The Sims 4 Business Career

Rewards for investors and managers.

Sims 4's Business Career offers Management and Investor Branches

The Sims 4 Business Career features both Management and Investor Branches. Both of these may offer you opportunities that could, at random, make your Sim some extra money based on what you select and some random variation. The Career relies heavily on the Charisma and Logic Skills, no matter which branch you take. While it starts with an Ideal Mood of Energized , it shifts to Confident at Regional Manager (level 5) while the Career offers you to select a branch upon reaching level 7. Since Emotional buffs are fairly easy to get, you don't need any special traits to pursue either of these Careers. However, Outgoing and a Popularity Aspiration (to give the Gregarious Bonus Trait ) may be helpful to leveling Charisma and making Friends . While Friends are not necessary, it's just a perk to be able to have your social interactions succeed more often and perhaps level Charisma faster.

The starting Daily Task, Fill out Reports, can be found on the Computer under the Web menu. Filling out Reports may sometimes give your Sim a Bored Moodlet, "Paperwork Drudgery". This is tough, as it takes a few hours to do and you're already gone for the 9-5. Just accept that your Sim has less time in the early levels and will eventually get a better job without the boring paperwork.

Business Career

Management career.

Management Branch Rewards offer Confident Auras

The Management Career Branch features Confident Aura items, which are appropriate for the Career however not very useful for gaining progress in it because they don't work when you're out of the room. They may, however, help with the success rate of Make Business Calls (found on the Phone under Household), which may only be done from 8PM-8AM on Weekdays - meaning your Sim needs to do them after work hours. Making these calls can help you get promoted faster so long as you have the Skill requirements met. Sims who make successful calls may get a Confident or +2 Embarrassed Moodlet depending whether they succeed or fail at the deal. It's more important you complete them than if you bother to make them. I'd do them after work so that there is no chance of going into work totally embarrassed and risking some kind of freak accident emotional death. In order to get Confident before Work, you can simply Psych Self Up using a mirror or make your Sim brush their teeth.

Management Career Branch

Investor career.

Sims 4's Investor Branch offers Focused Items

Investor Benefits The Investor Branch has an Ideal Mood of Focused. It is the one I'd prefer between the two choices here, simply because of the Invest in Stock ability. Researching Stocks is the daily task (done under Computer > Web) and can give a +1 Focused Moodlet when complete. You'll also gain the ability to invest your Sim's money in stock. It seems that if you first use the Research Stocks ability and get the Moodlet you will have better results from investing, although you can still lose money. You can get up to 2.5x your money, or lose big and get only 20% of it back - there's a huge range of possibilities. Sims may invest $1,000, $2,000 or $5,000. In the long run, it seems worth the risk if your Sim has the Simoleons to spare. Investments may be made every 48 hours.

The Investor's Career Reward of items that give Focused Moodlets may aid in Investing, but is sure to help in other computer-related endeavors like Programming and building their Logic Skill should you place a Chess board or other Logic-building item within the same room. The easiest way to get Focused before work is to use a chess board and ponder moves just before the carpool arrives.

The Sims 4 Adding Controversial New Feature

The sims 4 reveals 2 new kits coming to the game on may 30, the sims 4: 12 best celebrity perks.

In The Sims 4 , for family oriented players who want to spend maximum time with their family, the business career proves to be an ideal option . This is mainly due to the fact that Sims with this career get weekends to enjoy with their loved ones.

The business career in The Sims 4 is tedious and challenging to start as report filling becomes a daily task for lackluster rewards. This guide will lead players through the intricacies of the business career in The Sims 4 and how to flourish in it. Related: The Sims 4: How To Get Inspired

Best Skills For Business Career

Business career expands to 2 branches once a player reaches rank 6. Upon reaching level 6, players can choose from “Management” and “Investor” careers. Both careers only require players to level up their Charisma and Logic skills .

Logic Skill

“Logic” skill is handy for these career paths. Players can choose the “Genius” trait in CAS mode to boost logic skills or Sims can choose to play chess for free in neighborhood parks. However, to advance in this skill quickly, investing in a telescope would be worth it if a Sim has some extra cash in hand .

The next skill that players needs to focus on is “Charisma”. Sims need to increase their interactions with fellow Sims in the game to level up charisma skill. Confidence proves to be the secret sauce to get maximum success in interactions. Players can choose the trait “Self-assured” to boost their confidence in The Sims 4 , which will eventually help them to level up “Charisma”.

Business Career Ranks And Branches

A business career consists of 10 ranks, each offering different earnings. Here is a look at the ranks and what earnings players can expect from this career.

Management Branch

Daily tasks in the management branch include making business calls, and the result of these calls will impact the moodlets of the Sims. However, players must remember that promotion in this branch demands more hard work and rewards offered are fewer than the investor branch.

Investor Branch

True to its name, daily tasks in the investor branch include researching stocks. Moreover, players will find relief in working 4 days a week while earning more than the management branch.

The Sims 4 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Sims 4 Business Career Guide: Move Over, Bezos!

  • Sims 4 Athlete Career Guide - August 18, 2022
  • Sims 4 Business Career Guide: Move Over, Bezos! - August 11, 2022

Let’s be honest: almost every one of us does not want to do house chores or work eight hours a day – but we don’t want mommy to get angry or to starve, do we? That is why it is all the more ironic that I spend most of my free time watching my Sims do house chores and work eight hours a day. No hate here; The Sims is one of my favorite games.

