Professor Garlick's Assignment 2 unlocks after completing Professor Garlick's Assignment 1 .

Quest Information

Unlocks the flipendo spell.

The Flipendo Spell that you will learn from Professor Garlick in this Assignment is a Force Spell that can keep enemies airborne and prolong juggles when combined with Levioso and Accio . This spell can also be used to solve certain puzzles.

Professor Garlick's Assignment 2 Walkthrough

Quest objectives, 1. how to grow and harvest fluxweed.

This Assignment requires you to actually plant Fluxweed and harvest them from the potting table. Fluxweed Seeds can be bought from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade for 350 Gold.

Before you leave, if you don't have a Potting Table with a Large Pot yet, stop by Tomes and Scrolls on the south part of Hogsmeade and purchase a scroll for one, as Fluxweed need to be planted on a large pot.

Now fast travel to your Room of Requirement, conjure the potting table, and plant the Fluxweed. Come back after 15 minutes and harvest the Fluxweed to complete the objective.

• Successfully avoid enemy attacks by dodge rolling (0/10)
• The easiest way to quickly accomplish both of these tasks is to pull up your map and find a location called East Hogsmeade Valley. Click so that a quest marker guide comes up and travel to it.
• As you travel you should run into goblin enemies along the way there and you can fulfill the requirements by fighting them. Keep an eye on your mini map for the red arrows which indicate enemies you can fight.
• If it’s the middle of the night, you can move time forward by pulling up the map. In the lower right hand corner there will be listed a button you can interact with (click R3 on the PS5 controller, F on keyboard and mouse) to ‘Wait’ and advance the game to daytime.
• She will teach you the Expelliarmus the spell
• Complete the mini-game, the same as before

• Now you can head to East Hogsmeade Valley to start Jackdaw’s Rest

Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 is an Assignment in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 assignment quest.

Location :  The Library Annex -> Potions Classroom Quest Giver: Professor Sharp Requirement:  Having Finished  Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 Reward:  Diffindo, 150XP Mission Info:  Professor Sharp wants me to use a Thunderbrew Potion against some enemies. He also wants me to test an Invisibility Potion. I should be able to find potions and recipes at J. Pippins Potions. My Field Guide will not guide me through this assignment, but y map could still prove useful.

Objectives:

Acquire and use an Invisibility Potion

Acquire and use a thunderbrew potion against enemies, return to professor sharp, starting location: professor sharp’s assignment 2.

Now go to The Library Annex -> Potions Classroom and talk to Professor Sharp, he will teach you Diffindo now.

You might also evaluate if you want to buy the seeds instead. If you’re going for a build that focuses on Herbology , then you’ll want to keep your items stocked. Planting your own seeds and harvesting them at the Potting Table instead of buying items will be more economical in the long term if that’s the case. Though, it all can be an investment of its own.

Grow and Harvest Fluxweed

If you thought you were done spending money, then I’m sorry for this next step.

First, you will need to acquire Fluxweed Seeds which can be purchased at the Magic Neep for 350 galleons. Then you need to head over to Tomes and Scrolls and buy the Spellcraft , Potting Table with a Large Pot for 1000 galleons. Finally, fast travel to the Room of Requirement , so you can plant the Fluxweed Seeds.

However, completing some challenges might be difficult if players don't find the right spell combination. We updated this article to add more spell combos to defeat specific enemies.

15 Accio, Descendo, Glacius, And Diffindo Is A Powerful Combination

Using Accio will immediately bring an opponent to close range. If the opponent has a purple shield, it will add the advantage of breaking the shield in the same step. Once the opponent is levitating in front of the player, using Depulso will add quite some damage.

Before the opponent can retaliate, using Glacius will freeze them on the spot. Casting Diffindo while the opponent is frozen will break them into a lot of little pieces and probably kill them immediately. This combination is perfect for very strong opponents as it will cause a ton of damage in very little time, allowing the player to quickly focus on other opponents.

14 Accio, Incendio, Descendo, And Bombarda Works Great For Multiple Enemies

Hogwarts Legacy has a massive collection of useful spells for players, but its combat could have been even better with these powerful additions.

