ZoomInfo Pricing 2023 vs 2024

ZoomInfo API pricing

According to a ZoomInfo sales rep on Reddit, the ZoomInfo API pricing starts at $50K/year for prospecting and lead generation and at $5,000/year for contact enrichment within the HubSpot App Marketplace.

ZoomInfo Pricing Plans and Tiers

ZoomInfo offers three plans: Professional, Advanced, and Elite, each designed to meet different levels of need for business insights and sales tools.

Professional

The Professional plan is the gateway to ZoomInfo’s features. It gives you basic access to their database, allows for direct contact with prospects, and helps you create targeted lists. This plan is ideal for newcomers to ZoomInfo or smaller businesses exploring basic data access. The starting cost is around $15,000 annually, a bit steep for small businesses, yet there’s a free trial to give it a go before fully committing.

The Advanced plan goes a step further, providing deeper data insights like location information, org charts, and intent data. It’s geared towards businesses aiming for a more refined approach in their campaigns, ready to invest more for richer insights. The price jumps up from the Professional level, and you’ll need to get in touch with ZoomInfo’s sales team for the exact figures.

The Elite plan is the top-tier offering, bundling all of ZoomInfo’s premium features, including real-time intent signals and advanced sales automation. This plan is best suited for organizations that need comprehensive data and tools to fuel aggressive marketing and sales efforts. Pricing is custom and also requires a conversation with the sales team.

Each plan builds on the previous, starting from basic database access to sophisticated sales and marketing automation tools. Additional features and more advanced data insights become available as you move up the plans, with options for add-ons like email verification checks for an extra fee.

What Determines ZoomInfo’s Pricing?

With so much to offer, ZoomInfo’s pricing can vary greatly depending on what you need and how you use the platform. While this is a great way to tailor pricing for businesses of all sizes, it can be difficult to understand your total costs. A few key factors play a heavy role in determining your expenses for ZoomInfo’s tools and features. They include the features and functions you’re using, how many licenses you want, and the number of credits you need.

ZoomInfo has an array of fantastic add-ons that we’ll discuss later in the article. However, it’s important to understand that these add-ons will increase your monthly costs. Let’s dive into the plans that SalesOS has to offer. We’ll cover what’s included in each plan and popular add-ons.

ZoomInfo Addons

In addition to three primary SalesOS plans, ZoomInfo offers many add-ons for an additional price. Again, you’ll need to reach out to the sales team to understand how add-ons will impact your monthly or annual costs.

Common add-ons include additional communication options and enhancements, premium support plans, and automation features.

Chorus is an intuitive add-on that leverages AI to analyze trends and provide real-time feedback and guidance for conversations with prospects.

We’ve already referred to the chat feature, but it’s worth mentioning again. This powerful add-on can help you automate some of the more routine sales tasks. It will help you streamline how your prospects move through the sales funnel and free up time for your sales team.

The Engage add-on automates sales outreach, allowing you to identify and connect with buyers at scale.

If you’re looking for enhanced customer support, ZoomInfo offers three levels depending on your specific needs. There is a free version, as well as paid versions, with greatly expanded features and support options.

ZoomInfo Integrations

Integrating with existing platforms is crucial for any sales software. Fortunately, ZoomInfo makes integration a straightforward, hassle-free process. Through the ZoomInfo Marketplace, you can explore dozens of apps and platforms that can be integrated with SalesOS, including big names such as Slack, Salesforce, NeverBounce, and more.

You can search by platform types, such as sales, marketing, or recruiting, or browse the entire catalog of integrations on the ZoomInfo marketplace. While ZoomInfo makes integrating with some of the most popular sales apps and platforms simple, having integration features in your SalesOS platform will cost more.

ZoomInfo Alternatives

While ZoomInfo is a powerful, robust tool with a lot to offer sales teams, plenty of options are just as impactful and significantly less expensive. ZoomInfo is a well-known brand, but it may not be the right choice for every business. Let’s look at some top ZoomInfo alternatives to help you make the right choice for your company and sales team.

While this tool doesn’t offer as many features as the other platforms on this list, you’ll get seamless integration into your CRM and robust sales reporting to drive successful outbound campaigns.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator is primarily used as a customer contact database and provides great integration options for popular CRM tools. Here are some additional features that LinkedIn Sales Navigator has to offer.

  • Lead and company search

  • CRM integration
  • Real-time sales updates
  • See who viewed your profile

LinkedIn Sales Navigator has three plans to choose from. Unfortunately, the plan doesn’t seem to be a free version. There is, however, a free trial you can use before purchasing.

Understanding ZoomInfo Pricing and Credits—What You Need To Know

Understanding ZoomInfo Pricing and Credits—What You Need To Know

If you’re searching for a comprehensive solution for prospecting and maintaining a contact database for your growing business, you may have encountered ZoomInfo. This well-known platform is used by companies of all sizes to equip sales teams with lead-generation tools , a vast pool of business contacts, and analytics to support successful outreach campaigns.

But, their pricing model can be a little confusing to understand.

Here, we will explore ZoomInfo’s pricing and plans to help you determine whether the investment is worthwhile for your business needs.

Let’s see how much ZoomInfo costs for what you need.

What is ZoomInfo’s Pricing?

To obtain the full information on ZoomInfo’s pricing, you will need to schedule a call with their sales team and undergo a discovery process. ZoomInfo does not provide pricing details on its website.

New ZoomInfo credits packages start at $14,995 a year with a minimum two-year agreement. You can see three pricing options mentioned on ZoomInfo’s website based on personas. Unless you spring for the most expensive plan possible, you will face several limitations for your team’s data usage.

ZoomInfo’s Pricing

Source: ZoomInfo website

Limitation 1: Limited Credits

ZoomInfo credits can be limiting for cross-functional teams. First, you get a fixed number of credits (up to 5000) after spending upward of $15,000 a year. Plus, you must spend another $10,000 for additional data. Considering the smaller data cap and limited credits, this may not be the best value-for-money option for your team.

Limitation 2: Department-Focused Package

ZoomInfo offers different packages for the sales, marketing, and HR/recruitment departments. The strategy behind this is clear – you spend more to get more. If you want buyer intent data then you have to get the marketing package, but having direct dial numbers comes with the sales package. If you want both you’ll be paying extra. However, with rising data quality concerns, people are looking for ZoomInfo alternatives rather than following the spend more to get more approach.

Limitation 3: The Price is Inversely Proportional to Value for the Customer

You are paying for access to a massive database, and likely paying extra for the types of data you need such as direct dial numbers and buying intent data. But, the more you pay the less relevant data you are receiving. You only need data for your ideal clients and target industries, but you’re paying for millions more data points that will never be useful for you.

Over time, you can likely expect your price to increase without any improvement in relevant data contacts for you or data quality. By having such a large database, correcting data decay is a long and difficult process. The actionable data you need is more likely to become outdated.

If you are a user of ZoomInfo, consider closely evaluating your changes in ZoomInfo pricing and data quality to determine whether the service continues to meet your needs and expectations. You may also consider alternative providers or strategies for obtaining B2B account and contact data.

What Determines ZoomInfo’s Pricing?

With a wide range of offerings, the pricing structure of ZoomInfo can exhibit significant fluctuations based on individual requirements. While this flexible approach accommodates businesses of diverse scales, comprehending all associated expenses can prove challenging. However, several pivotal factors tend to determine the costs of ZoomInfo’s suite of tools and functionalities. These factors encompass the specific features and functionalities utilized, the desired quantity of licenses, and the requisite volume of credits.

ZoomInfo boasts an extensive selection of remarkable supplementary features, which we will go over. Nevertheless, it is imperative to grasp that these add-ons will increase your monthly expenditures. Let us delve into the spectrum of plans proffered by SalesOS, highlighting the components encompassed within each plan alongside popular supplementary offerings.

ZoomInfo Addons

Apart from the three primary SalesOS plans, ZoomInfo offers several additional features at an extra cost. To understand how these add-ons will affect your monthly or annual expenses, it’s best to contact the sales team directly.

These supplementary features encompass various options such as enhanced communication tools, premium support packages, and automation capabilities.

One noteworthy add-on is Chorus, which employs artificial intelligence to analyze trends and furnish real-time feedback and advice for interactions with potential clients.

Additionally, the chat feature, previously mentioned, deserves highlighting once more. This robust add-on can automate several routine sales tasks, facilitating a smoother progression of prospects through the sales funnel and affording more time for your sales team.

Furthermore, the Engage add-on automates sales outreach efforts, enabling you to identify and engage with potential buyers on a larger scale.

Is ZoomInfo’s pricing appropriate for individual prospecting?

ZoomInfo’s pricing structure isn’t tailored for individual prospectors or budget-conscious companies. They do not provide single licenses. The entry-level pricing of ZoomInfo might exceed the budgets of many small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and midsize businesses could find it challenging to justify the return on investment.

If you’re looking for enhanced customer support, ZoomInfo offers three levels depending on your needs. There is a free version, as well as paid versions, with greatly expanded features and support options.

Opportunity Restriction Due to ZoomInfo’s Limited Credits Model

ZoomInfo is a powerful tool that provides businesses with access to a vast amount of data about their target audience. However, the platform’s limited credit model may restrict some businesses from taking full advantage of the opportunities it offers.

ZoomInfo’s credits-based model allows users to access a certain number of contacts or companies within a specific time frame, with additional credits available for purchase. While this model may work for smaller businesses, it can pose challenges for rapidly growing organizations and larger enterprises or those with a high volume of leads.

One of the main restrictions of ZoomInfo’s credit model is that it can limit the number of opportunities a business can pursue. While offering a massive database, the credit system limits how fast you can grow your company. For example, a company may be interested in pursuing leads in a new industry, but if they have exhausted their credits maintaining their current pipeline, they may miss out on potential opportunities. This can be especially problematic for businesses with aggressive growth goals or those in highly competitive markets where every lead counts.

Another challenge with ZoomInfo’s credit system is that it can restrict the ability of sales teams to prioritize their efforts. With a limited number of credits, sales reps may have to choose which leads to pursue or be unable to create multi-threaded conversations with different decision makers and influencers at a target account This can lead to missed opportunities and lower conversion rates, which can impact a company’s bottom line.

