Describe a useful website you have visited.

You may say

  • What is the website?
  • About the website.
  • Why it is useful for me?

Sample Answer 1

I use different websites for various purposes. But, mostly, I am curious about the website Google. It is one of the most exciting and impactful search engines I have ever seen.

Google is the most popular website, and it helps reduce our thinking and mental strain. It has lots of features that make our everyday life comfortable. We can watch lots of videos, and images, read multifarious articles, and newspapers, and learn about diverse things. If one searches any information link, it gives details about various other websites related to it. The information and sources are very relevant and up to the mark. There is no copyright issue on these websites. We can find every kind of information just by searching effortlessly and making people’s lives easier. Google has lots of new features that are very interesting to learn. This website is used by people worldwide as it provides accurate data with easy readability and perfection. It fetches correct information with links and sublinks. This website is more organized with new functionality, security, and privacy. Additionally, we can store our data with complete trust in this website.

When I was in class 3, I started using Google, which helped me research miscellaneous topics not present in the book. Even now, I need Google as support at every moment in my life. It has made reference work easy for me. Moreover, this search portal is the best website for storybooks, magazines, academic books, and comics, etc.

Sample Answer 2

The technology and the advancements in digitization have surely brought plenty of revolutions. Today, you can easily find an array of websites serving varying purposes. However, if I had to name one useful site that I often visit, it would be YouTube.

With its significant establishment across the world, almost everybody is familiar with the fact that YouTube is a video-sharing website. Generally, users upload their videos on this platform and reach a wider set of audience. Right from well-established companies to newbie individuals, everybody and anybody can upload a video on this channel. Also, there are no restrictions in terms of the types of videos to be posted either. Every 24 hours, 30 million users log on to the YouTube site. Also, in a single day, people watch 1 billion hours of content each day. After its inception back in 2005, YouTube was purchased by Google in 2006 for a whopping amount of $1.50 billion.

One of the reasons behind this site is useful for everybody is because it features a huge amount of content. Whether you want answers to complex questions or learn a new skill, with YouTube, you can do wonders. Moreover, if you are a creator, you can upload videos on YouTube and earn a significant amount each month.

Sample Answer 3

The complications of languages have always enticed me. As a result, I have tried to learn as many languages as possible, though I have been mostly unsuccessful due to limited scope until recently. Seeing me so eager to learn, one of my friends suggested I look into Duolingo, a website specialized in teaching the most popular foreign languages.

Since I got to know about this website, I have spent most of my leisure on this website. Although there are set daily goals for each language, I am learning more than one language simultaneously. There are advanced courses as well as courses designed for beginners like me in more than 25 languages. Each word has recorded pronunciations and corresponding pictures, making learning very convenient. There are ten levels of tests that are also easy to understand and the goals based on various common topics are efficiently completed. I have learned quite a bit of Spanish, German, and Arabic by now.

As mentioned earlier, I am a language enthusiast, and this website has been of great help to me. Now, there is an application for the same, but I prefer to work on the website. After a long time, I have got the opportunity to tick off some of my wishes from the list due to this website. What is more encouraging is that I can learn from any place, at any time, by just signing up. Apart from that, there are paid courses as well if one is interested. There is no inconvenience of attending physical classes, fees, travel, etc.

Unlocking the mysteries of IELTS Cue Cards is a journey through the realm of language proficiency like no other. Embellished with prompts and questions, these cards act as doors to your linguistics and conversational house of horror. They are, after all, speaking challenges in an IELTS exam to which you must rise. In this paper, we explore the world of Cue Cards in depth. We examine their nuances, explore strategies for mastering them, and illuminate possible answers in an engaging and thought-provoking way to achieve your potential.

With every step of the way, from card prompts to elocution-rich responses full of personality and style, every moment serves an educational purpose to help you grow. Enlist our help, and we will provide the key to the castle, an instrumental component in leaving the exam chambers speechless and achieving your desired high score. First, let’s start by outlining what IELTS is.

What is IELTS?

