The M. S. Ramaiah College of Pharmacy, now a constituent of MSRUAS as Faculty of Pharmacy has been in existence for about three decades. It has very good infrastructure, noteworthy laboratory facilities, experienced and competent faculty members. During the last two decades it has produced over 1000 graduates and 120 Post graduates. The presence of other Faculties of applied sciences in the University will facilitate the students to have a better experience and exposure in comparison to the conventional training procedures.
Faculty of Pharmacy of MSRUAS offers M. Pharm degree Programme in Pharmaceutical Chemistry which is featured with semester pattern curriculum is aimed to emphasize critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and outcome-based curriculum. Importance will be given to research projects based on rational drug design. The curriculum is structured to develop the students for taking up independent professional responsibilities and acquire necessary skills to compete with their global counterparts.

Programme Specialization Course (PSC)
This includes an overview into all courses in Pharmaceutical Chemistry such as Advanced Organic Chemistry, Advanced Medicinal Chemistry, Chemistry of Natural Products, Advanced Spectral Analysis, Computer Aided Drug Design, and Pharmaceutical Process Chemistry etc.

Includes courses in Research Methodology and Biostatistics, and Journal Club.
Faculty Common Courses (FCC)
Mandatory courses (mc).
Students are required to participate in national and international seminars, conferences and workshops and work on presenting and publishing research papers in reputed journals in India and abroad.
Programme Dissertation (PD)
The work for the dissertation includes an introduction to professional and personal development, language courses, and life skills. This is aimed at contributing to the development of the spirit of enquiry, fostering techniques of research, critical analysis and acquainting a student with the latest advances in medical science. It includes learning how to identify and consult available literature.
Group Project (GP)
Students can work on a common project with faculty from multiple disciplines to earn credits. This project should design, develop, and evaluate a drug moiety, dosage form, product, data, or process in an area of specialisation.
Teaching and Assessment
During each semester, students’ performance is assessed through Continuous Evaluation (CE) which includes teacher interaction, sessional examination and a Semester End Examination (SEE).
Students are awarded grades based on the marks scored.
Key Skill Development
- Ability to develop strategies for the synthesis of various drugs
- Ability to elucidate structures of natural products of medicinal interest and interpret experimental data to establish the content or identity of pharmaceuticals
- Ability to synthesize and analyze new drug molecular entities by different chemical processes
- Ability to isolate and identify chemical constituents from synthetic and natural sources
- Ability to predict the pharmacological activity and toxicity of new drugs using drug design software
- Ability to develop technical reports after an analysis of data, process or procedure
- Ability to do team work and work towards lifelong learning and continuous improvement
Indian Nationals
Candidates who have passed B. Pharm degree examinations of an Indian University established by law in India and from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.
Candidates should have secured not less than 55% marks in aggregate of 4 years or equivalent CGPA of B. Pharm for General Category.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes should have passed with 50% (as per PCI Gazette Notification dated 10.12.2014).
It is mandatory to submit a migration certificate obtained from the University where the candidate had passed their qualifying B. Pharm degree.

Students seeking admission are required to appear for the entrance examination conducted by the University, including international students. This will be a Post Graduate Entrance Test (M. Pharm)

Students seeking admission are required to appear and qualify for the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) — Bangalore, Govt. of Karnataka.

Group Project
A group of 5 students can work on a project of interdisciplinary nature and be constituted of members from across departments. Students are required to develop a report for assessment and demonstrate the working of the project. The IPR rights of all such work lie with the University only.
Industrial Internship/project
Students can opt for internship in an industry or research organisation. Alternatively, students can undertake a mini-project requiring self-directed study that can be perused within the affiliated Faculty. It is also necessary for the student to submit a report and make a presentation to the members of the panel constituted by the HoD for assessment.
Dissertation and Publication
There are two parts to this course, a dissertation and publication. Each student has to choose a relevant topic and work individually to write the dissertation. The topic needs to be approved by the committee constituted by HoD. Publication is a stage wherein dissertation work of the student is converted into a technical paper to be published in reputed conferences/journals.

What is the last date for admissions?
While the actual date varies every year, admissions for UG programmes close in the month of August, while those for PG programmes close in September.

