Modern Technology: Advantages and Disadvantages Report

Disadvantages and potential solutions.

Due to the development of modern technology, humanity is presented with new inventions capable of facilitating everyday life almost every year. Nowadays, people have a variety of technological solutions to use. Sophisticated gadgets, new opportunities for instant communication, and other things are meant to improve people’s experiences with daily tasks. Despite the benefits of new technology, it can affect people by causing cognitive problems or issues related to inappropriate content, and such concerns require common users’ active participation to be reduced.

The use of modern technology is increasing rapidly, and it can have both positive and negative consequences. According to Farmer and Lafond (2016), even though technological progress is “a driver of economic growth,” this process should be highly predictable and historically trackable to avoid economic collapses and other issues (p. 647). It means that sometimes, rapid technological growth and digitalization can present a problem since the rates of technological advancement can be incompatible with social conditions. First of all, modern technology can become dangerous when it is overused, or the resources needed for its implementation are more significant than its actual benefits. Apart from that, there are numerous concerns related to modern technology’s supposed impact on people’s health.

The Role of Technology

People use modern technology daily, but its effects and the perceived benefits may vary depending on its type. For instance, numerous food production technologies have been improved recently. All individuals who do not produce alimentary products on their own present a party that receives benefits in this regard. The same is true when it comes to new technology in construction, healthcare, and many other fields of activity. The field typically associated with the most obvious growth of impact on people’s daily lives is information and communications technology. According to Given et al. (2016), in 2010, more than 90% of teenagers from the United States had an opportunity to access the Internet. The increasing access to technologies for data sharing and communication impacts millions of people, encouraging them to become faster at data searching, which is particularly important for educational purposes. Therefore, in general, modern technology heavily impacts people’s lives, removing the necessity of tiring housework activities and facilitating communication.

The advantages of technological growth are numerous, and they strictly relate to specific fields. For example, in ITC, technological advancement leads to faster exchange of information, which has positive implications to awareness of disastrous events, people’s overall area of thought, and access to new knowledge. To some extent, new opportunities in ITC are capable of reducing finance-based barriers to information. As for other advantages, some examples of new technology can be life-saving (Farmer & Lafond; 2016; Hamet, & Tremblay, 2017). For instance, the emergence of new medical robots helps to eliminate mistakes related to the human factor and monitor “the guided delivery of drugs to target organs, tissues, and tumors” (Hamet, & Tremblay, 2017, p. S39). As is clear from this example, further technological advancement can potentially increase the quality of medical care by reducing the rates of complications. In general, new technology is advantageous since it facilitates education and can help to eliminate medical mistakes.

The disadvantages of modern technology involve numerous risks related to people’s cognitive intelligence and children’s healthy development. Nowadays, even pre-school children have access to gadgets and some online sources, which helps them to learn “by modeling the adult world” (Given et al., 2016, p. 350). This “world” may involve different types of content, and the age-appropriateness of children’s online activities presents a significant issue to discuss. Samaha and Hawi (2017) report that “American youth intense exposure to new media systems
negatively affects their sexuality” (p. 352). This fact adds to the problem of technology use related to exposure to unwanted materials. According to Moledina and Khoja (2018), “overindulgence on the internet and internet-enabled devices causes cognitive impairment such as reduced attention and decreased memory span” (p. 12). Nowadays, many children possess technology literacy, but as research indicates, memory issues at an early age are a reverse of the coin. Both disadvantages discussed in the section are related to problems widely discussed today, and the ability to address them is crucial.

The problem related to the exposure to age-inappropriate materials with the help of new technology can be solved due to the concerted efforts of parents and software developers. Apart from using applications helping to filter content, parents can reduce unwanted influences on their children by introducing specific rules at home (Samaha & Hawi, 2017). Among other things, time limits related to media use can make children more disciplined. The next issue, the threat of cognitive impairment, should be solved with the help of focused education and again, parental control. For instance, Moledina and Khoja (2018) recommend the so-called digital diet and increased social activity to both adults and children. These measures are supposed to help a person strike the right balance between online and real-life activities, thus helping to prevent addiction to technology.

Finally, although the growth of research and new technology has several advantages related to people’s quality of life and the amount of time needed to perform certain operations, its negative effects deserve close attention and specific solutions. Technology overuse and the availability of age-inappropriate content are among the most obvious negative effects of technological advancement. To solve such problems, people should become more conscious concerning modern technology and closely monitor their children’s use of it.

23 Biggest Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology

What do you think about when you hear the word “technology”?

If you are like most people, then you will think about the favorite gadgets that you use each day. That means the image in your mind might be that of a computer, a smartphone, or a video game console.

Others think about the tools that they use in their profession. You might picture robotics, a smart appliance, or an automobile.

Technology is the entirety of our collective knowledge. Every task or action that we take uses the technological history of humanity to encourage productivity. We might consider ourselves to be an advanced civilization today, but on universal terms, it wasn’t that long ago when humans thought that fire was the smartest thing ever invented.

And the wheel? Life-changing!

When we look at the advantages and disadvantages of technology, then it is essential to keep a historical perspective instead of a modern one. We might have the ability to be more productive today than at any other time in history, but every generation can say that because of the collective nature of this wisdom.

List of the Advantages of Technology

1. Technology gives us ways to eliminate repetition. We use technology as a way to make our lives better in each generation. That means a different point of emphasis occurs in its development. At the turn of the 20th century, we were focused on transportation. 100 years before that, we were focused on industrialization. Right now, we are looking at the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning as a way to eliminate the repetition issues that we see in our society.

When we can remove repetition from our routines, then we can focus on the creative endeavors that technology cannot duplicate. It allows us to maintain or improve upon current productivity levels while exploring new ideas.

2. It gives us the ability to create more equality in our society. Technology allows us to create resources for people who need specific areas of assistance. It took a long time for Helen Keller to become the first person who is blind and deaf to earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. She proved to us that people are more resilient than we often give them credit for if we classify ourselves as being “normal.”

We use technology in this area to create artificial joints, cardiovascular implants, or artificial limbs. Surgeons use new practices with better tools to create improved health outcomes. Where a Civil War physician might have amputated limb, modern medicine repairs the condition without such losses more often than not. It gives us a new way to adapt to disabilities that can impact the human race.

3. We have more knowledge available to us because of technology. We often use technology as a way to learn new skills, ideas, or concepts. Everything from a pen to the device you are using to read this content fits into this advantage. Modern classrooms integrate several tools that students can use simultaneously to facilitate their learning. It doesn’t need to be a complex invention to help us all create more learning opportunities. Our literacy rates and understanding of mathematics are at all-time highs because of the benefits that happen through technology.

4. Technology lets us have fun in unique ways. Have you ever played a mobile game on your smartphone? Do you have an Xbox or a PlayStation console at home? Then you have first-hand experience with this benefit. When we can have fun, then our brains can retain more of the information that we learn each day. That’s why our knowledge base continues to rise rapidly when compared to previous generations.

