7. What types of logo files are used in branding?

There are two types of medical research logo files you can use to download from a logo maker for branding–a raster and a vector file. You have to see which logo file is suitable for your business requirement and decide on the file type needed.

Vector file formats are best for branding purposes because of their scalability and responsiveness. Vector files are composed of lines and curves which are designed based on geometric principles.

That’s why these graphic logos maintain their composition and don’t get grainy or pixelated when blown up to large size branding materials, making vector logos the perfect choice for branding on banner ads or T-shirts.

So, when designing a medical research logo in DesignMantic’s logo maker tool, download your logo in a vector format like PDF for high-scale printing. Add your medical research logo on website , social media , email signature design , or use it to create a t-shirt design , without worrying about losing the design or the texture of your medical research logo

8. Does your logo maker tool have black-and-white medical research logo designs?

Yes, in DesignMantic’s logo maker tool, there are tons of black-and-white medical research logo templates available that you can choose from.

Or you can also select a colorful medical research logo template that fits your brand and change the colors of the logo template to black in the logo studio editor. Simply, select the design element to change its color. On the left side menu go to the “Tools” section and select a black for a white background color or vice versa.

Once you are done with customizing medical research logo colors, click on the “preview” button to see how your black and white logo looks on t-shirt designs and brand identity designs .

Finally, if you are happy with the medical research logo design, click on the “Continue” button to download your logo in a vector format like PDF,JPEG, or PNG. And your black and white medical research logo is ready to rock!

9. Where can I locate the logo I paid for?

Once you purchase a medical research logo from DesignMantic, it will be added to the “Purchased Designs”. Under the logo design on the right pane you can select any file type to download: PDF, JPEG, or PNG. Click on “Download” and your medical research logo will be downloaded on your laptop or PC.

Your medical research logo design can also be downloaded in a zip file with all the formats together, so you can easily access it and share it with your friends and colleagues.

For a small extra charge, you can get a vector file of your logo such as an AI file for high-scale printing on billboards or printing merch.

So whichever format you choose to go with, you use it on your branding mediums such as website , social media header design , email signature design , or use it to create a custom business card design .

History of the nih logo.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) dates back to 1887 and began as the laboratory arm of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS). In its early years, the agency used the PHS seal or logos of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (now the Department of Health and Human Services).

NIH report cover, 1959

In 1965, a committee appointed by President Johnson was charged with conducting a study of NIH operations. Committee recommendations, set out in a report named for committee chair Dr. Dean E. Wooldridge, called on the NIH to improve communications with the public. As part of the agency’s response, in-house staff took on the development of the first NIH logo. The resulting design was a triangle with rounded sides and the initials "NIH" in the center. Some saw the logo as representing research, treatment and education; others thought it meant searching, serving, and teaching.

NIH Record Logo

In 1976, NIH began work on an updated logo, one that would reflect the agency’s relationship with grantees and other health institutions. Designers opened the ends of the triangle to resemble glassware used in NIH laboratories and to demonstrate the agency’s openness to the outside. The new mark could be used with or without the spelled out agency name, and it could easily be rendered in color. In November 1969, the new logo premiered as part of the NIH Record masthead. While highly recognizable, the logo, over time, came to be called “the coat hanger logo” and the “beaker logo,” and it served the NIH for three decades. It even made a TV appearance in 2005, when it was included in a hospital scene on NBC’s short-lived, prime time series Medical Investigation , although it appeared upside down.

Centennial logo contest

NIH also had a logo created especially for the agency’s 1987 centennial. To create the logo, the agency sponsored a design contest in 1984. Several hundred individuals submitted 1,354 entries, according to the NIH Record , which tracked the contest. A Clinical Center nurse won the $500 prize for her design featuring the number 100 with a microscope set within interlocked zeros and the words "A Century of Science for Health National Institutes of Health, 1887-1987" surrounding it.