There are two types of Sims players; the first type just wants to make their Sims live the good life with mansions and glamour. The second one just watches their Sims’ life burn – literally. Or drown, or be crushed, etc.

For those who play the game to make their Sims successful, Sims 4 gives you 23 careers your Sims can choose from – though some are only available in DLCs and expansions. One of these is the Business Career. Watch your Sim successfully climb the corporate ladder and become a top dog – while you cry behind the screen because capitalism is a failure.

Fear not for sadistic players! Do you want to be powerful and successful and let everyone know it? Do you want to roleplay as the douchebag corporate that exploits the working class for your gain? If you wish to become Jeffrey Bezos, then the business career is the right track for every greedy, selfish and ambitious Sims.

Bottom Line Up Front

The Business Career is one of the 23 careers your sims could choose from in Sims 4. If you want your sims to be filthy rich, this career track gives sims opportunities to randomly earn extra money. After level 6, corporate sims can choose two branches; Managerial and Investor.

Like the other careers in the game, sims need to level up skills to get promoted. In the Business Career Track, you need to level up your charisma and logic skills if you want your sims to climb the corporate ladder.

There are also some traits and moods that could make your Sim’s climb to success much faster. Skills, emotions, and traits are influenced by how you design your Sim’s house and furnishing. Before starting the game, plan how to build your home to maximize the benefits.

Tips Before Starting the Career Path in Sims 4:

1. choose the right traits in sims 4.

sims 4 research business plan

Each Sim is unique because of the combination of traits that affect all aspects of their lives. The sim traits made them more likely to have certain moods, prefer certain lifestyles, and interact with certain sims.

It’s not surprising that their traits affect their career performance. Some traits encourage sims to get themselves promoted quickly, while others could hamper it. Hence, you need to be careful in choosing your sims’ traits if you want them to have a shot at a business career.

Good Traits for Business Career Path:

  • Genius – It’s probably one of the most important traits to possess if you want your sims to be successful in the Business Career Path. The trait randomly makes the Sims ‘focused,’ which is the ideal emotion for higher-level Business Career Jobs. Sims with Genius Trait would also have random ‘eureka moments’ during showers, improving a random skill the Sim already has.
  • Ambitious – Like in real life, you need to possess ruthless ambitions to become the top dog. Ambitious sims perform well in their jobs, allowing them to be promoted much faster. They would also gain great moodlets for simply having a job, making it much easier for your sims to be happy.
  • Connections – This trait is overpowered but expensive to gain. The Connection Trait allows the sims to start their careers in Level 4 (Regional Manager). However, you must be diligent in earning satisfaction points by fulfilling life aspirations and whims. Depending on your playthrough, it might take you generations before you can earn 2000 points.
  • Entrepreneurial – This trait is just as expensive as the Connection Trait, costing around 2000 satisfaction points. Sims with Entrepreneurial traits are more likely to be promoted. Personally, I prefer this trait over connections because it benefits the Sim throughout their career. Connections, on the other hand, are merely a one-off note.

Bad Traits for Business Career Path:

  • Lazy – Predictably like in real life, sims with Lazy traits are less likely to be energized, which is the ideal mood in the lower levels of the business career. This would tremendously affect the sims’ career performance badly. The lazy trait also conflicts with the Ambitious Trait.
  • Socially Awkward – Socially Awkward would make it much harder to level up Charisma due to their general interactions being affected by the trait. You need Charisma to have a promotion in the business career along with logic.
  • Loner – similar to Socially Awkward traits. Sims with Loner traits will receive negative moodlets when interacting with people. This trait would limit Sim’s ways to level up Charisma, which is needed to be promoted.

2. Skills needed for a Business Career

In real life, to become a successful businessman, you need to be good at strategizing and talking to people. That is why in Sims 4, two skills are required to be promoted; Logic and Charisma.

Logic

Logic is one of the classic skills that sims can learn. It is an excellent skill because many careers require it – one of them is the business career. One of the simplest ways to level up logic is to play a game of chess — multiple times a day.

Another way to increase logic is to buy logic books vol.1 – vol.3, especially if your sims have bookworm traits. Observatories and microscopes would also improve it.

Also, buy furnishing that encourages sims to be ‘focused.’ Sims will learn logic skills much faster if they are ‘focused.’

Charisma

Charisma is one of the classic skills that sims need to learn to climb the corporate ladder. It is a reasonably straightforward skill to learn. All your Sim needs to do is to buy a mirror and practice talking multiple times.

You can also level up Charisma through talking with other sims and reading charisma books. The convivial lot trait is a useful one to have because it gives you a boost of 50% in developing Charisma, mischief, and comedy.

Business Career in Sims 4

Business Career in Sims 4

Description: “Synergy! Efficiency! Planfulness! If the mere sound of these industry buzzwords gets you buzzing, then a business career might just be the right fit for you!”

Like the other career paths in Sims 4, the Business Career will have the starter track from levels 1 to 6 before branching off to different directions. After level 6, corporate sims can choose managerial or investor tracking.

So, you created your Sim and plopped them into the Sims World with little to no simoleon because they used all of it to buy a decent house. Now they need a job because we don’t want them to starve to death, right?

But you realize that an eight-hour minimum wage job would not give your Sim a massive mansion filled with $$$ furniture (just like real life). They need a high-paying job. Fast. You look at the career opportunities and notice that maybe the Business Career Path would give them the shot to live in a mansion. Your Sim’s workplace would be at Dewey, Cheatem & Howe Incorporated.