Additionally, the limited credit model can make it difficult for businesses to conduct comprehensive market research. With a finite number of credits, companies may be forced to prioritize certain markets or industries over others, potentially missing out on valuable insights. This can be especially problematic for businesses looking to expand into new markets or launch new products, as they may not have access to the full picture of their target audience. Market testing is difficult because you don’t want to waste your credits if it doesn’t work out.

Finally, the limited credit model can be costly for businesses with high volume needs. While additional credits can be purchased, the cost can quickly add up. Credits added on after hitting your limit frequently cost a higher rate than the initial batch. This can lead to budget constraints and force businesses to make difficult decisions about where to allocate their resources.

In short, limited B2B data credits can restrict revenue opportunities by limiting access to potential customers, providing incomplete or outdated information, restricting in-depth analysis, and increasing costs.

Cross-Departmental Challenges Due to Limited Credits

Limited credits can pose several challenges for sales and marketing departments within an organization. Some of these challenges include:

  • Reduced reach: Limited credits can make it difficult for sales and marketing teams to reach their target audience effectively. For example, if there are limited funds for advertising, the marketing team may need help to reach potential customers, which could impact sales.
  • Inability to experiment: Limited credits can make it challenging for sales and marketing teams to experiment with new strategies or channels. This can lead to missed opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Disruption to sales-marketing harmony: The marketing team sometimes needs more credits than the sales team, and the sales team doesn’t have enough credits to hit quota.
  • Inadequate data analysis: Limited credits can also impact the ability of sales and marketing teams to analyze and interpret data effectively. For example, if there are limited resources for data analysis, it may be challenging to identify trends and insights that can inform strategy.
  • Reduced collaboration: Limited credits can create silos between sales and marketing departments, as each department may compete for limited resources. This can result in a lack of collaboration and communication between teams, which can further impact the organization’s overall performance.
  • Decreased ROI: Limited credits can also impact the return on investment (ROI) for sales and marketing initiatives. With limited funds, it may be challenging to execute campaigns effectively, resulting in lower sales and revenue.
  • Choosing between enrichment versus new leads: Do you use your credits to enrich and keep up companies in your current pipeline or CRM? Or, do you pursue brand-new contacts? Being limited by credits can make it difficult to do both and force teams to choose between their old data being reliable or finding new leads.

Comparing salesintel with zoominfo.

With ZoomInfo (and our other competitors), you pay for credits and then use those credits to access email addresses and phone numbers, export that data to your CRM or marketing automation platform, and keep your data enriched. Marketing is worried about not having enough credits for campaigns, sales is worried about not having enough credits to effectively prospect, and RevOps is scared there won’t be enough credits to keep all this data clean.

At SalesIntel, you never have to worry about credits because everything is included – all the email addresses, mobile phone numbers, account firmographics, account technographics, downloads, exports, integrations , web visitor insights , and enrichment your teams need.

Our Verdict

ZoomInfo is a leading go-to-market software that is used to help unify and streamline sales, marketing, operations and talent acquisition. It’s best known for helping businesses find their next lead and convert them into a customer—without simultaneously managing numerous software tools and platforms. It offers four solutions: SalesOS, MarketingOS, OperationsOS and TalentOS, making it a comprehensive and versatile software. However, we put it to the test with our hands-on ZoomInfo review to help you decide if it’s the right solution for your business.

  • Solid data source for prospective customers
  • Accurate contact information, including phone and email
  • Valuable intent data
  • Advanced data search provides a granular view
  • Provides data cleanup assistance
  • Numerous workflow automations
  • Free trial requires a live demo
  • Free “plan” is limited to 10 contacts
  • Lacks pricing transparency
  • Paid plans are expensive
  • Its interface can be clunky
  • Filtering could be better
  • It has a data destroy clause
  • Involves a learning curve

  • ZoomInfo is a Vancouver-based data and software company that provides data for business use.
  • It is a leading go-to-market solutions provider that is globally known as a top B2B data provider.
  • Businesses choose ZoomInfo because it helps eliminate friction in the process of finding leads.
  • It stands out for its breadth and quality of data, including intent information and the ability to access granular data.

Businesses spend a lot of money trying to reach the right people and generate quality leads. However, even with the best advertising strategies, that doesn’t always mean that ads are reaching decision-makers in your target audience. With ZoomInfo, businesses can get a hold of direct contact information for their target audience, which helps to reduce—if not eliminate—the bulk of the time-consuming lead generation process.

ZoomInfo is not lacking when it comes to cons. To start, it lacks pricing transparency and not only does it not publish its pricing on its website, but it does not provide pricing upon requesting it. For example, we used its “get pricing” call-to-action button on its pricing page and provided an email address, only to receive an email from a sales rep asking to set up a video call. On top of that, its pricing structure is a bit complex because it’s based on a variety of factors such as how many users you plan to have, how many contacts you wish to acquire and your industry. Pricing aside, it’s time-consuming to set up and involves a fairly steep learning curve so users need to be willing to invest ample time to be able to use ZoomInfo properly.

ZoomInfo compiles a database of over 321 million contacts using a variety of sources, such as public records, annual reports, business websites and data scraping, as a means to collect information that is not publicly available. This data is then organized so that ZoomInfo users are able to search for contacts that are within their target audience and collect qualified leads. This saves businesses a great deal of time as it helps to bypass the time-consuming and often very expensive process of lead generation.

Aside from its contact database, ZoomInfo also offers a variety of services, such as SalesOS, MarketingOS, OperationsOS and TalentOS, which further help streamline, organize and automate various business processes. While each of these services works a bit differently, they all help reduce the number of different software systems businesses need to provide a centralized platform that operates more efficiently.

zoominfo business plan cost

The core feature of ZoomInfo is its ability to provide qualified leads to businesses. Additionally, it also offers a variety of features that center around improving the efficiency and effectiveness of sales, marketing, operations and talent acquisition teams. Regardless of which ZoomInfo service you are interested in, each serves to cut down the number of various tools and software you need to effectively run your business.

ZoomInfo’s most well-known feature is its SalesOS software, which serves as its database where users can search for contacts and companies. It includes advanced search features, such as filtering as well as intent to help make the process of identifying contacts who are not only in your target audience, but are likely to be a well-qualified lead. SalesOS also includes sales automation tools, to help keep contacts organized and route leads to appropriate salespeople, as well as conversation intelligence for data-driven insights into live sales calls and sales workflows to help effortlessly move prospects through the sales pipeline.

MarketingOS

The MarketingOS software from ZoomInfo is an all-in-one account-based marketing (ABM) solution. With advanced B2B intelligence, it helps businesses more quickly convert qualified leads into sales. It achieves this in a few ways. First, through data-driven insights, such as buyer intent, which can help businesses gauge a contact’s interest and likelihood of becoming a customer. It also offers cross-channel advertising, which helps businesses launch targeted display and social ads with sophisticated ad targeting so that your ads only display to your target audience. On top of that, it also has website chat and web form enrichment, which powers modern web forms for increased lead generation through online forms.

MarketingOS and SalesOS integrate to create a sales-generation machine. Together, the two find and qualify leads, which are then routed to sales agents to give them the opportunity to focus on the best leads and drive the most sales—without spending as much time on sourcing, qualifying and converting leads.

OperationsOS

ZoomInfo’s OperationsOS is its data management and automation solution. It offers data deduplication—including automated data deduplication using customized rules, data cleaning to remove any duplicate data, standardizing data across each contact, removing bad leads and creating targeted contact segments for targeted marketing and sales purposes. It also has data enrichment and lead routing capabilities to help ensure that leads arrive to the right salespeople.

Another feature of ZoomInfo is its talent acquisition tool, TalentOS. Similar to its database that is used to source qualified leads, and its marketing software that is used to help communicate with leads, TalentOS provides a talent search and candidate outreach. This includes employer branding to help build a recognizable recruitment funnel, as well as ATS (applicant tracking system) integrations, such as Greenhouse, Zoho Recruit, Salesforce, JazzHR, Lever and more.

ZoomInfo stands out for its vast contact database that pulls from a variety of sources, including publicly available websites, public records and annual reports and hidden information through the use of data scraping. However, what’s different about ZoomInfo is that it’s not your average contact database provider. Unlike others that simply scrape and sell information, ZoomInfo maintains its contacts, provides both email and phone numbers and offers a variety of features and tools to help businesses more effectively qualify, foster and convert leads.

The reason this makes ZoomInfo such a valuable tool is because it eliminates the time-consuming—if not exhausting—process of lead generation. And what’s more than that, it helps businesses use leads more efficiently in order to more quickly convert leads into sales.

zoominfo business plan cost

ZoomInfo offers a free plan, ZoomInfo Lite, for those who use a supported version of Microsoft Outlook or Google Apps for Business. It includes 25-100 credits for the first month depending on your domain. After the first month, you get 10 credits per month. You also get access to its mobile app and Chrome extension. You are required to share your contacts in order to access the ZoomInfo lite program and only three employees are able to access the database.

In terms of its standard plans, pricing is on a custom basis and therefore varies from business to business. It’s based on a number of variables, such as number of users (or “seats,” as ZoomInfo calls them), contact volume and industry. Though it does not publish pricing, the sales rep we spoke with said that it ranges from as little as a couple of hundred dollars per month for those with one use who need minimal contacts to several thousand dollars per month for enterprise-level companies.

In our experience, the process of just signing up for its free trial was obnoxious. The reason is that in order to sign up for its free trial, users must provide their full name, a phone number and their email to which a sales representative from ZoomInfo will reach out to set up a demo call. We called ZoomInfo after not receiving an email or call within a few minutes (as its site states we would) and spoke with a sales rep who confirmed that users must complete the demo via a video call in order to access ZoomInfo’s free trial.

Alternatively, the sales rep could help users sign up for ZoomInfo Lite, its free plan; however, this “plan” is only good for four days and includes access to just 10 contacts—all in exchange for giving ZoomInfo access to your business’s contacts.

