Descriptive Essay: My Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher is my history teacher, and he is by far the best teacher that I have ever had. He has the ability to make a subject that many students find incredibly boring come to life through his enthusiasm and passion for history, and his love of being a teacher. Going to his lessons is something we look forward to, not dread, like we do with most other lessons.

It’s ever so funny to watch him get excited about something, which happens in every lesson. It’s easy to know that he’s getting excited because he begins bouncing up and down slightly in a way that no other sixty-something year old would ever managed without looking completely ridiculous. He has this dark (with more and more grey streaks these days), springy hair that lines the edge of his growing bald patch, and the hair bounces up and down with him like thousands of tiny little springs. Then, he takes on his whole new persona, often going into role and becoming the character or figure he is talking about, doing the voices, the actions, and parading up and down the room gesticulating wildly, but all the while there’s a gentle ‘bounce, bounce, bounce’, as though the springs are not just on his head but on the soles of his shoes too.

A teacher that doesn’t take himself too seriously always will be a big hit with teenagers, although he’s not afraid to impose his authority if he has to. I’ve only ever heard him properly shout once (although thankfully it wasn’t it me), but it isn’t an experience that I would like to repeat. When he lost it, the room suddenly became more silent than I’d ever known it to be before. We all sat slightly paralyzed, not even anting to breathe too loudly, because hearing such a jovial and jolly little man lose his temper was a huge shock. It certainly had the right kind of impact though, because he’s never needed to shout since.

It is actually this teacher that I have to thank for my love of history. In his lessons, history does not mean copying out of textbooks and writing pages and pages of notes. History is alive; history is something tangible, that you can see, hear and feel, and we can live it through dressing up and acting out scenes or taking trips to important places of historical interest. And although he’s getting on in years and may not be teaching for much longer, he will have an important place in history for many of his students, because there has never been a teacher able to bring a subject to life in quite the same way he does.

The teacher I like most is Raman sir. He is the teacher of mathematics in our school. From the first day, all the students in the class felt very close to him because of his friendly behaviour with all of us.

I have some cherished memories with my teacher. Whenever I think of those memories, it makes me blissful. On the last day of my nursery school, I started crying at the very thought of leaving her and having a new teacher. I had fallen sick due to crying for hours together. I skipped my food. My parents were not able to do anything. They called for her to make me feel better. My teacher travelled a few miles across the city and reached the hospital. She, then, said that she would never forget any of her students and asked me to write to her. I started writing to her every week from then on and she replied to every letter of mine. Till date, I look at my teacher as my second mother and she guides me in all my difficult situations.

Conclusion:

Having a good teacher who can share an amalgamated relationship with the students is a boon. A good teacher should be a good mentor, a philosopher, a guide, a friend and above all a surrogate parent to the children. I am lucky that I had gotten one in my lifetime.

My favorite subject is English and my most favorite teacher is Chitra Ma’am. She teaches us English. She likes me a lot and appreciates my hard work. She joined our school one year ago. Before that, I was not so good at English. But after attending her classes, we have all become much better at this subject.

I like her for many reasons. First of all, she teaches the lessons in a very interesting way. Even when we have doubts or questions, she never gets upset with us. Her best quality is her loving nature. She would come to school daily without missing a day.

Her dressing sense is nice. She wears simple salwar suits. She always speaks to her students softly and respectfully. I eagerly wait for her class and do my English homework on time. Chitra Ma’am puts a lot of effort in explaining every chapter.

There are many activities given at the end of every lesson and she makes us participate in all of them. Not only that, but she also encourages us to take part in drama and poem competitions. Since her first day, she made a rule for us.

All of us has to speak in English during the English period. Every student tries to talk in English even if the sentence sounds improper. She has taught us to never laugh at each other’s mistakes. This has improved our spoken English in a great way. Now, we are able to talk in English with more confidence.

Another great quality of hers is that she treats every child equally. After explaining the lesson to us, she asks each one of us different questions about the chapter. Sometimes, we also love to talk about our personal lives, like what do we like about our lives, how our parents work hard for us, and things like that.

When we get confused or need an emotional support, she is the best person to talk to. Her advice and suggestions are always positive. Last month, on teacher’s day, all the students wished her and brought presents for her. We also sang a song to her.