Starter Track in Sims 4 Business Career

Mailroom technician.

Mailroom Technician

Description: “Far from the days when postal correspondence was the lifeblood of a thriving business, today’s mailrooms have been made all but obsolete with the rise of email. Still, somebody’s gotta distribute all the online shopping deliveries! < Sim first name> will have to keep his/her energy level up to get noticed… and elevated from the mailroom! He/she can now Fill Out Reports on the computer and Gossip About Office Romances”.

Your sims will only live for a few months before they wither and die, but still, your sims will not suddenly become successful in one day (just like real-life). They still find themselves at the bottom of the corporate ladder; Mailroom Technician.

Your Sim will work from 9 am until 5 pm from Monday to Friday for a measly §16/Simoleon per hour. Your Sim’s energy will drain, so you need to make them energized as much as possible to be effective at their job.

Save enough money to buy a mirror and a small bookshelf to improve their logic and charisma skills. Use the weekend to develop your sims’ skills instead of weekdays. Doing it on weekdays would leave sims with little time to replenish their energy for their job, which might affect their career performance.

Your Sim will be promoted to Office Assistant once they reach level 2 in Charisma. So, prioritize your Sim’s Charisma but do not neglect logic because it is needed later on.

Office Assistant

Office Assistant

Description: “It’s amazing how much assistance an office needs. The more energy <sim first name> has, the more he’ll/she’ll get done. The better his/her social skills, the more recognition he’ll/she’ll receive”.

You are promoted! You manage to gain §130 Simoleon as a bonus. You get new clothes and new interactions. You also manage to gain your very own (stolen) nameplate!

Don’t celebrate just yet because the top of the ladder is still far ahead. Office Assistants still have the same schedule as your previous rank but with a higher pay of §20/hour. So, you need to make sure that your sims will be energized and practice your Sim’s skills during the weekend.

To be promoted to the next level, you need to reach level 2 in both logic and Charisma. If you were diligent in developing your skill, then it will only be a few days before the next promotion will be in sight.

Assistant to the Manager

Description: “It’s not quite the management track, but it’s the next best thing, isn’t it? After all, the manager only has one assistant…”

You are promoted once again! During your promotion, you will receive a bonus of §156 simoleons, a SALES award, and new interaction.

Your job sounds very fancy already but doesn’t get ahead of yourself, take note of the ‘to the’ in your title. Take a look at your measly increase of only §23/hour. The top dog is still far away. Continue on with our strategy of practicing your skills and keep them energized. For the next promotion, Assistant Manager requires your Sim to have level 4 charisma, so you need to prioritize that skill.

Assistant Manager

Assistant to the Manager

Description: “This is it… almost. Ok, so <sim first name>’s not a manager yet. Surely, he’s/she’s next in line for the position. It’s time to build those people skills for when he/she has people to boss about, er… manage.”

Congratulations! You are now a true and thorough Manager. Assistant Manager, that is. You can feel that your fortunes are turning in your favor. I mean, just look at that huge leap in your salary from §23/hour to §35/hour!

Now that you are in your own office cozying on your own desk, the ideal emotion for a manager is now confidence. With your salary, try to buy furnishing that would make your sims confident before going to work.

But it is not enough; it was never enough for you and your Sim’s ambitions to be merely an ‘assistant.’ Not even §187 bonus! So, you let your Sim continue practicing in the mirror until your Sim reaches level 4. Your Sim will become Regional Manager in no time.

Regional Manager

Description: “<sim first name>’s the man/woman now! … Or at least the manager of a region of the company. That means he’s/she’s got to keep working on his/her people skills if he/she wants an even bigger slice of the pie.”

Yet another step has been taken. You are now in charge of a certain region already – your very own kingdom to tyrannize manage! You finally tasted some semblance of power, and now you have the saying ‘once tasted, always wanted.’

As the new Regional Manager, you manage to receive §281 simoleons, new clothes, and pie presentations. You also now have a salary of §53/hour – that’s a lot of money already.

Stay confident, and stick with your schedule in developing your skills. Though by this time, you just need to level up your logic by one level so that you will be promoted in a few days.

Senior Manager

Senior Manager

Description: “<sim first name> has proved himself/herself as a manager but he’s/she’s got her sights set on the next level. Whether he/she wants to be an executive or a financial whiz, it’s time to put the effort in and make it happen.”

You’re not just a manager; you are THE manager. As a Senior Manager, you will enjoy a bonus worth §527 and the tiny tranquility garden. Your salary is now raised from §53/hour to §75/hour. That’s big money, but you’re halfway there, imagine how much money you can earn the further up you go.

What now? After Senior Manager, your Sim would have to choose two branching paths. The first branch is Managerial, and the other one is Investor. It’s up to you which branch you would take, but here is my take on the pros and cons of each branch:

Managerial Branch in Sims 4 Business Career

Business Career

Description: “Should everyone be laid off and replaced by robots? Should the company logo be redone to include more llamas? These are the types of critical decisions you would be making should you choose to venture down the path of management.”

The Managerial Branch is one of the two branches of the Business Career. The rewards in the Managerial Branch are items and furnishing that boost the sims’ confidence. The Managerial Branch also puts more emphasis on Charisma than Logic.

‘Make Business Calls’ is an interaction unique to the Managerial Branch. You can find this interaction in your home telephone; making calls would help your career performance – promoting you faster. A successful call will boost your Sim’s confidence, while a failed call embarrasses them.