This combination of spells is perfect for players who like juggling their opponents and also watching them burn. Accio will bring the enemy closer and Incendio will cast them on fire. While they're burning, Descendo will hit them against the floor, causing a lot of damage, and Bombarda will seal the deal with an extra layer of damage.

This combo is also pretty useful when being attacked by several enemies at the same time, and players already have the Mastery of all four spells (or at least some of them). Accio will bring a lot of opponents closer, Incendio will cause a ring of fire, Descendo will create a blast in front of the player, and Bombarda will create an explosion in the immediate area, all of which will cause plenty of damage to enemies close to the player.

13 Expelliarmus, Ancient Throw, Glacius, And Diffindo Is A Great Combo For Goblins

The Expelliarmus, Ancient Throw, Glacius, and Diffindo combo is especially useful when combating Goblins, as these creatures often carry weapons like crossbows. Players will disarm them and immediately use their own weapon against them with the Ancient Throw. After that, it's just a matter of exploding them into several pieces with Glacius and Diffindo.

Even when dealing with wizards instead of Goblins, this is a great spell combination. Expelliarmus will deal some damage as well as leave the wizard unarmed, which is already an advantage. If there are any barrels or other objects to throw around -- which is common -- Ancient Throw will make them explode in their faces. If this doesn't already kill them, Glacius and Diffindo will the old reliable.

12 Descendo, Incendio, Bombarda, And Confringo Is The Best Recipe For Spiders

This pure damage and fire combo is the best option when facing all types of spiders, which are definitely the most common creatures players are going to encounter in Hogwarts Legacy. Players will start with a Force spell, Descendo, just to bring them down with some power which is going to take away some damage points .

After this, Incendio, Bombarda, and Confringo together will set the spiders on fire, which is their biggest weakness. If players have mastery of these spells, it also will affect other spiders, which would be fantastic. Replacing Descendo with Glacius makes for a good combo with Trolls as well. However, Incendio might need the Troll too close for comfort.

11 Levioso, Flipendo, And Diffindo Is The Only Method For Defeating Dugbogs

Hogwarts legacy's most violent spells contradict harry potter's message.

There is a serious gameplay/narrative divide at the heart of Hogwarts Legacy that highlights the concept of Ludonarrative Dissonance.

Dugbogs are creatures players can find alongside rivers or bogs, and they are sometimes necessary to kill to obtain Dubbog tongues for potion recipes. The thing with these creatures is that if players try to power through with Basic Attack of Damage Spells, they're going to take a long time to defeat them.

The best option is using this combo when the Dugbog is getting ready to attack with its tongue. Players simply need to levitate them by the tongue with Levioso -- possibly completing a dueling challenge in the meanwhile --, then use Flipendo to flip them on their back, and finally Diffindo to attack them while they're vulnerable, likely killing them in an instant.

10 Levioso And Diffindo Lifts Adversaries In The Air To Then Slam Them Back Down

Instead of hitting enemies while they’re down, the combo of Levioso and Diffindo hoists enemies helplessly into the air and then hits them. The Levioso charm allows players to briefly levitate objects or opponents, leaving them immobile and vulnerable. Using Diffindo afterward subsequently deals massive damage.

These spells are an especially great combination for players to have at the ready when they’re near a body of water. Using Levioso on a Dugbog as it’s about to attack with its tongue and then hitting it with Diffindo will kill them in one hit.

9 Glacius And Petrificus Totalus Is Ideal For Finishing A Final Foe

Petrificus Totalus petrifies any target instantly. This spell is quite powerful, but players can only use it when not in combat and while next to their target. If a player faces only one enemy, the Glacius spell can help fulfill these conditions.

When a player, regardless of the house they choose , whittles down an opposing force to a single enemy, they can hit them with Glacius to temporarily freeze them. Freezing the last enemy takes the player out of combat, and once they approach the frozen opponent, they can use Petrificus Totalus to finish off the foe.

The Harry Potter franchise featured many amazing magical duels. But with the likes of Dumbledore vs. Voldemort, there are other great examples.