That said, once in, ZoomInfo involves a learning curve. In fact, this is the reason why it does not provide access to its platform without a walk-through with a ZoomInfo professional. Users report that it takes hours to set up a new account, and after experiencing how much time it takes just to try to access its free trial, we’re hardly surprised.

zoominfo business plan cost

When it comes to ease of use, ZoomInfo does not receive particularly high marks. While it becomes easy to use once users become familiar with it, the problem is that it’s not very intuitive. So much so that this is why ZoomInfo does not provide access to its free trial without getting users onto a demo call with a sales rep who walks them through how to use the platform. Without this walk-through, its platform is not intuitive enough for self-guided learning. Additionally, users report that it takes hours to set up and maintain ZoomInfo, and many note that its filtering needs improvement.

zoominfo business plan cost

ZoomInfo is committed to data security and does a good job of keeping processes in place to uphold and ensure the integrity of its data. However, while its security measures might provide peace of mind, beware that ZoomInfo has been involved in a number of lawsuits, including a class action lawsuit that said that its free “ZoomInfo Community” (now “ZoomInfo Lite”) members did not consent to ZoomInfo intercepting their contacts.

We found ZoomInfo’s sales support very unhelpful. For example, since it does not advertise its pricing on its site, we used its “Get pricing” call to action on its pricing page, only to receive emails from sales asking to set up a demo. Even after clarifying that we simply wanted pricing, it took a number of “let’s set up a call” emails before getting the information we were looking for. Granted, sales support and customer service are two different things and luckily its customer support is generally more helpful.

ZoomInfo’s customer service and support is available by phone at 866-904-9666, 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday, with additional U.S. weekend coverage. You can also fill out a contact form. Customer support is based on the support plan that you purchase, however. Customers with Preferred and Platinum support plans get the above customer service, while those with the free Standard Support plan in their contract get coverage during local business hours only.

ZoomInfo also has on-demand training videos and ZoomInfo University, which provides webinars, certifications, and courses. It also has a comprehensive help center, which is helpful for those with generic questions or common issues that they would prefer to remedy on their own.

It’s worth noting that ZoomInfo Lite is available for free, but it comes with one caveat that is important to be aware of. It’s free in exchange for your business’s data—meaning in order to get access, you must share your business’s contacts with ZoomInfo. On top of that, to use ZoomInfo Lite, users must send and receive email using a supported Microsoft Outlook or Google app. It’s also not available to past or existing customers, so if you’ve used ZoomInfo before, you will not qualify for ZoomInfo Lite, which is a bit disappointing in our opinion—especially for small business owners and founders who have used it for businesses other than the one they currently operate.

  ZoomInfo LeadIQ UpLead Apollo

ZoomInfo vs. LeadIQ

LeadIQ is a far more cost-effective alternative to ZoomInfo. While ZoomInfo’s pricing starts at around $200 per month (and may cost several thousand dollars per month depending on your needs), LeadIQ offers a free forever plan that provides up to 20 emails per week and up to 10 phone numbers per month. Its premium plans start at $39 per month, making it one of the most competitively priced providers on the market. However, one key feature that ZoomInfo has that LeadIQ lacks is intent. Granted, it’s a big price difference for a feature that may or may not make that big of a difference.

ZoomInfo vs. UpLead

ZoomInfo and UpLead are two very similar database and contact data providers. However, UpLead stands out for its affordability and pricing transparency. Unlike ZoomInfo, which fails to advertise its pricing, and ranges from $200 to over $7,000 per month, UpLead offers transparent pricing and plans that start as low as $99 per month. Unlike ZoomInfo, it does not offer a free plan. However, it does offer a free trial. It also offers technographics, just as ZoomInfo does. What this means is that users can search for contacts that use competing or complementary services. In other words, you can find out who is using a competitor’s product or service or who is using a product or service that complements what you offer.

ZoomInfo vs. Apollo

When comparing ZoomInfo to Apollo, it’s clear that Apollo is the far more affordable option that not only has transparent pricing (unlike ZoomInfo), but it also has a free plan with unlimited email credits. In terms of user experience, Apollo is far more intuitive, making it an easier platform to get to know and use. ZoomInfo is time-consuming to set up and often involves a fairly steep learning curve. In short, Apollo is generally the better choice for businesses that are looking to save both time and money.

ZoomInfo is best suited for enterprise-level companies seeking to supercharge their lead generation and sales processes. This is because while it is something of a data intelligence powerhouse, it also requires a large investment of your time and money to get started and it’s not likely to be best suited for smaller businesses.

While it’s a robust data intelligence provider that can serve as a sales and marketing machine, ZoomInfo is not well-suited for every business—especially not small businesses and startups on a tight budget. While it can save businesses a lot of time in the long run, it’s worth keeping in mind that you’re still buying contacts, which is widely deemed a no-no in the marketing world and one that does not necessarily equate to leads that are actually interested in your business—just those that fall within your target audience.

Those who wish to try bypassing the lead generation step without spending hundreds—if not thousands—of dollars per month could consider using a competing tool such as UpLead, Apollo, LeadIQ or a free email finder such as GetProspect, Hunter.io or AeroLeads.

Is ZoomInfo worth it?

ZoomInfo is worth it for certain businesses, but these tend to be large, enterprise-level companies with the resources to justify the price and the need to have not just contacts, but a way to quickly route and foster leads with a larger sales and marketing ecosystem. That said, the average small business will likely find that ZoomInfo is not worth its price tag that is over quadruple of many of its direct competitors.

How much does ZoomInfo cost?

According to a sales representative, ZoomInfo pricing starts at around $200 per month and increases to over $7,000 per month depending on a number of factors, such as the number of “seats” you need (users), contact volume and industry.

How reliable is ZoomInfo?

While ZoomInfo generally has high-quality contacts, users do report that they still run into contacts that are no longer in use, such as previous employees. So while ZoomInfo works to keep its database up to date, changes do happen and users do occasionally get invalid contact information.

ZoomInfo Pricing Plans for 2023

ZoomInfo has a lot to offer, and its cost might vary significantly based on your needs and how you utilize the product . Although this is an amazing approach to customize pricing for companies of all sizes, it might be challenging to comprehend your entire expenditure. Your costs for using ZoomInfo’s tools and capabilities are heavily influenced by a few crucial variables. They consist of the features and functionalities you utilize , the quantity of licenses and credits you desire .

Let’s discuss the detailed pricing plans of ZoomInfo for 2023.

1. Professional+

The most fundamental plan offered by SalesOS, is a good entry-level option to get an idea about ZoomInfo’s core capabilities. You will gain access to the client database, be able to call them directly, create custom prospect lists, alerts, and filters, among other capabilities.

Although ZoomInfo’s basic plan has a strong selection of tools and capabilities, the cost is rather high. The platform’s Professional+ package without any add-ons starts at slightly under $15,000 per year. If your business is a small startup, ZoomInfo may be too expensive.

However, the plan provides a free trial so that you can use the site risk-free before making a purchase.

2. Advanced+

This includes every feature of the Professional+ plan, along with improved data elements and insights for quicker results. You get access to geographical data, organizational charts, linkages to social media profiles, tech adoption insights, information about purchasing intent, information about website visitors, and even better filtering possibilities.

While the Professional+ plan’s annual starting price is around $15,000, the Advanced+ and Elite+ plans’ prices are unclear. It’s likely that the fees will be substantially more than the Professional+ plan, but you’ll have to talk to the sales team to find out the specific costs.

The Elite+ package is a top-of-the-line marketing solution. It offers real-time buying intent signals, automation for typical sales tasks, contact tracking, and AI-generated target customer profiles in addition to everything Professional+ and Advanced+ have to offer.

The Elite+ plan can be a good fit if you’re prepared to launch an aggressive lead generating campaign. Premium features, however, cost a premium. For a personalized price for the Elite+ plan based on your needs, you’ll need to get in touch with the sales staff.

ZoomInfo Alternatives

Although ZoomInfo is a strong, versatile product with lot s to offer sales teams, there are many alternatives that are equally effective and far less expensive. To assist you in making the best decision for your business and sales force, let’s examine some of the best alternatives that have more to offer than ZoomInfo pricing and plans.

1. DataCaptive

At an affordable price range , DataCaptive offers a powerful set of tools and features to advance your sales.  With an industry-leading prospector tool, real-time email search & verification, data enrichment services, company & contact insights, data-driven marketing, and many more captivating features, DataCaptive is an excellent alternative to ZoomInfo.

2. Apollo.io

Apollo offers a comprehensive database of business contacts, company information, and a suite of sales engagement tools.

4. Clearbit

ZoomInfo’s Pricing Plans

ZoomInfo offers multiple pricing plans based entirely on the solutions your business requires. The pricing options differ depending on:

  • The features and functionality
  • The number of licenses
  • The number of credits

With basic credits, you can get information about traditional demographics and firmographics.

For advanced information such as technographic, department budgets, organization charts, and real-time data on company events like product launches, funding rounds, and partnerships, you’ll need more credits.

Even their support is split between three different pricing tiers.

Unfortunately, ZoomInfo does not offer any pricing details on their web page, and to get a demo you’ll need to get in contact with one of their sales associates.

Obviously, the pricing will increase as you add more credits to your profile.

What’s Included in Each Pricing Tier

There are three ZoomInfo pricing plans: Professional, Advanced, and Elite . All three plans include access to ZoomInfo's core features, which include:

  • Comprehensive search options to help you quickly find information about professionals and companies by searching for keywords or company/contact names.
  • Direct phone numbers and email addresses of professionals and key contacts of various companies.
  • Tailored prospect lists and email alerts to ensure that you get notified when new information is added to ZoomInfo that matches your search criteria.
  • Detailed profiles of professionals that include their job titles, company, and contact information.
  • Export data in a variety of formats including Excel, PDF, and CSV.
  • View detailed company information such as its revenue, employees, and website when searching for company profiles.

With ZoomInfo’s Advanced and Elite pricing plans, you also get access to features like:

  • Location and corporate hierarchy data in organizations
  • Department organization charts
  • Mobile phone numbers, and personal email addresses

With ZoomInfo’s highest-priced plan, called “Elite,” you also get access to features like:

  • Purchasing intent data
  • Company attributes
  • Dynamic data-driven workflows

What Are the Other Factors That Determine ZoomInfo Pricing?