People got into specific professions in the past through lecture-based apprenticeships and classroom learning structures. That process resulted in an average learning capacity of 5%. Because of the interactive nature of today’s technology, we can immediately debate and practice new concepts or skills in the comfort of a classroom environment or home-based learning opportunity. That results in an average learning capacity of 90%.

5. We understand the value of money better because of technology. We have transitioned from an economy that focused on physical cash to one that uses digital representations of money. Your wages can be directly deposited into your bank account today. Then you can access those funds by using a debit card. It is possible to spend thousands of dollars every day without seeing any physical money because of the technologies found in this area.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies seek ways to take this concept to another level. This technology creates a borderless solution that eliminates the need for governments to get involved with currency development.

6. Technology allows us to be more efficient with our time. When was the last time you spend more than 10 minutes in a queue? Although there are places where standing in line is still necessary, technology allows us to create proactive ways to avoid excessive waiting. You can order food in advance from a restaurant to pick it up, shop for groceries online to have the store deliver them to your door, and use other conveniences to make life easier.

This benefit allows us to explore more of our world because we are spending less time waiting around to meet our basic essentials.

7. We become innovators because of technology. Many companies are exploring ways to embrace the idea of a digital revolution. We are in the middle of a new global development period where new techniques can create better efficiencies in almost every industry. The organizations that were early adopters of this concept are today’s leaders within their industry. We can do more in less space and time because of what technology offers to us every day.

When our focus can be on innovation, then we have new opportunities to focus on the development of humanity. Whether our focus is on medicine and curing cancer, or it stays on computers and communication networking, we have access to a multitude of efficiencies that wouldn’t be possible without technology.

8. Prices go down as technology levels improve. Labor costs are usually the most significant expense for a business. That’s why outsourcing is a common practice in the United States. When countries like China, Bangladesh, or India have a lower standard of living without compromising the quality of delivered work, it allows for a cheaper price on consumer goods.

Technology will take this concept to the next level. Instead of moving 300,000 jobs overseas, artificial intelligence and machine learning could directly replace all of those employees. Although it would create new jobs in programming and management, automation will create efficiencies that can dramatically lower future prices. We already see this in some industries, like the fast-food niche, where it costs less to order items now than it did in the past.

9. Technology improves our ability to communicate with one another. Did you have the Internet in your home in 1995? If you did, then you likely experienced one of the most revolutionary increases in communication technology. Online chatting made it possible to talk with other people from all over the world by using only your computer. This leap in networking allowed us to start taking advantage of what diversity provides our culture. We could begin to celebrate our differences instead of being scared by them.

We may have gone from chat rooms to social media, but the concept of instant messaging remains the same. Technology greatly improved our ability to communicate with each other. It’s up to each of us to maximize that benefit.

10. We can go further and faster than ever because of technology. The Hyperloop proposes to transport humans at faster speeds than ever accomplished before and history on our planet. Although we have sent astronauts to the moon multiple times, the top speeds for planetary transportation max out at 2,200 mph. New technologies could help us to double that speed without military applications in the next decade.

Even when we look at the fastest vehicles that we use today, we are still traveling further and faster than in the past. The Boeing 787 operates at a cruising speed of Mach 0.95, allowing anyone who can afford a ticket the option to travel almost anywhere in the world in a single day. Many of these technologies are extremely safe to use, enabling us to experience cultures in ways that were never possible before.

11. Technology adds convenience to our lives. Can you imagine trying to find a specific destination while using an atlas? Technology allows us to embrace the idea of convenience without needing significant wealth to enjoy it. We can order food for delivery online from a favorite pizza place, purchase almost anything we want on a website like Amazon, or travel just about anywhere in the world with GPS.

These technologies don’t always give us the exact results we expect, but the convenience it offers is worth any potential hassle. You can download an app from virtually any business, use it to purchase something or make a reservation, and continue on with your day without being tied to a desk.

12. We have access to more information than ever before in our history. One of the favorite ways that commentators use to describe this advantage of technology involves newspaper content. Unless you were in a major city like Philadelphia or New York City, the average size of a local paper was a single page. You would find about the same amount of information on that one piece of paper as you can on the average website’s home page today. Whether that observation is real or farcical is up for debate, but the idea is solid.

Technology helps us to see numerous perspectives instead of a single one. We can read blogs from people in almost any country, access local news from almost anywhere, and stay connected to the lives of our family members and friends with social media.

List of the Disadvantages of Technology

1. Technology has addictive qualities that some people must manage. Have you ever checked your smartphone to see if there were any texts or notifications that you had missed? The average person looks at their device almost 100 times per day. We are so connected to the information access that we have because of technology that it feels like an addiction. We can stream movies, play games, and have access to other entertainment options almost everywhere on our planet.

Unless we can be in control of our choices, technology creates the disadvantage of making us pay attention to it instead of the people around us.

2. It is easier to falsify one’s qualifications because of technology. Some people live by the philosophy that you need to “fake it to make it.” Because we have access to so much information today, it is much easier for someone to falsify their qualifications. That also means the ability to copy or plagiarize previous publications is more common now than arguably at any other point in our history. Unless our laws and regulations catch up with the innovations that we produce each year, we have no recourse to stop these behaviors.

False personas are only one issue to consider with this disadvantage. Since the election of Donald Trump in 2016, fake news has become a new lexicon in our global language. It is up to each of us to determine if the content we consume or share is real. We have enough information to verify facts, but do we have the will power to make that investment?

3. People can threaten others anonymously because of technology. We live in a culture that is rather judgmental today. Although the goal seems to be an effort to bring out the best in each of us, technology tends to empower individuals to tear others down instead. Behaviors like stalking, bullying, and verbal threats are much higher today because it is possible to stay somewhat anonymous. As we have seen in recent years, emboldened people who can conduct themselves in this way online can transition their choices into real-life scenarios.

4. Technology allows us to manipulate content to create echo chambers. If we want to live in a world of lies, technology allows us to accomplish that goal. Deep-fake videos, satirical content, and one-sided pros enable the formation of echo chambers that can create a false reality. Unless we have the desire to authenticate every content item we consume, the odds that real data gets shared is equal to false information. Anyone who knows how to turn on a computer can figure out how to manipulate videos, photos, and other materials to create whatever reality they prefer.

This issue creates a unique problem in life. If everyone prefers to live in a world of falsehoods, then how do we find a place to share some common ground?

5. People work longer hours than ever before because of technology. The average worker who has telecommuting responsibilities with their profession will work an average of seven hours more than someone who commutes to an office every day. When we look at the progression of technology in farming, there are fewer workers in the agricultural sector because today’s tools make workers more productive. It’s a lot faster to plow a field with a tractor than it is to do the work with a couple of horses.

Since most of our communication for our professions occurs through email, we must consciously decide to disconnect from our networks to get a break from our careers. If we are unable to do so, then it can lead to burnout, higher stress levels, and health concerns. It’s telling that about half of people feel like they need to stay in contact with their job even when they are on vacation.

