Can I create a Slide Library in PowerPoint?

  • December 14, 2020

Lee-Ann

Looking for a great way to reuse your favorite PowerPoint slides and objects?  Perhaps you’re looking for a SharePoint Slide Library replacement? PPT Productivity add-in has a Slide Library for PowerPoint feature which lets you easily save and reuse slides, shapes. You can use the Slide Library to save slides, frameworks, diagrams, pictures, image files, logos and much more.

If your company uses SharePoint Server, you may have previously used Microsoft’s PowerPoint Slide Library feature.   This feature made it easier to save and reuse specific PowerPoint Slides, but Microsoft decommissioned the feature in the release of SharePoint 2016.

The PPT Productivity Slide Library for PowerPoint lets you have Personal and Team Libraries of slides, icons, images and other objects that can be easily reused in your PowerPoint presentations.

You can also use it to share slides and objects with colleagues. You can also boost your library with 2000+ downloadable standard slides and shapes from PPTProductivity.com (included with your license). We think it’s a great SharePoint slide library replacement.

How does PPT Productivity Slide Library work?

Think of the Slide Library Toolbar as the access point – a searchable toolbar displaying thumbnail images which appears in PowerPoint to the right of your screen.  The Slide Library Toolbar displays all of the objects from library folders you have created or downloaded.  Libraries can be:

  • Personal Slide Library – you can create one or more library folders of your favorite slides, frameworks and other objects and search across them all from the Slide Library Toolbar (a library folder is simply a grouping mechanism to provide more search options). This is your own private library which is either stored on your local machine or your nominated share drive that supports local replication for working offline (e.g. OneDrive)
  • Team Slide Library – Team Slide Library files are saved on your company’s internal share drive (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox) enabling all team members with access to the drive to sync to a common PowerPoint Team Slide Library (which is hosted within your organizations existing document storage solution). Team members can also synch to download the Team Library so they can work remotely at the client site or when travelling. Note that you can have access to both a Team Slide Library and your Personal Slide Library and either search across them or select which library you prefer to search across.
  • PPT Productivity Downloadable - PPT Productivity offers 50 libraries with 2000+ objects (including: icons, flags, maps, agenda layouts, table layouts, chevron diagrams, organizational chart templates, common consulting frameworks and more)
  • Individual users and Teams can have one or many library folders . That's right! Perhaps you're in the design team working with multiple business units. You could have separate PowerPoint Slide Libraries for each team and other separate ones for your own most commonly used shapes and slides.
  • Slides and editable objects inserted into your presentations are as editable as the original version that you saved.  There is a checkbox option to ‘use source formatting’. If this checkbox is deselected, the pasted slides or objects inherit the destination file’s properties.

Can I share a slide library in PowerPoint?

PPT Productivity includes a Team Slide Library feature. Setting up your team with access to a Team Slide Library (previously called the Corporate Gallery) means all team members can easily access a set of common slides and objects, from within PowerPoint.  Providing the Team Slide Library with a set of standard slides, icons and elements to all team members makes it easy for them to quickly create brand aligned and consistent presentations.

Importantly - when you create a Team library it is stored in your organizations IT stack (the files remain hosted on your company's share drive). Your organization retains full control of the security of your company intellectual property. PPT Productivity does not save Team Library / Corporate Gallery on any central hosting or in our systems.

Can I have multiple Slide Libraries in PowerPoint?

Yes - users of the PPT Productivity Slide Library can have one or many different slide libraries for use within individual teams, business units or throughout the whole organization. For example, consulting and graphic design firms may prefer to create a separate Slide Library for each client.

In short, PPT Productivity's SharePoint slide libraries alternative enables you to:

  • Save and name each slide, shape, framework, image, logo you want to re-use to the Slide Library all from within PowerPoint.
  • Access and re-use saved slides/ shapes easily as it displays within PowerPoint as a toolbar at the right-hand side of your PowerPoint screen
  • Search the slide library easily in PowerPoint by name, part name, thumbnail image or keyboard shortcut
  • Ensure all team members are using the most up to date version of your custom corporate slides as the Corporate Slide Libraries can be updated and changes are automatically applied to all users
  • Boost your library with Thousands of Downloadable PowerPoint Slides and Shapes that can be used ‘straight out of the box’ or customized and saved to your personal/ corporate library folders.

