Assignment: Ada , also known as Ada the Spy in some regions, is a non-canon minigame featured in Resident Evil 4 unlocked after completing the game.

  • 2.1 Loadout
  • 2.2 Plaga Sample locations
  • 3.1 Yellow Herbs

The minigame's plot involves Ada collecting a number of plaga samples as ordered by Albert Wesker (as opposed to collecting the single control plaga sample like in the main game). Ada does so and then reports back to Wesker that the mission was completed. She also states that Krauser was killed despite the implication that he had actually survived.

Although the plot is non-canon, it is interesting to note the ending scene has one of the biggest allusions to Resident Evil 5 in that Albert Wesker talks about "Significant changes in our world".

Gameplay [ ]

Ada wears a unique costume in the minigame which is a military-style uniform as opposed to her red dress as in the main game.

The game begins at the beginning of the island at Wharf A and ends at the Communications tower . The item layout on the map has been reworked for the minigame and pesetas and treasures are not found or used at all. The player must find the five samples of the Las Plagas parasite which are marked on the player's map. The only enemies featured are Ganado militia , Gatling Men , and Jack Krauser as the "boss" in the final area the player must defeat to get the last Plaga Sample.

The minigame is relatively short and is meant to be completed in one play-through as there are no save points during it. Ada starts the game with 6 & 2/4 Bars of health and has a slightly faster movement speed than Leon. The Plaga Samples Ada must collect take up space in the inventory instead of the Keys & Treasures menu.

Loadout [ ]

Ada begins the game with a set loadout with the default size case. In the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and the 2007 PC versions, she doesn't have a knife. In all other releases, she does. There are no other weapons to find besides Hand Grenades and ammo and the Merchant does not appear at all. Ada has the following items and firearms with the following stats;

  • Handgun Ammo x30
  • TMP Ammo x50
  • Rifle Ammo x5
  • Hand Grenade
  • First Aid Spray
  • Scope (semi-auto rifle)
Weapon Firing Power Firing Speed Reload Speed Capacity
Lv:6/6 (1.9) Lv:3/3 (0.33) Lv:2/3 (1.47) Lv:4/6 (20)
Lv:6/6 (1.2) Lv:1/1 (0.10) Lv:2/3 (1.93) Lv:3/6 (100)
Lv:6/6 (15.0) Lv:1/1 (1.43) Lv:2/3 (1.90) Lv:2/6 (12)

Plaga Sample locations [ ]

"

Each Plaga Sample takes up 1x2 spaces of inventory. Due to them being mandatory in order to complete the scenario Plaga Samples are the only items in the game that cannot be discarded after putting them in the Attache Case.

Area Location
In the same place where the was in the main game.
Held by a corpse in the larger room.
In the very back of the holding room.
In the very center of the lab area with all the shelves.
Dropped by Krauser after defeating him.

Strategy [ ]

  • In the GameCube and PlayStation2 versions, Ada has no knife, so try and conserve ammo and, to open multiple crates, line them up and shoot them in one bullet using the Punisher.
  • Try to not get carried away with the Punisher's high rate of fire.
  • Single-fire the TMP when possible to conserve ammo.
  • Using The TMP full-auto is best saved to be used against shielded militia in close range, or multiple enemies, due to its high fire rate and high bullet consumption.
  • Ada's melee attacks, Fan Kick and Back Kick, are particularly useful, due to your lack of a knife, and need to conserve ammo.
  • Try to avoid Gatling Men whenever possible. They're relatively easy to flank in most presented situations, and not worth wasting ammo over, unless you are in dire need of a First Aid Spray or a Hand Grenade .
  • Krauser is really easy to beat if you do this correctly. When he appears, dodge his attacks and run to the door you originally came from. Then equip your sniper rifle. Reenter the room where Krauser is. He will charge at you from the far end of the walkway, using his plaga arm as a shield. Try and snipe his knees before he reaches you. if you do, when he staggers, try and shoot either his head or upper chest. Repeat that until he reaches you. Just before he reaches you, re-enter that door again, reload and re-enter Krauser's room again. He spawns at the very end of the catwalk. Repeat what's above until he's dead. Grenades are more risky, due to their range, but also work well too if you can time it right. Sustained TMP fire at his knees is also effective. On the Wii, Xbox Live and PSN versions, do this same tactic, but try knifing him when he drops to his knee. This is very useful in speed running, as it only takes a few slashes to defeat him.
  • Discard the Scope for the Semi-Auto Sniper since it is basically useless, this might help when collecting Plaga Samples since you need them in your Attache Case.
  • After the fight with Krauser, no more enemies appear. Anything other than the first four Plaga samples may be discarded to make space in the inventory for the final sample.

Yellow Herbs [ ]

Due to Ada's low health, Yellow Herbs are vital in order to stay alive and take more hits. There are seven in the minigame. Collecting them all raises Ada's max health from 6 & 1/2Bars to 8 1/4 Bars.