ZoomInfo’s pricing is not a simple tiered system, and there are plenty of other factors that could influence how much you pay for your subscription.

Here are some other factors that determine the pricing:

1. Add-On Solutions to the ZoomInfo Platform

For example, the platform offers a Streaming Intent add-on solution, which is useful if you want to get real-time insights into when companies are searching for your products and services.

Other key add-on solutions include:

  • Global Data Passport for business expansion
  • Engage for automated email and cold calling outreach
  • Website Chat to help you identify your best website visitors
  • Data-as-a-Service for more insightful data

The cost of most add-on solutions is just like ZoomInfo’s credit pricing model, which means that you need to pay for credits based on expected usage. If your actual usage exceeds anticipated usage, you can purchase additional credits anytime.

2. Integrations with the ZoomInfo Platform

ZoomInfo integrates with many sales and marketing platforms, customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, and other automation tools.

These integrations come with a basic usage and installation cost and require a minimum purchase of bulk credits for immediate use. If your usage exceeds initial expectations, you can buy additional credits to keep using the integrated solution.

To get a customized ZoomInfo pricing quote based on your company’s credits and solutions requirements, get in touch with their sales team directly.

What Other Users Are Saying About ZoomInfo

Zoominfo vs. alternative sales intelligence platforms.

Similarly, Speakap, which is an internal communications app, found a 50% increase in pipeline growth and a 25% increase in engagement rates after adopting ZoomInfo.

ZoomInfo Pricing (2024) – Actual Prices With Full Package Details

Home / Blog / Contact Database

Joe Benjamin

  • April 3, 2024

ZoomInfo Pricing requires a call with the sales department but we’ve had people share pricing with us. This means you’ll have to calendar a call and go through a discovery process. Pricing for ZoomInfo in 2024 is actually not available on their website which is somewhat understandable. With a starting price of $6,995 it makes sense from the vendor’s point of view to not make their pricing publicly available.

(We may receive an affiliate fee for links in this post)

The cost of ZoomInfo may initially scare you but it is a category leading product for a reason. We recommend scheduling a demo to learn more .

UPDATE : However, that pricing is NO LONGER AVAILABLE . So to answer the popular question of how much does ZoomInfo cost? New ZoomInfo packages start at $14,995 a year with a minimum of a two year agreement. The price goes up slightly if you’re only signing for a year

If you’re looking at ZoomInfo alternative but not ready to make the sizable annual commitment, we would recommend checking out Wiza —an increasingly popular B2B contact database with just as many contacts, plus real-time email address verification and super flexible pricing (including a free trial with 25 credits).

zoominfo business plan cost

There are also a ton of options and features in each of the four options. Looking at packages, it is obvious that their pricing is not for solo founders or teams with small budgets. Their entry level pricing is significantly more expensive than a lot of the Hunter.io alternatives , even when you compare the enterprise level packages.

UPDATE : There are now three options with multiple features in each package . Professional doesn’t make sense for most companies that are making calls because it lacks mobile numbers. With the shift to remote, mobile numbers are critical.

The product add-ons are very interesting options. Engage is something that would be comparable to a SalesLoft Competitor . It is likely you’ll be able to consolidate your sales tooling with ZoomInfo instead of having various vendors. This means you can likely get a lower price.

Chat is a new product for the website that they’re trying to get adoption for.

Chorus is an acquisition that helps with sales call coaching via AI sales call analysis. This is part of ZoomInfo’s strategy to bundle sales tools. It competes with Gong and has received positive reviews. It may even be useful for sales recruiters when searching for qualified sales candidates.

This ZoomInfo explainer video shows the power of ZoomInfo, which will allow one to understand ZoomInfo’s pricing model and why it costs so much.

zoominfo pricing package features

ZoomInfo Pricing Explained:

Below is actual pricing from ZoomInfo acquired in September 2021. This includes Professional, Advanced and Elite tiers which is a change from the previous four tiers. What you’ll notice is a major change in the available product add-ons. If you’re wondering what is intent data we have content on that. If you’re looking for a comparison of ZoomInfo vs D&B Hoovers we have that as well.

ZoomInfo is a category leading product for a reason. We recommend scheduling a demo to learn more .

zoominfo pricing

ZoomInfo Pricing Tiers

The pricing below is from 2021 – May 2022 is available below which is similar to 2023 pricing and lower than the 2024 pricing.

  • Professional = $14,995
  • Advanced = $24,995
  • Elite = $39,995

The pricing below is from 2020

  • Starter  = $6,995
  • Elite = $44,995

Each tier comes with a variety of options. ZoomInfo does require an annual agreement.

Is ZoomInfo Free? Is There a ZoomInfo Free Trial Available? Updated for 2024

Can we get ZoomInfo for free? Or a free trial? These are very common questions. The answer is it is most definitely not free, but ZoomInfo does have a request form on their website in order to make a request for a free trial version of ZoomInfo. Consider using a free trial of ZoomInfo before making the plunge into their paid model.

As for actual pricing, ZoomInfo pricing in 2024 is up somewhat from 2023. One thing to know is that they offer annual contracts but will be open to payments made quarterly. This is not advertised but with a simple ask they’ll offer it.

Often you can get the entry level package for around 7-8K a year.

Most purchases fall in the $10-35K range given the options.

When adding additional packages or offerings like Chorus.ai you can likely negotiate a discount on the cost of ZoomInfo in 2024.

ZoomInfo SalesOs Pricing

A reader has shared their recent 2024 pricing. This is based on a two year contract. If you’re a solo founder it’s not a fit, if you have a a few salespeople the cost is justified if you have a deal size large enough. B2B data is foundational. Adding in tech stack consolidation by bringing in tools like Chorus and Engage could be an add-on, as well as intent data.

ZoomInfo Reddit Reviews and Discussion about Pricing & More

Positive reviews.

  • ZoomInfo is considered the industry standard for accurate and comprehensive business contact data, especially for phone numbers and email addresses.
  • ZoomInfo’s integrations with CRMs and sales tools make it very useful and efficient for sales teams.
  • Many sales professionals feel they could not be as effective without access to ZoomInfo’s database, and well worth the price and cost.

Negative Reviews

  • ZoomInfo pricing and costs can be quite expensive, with prices ranging from $200 to over $7,000 per month.
  • The data can sometimes be outdated, with contacts having left companies a while ago.

Is ZoomInfo Price Worth the Cost for Small Businesses?

ZoomInfo is widely regarded as having one of the most comprehensive and accurate databases of business contacts, including valuable information like names, job titles, email addresses, and phone numbers – well worth the cost for a ZoomInfo subscription. This can be extremely valuable for small sales and marketing teams looking to efficiently identify and connect with potential customers and make it worth the sum of money required for access.

However, the entry-level pricing for ZoomInfo, starting around $15,000 per year, must be factored into the ROI of a business in terms of projecting value vs revenue. As such the pricing structure also lacks flexibility, with restrictions on credits and users that may not align well with the needs of a smaller organization.

Ultimately the decision will depend on the unique requirements and resources of each individual small business.

To help you make an informed decision, this article dives into everything you should know about the ZoomInfo pricing structure. We also examined the platform’s value for money by tapping into our network of sales experts and influencers, as well as ZoomInfo’s existing users.

Let’s begin!

ZoomInfo Price—Which Pricing Model Does the Platform Use?

ZoomInfo offers custom, quote-based pricing. No specific information is readily available on the website , so there’s no way of knowing exactly how much the platform will cost you until you reach out to the sales team.

What we do know is that the cost depends on three factors:

  • Your chosen features
  • Number of licenses
  • Credit usage ‍

Like many of its alternatives, ZoomInfo relies on credits for lead enrichment, and the credits vary depending on the data you want . If you only need emails and phone numbers, you can use the platform’s so-called basic credits. Advanced info like technographic data requires robust credits and is more expensive.

The pricing also differs according to the specific ZoomInfo products you need, and you have four options to choose from :

SalesOS seems to be ZoomInfo’s most popular solution, as it includes lots of valuable features, such as:

  • Contact and company search
  • Sales automation
  • Conversation intelligence ‍

zoominfo business plan cost

As useful as these features may be, they don’t sell for cheap—you’ll need to splurge quite a bit to use SalesOS.

ZoomInfo SalesOS Price

While the specific price of SalesOS isn’t available, ZoomInfo claims an average user spends a whopping $30,000 on the platform annually . If you run a small business or are otherwise mindful of your budget, you might find SalesOS way too expensive—and rightfully so.

User-reported prices are aligned with ZoomInfo’s estimates. Customers pay several thousands of dollars per license, which easily amounts to five or even six figures per year , depending on the number of team members. Add ZoomInfo’s other products and functionalities to the mix, and you can see why the platform is reserved for those with a massive budget.

The exact price will also depend on your chosen SalesOS plan. You have three options to choose from, and the following table shows some of the main feature differences between them:

What Is the ZoomInfo Price per Month?

The reason you’ll always see ZoomInfo pricing expressed annually is simple— the platform doesn’t offer monthly plans . This lack of flexibility is a major disadvantage for two reasons:

  • You need to spend a bunch of money upfront
  • You can’t get out of the contract before the year expires, no matter how unhappy you might be with the results ‍

These problems aren’t only theoretical—there have been instances of users wanting to drop ZoomInfo only to end up stuck in the contract without an option to get their money back .

This is a common issue in the customer engagement industry as a whole, as many platforms tie you in annual contracts. The risk of vendor lock-in is quite high , and it may cause you to burn a lot of money on additional platforms while still paying for the one that isn’t getting the desired results.

Can You Use ZoomInfo for Free?

ZoomInfo offers a 14-day free trial you can use to test its features first-hand and decide whether you should commit to the platform. It also advertises ZoomInfo Lite as a free plan, promising users the same level of information as paid customers.