Do the interaction after working hours because of the chances of a failed call. A failed call will give you an embarrassed moodlet which could badly affect your career performance. Don’t forget to psych up your Sim before going to work to make them confident.

The Managerial Branch is much more stable than the Investor; thus, this branch is much more fitting for Sims, who does not want to risk their hard-earned money.

Investor Branch in Business

Investor Branch in Business

Description: “It takes Simoleons to make Simoleons. Optimize your investments through diligent research and try to turn piles of Simoleons into even bigger piles of Simoleons!”

The Investor Branch is another branch you can choose in your Business Career. Many reward items you can receive in the Investor Branch give you ‘focused’ moodlets. Focused is very important if you decide you want your Sim to become an investor because the focus would make logic increase faster. Focused Sims also have a higher chance of a successful investment.

The Investment Branch also offers a unique interaction which is called ‘Researching Stock,’ which gives you a focused moodlet. What makes the investor branch unique is that you can actually invest your money in stocks. Like investing in real life, there is a possibility that the money you invest will grow large or disappear – depending on your luck.

Essentially, the investor branch allows you to earn extra money through investments but with high risk. This path is for players who believe in the saying ‘high risk, high reward.

For players who like the roleplaying aspect of the game (like me), having a ton of additional options compared to the base game is the best outcome. However, I think that these jobs should have been part of the base game and not as a DLC. Nevertheless, I am happy for what we have.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Retail Guide

Guide to opening your store & basic concepts.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Open for Business

This Guide will teach you to open your own small business in The Sims 4. The outside decorations help attract customers through 'curb appeal'.

The Sims 4's Get to Work Expansion Pack marks the return of the Open for Business style management of retail stores, which Simmers have missed since The Sims 2. Nearly anything in the game can be sold for a profit, and you've got a number of options to help you optimize how your business is run and rake in the Simoleans.

The Retail features work similarly no matter what type of items you want to sell, so this guide is relevant to anything from a variety store or bakery, to an art gallery or book store. Maxis and The Sims Studio decided to bring in the ability to dress mannequins and sell outfits, so even clothing shops are possible with the business system. Retail Perks and the ability to promote employees and designate their uniforms gives a lot of customization options for the player to make their dream business. Because this one runs the risk of being too long, I'm breaking it into three sections: first you'll find the basics for operating a business here, then we'll go into managing the store's employees , dealing with customers , and finally the Retail Perks you can purchase. With introductions out of the way, here's a guide to everything you need to know to run a successful business in The Sims 4 Get to Work!

Opening a Business

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Magnolia Promenade

Magnolia Promenade offers 3 pre-built businesses you can take over. You may also build on any empty lot or convert any lot to Retail.

You have multiple options for where to start your business. First is the new area of Magnolia Promenade where there are four lots to choose from. You can elect to take over one of the three pre-built lots for sale there, which are expensive but established businesses that you can manage. Most players will prefer to make their own from scratch on an empty lot. To do this, use your Sim's phone and go to the Career/Household tab, then select Buy a Retail Store. You will be taken to a world selection screen, from which you can browse lots to buy in any Neighborhood that you own. Any lot that doesn't have something else on it will automatically be flagged as Retail when purchased. If the lot you want isn't available, see below to make it possible. A small empty lot will cost you around $3,000, which is not much but hard on a newly-created Sim's budget given the need to construct the store. It's best to have some items and cash on hand from some other means of making money because you must invest at least a little money into the business, which we'll look at next.

Mark a Lot as Retail If the lot you want to run your business on already has a house or store built on it, you can set it to retail to allow you to purchase it when selecting where to open your business. Do this by going to ESC > Manage Worlds > Click Lot > Change Lot Type > Retail. This will evict any households living there and let you then go through the above process to purchase the lot for your business.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: You may transfer funds to and from your business at any time.

Funds may be transferred to the business from Household funds and back again at any time.

Investing in the Business When you first create your retail shop, you'll need to transfer some money from household funds. This acts as the business's bank account, allowing you to build, stock items, and cover employee salaries. Don't worry about putting too much into it, because as the business owner you are able to take money out of its account at any time. While your Sim is on the business lot, the cash value you see at the bottom will be the business funds - not your household's. If you're running out of cash for the store, there's a little button just to the left of the funds at the bottom that enables you to transfer money to and from the business. You can also click the cash register to do this, but why bother when the developers provided this handy little way of doing so.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Retail Store Window

The Retail Store Window lets you Manage your Business

The Retail Store Window Look to the bottom right next to the needs button while on your Retail Lot, where you'll find the Retail Store menu. From there, you can do many of the things discussed below. You may manage employees and their uniforms, set the store's overall price markup, open/close the business, view financial reports, and purchase Retail Perks.

Designing the Business Lot The only requirement for your business is a counter and cash register, which mainly seems to hold money as customers won't line up to check out but rather stand near the item they want to buy. You cannot place a cash register without a counter, found under Objects by Function > Retail Items. Once that is done, you can design your lot as you see fit. There are ample shelving options to suit your needs, from refrigerated cabinets for foods and display cases, pedestals for beautification to basic metal shelves that can hold several objects at once. Consider placing items that provide a flat environment score to the room where the majority of shopping will be done, as that may help you to make more sales. Your salesmen will have a better success rate with customers and the retail-oriented interactions if they're in the right mood. Go for flat environment for happy, and anything that raises confidence to help put them in that helpful mood. Buy signs for the outside of your shop to raise curb appeal and get more customers.

