2. Personal networks
It’s a cliche tip but it’s the truth — networking can be an incredibly effective way to get work as a ghost . More experienced writers can reach out to previous clients who probably know other authors in need of writerly expertise. New freelance writers can ask family and friends; you’d be surprised how many good stories are lying underneath our everyday lives, waiting for a chance to shine. If you know someone who has a great story they might be comfortable sharing with the world — it could be a business experience, or perhaps a personal journey — pitch the idea to them and see if they’re interested!
💡 Pro-tip: Just because it’s personal doesn’t mean that you have to have met your contacts face-to-face! You can build a personal network on social media platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter as well.
3. Chicken Soup
Remember those soulful short story collections that took the world by storm in the early 2000s? The original authors have been and are still self-publishing lovely compilations throughout the years. They’re always looking for fresh new stories , and though it’s not a long-term gig, the theme varies with time so you can submit different pieces every now and then. For each story (which are capped at 1,200 words), the contributor gets paid $200.
4. Poets & Writers
Poets & Writers collects a wide range of job opportunities for US-based writers who want to enter the publishing industry. There are editorial assistant gigs , teaching jobs, advertising jobs, all of which are related to the sphere of writing one way or another. It’s constantly updated so bookmark it and come back whenever you need a new lead!
5. Quill and Quire
For those based in Canada, Quill and Quire ’s job board is the place to go. The magazine posts full-time, part-time , freelance, and remote positions in publishing houses big and small. Writing jobs are just one of the many professions they promote, so you get options to expand beyond writing. You can also subscribe to their newsletter to get the latest updates sent to your inbox.
6. Publishers Marketplace
If you don’t mind writing-adjacent jobs like editing, you can’t ignore Publishers Marketplace . Just from its name, you know that this is a no-nonsense site that aggregates the latest job postings in the industry. One thing to note is that they tend to list vacancies at traditional publishing houses, so qualifications such as an MFA or editing certificates are often (but not always) a requirement.
Are you open to having an editorial job while you write on the side? You can always find employment opportunities directly at publishing houses’ websites. Big 5 publishers are obvious options, but there are also a lot of indie publishers to check out. Below are a handful of companies that offer part-time or short-term opportunities for those who prefer a freelance-esque working experience.
7. Graywolf Press
Graywolf Press consistently puts out dozens of titles every year, fiction and nonfiction, that amplify the voices of underrepresented groups. The company offers seasonal paid internships and an annual fellowship for those new to jobs in the creative writing space , which you can read about here . Both positions are part-time.
8. The Coffee House Press
It started out small but The Coffee House Press has grown into a boundary-pushing company that brings out thoughtful and award-winning titles. The perks of working at this publishing house goes beyond its exciting projects — there are also remote opportunities !
9. Soho Press
Based in New York, Soho Press is at the heart of the publishing world. The company is recognized for its mystery-specific imprint, and it offers seasonal paid internships , both on- and offline, for those who are interested.

If you love sci-fi and fantasy, then look no further, Tachyon Publications is where you should apply to. They’re almost always looking for freelance copy editors and proofreaders to help out with new releases, and you might even find in-house opportunities to join their staff and office pets!
For jobs in media, culture, and journalism

12. Catapult

The company offers classes, runs a magazine, and publishes both nonfiction and fiction titles, so there are several ways you can work with them. If you want to put pen to paper, you’ll be glad to know that the magazine’s always looking for new columnists — you pitch them here .
13. The Atavist Magazine
The Atavist takes creative nonfiction to another level with their monthly long-form stories. Rather than looking for popular profiles, they want you to delve into a character-driven recount of ordinary lived experiences. Their articles are 8,000 to 30,000 words long, so they’re almost like novelettes or novellas , and they offer a baseline payment of $6,000 per story. Find out more about how to pitch them here .
14. Narratively
Another story-based nonfiction magazine, Narratively is an alternative for those who love finding hidden stories in life but would prefer to work on something shorter than an Atavist piece. Narratively asks for unique stories with a clear arc that engages the reader, so some creative writing skills are crucial. They pay around 0.10$ per word, and most articles are within the 2,000-5,000 words range.
15. Boulevard Magazine
If you want to write short stories and get paid for it, consider submitting to Boulevard . They’re open to fiction, non-fiction, and poetry submissions from November 1 to May 1, and they pay up to $300 per prose piece and $250 per poem. As with most literary magazines, you will have to space out your submissions , so this won’t pay the bill by itself. Still, it’s a bit of income you can add to your pocket every now and then!