How does this feature compare with Standard PowerPoint Reuse and Collaborate features?

Standard PowerPoint doesn’t have a Slide Library feature.  PowerPoint has Reuse and Collaboration features, but they do not lets you create a library or shortlist of best slides and objects.

  • Microsoft’s PowerPoint Reuse feature enables users to copy a specific PowerPoint slide from a previous presentation into the pack you are working on. But the Reuse feature doesnt let you name slides from your previous work and add them to a library along with elements from slides.
  • Microsoft’s PowerPoint Collaboration feature enables multiple users to edit a PowerPoint slide and shows comments and iterations of changes made. But neither of these features allows you to save specific slides for use in future presentations.

PPT Productivity offers free personalized demonstrations if you would like to see the Slide Library (and the many other features) in action and free 30 day trials (no credit card details required).

So if you’re looking for a SharePoint slide library replacement or just a great way to save and reuse PowerPoint slides and other objects, PPT Productivity’s Slide Library is a great option for you

What is a Slide Management? Can it Solve Slide Library Problems?

If we asked you to come up with a list of all the presentation problems you’ve seen as a manager, we’d both be here all week. From last minute corrupted files to the company logo from last year, you’ve probably felt the stress of it all whilst wondering why this problem seems to be infallible against change.

Business does not want PowerPoint to die. It’s predictable, and stops showmanship getting in the way of bad content. It never fails to show the ugly truth, and it doesn’t dazzle you with impressive results and in the corporate world that’s a pretty valuable card to hold.

So besides hauling your whole company on to a CMS presentation tool, what other organizational options do you have as a manager to make PowerPoint work?

Well, you could implement a strict presentation upload point, and wait for the mess to start. Or you could just cut to the chase and start using a slide library to manage your presentations for you.

How Does a Slide Library Work?

Slide library presentation management 01

A slide library, or (slidelibrary) is a collection of individual slide templates, organized in a way which makes it fast and effective to build quality presentations .

They’re usually adapted to company specifications. Meaning that every employee has access to hundreds of ppt charts, graphs, and other types of slides . All with the correct company presentation logos, color schemes, and fonts.

With a slide library there are three main areas in which it can solve management PowerPoint presentation problems:

1. Location, Location, Location

If your team do not currently keep presentations organized, you may not realize what a blessing keeping presentations in one place can be.

It’s not only a great way to save space on your team’s computers, but also creates a research base. Somewhere for future presenters to hunt for the information they need.

It can also be used to ensure presentation content quality is high. Allowing employees to check small details of presentations without having to send a waterfall of unanswered emails.

But best of all, keeping all your presentations in one place allows you to reuse slides in the future. With our slidelibrary, you can even search for content within presentations.

2. Easy as ABC

Keeping things easy in the office can be a daunting task. Between managing teamwork and ensuring everyone is giving it their all, achieving simplicity can seem impossible. But with presentations, it really doesn’t need to be that hard.

Using a slide organizer will naturally make using company templates easier than any other way to make a presentation.

Any other important elements to presentations can also be found in your company slides library. Enabling employees to get on with creating a compliant presentation without having spoken to the whole office.

3. Share the Load (Frodo)

Ever had to hunt down a particular slide? Sending out some random emails to who you think may hold the file, followed up with radio silence until after you’ve actually finished the presentation is frustrating.

So frustrating in fact, that most employees would just rather research things quickly, and go along with subpar information.

But this whole circle doesn’t need to appear when a slide library is in use. With every employee uploading their presentations, perhaps for approval, or perhaps after the presentation for later team research, the entire team can simply reuse slides which have already been created .

This is especially useful for sales figures, quarterly updates, or project reporting. And ensures compliance, correct information, and saves time on finalizing a presentation.

What Problems Does a Slide Library Solve for Management

Slide library SlideCamp Presentation Management 02

Attempting to resolve each of these occurrences individually can be a nightmare. But our slidelibrary has been built to ensure management can sleep easy when it comes to presentations in the workplace. And even get the credit they deserve when reporting on their teams progress.

