Assignment Ada , also known as Ada the Spy in some regions, is a short mission that is unlocked after completing the game once. In this game, Ada Wong must infiltrate the Island Base and recover 5 Plaga Samples. The samples must fit into her small Attache Case along with her Punisher, TMP, and Semi-Auto Rifle, so item management is a must. The game must be beaten in one complete run, as there is no saving. In all versions prior to the Wii version, Ada has no Knife, so the difficulty is even greater. She must fire bullets to break crates and barrels to obtain items so, do not worry about killing every single enemy and proceed to the next area as soon as possible.

Storming the Beach [ edit | edit source ]

When infiltrating the beach area, be careful about shooting enemies of edges into the water, or else you may run short on ammo. After all the enemies are dead, collect the items around the area. Climb the ladder at the rear entrance and crawl through the vent duct to get inside the Base.

Inside the Base [ edit | edit source ]

Once inside check your in-game map. The locations of the Plaga Samples are marked with treasure icons on the map. Find them and kill the enemies guarding them. In the Research Lab, collect the Plaga Sample and then defend yourself from the enemies that lock-down the room. To get out, operate the security console to unlock the door.

The Lone Guard [ edit | edit source ]

At the Communications Tower you will have to defeat Krauser to obtain the final Plaga Sample. Use your remaining Hand Grenades and the TMP to defeat him. Once he's taken care of ride the lift to the top of the Tower and call a Chopper to pick up Ada.

Chicago Typewriter [ edit | edit source ]

Completing the mission allows you to purchase the Chicago Typewriter , a Tommy Gun with unlimited ammo, in a completed file of the main game (GameCube) or Separate Ways (all other versions). The gun does come with a high price at 1 million Pesetas to be exact in the main game and 300,000 in Separate Ways.

Resident Evil 4 DLC: Separate Ways, Assignment Ada & more

Ada Wong in RE4 remake

The original Resident Evil 4 featured two adventures called Separate Ways and Assignment Ada where you could play as Ada Wong, but will the Resident Evil 4 remake feature either as DLC?

Ada Wong is back in the Resident Evil 4 remake and her role is largely the same, although her ending is expanded. In the original game, Ada had her own small mission called Assignment Ada that unlocked after the main campaign was completed. This was just a short level in which Ada needed to make it from one side of RE4’s Island fort to another, battling enemies and bosses along the way.

When RE4 was re-released on PS2, Xbox, and PC, a second mission for Ada was added to the game , one that expanded her role and explained what Ada was doing while Leon was saving Ashley. This was called Separate Ways and was considerably longer and more detailed than Assignment Ada. It was also canon and emulated Leon’s campaign in many ways.

The question is, will Assignment Ada and Separate Ways return in the Resident Evil 4 remake as DLC?

Ada Wong inSeparate Ways

Does RE4 Separate Ways have a release date?

While Ada’s campaign wasn’t included in the base game of Resident Evil 4, Separate Ways will be released on September 21, 2023 , on all platforms. So far, there’s been no word on if Separate ways will be a free or paid DLC.

The original Separate Ways wasn’t included in the original Resident Evil 4 when it was first released on the GameCube, as the mission was only added to the game in later versions. Therefore, it makes sense for the mission to be released as DLC.

As in the original RE4, the church tower in the village collapses at a crucial point in the game – seemingly for no reason. Those who played Separate Ways will remember that it was Ada who caused this to aid Leon from afar, and therefore, Ada is still following her Separate Ways story in the RE4 remake, which gave some fans a clue that the mode was coming.

While Separate Ways has been confirmed by Capcom to be Resident Evil 4 DLC. There’s been nothing confirmed about Assignment Ada, however, Separate Ways replaces that mission in many ways, so it makes sense for only that larger content to be included as RE4 DLC.