16. Electric Literature
You might’ve heard of Electric Literature — it publishes fiction in its two weekly magazines ( Recommended Reading and The Commuter ) along with plenty of interviews, essays, and book listicles on its website. If you succeed in submitting a piece of flash fiction, short story, poetry, an interview, or an essay, you can earn between $75 and $300. They also host an annual short story contest, with an entry fee of $25, that can earn you $1,000.
✍ Interested in writing contests? Join Reedsy’s weekly short story contest and get the chance to win $250!
17. Longreads
Whether you have a reading list or a unique story to share, Longreads is happy to hear about it. The editors are looking for short listicles and extensive features — you can pitch to them according to these guidelines . Their rates are competitive, and they encourage you to keep sending them pitches even if they didn’t accept you the first time around.
18. Hyperallergic
Looking for freelance writing jobs outside the realm of fiction and authorship but are still related to art and culture? If you’re not one to miss out on the latest exhibitions and you keep up with the art world, you can write for Hyperallergic . They appreciate well-researched magazine articles that display interesting opinions, and they pay around $100 per piece. You can also go for a 10-week paid internship for a more extensive experience with them.
19. Vox Media
If you want to go for full-time writing and editing positions at a news outlet, check out Vox Media . With many magazines and ezines under its umbrella, from the culinary publication Eater to cultural sites like The Verge, there are plenty of vacancies to be filled. You’ll find a mix of entry and senior level positions on their board, many of which are available remotely.
20. MediaBistro
For those eager to dive into multimedia production, there isn’t a more comprehensive job hub than MediaBistro . On this site, you can find a wide variety of jobs in magazines (including magazine editor positions , if you're ever interested), television companies, movie studios — the list goes on. While this selection does include more administrative positions, they still provide great inroads into journalist and screenwriting careers.
21. Journalism Jobs
Another option is Journalism Jobs , where you can find pretty much all positions available in the media world. You can try your hand at op-ed and article writing, or you can start editing for newspapers. The work is fast-paced and fact-based, and there’s plenty of room to hone your writing skills!
For marketing and PR jobs
Copywriting and content writing remains one of the most common freelance jobs for those who love words nowadays, which is why it’s a section we can’t overlook. Let’s check out some marketing and PR writing opportunities for you.
22. Contently
As its name suggests, this job marketplace is all about content marketing. Brands and freelancers unite on the same site so that writers can be matched with projects they’re suitable for. The network of clients on Contently includes companies like American Express and GE, which means the pay can be as high as $1 per word in some niches. In exchange, the quality of work has to be top-notch. As such, new writers might find that it takes a while before they get a job via Contently.
23. The Dots
This UK-based creative network functions like LinkedIn: it’s a space for creatives to showcase their profile, mingle with fellow workers, collaborate with one another, and apply to jobs. From TATE to Conde Nast to Burberry, there are global corporations on-site, searching for the next writer to strengthen their business. If you want to connect with like-minded people and keep your eyes peeled for high-profile opportunities, consider joining The Dots’s community .
24. Problogger
Focusing on helping bloggers earn more income, Problogger shares short-form ghostwriting gigs , content writing, and even copy editing job opportunities without asking you to sign up or create an account with them. But consider signing up anyway if you want email updates regarding new vacancies in your preferred niches.
25. Freelance Writing Jobs
Freelance Writing curates a list of opportunities for writers in all industries, including marketing. It’s alway being updated, so be sure to check in every now and then or subscribe to their newsletter to be caught up! There’s really no fuss to the website — it’s just a very handy resource for those looking for freelance writing jobs.
26. Freelancer.com
Alternatively, you can check out Freelancer.com . This page lets you bid on writing jobs, and each client will select the freelancer most suitable for them. The problem with a site like this is balancing the competitiveness of your price with the value of your work so that you don’t undercharge. Doing some research on how much freelance ghostwriters charge beforehand will be necessary if you’re new to the craft.
27. Upwork
Another freelancer site you probably already know of is Upwork . While it uses the same mechanism as Freelancer, Upwork is a little more selective about its freelancers. They vet all applications, which means that you will have less people to compete with. Keep in mind though that, like Freelancer.com, Upwork is known for its lower rates.
And that’s it, those are 27 places where you can find some rewarding and legitimate freelance writing jobs. Apply with your best writing samples and we’re sure you’ll be able to find something for yourself. Good luck!