I made a beautiful greeting card for her and a red rose with it. She accepted it with a smile and thanked us for everything. I feel grateful to have such a gentle and great teacher in my life who supports me in every way.

In school, you tend to interact with a lot of people who can either impact your life positively or negatively. I have several teachers now that I am in high school but there is only one whom I can relate to as “the teacher” because of the impact he has made in my life. The teacher is male, of Indian origin and has a funny accent when he speaks. He is married and has three children. Actually, one of his children is my age and I know him through tennis practice because he comes to train with us sometimes. I like him because his sense of humor gives a good learning experience for the students. He is a math teacher and he is very good at what he does. Students tend to make fun of him because of his accent but he make fun of it himself, which gets even funnier. This teacher has been a great mentor to me and other student ever since we joined high school. I met him on a personal level one day after class when I needed clarification on a topic I had not quite understood. The teacher was kind to me and guided me through it. Since then, he took his own initiative to do follow-ups on me and I became really good in math due to his efforts.

Coincidentally, he also coaches my tennis team and we meet out on the field. We have won several awards as a tennis team under him. I feel connected to the teacher through his mentorship and he has become like a school parent to me because whenever I have an issue, he is free to help me out.

How the teacher has impacted my life in school .

Mentorship goes along way depending on the approach used. When I first joined high school, I did not have much confidence in myself. This teacher mentored me and made me believe in myself. The good thing is the attention he gives t is students because most of the times, he follows up on the performances and ensures that he does everything he can to help students improve academically. He has also been a role model to me through his way of doing things. He is dedicated to his work and he is an achiever. Through following his footsteps, I have been able to dedicate myself into studies and sports, which has helped me to achieve my goals.

Types of Teachers

Old method teachers: the teachers found under this method adopt the rigid mode of impartation of knowledge. They control the class the way a king would rule over his subjects. Old method teachers are less concerned about the welfare of their learners, they are syllabus-oriented.

New method teachers: the tutors under this model are student-oriented. They are more concerned about their learners and their various levels of understanding. They accept and promote contributions in class unlike the old method teachers. New method teachers encourage the inquisitiveness of their students.

Attributes of a Teacher:

A standard teacher has all or most of the various characters imbedded in them:

Compassionate
Open-minded
A good counselor
Friendly and most importantly

Attributes of My Favorite Teacher:

Personally, I see my teacher as a mini-god because he leaves his mark on me. He influences my life in ways that enables me affect changes wherever I find myself.

He is a perfect example of the new model teachers. Basically, he is student-oriented. In the classroom, he employs the Eclectic mode of teaching (this is the combination of all the modes of teaching “discussion mode, play way mode, role play mode, question mode” so as to facilitate standard learning).

He comes into the classroom; starts the lecture with a recap of what was discussed in the previous class, gives room for the students to ask questions that arose from the last class, answers them and then starts a new topic.

To start a new topic, he starts with a mind-capturing introduction that attracts the attention of all students. Once he is through with introducing the topic, he gauges our reaction in order for him to know if his students are on the same page with him or left behind.

Then, he moves on to the discussion mode of teaching, whereby he throws questions to his students and accommodates both relevant and irrelevant answers, at the end of this model, he sieves through the answers provided, pick the relevant ones and add his own iota to it, he also always applaud the courage of all who answers his questions.

He moves either into the role play method or the play way method, here he selects students to either act out the lessons from the day’s topic or summarizes what he has taught for the day. The use of this particular mode enlightens the students more on the topic being discussed.

Finally, he moves over to the questions and revision mode, where he personally go through all he has taught over the course of the period. During this mode, he entertains questions from students on their personal areas of difficulties. Occasionally, he gives assignments to back up his teachings.

During his teachings, he pays close attention to the expression, mood, sitting posture and carriage of his students. This tells him when his students are lost, sad, worried, hungry, sick, away in dream land or simply tired.

Once he is done processing the information gotten from our faces, he either finds a way of brightening the mood of his students, bringing them back from the dream world, or ending his class without breaking his stride or alerting the whole population of students to what is currently going on.