6. Technology can create social disconnects that we struggle to manage. Instead of having an in-person conversation with a family member or loved one, our comfort zone today occurs in social media and with technology. We might be communicating with others more often than ever before, but the quality of those conversations is somewhat lacking. Think about the last text conversation that you had with someone. How many sentences were there in that message?

Writers today are encouraged to create short sentences that use simple words because people are in such a hurry. This disadvantage creates a social disconnect because we are not entirely communicating everything we want to say. With our increased use of emojis, society has come full circle from the Egyptians and their hieroglyphics.

7. We don’t always know how to repair the technologies we use. Did one of your parents teach you how to fix a car before you would be allowed to drive it? Our world has changed a lot in recent years, and many of the technologies that we use daily our items that we don’t know how to fix if they break. That means new industries and economic development can develop in the service sector, but it also places us at a disadvantage when we need assistance. We have become more dependent on others to make our lives easier because of the technological progress we’ve made over the years.

8. Technology creates a new series of data security issues to manage. Hundreds of millions of people have suffered identity theft issues in recent years because of data breach incidents. Whether it was The Home Depot, Capital One, or Experian, the lack of privacy that we have in today’s culture is surprising. People have fast access to our payment information, home address, and birthdays because of the effectiveness of search engine technologies – even if you aren’t on the Dark Web.

If you initiate a web search that says “find [insert name],” then you’ll receive multiple results with pictures and public information to review. When your name is somewhat unique, then anyone can find you almost immediately.

9. Automation can make us lazy. The idea of working smarter instead of harder might be a reflection of a desire to be more productive, but it is also a representation of the changes that we see in our culture. Many of today’s jobs are sedentary, and the programming of artificial intelligence in the future is only going to increase this disadvantage. If we allow machines to do all of our heavy lifting, then it is up to each person to get the physical exercise needed outside of their professional responsibilities to maintain their health.

10. We must create new laws that stay up-to-date with the latest tech trends. Technology can change so rapidly that new ideas can become a reality in less than a year. Trying to keep up with these changes from a legal standpoint can feel like an impossible task. Bitcoin has been around for over a decade, but only now are their processes and procedures being developed to use blockchain technology. We are unable to keep up with this evolution, then it can become impossible to protect individual freedoms in some ways.

11. Technology can produce dangerous outcomes if we allow it. Nuclear weapons are a technology. We can justify their existence by saying that we need to defend ourselves or others, but it comes at a high cost. Just ask the people who lived through the atomic explosions at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It is essential to remember in the advantages and disadvantages of technology that we are responsible for making it a positive or negative experience.

We can communicate in ways like never before. We also have the ability to destroy entire civilizations like never before.

That’s why our focus must be on responsibility instead of dependency. When we can get the little things right at home with technology, then we are building a foundation of assistance that can reach out to our neighborhoods, communities, and countries. If we can remain disciplined in our actions, then we can accomplish anything.

During the last few decades, technology has experienced an unbelievable elevation. As a direct consequence, we are now living in a world where technology is everywhere. If you look around you, you will realize that technological advancements have made those feats possible that were unimaginable even a hundred years back.

disadvantages of modern technology essay

From automation decreasing the requirement of physical labor to achieve complex tasks to designing the world’s fastest-running car, modern technology is progressing at an unprecedented speed. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that there is not a single aspect of human life left that modern technology has not touched. Even the smartphone or computer you are using to read this article is a blessing of it.

However, just like all other things on this planet, modern technology has its fair share of advantages and disadvantages. Below, we will attempt to carefully observe some of the  advantages and disadvantages of modern technology . Doing so will help us develop a more in-depth outlook on what modern technology and its inventions have to offer. So, please keep reading on.

N o t a b l e p r o s a n d c o n s o f m o d e r n t e c h n o l o g y

As we have mentioned already, it is not all roses when it comes to modern technology. Besides the good things, it has some negative impacts on us as well. Below, we will first list the pros and then cons of modern technological advancements. These advantages/disadvantages affect all of us to a certain degree:

Advantages of Modern Technology

Modern technology has multiple advantages. Some of them are:

1. Modern technology has helped cut costs and time

advantages & disadvantages of modern technology

One of the major goals of modern technology is to decrease costs. Technological advancements have made it possible to cut hiring costs, as powerful machines can easily handle the work that required lots of workers and that too, way more efficiently. This allows a company to hire fewer workers, cutting costs.

As production costs decrease, products are becoming available in the market at a much cheaper price. And, as a result, more people are becoming capable of buying things that they always wanted.

Besides costs, it also aids in achieving tasks at a much faster rate, therefore, cutting time too. Time is precious. Advanced machines have made performing complex tasks easier. Along with that, automation has proved to be handy as well.

Because of automation, individuals don’t have to perform various difficult, time-consuming tasks manually anymore. All this has contributed to saving time and allowing us to focus on things that have more significance.

2. Modern technology has made it easier to access information

Pros and Cons of modern technology

As technology progresses, accessing a world of information is becoming more and more effortless. The invention of the internet is a massive boon to mankind. With the help of the internet, we can get our hands on any kind of knowledge.

All information is available online. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., act as gateways to this world of information. All we have to do is to type what we want to know about and within seconds, search results will appear.

From tutorials to study materials to peer-reviewed journals – the internet has it all. What took laborious searching in relevant books and library visits is now available on your handheld device. From online magazines to portals to blogs – gathering news about the world from the comforts of your home has become a cakewalk. Isn’t it crazy?

3. Modern technology has improved the banking experience

Pros & Cons of modern technology

The rapid progress of technology has had a positive influence on the banking sector too. This influence becomes as clear as day if we take a look at how banks operated a few decades ago and how they operate today.

One of the key reasons behind the modernization of technology is to make complex and difficult work easier for the masses. And, needless to say, it has made banking an easy and hassle-free experience for people.

For example, net banking has empowered individuals to make transactions, apply for a new checkbook, enquire about their balance, and do various other things from home. They don’t have to visit their nearest branch anymore.

Also, think about ATM s. The introduction of the ATM facility has enabled us to withdraw or deposit cash from dedicated machines without visiting the bank. Besides, we can change our PIN, check our balance, or even transfer funds to a recipient right from an ATM.

All this has made banking increasingly effortless and has eliminated the need to stand in long, tiring queues for the most trivial of matters. Plus, credit and debit cards let you buy something or withdraw cash from anywhere. Hence, there is no need to carry cash in your pocket all the time.

4. Modern technology has enriched communication

Pros of modern technology

Technology has facilitated communication to a great extent. In the modern world, communicating with others has become a cakewalk, thanks to the rapid development and unimaginable innovations of technology.

Even some fifty years ago, people used to write letters or went to STD booths to connect with their loved ones. But today, we have smartphones, laptops, social media, etc. These inventions have revolutionized ways of communication and made it possible to connect with our near ones no matter where they are. We can even video call them and see their faces even when we are far away. And that too, in seconds.

Besides personal communication, modern technology has made business/corporate communication easier as well. From attending client calls to remote workers taking part in video conferences – everything is becoming simpler as technology keeps reaching new heights.