by Victoria Peel-Yates
on May 27, 2024
In 2019, I was a newbie freelance writer with no qualifications, no experience, and no idea how to find creative writing jobs.
Fast-forward three years, and I’m a full-time writer at a marketing agency and a Smart Blogger freelancer on the side.
So I can tell you it is possible to find creative writing jobs and start a lucrative side hustle or full-time business — even without experience or qualifications.
This post will round up the 22 best places to land your first paid writing gig.
Many of these platforms have helped me find work, and they can do the same for you.

How Much Can Creative Writers Earn?
How much you can earn as a creative writer depends on your writing skills and experience level, but it’s safe to say you can make a decent living as a writer.
Estimates vary, but the average salary for a freelance writer seems to be around $50-$70,000:
- Salary.com places it at $53,286 (range: $39,277-$66,770)
- Recruiter.com estimates $78,680 (range: $35,880 to $133,460)
- Zippia puts it at $73,095 (range: $46,000-$114,000)
Since many creative writing jobs are remote, there are no geographical limits to how much you can earn. So, for example, if you live in India, there’s nothing to stop you from taking a freelance writing gig with a company based in the US or UK.
BEWARE OF SCAMS: Red Flags To Look Out For
Like most things online, there’s a degree of risk involved in looking for creative writing work, as some people are out to hoodwink unsuspecting would-be writers.
With time, you’ll get better at spotting scams and be able to avoid them. But when you’re starting out, be aware of these red flags.
Spam or Fake Job Postings
Some people out there might want to take your work without paying you for it. If you’re not sure about an opportunity, look for one or more of the following in a job post:
- Spelling mistakes and typos
- A lack of detail about the work, rates, company, or payment
- Email addresses that don’t match the company name
- Opportunities that seem too good to be true
Now I could be wrong, and it might be legit, but this post on Upwork checks a lot of those boxes. Plus, the payment is unverified, the user created their account the previous day, and it’s only received 10-15 proposals (quality jobs usually get dozens of applicants).
Charging Fees to Work for Them
Let’s be clear: clients should pay you , not the other way around. If a job listing asks you to pay to submit your work or sign up for a subscription fee, run away fast.
The only exception to this rule is reputable membership platforms — like the ones mentioned above — that provide value and help you build your career.
Dirt Cheap Pay Rates
Honestly, this is why I personally don’t use sites like Upwork or Fiverr. It’s hard to find gigs that pay decent rates on these platforms. Just look at this example I found on ProBlogger where the job poster offers $20-$25 per 1,000 word article. That’s only .02 cents per word!
Slow or Late Payment
Reputable platforms state their pay cycles on the website — if you don’t see that info, it’s a red flag.
When dealing with a private client, make sure you agree on payment terms in advance, ideally in writing. A best practice is to request 50% payment upfront and 50% upon delivery.
You Don’t Get a Say in What You Write
One of my first gigs was with a content mill that paid poorly and assigned me topics I knew nothing about and had zero interest in.
Needless to say — I only lasted a month.
So, focus on writing what you know about and have at least a passing interest in if you want to be a successful freelance writer.
You’re Swimming in a Sea of Creative Writing Jobs — Get Fishing
Three years ago, I never imagined I would be one of those people writing about how they became a successful freelance writer — let alone on a platform like Smart Blogger with an audience of millions.
Yet here we are.
Start today, and in a few months from now, you might be writing one, too — even if you don’t have a creative writing degree or relevant work experience.
So what are you waiting for? Cast your net, and get fishing for your first creative writing job.

Take a walk through the most ancient Kremlin in Russia
The Novgorod Kremlin, which is also called ‘Detinets’, is located on the left bank of the Volkhov River. The first fortified settlement was set here during the reign of prince Vladimir Yaroslavich, the son of Yaroslav the Wise. During these times, all the state, public and religious life of Novgorod was concentrated here. It was the place where people kept chronicles and copied the texts of books. The Novgorod Kremlin, the most ancient one in Russia, was founded here in the 15th century.
St. Sophia Cathedral (11th century), The Millennium Of Russia Monument, Episcopal Chamber (15th century) and the main exhibition of The State Novgorod Museum-reservation located in a public office building of the 18th century are all situated in the Novgorod Kremlin. The exhibition will tell you about the whole Novgorod history from ancient times to the present day. There are also restoration workshops, a children’s center, a library and a philharmonic inside the Kremlin walls.