It is only normal for a human being to reflect his mood whenever he is talking or interacting, but my teacher hardly ever allow his bad, horrible moods interfere with his teachings.

Outside the classroom, my teacher is approachable, fatherly, and jovial. He entertains all and no one is excluded from his open arms, smiles and affections.

He is a good counselor who is always ready to help me out of my tight corners. He gives twenty first century advises in a fatherly way.

Although, due to my teachers lenient ways with students, some students tend to be lazy, disrespectful, stubborn or rude. He has a way of being firm, maintaining class control while teaching.

In conclusion, my teacher has all the attributes and more of a new method teachers. He is capable of combining all modes of teaching, he is compassionate, passionate, and friendly. From my interactions with him, I can confidently say that he is one of the best teachers around.

Ms Kirti was my class educator as well and took participation in the daily activities with us as well. She was a strict instructor anyway extremely amusing and mind in nature. At the same time, she was extremely restrained and dependable. She did her work perfectly with the class at a perfect time without getting late. I liked her, particularly as she attempted simple approaches to show us beneficial things. We made the most of her class. She taught us English subject as well. She even made us giggle by telling heaps of jokes in the middle of when she taught. I’m sure you’ve come across this term before. It’s the mantra of most creative writers and their teachers. But what does it actually mean?

It’s simple really. Use words to build up a picture in your reader’s mind. Don’t just tell them things; let them see it in their mind.

For example:

Telling – The man was angry

Showing – The man jumped to his feet, his face red and frowning. He gave an unintelligible roar, spraying spittle in front of his face. He crossed the room in three quick strides, wrenching the door open and slamming it shut behind him.

Do you see the difference there? You can show the reader that the man is angry without even using the word. I’m sure I don’t need to explain why showing is a better writing technique.

Use the senses

To really bring your piece to life and make the reader feel a personal connection to your writing, use all of the senses:

Sight – Describe the physical attributes of the person

Sound – What does their speech sound like?

Touch – What do they feel like – for example, are their hands rough from years of hard work?

Smell – What smells do you associate with the person? Did they always wear a certain scent?

Taste – Do you associate any tastes with the person? Did they have a signature cake recipe that no one can match?

Step three: Edit

Reread your work, concentrating on the following:

Does the essay flow well? If not, re-order your paragraphs until it does.
Try to imagine you are reading about a stranger. Have you included enough details to make you feel like you know them? Do you know what they look like? Do you feel as though you understand their character and motivations?
Have you showed rather than told?
Of course, check your spelling, punctuation and grammar too. Have you used clichés? Too many adjectives?

If, at the end of the piece, you feel something towards the person, you have done a good job!

It's not unusual for a college admissions essay to talk about a person who played an important role in your development. Whether this is a parent, a friend, a coach, or a teacher, such essays can be powerful if they avoid common pitfalls.

Essays focused on parents or celebrities are common and often not the best choice for your focus.

With the pre-2013 Common Application , one of the essay prompts stated, "Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence." While you won't find this question among the seven 2020-21 Common Application essay prompts , the current application still allows you to write about an influential person with the "topic of your choice" option . Some of the other prompts also leave the door open for writing about an influential person.

Do Much More than Describe the Influential Person

Any essay on an influential person needs to do much more than describe that person. The act of describing requires very little critical thought, and as a result, it doesn't demonstrate the kind of analytical, reflective, and thoughtful writing that will be required of you in college. Be sure to examine why the person was influential to you, and you should analyze the ways in which you have changed because of your relationship with the person.

Think Twice About Essays on Mom or Dad

There is nothing wrong with writing about one of your parents for this essay, but make sure your relationship with your parent is unusual and compelling in some way. The admissions folks get a lot of essays that focus on a parent, and your writing won't stand out if you simply make generic points about parenting. If you find yourself making points like "my Dad was a great role model" or "my mother always pushed me to do my best," rethink your approach to the question. Consider the millions of students who could write the exact same essay.

Don't Be Star Struck

In most cases, you should avoid writing an essay about the lead singer in your favorite band or the movie star who you idolize. Such essays can be okay if handled well, but often the writer ends up sounding like a pop culture junkie rather than a thoughtful independent thinker.