The Faculties of Engineering & Technology, Art & Design, and Mathematical & Physical Sciences are housed in the Technology Campus. Whatever the project you select, thorough knowledge on it is required. The basis for selection of project, significance of it, what is the novelty in it and so on… Everything is important. So please be careful while selecting a project and ensure that you have thorough knowledge on it and necessarily should know the reasons for selecting that project.
Avoid Plagiarism
It is a common tendency to cut, copy, and paste in the introduction part from different sources of net or from a review or research article. This is plagiarism which is absolutely not acceptable and considered as crime in foreign countries. It is the stealing of one’s ideas and method of writing. It will not help in any way. There are many arguments on it. I would like to say only one thing regarding this issue. Avoiding plagiarism gives honor to the author and also helps in generating new ideas besides helping you in understanding the theory and concepts.
The work done should have novelity .
Which Drug To Be Selected: It is very important that what makes you excited to work with. Many students already had a picture of kind of drugs they like to work on like anti-cancer drugs or some anti-viral or any other class. But, it should be consider that you should complete your project work in 1 year.
After completion with your selection of the drug you will going to take for your project work after discussion and approval with your guide you have to step forward toward the literature review of the drug you selected.
For any drug you had selected you should look forward for following points for your work-
- Any significant pharmaceutical problem with the drug product related to its formulation, drug delivery and bio-availability.
- Methods and types of dosage form which already exsits in the market.
Literature Review
Points you have to study and review for literature purpose:
- One should have to study the history of the drug thoroughly.
- Early and common problems related to exsisting dosage forms.
- complete data base of drug available by any source like internet, libraries etc.
- Complete physic chemical parameter of pure drug.
- Study of complete drug profile from authenticated sources like pharmacopoeias, FDA online sites etc.
- study of depth of the drug and its available formulations and problems related with that available problems.
The experimental study should be done qualitatively.

M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Admission Process
The admission into the Masters of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical chemistry is based on the GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test). GPAT is an All India entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission into the various pharmaceutical specializations.
The admission is done based on GPAT scores or their own entrance examination. Many institutes conduct admission based on merit prepared on the last qualifying degree.
- Almost all Colleges/Universities offering Masters of Pharmacy accept admission based on GPAT scores. Candidates need to apply for the GPAT entrance examination.

Jamia Hamdard - A place for studious stidents.
Placement experience.
The placement company visits start from the third sem. There's a separate placement cell called PlaceCom, responsible for placement activities. They make sure all students get the opportunity. In my session companies like Xogene, Apothecaries, Minimalist, etc visited. Mostly clinical research companies offer the placement. They hire just one student per company. The average package is 5 LPA. It is not an excellent choice for placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The course fee is 100000 per semester and 5000 as a semester fee. The overall cost can sum up to more than 4L. It is higher as compared to other colleges like DIPSAR but also the level of research is appreciable. Scholarships are also available to needy students which are mentioned in the brochure. They also provide placements but the opportunities are not that much.

Course curriculum overview.
I like the chemistry branch because I have completed my degree project in chemistry and all synthesis fields, as chemistry is the backbone of all specializations in including. there are 15 students in each specialization. the faculty is good enough and friendly. they helped not only in studies but help in studying systematically. they help in all the way they can and some of the teachers have written books also. The exams are held in 2 sessionals where all the syllabus is covered. they provide enough time to prepare for the exam.
Campus Life
there are different events such as cultural events, sports, avishkar for the different research ideas students can come up with. I am not too familiar because it's my 1st year so lots of things are not known to me . there is the availability of books in bulk, they also provide free journal and research article access in the college library. there is an Instrumental lab which consists of UV, IR, HPLC, HPTLC, FLAME PHOTOMETRY, ETC

Generally it is organised by students along with Faculty members.our college have the biggest library in the block.We can study any time between college hours. As a pharmacist I want to those people who are not about what is medical system... & What was it's advantages.still they are in blind belief if there are some health problem.Our Student Ratio is 42:45. Most of our faculties are PhD holders and all have minimum 10 years experience in teaching.
Dpsru in a nutshell
This course opened many doors which otherwise didn't exist for me. The name of the college provides a certain dignity to the students. The faculty is highly qualified and is able to provide attention to students who require it. They know how to handle situations that are novel as the university is still developing. Examinations take place twice each semester and each semester is of 6 months period. The contents of the exams were based on the knowledge of the students while at the same time challenging enough to not be a typical question paper.
Various programs n celebrations take place all year long with some being organized by the students. The library is highly resourceful, and if you do find a shortage they try and meet the demands as best as possible. Sports day is more of a week while intercollege competitions take place around the same time. Many social groups are made and dispersed all the time so no one group is too known.
DIPSAR: An overall great experience
The placement cell consists of 5 faculty members and a few students. Every year the college invites several consultancy firms such as WNS, IQVIA, ZS, Clarivate, etc for appointing the students in the CI area. However there are also Pharmaceutical companies which appoi t students as scientists or analysts a few such companies are Dr. Reddy and Fransius Keibibi. The average package offered in 2021-2022 was 8.5 lacs per annum.
The course curriculum is well made to comfort and teach the students. The faulty is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. There are regular sessional examinations conducted they are small exams to determine the knowledge followed by semester exams. The exams are not difficult to pass if well prepared.
Great college for Pharm Chem.
The College campus is large. Great student culture. A good number of clubs and extracurricular activities. Access to the sports room and common rooms. The Journal club is very active in M. Pharm. The campus is WiFi enabled. All classrooms have a projector/screen. Some classes have ACs.
I have an interest in Medicinal Chemistry and wanted to pursue masters in pharmaceutical chemistry. The course curriculum is as per the PCI syllabus. The faculty is great, I think this college has the best Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Bombay after BCP.