Send a letter with the State Novgorod Museum-reservation stamp
While visiting the main building of the Novgorod Kremlin museum, you’ll see a small bureau near the souvenir area. Two more bureaus like that can be found in the Fine Arts Museum and the Museum information centre. This is the Museum Post, the joint project of the State Novgorod Museum-reservation and Russian Post.
The tradition to exchange letters (at that time written on birch bark sheets) dates back to the 11th century so it’s hardly surprising that such a project appeared here. The bureaus are desks and mailboxes at the same time, so you can send your friends a postcard with a view of Novgorod right from the museum.
Find the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin among the figures of The Millennium Of Russia Monument
In 1862, 1000 years after the Varangians were called to Russia, a monument dedicated to this event was launched in Novgorod. To tell the story of Russia’s one thousand years, the sculptor used 129 bronze figures: from state and military leaders to artists and poets.
One of figures portrays Afanasy Ordin-Nashchokin, a politician and reformer who was responsible for Russia’s diplomatic relations in the middle of the 17th century. He is believed to be the father of international and regular mail in Russia. He was also the person who came up with the idea of the first Russian Post official emblem — a post horn and a double-headed eagle.
Cross the Msta River over the first arch bridge in Russia
The steel bridge in Borovichi town that connects two banks of the Msta river was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The project of the bridge was created by Nikolay Belelyubsky, engineer and professor of St. Petersburg State Transport University. This is the first arch bridge in Russia.
In 1995, it was included in the national cultural heritage register. More than 100 bridges across Russia were developed by Belelyubsky, but only this one is named after him.
Cast a virtual bell
When in the Novgorod region, you’ll definitely hear bells ring and learn about the Novgorod Veche Bell. During the siege of the city, tsar Ivan III ordered to remove this bell from the bell tower and send it to Moscow. Legend says that the bell didn’t accept his fate, fell to the ground near the border of the Novgorod region and broke to pieces against the stones.
In the biggest Museum Bell Centre in Russia located in the Valday town, you can see bells from across the world and learn why Novgorod bells are unique. The museum’s collection represents bells from different countries and ages, some of them dating back to the 3rd century BC. You’ll learn about the history of casting and modern bell-making technologies and also play games on a touch table. For example, harness virtual ‘troika’ (three) horses with bells or cast a virtual bell.
Spot the pigeon on the cross of St. Sophia Cathedral
St. Sophia Cathedral was built in Novrogod between 1045 and 1050 by Kievan and Byzantine masters. It was conceived as the main cathedral of the city, and during its first years it was the only stone building in Novgorod. So where does the pigeon on the cross of the cathedral’s biggest dome come from?
Legend says that while tsar Ivan the Terrible and his Oprichniki were cruelly killing peaceful city folk in 1570, a pigeon suddenly sat down to the cross of the city’s main cathedral. It looked down, saw the massacre, and was literally petrified with horror. Since then the pigeon has been considered the defender of the city. People believe that as soon as the pigeon flies away from the cross, Novgorod will come to an end.
Visit a monastery, that was founded by Patriarch Nikon
The Valday Iver Monastery is situated on the island in the middle of the Valday lake. It is considered to be one of the most important and picturesque orthodox shrines.
The monastery was founded in 1653 by the initiative of Nikon who had just been elected Patriarch. Nikon wanted the monastery to look like the Iviron Monastery on Mount Athos, including the architectural style and monk’s clothes. Legend says that Nikon saw the spot for the monastery in a dream.
Check out Fyodor Dostoevsky’s country house
Fyodor Dostoevsky, a famous Russian writer, first visited Staraya Russa town in 1872 during a summer trip with his family. They liked it so much that the next year they rented a house near the Pererytitsa River’s embankment and spent every summer here ever since.
Dostoevsky loved this house, called it ‘his nest’ and considered it the perfect place to work and to be alone. In Staraya Russa he wrote his novels ‘The Adolescent’, ‘The Brothers Karamazov’ and ‘Demons’. Today, this place is a museum where you can explore what Dostoevsky’s house looked like and see his family’s personal belongings, photos and letters.
Visit an authentic Russian ‘izba’ (wooden house)
If you want to really enjoy the atmosphere of the old Novgorod, you should come to the Vitoslavlitsy Museum of folk wooden architecture that is located on the Myachino lake not far away from Veliky Novgorod. In this open-air museum you’ll see the best examples of Russian wooden architecture, including authentic old ‘izbas’ (wooden houses), rural chapels and churches.