Chapter 1: Ring the Church Bell [ ]

96356

The story begins with Ada in the village centre; after fighting off a pair of Ganados, Ada is instructed by Wesker to ring the church bell, in turn pacifying the villagers. At that time, she notices Leon having troubles of his own, ambushed by a gang of villagers. Racing to the church, Ada discovers the door locked. The round insignia needed to open it is around the back, protected by a dial puzzle. Although she solves it, something must be placed in the mechanism to keep the gate behind her open. Heading along the shore, Ada encounters one of the Chainsaw Sisters. After defeating her, Ada retrieves the Green Catseye, returns to the church and solves a puzzle to retrieve the Round Insignia, then switches it with the Green Catseye. She uses the Insignia to enter the church, then solves the light puzzle later seen with Leon to ring the church bell, although bringing down the steel bars that prevented Leon from getting to Ashley.

Chapter 2: Rescue Luis Sera [ ]

Rescue luis (re4 danskyl7)

Reading a book about the villagers in the home of Bitores Méndez , Ada gets a call from Wesker to inform her that the researcher they planted, Luis Serra , has been captured by Méndez and is being held in a house on the other side of the village. Until he obtains the control plaga sample for them, he cannot be allowed to die. Ada remarks that Serra is quite high-maintenance and sets out to rescue him.

After fighting her way through the village, including Chainsaw Man , Ada arrives at the house only to find that Leon has also been captured and that the Ganados are moving both prisoners to the valley.

Racing back, Ada arrives at the chief's house just in time to save Leon from a quick death. However, this causes Méndez to chase after her instead. Eventually, Ada is tranquilized and captured.

A few hours later, Ada wakes up just in time to avoid a grisly death at the end of a Ganado's axe during an Illuminados sacrifice. She makes her way up to the lift control room to discover that she needs a key to activate the gondola lift. She goes to the barn where, in a few hours, Leon will face off against Chief Méndez. For now though, there are only a few villagers, including a second Chainsaw Sister who is possession of the key Ada needs to advance. Defeating her opponents, Ada uses the lift and proceeds on.

However, there is one last obstacle in her way: El Gigante . Either by fighting or fleeing, Ada gets past the monster arriving just after the siege on the cabin has ended. Luis informs her that he's on his way to get the sample. He asks her who she works for and she replies that there are things he's better off not knowing. He says he doesn't really care who she is as long as she gets rid of Saddler and Los Iluminados .

Chapter 3: Retrieve the Sample [ ]

546757

The chapter begins with Ada revealing herself to Leon and escaping into the hedge maze. Wesker calls her with important news: Luis has gotten his hands on the sample. Ada is to track him down and get it from him. Additionally, if Ada encounters Leon, she's ordered to take him out. He's a survivor of Raccoon City , Wesker says, they can do without the distraction.

The sudden arrival of the cultists somewhat hampers Ada's efforts to escape the maze, but she makes it with little difficulty. Making her way through the castle, including a fight with a Garrador, Ada stumbles upon Leon and is unable to help him as she'll have to kill him if he sees her.

Eventually she arrives at the meeting point only to witness Saddler kill Luis and take back the sample. Wesker calls, telling her that they might be able to use Leon as a distraction to harass Saddler and his men. Unbeknownst to Wesker, Ada's been doing that all along.

Chapter 4: Stop Leon's Assassination [ ]

Stop leon assasination (re4 danskyl7)

Krauser and Ada meet at the island's radio tower. Afterwards, Ada gets a call from Wesker informing her that he's dispatched Krauser to kill Leon. Ada reminds herself that she doesn't always play by Wesker's rules.

Finding herself in the shipping lane from the waste disposal center, Ada goes on the offensive through hordes of soldiers, even going so far as to sink the warship that Saddler has somehow recommissioned all by herself (she even used a pair of Gatling cannons to destroy the warship's onboard artillery).

Arriving at just the right time of Leon and Krauser's knife battle, Ada shoots Krauser's knife out of his hand as he is about to stab Leon in the heart and he is forced to flee.

Chapter 5: Obtain the Sample [ ]

Obtain the sample (re4 danskyl7)

As Mike and Leon decimate the military base, Ada informs Wesker that Krauser has been killed. Impressed, Wesker remarks that Leon doesn't die easily. He plans to use Leon to take care of Saddler. No matter who wins, the victor won't emerge unscathed and he instructs Ada to finish off whoever is left. Neither Leon nor Saddler can live to see tomorrow.