Spandan, cultural days like traditional day, western day, character day and funfair. All the books related to the pharmacy are available and N-list is available for searching journals. Classrooms have amenities like a projector and also an internet lab is available. The campus has a basketball, badminton court and cricket pitch. Various intra collegative tournaments are organized for students. Also, indoor games like arm-wrestling, carrom, table tennis, etc. are played during sports week. The college has NSS, with around 20 students group. Camping is the main activity where students go to a village and perform activities like cleaning the village, and tree plantation and aware villagers about different diseases. Also, health campaigns and blood donation camps are organized by the college. The college has an IIC committee that inspires students to participate in different innovation projects. Also, IIC committee members visit various institutions that promote innovative business ideas.
As I have a keen interest in chemistry, I chose to do master's in pharmaceutical chemistry. In my department, there are 5 faculty members and 11 students. All the faculties are highly qualified and experienced. Dr S.V. Bhandari is the Professor and Head of the Department, holding over 23 years of experience. Semester exams are conducted by SPPU in 4-5 months, an average student can score 50% easily.

The campus is spread over a vast area at a prime location near R.T.O, Pune; it is easily accessible by public transport. With lush greenery and a silent environment studying here becomes easy. The college offers placements from various companies with an annual package of about 3.5-4L. Their guidance throughout the placement process is very rewarding for every student like me. teachers also help the students in making additional career choices by observing their skills and work. Students are eligible for placements in the final semester of their course. The college additionally hosts conversations with successful alumni of the college from the vast domain and lets students interact with them for clarifying their career choices and refurbishing their goals.

The campus life of the college is good. The college provides a good environment for studies. The Arena is a sports event that is a treat for sports lovers and Pearl is the annual cultural fest of the college. The college infrastructure is very well maintained and the classrooms are big and properly ventilated. The college library is good and there are many books from international authors are available. The labs of the college are modern and equipped with all kinds of tools and chemicals for study.
The college is itself very popular for its placement standards and the college is among the top college in India that provides good placement packages. The placement committee plays a very important role in the placement process as the committee is fully responsible for the placement and they are able to invite good companies for placement. The highest package for our batch was around 35 LPA and the average package was approx 16 LPA.

I choose this course because I was interested in chemistry and build my career in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry field. The ratio of faculty and student is 10:1 ratio. Over 10 students 1 faculty is provided. Most of the faculties are PhD and a few are M Pharm from very reputed and government colleges like NIPER, DAVV, GSITS, etc. with 4-10 years of teaching experience and for making students understand better they use daily life-based examples to make students easy to grasp the topics. In a year there are a total of two main semester exams and 3 mid sem(sessional exams) exams. if the students are studied well thoroughly with the subject the exam will be easy to pass and if not then it will be difficult.
SAIP organizes an annual fest named cognise annual fest n this fest is conducted in between the month of March and April. There are more than 6000 books are available each and every subject of books are available in the college library with E-library also used by the students. Many different types of events are organized by the college team members like scientific events, cultural events, sports events it includes both indoor games for example- Carom, Chess, badminton and outdoor games are Cricket, football, volleyball, Kho-Kho, kabaddi, shotput, races, etc. We have a dance group and cricket team, volleyball team of our college which has participated in many intercollege competitions.

Infrastructure is good. Class rooms have projectors in them for better learning and AC are also available. College has a very big library where many journals and books are available. Professor are well qualified and share their knowledge with students positively. 2 sessional exams and 1 external exam is comducted per semester for each subject. Sessional exam is for 1 hr and external exam is for 3 hr and marks distributuon is according to university guidelines

The library is extremely well where we can get plenty of books related to pharmacy and it is also spacious and librarian is also good and polite and really helpful to students. The college also conduct sports and other cultural fests in the month of february and march on the occasion of annual day celebrations. And other important days will also be celebrated here.
Every year a lot of students are getting placed in reputed companies like Gland pharma, Natco pharma, aurobindo pharma, hetero, Dr.reddys, and many other. The final semester students of both ug and pg are eligible for placements. Nearly 90% of the students are getting placements every year. the average package will be around 2.5Lakh per annum.

The admission procedure of my college for the M.Pharma course is hassle-free. After completing my B.Pharma course, I appeared for the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Based on my score in the exam, I got admitted to the college.

UIPS provides 100 percent placements for PG students and is popular for producing a number of GPAT qualified UG students each academic year. Internship is also arranged for interested students in PGIMER and other pharmaceutical industries. Some offer stipend of around 5k to 6k and some dont. The industries that come for placement are Dr. Reddys, novartis, cipla, sun pharma, lupin, Eli lily.

I was lucky enough to secure a good position and that's how, I got admission in Lachoo College. It is the most reputed college for Pharmacy education when it comes to Rajasthan. It is now an autonomous institution & a centre of excellence as awarded by UGC. I completed by M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from this college in 2014.
Course curriculum is as per the AISE & RUSH guidelines for technical courses. I think we need to update there courses with time to make them more suitable to today's acedemic scenario and as per the latest industrial guidelines. Exams were held on annual basis with internal assessments, regular theory & practical sessions.