During the year, the museum hosts fairs of crafts and folklore, christmastides, and even an international bell ringing festival.
Learn what Brick Gothic looks like
The Episcopal Chamber of the Novgorod Kremlin is the only non-religious German Gothic building of the 15th century preserved in Russia. You can have a good look at the facets of the gothic cross-domed vaults inside the chamber. This is why this building is also called ‘Faceted Chamber’ or ‘Chamber of Facets’.
The chamber was part of Vladychny Dvor, the place where all important city events took place: court hearings, gatherings of the Council of Lords of the Novgorod Republic, ambassador’s receptions and feasts. The seals of the city’s lords were kept here. The decree of tsar Ivan III on merging the Novgorod Republic with the Moscow State was first announced in 1478 in Episcopal Chamber. This is when the name of the new state, Russia, was first pronounced.
See the murals by Theophanes the Greek
The Byzantine Empire had a huge impact on the development of the Russian culture. Many works of art and architecture in ancient Russia were created by Byzantine artists and masters. Theophanes the Greek was one of them. He was born in Byzantine and created icons and murals in Constantinople and Caffa (modern Feodosia). After that he moved to Novgorod where he was commissioned to paint the walls of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior on Ilyina Street. You can enjoy his unique and expressive style if you look at the murals inside the dome of the church and the Trinity side chapel.
The most recognizable and the only monumental work of Theophanes the Greek that is preserved today is the chest-high portrait of the Savior the Almighty in the dome of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
Take a photo with an ancient Novgorod citizen who is learning how to read and write
In 1951, a letter written on birch bark dating back to the 14–15th centuries was found in Veliky Novgorod. Many decades later, in 2019, a sculpture designed by Novgorod artist and sculptor Sergey Gaev appeared on this exact site.
The sculpture portrays an 8–year old boy sitting on a stool and holding a piece of birch bark. At this age children in Novgorod started to learn how to read and write. During archaeological excavations in Novgorod, scientists often found ancient handwriting practice books and children’s drawings on birch bark sheets.
Feel like an ancient viking or prince Rurik’s guest
Novgorod is one of the waypoints of the famous trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks. The route passed through the Volkhov river. In the 9–10th centuries there was a fortified settlement of the Viking Age here.
Some scientists believe that Novgorod is named after this area which was called ‘Stary Gorod’ (‘Old City’) at that time. Some historians and archeologists consider this place to be the residence of Prince Rurik who was asked to rule the city in 862. That’s why this ancient settlement is called ‘Rurikovo Gorodische’ (‘Ruruk’s Old City’).
Learn more about the Soviet modernist architecture
On the bank of the Volkhov river near the Novgorod Kremlin, there is an incredible building that looks like a spaceship and contrasts strongly with the ancient buildings of the city.
This is the Fyodor Dostoevsky Theater of Dramatic Art that was built in 1987. It is one of the most striking examples of the Soviet modernist architecture. The theater was built for 10 years according to the project of architect Vladimir Somov.
See what an everyday life of Old Believers looks like
The Krestsy town in the Novgorod region has always been considered to be the center of the Novgorod Old Belief community, and it still is. Before the Soviet revolution there were three Old Believers churches here.
The Lyakova village, which is located not far from the town, used to be inhabited completely by Old Believers. You can learn more about their lifestyle in the local interactive museum. You’ll be introduced to Old Believers’ traditional crafts and ceremonies, drink tea with healing herbs and learn how to chop wood and use an old spinning wheel.
Buy a traditional embroidered tablecloth
A unique embroidery style that is now famous all over the world was born in the Staroye Rakhino village in the Novgorod province. By the middle of the 19th century, it had become a folk craft. Since then, linen tablecloths, towels and clothing items decorated with unusual ornaments have been popular not only among the locals, but also travellers.
In 1929, the first cooperative partnership of embroidery masters was created in Kresttsy. Later it turned into a factory that still operates today. The factory has a museum where embroidery traditions are preserved and new ornaments and technologies are created.
Find yourself in the Middle Ages
In the Middle Ages, Staraya Russa town could be called ‘the salt cellar of Russia’. That’s because salt making was the main trade here up to the 19th century. A few years ago, the old craft was brought back to life, and construction of salt works began. Later, an interactive museum was launched based on the results of archaeological findings.
