sign in rural Gloucestershire was transformed into a symbol of the hapless Tory campaign stumbling from one PR disaster to another - simply because it read "Veterans Way" and happened to be next to a school the prime minister was visiting.

A GP with gripes about the widening of access to medical care topped off the party's hell day after she interrupted Mr Sunak at a rally in Wiltshire.

This was inevitably seen as another blow for the embattled campaign, despite the prime minister giving a fairly convincing defence of his policy.

You wonder how such a situation would have been received had it happened to Sir Keir Starmer - the drama potentially diluted by his huge lead in the polls and polished campaign machine.

None of this is to deny the importance of the D-Day story.

As one pollster put it, the debacle seemed almost "laser guided" to inflict the maximum amount of damage on a leader leaking votes to the right and facing frequent accusations of being out of touch.

That was certainly evident in Bishop Auckland on Saturday.

The Tories took this seat for the first time ever in 2019, but metres from a Conservative campaign stop one former candidate for the party told Sky News he could "never vote for that man" after events of the past two days.

"He's leading them off the cliff like rats following the Pied Piper," he said.

So how can Rishi Sunak change the weather?

Read Rob's full analysis below...

The polls are stubbornly refusing to move for the Conservatives.

Sky's latest average poll tracker shows Labour on 43.6% while the Conservatives trail on 22.8% - a commanding lead.

And - despite Rishi Sunak appealing to the right of his core vote with policies on immigration and national service, Nigel Farage's Reform party are nipping at the Tories' heels.

One YouGov poll this week showed the party on 17% - just two points behind the Conservatives on 19%.

Conservative peer and poll expert Lord Hayward has said the Tories have been "flatlining" in the polls.

"I think the polls have somewhat overestimated the Labour lead but it's still solid and it's still very substantial," he tells the Politics Hub.

He says Reform's position is "dangerous" to all other parties.

"What's interesting is that Reform, and other disruptor parties like the Greens, are taking away votes from the major parties," he adds.

"It will hit all parties, not just the Conservatives, and this what people have to be aware of nbecause voter loyalty is very low."

He adds that he believes his party's chances of achieving a majority is going to be "pretty difficult".

Ali Fortescue is joined now by our political correspondent Tamara Cohen , and the pair are discussing whether the Conservatives can dig themselves out of the hole they've found themselves in after a bad week.

Tamara says there is a lot of deep despair in the Tory ranks.

"Rishi Sunak refusing to speak to journalists today and just look at the seats that they're visiting. The prime minister in Bishop Auckland, where the Conservatives have an 8,000 majority," she says.

"Whereas Labour today is in Aldershot - a seat the Conservatives have held for 100 years.

"Next week we have the manifestos released. Is that a moment for Rishi Sunak to regain a bit of momentum?

"We've also got more debates including our election event and the Tories are chucking out a lot of ideas here."

Next up on the show is Labour's shadow treasury minister James Murray.

Ali begins by asking him about Labour's plan to overhaul the business rates system if it gets into power.

Mr Murray explains that his party wants to replace the current system with one that "rebalances the burden away from high streets and make sure that online giants pay their fair share".

"People want high streets to thrive... but at the moment they pay a disproportionate amount of tax through business rates," he adds.

He explains that bricks and mortar stores would be given extra support under a Labour government.

He reiterates Labour's pledge to not rejoin the single market, the customs union and it will not have the freedom on movement again.

But he says that the party wants to "reduce friction" with the European Union to improve the economy.

Business Minister Kevin Hollinrake is the first guest to appear on tonight's Politics Hub with Ali Fortescue.

He is asked about the Conservatives defenders seemingly missing in action, saying everybody's time in politics eventually comes to an end, and they have their own decisions to make.

Mr Hollinrake is among those standing again as an MP.

"Politics isn't the only thing to do in your life," he adds. "But there are some fantastic people coming through, and we have a fantastic leader in Rishi Sunak."

Ali pushes him on the criticism surrounding Sunak over his decision to leave D-Day commemorations early.

"He made a mistake, and he was of course in the commemorations in the UK and in the British commemorations in France," Mr Hollinrake says, adding that the PM has apologised.

He adds that only one person he has spoken to in his constituency have raised D-Day as an issue.

"I think it's time now to talk about other issues," he says.

Moving on now to the Ultra Low Emission Zone in London, he insists the Conservatives want to make sure the cost of moving to a cleaner environment is "sensible and proportionate".

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been trying to move on from anger over his decision to leave D-Day commemorations early – today he refused to speak to journalists.

Last night though, a cabinet minister speaking on live TV told the country his decision was "very wrong".

But where have all those who would be out defending the Conservatives got to?

Boris Johnson, long-time deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, Sajid Javid, Liz Truss, even Michael Gove, have all deserted the field.

None - apart from Liz Truss - are even standing at the election.

Here's our political correspondent Rob Powell's latest report from today's campaign trail...

In the last few moments, Rishi Sunak has posted on X about the release of four Israeli hostages in Gaza.

He said it was a "huge relief" to see them returned home after their "unimaginable ordeal".

"We will continue to strive towards an end to the fighting as well as safety and security for all," he added.

Earlier, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer reposted a message from shadow foreign secretary David Lammy, which said the hostage's rescue was a "glimmer of hope in the darkness".

Tonight's show begins with a look at the rescue of four Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity in Gaza earlier today.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his forces had acted with "creativity and boldness" and they will not relent until all hostages have been returned home.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has accused Israeli forces of a "bloody massacre".

The Hamas-run government in the enclave has said at least 210 Palestinians were killed during the rescue mission.