Business Management Concepts and Tips

Selling Goods The design of your business lot doesn't matter much, but having a wide selection of objects seems to help. Having plenty of different things in the store gives customers more options, though no central theme is necessary. You can run a variety store with any random objects you want to sell. Books, clothes, and rotten fish? No problem! Certain things, like paintings, need to be placed inside your Sim's Household Inventory in order to be sold at the business. You can't otherwise access those crafted items that have been placed in the home. Anything you can sell will be replaced with restocking, even rare items and specific paintings. This isn't a way for you to duplicate those rares, just a realistic mechanic that lets you buy a new one to sell to the next customer.

In order to mark an item as For Sale, simply click it to instantly toggle the option. You can pause the game once everything is placed, then go through and mark everything intended for sale. It's easier if you click the cash register and select, 'Toggle For Sale Tag', as you will see each item for sale have the red tag and better know if you've missed something. Simply click this again to turn it off.

Selling Clothes Buy Mannequins to sell clothing in your store. You can design the clothes yourself in Create-a-Sim, or have the game generate random outfits when you click a mannequin. You may change the mannequin's pose. Clothing comes in at about the same prices no matter what type it is, so in general having the maximum 10 mannequins on your lot with a variety of clothing types and genders is a good idea. You should probably flesh out your store with some extra objects to give customers more choices on things to buy. Only Sims of the appropriate age/gender can buy particular outfits, so this is important.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Operating a Bakery

Managing a Bakery is similar to all other shops. Either put food in your Sim's inventory from home or have an oven, counter, and fridge on site to help you stock the store. Restocking a Bakery or other food store is done without the need to cook to replace sold items, but it's easier to fill it out with the necessary equipment in the actual bakery.

Selling Food or Operating a Bakery Making a bakery or selling any other type of food works similarly to other types of retail, except the need for refrigerated display cases to keep food fresh much longer. Once you create something, you may simply restock it at 80% of its sell cost (meaning higher quality means higher restocking fees). This means you don't have to keep cooking food, but you should! It's cheaper to cook a new high-quality dish than to wreck your profits by restocking a $650 serving of trout!

Because you can keep baking and selling in this way while avoiding restocking fees, operating a food store of any kind features one of the higher profit margins in the game. It just takes a bit more of your time. You can get some of this time back by skipping the usual refrigerated displays and utilizing the vending displays. With a vending display, a customer doesn't need to be rung up to make a purchase! They can buy it straight away, so you can have your employees cleaning and working customers while your main Sim cooks.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Cash Register

All that is required is a cash register. The rest is up to you!

Price Markup Pricing relies on a simple system that makes sense - you control the store's overall markup rate by clicking the cash register or interface at bottom right. The default is 25%, meaning an object worth $100 would sell for $125, resulting in $25 profit. Restocking would cost you $100, and let you sell it again. Your array of markup options include:

  • Clearance - 5% Markup
  • Sale - 15% Markup
  • Normal - 25% Markup
  • Pricey - 50% Markup
  • Exorbitant - 100% Markup

The cheaper your products, the more likely customers are to buy them without any interaction. With exorbitant prices, you can expect to have to drive a hard sell on the customer and use many interactions to earn the money. Start with the default and tweak prices based on what you're able to handle. If you're only getting a few customers, you may raise prices a bit so that you can work them individually. Once you have employees, consider lowering them back to base so that more can happen autonomously. At that point, the only reason to raise them is if you've got a lot of Retail Perks or are missing a lot of sales.

Restocking Restocking items is a necessity to running the shop. You will want to prioritize the higher value items, because another customer may be interested in purchasing it. Overall, one of each thing is plenty because of the ability to put that item back. It takes about 30 minutes to restock something. When multiple items need restocking, direct an employee to take care of that so your Sim can manage customers.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Losing a Sale

Losing a sale is not good, but sometimes it just can't be avoided.

The Customer - Pitching a Sale Know that while some customers will buy something without you doing anything, others will only buy if you happen to successfully deploy the Retail social options on them. The blue bar above a customer's head indicates how likely they are to buy something when done shopping (more on this in the Customers section of the Guide). You can raise this bar faster by interacting with them. For running a store (as well as generally playing Sims 4) I recommend you go to your gameplay options and select, "Traditional Social Menu" so that Retail is always there when you first click a customer. The same is true for the Manage social options for employees and Assign Work Task. You want these options accessible with a click so that it's easy to use them multiple times rather than click three times for each interaction. When you are interacting with a customer, the order of socials doesn't seem to matter, but save the newer ones that appear as you woo the customer for when the blue bar is higher. Your Sim's Mood and Charisma may come into play for success rates here, and as you use the socials and get positive results you will eventually see the customer head toward an item and be ready to be rung up. You can then let an Employee handle them (or go for it yourself if it's a big item to ensure it's sold) and move on to the next customer. You will rack up Retail Perk points for performing these interactions, and it's a steady stream in between sales.

Once a customer has made a decision to buy, a shopping cart will appear over their head and you'll get a notification. This means they're ready to be rung up. The amount of time it takes them to give up seems to be about 45-60 Sim minutes, max. It will start blinking around 30 minutes, so if you have two that are ready at once and you're behind on this, take the one that is near the most expensive item to maximize your profits. If it's blinking really fast, choose the other as it will take your Sim a moment to initiate the interaction. You can't get them all. If you find yourself constantly overwhelmed, again I will say that you should consider raising prices by one notch or hiring more employees via Perk Points.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Displays

Plenty of display types are available. This is less than half the types of offerings in the Expansion Pack.