This museum recreates a typical medieval manor of Staraya Russa of the 12th century with living rooms, a bathhouse, workshops, a livestock pen and traditional peasant household items. In this museum, you can also buy salt which is made in the same way as 1000 years ago.
See the place where Suvorov started his Italian campaign
Alexander Suvorov’s manor in the Konchanskoe village, which has now become the museum of the great commander, was originally the place of his exile. Suvovor openly disagreed with the reform of Russian’s army based on the Prussian model, and Emperor Paul the First didn’t appreciate such behaviour. He first fired Suvorov and then sent him away to his family estate.
However, the exile lasted for only two years. The great commander started the military campaign straight from his house in the Konchanskoe. During this legendary expedition, he crossed the Alps and defeated the French army.
Become a real hiker
If you dream of having a hike in the Novgorod region, but at the same time you are afraid that a tourist’s life may be too hard, you should try the Big Valday trail. This is a five-day 59-kilometer walking route. Its central part goes right through the Valday National Park’s territory.
You won’t have to cope with difficulties and inconveniences of camping life here. The route is marked with signs, and there are camping sites where you can find everything you need for an overnight stay from shelters and places for a fire to toilets. The trail finishes at the Dunayevshchina village where you can take a bus back to Valday. To take the trail, you have to fill out a special form and register on the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation website.
Russian Post has launched a limited series of products dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Novgorod region.
In autumn 2020, Russian Post announced an open contest to create the design for its limited series dedicated to Novgorod region. The project was supported by the Government of the Novgorod region, ‘Russ Novgorodskaya’ (Novgorod Russia) project, the State Novgorod Museum-reservation and Yandex.
Stamps and envelopes are traditionally used to spread information about historic dates and figures and famous landmarks. Now we can also use parcel boxes, packaging tape and postcards. The limited series products will travel around the world, introducing the most popular Russian attractions to six million Russian Post clients daily.
The participants were to create the design for the limited series featuring three iconic attractions of the Novgorod region, the Novgorod Kremlin, the Millennium Of Russia Monument and the Belelyubsky Bridge in Borovichi. Moscow designers and graduates of the Higher School of Economics’ Art and Design School Alena Akmatova and Svetlana Ilyushina won the contest. Their project was chosen via an open vote and by the expert jury.

The train is smoke-free. Though, it has a stop in the middle of the route that people use for a cigarette break. Bathrooms are present, of course. Bus - is generally the same. One stop along the way for restrooms, smokes, coffee. The road - well, road surface is quite fine, but it isn't a freeway (runs through villages and towns, has traffic lights etc.), so, the trip takes much longer that is could if the road was up to modern standards (a new good one is under construction, but is a couple years away from entering service).
If it was for me to decide - I'd still pick up a morning train. That's kind of the most civilized and reliable way to do the trip.
Thank you so much for your thoughts. It's very helpful.
Also another, smooth solution is possibile.
The last summer I went from St. Petersburg in Veliky Novgorod by the last evening train, I've been one night in Novgorod and I returned to St Petersburg on the last train of the next evening. So I had a full day for the city; which deserves it.
From Veliky Novgorod station, as the train arrives around midnight, I took a taxi to a real short ride to this hotel, mid-distance between station and Novgorod Kremlin (otherwise, it is very well walkable):
https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g298502-d304364-Reviews-Volkhov_Hotel-Veliky_Novgorod_Novgorod_Oblast_Northwestern_District.html
Both on outward and on return journey, the trains are brand new and comfortable. A recommended experience.
thank you so much. We tend to be very thorough tourists. We would like to see St Sophia, of course and the Kremlin including the museum, and the Museum of Wooden Architecture and Yaroslavl's court and some of those churches and if we can the Pokrovsky monastery, and have time just to walk around and see the town. Could we do all that and make the train at 19:10, or should we stay 2 nights?
Hi! We haven't seen the Museum of Wooden Architecture, but otherwise we did the same your tour, and plus we saw the Spasa-na-iliene church and the Cathedral of the Virgin of the Sign (Znamensky); and the time was largely enough. Then you should do your program in a day since the morning (quite early) up to 19.
Thank you again, that's very helpful.
I want to book train ticket online from St Petersburg to Veliky Novgorod. But I don't know how to choose the station for the suburban train. Anyone can help me? Thank you.
> I want to book train ticket online from St Petersburg to Veliky Novgorod
You can't.
Hi Marassa,
You mean I must buy the ticket on train station? Thank you.
It is considered as local commuter train. So you just buy ticket at train station.