1. Presentation Management: Non-Compliance

Employees sending out the wrong message is usually seen as harmless human error. But it can turn more serious when consumers and clients notice, or when watchdogs and regulators become involved.

For management this may seem unavoidable, as mistakes will be made no matter what you do. Yet, with a presentation management strategy a.k.a. a slidelibrary, you r old blanket acceptance of compliance mistakes will become absurd.

Using a slide library allows your legal team to ensure the wording used in presentations is already in the templates. Whilst also enabling your marketing team to ensure that a company wide message is in all the presentations across the company.

2. Presentation Management: Permissioned Access

Confidentiality leaks are always a nightmare for management. Whether that results in a legal dispute or repetitional damage. Confidentiality of presentations should be important in any team. With the SlideCamp slidelibrary, managers can easily set up teams to ensure the right presentations are seen by the right people at the right time.

3. Presentation Management: Company-wide Updates

Business is versatile and ever changing. But never more so are mistakes made by employees than after they return from time off. Whether that’s maternity leave, annual leave, or just going home for the holidays. Every day spent away from the office means they’ve missed out on changes in the company.

Using a presentation platform means that changes are applied company wide to all templates instantly. This goes for figures, legal disclosures, staff changes and anything else which may crop up.

4. Presentation Management: Reporting

Reporting on the progress of your team can often be a daunting task when it comes to looking for evidence. Having to chase up team members to receive individual slides, or snippets of information isn’t anyone’s idea of a good time.

Yet, when using a slide library, you can access your whole teams presentations at a moments notice. Leaving reporting to become a much easier task in every step from the planning to execution.

5. Presentation Management: Responsibility

No matter the scale of a slip up. Whether that be a simple spelling error or completely missing the point of a new initiative, slidelibraries allow management to quickly view PowerPoint online. Getting to the of problems fast by tracking who presented what and when.

This can be especially useful when regarding interdepartmental management, during management changes, or when settling disputes between colleagues.

6. Presentation Management: Content Checks

A company presentation is usually given without having to go through a content check. But, there are important presentations which need to be given the go ahead by various departments. It’s vital these presentations contain the right data, legal statements, and design . But getting every department to sign off on the final version can be very complicated.

With a presentation management tool however, presentations can be uploaded and viewed by many departments online. When the presenter makes changes or replaces the file with an updated version, it also eliminates the risk of multiple PowerPoint versions floating around.

7. Presentation Management: Keep Data Up to Date

In a busy work environment, it’s very hard for management to keep employees motivated and up to speed with all the latest changes in the company. This is especially important for missed internal meetings, and in external presentations.

With a slide library, keeping everyone up to date becomes simpler. Any changes made to design, data, or wording can be updated directly in the slide library, without the need to worry if old data will be used.

How to Implement a Slide Library in Your Team

SlideCamp Slide Library

But with a slide library, there is no new fancy tech to learn. With simplicity and minimalist design at heart, there is no training, or even team meeting needed to figure out how it works.

But for managers, becoming the head of your company presentation account means you’ve got a few decisions to make before getting everyone on board.

Step by Step Guide to Slide Libraries

Step 1 – branding decisions.

Option 2: Branding is important, but we could do with some redesign. Send us your brand specifications, and we’ll design a slide library tailored to your needs.

Option 3: Branding isn’t important. I want to get started with a slide library right away.

Step 2 – Get in Touch with Us

This is also the time to ask us for a quick free presentation template redesign if you require one.

Step 3 – Invite your Team

Step 4 – creating presentations.

Once downloaded, just replace our text, data, and highlighted geographical locations with your own either in PowerPoint, or in the linked excel spreadsheet.

Step 5 – Uploading Presentations

Don’t forget to add a title, tags which could be useful when searching for this presentation in the future, and decide who should have access to this presentation.

Step 6 – View Presentations

Step 7 – update presentations.

Many account managers choose to upload two types of presentations:

Presentation outlines, which show in what order a presentation should be made, but does not hold much if any content.

To update a presentation outline, simply download the presentation, make the updated changes, and upload the new presentation. Be mindful to delete the old version, and content errors will be avoided.