NIH Logo

In May 2012, the NIH began a trans-NIH effort to strengthen the NIH’s identity behind a unified, letters-only logo to replace dozens of institute, center, and office logos that proliferated over the years. The resulting new logo made its debut at the agency’s high-profile “Celebration of Science” event, held in September 2012. The design focused on a single arrow indicating forward movement and advancement. The arrow pointed to National Institutes of Health or individual IC names, each with its own characteristic color or a central blue and gray scheme. In 2015, the logo became a hit with visiting kids participating in the NIH’s popular Take Your Child to Work Day activities when it was printed in 3D.

The current logo and tagline.

In August 2013, NIH trademarked the phrase “NIH . . . Turning Discovery Into Health,” registered as 4,388,184 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The slogan, trademarked to promote “federally funded biomedical and scientific research on human health and human diseases,” is widely used today and also appears as a companion design to the main NIH logo.

The current logo and tagline continue to provide the NIH with a unique, instantly recognizable, and fortified identify that conveys the mission and impact of the NIH.

How to make money from medical research and donations

  • You can make thousands of dollars by donating some time or body parts to science.
  • But these procedures are not all painless, and not everyone can participate.
  • Below is a short list, though be warned: these strategies aren't all easy money.

Insider Today

Get dysentery. Play cards with someone who has the flu . Or, spend 45 days trapped in a tiny apartment with three total strangers.

These are just a few of the many ways you can get paid for helping out with scientific research. If you want to aid the science community and potentially save some lives while making a little extra cash, there are some unconventional options to consider.

Below is a short list, though be warned: these strategies aren't all exactly easy money.

Sell your blood plasma

Payout (per donation): around $50

Plasma is the largest component in human blood. It's a protein-rich liquid that contains mostly water but is also filled with enzymes, antibodies, and salts. This gooey, sticky yellow-ish stuff can be used to create therapies that treat people with blood clotting disorders, autoimmune diseases, and even burn victims. Donating plasma is often called "the gift of life" since treatments for some conditions can't be made synthetically and require this kind of human contribution.

During plasma donation, blood is drawn and an automated machine separates the plasma from other blood components, which are returned to the donor. Plasma donation pay varies from site to site, but the average payout is typically around $50 per donation. You can donate safely roughly once a month, according to the American Red Cross , and a typical session takes less than two hours. Find a licensed and certified plasma center near you.

Donate your sex cells

Payout for eggs (per donation): usually $10,000 to $12,000;

Payout for sperm (per donation): typically $35-$150

Egg and sperm donation can allow couples who have trouble conceiving naturally to become parents by using a donor's sex cells. But the time commitment and risk involved in a woman's egg donation is far steeper than what a man goes through donating his sperm.

In the United States, egg donors generally net around $10,000-$12,000. Weill Cornell outlines the standard steps for egg donation , which requires about a four-week time commitment.

During the egg donation cycle, patients are injected with fertility drugs so that the ovaries make more mature eggs than normal. (Eligible women are generally between the ages of 21 and 30). The egg retrieval procedure takes about 20 minutes but may require several days of recovery. Donors should be aware of the risks involved (largely related to the hormones used) before signing up.

Related stories

Men are generally paid anywhere from $35 to $150 per sperm donation, according to The Sperm Bank of California , but sperm donation can really start to add up if you regularly donate samples (many programs require a six-month or one-year donation commitment).

Donors should bear in mind that even if they choose to donate anonymously, sperm and egg donation is never really 100% incognito. Your DNA always knows who you are.

Spend 45 days on a fake spaceship

Payout: $160/day

NASA will pay you to spend 45 days traveling in space. Well, sort of.

You'll actually be on the ground the whole time in Houston, Texas, but you'll be locked inside a model space capsule (650 square feet) along with three strangers. This simulation is designed to study what being cooped up for a very long time inside a spaceship might do to a person, both physically and mentally. NASA wants to check this out thoroughly before they start sending astronauts on missions to Mars, or to explore faraway asteroids.

Participants in NASA's human research program share a capsule with each other that includes some workspace for doing lab experiments, a little kitchen table for eating meals that are just like what's served aboard the International Space Station, plus an exercise bike and some free weights. There's no internet, but you do get your own little cozy sleeping pod on the top floor.

