Shankar (Ravi Teja) is a sincere and cranky cop. Raised as an orphan, Shankar is a married man with a kid. Katari (Samuthirakani) is a mobster in Ongole. He is assisted by his second wife Jayamma (Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar). A constable (Sudhakar Komakula) is murdered and Katari is the suspect. Rest of the story is all about how Shankar gathers evidence and hunts Katari.
Story of the film has nothing new to offer. Screenplay is interesting. You can see one flashback in another flashback several times. Screenplay of three objects (nail, fruit and note) worked well. Director Gopichand Malineni definitely knows the pulse of masses and made sure that the scenes between the hero and the villain are electrifying. He has also shown Ravi Teja in a new way though the characterization is an old one. The director has also made sure that there are many mass elements (especially fights) in the film. Songs scored by SS Thaman are okay. Bhoom Baddal song is good on the screen. However, Background music entertains the masses a lot. Cinematography by GK Vishnu is alright. Dialogues written by Sai Madhav Burra are very good. Editing by Naveen Nooli is good. Fights by Ram Lakshman deserve a special mention. All fights are composed in such a way that masses would love it. Production design is decent. Production values are good.
Ravi Teja has done cop roles in a few films and it's a serious character. Doing a mass film with such a character is a risky proposition. But, the director Gopichand made sure that you see highly energetic Ravi Teja. Ravi Teja's character clicks even if it doesn't have Ravi Teja’s trademark satirical dialogues. Plus points of the film are Ravi Teja, screenplay, confrontational scenes between the hero and the villain, background music and action sequences. On the flipside, the mass orientation in the film is routine. But it looks good because we are watching a mass film on a big screen after a huge gap. On a whole, Krack is a paisa vasool entertainer for the masses.

Plus Points:
Minus Points:
Performance: As usual Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is excellent in his role. Once again Ravi Teja has given fantastic performance. His body language and facial expressions are appreciable in the role of Pothuraju Veera Shankar. Samuthirakani steals the show after Ravi Teja. Samuthirakani deliveres top notch performance. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the role of brutal woman looks good. Shruthi Haasan’s talent is utilized well in this film. Others performed accordingly.
Technical: Gopichand Malineni has written a story that is predictable. The Cinematography of the film by GK Vishnu is alright. The songs are good. Thaman sets the mood up for the film Krack with his background music . Editing is fine. The climax fight is shot well and the action episodes are top notch. Art department did a fine job. Production values are lavish. Sai Madhav Burra’s dialogues are good.
Analysis: Krack is a perfect watch. It is good to see a brutal woman on screen in Jayamma played by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as it’s rare to find a villain like her in Tollywood. Plus points of the film Krack are Ravi Teja’ characterization, energy levels and the action episode. On the flipside, story is predictable.

Movie: Krack Rating: 2.75/5 Banner: Saraswathi Films Division Cast: Ravi Teja, Shruti Haasan, Samuthirakani, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, Sudhakar Komakula, Vamsee Chaganti, and others Music: Thaman S Cinematography: GK Vishnu Editor: Naveen Nooli Art: AS Prakash Producers: B Madhu Written and Direction: Gopichand Malineni Release Date: Jan 09, 2020
Ravi Teja’s “Krack” is the first release of 2021 in the theaters. Despite Ravi Teja’s recent poor track record at the box-office, the film has generated buzz thanks to its slick promos and aggressive promotions.
Let’s find out whether the film has managed to impress or not.
Story: Shankar (Ravi Teja) is an upright police officer. He leads a happy life with his wife Kalyani (Shruti Haasan) and a kid. Shankar gets irritated when someone boasts about their ‘background’ and beats them to a pulp.
When one of his colleagues gets brutally murdered in Ongole, Shankar’s investigation leads to the local gang leader Kathari Krishna (Samuthirakani) and his lover Jayamma (Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar).
The main story is the faceoff between Kathari Krishna and Shankar.