Step 8 – Search PowerPoint Slides

Step 9 – present easy.

Continue to use SlideCamp to make presentations, and to upload PowerPoint files and templates.

If you have any questions, comment, or queries, you can always chat to us directly by using the bubble in the corner of your screen.

Essentially, implementing a slidelibrary to your management strategy can be means tested for free with minimal setting up, and no upfront costs.

How to Measure Success Using A Slide Library

What is a Slide Library SlideCamp presentation management

Which means playing around with various management tools results in hauling your whole team on board. And convincing them all to use a new tool efficiently can be hard work. Our slidelibrary has been created with one constant in mind: Make the Presentation Process Simple. Less effort to get presentations done means less time drafting emails, less time lost searching for information, and less time spent in PowerPoint. Which all equates to more time spent on actual projects at hand.

What employee wouldn’t want to finish up early? And what manager wouldn’t be impressed when they finish ahead of schedule?

How to Measure : Time Saving with a Slide Library

According to the IDC, over 45% of information workers are frustrated working with documents . As one of the most meaty attachments sent on a regular basis, PowerPoint files take up a large part of that frustration on a regular basis.

In addition to the frustration that employees experience, it ultimately results in diminished productiveness.

Using a presentation management system cuts out the process of sending presentations via email. Making it easy for different parties to simultaneously see the current document version on the SlideCamp platform.

We recommend creating an anonymous survey in your team on how long they spend completing the following tasks. It should be completed once before using a slidelibrary, in addition to after implementing a slidelibrary in your team:

  • How much time do you spend researching before giving a presentation?
  • Do you contact others for information needed in your presentation? If so, how many people do you contact on average?
  • How long do you spend creating a PowerPoint file (including design, template use, graphs, and further editing)
  • How long does it take to get approval from all interested parties on your finished presentation?
  • On average, how much time does it take to complete a presentation with all the previous steps involved?

Using these, or similar questions in your team will enable you to report on the time saving total of implementing a presentation management system. It will be a concrete statistic when calculating your own slidelibrary ROI.

How to Measure: Productivity Increases with a Slide Library

Ultimately, any measure of productivity is only accurate if measured appropriately. In every team that will require something slightly different.

In a sales department, the productivity increase will undoubtedly be measured in performance. However when implementing a slidelibrary to a department which is more inward focused, such as in accounting teams, productivity may become a little trickier to measure.

The Harvard Business Review wrote an esteemed article way back in 1988, only a year after PowerPoint first kicked off. It old us how to measure productivity effectively and in a way which provides value depending on your department, and your industry.

They value a multifactor perspective. Although this requires more management effort, it will result in an accurate measure of productivity changes in your team.

How to Measure: ROI on your Slide Library

It’s likely measuring ROI on any new addition to your corporate repertoire is done in a particular way in your business.

But perhaps you do have some freedom with measuring the ROI of presentation management. If so here are a few factors you could quantify to get an accurate figure of the benefits of presentation management.

  • Increased sales.
  • Expanded product/service deployment.
  • Greater return from other IT investments (e.g., ERP, portal).
  • Accelerated time to market.
  • Process efficiencies.
  • Reduced Web production costs.
  • Savings on paper/mailing costs.
  • Reduced human errors.

All in all, using a slide library gets your team moving moving faster. It creates an office environment where information for more than just presentations can be found fast. If you need to show a new employee the sustainability policy, or a potential client you’re GDPR compliant quickly, a presentation management system will be a lifesaver.

AIM OF THE PROJECT • A college library management is a project that manages and stores books information electronically according to students needs. The system helps both students and library manager to keep a constant track of all the books available in the library. • It allows both the admin and the student to search for the desired book. It becomes necessary for colleges to keep a continuous check on the books issued and returned and even calculate fine. • This task if carried out manually will be tedious and includes chances of mistakes. • These errors are avoided by allowing the system to keep track of information such as issue date, last date to return the book and even fine information and thus there is no need to keep manual track of this information which thereby avoids chances of mistakes. • Thus this system reduces manual work to a great extent allows smooth flow of library activities by removing chances of errors in the details.

OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT • This project system was highly recommended due to the rapid increase of computer related tools in the industry. • With this proposed system features and functions of the online book shop and the e-library that will be able to accommodate more reliably consistent and faster in providing a better service to the users.

EXISTING SYSTEM • Time and access can be obstacles to library research. • Readers must get to the library during library hours, which may not be convenient. They also may need to stay in the library for a long time to ensure they have exhausted all resources. • Some resources may not be available for checkout, which means the student must stay in the library to use them. • And those that do circulate may be checked out by others and unavailable to anyone else.

DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM • Lack of privacy • Risk in the management of the data. • Less Security • Low co-ordination between  • Less User-friendly • Accuracy not guaranteed • Not in reach of distant users. • There is no storage and automation if users have some enquiry.

PROPOSED SYSTEM • Proposed system is an automated Library Management System. Through our software user can add books, search books, renewal, update information, edit information, and return books in quick time. Our proposed system has the following advantages. • Developed a well-organized book issue and searching system. Produced a well-designed and functioning system in accordance to the needs and wants of the borrowers. • Minimized the task and the effort being performed by both the owners and borrowers. • Provided the school and the students a well-organize and well-presented reports. • . User friendly interface • . Fast access to database • . Less error • . More Storage Capacity • . Search facility • . Look and Feel Environment • . Quick transaction

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM • The system excludes the use of paper work by managing all the book information electronically. • Admin can keep updating the system by providing the new books arrival in system and their availability thus students need not to go to library for issuing purpose. • The system has books well organized and systematically arranged in different categories in the system so that user can easily search and find the book. • Thus, it saves human efforts and resources.

Library Management System

The Library Management System using the Laravel framework is a web based application that points in building up an automated Integrated library system to keep up all day by day work of the library. This undertaking has numerous highlights that are commonly not accessible in typical integrated library system, facilities like separate user interfaces for different users having different priorities. It also has a facility of admin login. Through this, the admin can monitor the whole system. In this system, users can see the list of books they have taken and its issue date, return date and also they can reserve the books online. The fine count is robotized with exactness. The application is intended to assist clients in maintaining and organizing the library. It is easy to use for both beginners and advanced users. It incorporates a recognizable, well thoroughly considered, and appealing UI joined with solid searching, insertion and reporting capacities. Generally, this task of our own is being created to help students as well as the staff to keep up the library in the most ideal manner conceivable and decrease human endeavors. See the presentations that hot healthcare startups used to raise millions from top VCs

  • Startups have raised billions on the promise of disrupting healthcare.
  • To win over investors, startups often present their businesses through a slide deck.
  • Here are the presentations obtained by Insider that healthcare startups have used to raise millions.

Insider Today

In the past few years, investors have bet billions on healthcare startups looking to disrupt the industry.

In 2022, that activity cooled off as the market stumbled and companies postponed their public debuts. The slowdown has persisted into 2023, with funding set to fall to the lowest level since 2019, according to Rock Health .

Winning over investors can be a long process, and it often involves a slide deck that lays out what the startup does, and where the company is heading.

Insider rounded up all the presentations we've published that healthcare startups have used to raise cash from investors.

Early on, startups sell investors on often newly tested ideas

When startup founders pitch investors ahead of a seed or Series A round, they haven't gotten far off the ground.

Presentations can be helpful at laying out the how they plan to take on a particular business.

For instance, a dad used this presentation to raise millions to give kids with ADHD and autism the same kind of therapy that helped his son.

And check out the 13-slide presentation heart-health startup Miga Health used to raise $12 million in seed funding .

Others can use the presentations to share their new approaches. Here's the presentation the former Louisiana health chief used to raise $15 million for her approach to providing care for families at home .

They can also show how a startup might stand out in a competitive field.  Here's the 12-slide presentation Angle Health, a health-insurance startup, used to land $58 million after its public competitors tumbled .

And Brightside used this presentation to break through a crowded field of mental health startups and convince VCs to invest $24 million.

In 2023, some startups have raised fresh early-stage funds to back different approaches they're trying. For instance, Inato used this 16-slide presentation to raise $20 million after ditching its old product to solve a $50 billion problem for Big Pharma .

You can see more presentations below.

