The project name is STUDENTS INFORMATION SYSTEM (SIS) for UOM. An SIS is a website that creates a single point of access to information collected from different sources .e.g. Different departments like computer science, software engineering etc. For students information and records manual system is used which is a headache for both administration and students. The project is basically for department of software engineering department where a desktop base application is used for students records maintenance. The current system does not have any feature of students fee record, no logout feature and only the clerk of department can use this system. It has no connection with examination section or finance section. The system we are going to develop can be used by all departments of University Of Malakand.

The rapid growth of Information in today’s world call for technology to be used in handling the ever increasing Information. Universities and Colleges keep tons of information about their students, academic staff, research and etcetera. Through studying the current existing system, it was easier to design and develop a functional, scalable and efficient Information System for the College of Computer Science and Information Technology. In-line with today’s technology, the College Information System eliminates most of the paper work within the college. Information concerning students, Courses and lecturers can well be managed using the system as opposed to paper work, which is associated with; time wastage, loss of information, inefficiency in updating records, and inaccuracy. The use of an Information System in a College not only eliminates the paper work for efficiency, but also aids the College administration in the decision making process, since reports and other management information can be generated from the system.

As we are familiar with pandemic situation and its effects on our life. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people regardless of nationality, level of education, income or gender. It has affected education system. As most of education, in our country was conducted in offline mode. But due to pandemic, picture has changed. During pandemic all universities were closed. It was very difficult for student pursuing higher education to cope up with situation. Online learning or e-learning was the best outcome of this pandemic. Students are connected with teachers, mentors through online meetings. The importance of online learning came into existence. Many colleges adopted various online activities and practices. Most of existing online learning systems do not provide exchange of resources and study material between students and mentors. But the problem is that students expect online learning to be simple and could be performed at ease. So to deal with this students problem, instead of creating an application which requires download we made a website which can be easily accessed. The website of student portal we implemented makes it easy for students from college to access resources, study materials of each and every subject. Students can solve quiz which are questioned by their mentors. The most important thing is that students can share feedback on performance of mentors. The website is controlled by admin which looks after the various activities of students and mentors.

NEP 2020: Important Role of EdTech in Empowering HigherEd Outreach

NEP 2020: Important Role of EdTech in Empowering HigherEd Outreach

The 21st-century world is best described as a global village, where countries and communities are no longer bound by physical borders, but are, in fact, interconnected parts of a larger community. The way we connect with people has drastically changed, which has led to a free flow of knowledge, ideas, and perspectives. For higher education, this means an opportunity to build a universal model, a framework that emphasises the interconnectedness of the world and fosters students’ understanding of global issues, disciplines, and their role as global citizens.   This comes at a time when the National Educational Policy (NEP 2020) is driving institutions to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to learning. EdTech is the catalyst for the implementation and commercialisation of globalised teaching and learning.  And as it continues to adapt and get smarter, it will contribute to the global outreach of higher education. Creating opportunities for remote learning Campus Management Solution (CMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) providers such as Camu enable institutions to offer high-quality remote learning courses and programs. With the help of a Virtual Classroom that leverages visual and audio formats, educators can deliver engaging and interactive content to students no matter where they are. A fully online mode of teaching ensures that students from across the country and world can access education in real-time, which leads to improved collaboration and cross-cultural cohesion. Connecting students from different countries  With Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs, students can interact and connect with a broader demographic of learners. Classrooms have become culturally diverse, with people hailing from different backgrounds and cultures – international students, non-urban students, corporate students, and part-time students. This provides students with opportunities to envision themselves as integral members of a vast global community and helps them to recognize and understand their position within the world. Building a bridge between teachers and learners EdTech is the medium through which students can tap into global teacher networks, allowing them to engage with the most experienced and knowledgeable professors and industry experts. They can enroll in international degrees, sign up for supplementary courses, apply for virtual exchange programs, attend webinars, and much more. No longer are students confined to a traditional teacher-student dynamic, now they can seek guidance from those that are most suited to give it to them. Developing multidisciplinary curriculums The multidisciplinary approach is a method of integrating the curriculum that emphasizes the varied perspectives revealed by various disciplines to illustrate a topic or an issue. By deploying EdTech resources, institutes can create a more flexible learning environment that enables the integration of multiple theories. In this manner, students are given a choice to pick subjects that can provide a more well-rounded and holistic understanding of the matter, thereby adding value to their academic journeys. Supporting collaborative projects EdTech enables better collaboration and teamwork, connecting students from across the world over group assignments and projects. By having a synergized and connected network, it becomes easier to share ideas and work together to develop innovative solutions. With instant access to information, simplified and streamlined sharing, and live chat features, students can connect learning goals with strategic plans. Providing access to global resources From research papers and academic journals to teaching resources and lesson plans, EdTech unlocks a wealth of knowledge.  AI-based programs like ChatGPT help teachers gather information, summarise findings, and present them as reports. Everything from facts, concepts, principles, theories, and even heuristics can be used to enhance learning outcomes.  Technology can be leveraged for a number of reasons, including the promotion of global learning, the creation of cultural understanding, the building of relationships, the sharing of knowledge, and so on. For HEIs, investing in the right kind of technology is of utmost importance because it allows them to create a powerful global footprint by expanding their educational offerings and attracting international students. Moreover, it will allow them to empower students to gain a deeper perspective of their roles in society, along with what they must do to stand out from the global competition Related posts: Engaging with Education Trends 2021 Student Choice Based Enrollment is Spearheading Higher Education in India A Teacher’s Guide to Embracing Technology