The fake astronauts "on board" the capsule in May and June of 2024 include an aerospace engineering professor, a US Air Force Reserve member, a commercial pilot, and a biomedical engineer.

And that mission is nothing compared to NASA's CHAPEA Mars simulation , which keeps recruits in a simulated habitat of the red planet for 378 days. (NASA declined to comment on how much CHAPEA pays).

Take part in a clinical trial

Payout: Varies by program

The National Institutes of Health run a searchable database, ClincalTrials.gov , that rounds up human clinical studies ongoing around the world. Participants may be guinea pigs for new medical products, like drugs to treat high blood pressure, or they take part in observational research, like a study that records the effects of different lifestyles on heart health.

Subjects are generally paid to participate in such clinical trials, and most of the time, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. For example, a participant in one study in which participants were exposed to dysentery-causing bacteria was paid over $7,000, while a single blood draw or lab visit for a more straightforward study may only be worth $100 or so.

If you do decide to enroll in a study, choose wisely and carefully because not all of the studies on the site are regulated or evaluated for safety by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Enroll in a psychological study

Paid psychological studies, such as those that examine human behavior and brain function, may not generate as high of a return as clinical trials, but they are generally lower risk and require a shorter time commitment.

Most research universities keep an online database of studies so people can easily sign up. For example, here's a list of the most recent paid research studies offered by New York University . At NYU, you can make $12 an hour playing video games, and receive a $50 bonus if you're good at it.

Give your dead body to science

Payout: free cremation

This last idea is sort of morbid, but if you're worried about being a bother when you're dead, you can donate your body to science . This helps with various types of research and education.

Places like BioGift and Science Care will cover the costs of cremation, which can run upwards of $2,000.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy's chief of staff has said that using Western weapons to strike inside Russia was a vital decision that would impact Moscow's tactical aviation and its offensive ability in border regions.

"This will impact the conduct of the war, planning of counteroffensive actions, and will weaken Russians' abilities to use their forces in the border areas," Andriy Yermak said on Telegram.

Russia has said the move would mark an escalation to the conflict and has threatened war with NATO if Western weapons are used in its airspace.

Dozens of Alexei Navalny supporters have visited his grave to lay flowers and pay tribute to the late Kremlin critic on what would have been his 48th birthday.

The opposition leader died at an Arctic prison colony in February, prompting outrage from Western governments.

Nearly four months on, his family say the cause of his death remains unexplained.

His widow Yulia Navalnaya has accused Vladimir Putin of ordering his murder, and last week his allies called for additional sanctions to punish the Russian president's inner circle.

The Kremlin has repeatedly denied any involvement in his death. According to his death certificate, he died of natural causes.

Navalny's mother, Lyudmila, as well as his mother-in-law Alla Abrosimova, were among those who gathered at his grave in the Borisovskoye cemetery in southeast Moscow today.

Video posted by SOTAvision on the social media platform Telegram shows a memorial service led by Dmitry Safronov, a priest who was previously banned from clerical duties by the Russian Orthodox Church for presiding over a similar service in March, which marked 40 days since the activist's death.

According to the independent Novaya Gazeta newspaper, three police officers were on duty near the cemetery but they did not make any arrests.

Having been convicted of multiple charges, ranging from fraud to extremism, Navalny was serving sentences totalling more than 30 years when he died.

His Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) is outlawed in Russia, and has been accused by the authorities of having links to the CIA.

What remains of his team now operates in exile.

Polish farmers have resumed their protest blockade at the Ukrainian border crossing due to agricultural imports from the country.

Farmers in Poland have staged sporadic demonstrations at the border since last autumn.

The demonstrators are blocking trucks from leaving Ukraine.

Cargo vehicles heading to Ukraine are allowed to enter by 12 trucks per 12 hours and by four trucks with humanitarian aid per hour, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service said.

Other vehicles are continuing as usual.

