Verizon business phone plans: What are they and are they worth it?

If you're on the search for Verizon business phone plans, here's a look at what the carrier offers

Verizon business phone plans

When it comes to business phone plans, Verizon stands out as one of the best options around. Filled with features, backed by some excellent coverage and heavy on the discounts for added lines, there's a lot to like about what Verizon has to offer.

As with standard Verizon phone plans , the best Verizon business phone plans won't be the cheapest option. But if you're looking to stack up on lines, you could end up with some pretty affordable prices for your business.

Verizon keeps things simple, offering just three cell phone plans in its business section. All three options offer unlimited data, calls and texts; the more you pay, the more features that get chucked in.

These extras include security features, mobile hotspots, more advanced 5G and priority data. Verizon also offers business phone deals and 5G internet service. In some cases, Verizon business phone plans can also get you discounts on tablets and phones when you sign up for different plans.

What Verizon business phone plans are available?

The choice in Verizon business phone plans is pretty simple: You can choose between three options, all with unlimited data — Unlimited Start, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Pro. You can stack the plans up for added discounts with the price falling by $5 per line the more you add.

Image

Verizon Business Unlimited Start Verizon's cheapest business plan, the Unlimited Start offer, features unlimited calls, texts and data with 5G nationwide and 4G LTE. While you do get unlimited calls, texts and data, the plan is otherwise pretty limited. A Call Filter is included for screening potential spam), but you won't get mobile hotspot data or access to Verizon's faster Ultra Wideband 5G network.

Verizon Business Unlimited Plus Jumping up in cost, the Unlimited Plus plan sits in the middle of the Verizon business phone plan offerings, blending features and affordability. You'll get the same basics as the above plan — unlimited calls, texts and data — but you'll also get 60GB of premium network access, giving you priority when there is congestion. You'll also get a unlimited mobile hotspot, access to Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband and, enhanced security features with Verizon's Business Mobile Secure .

Verizon Business Unlimited Pro

Verizon Business Unlimited Pro Finally, Verizon's most expensive business plan — the Unlimited Pro. This plan, just like the two above, includes unlimited calls, texts and data, but it brings your premium data up to 120GB. Other than that, this is almost identical to the Plus plan above with the only other difference being that you can also get 50% off Business Unlimited Pro Tablet plans.

Why choose Verizon?

Verizon business phone plans

As the biggest carrier in the U.S., Verizon has the infrastructure, speeds and connections to offer impressive wireless performance. It takes the number 2 spot in our best phone carriers guide and for good reason.

While Verizon has some pretty pricey plans, that's in part because Verizon offerings tend to be packed full of features across all of its plans, including its business options.

Through our tests, Verizon has come out on top for LTE speeds and its Ultra Wideband 5G connections reach more than 80 cities, capable of reaching 1 Gbps download speeds. Verizon's nationwide 5G network isn't that fast, but it does bring coverage to 230 million people.

Among the features included with Verizon business phone plans are Call Filters, enhanced security features and the possibility of additional plans for devices and internet service.

Which other carriers offer business plans?

While Verizon does have some of the best business plans around, it isn't the only provider catering to businesses. The other two major wireless services and many MVNOs offer business plans in some form, some focusing on affordability and others on features.

Like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile put their priority on feature-filled business plans...at a high cost. With unlimited data, add-ons and a host of features around data prioritization, these are the options if you've got a bit more budget in your business.

Alternatively, if you're looking for something more affordable, a number of MVNOs offer plans that will work well for a business. Mint Mobile for example is one of the cheapest providers in the US and while it doesn't offer specific business discounts, it will likely be the cheapest option for smaller businesses; just don't expect discounts on multiple lines like you'd find with Verizon business phone plans.

Can I keep my current phone number?

If the number can be ported over, Verizon will gladly transfer a new member’s existing phone number to their new phone. Ask a customer service representative for more info.

Can I use the phone I have already?

To access the more than 30 features Business Digital Voice offers, you must have an IP phone. An analog converter is required if you wish to keep your own equipment.

How do I set up a business phone line at my new location?

Good news: many locations are ready for Fios. You can call to find out what products are available to you, along with speeds and pricing.

Have your information at the ready.