Clearing out what remains of the mercenary defenses, Ada meets up with Leon just in time to witness his Plaga try to assert itself. Going on ahead to let him compose himself, she defeats the meager resistance in the cell block. But as she's about to advance, she is nearly killed by a girder.

Krauser, badly burned and injured, had survived both Leon's assault and the explosions that destroyed the ruins and he intends to pay Ada back for her earlier humiliation. However, Ada has carefully studied his fighting style and, despite his arm, she is able to overcome her old ally, killing him for good.

Immediately after, Ada arrives in the laboratory to distract Saddler, giving Leon the precious time he needs to rescue Ashley and escape. Unfortunately, she must now fight the deranged cult leader. Through a combination of wits and firepower, she is able to defeat him and finally gets her hands on the control plaga specimen. But she does not see one of Saddler's tentacles and is captured.

A short time later, Leon arrives on top of the structure where Saddler and Ada are waiting, Ada tied and hanging from a rope. Leon cuts her down and begins to fight the mutated Saddler. Ada, seeing a rocket launcher on another structure, goes on an all-out offensive, racing against both a swarm of Ganados and the timer of a great number of bombs. But she overcomes every obstacle, retrieving the launcher and, in a parallel of the same event six years earlier, tosses it to Leon at the last moment.

Holding Leon at gunpoint, she finally retrieves the plaga sample. Tossing Leon the key to a jet-ski, she takes off in her helicopter just before the island is destroyed.

Gameplay [ ]

The player controls Ada Wong for the game. Compared to Leon, the only gameplay differences will be Ada has a slightly faster movement speed, uses different melee attacks and can use the hookshot to reach areas that were impossible for Leon. The player begins the game with the default size attache case and 5 bars of health. Ada starts with the following items:

  • Shotgun (Ada's)
  • Handgun Ammo (30)
  • Shotgun Shells (15)
  • First Aid Spray

The game is spread out over five chapters (two for the village, one for the castle, two for the island), it is considerably longer and more complex than Assignment: Ada with save points and the Weapon Merchant available to the player. However, the weapon upgrade option of the Merchant is disabled in this mode.

Completing the game and saving leaves the file at a "New Round" state and the player can restart from the beginning with all their equipment and money carried over. The Chicago Typewriter can be made available for the mode by completing Assignment: Ada .

Rewards [ ]

With every completed chapter of Separate Ways , the player can view a new part of Ada's Report . The option is added to the "Extras" section in the main menu after unlocking the first report. The reports detail certain plot events and shine a light upon Ada's true motives.

Successfully completing Separate Ways will unlock the Chicago Typewriter for the main game. Additionally, the costume set "Special 2" can be selected when starting a new game in the main game. This consists of a mafia costume for Leon and a suit of armor for Ashley.

  • The title screen of the mode pays homage to La Femme Nikita .
  • Whilst fighting Ganados in the beginning of the game, you might see Leon in the distance running from a group of Ganados as well as several sound effects of him and Chainsaw Man. However, it is impossible to confront Leon in-game. The same thing occurs in the castle, in the room with the rocket launcher in a glass case, and finally in Leon's final battle with Saddler.
  • When visiting The Merchant for the first time, he claims to not be open at the time, which explains why he does not put up his blue torches. However, he can never deny a good stranger some weapons and will happily buy and sell with you.
  • In the village, Ada sees the Ganado that had stolen Leon's jacket.

Ending Explained

This page contains expanded information on the story and ending for Resident Evil 4 Remake. From expanded backstories, to missing content, there are many important changes, and below you will find some of the biggest plot points.

The Mid Credits Ending

Albert Wesker is usually the mastermind behind the scenes, and the tradition continues in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Originally making an appearance in both Separate Ways, and Assignment Ada, Wesker’s involvement was clear, with him tasking Ada Wong to retrieve the ever so precious plaga sample - so he could resurrect Umbrella.

The remake slightly changes this, with Wesker spelling out his bonkers plans for world domination, and that once he obtains the sample, there’ll be billions of casualties. Ada, not wanting that on her conscience, decides to command the escape helicopter for herself, as well as the sample, flying off into the sunset.