IELTS , or the International English Language Testing System, is an internationally recognised standardised test to measure the English language proficiency of people who do not speak English natively. The British Council, IDP, developed IELTS: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, testing takers’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities. The test is frequently administered for academic admission, immigration visa, and work admission in English-speaking countries. The test is available in Academic and General Training formats, catering to different purposes such as academic admission or immigration. IELTS scores are reported on a scale from 1 (Non-user) to 9 (Expert user) and are valid for two years.

What is an IELTS Cue Card?

The IELTS Cue Card is one of the speaking tests in the IELTS test where examinees are given a particular topic to speech for 1-2 minutes. The examiner provides a cue card with prompts or questions on a specific subject. The speaking time allotted to read and plan the speaking is one minute. This speaking task aims to evaluate the candidate’s speech, flow, and content. Examinees must correctly address each question and sub-question quickly and give as many details as possible, expressing themselves vividly based on the instructive point of view.

Why are IELTS Cue Cards Important?

  • Enhancing Speaking Fluency: Cue Cards provide a forum for candidates to work on their spontaneous speech skills. Thus making them fluent and coherent communicators. The time factor is another essential element in reproducing actual communication scenarios. There, immediate thinking and articulating are the keys to success.
  • Broadening Topic Familiarization: By addressing a broad spectrum of issues that can be personal or abstract, Cue Cards allow candidates to experience various content areas that college students will encounter in academic, professional, or social settings. Such conditions encourage contenders to develop into skilful communicators capable of discussing different subjects in general and specific issues.
  • Facilitating Vocabulary Expansion: On each Cue Card specifically tailored to the topic, the candidates are prompted to address the given topic using specialised vocabulary and idiomatic expressions relating to the topic. In this way, they expand their vocabulary and, more importantly, learn to choose the most suitable language for a given situation.
  • Developing Organizational Skills: Discussion of Cue Cards requires candidates to be articulate and well-organized within a limited time. This leads to the growth of the ability to organise the work, which includes thinking over the list of ideas, bulking up the main part and presenting them logically - a skill that is highly in demand while communicating academically and professionally.
  • Aligning with Assessment Criteria: The card responses are evaluated from the established criteria, which include coherence, fluency, lexical resources, pronunciation, and not forgetting intonation. Consequently, Cue Card tasks help candidates understand what is expected of them and adapt their answers to the proficiency level of the assessors, which in turn is a valuable asset on the path to getting excellent results in the IELTS speaking part.

Sample/Follow-up Questions and Their Answers

What is the significance of the ielts cue card.

In this cue card of IELTS, you are evaluated by how efficiently you use your language, maintain coherence, and hold yourself confidently within a time limit. They make sure that students' speaking skills are improved, and they have to get familiar with the topics, expand their vocabulary, develop their organisation skills and be in line with the assessment criteria.

What is the reason behind the fact that people all over the world use the Internet to communicate more and more?

The Internet has many benefits and reasons for being utilised by people for communications. Among the reasons that this invention gives us convenience in the first place is that we can communicate with each other very easily regardless of whether we are living in different places or engaged in walking, running, sleeping, or flying. Firstly, internet communication is so low cost, and since it is way cheaper than the number of advantages it carries, people from any segment of society with little or no money fear could participate in it.

What will be my organizational technique while answering to an IELTS Cue Card?

Start with the introduction, where you will present the website and then explain the content and features and how they are useful. In the end, you should provide your summary of the key points. Apply the given model answers as the design for developing your essay so that you can properly structure the content.

Is this the language I should use in my cue card in the speaking section?

It is essential to use the word with a variety of vocabulary but to make your speech clear and coherent, it is no less important. Your language should be natural and clear and ensure your words exactly express what you intend to convey. Don’t use too complex terms if they could only confuse your message, and you don’t want that to happen.

How can I elaborate my point really well in my cue card response?

Now consider extending your discussion by introducing more specifics, illustrations or stories relevant to the topic itself. This may be the feature which added in your answer and elucidated it more for the examiner. Nonetheless, be aware of the time restriction and remember that your expansion should not take away the main essence of your sentence but rather be in line with the topic of discussion.

What can I do to prepare well for the speaking test and use my time wisely?

Prudence is the key to success, so practice speaking to the cue card prompts and timing yourself to gauge how to pace your speech well. Taking in account the introduction, description, and conclusion within the given timeframe, pay enough time on it.

