Use their first name (e.g. "Dear Marshall" or "Dear Sara"), if you've previously been in touch with the hiring manager and are on a more friendly basis.

If this is the first time you're contacting the recruiters, start your radiologic technologist cover letter with:

  • their last name (e.g. "Dear Ms. Ali" or "Dear Mr. Stevens") - look up who's the hiring manager for the role on social media or the company website;
  • generalized greeting (e.g. "Dear HR Team") - just don't use "To whom it may concern" or "Dear Sir/Madam".

List of salutations you can use

The radiologic technologist cover letter introduction: focusing on your unique value, with a creative twist

You are not the only one wondering how to start your radiologic technologist cover letter. Those first two sentences introduce your profile and should be memorable.

No pressure.

When beginning your radiologic technologist cover letter , immediately point out the unique value of working with you. In other words, what you promise to bring to the role by using your past track record of success.

Start your radiologic technologist cover letter with a creative twist by telling a joke or stating something relatable. Select this type of introduction only if it aligns with the company culture.

What to write in the middle or body of your radiologic technologist cover letter

Here's where it gets tricky.

Your radiologic technologist cover letter body should present you in the best light possible and, at the same time, differ from your resume.

Don't be stuck in making up new things or copy-pasting from your resume. Instead, select just one achievement from your experience.

Use it to succinctly tell a story of the job-crucial skills and knowledge this taught you.

Your radiologic technologist cover letter is the magic card you need to further show how any organization or team would benefit from working with you.

Ending your radiologic technologist cover letter: a closing paragraph with a promise

If you're thinking of finishing your radiologic technologist cover letter with a "Sincerely yours" or "Thanks for the consideration," you need to read on.

End the final paragraph of your radiologic technologist cover letter with a twist:

  • a promise - of how you'd grow as a professional, part of the company, or improve organizational metrics;
  • a call to action - prompt interviewers with some follow-up actions if they are interested in your profile.

A personalized ending would surely help you to stand out by being a memorable candidate.

Keep this in mind when writing your zero experience radiologic technologist cover letter

Even though you may not have any professional experience , your radiologic technologist cover letter should focus on your value.

As a candidate for the particular role, what sort of skills do you bring about? Perhaps you're an apt leader and communicator, or have the ability to analyze situations from different perspectives.

Select one key achievement from your life, outside work, and narrate a story that sells your abilities in the best light.

If you really can't think of any relevant success, you could also paint the picture of how you see your professional future developing in the next five years, as part of the company.

Key takeaways

Writing your radiologic technologist cover letter has never been easier, so remember to:

  • Select a radiologic technologist cover letter template that automatically meets industry formatting (e.g. has one-inch margins, is single-spaced, is in PDF, etc.);
  • Make your radiologic technologist cover letter personal by mentioning the recruiters' first or last name;
  • Within the introduction, describe what you like best about the company in no more than two sentences;
  • Use your radiologic technologist cover letter body to tell a story of your greatest achievement, backed up by job-relevant skills and technologies;
  • If you have no professional experience, be honest about it in your radiologic technologist cover letter, but also write about your unique talents.

How to create a good cover letter for a radiologic technologist: free tips and tricks

If this is the first time you get to draft a cover letter, don’t fret and keep it simple and effective. In contrast to the resume with lists of skills and job experiences, it is to convey your interest in the position and to align your qualifications to the job description. Every detail matters. So read through the tips and tricks and consult the radiologic technologist cover letter example below for a better understanding of how to you should format it.

Be specific. A generic approach to the writing doesn’t work anymore. You should learn about the company’s projects you got inspired with and find names of key people in the company. At the very least, you should find the recruiter’s name.

Don’t get creative with the layout and formatting. No matter what’s the position you’re aiming for, wild colors, unreadable fonts, emoticons and other weird stuff are not appreciated.

Mention only relevant information. It is a rule of thumb for any job application writing. Trying to keep your letter short, relate only to the skills and experiences relevant for this position. Participating in UN missions and vaccination of underprivileged children is irrelevant for a radiology-related job.

Don’t lie and don’t hide information. Usually the job description has all the details as to what the employer wants to know about you. Cover them all in your document. They may include your degree, work schedule and even salary expectations. Increase your chances by including all needed info.

Remember about keywords. You need to include them so that applicant-tracking software would not reject your letter. Thus, when you apply to a radiologic technologist, you may work to work in keywords such as diagnostic, x-ray, resonance, and operate.

Don’t waste the email subject line. Nowadays most job applying letters are sent via email. Don’t leave the subject line blank. Don’t fill in your surname or other unimaginative options. Use it to capture the recruiter’s attention. For example, “Experienced Radiologic Technologist Found for St Barbara College.”