Unfortunately, the “free” plan doesn’t exactly live up to this promise for several reasons . While it may come without financial costs, you’ll pay in another currency—your data. Namely, ZoomInfo requires full access to your connected email address , which allows it to read and gather all sorts of data, such as:

  • Email subjects
  • Signature blocks
  • Your contacts’ information ‍

Besides being quite an invasion of your privacy, such access is a high price to pay for what ZoomInfo Lite offers. You can only unlock the information of up to 10 contacts per month , so even with a high lead-to-close ratio, it’ll be months before you generate any notable revenue.

So yes, you technically can use ZoomInfo for free, but it most likely won’t be worth it .

zoominfo business plan cost

Should You Invest in ZoomInfo?

We’ve established that using ZoomInfo’s free version likely won’t give you satisfactory results—but what about the paid plans?

The jury is still out on the platform’s cost-effectiveness, as users’ reviews of ZoomInfo have been somewhat mixed . While many customers have enjoyed the platform’s massive database and other features, others have reported significant issues, such as:

  • Incorrect and/or outdated information
  • Complex integration and disappointing service
  • Questionable data practices

This doesn’t mean ZoomInfo isn’t a good platform— it only means it’s not for everyone . That’s why it’s best to assess its potential value based on your unique circumstances on top of reading others’ experiences.

If you’re not sure which factors to focus on, consider the following:

What To Do if ZoomInfo Isn’t for You

People choose ZoomInfo despite its high costs because it has a vast database of contact information and valuable data points. Replacing such a database is no easy feat, so many users who need an alternative to ZoomInfo end up relying on several data providers at once.

You might turn to a platform like Hunter.io or Apollo.io , only to realize you’re still not getting the data you need. You’ll then switch to another provider, rinse, and repeat. At one point, you might find yourself juggling a bunch of contracts and wasting a lot of money .

Luckily, it doesn’t have to be like this—you can find an outbound platform that lets you tap into numerous data sources for the price of one. Not only does this ensure simplicity and convenience, but it can also save you quite some money in the long run.

To enjoy these benefits and streamline your outreach strategy without hefty investments, check out Clay . 🌈

ZoomInfo Pricing in 2024: How Much Does It Really Cost?

ZoomInfo Pricing 2024

Having a tough time finding the decision-makers among your target audience? ZoomInfo can help you zero in on the data, offering features that reveal contact details , extract insights from email conversations, and automate the outreach process.

It’d be great to know how much this would cost, but the pricing page has little information. I get it: they want you to reach out so they understand your needs and offer a tailored quote. But if you’re going to have a call for every platform you’re considering right now, you’re in for wasting a lot of time.

So I did the legwork for you: I researched everything there is to know about ZoomInfo’s pricing on the open web and exchanged emails with their sales reps. After hours on their website, online forums, and fact-checking everything, here’s how it works.

Everything about ZoomInfo pricing

The reference starting price for a new mid-tier, 2-year contract is $15,000 yearly.

Despite being a mid-tier plan, it’s unclear exactly how many features are included at this price point, so let me break down how ZoomInfo does its pricing. This way, you’ll have an idea of how it’ll vary based on your current needs.

What is ZoomInfo’s pricing based on?

ZoomInfo pricing packages

As an all-in-one GTM platform, ZoomInfo’s pricing is based on three major aspects:

  • The number of features across the 3 main packages—Sales, Marketing, and Talent.
  • The credits. These are consumed every time you export professional contacts or companies from the platform. The more data depth in this export, the pricier these will be.
  • The number of licenses. The more users you have using this platform, the higher the cost.

In addition to access to the contact database and the export feature, ZoomInfo also offers Chorus (a conversation intelligence tool), Chat (a data-powered website chat widget), and Engage , (phone and email automation).

There are other tools you can use within the platform, but ZoomInfo doesn’t offer a full public list. One of these is Streaming Intent: a feed that will help you understand which companies are looking for your products or services, so you can target and convert them quickly. This specific tool has a pay-as-you-go structure. Other tools follow either the same pricing model or have a fixed fee.

You’ll also notice that ZoomInfo offers a suite of marketing and talent search tools. Adding these to your contract will increase the overall price. For our discussion here, however, I’m going to focus on the sales features as they’re what make this platform special.

ZoomInfo’s free trial

Once you reach out to the ZoomInfo sales team, they’ll first give you a platform demo with one of their account executives. Then, they can set up a 4- to 7-day limited trial, offering a limited number of credits so you can explore the platform on your own.

ZoomInfo’s paid plans

ZoomInfo pricing plans for Sales package

ZoomInfo’s Sales suite offers 3 pricing tiers. Here are the names with an estimate of how much each costs, based on what current and past clients shared online:

  • Professional+, which starts at around $8,000 per year.
  • Advanced+, starting at around $14,000 per year.
  • And Elite+, set at around $40,000 per year.

The main difference between each of the tiers is that you get access to deeper insights: when pulling contact information, someone on the Elite+ plan will see more details about it than someone on the Professional+ plan.

This doesn’t give you access to unlimited contacts , though. These plans include credits. You’ll use them to export contacts from the platform. If you’re doing intensive prospecting and need lots of contacts, you may have to pay overages.

What are users saying about ZoomInfo’s pricing?

With over 8,000 reviews, ZoomInfo is rated 4.4 out of 5 stars in G2 . Users praise the platform for helping them find the contact details of decision-makers, as well as searching and filtering tools to find companies that may want to do business with you. The negative opinions focus on the inaccuracy or unavailability of contacts for specific regions or industries as well as the inconsistent quality of ZoomInfo support.

There aren’t many discussions on ZoomInfo’s pricing on Reddit, but the few available offer useful insights into how much the price can vary. In one thread , a ZoomInfo associate says that while pricing usually hovers around $15,000, stripped-down packages can start at $7,000 (this is close to what other customers say in a different thread ). No matter the price, there are no single-user plans and you can’t sign the contract as a freelancer or solopreneur: you need to be a registered company.

This shows there’s room for negotiation with the ZoomInfo team, so you can adjust the number of users, feature set, and credits to tailor it to your budget.

Is ZoomInfo the best platform for you?

ZoomInfo core features

ZoomInfo is a strong GTM platform, with a contact database and a set of tools built around it to help you find the best leads for your products or services. Considering the pricing, it’s a good choice if you’re a well-structured medium or large business with cash on hand to invest or with fresh investor capital available.

Still, there are circumstances in which ZoomInfo may not be the best match. Early-stage companies with tight budgets or still finding product-market fit will struggle with such a big commitment. This is especially true if the sales team and processes are still coming together. It would be investing too much money on a machine that’s not ready to optimize and scale.

At the same time, if you’re like me, you want to test the software yourself to see if it fits the way you work. While it’s possible to get your hands on a trial account, it involves a lot of touchpoints with ZoomInfo sales reps before you can do so. If you end up being interested, you’ll have to negotiate the plan yourself too, which increases the overall setup time.

And if you’re an occasional prospector, only needing a few dozen contacts every month, ZoomInfo is completely overkill. The price point and time commitment are too high. You’ll be paying for a lot of tools that you won’t use.

If your sales team is still coming together, budget is an issue or prospecting is not your core activity right now, other options on the market will be a better match.

How Wiza compares to ZoomInfo pricing

Wiza as a ZoomInfo alternative

Wiza is a flexible prospecting tool, helping you find emails, phone numbers, and more data points of your target contacts. It’s a great alternative to ZoomInfo depending on your needs—and not just on pricing. Here are the top differences between both platforms.

Lower entry price. While ZoomInfo demands a high upfront investment, you can use Wiza no matter your current stage and hit your revenue targets for less. With flexible paid plans for occasional prospectors or heavy-duty contact miners alike, you can adapt it to your needs and keep more of what you earn.

Pay only for the features you need. If you already have sales software that you love to use, ZoomInfo may have you paying for features and tools that you don’t need. This lack of modularity may lock you in with a general tool, instead of incentivizing you to look for a specialized collection of tools for your business.

Integrates with thousands of apps via Zapier. While ZoomInfo offers native integrations with popular software such as HubSpot or Outlook, the main platform doesn’t connect with automation tools such as Zapier (in fact, only the Chorus add-on does). There’s an API to connect it to your other apps but this requires technical skill to implement.

Wiza has native integrations with the most popular sales CRMs and Gmail. On top of this, it connects with Zapier, so you can export your contacts and automate prospecting across thousands of apps. Love experimenting with niche apps and improving your workflows as you go? Wiza will let you do just that.

Real-time data accuracy check. One last detail: ZoomInfo’s contact database, while updated frequently, doesn’t have a real-time contact accuracy checker. You may end up spending credits for unusable information. In Wiza, whenever you look up a contact, it runs checks on the data to make sure it’s up-to-date, and your credits are only consumed if it is.

Wiza pricing

Wiza’s pricing is on a per-user, per-month basis, also scaling based on the number and type of contacts you need. You can try everything yourself in our free plan. From there, you can upgrade or downgrade plans without interference—but if you want to talk to the sales team, they’re always ready to help .

For maximum flexibility, hop on one of the monthly paid plans:

Wiza monthly pricing plans

  • Starter at $49 offers 100 emails and phone numbers
  • Email at $99 increases emails to 500
  • Email and Phone at $199 bump the numbers to 500 emails and 500 phone numbers.

If you ever need anything on top of these limits, there’s a modest pay-as-you-go fee for every extra contact.

Instead, if you’re serious about prospecting and want to save a bit of money long-term, here are the annual plans:

Wiza annual pricing plans

  • Email at $89 per month ($1068 yearly) lets you look up unlimited emails
  • Email and Phone plan at $166 per month ($1,992 yearly) removes all limits for email and phone contacts

Compared with ZoomInfo’s starting price of around $8,000 per year, Wiza is more economical and more generous on the annual plans, as there’s no credit system to worry about.

ZoomInfo pricing: a high price for growth

This is everything there is to know about ZoomInfo’s pricing on the open web—I hope the core aspects are a bit clearer now. It’s a great platform, no doubt. But with the high price points, lengthy commitment periods, and a longer setup process, it may not be the best for you.

If you’re interested and have time to explore ZoomInfo, I highly recommend you sign up for the free trial and make time to understand if it’s the right one for you.

However, if you prefer a more flexible platform that grows with you and start looking for contacts right now , click here to create your free account with Wiza .