Tips to Answer IELTS Cue Card

  • Understand the Topic: Take a moment to realize the essential aspects of the situation you would like to cover. Make sure that the questions or the prompt is understood carefully before you write your response so that you can include all the necessary information.
  • Brainstorm Ideas: Make use of the one-minute duration for planning your topic. The way you present your thoughts and organize the structure of your response should be clear and coherent.
  • Speak Naturally: In your response, try to attain a conversational tone and keep the content clear. It is better to sound natural instead of being robotic or using a script. Convey your ideas in simple language and use suitable expressions that can be easily understood.
  • Expand on Details: Use the detailed information concerning your argument, like an example or an experience of yours, to support your positions. This makes them more “meaty” and attracts the examiner’s attention.
  • Manage Time Wisely: Remember about the time limit and speak so that you are in time. The key is to be able to say everything clearly, without rushing or going fast in order to cut any point. Practice the piece beforehand to check the tempo and way you say your sentences.
  • Monitor Pronunciation and Fluency: Be attentive to your articulation, time and the tone with which you speak. Make sure that you talk clearly and beautifully; do not make the words slurred – create the atmosphere to convey information best.
  • Stay Calm and Confident: Show the examiner that you are confident of what you are talking about during your test. Just try to stay confident and speak in a confident voice – this is the only.

Describe a Website [IELTS Speaking Part 2]

Describe a Website [IELTS Speaking Part 2]

These days, the internet is a massive part of the lives of people all over the world and so you will quite often be asked to talk about it for IELTS. There are many ways that it could appear in the exam, but today we are going to look at another cue card from IELTS speaking part 2. This time, it will ask you to describe a website .

In this article, I will try to outline all the things that you need to know in order to give a good answer to this question. I will show you how to analyse the cue card, make notes, pick the right language to use, and then I will give you my own sample answer for this question.

Table of Contents

The cue card: describe a website, analysing the cue card, language for describing websites, making notes about the cue card, sample band 9 answer.

It is impossible to anticipate the cue cards that you will encounter in the IELTS exam and only lazy and dishonest teachers pretend that they can do it. As such, you just need to look at common types of cue card and practice them. If you do this, then the cue cards that you encounter in the real IELTS exam will not seem so strange or difficult .

It is possible to be asked various versions of this question. For example:

  • describe a website you have bought something from
  • describe a website you often browse
  • describe a website you often visit

Here are a few other possible variants on this idea:

describe a website for ielts

That is just a few of them and there are in fact many, many more possibilities. This is one reason why you cannot just memorise an answer for IELTS. Some of my former students tried this and struggled badly because they would say “A website I really like is…” but this is not always what the question intends.

Here is the cue card that we will use today:

Describe a useful website. You should say: – what it is – how often you visit it – what kind of information it offers and explain why you think it is useful.

The most important part of any cue card is the first line. This is what you must adhere to closely. Note that all the different cue cards that I suggested are slightly different in terms of what you must actually describe. It could even be something like “describe a website that you really like” or “describe a website that you would like to design.” Those would require a totally different answer, so it’s really important that you read carefully and don’t just note the word WEBSITE .

The information that follows is also quite important and you should look out for keywords: “what,” “how often,” “what kind of information,” and “why… useful.”

describe a useful website cue card

So… let’s review:

  • Can you describe any website? No, it must be a useful one.
  • You must explain what it is – i.e. describe its functions.
  • State the approximate number of times that you use it.
  • Talk about the information available on the website.
  • Explain why it is useful, in your opinion.

You can say other things about it but you don’t have to. I would recommend talking about the things on the cue card first of all, and if you find you run through these ideas too quickly, then you can say some other things.

Don’t worry if you are not a computer programmer – you don’t need to be an expert to answer any of the questions in the IELTS speaking test! Knowledge of web design might be helpful for you with this question, but it is certainly not essential.

First of all, there is some language about technology here that might be useful for you:

This is a video that I made for my students several years ago. It contains some up-to-date language about the internet. I made it because most of this sort of language in textbooks is hopelessly out-of-date. However, I recommend that you try to guess the words before you look. This will help you to remember them better. 😉

Remember that when we are talking about the internet, we generally use the preposition “on.” Think about the word “online” and people being “on the internet.” This is very important to remember. We are never “in a website.” We are “on it.” For example:

  • There are some great articles on that website.
  • Did you see the pictures on Facebook yesterday?
  • I’m going to post something about it on my blog later.
  • Can you add me on WhatsApp?
  • I’ll follow you on Instagram .