5. Modern technology has revolutionized the health sector

advantages of modern technology

The health industry has undoubtedly benefitted from rapid technological development and has been able to save more lives than it ever did before. Hospitals have started utilizing modern machines and devices to detect diseases at a faster rate.

Doctors have also become capable of monitoring their patients much more easily. Even in cases of surgeries, the addition of modern machines has made the surgical procedure way more precise. And where lives are at stake, fast and precise treatment is crucial.

Besides hospitals, technology has proved to be a blessing for maintaining personal health too. Think about fitness bands for a second. These tiny yet powerful devices help us keep track of our overall health without any hassle.

Disadvantages

Disadvantages of Modern Technology

Now that we have explained the advantages, let us list out the disadvantages of modern technology:

1. Modern technology contaminates the environment

disadvantages of modern technology

With the progress of technology, the environment and biodiversity are facing a catastrophe. Harmful elements of various products are destroying both the well-being of living beings as well as the planet.

E-waste, plastic bottles, smartphone parts, chemical waste, deadly gases released from factories and vehicles, etc., harm our environment in unimaginable ways. And the worst part? Some of these damages are irreparable.

2. Modern technology causes distraction

Cons of modern technology

Today, almost every person has a smartphone in their hands. People are becoming more focused on gadgets, mobile phones, television, etc., than their work or study.

Children are playing video games on their phones all day instead of studying, playing with their friends, or doing something productive.

Adults are immersed in social media and getting isolated from their friends, family, and society. They don’t want to go out, meet anyone, or socialize. And as a result, people are becoming more and more distracted with each passing day.

3. Modern technology gives rise to crimes

disadvantage of modern technology

Although modern technology has benefitted society a lot, it has also proved to be dangerous when in the hands of people with crooked intentions. Cybercrimes are one such example. Using technology, hackers are causing harm to people through computers and networks.

As technology advances, crimes like email fraud, crypto-jacking, data theft, ransomware attacks, cyber espionage, and more are becoming rampant. People are not safe anymore, even within their four walls.

4. Modern technology brings about unemployment

Con of modern technology

An increase in unemployment is a big concern in today’s world. And the modernization of technology has only worsened that issue. More people are losing their jobs because of the massive automation in various sectors.

A single machine is achieving what required many workers in the past. So, as a means to cut costs and time, employers are not willing to hire human workers. That means the scope of getting jobs is shrinking day by day, and more people are becoming unemployed.

5. Technology negatively impacts people’s creativity

disadvantages of modern technology essay

When human beings try to do something unique from scratch, it stimulates their creativity. Using their creative powers, people can create something remarkable, extraordinary, and out of the box. However, technological advancements have made everything so easy that people are reluctant to employ their deep thinking and creative skills anymore. Take AI, for instance.

Before the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), creating something fresh and exceptional took a lot of creativity from the creator. But with the help of AI, it is possible to produce eye-catching artwork from only a text prompt. While this has reduced time and energy consumption, it has also taken a toll on people’s inventiveness. With AI at their disposal, even individuals with absolutely zero talent can create something mind-blowing.

Instead of relying on their own capacities and skills, human beings are becoming increasingly dependent on modern technological inventions and gadgets. This dangerous tendency is gradually messing up the ingenuity of individuals and hindering their creative development even though they are unaware of it.

Conclusion of Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Technology

Conclusion

As you can see, modern technology has both been a savior and a destructor of the society and environment. Like all other things on this planet, there are  advantages and disadvantages of modern technology . However, our future depends entirely on how we use it.

If we keep in mind the negative effects and use technology in a balanced manner, it will take mankind to new heights. On the other hand, if we go to extremes, it will only bring doom. Let good sense and prudence triumph!

Essay on Technology

The word "technology" and its uses have immensely changed since the 20th century, and with time, it has continued to evolve ever since. We are living in a world driven by technology. The advancement of technology has played an important role in the development of human civilization, along with cultural changes. Technology provides innovative ways of doing work through various smart and innovative means.

Electronic appliances, gadgets, faster modes of communication, and transport have added to the comfort factor in our lives. It has helped in improving the productivity of individuals and different business enterprises. Technology has brought a revolution in many operational fields. It has undoubtedly made a very important contribution to the progress that mankind has made over the years.

The Advancement of Technology:

Technology has reduced the effort and time and increased the efficiency of the production requirements in every field. It has made our lives easy, comfortable, healthy, and enjoyable. It has brought a revolution in transport and communication. The advancement of technology, along with science, has helped us to become self-reliant in all spheres of life. With the innovation of a particular technology, it becomes part of society and integral to human lives after a point in time.

Technology is Our Part of Life:

Technology has changed our day-to-day lives. Technology has brought the world closer and better connected. Those days have passed when only the rich could afford such luxuries. Because of the rise of globalisation and liberalisation, all luxuries are now within the reach of the average person. Today, an average middle-class family can afford a mobile phone, a television, a washing machine, a refrigerator, a computer, the Internet, etc. At the touch of a switch, a man can witness any event that is happening in far-off places.

Benefits of Technology in All Fields:

We cannot escape technology; it has improved the quality of life and brought about revolutions in various fields of modern-day society, be it communication, transportation, education, healthcare, and many more. Let us learn about it.

Technology in Communication:

With the advent of technology in communication, which includes telephones, fax machines, cellular phones, the Internet, multimedia, and email, communication has become much faster and easier. It has transformed and influenced relationships in many ways. We no longer need to rely on sending physical letters and waiting for several days for a response. Technology has made communication so simple that you can connect with anyone from anywhere by calling them via mobile phone or messaging them using different messaging apps that are easy to download.

Innovation in communication technology has had an immense influence on social life. Human socialising has become easier by using social networking sites, dating, and even matrimonial services available on mobile applications and websites.

Today, the Internet is used for shopping, paying utility bills, credit card bills, admission fees, e-commerce, and online banking. In the world of marketing, many companies are marketing and selling their products and creating brands over the internet.

In the field of travel, cities, towns, states, and countries are using the web to post detailed tourist and event information. Travellers across the globe can easily find information on tourism, sightseeing, places to stay, weather, maps, timings for events, transportation schedules, and buy tickets to various tourist spots and destinations.

Technology in the Office or Workplace:

Technology has increased efficiency and flexibility in the workspace. Technology has made it easy to work remotely, which has increased the productivity of the employees. External and internal communication has become faster through emails and apps. Automation has saved time, and there is also a reduction in redundancy in tasks. Robots are now being used to manufacture products that consistently deliver the same product without defect until the robot itself fails. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology are innovations that are being deployed across industries to reap benefits.

Technology has wiped out the manual way of storing files. Now files are stored in the cloud, which can be accessed at any time and from anywhere. With technology, companies can make quick decisions, act faster towards solutions, and remain adaptable. Technology has optimised the usage of resources and connected businesses worldwide. For example, if the customer is based in America, he can have the services delivered from India. They can communicate with each other in an instant. Every company uses business technology like virtual meeting tools, corporate social networks, tablets, and smart customer relationship management applications that accelerate the fast movement of data and information.