Things that Can't Be Sold The Retail feature of Get to Work is so inclusive of player ideas that a list of things you can sell would be tiresome. It's better for people who are wondering about this that I focus on those things that cannot be sold, in order to rule them out. In short, you can't sell things that are purely decorative and can't be clicked. While you can sell things like lighting, because it can be clicked to bring up a menu, things like rugs, building elements like walls and doors, outdoor shrubbery, and trees can't be clicked. Surfaces can't be sold, because what would happen to those objects on them? If it's a decorative item that can't be admired or interacted with, you won't be able to sell it. If you can click it and get an interaction, your Sim can probably sell it. Things that exist solely in your Sim's inventory and cannot be placed in the game world, like garden shoots for grafting, also cannot be sold. The other 98% of things in the game? You can sell it, and make a tidy profit doing so.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Toggle for Sale Tag

'Toggle for Sale Tag' is useful to make sure you haven't missed flagging any of your wares for sale.

Employee Basics From the Retail Store window or cash register, you can select Manage Employees. This lets you choose who to hire, promote to give a raise, and even fire if they just don't meet your expectations or are just plain slacking too much. If you're just starting a store, you should probably manage it yourself at first then bring in an employee once you know where you need help and have started to turn a profit. Employees start at $19/hour and may go up to $51/hour and more when promoted. They have three Skills related to Retail: Maintenance (how well they are at cleaning and restocking the store), Sales (pitching to customers), and Work Ethic (reduced odds of them slacking). They gain levels in these from performing related tasks, or as in the case of Work Ethic, being berated and praised, so don't worry if you hire someone with a weak point - work on it or keep that person working in other areas.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: Snazzy Shirt

The Snazzy Shirt can be unlocked for your employees' uniforms through Retail Perks

Employees hired during the workday will not show up. They appear on the next opening of the store. While they're at work, you can click them to Assign Work Task. This lets you choose between restocking, cleaning, interacting with customers to make sales, and ringing up customers. Employees will only work up to 9 hours, after which they will leave due to labor laws. They seem to grow dissatisfied if you keep them long too often, so plan to set an 8 hour work shift and, if you're going to run over, let that employee clock out early.

Knowing how satisfied they are is important. You can see this from the manage employees window. Satisfaction levels range from: Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Neutral, Unsatisfied, to Very Unsatisfied. If an Employee is Very Unsatisfied, the most likely culprit is they feel they are not being paid enough for their skills. Natural dissatisfaction will crop up as their Skills rise if they stay at the same pay grade. Give them a raise if you want to keep them. A highly skilled employee will not stand for $19/hour, and as they gain Skill you are going to get better results out of them anyway. You can, in theory, help make a super employee by building up their Skills and switching them from different roles, applying praise and occasionally berating them for slacking if necessary. Overall keep an eye on them while they work and assign tasks that need done - set one to restock for a time, others to talk to customers and take care of ringing them up yourself for the Perk Points. Employee Uniforms are not necessary, but may be helpful to you for managing to keep an eye on them. You'll probably want them to give your business some personality.

Selling the Business You can sell your business at any time, should you tire of managing it or want to buy a new one on another lot. Know that Retail Perks go with it, but you will get the business' full face value - all money in its account and the value of all combined objects on the lot transferred to your household funds.

Open for Business! With these basics down, you should be ready to Open your Business for the first time using the Retail Store menu or cash register. If you'd like to learn more detailed information on running your store day to day, managing employees, or Retail Perks, continue reading !

The Sims 4 Get To Work: Types of Businesses you can open

businesstypesfeatured

The Sims 4 Get To Work was the first expansion pack released for The Sims 4. It came with a number of new features including the first active careers as well as the option to have your own retail store.

When the expansion pack first launched, there were a handful of different types of businesses you could create. However, as we saw more packs released, the variety of different businesses you could create and own grew! We shall be exploring some ideas of retail stores you can create using The Sims 4 Get To Work expansion pack, as well as a number of possibilities using other packs from The Sims 4.

Getting Started

Now that you have purchased your retail store location, there are several different types of businesses you create when you are just starting out with a new Retail Store.

  • Clothing Store
  • Arts Store – Painting and Sculptures

While the four types of businesses can seem like very broad ideas, you can break these down even further into more specific types of businesses if you wanted to.

For example, a homeware store can cover a multitude of different things. You could make it more specific by tailoring it to a specific room or theme. Here are a few examples of how you could do that.

  • Kitchen & Dining
  • Bathroom & Laundry
  • Living Room & Study
  • Garden & Outdoor Spaces
  • Kids – Toy Store, Kids Room Furnishings

The same can go for clothing stores as well. You could create one that stocks a number of different clothing options, or one that targets a specific theme instead.

Here are some examples below.

  • Hot/Cold Weather
  • Sports & Swim
  • Mens & Womens Wear

These are just a handful of ideas of businesses you can create by just having The Sims 4 Get To Work. Of course, with the more packs that you own, the more possibilities you have as well.

More Packs, More Ideas

As we know, each pack adds something new to the game and when it comes to ideas for businesses, it is no exception. Here is a list of retail store ideas that you can use alongside other packs that you own.