Frequently asked questions about ZoomInfo pricing

How can i get a zoominfo quote.

Go to the ZoomInfo website and click the Free Trial button at the top right of the screen. Once you fill in your details, you’ll get a phone call from the sales team so they can understand your needs and set up the trial.

The trial usually lasts between 4 to 7 days. During or after this period, you can chat with the ZoomInfo sales team and outline the features that you’ll need. They’ll build a quote based on these details and you’ll have a chance to review all the terms.

How is ZoomInfo’s price calculated?

The cost is based on the number of features, credit use (based on data depth), and number of users.

How much does ZoomInfo cost per month?

Since the contracts are yearly, there’s no per-month subscription like other apps on the market. However, you may be able to negotiate the payment schedule, so be sure to raise this issue with ZoomInfo’s representative if you’re planning to negotiate.

What are ZoomInfo credits?

Credits are a currency available within the platform. You spend credits to export a contact from ZoomInfo into your sales CRM. The breadth and depth of data of the contact determines how pricy the export action will be. If you run out of credits at any point, you’ll have to purchase more.

Is ZoomInfo worth the price?

Yes. According to the website, it’s trusted by over 35,000 companies, doubling win rates, increasing productivity, and reducing marketing spend. Whether it’s worth the price depends on your current company size, available budget, and the sophistication of your sales processes.

What are the disadvantages of ZoomInfo’s pricing?

ZoomInfo’s pricing is inflexible as it requires a contract for at least one year (while their sales team will always try to push for at least two years or longer), it offers a limited number of credits for prospecting and the entry price point is not a good match for small and some medium businesses.

Is there a special pricing for SMBs?

While ZoomInfo may adapt its pricing based on your company size, it’s unclear whether there are special deals or discounts for smaller businesses. From my experience, they may be more generous if you negotiate a multi-year contract, if they see that you’ll be upgrading soon, or if you only need the most basic features available.

Is ZoomInfo suitable for individual prospecting?

No. First, you need to be a registered company if you want to do business with ZoomInfo. So, if you’re a freelancer or solopreneur, you won’t be able to use it. If you’re a small business, you may find the high starting price point and long commitment a bit too much, especially if you only prospect occasionally.

How do ZoomInfo’s packages work?

ZoomInfo offers 3 packages.

Sales , which we cover in this article, offers access to the contact database, company insights, and intent signals, as well as apps and integrations. It has 3 pricing tiers: Professional+, Advanced+ and Elite+. The plans scale based on contact data depth and breadth.

Marketing lets you extract more advanced insights from the data, also enabling solutions for display advertising and website integrations. It also has three pricing tiers: Demand, Advertising, and ABM. The plans scale based on the number of integrated marketing channels and data depth.

Talent helps you search for the best candidates for your currently open positions. There’s no information available online about pricing tiers.

How much are ZoomInfo’s features and integrations?

The prices vary depending on how many suites you want to use (Sales, Marketing, or Talent) and how many add-ons you want to enable (Chorus, Chat, Engage, or others).

ZoomInfo integrates with dozens of popular apps natively, but if yours are not on the list, you’ll have to hire a developer to integrate them via API. The main platform doesn’t integrate with Zapier—only the Chorus add-on—so this can also limit the data sync and automation opportunities.

What is ZoomInfo’s API pricing?

The available API endpoints exist only to integrate ZoomInfo with other apps. ZoomInfo doesn’t sell access to its contact database data via API, so there’s no pricing for that service.

Overview of zoominfo pricing.

In the increasingly competitive landscape, lower price-point vendors challenge ZoomInfo’s pricing model and data.

Some ZoomInfo users are dissatisfied with ZoomInfo’s lack of innovation and failure to follow industry trends. For example, ZoomInfo’s upmarket pricing and contract model aren’t aligned with organisations in the growth stages, leaving the market open for ZoomInfo alternatives to fill that space.

In this article, we won’t speculate about how much ZoomInfo is. But we’ll focus on explaining what determines the platform’s cost.

How much does ZoomInfo cost?

ZoomInfo’s pricing isn’t available on its website. You need to schedule a call with the sales team to learn the exact ZoomInfo licence cost.

Reddit users report the entry-level ZoomInfo price is $15,000 for three seats when signing up for a 2-year contract. However, the ZoomInfo cost increases depending on a variety of factors. The main factors that influence ZoomInfo pricing are:

  • Credit usage.
  • Features and capabilities.
  • Number of licenses.

What is ZoomInfo pricing based on?

ZoomInfo pricing is based on a credit system. Each plan includes a set number of monthly credits. ZoomInfo’s basic package includes credits with traditional demographic and firmographic details.

If you require more in-depth data, such as technographics, department budgets, org charts, and real-time alerts related to company events, like funding rounds and product launches, you will need to opt for one of the higher tier plans.

What are the disadvantages of ZoomInfo pricing?

Credit-based pricing, like ZoomInfo’s, with limits on viewing and exporting data, monthly caps, and resets, forces you to decide where to allocate resources and may lead to unexpected costs. If reps consume allocated credits too fast, you may have to purchase additional credits.

Sales reps focus on tracing credit consumption and developing best practices for credit usage instead of prospecting and finding new opportunities. It also limits reps’ ability to create multi-thread conversations with company decision-makers, which may lead to lost opportunities.

Also, ZoomInfo plans charge a credit for every company and contact export. It means users may use double the credits without realising if the account isn’t already in their CRM.

Additionally, when you expand to a new region, you will have to buy ‘data add-ons’, such as  Global Data Passports (Global, Europe, North America Plus). Higher costs often restrict your market research and testing of new audiences, which may lead to lost revenue. Learn more about ZoomInfo's international data .

Cognism removes pain points with ZoomInfo pricing

How much does it cost per user?

Costs differ depending on the license type and the needs of your sales team. All license types include unrestricted access to data and individual & page-level exports (up to 25 profiles at a time). It’s subject to a generous fair usage policy .

Do integrations cost extra?

Unlike other vendors, integrations are included in every package. Cognism integrates with popular CRMs and Sales Engagement tools such as Salesforce, Hubspot, Outreach , and SalesLoft.

How do ZoomInfo credits work?

Credits are consumed when you export:

  • And/or contact information.

Each export costs one credit so if the account isn’t already in your CRM, you’ll use double the credits. Consequently, you may consume credits at double the rate. It may lead to unexpected costs if your team needs to buy extra credits.

How much are ZoomInfo’s features and integrations?

ZoomInfo costs increase when you add integrations and extra solutions to the platform. Out-of-the-box integrations such as CRM, sales automation software, and marketing automation tools have a base cost to use and install.

According to ZoomInfo’s pricing page, pre-packaged integrations usually require a minimum purchase of bulk credits for immediate use upon installation. You will need to buy additional credits if you consume more credits than you originally purchased.

Adding extra features also increases the price of your ZoomInfo package.

For example, if you want real-time visibility into when companies are actively searching for your products and services, you can add Streaming Intent data to your package. ZoomInfo pricing is based on expected usage—around the volume of keywords you’re tracking.

Is ZoomInfo pricing suitable for individual prospecting?

ZoomInfo pricing isn’t designed for solo prospectors or companies on a budget. They don’t offer single licences. ZoomInfo’s entry-level pricing might be too high for many SMBs, and midsize businesses  might struggle to see the return on investment.

Looking for a more flexible pricing model?

Cognism offers two license types: Platinum & Diamond.

Psst... Our Diamond licence with phone-verified mobile numbers and intent data helps companies get more results with fewer calls.

Cognism pricing packages vs ZoomInfo pricing

How much is ZoomInfo per month?

The vendor doesn’t offer monthly subscriptions. ZoomInfo's overall monthly cost may vary depending on how many credits your team consumes. For example, if credits burn out too quickly, you can purchase additional bulk credits for an extra cost.

The company requires signing long-term contracts. But you can negotiate different payment options and frequency (e.g. quarterly) depending on your package, add-on features, and the number of users with its sales team.

Does ZoomInfo offer a free trial?

When considering a ZoomInfo subscription, it’s only fair to want to test the platform’s data. While ZoomInfo offers a free trial on all plans, they don’t mention the trial duration on their website. Users have confirmed that the ZoomInfo trial period lasts for three to five days, with a license given to two or three people.

How to cancel the ZoomInfo contract?

If you’re a ZoomInfo customer and want to terminate your contract, you need to provide notice that you wish to cancel at least  60 days before the end of the term. Otherwise, you will be forced to renew for another year.

Like many companies, ZoomInfo uses evergreen renewal policies. But G2 ZoomInfo reviewers warn that ZoomInfo didn’t notify them before being locked into another contract term.

ZoomInfo reviews on G2 from 2023 suggest ZoomInfo contracts may be  auto-renewed with 20% increase . Therefore, any pricing you secure with ZoomInfo may be different at renewal.

Another  G2 reviewer suggests  your renewed contract will require you to order what you did last year, including any additions you added through the year.

How is ZoomInfo cost calculated?

How much is ZoomInfo? It’s a complicated question, even though it shouldn’t be! ZoomInfo pricing depends on many variables, such as the number of licenses, credit usage, whether you require global data, and extra features you require (e.g. chat, form complete, etc) and integrations.

If you’re looking for a provider with simpler and more transparent pricing and access to global data, check out the Cognism vs ZoomInfo  comparison page.

Is ZoomInfo worth the price?

According to the latest findings from CB Insights survey , it appears customer sentiments about ZoomInfo are beginning to change. The prospective buyers mention different challenges like ZoomInfo pricing and lack of product innovation. Here are some quotes:

A VP of a Fortune 500 subsidiary surveyed by CB Insights said :

”The biggest challenge ZoomInfo faces each and every year when it comes to renewal is the price tag; especially for the additional intent services, which are in the five-digit range. Pricing is definitely the highest challenge.”

Another Pavilion member cited in the CB Insights survey said :

“We know ZoomInfo has been busy on big acquisitions and integrations, offering different capabilities. However, the core product we bought from them has stood still.”