Technology in Education:

Technology is making the education industry improve over time. With technology, students and parents have a variety of learning tools at their fingertips. Teachers can coordinate with classrooms across the world and share their ideas and resources online. Students can get immediate access to an abundance of good information on the Internet. Teachers and students can access plenty of resources available on the web and utilise them for their project work, research, etc. Online learning has changed our perception of education.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought a paradigm shift using technology where school-going kids continued their studies from home and schools facilitated imparting education by their teachers online from home. Students have learned and used 21st-century skills and tools, like virtual classrooms, AR (Augmented Reality), robots, etc. All these have increased communication and collaboration significantly.

Technology in Banking:

Technology and banking are now inseparable. Technology has boosted digital transformation in how the banking industry works and has vastly improved banking services for their customers across the globe.

Technology has made banking operations very sophisticated and has reduced errors to almost nil, which were somewhat prevalent with manual human activities. Banks are adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase their efficiency and profits. With the emergence of Internet banking, self-service tools have replaced the traditional methods of banking.

You can now access your money, handle transactions like paying bills, money transfers, and online purchases from merchants, and monitor your bank statements anytime and from anywhere in the world. Technology has made banking more secure and safe. You do not need to carry cash in your pocket or wallet; the payments can be made digitally using e-wallets. Mobile banking, banking apps, and cybersecurity are changing the face of the banking industry.

Manufacturing and Production Industry Automation:

At present, manufacturing industries are using all the latest technologies, ranging from big data analytics to artificial intelligence. Big data, ARVR (Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality), and IoT (Internet of Things) are the biggest manufacturing industry players. Automation has increased the level of productivity in various fields. It has reduced labour costs, increased efficiency, and reduced the cost of production.

For example, 3D printing is used to design and develop prototypes in the automobile industry. Repetitive work is being done easily with the help of robots without any waste of time. This has also reduced the cost of the products.

Technology in the Healthcare Industry:

Technological advancements in the healthcare industry have not only improved our personal quality of life and longevity; they have also improved the lives of many medical professionals and students who are training to become medical experts. It has allowed much faster access to the medical records of each patient.

The Internet has drastically transformed patients' and doctors’ relationships. Everyone can stay up to date on the latest medical discoveries, share treatment information, and offer one another support when dealing with medical issues. Modern technology has allowed us to contact doctors from the comfort of our homes. There are many sites and apps through which we can contact doctors and get medical help.

Breakthrough innovations in surgery, artificial organs, brain implants, and networked sensors are examples of transformative developments in the healthcare industry. Hospitals use different tools and applications to perform their administrative tasks, using digital marketing to promote their services.

Technology in Agriculture:

Today, farmers work very differently than they would have decades ago. Data analytics and robotics have built a productive food system. Digital innovations are being used for plant breeding and harvesting equipment. Software and mobile devices are helping farmers harvest better. With various data and information available to farmers, they can make better-informed decisions, for example, tracking the amount of carbon stored in soil and helping with climate change.

Disadvantages of Technology:

People have become dependent on various gadgets and machines, resulting in a lack of physical activity and tempting people to lead an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Even though technology has increased the productivity of individuals, organisations, and the nation, it has not increased the efficiency of machines. Machines cannot plan and think beyond the instructions that are fed into their system. Technology alone is not enough for progress and prosperity. Management is required, and management is a human act. Technology is largely dependent on human intervention.

Computers and smartphones have led to an increase in social isolation. Young children are spending more time surfing the internet, playing games, and ignoring their real lives. Usage of technology is also resulting in job losses and distracting students from learning. Technology has been a reason for the production of weapons of destruction.

Dependency on technology is also increasing privacy concerns and cyber crimes, giving way to hackers.

Essay about technology advantages and disadvantages – Analytical Essay

Introduction

Technology is now a big part of our society and our foreseeable future. There is little room for people that wish to live without technology, and luckily, it is still advancing at a rate that has helped stave off stagnation. Here I analyze the advantages and disadvantages of technology

Thesis statement

I believe that for every advantage that technology brings us, it also brings us a disadvantage at the same time.

Analysis of cars on our roads

Cars and other vehicles are now readily available and are technologically advanced enough to be safe for use every day and to work as a reliable tool for getting people and goods from one place to another in a relatively short space of time.

The advantages of cars are that they are safe and that people can get to very specific places as per their own timeline. People do not have to rely on trains or planes in order to get to where they want to go, and they can set off at their own time and arrive when they wish without having to work around a train or plane schedule.

The disadvantage is that all forms of vehicle on our roads are polluting the atmosphere and are slowly killing the earth by adding to greenhouse gasses that do not allow the sun’s heat to escape. Even electric cars are powered by electricity generated by fossil fuels. Car accidents are also a very big killer worldwide and many lives have been lost because of car accidents/incidents.

Analysis of Smartphones

They allow people to stay in touch, even over long distances, and they are relatively safe and reliable to use. There are devices that can communicate with plus at the other end of the planet and getting and keeping in touch with other people is very easy.

The disadvantages to this is that it means people no longer need to meet in person as much, and interpersonal relationships are suffering worldwide because people are communicating through a small handheld device. Lots of people have Smartphones and they use them almost semi-continuously, including in public settings when they could be making new friends, finding new lovers, and talking/interacting with their current friends. Analysis – Fast and efficient Internet access

The advantages are that people can communicate over vast distances and can gain access to information and answers to their questions very quickly. The disadvantage is that the Internet isn’t moderated in the way that people think and a lot of it is filled with misinformation and outright lies.

Even brand-named websites that have a lot of trust are not accountable for what appears on their own websites. Even respected and branded news sites have stories that have passed through many people’s hands and originally started as lies with zero accountability throughout the dissemination process. For example, that is why so many celebrities have been reported as dead on news sites when they were actually alive. Conclusion

My analysis proves that technology is a good thing, and that is has its advantages, but that with each technological element we gain disadvantages as well as advantages, and many times those disadvantages are overlooked by technology users.

The questions around general interest topics are mostly repeated by changing the question pattern and wording. Essays on modern technology have been frequently included as a part of task 2 over the years.

Success in IELTS task 2 is purely based on technique and practice. These tips and samples of   IELTS essays on modern technology   will help aspirants prepare for the writing task.

Modern technologies have boosted the agricultural sector. give your opinion., tips to write a winning essay, popular study abroad destinations, essay on modern technology: sample 1, modern technology is a gift of god. discuss the advantages and disadvantages. .

It was not very long ago when we had to actually pull out a large folded map to get directions while traveling. Nowadays, we click on Google Maps or ask Siri and we can access the entire map on our devices. The modern generation is quite technical and we can access any information with ease. Now, we like everything to be 'quick'. The days of searching for a book in the library are gone. The world is at our fingertips with the help of smartphones, the internet, technology, and various smart devices. Throughout the day, we use technologies to accomplish our daily tasks and assist in our routine activities.