Area Location
Wharf A In a small box on top of the cliff reached by using the "CLIMB UP" command in the beginning of the area.
Wharf A In the room that Gatling Man comes out of, behind the sand bags.
After going up the ladder, in the cave with the grenade chest in it, by the crack in the wall where you can see the grenade chest.
Autopsy Room Behind a glass protected shelf.
Confinement room After the hallway in the actual room, in the right-hand corner of the room.
In the small room at the end of the hall on the desk.
Culture room In the back of the lab area with all the shelves beside a Green Herb and a Red Herb.

Results [ ]

There is no formal results screen displayed at the end of Assignment: Ada . However, a unique credits sequence plays consisting of cutscenes from the main game but with Leon in his Special 1 costume and Ada in her costume from The Mercenaries minigame (The R.P.D uniform and Resident Evil 2 dress respectively).

In the Gamecube version, beating the minigame will unlock the Chicago Typewriter for the main game, in all subsequent releases, however, the weapon unlocks for use in Separate Ways instead.

Assignment Ada , also known as Ada the Spy in some regions, is a short mission that is unlocked after completing the game once. In this game, Ada Wong must infiltrate the Island Base and recover 5 Plaga Samples. The samples must fit into her small Attache Case along with her Punisher, TMP, and Semi-Auto Rifle, so item management is a must. The game must be beaten in one complete run, as there is no saving. In all versions prior to the Wii version, Ada has no Knife, so the difficulty is even greater. She must fire bullets to break crates and barrels to obtain items so, do not worry about killing every single enemy and proceed to the next area as soon as possible.

  • 1 Storming the Beach
  • 2 Inside the Base
  • 3 The Lone Guard
  • 4 Chicago Typewriter

Storming the Beach [ edit ]

When infiltrating the beach area, be careful about shooting enemies of edges into the water, or else you may run short on ammo. After all the enemies are dead, collect the items around the area. Climb the ladder at the rear entrance and crawl through the vent duct to get inside the Base.

Inside the Base [ edit ]

Once inside check your in-game map. The locations of the Plaga Samples are marked with treasure icons on the map. Find them and kill the enemies guarding them. In the Research Lab, collect the Plaga Sample and then defend yourself from the enemies that lock-down the room. To get out, operate the security console to unlock the door.

The Lone Guard [ edit ]

At the Communications Tower you will have to defeat Krauser to obtain the final Plaga Sample. Use your remaining Hand Grenades and the TMP to defeat him. Once he's taken care of ride the lift to the top of the Tower and call a Chopper to pick up Ada.

Chicago Typewriter [ edit ]

Completing the mission allows you to purchase the Chicago Typewriter , a Tommy Gun with unlimited ammo, in a completed file of the main game (GameCube) or Separate Ways (all other versions). The gun does come with a high price at 1 million Pesetas to be exact in the main game and 300,000 in Separate Ways.

Resident Evil 4 DLC: Separate Ways, Assignment Ada & more

Ada Wong in RE4 remake

The original Resident Evil 4 featured two adventures called Separate Ways and Assignment Ada where you could play as Ada Wong, but will the Resident Evil 4 remake feature either as DLC?

Ada Wong is back in the Resident Evil 4 remake and her role is largely the same, although her ending is expanded. In the original game, Ada had her own small mission called Assignment Ada that unlocked after the main campaign was completed. This was just a short level in which Ada needed to make it from one side of RE4’s Island fort to another, battling enemies and bosses along the way.

When RE4 was re-released on PS2, Xbox, and PC, a second mission for Ada was added to the game , one that expanded her role and explained what Ada was doing while Leon was saving Ashley. This was called Separate Ways and was considerably longer and more detailed than Assignment Ada. It was also canon and emulated Leon’s campaign in many ways.

The question is, will Assignment Ada and Separate Ways return in the Resident Evil 4 remake as DLC?

Ada Wong inSeparate Ways

Does RE4 Separate Ways have a release date?

While Ada’s campaign wasn’t included in the base game of Resident Evil 4, Separate Ways will be released on September 21, 2023 , on all platforms. So far, there’s been no word on if Separate ways will be a free or paid DLC.

The original Separate Ways wasn’t included in the original Resident Evil 4 when it was first released on the GameCube, as the mission was only added to the game in later versions. Therefore, it makes sense for the mission to be released as DLC.

As in the original RE4, the church tower in the village collapses at a crucial point in the game – seemingly for no reason. Those who played Separate Ways will remember that it was Ada who caused this to aid Leon from afar, and therefore, Ada is still following her Separate Ways story in the RE4 remake, which gave some fans a clue that the mode was coming.