By Series B, startups are looking for a chance to grow big

By their Series B rounds, startups are raising higher sums at higher valuations. They're often still early into their existence and are looking for ways to get big.

Health-data startup Carta Healthcare raised $25 million as it navigates a path to profitability.

And Devoted Health raised $300 million at a $1.8 billion valuation in 2018 before it had signed on any customers.

Women's healthcare startup Tia used this 30-slide presentation in 2021 to raise $100 million one year after losing all its revenue 'overnight' because of COVID-19. Tia planned to use the funding to expand its in-person clinics in new locations.

And even amid the 2022 market downturn, Folx Health raised raise $30 million to provide more telehealth options for LGBTQ+ patients with this 17-slide presentation .

Tomorrow Health, a home-care startup, used this 12-slide presentation to raise $60 million in Series B funding . It's backed by investors including Andreessen Horowitz.

Meanwhile tech startup Stellar Health raised $60 million from General Atlantic with this presentation with its approach of rewarding doctors for providing better care.

Here is the 12-slide presentation two academics used to sell investors on their virtual cognitive-testing startup

Alphabet's VC arm just sank $140 million into a startup that wants to unseat dialysis giants like DaVita. We got the pitch deck that convinced CapitalG to back Strive Health.

Late-stage rounds can give startups the fuel to scale or gear up for a public debut

The presentations used to secure later rounds of funding can be used to show investors how far the startup's come, and what's ahead.

Often, the investors start to look different as well, and startups can find themselves pitching asset managers or industry incumbents, like health insurers.

For instance, Tiger Global and Blackstone backed decentralized trials startup Medable in its Series D .

Tiger Global — alongside health insurer Humana — also backed the at-home healthcare startup Dispatch Health in its Series D .

And hot mental-health startup NOCD won over investors including Cigna Ventures in January with this presentation .

The later-stage rounds can signal that a company is on the verge of making a major change. In 2023, 98point6 sold its virtual-care service and raised $30.7 million for its pivot to selling software using this pitch deck .

Meanwhile, Omada Health used this presentation to raise $192 million as it gears up for an IPO . Digital health startup Tebra similarly used this 23-slide presentation to raise $72 million as it prepares to go public .

Insurer Centene has backed some later-stage rounds, including Hazel Health's Series C and Vida Health's $110 million round. The upstart shared the presentation that helped it raise the funds toward a new vision for the hardest kind of healthcare.

The presentations at this stage can help land startups like Aledade high valuations. Aledade raised $100 million in a round that valued the company at $2.1 billion .

Sometimes, if the founder is well-known, companies might even get unsolicited funding. This happened to Glen Tullman's new startup Transcarent, which raised a $200 million Series C round that valued the company at $1.62 billion.

Here's the 12-slide presentation that convinced Oak HC/FT and Tiger to bet on a virtual-reality startup to train surgeons

Use Slide Libraries to share and reuse PowerPoint slides

In PowerPoint, Publish means storing and managing slides in a shared location.

You can manage and reuse individual PowerPoint slides by storing them in a Slide Library on a server running Office SharePoint Server 2007 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.

You and your colleagues that have access to the Slide Library can add slides to the library, insert slides from the library into a presentation, make changes to the slides in the library, track changes that have been made to a slide, and locate the latest version of a slide.

Important:

To store, share, and reuse slides in a Slide Library, your computer must be running Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, PowerPoint 2010, or PowerPoint 2013, and it must be connected to a server running Office SharePoint Server 2007 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. If you do not know whether your computer is connected to SharePoint Server, contact your server administrator.

To add one or more slides from a different presentation file located on your computer or a network share, see Reuse slides from another presentation file .

Slide libraries were introduced in Microsoft Office 2007 to allow folks to share slides. Now Office has co-authoring features that serve as an alternative to slide libraries. If you want to share slides now, we recommend that you use the sharing and co-authoring features in PowerPoint to do so.

Slide libraries are a legacy feature of SharePoint. SharePoint 2016 can't make a slide library.

Do you miss the Slide Libraries that PowerPoint used to have?

If this is a feature you’d like to revive, please send us your feedback to help us prioritize new features in future updates. See How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office? for more information.