Here’s a visual lesson that gives more examples about this useful preposition rule:

prepositions for talking about technology and the iner

I will make some more notes about language in the section following my sample answer below.

When you are given the cue card, you will have 1 minute to make some notes. You do not have to make notes, but it’s a pretty good idea to write down a few words that may help you remember useful vocabulary or ideas during your speech.

My notes for this cue card (describing a useful website) would be something like this:

  • platform/content
  • content – produced/shared

That makes little sense out of context, but you can see my sample answer in the next section. The important thing is that these notes either help you to remember the structure of your answer or remind you of some difficult words that you might want to use.

Just remember to avoid writing down full sentences or else you will certainly run out of time before you have had a chance to adequately plan your answer.

ielts cue card describe a website

I will now give you my sample answer for this question. Keep in mind that in order to actually get a band 9 score, you need to have excellent pronunciation and fluency. The answer below is grammatically correct and uses appropriate vocabulary, so it would get band 9 for Lexical Resource and Grammatical Range and Accuracy , but the speaker would need to have natural intonation and pronunciation, too, without much hesitation.

The most useful website that I know is YouTube, which is a video-streaming site that is popular all around the world. It contains lots of videos on all sorts of topics, so there really is something for everyone. The great thing about YouTube is that it grew from being just a collection of silly cat videos and short clips into a genuine platform for excellent content. There are some YouTubers who produce videos that are such high-quality that they look like real TV shows. In fact, many of them probably get more views than actual TV shows now. YouTube has changed the world by altering how content is produced and shared. People from almost anywhere now have access to an incredible archive of information. I personally love photography and so I go on YouTube most days to learn about techniques for taking better pictures or editing my photos in Photoshop or Lightroom. I can connect with talented photographers around the world and, perhaps more importantly, these genuinely knowledgeably people are now able to turn their skill into real money. Many people have successful careers now because they started a YouTube channel and shared their passion with the world. I think that YouTube is useful because I can learn so many things in such an easy way. It’s not just photography. If I want to make dinner but I don’t know how to cook something , there’s probably a video for it. That is truly incredible, and for me it makes YouTube the most useful website on the internet.

You can listen to my sample answer here:

My answer would take about 1:40 minutes to read, which is perfect for IELTS speaking part 2. It contains good grammar and vocabulary, and it also answers all parts of the cue card.

Note that I did not answer all parts in equal depth. When saying what YouTube is, I gave a short description:

  • a video-streaming site that is popular all around the world

I also said very little about how often I use the website:

  • I go on YouTube most days

However, you can see that I have given lots more detail for other parts and generally I described the website fully. I have given some interesting ideas and information about it.

Most importantly, my language was also appropriate for the question. I have used some phrases which you might find helpful when describing a website of your own:

  • a video-streaming site
  • It contains lots of videos
  • just a collection of
  • a genuine platform for excellent content
  • an incredible archive of information
  • I go on YouTube
  • I can connect with
  • the most useful website on the internet

You should note that I have said “contains” to show that videos are hosted on the website. I also use “on” as the correct preposition for things relating to the internet. We can use “platform” and “content” to refer to the website and the things on the website, respectively. When communicating with people online, we might also say “connect with.”

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Favorite Website

Describe a website you often browse.   You should say: what is it how long have you been using it give details about the website Why do you love the website?

Sample Answer

I have been using internet for now about 6 years, out of which I think 3 years I have used it extensively, visiting lot of websites and doing research and lots of fun work. There have been many sites which I love to visit, but I think the one that I go back to when I am not able to find anything else, is youtube.com. I believe it is one of the most amazing sites to be made in the history, because there are so many opportunities over there. You can learn lot of things from the website and then you can earn lot of money from it.