Like the combination with Glacius, players can also successfully pair Petrificus Totalus with Imperio. However, those looking to be “good” witches or wizards will want to avoid this option because Imperio is one of the wizarding world’s Unforgivable Curses.

Using Imperio will briefly make an enemy turn into an ally and help take down other opponents. At the end of the fight, the player can get behind this new partner and cast Petrificus Totalus while they’re still under the effects of Imperio to end them.

7 Accio, Incendio, And Depulso Launches Opponents While Setting Them Aflame

Incendio is a powerful spell that sets objects and enemies on fire. However, the spell has an incredibly short range, so players must be directly next to their target to cast it successfully. While limiting, this short range makes Incendio a great spell to use in a combination.

Using Accio, a player can pull their target toward them, cast Incendio to deal damage, and set the enemy ablaze. Finishing this combo with Depulso will then launch the opponent away, dealing damage and keeping them away from the player as they burn.

Sometimes, it’s fun to play with the enemy and do a bit of juggling. There’s a potent spell combination players can use to deal decent damage while keeping their target aloft. While the spells in this combo don’t do massive damage on their own, they help the player stay in control of a skirmish.

First, the player will lift the target with Levioso and then pull it close with Accio. Next, they’ll slam the enemy down with Descendo and finish the combination off by using Depulso to launch the enemy backward. To rack up some additional damage, players can work in other basic spells before casting the spells in this specific combination.

5 Confringo, Glacius, And Diffindo Is An Excellent Ranged Attack

Confringo is the Blasting Curse, a great spell for any magic user to have in their repertoire. The spell does damage on impact, inflicts fire damage, and has a long range. Paired with Glacius and Diffindo, almost any Hogwarts Legacy enemy will fall to a player’s wand when they cast this combination .

If the player uses Talents to improve each spell, this combo becomes even more deadly. Confringo and Glacius get an area of effect upgrade, and the enhanced Diffindo can simultaneously cut through multiple enemies. Burning, freezing, and cutting down an adversary is highly potent and can handle a group of enemies at a time.

4 Accio, Descendo, Incendio, And Glacius Packs A Punch For Close-Range Skirmishes

Players who want to get up close and personal with their enemies while dealing enormous amounts of damage, both physical and elemental, will benefit from the combination of Accio, Descendo, Incendio, and Glacius, a mixture of two purple spells, a red spell, and a yellow spell.

Players using this combo will pull enemies in with Accio, then slam them down with Descendo before delivering significant damage with the elemental spells. Incendio is a forceful fire spell for close range that leaves the target burning . Paired with Glacius, the enemy will rapidly lose health from flame and frost damage.

3 Use Disillusionment And Petrificus Totalus To Stealthily Take An Opponent Down

While Disillusionment and Petrificus Totalus aren’t technically combat spells, they are some of the most powerful enemy elimination tools at a player’s disposal. The Disillusionment Charm makes the player nearly invisible, and if they can sneak up on an enemy or magical beast , they can hit them with Petrificus Totalus.

Unfortunately, if opponents discover the player after using the Disillusionment Charm, they can no longer use Petrificus Totalus. Still, if the player is adept at sneaking up on adversaries, especially if they have spent Talents on stealth, they can take out an entire enemy encampment without a fight.

2 Transformation And Depulso/Ancient Magic Throw Turns An Opponent Into An Explosive

The Transformation Spell is one of the last spells players learn in Hogwarts Legacy , and, unsurprisingly, it’s one of the game’s most powerful spells. The spell itself doesn’t deal any damage, but it allows players to transform objects and enemies, completely changing their natures.

Transformation is exceptionally robust when paired with Depulso or the Ancient Magic Throw. This combination of spells can kill weaker enemies almost instantly. If the player has upgraded Transformation, the targeted foe will turn into an explosive barrel, essentially becoming a bomb that this spell combination will detonate, thereby injuring other enemies.

1 Curses And Avada Kedavra Are The Ultimate Destructive Force

Harry Potter is full of dangerous spells, but as Hogwarts Legacy shows, its most powerful spell presents a major problem in the wizarding world.