Artistes’ Performances: Ravi Teja is in his element here. Playing the role of a cranky cop, who is upright in his profession, comes easy for him having played such roles before. After a long time, Ravi Teja has also shown his trademark ‘energy’ in ferocious sequences.
Shruti Haasan doesn’t have much to do in this film but plays her part well. As for the villains, both Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Samuthirakani steal the show with their fierce acting skills. But it is Samuthirakani who gets the meatier role and length.
Sudhakar Komakula and Vamsee Chaganti as police officers make their presence felt.
Technical Excellence: At a time when packaging with gloss has become the main focus, the director has extracted the best output from cameraman GK Vishnu. He has given a rich look to the masala sequences.
Two fight scenes in the backdrop of Ongole are filmed stylishly.
Burra Sai Madhav has penned dialogues in a style that is required for a mass movie. Thaman’s music is a mixed bag.
Highlights: Ravi Teja’s acting style Samuthirakani Vs Ravi Teja’s scenes Cinematography
Drawback: Predictable storyline First half Excessive violence Dull romantic thread
Analysis Director Gopichand Malineni, who is known for mass-oriented entertainers, has written a story that is quite predictable. However, he has given more importance to the narration.
The basic storyline revolves around a police officer trying to pin down a local leader, which was seen in umpteen number of films. But to repackage it in a glossy manner, the director has told the story with three elements – a mango, a rupee note, and a metal nail.
Each of these elements has changed the lives of three villains when they meet the protagonist. How? This builds interest.
Thus the story unfolds with a terrorist narrating his story and how he had been put in jail by Shankar (Ravi Teja) with a petty mistake (Rs 50 note).
Later, another small rowdy lands in trouble, and he seeks the help of Kathari Krishna (Samuthirakani) when then narrates his fracas with the police officer and how a small nail brought his empire down. If not for this packaging, the story would have been a plain and formulaic fight between villain and hero.
Gopichand’s screenplay and packaging have added some interest to this otherwise regular story with this element. While he has succeeded in piquing our interest with this, he doesn’t come out with the banal sequences.
The middle-portion makes us engaged in the proceedings with some stunningly shot fight sequences like the bus-stand fight, and beach action sequences. But the film again slips into routine mode after a while. Plus, there are too many fights.
Shruti Haasan and Ravi Teja’s romantic thread is also lousy.
Gopichand has aimed to entertain B and C center audiences, and his packaging is mostly revolved around action stunts, high-pitched dialogues, and stylish taking, rather than logic and novelty.
The Ongole backdrop and the ‘Kathari Krishna’ sequences might have added novelty, but the villain turns wimp within few minutes, thus diluting all the build-up. The twist to Shruti’s character also looks forced.
It is an outright masala entertainer, and the writer-director Gopichand Malineni sticks to this template. ‘Krack’ has a good dose of the Ravi Teja’s swag, but with ample routineness. It is a regular masala movie.
Bottom-line: Mass Biryani

Ravi Teja, Gopichand Malineni and Shruti Haasan have been going through lean phases as they don’t have a proper hit for a long. Moreover, Krack faced financial issues and first three shows were cancelled across all the places. Finally, the film released with second show. Will the film provide much needed break for the trio?
Pothuraju Veera Shankar (Ravi Teja) who’s happily married to Kalyani (Shruti Haasan) is a honest police officer who hates recommendations. He comes across three criminals- a most wanted terrorist Yasin Bhatkal (Chirag Jani), Katari Krishna (Samuthirakani) and Reddy (P Ravi Shankar). How he teaches every one of them and their close aide forms crux of the story.