Obscure Subject Matter is Fine

Be sure to read Max's essay on an influential person. Max writes about a rather unremarkable junior high kid he encountered while teaching summer camp. The essay succeeds in part because the choice of subject matter is unusual and obscure. Among a million application essays, Max's will be the only one to focus on this young boy. Also, the boy isn't even a role model. Instead, he's an ordinary kid who inadvertently makes Max challenge his preconceptions.

The "Significant Influence" Need Not Be Positive

The majority of essays written about influential people focus on role models: "my Mom/Dad/brother/friend/teacher/neighbor/coach taught me to be a better person through his or her great example..." Such essays are often excellent, but they are also a bit predictable. Keep in mind that a person can have a significant influence without having an entirely "positive" influence. Jill's essay , for example, focuses on a woman with only a few positive qualities. You could even write about someone who is abusive or hateful. Evil can have as much "influence" on us as good.

You Are Also Writing About Yourself

When you choose to write about a person who has had an influence on you, you will be most successful if you are also reflective and introspective. Your essay will be partly about the influential person, but it is equally about you. To understand someone's influence on you, you need to understand yourself — your strengths, your short-comings, the areas where you still need to grow.

As with the college admissions essay, you need to make sure a response reveals your own interests, passions, personality, and character. The details of this essay need to reveal that you are the type of person who will contribute to the campus community in a positive way.

While preparing for the IELTS , one of the areas that you have to focus on is the cue cards section, which is Part 2 of the IELTS Speaking Test .

What is a IELTS Cue Card Question?

How to answer this specific question — “describe a person you admire”, sample response 1: , sample response 2:, vocabulary tips for answering this ielts cue card question (describe a person you admire):.

The topic card handed to you at the outset of IELTS Speaking Part 2 is referred to as a ‘ cue card’ . It is a piece of paper with the topic you will be discussing written on it.

Since you only have a minute to prepare, you must take notes as soon as you receive the cue card , using the paper and pencil that are also provided.

Remember that you cannot beg the examiner to change the topic, and you must speak about it despite how much or little you know about it.

The examiner will direct you to begin your speech after the one-minute preparation period, and you must use as much of the two minutes as possible.

Following that, the examiner will ask you follow-up questions regarding your speech, which you must also respond to.

Guidelines to answer the question:

You should say

who that person is
what you usually do with this person
how often you see this person

and explain why you love/like/admire this person.

Think of a person who has had a great impact and influence on you, someone whom you had a lot of respect for. It could be a family member, a former teacher, a relative or a celebrity.
Before taking notes, ensure that you will not change your mind. Any other person is fine, just as long as you will be able to justify and explain your reasons well.
Start taking notes on who this person is and why you admire him/her. Have at least two – three reasons why you admire him/her. Do not write sentences. Simply write keywords.
Take note that you have to employ advanced vocabulary and complex grammar structures. Doing so will impress the examiner and help you achieve a great band score.
Make sure your handwriting is understandable, by you. What you write on the paper will not be graded by the examiner.
While talking about your topic, glance at the notes that you have taken from time to time. It is completely fine and is the main reason why you are given a piece of paper to write on.

“More often than not, if people are asked this question, their answer would either be a celebrity like an actor or a singer, a politician, or someone who is famous. But for me, I would have to say that the person I most admire is a family member.

For everyone, ‘family’ is the most valuable asset. One cannot exist without a family, and a family is a place where everyone may expect to get anything without expecting anything in return. That is why the person I look up to the most is my father. He keeps our family together. In my life, he is my hero. For his exceptional abilities, my father is extremely admirable.

He has led me along the right route so that I can excel in both my professional and personal lives. He aided me in every way imaginable while I was a child, and as I grew older, he showed me how to make decisions. The most essential thing is that he never compels me to do or perform something against my choice. He always gives me the benefit of the doubt, presents me the options, and leads me to choose the best path. I am now a well-known photographer in our city, thanks to his guidance. When he learned that I wanted to be a photographer, he lowered his costs in half and purchased me the first camera of my life.