I have been using youtube.com since past four years, I believe. With so many videos about events being uploaded onto it, it becomes very exciting to use it. So, there is this video about Steve jobs and you can hear him. His Stanford speech, his interview about Macintosh and his opinion about how life is lived. It is exciting because it seems as if you are actually interacting with the other person. And then there are video lectures by some great personalities. You get to learn and the best part is that it is for free. You learn because you want to and you enjoy it. I think the freedom that youtube gives is completely exciting.

Even more, people can now upload their videos and if they are able to bring in lot of viewers, google pays them and someone who has talent, it is such a great opportunity. You get to be your own boss and be creative.

Youtube.com was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim and the domain was activated on February 14,2005. The idea behind the founders was to be able to upload videos and share it with their friends. What was thought to be just a website where people could simply share their videos, turned out to be a great startup. It was in around 2006 that google acquired the website and since then it has been merged together with lots of google products like google+.

I think what makes me and so many people fall in love with the website is surely the freedom that it gives. You get to learn things and implement them and then earn lot of money out of it.

How long have you been using Internet?

I started using internet when I stepped into the college, but I remember, it was two years from then that I actually started using internet for lot of things. So, I would just go out and listen to lot of those videos and read the Wikipedia pages. For the initial two years, I used internet only for facebook and when I had to make presentations, but later in college I came to know about the importance it plays in our lives and have been using it extensively since then.

How has internet changed your lifestyle?

I would say it has made me more enlightened. So, earlier I was limited to the resources that I had, so the teachers and the people I used to meet in daily life. But now, it is more like, the approach from just adjusting with the average has changed to going for excellent and becoming excellent. There are no boundations anymore.

What do you think could be the possible uses of internet in the future?

My personal opinion is that our lives will revolve around internet in the future and that is for sure. So, we will be able to see automatic cars that work entirely on internet. It might be possible to figure out the emotions of the other person, just by scanning their face to the scanner and internet will find out the results. So, may be people will get to know what the other person is feeling. It might even be possible that we are able to figure out what is necessary to buy in a particular month, and may be internet will help us in finding out a good budget.

1. What kinds of websites do you often visit?

Well, websites about food and wildlife are my favorite sites. I love cooking, I can find great recipes to make a perfect meal for my family. Also, I am a member of animal protection group, I will search for some latest news related to that field.

2. What is your favourite website?

Chinese National Geography for sure. I am a big fan of it, I often go to their official website to see some useful information and I like to spend time in watching those amazing videos.

3. Are there any changes to the websites you often visit?

I’m not sure, but according to what I see, there’s a huge difference on the layout of webpage between the past and the present. It’s much more colorful, with clear fonts and pictures. Descriptions are shorter than before, an entire paragraph of information will no longer be on a page.

4. What kinds of websites are popular in your country?

Well, it varies. It’s easy for us to find what preferences we have on the Internet. Kids like cartoons or video games, young adults prefer vlogs or pets, while the elderly tend to see contents more about nature or peaceful things.

5. What kind of social networking websites do you like to use?

I mostly use the Facebook website for social networking. These days all the social networking sites have an app that we can install and use on our phones, so I don’t usually visit the websites. I use my cellphone apps.

6. Are you a social person?

I am not a very social person. However, I have a good social circle of friends. I like to meet them at least once every two months.

7. What kinds of people do you like to be friends with on those websites?

On those websites, I only have friends whom I already know or whom I know through someone. I do not make new friends on such websites.

8. Is it easy to find real friends on a social networking website?

No, it is not at all easy to find real friends on social networking websites. People make fake IDs, with fake information and dupe people.

Technology review: www.lyricstraining.com.

One of my favourite websites is lyricstraining.com. It’s great because you can learn English while you listen to your favourite songs. You choose a song and then listen to the song and complete the lyrics. You can also watch the video of the song.

The good points include the fact that there are lots of up-to-date groups you can listen to such as The Script or One Direction. In addition, you can choose the level: beginner, intermediate or expert, depending on your level of English. Another good feature is that you can repeat a line of the song as often as you want, until you know the missing word. Also, the website is very easy to navigate and you can listen to songs in different languages, for instance in Spanish, German and Italian.

One of the drawbacks is that some songs aren’t on the website. Another bad point is that there is a lot of advertising on the website. However, you can just ignore it.

To sum up, I think this is an excellent website if you like music and you want to improve your English. You should check it out!