Director Gopichand Malineni didn’t come up with a novel story. In fact, the story has shades of Tamil hit Sethupathi. He’s largely inspired by Naa Peru Surya and Khaki films for action episodes for Vetapalem dacoit batch. Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan’s track is outdated and lacks the magic. There are loopholes in the script as well. However, Gopichand Malineni could bring freshness with his mass-appealing writing and taking. The story is easily predictable, still masses will enjoy most of the scenes. Sai Madhav Burra who is known for writing sensible and thought-provoking dialogues has penned powerful dialogues for Krack. Cinematography by GK Vishnu is one of the major assets. Particularly his work for action episodes is impeccable. S Thaman is the other hero of the film. He gave life to the visuals with his stimulating background score. Moreover, he scored few foot-tapping tracks, but the melodious tune Kora Meesam is pleasant to ears. Editor Naveen Nooli’s sharp cutting makes action sequences a visual feast, though he should have chopped few mind-numbing scenes. Fights by Ram-Lakshman masters deserve a special mention. Production values of Saraswathi Films Division are top-notch.
Onto artists, Ravi Teja steals the show with his energetic performance. His grace, dialogue delivery, fights and dances are a treat to watch for fans. This is one of the best cop roles played by Ravi Teja. Shruti Haasan looked glamorous and when we think it’s another routine role with no scope for performance, she is too good in an action block. Samuthirakani who played the main antagonist is okay. Although there’s enough elevation is given to the character, it becomes weak, after the entry of Ravi Teja and Vetapalem batch. The powerful villain becomes like a street rowdy, after a point. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as Samuthirakani’s lover is good. P Ravi Shankar who is initially shown as a ruthless criminal becomes a comedy villain in last episodes. Chirag Jani is cool as a terrorist. Sudhakar and Vamsi didn’t get much scope. Vetapalem batch is just brilliant. Anketa Maharana sizzles in a special song and her dances are simply amazing. She will now become prime choice for the item songs. Other artists played their parts.

Loopholes In Script
It’s been long since Tollywood witnessed a pucca commercial entertainer and here comes Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja with his high voltage action entertainer Krack. Apparently, director Gopichand Malineni stated the film is based on true incidents as not to face the criticism of coming up with a regular content. Though he might have inspired by real characters, he in the quest of making it a commercial potboiler didn’t try anything unique. Fortunately, he’s backed by wonderful technical support.
The film begins on an interesting note with Venkatesh’s voiceover explaining how a mango, a Rs 50 note and a metal nail on a road changed lives of three notorious criminals. Chirag Jani is a most wanted terrorist who’s caught by Ravi Teja unknowingly and it’s Rs 50 that changes his fate. Ravi Shankar’s introduction of frightening a doctor is pretty routine stuff. He throws his dogs on a girl who comes to pluck a mango in his farm, leading to his meeting with another criminal Samuthirakani in a central jail. The narrative turns bit interesting with flashback episodes. Samuthirakani’s younger days are shown with a song. Vetapalem batch’s attack on Sudhakar is inspired by old films, but it’s engaging due to wonderful camera work and BGM altogether. The investigation process missed the interesting factor. Interval episode of Ravi Teja giving strong warning to Samuthirakani after arresting him promises a promising second half.
Second half is all about the clash between Ravi Teja and Samuthirakani for upper hand over one on the other. Ravi Teja mistakenly killing an innocent and twist behind it are lifted from Sethupathi. Then, like every commercial film, Ravi Teja in his return as police officer eradicates all the criminals in the town. Shruti Haasan’s fight is good, but the back story doesn’t make much impact. Then, finally he goes to Vetapalem to take on the batch. This is another massive fight sequence. As the story progresses Samuthirakani becomes weak and he’s made a comedy villain in the end. Ravi Shankar’s realization and Chirag Jani’s challenge gives perfect end to the film.
On the whole, Krack is a regular commercial entertainer with excellent performances and wonderful support from all the technicians. After Ravi Teja, cinematographer GK Vishnu and music director S Thaman are the major assets of the film. Both the technicians complemented each other with their work. The film may not excite those who wish to watch content rich films. But, it will amaze mass movie lovers and Ravi Teja fans. CJ rates this film 2.75 and the film’s fate depends on response for next Sankranthi arrivals.