My father is no longer employed and spends his time with his family and friends. Most of his pals have retired as well, and they spend their time together reminiscing about their youth. My father also takes my mom out on occasion. They spend the entire day outside and return at night, just like they did when they first married. My parents’ romanticism appeals to me. Furthermore, my father enjoys gardening and looks after the garden in front of our house. He frequently purchases flowers in various categories and requests that I photograph him with the plants.

I admire and will continue to admire my father for his honesty, integrity, and sense of duty. I have never seen him neglect his obligations to my family. My father’s most distinguishing characteristic is his compassion for people, regardless of their relationship with him. In the midst of his hundreds of tasks, he rushed to care for a member of the family who had become ill. He also used to assist the poor and keep the events hidden from us. I am extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful father.”

“Yes, I have told him before and I would definitely continue to let him know how much I admire and respect him not just as my father but as a person as well. He deserves to know the kind of impact he had on me and my siblings.”

“It’s really hard to know what the future holds, but if I would be like my father, even half of what he has accomplished, I’d be extremely grateful. He has become a good father to me and my siblings and a good husband to my mom and we couldn’t ask for anything. I sure hope to be like him when the time comes. “

“I admire a lot of people, but today, I’d like to share a story about one of my high school instructors. She had a big influence on me and was someone I looked up to as a role model.

Her name is Mrs. Lou, and she was my Math teacher for three years in high school. She was in her fifties and had a lot of experience as a teacher. She was also my form teacher, so we saw each other almost every day. She adored us and treated us as though we were her sons and daughters. For example, she always brought some medicines with her so that if any of her students developed a cold, coughed, or had any other illness, she could treat them right away.

Above all, the way she taught us in the class had the greatest impact on me. Her dedication to teaching inspired me to pursue Math, despite my previous lack of interest in the subject. I was able to ace the entrance exam in college with an excellent Math grade, thanks to her effective teaching technique. I was also impressed by her way of life, which was so modest and deserving of respect that I wanted to emulate it. She always gave us advice regarding whatever challenges we had because she is a warm-hearted person. I had the impression that she was a friend with whom I could share everything.

Despite the fact that we have all graduated from high school, my friends and I still visit her on weekends to tell her about our university lives.”

Do you ever think she’d be someone you would admire when you first stepped into her class?

“To be honest, I had no idea she’d be someone who would have a great impact on my life. Mathematics is one of those subjects that I do not like. It’s something I have struggled in even in grade school. But as time goes by, and the fact that she has made everything about Math so simple just for me and my classmates to learn about it, is something I would always remember about her.”

What else about her do you like the most?

“She has a lot of qualities about her that make her stand out from the rest of my previous teachers. She takes an extra effort to assist me and my classmates with lessons we are having difficulties with. Sometimes, she would stay in school late just to give us extra lessons. That’s something we admire about her because during those times, she didn’t get any extra pay. She did it because she was passionate about her profession.”

Preparation

My cousin laura.

Someone I admire is my cousin Laura. She’s five years older than me, so she’s 19 now and she lives in Bristol. She’s very friendly and confident and she’s got long, wavy, brown hair and greeny-brown eyes. She’s medium height, slim and very fit because she’s a dancer.

She’s been dancing since she was six years old and trains every day at her dance school. She wants to be a professional dancer, but it’s a very difficult profession because it’s so competitive. She often dances in shows and I’ve been to watch her several times. Her favourite type of dance is modern, which is sometimes a bit strange, but I love watching her dance.

Laura is very busy because she also studies photography at university. She’s a really good photographer and has taken lots of amazing photos of me and my family. Her photos have won a few prizes and last year one of her photos was in an exhibition at an art gallery in London.

Laura doesn’t have a lot of free time and she’s also trying to learn German because she wants to go to Germany next year to do a photography course. I think Laura is very hard-working and she deserves to become a professional dancer one day.

Virat Kohli is considered one of the most successful international cricketers, and I try to imbibe some of his virtues that will help them succeed in life. Virat has always inspired me with supremacy, success, and class in his game. Regardless of the team's situation during the match, Virat always tries to finish the game with self-determination, bravery, talent, and the ability to win.