  • Void Critters Store – Kids Room
  • Winter Sports Store – Snowy Escape
  • Water Sports Store – Island Living
  • Beach Essentials – Island Living
  • Grocery Store – Cottage Living
  • Student Essentials Shop – Discover University
  • Pet Store – Cats & Dogs & My First Pet Stuff
  • Apartment Essentials – City Living & Tiny Living
  • Eco Living – Eco Lifestyle
  • Camping Store – Outdoor Retreat
  • Magic & Mystery – Realm of Magic, Vampires & Strangerville
  • Photography & Art – Moschino
  • Plants – Blooming Rooms & Industrial Loft Kits

While the ideas above are more specific to the packs mentioned, you will find that almost all the objects in The Sims 4 can be sold. This means that realistically, you can create almost any kind of business you want.

  • Video Games Store
  • Music Store
  • Collectibles Store
  • Craftables Store
  • Antiques Store
  • Health & Beauty Store

While the ideas mentioned in this post are just some ideas of businesses you can create using The Sims 4 Get To Work’s Retail Store feature, there are still plenty more out there that you can create.

The Sims 4 Get To Work: Types of Businesses you can open

Why not combine The Sims 4 Get To Work with Plopsy from The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting ? Combine the world of physical sales with online sales?

  • Not getting many customers when you first open? Why not run a small advertising campaign to promote your business! Simply head over to the cash register and select Purchase Advertising.
  • Get to know your customers by getting involved in the conversation. Greet them and talk to them about their shopping preferences, by using the Retail option on the Sims interaction menu.
  • Ring your customers up in a timely manner! Nothing worse than losing a sale as your Sim hasn’t made it to them in time.
  • Don’t forget your Sims can employ staff to help your business grow over time as well as help you serve customers!
  • Spend your Perk Points to unlock more features and interactions for your business!

Ultimate Sims Guides

The Sims 4: Education Career Guide

With the new addition of The Sims 4: Discover University comes three new careers, Education, Engineering, and Law. All of the careers are great additions to the game and have been long awaited.

I think the education career is one of the most sought after and many players have been waiting for this to be added for months, if not years. This guide is going to tell you everything you need to know about mastering the education career in The Sims 4.

Traits for the Education Career

The education career is going to heavily focus on the research and debate skill, so genius may be a good trait to choose as those sims are probably going to enjoy research more than other sims.

You may also find genius helpful because a genius sim gets focused more often and focused is a great mood for using the research machines. Also, genius is great for the logic skill which is the second skill for the professor branch.

You may also want to choose outgoing if you are going down the administrative branch because charisma is a large focus on that side.

Lot Traits for the Education Career

Lot traits can really make your sims grow their skills more quickly and are a great addition to any household. If your sim is choosing the administrative branch, convivial is a great lot trait because it allows charisma interactions to go more smoothly.

If you’re going down the professor branch, you may want to choose science lair because that will help your sim increase their logic skill more quickly.

Degrees that Help With Education

There are certain degrees that are going to help you in each career, with these degrees you’ll get to skip a few levels, get a signing bonus, and get more vacation days. The degrees that can help this career are economics, and psychology .

Working From Home

The education career is one of the newer careers that has a work from home option attached to it. This means that every morning an hour before you’re set to start work a popup will appear asking if you’d like to go to work or work from home.

If you choose to go to work, your sim will leave the lot like normal and come home when their shift is over. If you choose to work from home, you’ll be given a list of tasks to complete by the start of your shift the next day.

Every time you complete a work from home task you’ll be given a bit of money and sometimes even a bonus if you’re boss is impressed with your work. This is a great option if you want to raise kids while having a successful career.

The work from home tasks in this career include things like practice lecture, grade papers, and more. If you are unsure how to complete a work from home task you can hover over it in the career panel and it will tell you how.

Education Career Levels

“ Shape tomorrow’s minds with a career in Education. Though, at times, challenging, there are few jobs quite as rewarding.”

Education Career Unlocks (Before Branch)

With every career in The Sims 4, you’ll have different unlockable items that are only available if you complete the requirements or through using cheats. There are 3 really cute unlocks that your sim will receive if they make it through the first 5 levels of the education career.

The first is the A is for Apple Cloc k, which is a really cute clock for any kid’s bedroom or family home. The next is the The World is Your Oyster art. And finally you’ll unlock The Teacher’s Desk , a nice desk with drawers that look exactly how you remember from elementary school.

Administrator Branch

“Sims Pursuing a career in University administration will fill a variety of roles, all critical to the success of the larger institution. You don’t work directly with the students, but your decisions will impact their entire education experience and their lives for years to come.”

When you join the administrator branch, your sim is going to unlock some new abilities including: review budget proposals, plan agenda for faculty meeting, write grants, and ask for donations .

This branch of the career focuses on the charisma skill which you can gain from practicing a speech in the mirror or through actually talking to other sims which will gain the skill quicker.

Administrator Branch Levels

Administrator branch unlocks.

The administrator branch has two really great unlocks that look great on any wall. The first is the Memories of Graduation wall art, and you also unlock the Learning Embetterment Award.

Professor Branch

“ Pursue a career as a university professor. Run lectures, assist students, research for the university, and of course, assign grades!”

The professor branch of this career is going to focus on the logic skill and of course, the new research and debate skill. You can gain logic on the chess board and the research and debate skill can be learned using a research machine.

You’re also going to have new abilities open up to you on the computer, like write scholarly paper, plan lecture, and write letter of recommendation. These don’t do a ton, except for the paper is your daily task.