If it wasn’t clear enough what Wesker might be referring to, he is, of course, bringing up his plans for complete global saturation, a lovely nod to Resident Evil 5. Eagle eyed players can also spot pictures of both Excella Gionne (Wesker’s evil confidant in RE5) and the Stairway of the Sun, the west-African virus progenitor laden plant from RE5, in the reflection of his sunglasses.

The Village

Everyone’s favorite Resident Evil religious cult, the Los Illuminados, are back and even deadlier than before.

With a killer reintroduction, showing a struggling woman who is about to be executed, filled with ominous chanting and a particularly rusty ax. But who is this stranger? Well, she’s referenced only moments after by the soon to be departed Spanish cop duo “I mean, last week there was a search for some missing hikers.”. And much later on, you’ll be able to visit the scene of the crime, coming across the other missing hiker.

Despite being a dangerous bunch back in the original, the Los Iluminados of the remake are clearly a bigger threat, upping the ante towards the locals and any unsuspecting passerbyers.

We also get more insight on the development of the Village thanks to the Village Chief's logs. Originally the place seemed to steer clear of the outside world, which explains how the place feels like its from the early 1900s when RE4 takes place in the early 2000s.

From what’s available to read, it appears the village itself was prospering under its new chief! Mendez would homeschool the local children, all while dining with the village families to trade gossip and grievances, and had even opened the village up to the outside world - what a lovely guy, surely nothing could go wrong!

On top of that, we learn that Luis Sera Navarro, as a child, was living with his sick grandfather by a cabin near a lake - the very same one Leon eventually rescues Luis from later on. After Mendez meets with the Navarro’s, Luis’ grandfather tells the chief “If anything happens, you know what to do”. Shortly afterwards, the old man passes away, Luis runs away, and the Los Illuminados return to the village and begin administering the local population with the plaga, with Mendez unsure whether or not he can trust them.

Los Iluminados

While the exact origins of the plagas aren’t fully explained in the original Resident Evil 4, the remake does contain some key differences, and goes further into detail - expanding upon the relationship between Osmund Saddler and Ramon Salazar.

According to the 2005 original’s Butler’s Memo, Ramon Salazar had no family, and Lord Saddler was able to influence Ramon into undoing the seal of the Las Plagas once made by his own ancestors. In the remake however, when reading the Housekeeper’s Memo 1, we find out that the previous Salazar and castellan of the castle, Lord Diego, was actively fighting against the Saddlers, in order to keep the plagas away from their family reach - giving both the Salazar’s and Saddler’s of yesteryear, a storied history together that was unseen in the original.

You can find epitahs, monuments, and tombs to the Saddler lineage all over the Island, dating all the way back to the very first one: Adam Saddler, dated MDLIV (1554!) stating that he had discovered the Plaga beneath the castle. However, it seems they were thwarted by the Salazar lineage, who were awarded the title of the Castellan for the castle when they expelled the Iluminados led by Hester Saddler, and exiled them back to the island in MDCCXLI (1741). Judging by the statue of Osmund by the altar with the numerals XV, it seems that he is the 15th in the Saddler bloodline - which means they've been waiting a long time for their revenge!

Saddler is also shown to have greater power over the mind-controlling abilities of the plagas once a host is infected. Before you reach the castle’s maze, Saddler takes control over a weakened Ashley, tricking her into attacking Leon with his own knife, and causing the two to separate right. But the remake doesn’t just stop there, and actually goes one step further - highlighting just how strong Saddler’s mind-altering abilities really are, with him being powerful enough to directly influence Leon’s mind, causing him to hallucinate.

Leon, Krauser, and the US Government

Originally, Leon’s explanation as to how he became a secret agent was a little vague. Explaining that he received “special training” via a “secret organization”, working under the direct control of the President. Remake Leon however, makes it clear that he was forced to join the government against his own will - having to undergo the same special training, but with punishing missions, pushing him to the brink of death - all while being trained under Major Krauser.