Before calling, be sure to write down your phone number and business address so your representative can help find the best option for your location.

Bundling is for a business that doesn’t slow down.

Bundling is about more than saving money. If you run a business, your time is valuable—every second counts. That’s why Verizon business bundles give you the best value possible for your needs. When you bundle your business’s TV, internet, and phone services into one single bill, your life becomes simpler and your days and business transactions run smoother.

You’ll be able to give your customers the experience they deserve without worrying about paying multiple bills. In the world of business, you can gain the ultimate competitive edge by being able to devote your complete time and attention to customers and taking care of operational needs by bundling. What’s more, you get the best products Verizon has to offer: Business Digital Voice, Fios internet, and Fios TV, all at the fastest speeds available. It pays in many different ways to bundle.

Check out Verizon Business Bundles

Maintain continuity within the cloud..

A VoIP-based phone system operates within a cloud service, running through the internet rather than being confined to your local computer. The advantages? Flexibility and peace of mind. If you were to lose power during a phone call with a customer, the cloud allows you to route that call to another number or even to your cell phone. Think of it as your own disaster recovery system.

Additionally, you can manage calls anywhere there is an internet connection by using the Verizon app and online dashboard. Though Verizon business phone plans don’t include cell phones, with business VoIP you’ll be able to forward calls that come in to your desk phone to your smartphone. You can’t put a price on the security of knowing you can keep your business running and take care of your customers’ needs when unavoidable situations come up.

Fixed lines mean business.

According to TechTarget, when it comes to phone lines the current trend has been leaning toward fixed-mobile substitutions, meaning many users are getting rid of landlines and opting for cell phones as their sole means of voice communication. This is evident in businesses as well, and while going wireless might be a good option for startups, it may imply that you’re merely a seasonal or temporary company.

A fixed line sends the message to customers that your business is established and lucrative enough to hold its own within the industry. It might also be to your advantage to consider a toll-free number. Reasonably priced, going toll-free could make your customers feel that you are invested in those who are out of your area.

Frequently asked questions, what equipment is required for business digital voice.

To be compatible for Business Digital Voice, you will need IP phones that work over an internet connection. These phones provide high quality calls and allow you to manage some of your features straight from your phone. A variety of IP phones are available through Verizon starting at $85.00 to best fit your business needs. Currently, we do not allow customers to provide their own VoIP equipment for installation.

If purchasing IP phones isn’t for you, you can purchase an Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) starting at $85.00 that can be used with two telephones. Simply plug your traditional analog phone(s) into the adapter to run over IP. Note: IP phones cannot be plugged into an ATA.

Image of an Analog Terminal Adapter, or ATA.

Do my credit card, fax, or alarm lines work through Business Digital Voice?

You must have a Business Digital Voice line and Analog converter (ATA) in order to use a fax machine. Verizon Fios customers are able to fax an unlimited number of pages on their Business Digital Voice line. Non-Fios customers can fax up to five pages without issue, but any more than that is not recommended. There is no guarantee that your fax machine will work on a VoIP line. An ATA does not support PBX and Key Systems.

Business Digital Voice does not support alarm, fire, credit card, elevator, or security lines—you must purchase an additional copper telephone line for these services.

Do you offer any type of customer support?

Yes! Verizon Business Customer Service is available to help with all your Verizon Wireless business needs. Visit our Customer Service page to get in touch with a customer service specialist.

Verizon also offers a service protection plan that provides diagnostics and repair for jacks, outlets and wiring for Verizon broadband, phone, and Fios TV products. Your call gets priority routing for faster, easier customer service and satisfaction. This service requires a Verizon internet connection.

Verizon’s Small Business Digital Ready program reaches 300K businesses with free, online resources

Small Business Digital Ready - Reaching 300K Businesses Since 2021

NEW YORK - Verizon’s Small Business Digital Ready Program, a free resource for small businesses to access over 50 courses, expert-led workshops, in-person and virtual networking and incentives, such as grants, celebrates today having reached 300,000 businesses across the US. This milestone marks critical progress towards Verizon’s goal to reach 1 million small businesses by 2030.

Of the 300,000 businesses Small Business Digital Ready has reached, 51% are women-owned, 62% are Black-owned or Hispanic-owned businesses, and 40% have been in business for 2 years or less - often the most precarious time for new small businesses.