However, it is disheartening that modern technology has changed the way societies were tied to each other. Bonds were emotional and genuine, cultural aspects were there, and humans were more physically active. These shiny pieces of tech do have some drawbacks. Let us take a look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of modern technology.

Modern technologies have helped us stay connected with people from all across the world. We have taken to technology like fish to water and it has become very difficult to survive without it.

How many lives have been saved so far with the help of modern medical technologies? Well, the numbers are uncountable. Modern equipment, technology, and better healthcare facilities have helped humans defeat chronic and acute health crises.

Secondly, satellite communications continuously broadcast data around the globe to our computers and handheld devices. We get to watch our favorite shows, movies, news; know the weather conditions, forthcoming disasters, and even trade-in stock markets.

Thirdly, the education system has improved. It is due to modern technology that the students were able to study from home during the pandemic. Modern technologies have helped mankind with a better standard of living. Innovative technologies for household chores and modern facilities have made a significant contribution towards better living conditions. At times, it seems like a gift of god for the betterment of mankind. But it has its drawbacks too.

Ours is a technology-dominated society. Even the simplest of things are done with the help of a machine or devices. Eventually, everything seems artificial. Below are some of the threats that individuals need to be careful of.

Simply put, even the things that need little effort are now being done with the help of technology. We prefer to read on a light-emitting device and instead of books. We prefer to drive instead of walking a mile. Our social skills are also getting compromised as we believe in communication through online modes. Gone are the days when we used to understand non-verbal cues more than the texts.

What impact does it have on our minds? Will technologies like AI and ML replace manpower in the coming years? Maybe! Without realizing the extent of dependency and the cons associated with it, we are blindly adopting modern tech to make life easier. It makes everything virtual and impairs the power of real human interaction. We tend to find more value in communication through a device rather than face-to-face interaction.

By making things easier, modern technologies have also invited a lot of crimes. Modern technologies open more opportunities for crime. Smart devices and technological advancements are being used in negative ways too. Many illegal activities are carried out online through social media platforms, targeting the young generation.

Technological dependency has made the lifestyle sluggish and costly too. Our standard of living is getting higher and higher with more expensive technologies coming into our day-to-day lives. Hence, we end up taking the massive burden to get more materialistic happiness.

Technology is changing the way we used to live. The famous saying 'technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master' needs to be implemented in our lives. Nowadays, it is apparent that we are not controlling our smart devices, but our devices are controlling us. Modern technologies have both advantages and disadvantages to offer to mankind, it depends upon how sensibly we embrace them.

IELTS Essay on Modern Technology: Sample 2

Agriculture & Food Production is one domain which has been in dire need of innovation and technological advancement. Climatic change, low awareness among farmers, natural hazards, resource depletion, floods, and opaque supply chains have led to low productivity and profitability in farming. Modern technologies have developed a digital agricultural presence, where the high yield makes the country self-sustaining. Modern technologies like artificial intelligence, GIS Software, big data, applications, sensors, and cloud computing have boosted agricultural productivity. In my opinion, the incorporation of modern technologies has been a blessing to the agricultural sector.

Modern technologies in precision agriculture have been developing new ways of managing farms, treatment of crops, and food systems. Digital presence has made agriculture profitable, safe, and effective. Modern farms get significant benefits from digital agriculture. Let us check some of the ways modern technologies have helped agriculture.

Firstly, GIS Software or Geographic Information System is a digital technology that helps the farmers stay alert about the changes that are taking place in the farms like plant health, crop yield, changes in moisture, and temperature. The GPS integrated software applications enable pesticide optimization and fertilizer control so that the farmers can treat a specific affected area and not the entire farm. This helps in the conservation of time, manpower, and capital.

Secondly, drones offer data from the sky. It takes images of the large farmlands with high precision. Several conditions like crop height, mass cultivation, soil erosion, waterlogging, and level of precipitation can be traced. These drones help the farmers monitor each part of the land effectively. Within a short time frame, drones can offer every information and data about a large farm. Various hazards are prevented and decision-making has become easier with the application of drones in farming.

Thirdly, mobile applications have kept the entire agricultural supply chain transparent and in proper coordination. Through these mobile applications, retailers, farmers, sellers, and suppliers can communicate with one another and receive all the latest updates and insights. Mobile applications help in decision-making and awareness increase, which results in productivity, transparency, and profitability.

Fourthly, agriculture has incorporated Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning to produce healthy crops, organize data for farmers, control pests, workload management, and decision-making throughout the agricultural supply chain. Data is important. AI and ML process the unstructured data into a useful insight that can be used to make better decisions regarding the productivity of agriculture. Artificial Intelligence makes the farmers aware of the weather forecasting so that they sow and reap the crops accordingly to reap maximum yield.

Simply put, modern technologies are not only automating the entire agricultural sector but also enabling precise cultivation with high productivity and sustainability. The concerns of labor, resource depletion, soil health, data, and opaque supply chain in agriculture are slowly being eradicated with modern technology.

The advent of modern technology.

Modern technology, an offshoot of the ceaseless human quest for innovation, has become an integral part of our lives. It has not only revolutionized communication and information dissemination but also transformed the way we live, work, and play.

Impact on Communication and Information

The advent of the Internet and smartphones has democratized information, making it accessible to everyone, everywhere. Social media platforms have given a voice to the voiceless, enabling a global dialogue that transcends geographical boundaries. Additionally, the emergence of artificial intelligence and machine learning has opened up new frontiers in data analysis and decision-making processes.

Transforming Daily Life

Modern technology has also significantly altered our daily routines. Smart homes, equipped with automated devices, have enhanced comfort and convenience. Wearable technology monitors our health, encouraging proactive wellness. Furthermore, e-commerce platforms and digital payment systems have streamlined shopping and financial transactions.

Work and Play in the Digital Age

In the workspace, technology has automated repetitive tasks, freeing up time for creative and strategic thinking. Remote working, made possible by digital tools, has blurred the lines between office and home. Meanwhile, in the realm of entertainment, virtual and augmented reality technologies have redefined our concept of play, immersing us in interactive digital worlds.

The Double-edged Sword

However, this technological revolution is a double-edged sword. While it brings countless benefits, it also presents challenges such as privacy concerns, cybercrime, and digital addiction. It is, therefore, crucial to navigate this digital landscape with caution, leveraging its advantages while mitigating its potential risks.

In conclusion, modern technology, with its profound impact on communication, daily life, work, and play, is an undeniable force shaping the 21st-century human experience.

500 Words Essay on Modern Technology

In the contemporary era, modern technology has emerged as a significant facet of human life. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, learn, work, and entertain ourselves. The rapid evolution of technology, from the advent of the internet to the development of artificial intelligence, has had profound implications on society, economy, and culture.

The Impact of Modern Technology on Communication

Modern technology has drastically transformed the realm of communication. The rise of social media platforms and instant messaging apps has made it possible to connect with people across the globe in real time. Emails and video conferences have replaced traditional letters and face-to-face meetings, making communication faster and more efficient. However, this digital revolution has also raised concerns about privacy and the authenticity of information disseminated online.