Those punishing missions? A reference to Operation Javier, from 2009’s Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, released four years after Resident Evil 4, meaning the original release of RE4 missed some pretty crucial backstory regarding Leon and Krauser.

While he might look like the same coldhearted, knife-wielding soldier that we all loved to hate back in 2005, Major Jack Krauser enters the remake with a significantly expanded story that not only changes his motivations, but also his relationship with Leon.

Despite Leon and Krauser clearly sharing some history together, there wasn’t much to bite your teeth into until Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, which shows Krauser and Leon teaming up to take down a South American drug cartel who's been working with Umbrella. Over the course of the campaign, you’d come to learn about Krausers mistrust of Leon, and his desire, above all else, to gain power through the use of bio-organic weapons.

While none of this, naturally, could’ve been mentioned in the original Resident Evil 4, it plays an important role in setting up Krauser’s motivations in the remake, and his hatred for the US government.

Thanks to a Redacted Case File in the remake, we come to find out that Operation Javier didn’t go according to plan. With Krauser leading an entire team of elite soldiers into South America, only for Krauser to be the only returning survivor - his team killed by the very same people who organized the mission in the first place, and then covered up.

Once you eventually defeat the crazed soldier, Krauser expresses pride in Leon’s combat abilities, with his final words acknowledging Leon by name, instead of "Rookie".

Luis, the self-confessed ladies man of Resident Evil 4, not only has a more detailed backstory in the remake, but also a lot more screen time as well - instead of annoyingly walking away during the most inconvenient times, or, like a dummy, saying he’s dropped plot important items when we could really do with having them.

Although describing himself as just “A researcher hired by Saddler”, you actually come to find out that his credentials go a lot deeper than that. Formerly working for Umbrella, Luis was part of their European division. Heading up research on how to further develop the plagas into an effective bio-organic weapon. Luis’ guilt for his actions are made clear each time Leon asks why he’s helping, but his actions eventually catch up with him, when Krauser, not Saddler like in the original, puts Luis out of commission.

10 Pieces Of Starfield Cut Content That Should Be Reintroduced To The Game

There's one great way to make ff7 rebirth feel more like the original game, 10 hardest bosses in elden ring: shadow of the erdtree, ranked by difficulty.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 has been released to an overall positive reception, and the game has also set itself up well for future DLC. As a modernized take on one of the Resident Evil franchise's most beloved classic entries, the Resident Evil 4 remake follows many of the same beats as the original game with a few surprising additions, following in the same vein as previous remakes for Resident Evil 2 and 3 .While Resident Evil 4 's remake is mostly faithful to the original, there are a few notable missing aspects from the 2005 classic. Some set pieces, sections, or boss fights have been shifted around or outright removed in the remake, although usually replaced by new or updated content, and as a whole, the game takes on a somewhat more serious tone (although it still retains much of the original's cheesy dialogue). Perhaps more notably, however, the remake's launch was missing some of the original's extra modes, like Resident Evil 4 's popular The Mercenaries mode, although this is coming to the game as free DLC shortly. Related: Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries DLC - Release Date, Platforms, & Price

Resident Evil 4 Remake DLC Is (Probably) On The Way

Resident Evil 4 Remake's Leon holds a shotgun while he protects Ashley, which is back-to-back with him.

Luckily, however, Resident Evil 4 's remake has positioned itself well for story-related DLC campaigns, in addition to the already-announced free Mercenaries DLC; with Separate Ways DLC being all but confirmed by data-mined files, as reported by Twitter user, @ResiEvilCentral . Other possible DLCs include Operation Javier , a story involving Leon and Krauser originally set in 2009's Wii spinoff Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles , and Assignment: Ada , a short mode taking place on the island section of Resident Evil 4 's main story. Of the three possible additions, however, Separate Ways has the most evidence supporting its eventual addition to the game.

Separate Ways Could Be A Second Story Campaign For RE4 Remake

The title screen for Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways bonus mode, featuring Ada Wong sitting against a wall and holding up a pistol.