Student Relationship Management System Camu

Enhance student’s delight with Camu’s comprehensive Student Relationship Management System, “Student Services.”

A student-centric organization places students at the heart of its mission, recognizing them as the primary stakeholders in the educational process. By prioritizing the needs, aspirations, and well-being of students, such an organization creates an environment that fosters holistic development and academic success. The significance of students as major stakeholders in any educational institute cannot be overstated, as they drive the core purpose of the institution and shape its future. Ensuring student delight through exceptional student services is paramount in cultivating a positive and thriving educational environment. When students experience services that go beyond their expectations, it not only enhances their satisfaction but also contributes to their overall well-being.  Student delight is a key driver of engagement, motivation, and academic success. Moreover, a delighted student is more likely to become a loyal advocate for the institution, positively influencing its reputation. By prioritizing student delight in services, educational institutions create a foundation for a supportive and memorable student experience, fostering a sense of belonging and contributing to the holistic development of each student. Camu brings an exemplary student relationship management platform in the form of “Student Services”  which is a cornerstone of student delight, establishing a foundation for a positive relationship between students and their educational institution. The key features of this module are: Services to key person mapping: ensures that each service is directed to the relevant individual, minimizing the need for multiple points of contact for a single inquiry. This streamlined approach enhances efficiency and precision in providing the service by directly connecting individuals with the expertise to address their specific concerns. Streamlined Access to Resources: A centralized platform providing easy access to various student services, including academic records, financial aid information, and campus resources. Enhanced Efficiency: Streamlines administrative processes, reducing the need for students to navigate multiple systems or offices, thereby saving time and effort for both students and staff. Improved Communication: Facilitates seamless communication between students and different service departments, fostering a more connected and responsive campus community. Time-based service level agreement: guarantees that each service or query is addressed within a defined timeframe, significantly enhancing the overall student experience. By setting specific deadlines for service, this approach emphasizes efficiency, responsiveness, and a commitment to meeting students’ needs promptly. Escalation: Empowering students with the option to escalate their queries to the next higher level ensures that every concern receives the attention it deserves. If the initial response does not sufficiently address the query, this escalation mechanism guarantees that no inquiry goes unattended. 24/7 Accessibility: Enables students to access critical information and services at any time, providing flexibility and convenience that aligns with the diverse schedules of today’s students. Integrated Academic Support: Offers tools for academic planning, course registration, and progress tracking, contributing to a comprehensive academic support system. Integrated payment gateway: Facilitates convenient payment options for services, whether they are prepaid, postpaid, or involve conditional payments. Feedback Mechanism: The module features an automated feedback system for closed queries and addresses services, empowering students to provide valuable insights on their satisfaction levels. By prioritizing student satisfaction and actively seeking feedback, this feature demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement, enabling the refinement of services to better meet the evolving needs of the students.  Through the Student Services Module, a student can request the following services with time-bound redressal: Document request (Bonafide, provisional, no dues clearance, Event participation, Transcripts, Attendance certificate etc) Course Petitioning request Plea for exception to any outstanding dues Request for course drop or enroll post due date Request for accommodation/transport services Student Grievances related to teaching learning activities and other institute amenities. Request for Enrollment Request for resit or retake in examination Request for any other information related to policy matter from the administrator Camu provides an One-Spot Student Services Online Platform that consolidates services, enhances efficiency, and improves the overall student experience by providing a centralized hub for accessing essential resources and support. Camu’s Student Services module plays a pivotal role in cultivating student-centric practices, underscoring the institute’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the overall student life cycle journey. Camu Introduces Activity Mapping for Outcome-Based Education Model