Modern Technology in Education

The education sector has also benefited immensely from modern technology. E-learning platforms and virtual classrooms have made education accessible to a wider audience, breaking geographical barriers. Advanced technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality are being used to create immersive learning experiences. Nonetheless, the digital divide and the lack of digital literacy pose challenges in harnessing the full potential of technology in education.

Modern Technology in the Workplace

Modern technology has reshaped the workplace as well. Automation and artificial intelligence have streamlined operations, increased productivity, and reduced human error. Remote working has become a reality, thanks to cloud computing and collaborative tools. However, the fear of job displacement due to automation and the need for constant upskilling to keep up with technological advancements are issues that need to be addressed.

Modern Technology and Entertainment

In the realm of entertainment, modern technology has given rise to new forms of media and has changed the way we consume content. Streaming platforms have challenged traditional television, and online gaming has become a global phenomenon. While these advancements have democratized entertainment, they have also raised questions about digital addiction and mental health.

Conclusion: The Future of Modern Technology

In conclusion, modern technology, despite its potential drawbacks, is an integral part of our lives. It has the power to drive societal change, foster economic growth, and enhance the quality of life. As we navigate the digital age, it is crucial to strike a balance between leveraging technology and mitigating its adverse impacts. The future of modern technology lies in ethical, responsible, and inclusive innovation.

Structure Breakdown

Band 7 sample answer for ielts writing task 2: new technologies have changed the way children spend their free time.

Currently, it is true that the way children spend their leisure time has been changed by new technology. While this has several benefits, In my opinion, the the drawbacks far outweigh them.

To begin with, computer games tend to be enjoyable for many kids and can potentially enhance their cognitive abilities. Strategic video games, for instance, compel players to hone their problem-solving aptitude and adapt to unforeseen circumstances. As a result, children who regularly play such games are likely to sharpen their logical reasoning and problem-solving prowess. Furthermore, the vast trove of easily accessible information online can benefit young people through early internet exposure. When children are able to surf the web from a young age, they can embark on the learning process sooner and accelerate their knowledge acquisition as they mature.

However, I would argue that the advantages discussed above are outweighed by the disadvantages. One main drawback is that children who enjoy spending time in front of the computer screen are often reluctant to do exercise. Low physical activity levels are likely to result in children becoming overweight, and in turn, they would end up being obese. In addition, some games tempt people to continue playing for hours, which could lead to gaming addiction. In role-playing games, for instance, people might need to stay in front of the computer for several hours in order to progress to higher levels, and therefore children may spend an excessive amount of time on games.

In conclusion, while there are some advantages to children spending time on advanced technologies, it seems to me that the disadvantages are more significant. Technology has been triumphant over sundry verticals nowadays which has modified the leisure time spent by the children around. (285 words)

Band 8 Sample Answer for IELTS Writing Task 2: New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time

In today’s digital era, children’s leisure activities have undergone a profound transformation due to the pervasive influence of innovative technologies. While concerns about potential drawbacks are valid, I contend that the benefits derived from these technological advancements far outweigh any associated disadvantages for today’s youth.

The ubiquity of screens and digital interfaces has redefined how the younger generation engages with their free time, marking a paradigm shift in childhood experiences. Despite concerns about adverse effects, particularly excessive screen time, a judicious approach to technological integration, coupled with parental guidance, can effectively navigate these challenges. Concerns include potential hazards to physical and mental well-being, with research linking extended screen usage to decreased physical activity and an increased risk of obesity among children. Overexposure to digital interfaces is associated with potential setbacks in cognitive development, academic performance, and social skills. However, responsible technological use can mitigate these risks.

On the positive side, technology significantly benefits child development and learning. Educational applications and interactive games offer captivating alternatives to traditional learning methods, making subjects like math, science, and language more engaging. Video games, when approached responsibly, facilitate the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and hand-eye coordination. Social media platforms and messaging applications serve as invaluable tools for maintaining connections in an interconnected world.

In conclusion, while adopting technology in children’s leisure activities raises concerns, the transformative potential for development and education cannot be overlooked. By carefully navigating risks through parental guidance and responsible usage, we can harness the myriad benefits that technology brings to the lives of today’s tech-savvy youth. (258 words).

Technology has been triumphant over sundry verticals nowadays which has modified the leisure time spent by the children around. Although that comes along with the pace digitization has been moving ahead with and could prove advantageous in the same regard, however, it has its major share of drawbacks that supersedes its advantages in the long marathon. In the forthcoming paragraphs, this essay will analyze both sides.

There are a few pros to children putting their hours of free time in learning the advancement of the technologies and the modus operandi of the same as that keeps them moving and aligning with the dynamic world, especially, during current times. It enhances their digital knowledge that somehow has become the need of the hour in every walks of life. Using technology not only improves children’s technical skills, but also keeps them engaged and focused, enhancing their expertise in this area. For example, learning coding, programming, and web development expands their knowledge and prepares them for future job opportunities.

However, there are also significant downsides to children’s technology use. Exposure at a young age can be harmful to children’s development and thinking. Teens are more vulnerable to cybercrimes and phishing. Inappropriate content and sites can also do more harm than good. Heavy technology use has health risks. Violent graphics in games are another major concern. Certain dangerous games like “Bluewhale” have been banned after being linked to youth suicide. Overall, while technology has benefits, uncontrolled use at a young age poses risks of crime, inappropriate content, and physical and mental health issues.

All in all, it could be concluded that although technical expansion is a requirement right now, the pitfalls of children spending their free time on the same often overtakes its advantages and is riskier in the long run. (297 words)

disadvantages of modern technology essay

Posted on Nov 8, 2021

Throughout the last decade, the digital age has arise with every child spending most of their time watching videos or playing games. I believe, advanced technologies has a detrimental impact on children’s quality of time spent. First of all, no one can deny the beneficial effects of technology and its progression over time and how it facilitated many processes. For instance, it enabled the children to receive additional online courses in times as the pandemic. Secondly, novel technology now provides evolution of some games that work on the IQ and mind-developing skills for children. On the contrary, nowadays families hardly have the opportunity to spend time with their offspring because of the endless series of games which highlights a lack of family time ritual. Adding to this, studies has shown that in the last decade autism and other psychological issues cases have sharply increased with regard to the excessive use of technology rather than spending time with real people. Also, spending more time indoors will be likely to increase obesity rate amongst children due to the sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity. In conclusion, modern technologies has benefits to some extent but many disadvantages. Children do not become enthusiastic with to spend time with their parents at the playground as they would be to receive a new iPad, for instance.

The whole world has been changing through the years as a consequence of multiples factors. Clearly, one of them is technology. Everyone is affected by this, especially children, who have found a new way to spent their free time. I agree with the fact that there are more disadvantages than advantages to this statement.