Featuring Ada Wong as a playable character, the original Separate Ways is a bonus campaign following a storyline that proceeds parallel to the main story, filling in several gaps and showing Ada's role in assisting Leon at several points in the game. With files for Another Order (the original name for the campaign for Japanese releases) having been data mined from the Resident Evil 4 remake, it seems likely that the campaign is currently being developed as DLC, to be released at a later date. In a similar vein to Resident Evil Village 's Shadows of Rose DLC, Separate Ways is likely to offer significantly modified gameplay from the main story.

While the Separate Ways campaign still falls within the basic framework of the original Resident Evil 4 's gameplay, it presents some key changes. Compared to Leon in the main story, Ada is slightly faster, has different melee attacks, and a hookshot giving her access to a few different areas. However, reflecting the more contained nature of the campaign, its weapon selection is much more condensed, with the only available guns being a Blacktail pistol and a shotgun. Moreover, although the merchant is present in Separate Ways , the original bonus campaign opts to leave weapon upgrading out, meaning that Ada's arsenal stays at the same strength throughout.

With only five chapters, a limited selection of weapons, and the absence of the weapon upgrading system, a Separate Ways DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake could do with some significant changes - especially if, unlike the original, it will come at additional cost. As a presumably paid DLC instead of a free bonus mode, Separate Ways would be due for some big expansions to its content, fleshing it out into a true parallel campaign to the Resident Evil 4 remake's main story. It remains to be seen what an updated Separate Ways could entail, but longer/more missions, additional weapons, and weapon upgrades could be a good start.

Operation Javier and Assignment: Ada DLCs Aren't Likely To Release

Krauser stabbing his knife down at Leon, who is holding it off, in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Compared to Separate Ways , however, DLC associated with Operation Javier or Assignment: Ada remains somewhat less likely. With no data mined files to support their eventual release, any evidence supporting them would have to come from the RE4 's remake itself. While vague allusions to Operation Javier have been integrated into the story of the remake, they seem mostly to exist to provide more backstory for Krauser, giving him character motivation he lacked in the original game, and strengthening his connection to Leon. While it can't be written off entirely, much of Operation Javier' s presence in the main game seems to serve as a way to better integrate Krauser as a third-act villain.

Moreover, the game that Operation Javier originates from, Darkside Chronicles, might present some challenges of its own in creating a potential Operation Javier DLC. Notably, Darkside Chronicles is a co-op rail shooter for the Wii, meaning that very little of its gameplay would be directly translatable to the gameplay of Resident Evil 4 Remake . With Leon and Krauser's relationship being both more fleshed-out and also somewhat changed in the remake, there isn't much need to further expand on it with an Operation Javier DLC - although it could, in theory, operate similarly to the remake's sections where Leon partners with Luis.

Finally, with the very likely release of Separate Ways , an Assignment: Ada DLC may just be redundant, being as it is both non-canon and even smaller in scope than the original RE4 's other bonus modes. If anything, it's more likely that any of Assignment: Ada' s more compelling ideas will simply be folded into a Separate Ways DLC, with the mode's hunt for plagas samples being a potential carryover. As a short bonus mode, offering the first instance of a playable Ada before Separate Way 's inclusion in later releases, Assignment: Ada is unlikely to be re-released as DLC for Resident Evil 4 's remake - especially with Separate Ways all but confirmed.

With some DLC for Resident Evil 4 's remake already confirmed, and potentially more on the way, there's plenty of room for the game to expand its content, perhaps even elaborating on its final boss and ending . With The Mercenaries already announced for April 7, one of the original game's most popular bonus modes is already guaranteed to be returning. And, although it has yet to be announced or confirmed by Capcom, data mines make a Separate Ways DLC for Resident Evil 4 's remake almost certain.

  18. How do I solve (Assignment Ada)?

There is only one mission for Assignment Ada. "Assignment Ada" on the Gamecube version is only one mission. It ends when you kill Krauser. 22. Separate Ways Reward? How about 'Assignment Ada'?

Separate Ways was not included in the original GC release of RE4; Assignment Ada, however, was. Thus, it stands to reason that Capcom decided to flesh out the idea of an Ada-focused side campaign after seeing the reception of Assignment Ada, hence why Separate Ways was made and included in all other versions of RE4.
