I have the Season Pass. How do I download The Evil Within DLC on my Xbox 360?

When DLC is released, Season Pass holders playing on Xbox 360 will receive a notification when they start The Evil Within informing them that new content is available.

Select it and an Xbox Live message will appear confirming that the released DLC is available for “free.” Confirm to initiate the download.

“Downloadable Content” will appear as an option on the Title Menu .

From here, you will be able to select and play the DLC.

The Evil Within: The Assignment DLC release date

We don't Kidman.

The Evil Within will be expanded with The Assignment, the first of two DLC episodes, from 10th March in the UK.

That date applies to the DLC's release on PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 3 and PS4 in North America.

In the UK, PS3 and PS4 versions arrive on 11th March instead.

The Assignment stars detective Juli Kidman in a concurrent story that wraps up questions from the main game, including those surrounding the mysterious Mobius group.

It all sounds a little like the interwoven Ada campaign for Resident Evil 4 , another title from survival horror master Shinji Mikami.

A second slice of Evil Within DLC, The Consequence, will bring the new storyline to a conclusion "later this spring", before a third DLC, The Executioner, where you get to play bad guy The Keeper.

All add-ons are available as part of a £14.99 season pass, or can be bought for £6.99 separately.

Chapter 1: An Oath

The Chapter opens up with Marcelo Jimenez's notes from one of his trials. He details the following:

They existed together, but each saw things in their own ways. It was as if each patient's consciousness filled in the blanks, creating their own reality.

Kidman is assigned to take on the mission of retrieving Leslie from the STEM. She enters the machine, and while in the forest she is attacked by Oscar Connelly and falls off a cliff. She then hears Mobius talking to her, and later attempts to use a keypad. The keypad does not recognize her, forcing her to find the computers to get access, dodging Haunted , Cadaver and the Shade on the way.

Ruvik appears later and traps Kidman. She is saved by Sebastian and Joseph, only for her and Joseph to fall through the ground, as in the main game. 

Chapter 2: Crossing Paths

The Shade attacks Kidman while she is trapped by fallen rubble. Joseph then turns into a Haunted and attacks Kidman. After she defeats him, the world changes and Kidman is brought back to a familiar location from her past. After getting past some Haunted and Cadavers, she finally finds Leslie and takes him to the church.

Ruvik appears and attacks Kidman by controlling Leslie. She points her gun at Leslie and both Leslie and Ruvik disappear. The Administrator then asks her what she is doing and tells her they need Leslie alive. Kidman responds that this is not possible and that they don't know what Ruvik is capable of. The Administrator chases her, forcing her to run. Once Kidman has escaped, the game ends.

Gameplay [ ]

The Assignment 's gameplay differs heavily from The Evil Within , as Juli cannot use any firearms throughout the DLC. The only tools at Juli's disposal are the Flashlight , Bottles , and on occasion, Axes . It is impossible to directly engage any enemies, so stealth is crucial to survival and the system has been updated to accommodate for the fact that Juli is unable to engage in open combat with the enemies for most of the DLC. Kidman can take cover and peek around corners, lure enemies by calling out from cover, throw bottles from cover, and open doors while crouching.

The Assignment also introduces a new gameplay mode called KURIYAMI, which disables all light in the DLC besides the flashlight. Enemy placements are still the same as they are on Survivor Difficulty

14-Year-Old PS3 Game Discovered at Walmart

While the success of Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within may be up for debate ( read our review ), it’s hard to deny the survival horror game’s ravenous fan base. Many flocked to The Evil Within in the hopes of seeing a new renaissance of the genre , while others simply followed Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami for the ride; but regardless of why they got on-board The Evil Within train, gamers are still chomping at the bit for more.

As if on cue, Tango Gameworks has swooped in to reveal the teaser trailer 'The Assignment', the first major piece of story DLC for The Evil Within . As evidenced by the trailer above but not really, The Assignment will focus on the character of Juli Kidman, the rookie recruit and new partner of Sebastian Castellanos .

Although the teaser trailer doesn’t show much, it does create an eerie atmosphere and a razor sharp tension. It sounds as if whatever is lurking on the other side of the closed doors is saying, “Must sleep,” but it’s a little hard to make out. Whatever the creature may be, we’re sure that players will want to think twice about heading out into the open.

The most important element of the trailer, though, is the revelation that The Assignment will hit some time in March. It’s been a few months since The Evil Within hit store shelves , but finally players will get some new content next month.

Some will remember that The Evil Within ’s post-release DLC plans include a two-part adventure featuring Kidman, which starts with The ASsignment. Essentially, these two DLC pieces will show players what Kidman was doing each time she separated from Sebastian.

Gamers interested in picking up The Assignment can do so as an a la carte offering or with The Evil Within Season Pass for $19.99. As you might have guessed, the Season Pass will include both parts of Kidman’s adventure, but there are currently no details on that second half. For that matter, we’ve only seen about 10 seconds of footage from The Assignment, so it’s hard to predict what types of experiences the DLC will include. However, if Mikami and company can keep the scare factor at the same level as the main campaign of The Evil Within , then we’re sure fans will take the leap.

While many are spending their Monday nights finishing up work or homework assignments, another assignment has just been put on your plate courtesy of Bethesda. That's right, the highly-anticipated The Evil Within: The Assignment DLC is now available to download on Steam .

The DLC is the first of a two-party story where players take on the role of detective Juli Kidman, Sebastian Castellanos’ mysterious partner, in a concurrent story that looks to answer some of the questions surrounding her whereabouts during The Evil Within.

The DLC has not yet been added to Xbox Live or PSN, but we will make sure to update you when they are.