Studies have revealed that the young population is more vulnerable nowadays. They prefer to be at home playing online games or using social media on their phone instead of going out and meet their friends. So, the physical and mental conditions are affected. As a kid, it is essential to make a face to face friendships to develop social skills. In time, it helps them to build strong bases in their identity. Also, mental health can be more balanced and stable. Additionally, practising outdoor sports such a football or basketball improve physical condition, growing healthy youth. Severe sickness can be prevented, such as diabetes or obesity, by instilling training habits at early ages.

On the other hand, there are also several advantages. When parents know what kind of technology or content by the meticulous selection, technology can improve cognitive development. There are plenty of video games that require particular strategies to reach goals. The brain is stimulated through diversion, and the kids do not realize it. They can learn other languages, interact with other children on the other side of the world, mathematics or abstract reasoning. As a consequence, other diverse skills are introduced to their lives. In conclusion, excessing the use of technology brings more disadvantages than advantages. Kids with excellent physical and mental health are more important than sick and antisocial but strategic creatures.

Overall band: 5.0

Grammar: Concentrate on tenses. You have used “spent” in place of “spend”. Collocations: “growing healthy youth” is wrong usage. Lexical Resource: The word “technology” has been used many times.

The development of new technologies has drastically changed the way children spend their free time. This fact has both advantages and disadvantages and in this essay, I will discuss both. In my opinion, I firmly believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and that is because the emergence of these new technologies have had bad effects on children’s health and turned them into lazy sloth bears. To begin with, the arrival of this modern machinery has been beneficial for the little ones. Machines like computers, laptops, tablets, i-phones provide an open window for these little ones to grasp more knowledge and broaden their horizons. In their free time they can read articles, books apart from their academic guides on computers, laptops and learn about geography, astronomy and other things. With the advancement of science, they can socialise with kids from other countries and learn their cultures and languages. On the contrary, the development of this modern automation had an immense amount of bad effects on kids’ lives. For instance, in their spare hours, they stay indoors playing video games instead of going out and participating in outdoor activities. As a result, young ones are falling prey to obesity and laziness at a very young age. According to some recent reports and studies in the US heart problems, obesity and other ailments have become common in teenagers now. To put it more simply, in the past teenagers used to be more active and their life expectancy rates used to be higher as they used to spend their spare hours playing outdoor games like football, cricket and many different sports. To conclude, like the two sides of a coin there are both benefits and downfalls to the emergence of modern automation. As mentioned earlier in the essay, I hold the view that the disadvantages of this contemporary machinery outweigh the advantages as they have awful effects on children’s well-being.

Yes, I agree to the fact that the spare time of children are easily influenced by the modern technological advancements. However, these evolving technologies help them stay updated to the digital world, still it is a wolf under the skin of a sheep as its negative impacts outweigh the benefits. On one hand, the digitalization of the world has demanded the parents and the society to make their kids indulge with techs which would help them survive in the modern world. The gaming sector has also started evolving targeting the younger generation with survival and strategy games that help in unlocking the logical and aptitude thinking in children. There are games and applications that are developed even for the newborns that would enhance their cerebral activity with multiple colors and patterns. On the other hand, I would have to lend my voice to the fact that the digital era has totally disrupted the physical growth and activities of the children. Before the technical advancements, children would step out and play their favorite sport along with their real friends whatsoever the weather be. But the kids of these generation are deprived of the fun from outdoor and indoor games as they spend their leisure time in playing virtual games with virtual people who may be real or could be a bot. These have lead to medical and mental health problems like childhood obesity, retinal damage, syndromes. In conclusion, even though the modern technology has improved the way and the pace in which a child learns and spend its free time, it also has its own adverse effects on the factors that are beyond our imagination.

disadvantages of modern technology essay

Old People Modern Technology

Some old people today struggle with the use of modern technologies such as smartphones and computers. What is the cause of this? What are some possible solutions? Often, we find elderly people get frustrated with their lack of technological fluency - this stems from a multitude of reasons. This essay will focus on two main causes of this problem including the rapid development of technology and the limited access to modern technologies that elderly people might face. In addition, this essay will also provide a few examples of simple solutions that may solve these problems if implemented: these include programmes that can be hosted by school students or government subsidies. With rapid technological developments that are ever-present in virtually every society, people are in a constant attempt to keep updated with the current trends and technologies. Unfortunately, a generation has been left out of the digital revolution. This can be attributed to the difficulties they face when accessing modern technology. This does not, however, solely stem from their inability to discern between different features on modern technologies; rather, a lack of accessible information for the elderly regarding technology is the main cause of this issue. Since their access to tools that can guide them through technological processes is inhibited (they may require prior knowledge such as using softwares, for example, Google), elderly people may get discouraged and choose to renounce technology. However, this can be solved with a few simple solutions that directly target these problematic causes. Introducing a variety of programmes and volunteering schemes may tackle these issues. Through free online or in-person programmes, elderly people can be guided through the complexities of technology and can access assistance along their journey to better understand technology. For instance, high-school students can reach out to old-age homes to provide free seminars that focus on a single topic - for example, how to use Facebook to connect with friends and families across the globe. These not only help with assisting elderly people with technology, but they also bolster relationships between two generations. Alternatively, government subsidies can be implemented to help provide modern technology to those that are low on savings and lack financial stability. This will encourage more old people to pick up their smartphones and experiment! Through proper guidance and assistance, anyone can develop crucial skills in foreign areas, even if it is as intimidating as modern technology. To conclude, constant advancements in technology can leave old people behind on all the exciting new features and benefits it has to offer. This essay briefly elaborated on how limited accessibility to technology and a lack of guidance and information on the basics are responsible for this issue. Furthermore, this essay suggested possible solutions that can be implemented by various groups of society - students, governments, or educational institutes - that will minimise the impact of this issue.

Work and Study from Home Essay

Around the world, many adults are working from home, and more children are beginning to study from home because technology has become cheaper and more accessible. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? The world is getting change. It is irrefutable that technology makes a huge contribution to happen this. Working remotely or the environment of education are only a few examples of these changes. However, we try to get used to these changes these days. In my opinion, there are several drawbacks and benefits, also. First of all, in terms of education has some drawbacks. The last generation is observed as computer-tending individuals. They like a waste of their time surfing on social media, chatting, or playing a game, so computer-based education ease up distracts them. Education means not only learning some subjects but also improving your social life skills such as communication skills, team works, or do's&don't's rule. Physically education is more effective to obtain these skills. In addition to this, there is nothing to replace with a teacher for a successful education life. Teacher and class-based education should be the main task and it can be combined with online sessions additional courses or exercises. However, working from home have some benefits for employee and employer. It saves money and time, so it can be suggested for possible work-field. For example, some people commute from far away places, which means that employees have to spend extra time to arrive at their job and extra money for travel. Besides this, people consume water, electricity by working offices, this makes benefits for the employer. Furthermore, employers can hire more qualified employees around the world thanks to working at home. ın terms of the worker, they catch a chance to living wherever they want, maybe it decreases in some places' density because of the job opportunity. In conclusion, worldwide computer spreading has some advantages and disadvantages. From the point of view of adults, it is beneficial for saving money and time. While, for the youth, it would be better traditional education mixed with new technologic facilities.