I also try to succeed in my studies by drawing inspiration from his personality traits. What made Virat Kohli a youth icon is his passion for playing cricket and winning matches for his country. His commitment to his game is no longer a hidden fact. Virat has amassed runs in his successful career due to his involvement in match runs as he does not hand wickets easily to bowlers.

Why I Admire Virat Kohli

I still remember the IPL season of 2016 when he scored 973 in a single tournament. He shocked everyone that it is possible for a man to be so good at a craft. He had stitches in his hands despite he made a brilliant century. This day opened my eyes that we can do it whatever could be the circumstances. That day he became an idol for me. He showed that our interest comes secondary to that of the team's interest. It is one such instance of why I love him so much.

His professionalism inspires me to pursue my goals regardless of the circumstances. Virat Kohli is a fitness icon in the sports world, and athletes and their fans look up to him for his fitness. His commitment towards fitness teaches me the value of healthy living and fitness. Self-discipline and practice are the most important aspects of his personality. To master his game, Virat practised more and more to succeed.

Having firmly established himself in every format among many fierce rivals, Kohli is undoubtedly one of the crowning jewels of Indian cricket. Virat Kohli is a symbol of passion and dedication.

A source of inspiration to the youngster, he is a disciplined batsman and was a prolific captain who had led the Indian side to success under his captaincy. His never-giving attitude really makes me his fan. He has always motivated me and showed me the ray of hope that with passion everything can be achieved. He is an inspiration to millions including me. His infused values will remain forever in me and he will continue to be my idol.

Therefore we all have someone or the other who makes our love worth living. One who teaches us that the sky's the limit and one who always pushes us to go out of our comfort zone. They are the people who teach us to be the best version of ourselves and we should always hold onto these people and learn from them.

Lesson Plan: Teaching the Prompt “A Person You Admire”

Your mom, your math teacher, your dentist- Who is the person you admire?

Favorite Person Prompt:

We all have a favorite person, someone who we like or respect more than anyone else. Think about the person in your life you consider your favorite. What is this person like? What does this person do to make him or her your favorite? Write an essay about this person explaining what he or she is like and the things that he or she does that makes him or her so special to you.

As you write, remember your essay will be scored based on how well you:

• Develop a multi-paragraph response to the assigned topic that clearly communicates your controlling idea to the audience • Support your controlling idea with meaningful examples, reasons, and information based upon your research or readings. • Organize your essay in a clear and logical manner, including an introduction, body, and conclusion. • Use well-structured sentences and language that are appropriate for your audience. • Edit your work to conform to the conventions of standard American English.

Duration: 2 class periods of 45-55 minutes Adaptation: Upper Elementary (4-5), “A Person You Admire” Prompt, Expository Writing Printable: “Favorite Person” Lesson Plan, Middle School (6-8), Expository Writing

Teacher Background: Allison Whittenberg writes young adult novels that deal with the importance of having special people in our lives during difficult times. Day One: Who is Your Favorite Person? (offline)

1) Students use their writer’s journal to tell about someone in their life who is important to them and to explain what makes this person so special. (5 minutes) 2) Students use a concept map organizer (see below) to organize the traits and actions of the person that they have written about in their journal. Students should think of things this person has said and done that has earned them this special place in their lives. (8 minutes) 3) Teacher plays the audio file “Philadelphia and Role Models” from Author Series: Interview with Allison Whittenberg. What does Whittenberg say about role models? How are her comments relevant to the students’ experience of role models? (12 minutes) 4) Each student imagines that their favorite person is being honored with an award, and he or she has been asked to give a speech about that person. Students outline what they would say about this person’s character, admirable traits, and accomplishments, using the Prewriting Handout: Organize Your Essay . (20 minutes) 5) For homework, students write a first draft of their speech. This need not be typed.