While Separate Ways has been confirmed by Capcom to be Resident Evil 4 DLC. There’s been nothing confirmed about Assignment Ada, however, Separate Ways replaces that mission in many ways, so it makes sense for only that larger content to be included as RE4 DLC.

Doom: The Dark Ages Might Be The Most Metal Thing I've Ever Seen

Black myth: wukong won't have a disc when it launches physically in august, minecraft: 10 mods we wish would be updated.

Capcom is known for packing its games with numerous unlocks, giving players further incentive to keep on playing after the credits roll for the first time. 2005's Resident Evil 4 is no different. and there are plenty of goodies to unlock for further playthroughs.

Related: Quotes In Resident Evil 4 That Will Make You Think It's A Bad Comedy

The following list explains how to unlock all of them. A few of them are low-hanging fruit earned by simply completing the campaign for the first time, while others require a little more work. Some might take you a while, but it is all bliss when you are playing one of the best video games ever made.

Updated On March 31, 2023, by Jason Wojnar: Even though 2023 gave us a remake of the classic 2005 horror game, it is still likely that you'll be coming back to the original for years to come. That's no dig against the new game though. Both are different enough to value on their own and the original still plays so great that it is worth going through both games, even back to back. If you want to go all the way and unlock everything in the original game, then this list has you covered. The story is pretty beefy by itself, but unlocking everything will significantly extend your time with Resident Evil 4.

10 The Punisher - Shoot All The Medallions

Punisher Resident Evil 4 Stats

This is the only unlock you can get before beating the game. A file in the village details a small game the merchant has set up for you. Shoot at least ten blue medallions hanging in the environment to unlock the Punisher.

It is not super powerful, but bullets go through enemies. We recommend replacing the Handgun with it until you gain access to the Red9, which should become your main pistol.

9 Extra Game Modes - Beat The Game Once

Mercenaries Resident Evil 4 main menu

Resident Evil 4 includes three other game modes in addition to the main campaign; Separate Ways, Assignment Ada, and The Mercenaries. The first two put you into Ada Wong's shoes, while the third is a score-based minigame where you must destroy as many enemies as possible and survive until the time runs out.

In order to play any of these, you must beat the game once , which takes between 12 and sixteen hours . Most further unlocks involve these modes. Beating the game also unlocks the ability to watch all the cutscenes.

8 Matilda - Beat The Game Once

Resident Evil 4 matilda stats

The Matilda uses ammo fast, which is not always ideal for a pistol. Still, if you wish to utilize this weapon, you have to beat the game and then you will be able to purchase it from the Merchant during the next playthrough.

Related: Things That Make No Sense In Resident Evil 4

The weapon still costs 70,000 pts, so be sure to have a solid amount of money saved if you want to hit the ground running with it in the new game.

7 Handcannon - Five Star Every Stage With Every Character In The Mercenaries

Handcannon RE 4 unlock screen

Achieve four stars in a stage once to unlock a new character in this mode. The unlocking is not done here, however. Earn five stars in every Mercenaries Mode stage with all the characters to unlock a powerful magnum called the Handcannon.

After doing this, it is a free pickup from the merchant . Buying all the upgrades still costs around 790,000 pts. It is by far the most powerful gun in the game, with the final power measured at 99.9.

6 Infinite Rocket Launcher - Beat The Game Once

Infinite Rocket Launcher unlock screen

Most Resident Evil games have a Rocket Launcher . Usually, a friendly supporting character will throw one down to the protagonist in order to even the odds with the last boss.

After beating Resident Evil 4 for the first time, you can buy a Rocket Launcher with infinite ammunition. However, it still costs one million pts, so be prepared to save up some money if you want it. Every other Rocket Launcher is a single-use weapon.

5 Chicago Typewriter - Beat Assignment Ada

Leon with the Chicago Typewriter RE4

Don't be fooled by this weapon's name. You definitely won't be punching letters into paper with the Chicago Typewriter. Instead, you'll be punching holes into enemies with bullets.

Unlocking this weapon is as simple as beating Assignment Ada , the non-canon bonus mode starring Ada Wong. This small campaign is actually quite difficult, so be prepared for a challenging gauntlet. While the weapon costs a million pts, it has infinite ammo and never has to reload.

4 Special Costume Set 1 - Beat The Game Once

Resident evil 4 leon RCPD outfit

It is not a Resident Evil game without special costumes. There are two sets of outfits you can unlock. The first set, which puts Ashley into a pop star outfit and Leon into his old RCPD digs, is unlocked by beating the game for the first time .

These are purely aesthetic changes. Unfortunately, the cutscenes are pre-rendered, so the outfits do not show in most cinematics.

3 Ada's Report - Beat Each Chapter In Separate Ways

Resident Evil 4 ada kicking ganado

Separate Ways is a canon side story that follows Ada Wong through the events of Resident Evil 4. As such, you run into Leon Kennedy a few times throughout the short journey.