We interviewed Michael Iannuzzi, Director of Marketing & Sales Development at Drift, who used ZoomInfo and LeadIQ before switching to Cognism:

“Enriching data points through other tools takes forever with ZoomInfo being one. The business tries to do everything to accommodate everyone. For a lot of companies that makes sense but in our case, we just want accurate information fast.

Cognism is like a lightning bolt when it comes to keeping information up-to-date. Here’s an example: when a lead moves roles or gets a promotion, other providers often delay updating this in the system. Whereas Cognism’s updates this instantly and most of the time the information is spot on.”

How Much Does it Cost to Start a Business?

Author: Tim Berry

8 min. read

Updated April 25, 2024

What will it cost to start your business? This is a key question for anyone thinking about starting out on their own. You’ll want to spend some time figuring this out so you know how much money you need to raise and whether you can afford to get your business off the ground.

Most importantly, you’ll want to figure out how much cash you’re going to need in the bank to keep your business afloat as you grow your sales during the early days of your business.

Typical startup costs can vary depending on whether you’re operating a  brick-and-mortar store, online store, or service operation . However, a common theme is that launching a successful business requires preparation.

And while you may not know exactly what those expenses will be, you can and should begin researching and estimating what it will cost to start your business.

  • How to determine your startup costs

Like when developing your  business plan , or  forecasting  your initial sales, it’s a mixture of  market research ,  testing , and informed guessing. Looking at your competitors is a good starting point. Once you feel your initial estimates are in the ballpark, you can start to get more specific by making these three simple lists.

1. Startup expenses

These are expenses that happen before you launch and start bringing in any revenue. Here are some examples:

  • Permits and Licenses: Every business needs a license to operate, just like a driver needs one to drive. Costs vary depending on industry and location.
  • Legal Fees: Getting your business structure set up (sole proprietorship, LLC, etc.) might involve consulting a lawyer and at least will involve the basic business formation fees.
  • Insurance: Accidents happen, and insurance protects your business from unforeseen bumps.
  • Marketing and Branding: The ways to spread the word about your product or service. They could involve creating a website, creating business cards, or promoting social media.
  • Office Supplies : Pens, paperclips, that all-important stapler – the essentials to keep your business humming.
  • Rent/Lease: If you need to rent space for your business before you start selling, include those expenses in your list as well.

2. Startup assets

Next, calculate the total you need to spend on assets to get your business off the ground. Assets are larger purchases that have long-term value. They’re typically significant items that you could resell later if you needed or wanted to.

Here are a few examples:

  • Equipment:  Think ovens for a bakery, cameras for a photography business, or computers for a tech startup.
  • Inventory:  If you’re selling products, you’ll need to stock up before opening your doors (or your online store).
  • Furniture and Decorations:  Desks, chairs, that comfy couch in the waiting room – creating a functional and inviting workspace might involve some upfront investment.
  • Vehicles: If your business requires a vehicle to deliver your product or service, be sure to account for that purchase here.

Why separate assets and expenses?

There’s a reason that you should separate costs into assets and expenses. Expenses are deductible against income, so they reduce taxable income. Assets, on the other hand, are not deductible against income.

By initially separating the two, you potentially save yourself money on taxes. Additionally, by accurately accounting for expenses, you can avoid overstating your assets on the balance sheet. While typically having more assets is a better look, having assets that are useless or unfounded only bloats your books and potentially makes them inaccurate.

Listing these out separately is good practice when  starting a business  and leads into the final piece to consider when determining startup costs.

3. Operating Expenses

Finally, figure out what it’s going to cost to keep your doors open until sales can cover expenses. Create a list that estimates monthly expenses, such as:

  • Payroll (including your own salary)
  • Marketing and advertising
  • Loan payments
  • Insurance premiums
  • Office supplies
  • Professional services
  • Travel costs
  • Shipping and distribution

Then, based on your revenue forecasts , calculate how many months it will take before your sales can cover all those monthly expenses. Multiply that number of months by your monthly operating expenses to determine how much you’re going to need to cover operating expenses as your business starts.

This number is often called “ cash runway ” and is a critical number – you need enough cash to fund those early red ink months. This number is how much cash you need to have in your checking account when you open your doors for business.

Calculating how much startup cash you need

To figure out how much money you need to start your business, add the asset purchases, startup expenses, and operating expenses over your cash runway period. This is your total startup costs, and it’s better to overestimate than underestimate these costs.

It often makes sense to invest the time to build a slightly more detailed starting costs calculation. Assuming you start making some sales and those sales grow over time, your revenue will be able to help pay for some of your operating expenses. Ideally, your sales contribute more and more over time until you become profitable.

To do a more detailed calculation, you’ll want to invest the time in a detailed financial forecast where you can experiment with different scenarios. If you do this, you’ll be able to see how much it will cost to start your business with different revenue growth rates. You’ll also be able to experiment with different funding scenarios and what your business would look like with different types of loans.

  • Funding Starting Costs

You can cover starting costs on your own, or through a combination of loans and investments.

Many entrepreneurs decide they want to raise more cash than they need so they’ll have money left over for contingencies. While that makes good sense when you can do it, it is difficult to explain that to investors. Outside investors don’t want to give you more money than you need, because it’s their money.

You may see experts who recommend having anywhere from six months to a year’s worth of expenses covered, with your starting cash. That’s nice in concept and would be great for peace of mind, but it’s rarely practical. And it interferes with your estimates and dilutes their value.

Of course, startup financing isn’t technically part of the starting costs estimate. But in the real world, to get started, you need to estimate the starting costs and determine what startup financing will be necessary to cover them. The type of financing you pursue may alter your startup or ongoing costs in a given period, so it’s important to consider this upfront.

Here are common financing options to consider:

  • Investment : What you or someone else puts into the company. It ends up as paid-in capital in the  balance sheet . This is the classic concept of business investment, taking ownership in a company, risking money in the hope of gaining money later.
  • Accounts payable : Debts that are outstanding or need to be paid after a certain time according to your balance sheet. Generally, this means credit-card debt. This number becomes the starting balance of your balance sheet.
  • Current borrowing : Standard debt, borrowing from banks,  Small Business Administration , or other current borrowing.
  • Other current liabilities : Additional liabilities that don’t have interest charges. This is where you put loans from founders, family members, or friends. We aren’t recommending interest-free loans for financing, by the way, but when they happen, this is where they go.
  • Long-term liabilities : Long-term debt or long-term loans.
  • Other considerations for estimating startup costs

Pre-launch versus normal operations

With our definition of starting costs, the launch date is the defining point. Rent and payroll expenses before launch are considered startup expenses. The same expenses after launch are considered operating or ongoing expenses.

Many companies also incur some payroll expenses before launch because they need to hire people to train before launch, develop their website, stock shelves, and so forth.

Further Reading: How to calculate the hourly cost of an employee

The same defining point affects assets as well. For example, amounts in inventory purchased before launch and available at launch are included in starting assets. Inventory purchased after launch will affect  cash flow , and the balance sheet; but isn’t considered part of the starting costs.

So, be sure to accurately define the cutoff for startup costs and operating expenses. Again, by outlining everything within specific categories, this transition should be simple and easy to keep track of.

Your launch month will likely be the start of your business’s fiscal year

The establishment of a standard fiscal year plays a role in your analysis. U.S. tax code allows most businesses to manage taxes based on a fiscal year, which can be any series of 12 months, not necessarily January through December.

It can be convenient to establish the fiscal year as starting the same month that the business launches. In this case, the startup costs and startup funding match the fiscal year—and they happen in the time before the launch and beginning of the first operational fiscal year. The pre-launch transactions are reported as a separate tax year, even if they occur in just a few months, or even one month. So the last month of the pre-launch period is also the last month of the fiscal year.

  • Aim for long-term success by estimating startup costs

Make sure you’ve considered every aspect of your business and included related costs. You’ll have a better chance at securing loans, attracting investors, estimating profits, and understanding the cash runway of your business.

The more accurately you layout startup costs and make adjustments as you incur them, the more accurate vision you’ll have for the immediate future of your business.

Tesla board chair explains what could happen if Elon Musk's pay package is rejected

  • Tesla  board chair discussed what could happen if Elon Musk's pay package is rejected.
  • Robyn Denholm said a new plan could cost an extra $25 billion worth of stock-based compensation.
  • She said she doesn't expect Musk to sue Tesla, but it's a possibility.

Insider Today

The vote for Elon Musk's hotly debated $55 billion pay package is next week.

The compensation plan, originally put into place in 2018, was struck down earlier this year by a Delaware judge who said the billionaire had undue influence over the board because of close ties to some of its members.

Tesla is now putting Musk's pay package to a shareholder vote on June 13 in an effort to reinstate it. So what will happen if it isn't approved?

Tesla board chair Robyn Denholm said in an interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Thursday that there are multiple possibilities. The board has considered options such as creating a new pay plan — but she said that could end up costing shareholders more.

Denholm argued that the compensation tied to the 2018 pay package, which was worth an estimated $2.3 billion in stock-based compensation charges at the time, had already been paid out. Rejecting the plan wouldn't change that.

But if the shareholders overturn the 2018 pay plan, and Tesla were to craft a new plan with the same stock grants, they would cost around $25 billion worth of stock-based compensation today.

When asked if whether Elon Musk could ultimately sue Tesla if shareholders reject ratification, Denholm said it was "possible," but she didn't know how probable it would be.

Related stories

"Well, the good part about the legal system in the US is anybody can sue anybody," Denholm said. But Denholm said at this point, it wasn't something that Musk had brought up to the board.

The Tesla board chair said while there may be other options, they would lead to increased costs or decreased motivation from Musk.

Denholm said the CEO has worked incredibly hard over the last six years to lead the company to "transformative growth." While shareholders and customers have both benefited, Musk himself hasn't received compensation.

"Ratifying the plan is the best option," Denholm said. "Clearly, if it doesn't pass, then there are other alternatives, but none of them are as good from a shareholder perspective as actually ratifying the plan."

There's also no guarantee that the pay plan will survive even if shareholders do ratify it on June 13. The Delaware court system could rule that it's still invalid.

Denholm said if that were to happen, it would be "detrimental" to shareholders, which is another reason she said they were fighting so hard to get it ratified.

