  • Funny Poems About Dogs: Unleashing Laughter and Canine Comedy

Woof! Woof! Who doesn't love a good laugh? And what better way to brighten your day than with hilarious poems about our furry friends? Dogs, with their playful antics and boundless enthusiasm, provide endless inspiration for lighthearted poetry. In this article, we will explore a collection of funny dog poems that are sure to tickle your funny bone and leave you wagging your tail with laughter.

1. "The Dog's Dilemma" by Ogden Nash

2. "dogs are silly" by kenn nesbitt, 3. "my dog ate my homework" by bruce lansky, 4. "dog's diary vs. cat's diary" by unknown.

Ogden Nash , known for his witty and clever verses, offers us a hilarious take on a dog's inner conflict in "The Dog's Dilemma." Here's a snippet from this delightful poem:

Oh, the Lord knows what is the dog's dilemma, and the cat's quandary is worse; How to capture the essence of supper in a scentless universe?

Nash's playful wordplay and the absurdity of a scentless universe create a comical atmosphere that will surely have you chuckling.

Celebrated children's poet Kenn Nesbitt entertains with his humorous poem, "Dogs are Silly." This light-hearted piece captures the funny quirks and peculiarities that make our canine companions so endearing. Here's a snippet:

Dogs are silly, dogs are strange, Dogs can be so very deranged. Dogs are goofy, dogs are mad, Dogs can drive you raving mad!

Nesbitt's playful rhymes and exaggerated descriptions perfectly capture the lovable absurdity of our furry friends, leaving readers of all ages giggling along.

Who can forget the classic excuse of "my dog ate my homework"? Poet Bruce Lansky takes this age-old tale and transforms it into a humorous and relatable poem. Here's a snippet:

My dog ate my homework. That mischievous pup got hold of my homework and gobbled it up.

Lansky's witty and straightforward style, combined with the comical image of a dog devouring schoolwork, will surely bring back memories of dodgy excuses and elicit a hearty laugh.

This anonymous poem, often shared online, humorously highlights the contrasting perspectives of dogs and cats. Though the author remains unknown, the poem's popularity is a testament to its comedic appeal. Here's a playful excerpt:

Day 983 of my captivity. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

The humorous irony of the dog's captivity juxtaposed with its rebellious acts provides a hilarious glimpse into the minds of our four-legged friends.

Funny poems bring joy and laughter into our lives, and when combined with our beloved canines, the result is pure delight. The poems highlighted above are just a small taste of the laughter-inducing canine comedy that awaits poetry enthusiasts. So, whether you're a dog lover, a poetry aficionado, or simply in need of a good laugh, these funny dog poems are sure to bring a smile to your face and remind you of the joy and comedy our furry friends bring into our lives.

My Puppy Ate My Earbuds

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

From the book My Cat Knows Karate

kenn nesbitt my dog ate my homework

My puppy ate my earbuds. My puppy ate my socks. My puppy chewed my tennis shoes and all my Lego blocks.

He gnawed upon my iPod as if it were a bone. He nibbled my Nintendo Switch and munched my mobile phone.

He grazed upon my skateboard, consumed my catcher’s mitts, and chomped my chess and checkers sets to tiny little bits.

He polished off my pillow, my blanket, and my sheet. My homework seems to be the only thing he will not eat.