RELATED: Best Ada Wong Outfits

There are several unlocks for going through the whole thing, but you also get little narrative dumps after each chapter called Ada's Reports. They tell Ada's side of the story while also giving a clearer view of the story overall. Separate Ways is essential to understanding the whole narrative, though it is not available in the original GameCube release.

2 P.R.L. 412 - Beat Professional Mode

Resident Evil 4 P.R.L. 412 unlock screen

Professional mode is available after beating the game once . This difficulty setting is way harder than the base difficulty but fortunately comes with its own reward for beating it.

The P.R.L. 412 takes up a lot of space in the inventory, but it is also incredibly powerful, eliminating the need for most other weapons. Of course, once you have beaten Professional difficulty you have done pretty much everything there is to do in Resident Evil 4.

1 Special Costume Set 2 - Beat Separate Ways

Resident evil 4 Playing as Ashley in armor

Beat Separate Ways to unlock another set of costumes for Leon and Ashley . In this one, Leon looks like he is a gangster from the 1930s, the perfect compliment to the Chicago Typewriter. Ashley comes in a suit of armor, making her invincible.

Since many bemoan having to escort the president's daughter, the suit of armor is a welcome change, even if it does look silly. Resident Evil is always a little silly, though , so it does not feel too incongruous.

Originally posted by BridgetFisher : Originally posted by Max Power : "I started pro from a cleared game doesnt that count?" How is that even possible? You will have to clear the game once, and basically on a 'new game+' you're able to buy that weapon. If the Ashley is wearing a knight armor suit, that's because you're wearing the gangster suit (Special 2), which means it's not bugged.

Originally posted by Zander : Unlockable weapons (Infinity Rocket Launcher, PRL 412, Chicago Typewriter, Handcannon) can only be acquired when you load a "Cleared Game" save which starts the game over with your gear from your last play through. Unlocking Professional difficulty is a system save (Settings, what you've unlocked, etc.), not a game save. When you started your first Professional difficulty play through, you could not have loaded a Cleared Game save since you haven't cleared Professional yet. In short, you won't have access to the Typewriter in Professional until you beat Professional at least once. You can, however, load your Normal "Cleared Game" and get it if you want to play with it right now. Good luck on Pro though.

How do I kill Krauser in Assingment Ada?

Resident evil 4, playstation 2 android gamecube pc wii zeebo meta quest nintendo switch pc playstation 3 playstation 4 xbox 360 xbox one, resident evil 4 (playstation 2).

  • At the end of Assingment Ada where you have to fight Krauser how the hell do you kill him? I've read that I can shoot out his knees, but whenever I get a shot lined up he dashes towards me and kicks my ass. I hate that you don't have a knife, since that made the Krauser fights so much easier. Any tips? Crizu_Valkyrie - 15 years ago - report

  • When you exit the door and come back, he'll reappear on the opposite side. (How convenient for us =D) Just use your sniper to whoop on him. A number of shots to the head should bring him down. If not, aim for his legs and he'll stumble, if you dont want to take the risk, then take the oppurtunity to run to the other side and snipe him. rinse and repeat. Jae132 - 15 years ago - report 5   0
  • First, when you go into the room Krauser appears, exit through the door you just came from and come back again to where Krauser appeared (this will make him be considerably farther then before). From this distance you can shoot him twice with the rifle, then do the exiting/reentering thingy again (the damage you did previously won't desappear) and keep at it! Resuming: -Enter the Room Krauser appears (cutscene); -Get the hell out of there through the door you just used; -Go back again to Krauser's place; -Shoot him twice quickly with the sniper rifle; -Exit through the door you used previously; -Keep doing the above 3 itens <3 Daguerrera - 15 years ago - report 5   3
  • Just use the sniper rifle when hes far away, and every time he gets close go out the door and come back, after that if you are out of ammo just keep running around and aim for the legs and then face... REexpert44 - 15 years ago - report 1   0
  • He only kicks you if he's kind of close to you. Wait for him to run up close to you, but keep moving backwards. If you get a prompt be sure to do it. If you don't he'll most likely double kick the air, and that's when you get one or two perfect headshots in. If you want you can shoot his legs but his fast movement will make that hard. If you shoot the legs enough he'll fall to the ground and give you time to fire in 1-3 headshots if you're quick enough. Those headshots I'm talking about would be with the pistol. When you're out of space (he surrounds you near that elevator thing or the door), try to run past him while he is dashing at you. Most likely he'll try to kick you but he'll miss. That is if you're not hurt, because from yellow HP to below it seems like you're slower and you can't get past him quick enough to be unharmed. Or you can do what the other guy said and go out the site and enter back him and snipe while he's running at you. random_dudley2 - 15 years ago - report 1   1
  • When you exit the door and come back, he'll reappear on the opposite side. Snipe his legs and then his head .