Day 2: Peer Revision (offline)

1) Students come to class prepared with their first draft. 2) In groups of three or four, students take turns reading their drafts aloud. The student reading is referred to as the “writer.” The other students are “critics.” As the writers read their work, the critics take notes (that they will later share with the writer), considering the following questions:

• What is the relationship between the writer and their favorite person? • What has the “favorite person” done to earn this position in the writer’s eyes? • What was the most vivid example that the writer used? • Are there any questions that the writer left unanswered? What more would you like to know? (15 minutes)

3) Following the reading of the speech (i.e., the expository essay), the critics discuss their responses to the above questions. The writer listens carefully, taking notes. (10 minutes) 4) After everyone has shared with their group, each group selects one writer to read his/her draft to the class. The writer and his/her critics then highlight three points of feedback about that specific essay. (20 minutes)

Day Three: Attacking the Prompt (online)

1) Using their prewriting materials and peer feedback from the day before to guide them, students begin drafting their essay in MY Access! Teacher circulates throughout the classroom or computer lab, spending a few minutes with each student discussing the direction of his/her essay. If they wish, students may submit once after 20 minutes. After a student has submitted, the teacher should focus his/her instruction on making sure that the student understands the feedback he/she received. For example, if a student has a revision goal that states, “Use transitional words to help connect your ideas,” you may conduct a mini-lesson in which you introduce them to Transient Transitions . (30 minutes) 2) Students submit again. They should receive a holistic score and, paging down, should find “My Tutor Revision Goals.” Students should select two revision goals and write the goals in their writers’ journals as reminders. (3 minutes) 3) Teacher asks students for one revision goal and copies it onto the board. Teacher reviews any necessary vocabulary, like “thesis statement.” Students suggest strategies for how one would complete the example revision goal. For example, if the revision goal is “Understand and write for your audience,” students might suggest, “You should tell some jokes about your favorite person,” or “You should be respectful at all times.” (7 minutes) 4) Using the Revision Plan Guidelines, students copy their revision goals under MY Goals. Then, considering his/her specific essay, each student brainstorms strategies to achieve his/her goals. Teacher circulates throughout the classroom, ensuring that each student fully understands his/her goals. (10 minutes) 5) Students may begin working on an additional draft of their essays for homework.

When asked about the person I admire in the universe, I do not require to look at celebrities or any other big influential names in society. When it comes to me, the person I admire most in the world is my mother. We all have people whom we consider to be highly inspirational and influential to look upon, and in my case, my mother is an excellent example of these characters. She is an extraordinary person in my life because of her enduring strength that I dearly admire, and she is also kind as well as supportive.

One thing I most admire about my mother for is her strength, which appears to be resistant throughout hard times. My mother is a single mother, and she has managed to raise three children all by herself, providing us with a good life and education, while still balancing work. For instance, when my brother and I cleared high school, only one of us hoped to join college because of our financial situation, but she worked two jobs to ensure that we enrolled in college. Single mothers across the globe face financial instability where they are forced to engage in other strategies to extend income to take care of their family (West et al. 359). I hold great admiration for my mother because of her determination, how she never backs down, and the way she stands up for what she believes in no matter the hardships that come along.

My mother has a striking appearance, but behind this, she is very alluring, admirable, and kind. At first, one can conclude that she is a blunt and cold person because of her quiet nature, but after knowing her, she turns out to be a friendly, warm-hearted, gentle, and generous person. My mother has been a dedicated individual in the society through volunteering in church during weekends and holidays as well as helping in the local homeless shelters. Kindness is crucial and healthy since one takes pride in caring for others since they need caring, and it gives people a pleasant feeling (Adamu par. 6). Thanks to my mother, I have grown to be a kind-hearted and deeply-caring person since I believe that it's upon me to help those in need whenever I am capable.

I am lucky to have a mother who always supports me no matter my misgivings. No matter the activity I am in or the decision I make, my mother is still there for me to give me advice and encouragement, but at the end of the day, she is at all times by my side. I had a difficult time adapting to my first year in high school, and I almost quit, but my mum listened to my grievances, and with her support, I managed to finish high school. Supportive behavior is crucial for individual well-being, especially when it comes to emotional support, where a person can be able to relieve distress from a challenge (MacGeorge and Van Swol 7). My mother's supportive character has given me the strength to endure a lot of challenging situations in life as well as learn a lot in what life has to offer.

Special people like my mother exist to make our lives better and to mold us to become a better version of ourselves. My mother is a strong spirited person, kind-hearted, has unbreakable strength and very supportive. Over the years, I have learned a lot through her character and thoughts, which have molded me to the caring, decent, and brilliant person I am today. The people around us turn out to be the best role models.