You also have the option of making extra money through tutoring students online. This takes a few hours but you can make a few hundred dollars when it’s completed.

Professor Branch Levels

Professor branch unlocks.

The professor branch is lacking in fun unlocks, but you do unlock the learning embetterment award which is a cute addition to any home office as well as a new CAS item.

Final Thoughts

The education career may be one of my favourite new additions in The Sims 4: Discover University, since teaching is such a common career track! You can do a lot with this career especially with the ability to work from home.

You should also check out the law and engineering career guides!

I've been playing the Sims since the first game was released when I was only 5 years old. It's been a huge passion of mine for two decades and I've loved every single minute of it. I also love dogs. And grilled cheese sandwiches. And I think me and Bob Pancakes could be friends.

How Your Business Should Tap into the Creator Economy

  • Rebecca Karp,
  • Carolyn Fu,
  • Simon Friis

sims 4 research business plan

Influencer marketing is upending established customer-facing businesses.

Creators aren’t just changing marketing. They’re transforming product development, too. Creators can drive demand for specialized products, accelerating product life cycles and even changing what customers actually value. Companies that recognize the power of creators can choose from four strategies, including partnering with creators or acting as suppliers.

Forget what you knew about creators, or influencers like Mr. Beast and Charli D’Amelio who make content for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Content creators are silently rewriting the innovation and strategy rule book for a multitude of established companies, particularly in the consumer goods and services industries. By changing how consumers search for and use products, creators are: 1) driving demand for increasingly specialized products and services; 2) accelerating product life cycles; and 3) changing what customers actually value.

  • RK Rebecca Karp is an Assistant Professor in the Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School. Her research examines how firms execute on their strategies and grow. In particular, she focuses on the role innovation plays in supporting strategy execution, fostering change in organizational work practices and in shaping the way firms grow.
  • CF Carolyn Fu is an assistant professor of business administration in the Strategy Unit of Harvard Business School.
  • SF Simon Friis is a Research Scientist at the blackbox Lab at Harvard Business School, where he focuses on understanding the social and economic implications of artificial intelligence. He received his Ph.D. in Economic Sociology from the MIT Sloan School of Management and previously worked at Meta as a research scientist.

Gee Thanks, EA, The Sims 4 Definitely Needed A Battle Pass

The sims 4: how to get all daily rewards, wuthering waves: verina build guide, quick links, the simfluencer career, career levels, how to post a review in the simfluencer career.

Explore the Simfluencer side hustle with the High School Years expansion pack. This Sims 4 expansion brought a lot to the table, gameplay-wise. If you're more of a gameplay player than a builder or a CAS player, then you'll definitely enjoy everything it has to offer and add to your Sims' personalities.

In this guide, we'll go over the new Simfluencer career/side hustle, so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. So, keep reading to learn more.

Updated September 1, 2023, by Sean Murray: If you're looking for how your Sims 4 character can become a Simfluencer, then you're in the right place. We've refreshed this guide with improved formatting and a few more related links so after you're done posting your product review you can move on to the many other tasks in your Sims' digital life.

The Simfluencer career won't take up much of your Sim's time, which is exactly why it's considered a side hustle and not a full-time job . Therefore, if your Sim tends to be busy often taking care of their children, gardening, and fixing objects around the home, for example, this is just what they need as a relaxing job.

You can become a Simfluencer by joining the Simfluencer career just like you'd do with any other career path , opening your Sim's phone, and selecting the ' find a job ' option.

Then, simply scroll down to find ' Simfluencer .' Next, you'll have to choose between the day shift (5:30 am - 7:30 am) and the night shift (9 pm - 11 pm), and you'll be able to either work from home or go to work. You are ineligible for vacation as a Simfluencer, but you have Sundays and Wednesdays off, and you can always call in sick.

The first step in your career as a Simfluencer is as a Nano-Simfluencer : You'll get 36 Simoleons per hour, and you can get promoted once you reach Level 2 in the Entrepreneur and the Charisma skills . There are only three career positions available , meaning you can only go up the corporate ladder twice.

Once you reach Level 2, you'll become a Macro-Simfluencer , which will require you to get Entrepreneur and Charisma to Level 4 . Here you'll be earning 55 Simoleons per hour.

Lastly, you'll be able to become a Mega-Simfluencer once you reach Level 3. You'll receive 74 Simoleons an hour and as a Mega-Simfluencer, you'll occasionally receive commercial gifts in the mail . Your schedule will never change as you progress, only how much you earn.

You might also want to consider reaching the max level of the Entrepreneur skill (Level 5) since it'll increase how much you earn per hour on a job . If you're a Mega-Simfluencer, you'll go from 74 Simoleons to 96 Simoleons per hour.

If you want to get promoted faster, you should always complete your daily work task of posting a review . This is pretty easy, but you have to know what you should be interacting with and how to upload it. Here's how you can do it:

  • Click on a review-worthy object and select the "Make Lifestyle Review" interaction - there's no list explaining which objects you can review in The Sims 4, so you'll have to use your best judgment and interact with what you'd expect to read reviews on in real life, objects such as cross-stitching kits, bikes , and such.
  • Open your inventory - then select the "Make Lifestyle Review" interaction; your Sim will write it on their computer automatically; once they're done, it'll appear as a hard drive in your inventory .
  • Press the hard drive and select "Upload Lifestyle Review" - selecting this option will make your Sims upload the review directly to their social media account; this will improve their follower account and boost their work performance .