Active users of Small Business Digital Ready, defined as those who have completed at least two resources on the platform this year, are also eligible to apply for the program’s national $10K grants, which are awarded to select applicants. The latest national grant cycle is now open until June 28, 2024 at 11:59pm PT.

Rose Stuckey Kirk, Verizon’s Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, said, “Verizon is leveraging its technology and innovation to promote economic empowerment and enable communities to thrive through Small Business Digital Ready. This program is part of our responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, which has an ambitious goal to support 1 million small businesses by 2030, and today we are excited to celebrate our significant milestone.

"It's critical that we've reached 300,000 businesses, but it’s important to say that that’s not all we have done. Small businesses that use Digital Ready are reporting real value. In fact, 77% of respondents to a Small Business Digital Ready survey** said that the platform had some effect on increasing their revenue or profitability, and 78% said the platform had an effect on increasing customers. When small businesses thrive, their communities thrive."

Verizon Small Business Digital Ready  provides personalized tools and resources in partnership with Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and Next Street. Popular courses include building a brand, building a communications strategy, financing your business and cybersecurity.

The platform also has a dedicated Spanish-language site, with courses exclusively in Spanish. Verizon Business learned from its 2024 Latino Small Business Survey that 82% of Latino small business owners surveyed are currently looking for external support to adapt to changing customer needs. They also continue seeking support in other areas, such as finance, cybersecurity, and marketing, to name a few.

Small Business Digital Ready is part of Citizen Verizon, the company’s responsible business plan for economic, environmental and social advancement. Citizen Verizon empowers Verizon to deliver on its mission to move the world forward through action by expanding digital access and resources, protecting the climate, and ensuring people have the skills needed for in-demand jobs. Through Citizen Verizon, and the key pillars of Digital Inclusion, Climate Protection and Human Prosperity, the company's responsible business goals include providing 10 million youths with digital skills training by 2030, supporting 1 million small businesses with resources to help them thrive in the digital economy by 2030, achieving net zero emissions in its operations by 2035, and preparing 500,000 individuals for jobs of the future by 2030. How to transfer a number to verizon wireless.

You can pick the option that works best for you

If you're considering switching to Verizon Wireless, you don't need a Verizon number to use its mobile service. You might have transferred your number before and kept it with you as you switched carriers over the years. You can still transfer your old number with a few simple steps if you have a compatible Android-based Verizon phone . Depending on your preference, there are various methods you can use to transfer a number. This guide covers the ways to transfer your existing phone number so that you can use it on a Verizon smartphone.

What are the requirements before transferring your number to Verizon?

Transferring from one wireless carrier to another while keeping your current phone number can be a big deal. You want to ensure everything goes smoothly before jumping to Verizon. Otherwise, something could go wrong or prevent you from switching. There are also a few things to note to avoid issues when moving to a new wireless carrier. In the section below, we highlight the common situations you might encounter when switching to Verizon from your current carrier.

Verizon Wireless: Everything you need to know

Here's what to consider before transferring your mobile number to the Verizon network:

  • You need a device that is unlocked or can be unlocked . When buying a phone, you typically have two options: locked carrier phones or unlocked phones that can be used on any carrier. If you have a carrier phone, you'll request it be unlocked so that you can bring your phone over to Verizon during the transfer process. Otherwise, you must purchase a new phone from Verizon.
  • The number you want to transfer must be active and in good standing . To ensure a smooth transfer process, the phone number you wish to transfer must be active and not on the ban list.
  • There may be early termination fees (ETFs) from your current carrier . Depending on what deals you are locked into, you may have ETFs when leaving your current carrier. Before leaving, check your plan details or call your carrier's customer service number to double-check if they will charge you any ETFs.
  • Ensure your current phone is paid off in full . To avoid extra phone charges from your current carrier, the phone you want to bring to Verizon must be paid off. After it's unlocked and paid off, you're ready to move forward with the transfer.
  • When switching carriers, you must be the primary account holder . When setting up a new account and transferring your phone number to Verizon, you need access to the account details from your current carrier. This might include the account PIN. As the account owner, you must provide the appropriate information and initiate the transfer process with Verizon.
  • Keep your current phone plan active until the transfer process is completed . Transferring your current phone number to Verizon can take a few business days, but it usually takes 24 hours. Wait until the transfer process is complete before closing the account of your previous wireless carrier.