"Well that is possible," she said. "But quite frankly, if you sit back, that is actually quite detrimental from a shareholder policy perspective."

"Shareholder votes have been pretty sacrosanct from a Delaware law perspective, from a corporate America perspective, from a legal system," she said.

Advocates for and against ratifying Musk's pay package have been ramping up their arguments in recent weeks. Several investment firms urged shareholders to vote against it, most recently the CEO of the California Public Employees' Retirement System.

Meanwhile, Tesla's board and prominent shareholders like Ron Baron have been actively campaigning for its approval, arguing that it is fair and necessary to keep the CEO's focus on Tesla.

Musk does not earn a salary and his compensation relies on the company's performance with specific metrics defined in 2018.

The executive pay plan involves a 10-year grant of 12 tranches of stock options that are vested when Tesla hits specific milestones. Once the company hits each target, Musk gets stock equal to 1% of outstanding shares at the time of the grant. Tesla said it hit all 12 goalposts as of 2023.

What this free business plan template includes

  • Executive summary
  • Company overview
  • Products or services offered
  • Market analysis
  • Marketing plan
  • Logistics and operations plan
  • Financial plan

This business plan outline is designed to ensure you’re thinking through all of the important facets of starting a new business. It’s intended to help new business owners and entrepreneurs consider the full scope of running a business and identify functional areas they may not have considered or where they may need to level up their skills as they grow.

That said, it may not include the specific details or structure preferred by a potential investor or lender. If your goal with a business plan is to secure funding , check with your target organizations—typically banks or investors—to see if they have business plan templates you can follow to maximize your chances of success.

Our free business plan template includes seven key elements typically found in the traditional business plan format:

1. Executive summary

This is a one-page summary of your whole plan, typically written after the rest of the plan is completed. The description section of your executive summary will also cover your management team, business objectives and strategy, and other background information about the brand.

2. Company overview

This section of your business plan will answer two fundamental questions: “Who are you?” and “What do you plan to do?” Answering these questions clarifies why your company exists, what sets it apart from others, and why it’s a good investment opportunity. This section will detail the reasons for your business’s existence, its goals, and its guiding principles.

3. Products or services offered

What you sell and the most important features of your products or services. It also includes any plans for intellectual property, like patent filings or copyright. If you do market research for new product lines, it will show up in this section of your business plan.

4. Market analysis

This section includes everything from estimated market size to your target markets and competitive advantage. It’ll include a competitive analysis of your industry to address competitors’ strengths and weaknesses. Market research is an important part of ensuring you have a viable idea.

5. Marketing plan

How you intend to get the word out about your business, and what strategic decisions you’ve made about things like your pricing strategy. It also covers potential customers’ demographics, your sales plan, and your metrics and milestones for success.

6. Logistics and operations plan

Everything that needs to happen to turn your raw materials into products and get them into the hands of your customers.

7. Financial plan

It’s important to include a look at your financial projections, including both revenue and expense projections. This section includes templates for three key financial statements: an income statement, a balance sheet, and a cash-flow statement . You can also include whether or not you need a business loan and how much you’ll need.

Business plan examples

What do financial projections look like on paper? How do you write an executive summary? What should your company description include?  Business plan examples  can help answer some of these questions and transform your business idea into an actionable plan.

Professional business plan example

Inside our template, we’ve filled out a sample business plan featuring a fictional ecommerce business .

The sample is set up to help you get a sense of each section and understand how they apply to the planning and evaluation stages of a business plan. If you’re looking for funding, this example won’t be a complete or formal look at business plans, but it will give you a great place to start and notes about where to expand.

A lean business plan format is a shortened version of your more detailed business plan. It’s helpful when modifying your plan for a specific audience, like investors or new hires.

Also known as a one-page business plan, it includes only the most important, need-to-know information, such as:

  • Company description
  • Key members of your team
  • Customer segments

Benefits of writing a solid business plan

It’s tempting to dive right into execution when you’re excited about a new business or side project, but taking the time to write a thorough business plan and get your thoughts on paper allows you to do a number of beneficial things:

  • Test the viability of your business idea. Whether you’ve got one business idea or many, business plans can make an idea more tangible, helping you see if it’s truly viable and ensure you’ve found a target market.
  • Plan for your next phase. Whether your goal is to start a new business or scale an existing business to the next level, a business plan can help you understand what needs to happen and identify gaps to address.
  • Clarify marketing strategy, goals, and tactics. Writing a business plan can show you the actionable next steps to take on a big, abstract idea. It can also help you narrow your strategy and identify clear-cut tactics that will support it.
  • Scope the necessary work. Without a concrete plan, cost overruns and delays are all but certain. A business plan can help you see the full scope of work to be done and adjust your investment of time and money accordingly.
  • Hire and build partnerships. When you need buy-in from potential employees and business partners, especially in the early stages of your business, a clearly written business plan is one of the best tools at your disposal. A business plan provides a refined look at your goals for the business, letting partners judge for themselves whether or not they agree with your vision.
  • Secure funds. Seeking financing for your business—whether from venture capital, financial institutions, or Shopify Capital —is one of the most common reasons to create a business plan.

Why you should you use a template for a business plan

A business plan can be as informal or formal as your situation calls for, but even if you’re a fan of the back-of-the-napkin approach to planning, there are some key benefits to starting your plan from an existing outline or simple business plan template.

No blank-page paralysis

A blank page can be intimidating to even the most seasoned writers. Using an established business planning process and template can help you get past the inertia of starting your business plan, and it allows you to skip the work of building an outline from scratch. You can always adjust a template to suit your needs.

Guidance on what to include in each section

If you’ve never sat through a business class, you might never have created a SWOT analysis or financial projections. Templates that offer guidance—in plain language—about how to fill in each section can help you navigate sometimes-daunting business jargon and create a complete and effective plan.

Knowing you’ve considered every section

In some cases, you may not need to complete every section of a startup business plan template, but its initial structure shows you you’re choosing to omit a section as opposed to forgetting to include it in the first place.

Tips for creating a successful business plan

There are some high-level strategic guidelines beyond the advice included in this free business plan template that can help you write an effective, complete plan while minimizing busywork.

Understand the audience for your plan

If you’re writing a business plan for yourself in order to get clarity on your ideas and your industry as a whole, you may not need to include the same level of detail or polish you would with a business plan you want to send to potential investors. Knowing who will read your plan will help you decide how much time to spend on it.

Know your goals

Understanding the goals of your plan can help you set the right scope. If your goal is to use the plan as a roadmap for growth, you may invest more time in it than if your goal is to understand the competitive landscape of a new industry.

Take it step by step

Writing a 10- to 15-page document can feel daunting, so try to tackle one section at a time. Select a couple of sections you feel most confident writing and start there—you can start on the next few sections once those are complete. Jot down bullet-point notes in each section before you start writing to organize your thoughts and streamline the writing process.

Maximize your business planning efforts

Planning is key to the financial success of any type of business , whether you’re a startup, non-profit, or corporation.

To make sure your efforts are focused on the highest-value parts of your own business planning, like clarifying your goals, setting a strategy, and understanding the target market and competitive landscape, lean on a business plan outline to handle the structure and format for you. Even if you eventually omit sections, you’ll save yourself time and energy by starting with a framework already in place.

Home Insurance Is Clobbering Consumers. Yet It’s Barely Counted in Inflation.

Skyrocketing premiums are hitting homeowners hard, but they barely factor into common price measures.

Two houses next to each other, sharing a walkway leading to a backyard.

By Jeanna Smialek

Jeanna Smialek, an economics reporter, reported this article from just outside Jacksonville, Fla., and from Washington.

Holly Meyer Lucas estimates that as many as 30 of the 100 houses her real estate team sold in and around Jupiter, Fla., last year were put on the market because their owners could no longer keep up with skyrocketing home insurance.

“It is the housing crisis that nobody is talking about,” Ms. Meyer Lucas said. The houses sold easily, but often to well-off cash buyers who could drop the insurance altogether because they did not have a mortgage that required them to carry it.

Jumping insurance rates are acute in coastal Florida, with its exposure to big risks like hurricanes and coastal erosion, but they are also a nationwide phenomenon . Last year, premium rates for owner-occupied housing were up 11.3 percent on average nationally, based on data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Insurance rates have been climbing for a number of reasons: Storms have become more frequent and severe, inflation and labor shortages have driven up the cost of repairs and home values have increased, requiring larger policies. The biggest jumps occurred in Texas, Arizona and Utah, which were among 25 states in total that posted double-digit surges last year. In some places, including Florida, rates are up more than 40 percent over the past five years.

That can add up to a major additional annual expense for owners: The typical single-family homeowner with a mortgage backed by Freddie Mac was paying $1,522 in 2023, up from $1,081 in 2018. And that’s simply an average. Anecdotally, many people report seeing their premiums jump by thousands of dollars.

Those higher insurance rates are bringing pain to many homeowners, forcing people out of their homes and communities while leaving others taking big risks as they drop insurance altogether. But the rising costs are not meaningfully boosting the nation’s official inflation data, which could help to explain a small part of the disconnect between how people feel about the economy and how it looks on paper. Economic confidence remains depressed and consumers continue to fret about high price levels, dogging the Biden administration, even though inflation has been cooling and the job market is strong.

Microsoft 365 Family and Personal

Personal and family subscriptions are ideal for personal use like home, personal, or family projects and school related activities.

Do you need both a business plan and a personal plan?

In some cases, a single Microsoft 365 plan will suit all your needs, but there might be instances when having both plans is the correct decision for you.

For example, you may want to keep your personal files, photos, and other documents separate from your business, having two plans will allow you to do this.

Additionally, if you already have Microsoft 365 Family that you're sharing with friends and family who aren't part of your business, keeping that personal subscription might be the best thing for everyone. This means you don't have to move anyone off that plan, and you don't have to worry about any personal files you already have associated with that subscription and your personal account.

Switch from a personal Microsoft 365 subscription to Microsoft 365 for business

Have you already been using Microsoft 365 Family or Personal for your business and now you're ready to switch your business to Microsoft 365 for business?