The IELTS speaking section takes place on a different day than the remainder of the session. You can choose the date according to your convenience. It is a one-on-one meeting between the aspirant and the examiner where you are advised to be confident and knowledgeable along with being a good listener. The interview is divided into three major sections:

This section is all about the introduction and interview. You are required to introduce yourself to the examiner in this portion. In addition, you must also answer some basic questions about their daily lives.

This section is about the cue card. In this section, the examiners ask you a cue card topic which is a familiar topic and you must talk about your experience related to it or any memory or relevant thing with fluency.

This portion is about the conversation. The candidates will engage in a discussion on a topic related to that on the cue card. A few follow-up questions can come at this time that you have to answer adequately.

#. What do you use it for?

#. How long have you owned it?

#. And explain why is it important to you?

Describe Your Favourite Gadget: IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer One

What is it.

Well, I am an admirer and freak of digital Gadgets. I love to gather different gadgets that come on the market. Recently, I have bought a new laptop that I will discuss today. I bought it a year ago when my old one had issues in functioning appropriately. I bought an HP laptop with the most updated technology and effective hardware. My new gadget supports most of the latest software too along with having an amazing configuration.

Moreover, my laptop has an upgraded IOS operating system along with Microsoft spheres. I found this gadget a bit expensive to purchase. Now, I can confidently say that it has proven worth the cost as it is functioning so effectively and efficiently that I work for hours now. I purchased it approximately a year ago. I had to replace my Asus laptop with this new one to perform better.

What Do You Use it For?

I use the laptop for a variety of official purposes as well as some personal works. I often use the laptop for finding information on the internet for several projects as well as to communicate with my friends. Listening to music using the laptop is one of my favourite activities. Also, I sometimes work on it to prepare some official documents and love to use it to play games on it as well.

But, I have to confess and say that all the functions of this new gadget are carried out extremely smoothly. I need not wait to execute the elements. Plus, it serves as a source of my entertainment too. My sister and I use my laptop more frequently than any other electronic device, even more than the mobile phone. For every professional and personal work, I frequently open up the laptop and use it conveniently.

How Long have You Owned It?

The laptop has been with me for more than 1 year now. Changes in technology are happening every passing day. The use of the latest software is in demand for faster performance. Everyone is busy with their work and wants great software to make their work easy.

This is the reason that everyone needs to upgrade their computers and laptops regularly to make sure that they are giving good performances. Well, for the same reason, I replaced my old laptop with this new one and found it extremely interesting and convenient. It has excellently worked for me.

And Explain Why It Is Important to You?

This gadget is extremely important to me as I already mentioned that I use this laptop for a list of reasons. The reasons include sorting and writing documents. Also, I use it to keep in contact with my friends, colleagues and family members. I like to write and my favourite gadget is used to maintain my blogs too. To listen to music, watch movies, and for many other important functions, this gadget has proved a blessing to me.

My laptop is an unavoidable gadget that I utilize regularly for different functions. I carry all of my work on the laptop. This is why it is the best companion that I have.

Describe Your Favourite Gadget: IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer Two

What is it.

Technology is growing to an extent that it has become a part of everyone’s life. It is the greatest invention of this century. Talking about my favourite gadget, I am obsessed with my DSLR camera. I bought it about two years ago when I completed my 12th. I like photography. This is the reason for my graduation in the same field.

I purchased it to record the activities and invaluable moments of my school and friends. Since then, I have never stopped using this modern gadget which is extremely wonderful when it comes to capturing the most beautiful moments of life.

My favourite gadget is the DSLR camera. I wanted to buy it because I am keenly interested in clicking photographs and capturing the great moments of animals, birds, things, and human beings. The name of this gadget is “DSLR”. Talking about the features of DSLR, it is a basic “point-and-shoot” video camera, with a size of about 108 millimetres (or 4.25 inches), and it weighs about 265 grams.

It comes in a shiny black colour. The camera that I have bought is made by Canon and is also immensely affordable. Also, compared to some other basic video cameras in its class, it is wonderful to work with.

Now, the processing of the camera is great for all its users as it offers a zoom range of 5 to 15 times. This camera also has a bigger and better lens for its price. The video resolution of my new camera is 1600 x 1180 which I like personally. I found it hugely attractive and excellent to use.

