Lam Research to train chipmaking engineers in India under US-India semiconductor partnership

Lam Research has entered a three-way MoU with the India Semiconductor Mission and the Indian Institute of Science to facilitate the widespread adoption of Semiverse Solutions. The India Semiconductor Mission will assist in setting up infrastructure and covering operational expenses. Additionally, Lam Research has pledged to contribute INR 2.4 billion (US$29 million) software licenses over the next two years.

IMF forecasts India will become fourth-largest economy by 2025, third by 2027

India has improved its per capita gdp ranking from 153 in 2018 to 144 in 2023, going past the republic of congo, ghana, kenya, cambodia and the lao people’s democratic republic. by 2029, it is forecast to overtake uzbekistan, papua new guinea and angola.

If the IMF projections given in its World Economic Outlook database for April 2024 are right, India will overtake Japan to become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2025 and overtake Germany to become the third largest by 2027, using the yardstick of GDP in current US dollars. See Chart 1.

China’s GDP, which was 65 percent of US GDP in 2023, is forecast to be 71 percent of US GDP in 2029.