How to manually transfer your number to Verizon Wireless

Some preparations are involved before porting your number to Verizon, such as getting a number transfer PIN. However, the rest after that is straightforward. The sections below show how to transfer your old number to a new Verizon account.

Transfer your number to Verizon by using your current phone

If you want to bring your own device, it must be unlocked before using it on Verizon. If your device is unlocked, here's how to transfer your number to Verizon while keeping your old device:

  • Request a number transfer PIN from your current wireless carrier. You can do this from your account settings on your current wireless carrier account. You can also call customer service and ask them to help you with that part.
  • Go to the Bring your own device Verizon website on any device.
  • Select the Join Verizon button to start the number porting process.
  • Choose the Smartphone option as the device you want to bring.
  • Press the Continue button.
  • In the Make and model box, type your device's name, then select it from the pop-up menu.
  • Select one of the options in the Where did you purchase this device drop-down menu.
  • Locate your device's IMEI number. To find this unique number, go to Settings > About phone > IMEI .
  • Type the IMEI number of your device into the appropriate section on the Verizon site.
  • Click the Continue button. If your device is unlocked and is eligible to transfer to Verizon, move forward with the next steps. If your phone can't be unlocked, you may need to purchase a phone from Verizon or contact customer service if something goes wrong with your IMEI number.
  • Choose Yes on the next page to get a Verizon SIM card mailed to your address in a few days.
  • Enter your current number to begin the phone number porting process. Provide the account number of your current wireless carrier so that your phone number can be located.
  • Pick a phone plan that works best for your needs.
  • Review your phone plan and previous details, and then proceed to checkout.
  • You can now move from your old carrier to Verizon using your current number. The number porting process typically takes 24 hours to finalize, so your service may be interrupted while your number is being transferred.

Transfer your number to Verizon by getting a new compatible phone

You can still transfer your number if you can't unlock your device or want a new compatible phone from Verizon. Here is how to select a new phone plan with Verizon while keeping your old number:

  • Request a number transfer PIN from your current wireless carrier.
  • Go to the Switch to Verizon website on any device.
  • Click the Switch now button to check your eligibility.
  • Type your current zip code to view all available phone data plans.
  • Pick a phone plan that fits your needs. Choose Add popular plan to use the selected options or select Customize this plan to tweak the plan how you want. Alternatively, pick the Start building option below the default plans to create a unique plan.
  • Select the new phone you want to purchase. There are typically promotional deals for new customers that allow you to get a new device for free.
  • Add your home address and other account-related details, and select the number porting option when required.
  • You can now move from your old carrier to Verizon using your current number. The number port-out process typically takes 24 hours to finalize, so your service may be interrupted while your number is being transferred.

How to find your Verizon account number

Go to a verizon wireless carrier store to transfer your number.

Suppose you don't want to mess with the porting number process yourself. Drop by a Verizon Wireless carrier store to ask them to do it for you. The customer service staff can assist you with porting your number and setting up your Verizon account. Let them know you want to join Verizon Wireless while keeping your current phone number, and they'll guide you through the steps. This method is beneficial if you aren't comfortable porting your number manually or need help making it work correctly.

When you visit the Verizon Wireless carrier store, they will request your number transfer PIN and other details about your previous carrier's account. To ensure a smooth transfer, have this information readily available before entering the store. If you need assistance in obtaining the necessary information to initiate the transfer process, they can also help with that. When they have everything, they will set up your new account, and you can go from there. They can determine if you can bring your old phone or if you need to purchase one from Verizon.

Transferring your number to Verizon doesn't have to be difficult

The Verizon phone number transfer process is simple, whether you prefer to use the online method or go into a Verizon Wireless carrier store. Everyone's situation is different, so you might need to do a few things before being eligible to transfer your number to Verizon. You must also be careful about ETFs or device payment plans on your current wireless carrier, which might prevent you from transferring your number and choosing a Verizon plan . However, using your current number on Verizon is straightforward when you clear any remaining hurdles from your previous wireless carrier.