Camu Introduces Activity Mapping for Outcome-Based Education Model

Camu is known for its flexible Outcome Based Education model, which drives an institution’s academic efforts toward outcome attainment.  In contrast to a traditional, teacher-centric approach, Camu focuses on the student’s development, growth, and learning experience. From curriculum planning and design to teaching methodologies, assessment patterns, and classroom activities, the curriculum is steered by specific outcomes (Program Educational Objectives, Program Outcomes, Program Specific Outcomes, and Course Outcomes) that students are expected to achieve at the end of their program.  Based on these predefined sets of goals, all processes are streamlined at the course, program, and institutional levels. Making the OBE model even more goal-focused and future-oriented is a new advancement that the product development team has recently launched. Activity Mapping is a feature that will help institutes generate more holistic and well-rounded outcomes, creating a learning environment that will encourage students to explore academic and non-academic experiences alike. What is Activity Mapping? Activity Mapping is the process of utilizing student activities, whether academic or non-academic, for the calculation of Program Outcomes. By including all curriculum components, from extracurriculars to sports, institutes can better gauge students’ knowledge, skills, and attributes after completion of a program. This is particularly important when working towards an NBA accreditation, as it ensures quality criteria are verified. How does Activity Mapping work? With Camu’s intuitive and user-friendly platform, Activity Mapping for OBE attainment becomes quick and easy. Activity Mapping can be actioned with a few simple steps.  Go to the Activity PO Measurement web page under OBE.  Add in the selection criteria comprising Institution, Degree, Program, Effective Date, and Year of Measurement.  Add in the Activity Name, Expected Attainment, Expected Attainment as % of Students, PO Mapping, and Blooms Taxonomy. Click on Update. The respective activities get mapped, along with the expected level of attainment, and the percentage of whom have received that score.  The Program Outcomes associated with each activity are also mapped based on their impact level, and finally, the level of complexity and specificity of the outcomes are mapped based on Bloom’s Taxonomy.  Once all the information has been updated, the activities must get mapped to specific students, which can be actioned from the Student Activities web page. After detailing the nature of the activity, the institute can decide whether this should contribute to outcome attainment or not. Earlier, the OBE model only let users map Course Outcome weightage, but now you can specify Program Outcome weightage too. As such, for a particular program, you can determine the attainment value, activity value, and feedback value. The system will then automatically determine the outcomes for each program and course based on the weightage, which can be accessed within the Outcomes web page with the outcome attainment bar chart and flow chart. Camu helps institutions design outcome-oriented curricula that comply with all the regulations set by local and international accreditation bodies.  Everything, from teaching methodologies to assessment patterns, is aligned with specific outcomes that meet the institution’s vision and mission statements.  With this new feature, institutes will be able to better guide students toward outcome attainment.           Inheritance is the practice of acquiring the required properties from one class to another class. The class which acquires the properties is known as the child class. The class which allows its properties to be acquired is known as the parent class. It is simply known as the Parent-child relationship. Ie. “Is-a” relationships

Here, the below classes follow inheritance Student – UGStudent and PGStudent Staff – TeachingStaff and NonTeachingStaff Hostel – BoysHostel and GirlsHostel Student – UG Student and PG Student : UG Student and PG student are child classes of students and UG is a student and PG student is a student. Staff – Teaching staff and Non teaching staff : Teaching staff and Non teaching staff are child classes of Staff. Teaching staff is a staff and Non-teaching staff is also a staff. Hostel – BoysHostel and GirlsHostel : BoysHostel and GirlsHostel are child classes of hostels. BoysHostel is a hostel and GirlsHostel is a hostel.

2. Aggregation :

In Aggregation, Class A and Class B are dependent on each other which indicates that A has an instance of B and B has an instance of B, but they are not physically contained inside each other. In simple terms, Class B can exist without  Class A. It follows “has-a” relationship.

Here, the below classes follow aggregation, College management and hostel College management and parking. They follow aggregation because the hostel and parking can exist without College.

3. Composition :

In composition, Class A and Class B are dependent on each other which indicates that class A has an instance of class B inside class A. In other words, class B is physically contained inside class A.  So class B cannot exist without class A. It follows a “has-a” relationship.

Here, College management and department College management and auditorium College management and classroom follows composition. Because the department, auditorium and classroom cannot exist without college management and are physically composed inside the college management.

4. Association :

In Association, one class is not committed to the other class in any means, but both of the classes use each other and function in their own respective spaces. It follows the “using” relation.

Here, Student and staff follow association because the student uses staff and the staff uses students

5. Unidirectional Association :

In unidirectional Association, two classes are related in some ways, but only one class makes use of the other class whereas the other class is not benefited from the relationship. Class A can call Class B whereas Class B cannot call Class A.

Here,   Student and Classroom Student and Library Teachers and Library Student and Bus Student and Auditorium Student and Canteen  follows unidirectional association because the classroom , library, bus, auditorium and Canteen are being used by students whereas on the other hand classroom, library, bus, auditorium and Canteen are not benefited by the relationship with students. So they follow unidirectional association.
