UC Riverside pioneers solutions to challenges confronting California, the nation, and the world. The University of California, Riverside will transform the lives of the diverse people of California, the nation, and the world through the discovery, communication, translation, application, and preservation of knowledge – thereby enriching the state's economic, social, cultural, and environmental future. UC Riverside’s research programs have expanded discovery and scholarship throughout all disciplines. Our campus excels in many areas of research, creative work, and the dissemination of the knowledge it generates. Whether in the arts, humanities, education, social sciences, public policy, business, STEM disciplines, or medicine, UCR’s faculty, students, and staff strive to understand the world in which we live and our human experience; educate the next generation of scholars, scientists, and leaders; and provide solutions to the difficult societal, scientific, and technological problems our community, state, the nation, and world face. UC Riverside is one of the most ethnically diverse research universities in the United States, and the campus hosts a dynamic and inclusive community. Located on nearly 1,200 acres near Box Springs Mountain in Southern California, UC Riverside offers a park-like campus and convenient access to the vibrant and growing Inland Empire. The classic Southern California experience — from culture to nature — awaits. UC Riverside offers a wide range of academic and research areas: engineering; arts, humanities and social sciences; agricultural, physical, and life sciences; business, education, medical and public policy professional schools; as well as 23 interdisciplinary research centers. As a member of the University Innovation Alliance, UC Riverside is committed to improving the success of low-income, first-generation students as well as students of color. Our diverse, inclusive, and globally focused community pioneers solutions to challenges confronting California, the nation and the world. Healthcare, sustainable environments, nanotechnology and materials science are just a few areas in which internationally renowned faculty are engaged. Home to more than 25,000 students and 1,100 faculty—including two Nobel Prize winners and 13 members of the National Academies of Science and Medicine—the campus is rapidly growing. To support the addition of new faculty and students, new campus student housing, dining, retail, and recreational facilities are currently being added.