This overpowered spell combo is ideal for those who have no issue using dark arts in Hogwarts Legacy . The combination focuses on the killing curse, Avada Kedavra , but only after a player upgrades it using Talents.

These cursed enemies will display a green “X,” indicating a player can curse them with various spells using Talents in the Dark Arts category. Once a player has cursed enough enemies, casting the upgraded Avada Kedavra on a single cursed enemy will simultaneously target ALL cursed enemies. A player can kill entire crowds through this chain via a single spell combination.

And yet, players couldn’t do much except walk down the corridor, look into the occupied cells or go inside an open one, and trigger a cutscene.

The limited “exploration” turned out to be a sore point for many fans, and some even turned to mods that would allow them to head to the prison again. Given its demand, developers may look into throwing more of a spotlight on Harry Potter's Dementor-ridden Azkaban . That said, it is not the only location that deserves more love in Hogwarts Legacy 2 . Among the various areas that the sequel will likely include, there is perhaps nothing more demanded than Diagon Alley.

The chance to explore the famous shopping district Diagon Alley in Hogwarts Legacy 2 seems like an obvious addition. The great wizarding shopping district has enthralled fans ever since it was first mentioned, and seeing it in action in the movies only whet fan appetite further. The popular location has been explorable (or even just seen via cutscene) in earlier games as well; given Avalanche Software and Portkey Games’ skill, adding Diagon Alley in Hogwarts Legacy 2 may be even more fruitful.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened , released globally for mobile devices in June 2023, had a great rendition of the wizarding shopping district. Players could travel there whenever they wanted, customize the appearance of their wand, buy outfits, alter their appearance, and much more. Mobile games have become more immersive as technology has grown, and yet they don’t hold a candle to the sheer technical prowess of what consoles and PCs can bring about.

Avalanche Has Already Proven It Can Recreate Diagon Alley

Adding Diagon Alley to Hogwarts Legacy 2 would be well within Avalanche's abilities. Case in point, the first title did justice to Harry Potter’s Hogsmeade . The village was teeming with life and the shops had their personality; the sheer range of products available in stores and the art design was a testament to the team’s passion for the universe.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 is all but confirmed , and it will quite likely be scaled up. If so, perhaps both the shopping districts will be available to players. This would allow developers to show how stores and NPC behavior can be in a small town versus how things can really be in a shopping district that is completely commercial, draws more footfalls, and has a clientele from all walks and races of life. Even if the addition of Diagon Alley in Hogwarts Legacy 2 scales down Hogsmeade’s presence in the game or even nixes it, it may allow for a brighter spotlight on the former.

The presence of Leaky Cauldron and its varied clientele will also open up a fleshed-out NPC roster, deeper secrets, and maybe even a route towards the Dark Arts or the lofty heights of the Ministry of Magic.

It's been confirmed that the long-awaited summer update for Hogwarts Legacy will officially drop on Thursday, June 6 across all platforms. Avalanche Software announced months ago that it was planning to release a big new update for Hogwarts Legacy , though it stopped short of revealing exactly what said update would entail.

When Avalanche Software first announced the game's summer update, it let fans know that it would see the release of the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest to all players, but kept everything else a secret. Now Avalanche Software has finally pulled the curtain back on the Hogwarts Legacy summer update, revealing everything fans can expect when it launches on June 6, 2024.

A New Beginning completely changes Hogwarts Legacy's visuals, and Avalanche Software needs to learn from the mod in the sequel.

As announced by Avalanche Software, the free Hogwarts Legacy update on June 6 will be adding the fan-requested photo mode, the ability to reset Talent Points, the aforementioned Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest, and a batch of cosmetics. These include The Glasses That Lived, which are glasses styled after Harry Potter's, the Felix Felicis Potion Recipe, the Azkaban Prisoner's Outfit and Coat, the Lavender Borealis Broom, and the Onyx Hippogriff Mount. Some of this content was previously available to PlayStation gamers who pre-ordered the game, but now it will be available to all Hogwarts Legacy players, regardless of platform or pre-order status.