Also Read: Recent Exam Question in IELTS Speaking Part 3: Sample Answers of Recent IELTS Topic Music

I have owned this gadget for two years. After buying my camera, initially, I didn’t find much use for it except, of course, recording the activities in my school. But,  as time passed, I became interested in using the camera for other purposes and activities. I started loving its functions.

Gradually, I started to carry it outside with me, when I used to travel to any place with friends or family. Also, I started to make videos of nature around me. I quite like wildlife photography when I learned to shoot the insects and unique birds doing their activities.

I, then, bought different lenses for the camera to capture distant and micro things. Well, factually, the more I was using it, the better I was feeling about my camera and my work. After some time, I felt bold and inspiring enough to carry my camera even to some parties, like weddings and birthdays, to capture the fun and happy moments because it started to give me happiness.

Now, I never think that it is awkward to carry my camera, rather, I carry my little camera pretty much everywhere with me like a trusted friend as it gives me strength and happiness.

And Explain Why it Is Important to You?

My DSLR camera is very important to me because it allows me to capture the favourite moments of not only my life but also the lives of other important people and living beings around me, on my own terms and conditions. I am offered to do professional photography for the studios and organizations but I would like to do it for myself right now.

Besides this, my camera also keeps me busy when I don’t feel like doing anything constructive or feel bored. It gives me true happiness from within. Furthermore, the camera allows me to look back to some of my favourite moments from the past when I feel down and depressed. It has become a true companion to me.

IELTS Preparation

The key to obtaining the desired band in achievement is to practice each area with effective strategies. It is often said that practice is the key to perfection. You can be unbelievable if you do the maximum practice. Along with intense battles, a creative task is also required, as a candidate is only given a limited amount of time to complete the exam.

But, you should ensure your confidence in each section which will come when you are highly knowledgeable about the areas. The aspirants can go easy to choose from a wide range of cue card themes and thoroughly rehearse them to begin your speaking category rehearsal. Also, make sure that you point down the thoughts and effective vocabulary to be great at the interview.

Moreover, this act will greatly assist you in providing acceptable and logical answers throughout the speaking session. You cannot take long pauses to think after the examiner has asked a question, so prepare beforehand. The complete idea is to be confident and fluent. You can include thoughts and quotes to support your answer.

Cue Card # 210: Your favourite travel destination

Ielts cue card/ candidate task card # 210, describe your favourite travel destination..

You should say:

  • where it is
  • how you can go there
  • what can someone see and do there

and explain why this is your favourite travel destination.

[You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.]

Model Answer:

I live in a big and beautiful country called Indonesia, and there are too many wonderful travel destinations there. But, out of all those destinations, Bali seems to have won my heart from the moment I arrived there for the first time. So, I guess, I will just go ahead and pick this world-famous tourist spot as my favourite travel destination as well.

Bali is a province and also an island of Indonesia which is located at least one mile east of Java Island. Also known as the “land of the gods”, Bali is undoubtedly one of the most popular islands to visit with roughly 3 million tourists every year. Since it is such a popular travel destination for so many people, it has to be easily accessible from all parts of the country. But, as far as travelling from Jakarta (because that’s where I live), one can visit Bali by air, train, bus, car and car ferry. I always take a train to visit this marvellous island, and this train journey by itself is quite an experience for me because it allows me to see my beautiful country up close.

But, no matter which transportation you use to reach Bali, you are going to enjoy your stay on this beautiful island because there are just too many things to do and see there. If you are into nature, you would certainly love the glorious mountainous areas there with lush greenery, breathtaking view of waterfalls, gorgeously-scenic lakes, flower gardens, gushing rivers and secret canyons. If you are spiritual, you can also visit the beautiful, ancient temples there. But, if you are brave and a bit adventurous, you can see the black lava fields, and enjoy a downhill bicycle ride in the mountains.

Anyway, Bali is my favourite travel destination because it is not only beautiful and peaceful but also has a very rich cultural heritage that blends Hinduism, Shivaism and Buddhism in perfect harmony. On top of that, the locals there are very friendly there, and they will embrace you wholeheartedly once you spend some time with them.
