Free Halloween Homework Passes to Treat Your Students

Halloween is such a fun day for kids. I love to treat my students with a night off from homework. You can do the same with this free Halloween Homework pass. You will win major cool points with your class and all you have to do is print and cut!

A few years ago, my mom asked me to make some homework passes for her students.  This was at the very start of my TpT days.  Let’s just say that homework pass was so u-g-l-y that I HAD to remake it.  This new one is so much better. ?

With this homework pass – assign your students homework!  ALL day long, make them think they have homework.

Just because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean you get the night off!  Be sure to get your homework done before you go out tonight!

Then, at the very last minute, pass out the homework pass to your students.

Or attach it to their homework page so they don’t see it until they get home!  Surprise!

The homework was the trick, this pass it the treat!  Get it?  Trick-or-treat!

It’s always been a big hit with the students!

I wish I could say I came up with that one, but the credit goes to my mom.  She’s a clever one, I tell ya.

Free Halloween Treat Toppers and Homework Pass

Happy Halloween Week.  Here are three NEW free printables from Teaching Heart.

Another is a Topper to a treat bag as seen in the first picture.

Last is a topper to a religious treat bag that I made my Sunday School class.  You would need TOPS from the dollar store for this last printable.

Hopefully this will make a few teachers smile and their lives a little easier during this busy week.

Free Printable Homework Pass Set for K-12 Teachers

The homework pass just might be the most coveted of all school rewards. It’s easy for teachers too, since it doesn’t cost a thing. Make it even easier to hand out homework passes with our free printable set of two options, each in two styles. Just fill out the form on this page to grab them.

Homework can be a surprisingly controversial topic. While many assume it’s just a natural part of a child’s education, others feel that homework isn’t all it’s cracked up to be . As we seek to encourage a better work-life balance for adults, is it possible homework is sending the wrong message to kids ?

That being said, very few schools have banned homework altogether , and it does have its benefits. It’s especially useful in subjects like math and reading, where students profit from lots of skills practice. Sometimes, though, it’s nice to offer kids a break with no penalty, or at least the chance to postpone their assignment to a better night. That’s where the homework pass comes in.

Homework Pass Options

Our free printable homework passes come in two options, with styles for both elementary and middle/high school:

• No Homework: This pass allows kids to skip a homework assignment, with no penalty to their grade.
• One Day Late: This one gives them an extra day to turn in their work, which can be really helpful if they have a busy night of after-school activities or aren’t feeling well.

Most teachers put some limitations on their homework passes, specifying that they’re for certain assignments only. (You don’t want to give a student a free pass on a big project or paper.) Make sure you explain any restrictions when you hand yours out.

Some teachers give every student a certain number of passes to use each semester or year. Others use them as rewards or prizes for in-class competitions or quizzes.

We were required to do standards based activities for our Halloween activities last year. We had just finished reading "Charlotte's Web", so I put together a Literacy Cafe with several activities: A game (found online) that involved coordinate graphing and featured Charlotte and Wilbur, an activity where students researched the different parts of a spider and labeled a drawing with the various part names, a poetry activity where students found words (like Templeton) and glued them to construction paper to make poems, and the standard spider making out of Ritz Crackers (only I had peanut butter allergies, so I used cream cheese instead to stick the 2 Ritz Crackers together - we used whole wheat crackers. the kids had a great time rotating through the stations. Free Printable Homework Pass Templates

Printable homework pass description.

Homework passes are a motivational teaching tool and can be offered to students who excel in certain areas of their assignments. It is like a reward for doing well. What better reward can a teacher give than a homework free evening!

There are 6 homework passes on each page. To use these homework pass templates, just print the homework passes out with your printer and cut into squares. If you have a paper cutter that will do just fine. Teachers should write in the students name and sign the pass along with the expiration date.