"Representatives of Polish farmers demand reduced imports of Ukrainian crops to Polish territory from Ukraine," the Border Guard Service said.

Disputes over crop imports have strained the relationship between Warsaw and Kyiv, with both countries being major agricultural producers.

Polish farmers have complained that Ukrainian products create uneven competition, particularly since the EU lifted tariffs in 2022.

Poland banned the import of several products from Ukraine, including grain, corn, and rapeseed, in 2023.

In our last post, we brought you news that Microsoft had made allegations in the New York Times that Russia was targeting the upcoming Olympics with a disinformation campaign.

Moscow has now branded those accusations "absolute slander", with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying there is no substance to them.

Russia is widely accused of having waged disinformation campaigns over the years, often targeting elections in the United States, Europe and Britain.

Moscow has always denied it uses disinformation to influence public opinion.

The Paris Olympics are being targeted by a Russian-linked disinformation campaign, according to the New York Times.

Since last summer, efforts have been under way by a hacker group named Storm-1679, the paper reports.

The campaign "began in earnest" when a documentary was released with a doctored International Olympic Committee (IOC) logo, along with an AI-powered impersonation of Tom Cruise's voice.

The hackers "are trying to cultivate an anticipation of violence", said Clint Watts, the head of Microsoft's Digital Threat Analysis Centre.

"They want people to be fearful of going to the Olympics."

Storm-1679 makes around three to eight disinformation videos a week, Mr Watts told the newspaper, many of which appear as if they come from media outlets such as the BBC or Al Jazeera.

Both Russia and Belarus have been banned from competing in the Olympics over the war in Ukraine, but some athletes from those countries will be allowed to compete as "neutral athletes", the IOC announced in March.

The Paris games will take place between 26 July and 11 August.

The Kremlin has said the peace talks set to take place in Switzerland this month are "absurd" as Russia isn't invited.

Moscow claimed it was understandable that some countries were declining to take part in the summit on Ukraine this month because the gathering lacked clear goals.

Ukraine says more than 100 countries and organisations have agreed to take part in the summit on 15-16 June.

The summit, which will take place at an Alpine resort near Lucerne, is intended to create a framework for lasting peace and a roadmap for Russia's eventual participation in the process.

Kyiv decided against inviting Russia because it does not trust Moscow.

China, which has grown closer to Russia after Western sanctions brought in since the invasion of Ukraine, has also said it won't be attending.

Poland has claimed Belarus and its ally Russia are behind a recent surge in migrants from the former Soviet state into the European Union.

The number of attempted illegal border crossings from Belarus into Poland has shot up in recent months from only a handful to almost 400 a day, Polish officials say.

Poland's border guards have also described increasingly aggressive behaviour by some migrants on the Belarusian side of the border, posting online videos of some throwing rocks, logs and even burning wood at Polish troops.

There have been cases of soldiers and guards ending up in hospital, and some have needed stitches after being stabbed or cut by knife-wielding assailants.

Last Tuesday, near the village of Dubicze Cerkiewne, officials said a migrant reached between the bars of the 16-foot-high barrier and stabbed a soldier in the ribs.

The government in Warsaw sees the new push at the border as an orchestrated attempt by Russia and Belarus to fuel anti-migrant sentiment, which could in turn boost far-right parties in the EU parliamentary vote.

"We are not dealing with [just] any asylum seekers here, we are dealing with a coordinated, very efficient - on many levels - operation to break the Polish border and attempts to destabilise the country,"  Donald Tusk, the Polish prime minister, said last week while visiting troops at the border.

Ukraine's use of Western-supplied weapons to strike targets in Russia will not "contribute to escalation", German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said.

Germany has long opposed lifting the ban on Ukraine's use of Western weapons to target Russia, but changed course last month.

A German government spokesperson told Deutsche Welle on 31 May that Ukraine could use German-supplied weapons to hit legitimate targets in Russia.

Berlin's defence minister Boris Pistorius later clarified that the decision applied to the area around Kharkiv, which has recently become the target of a heavy Russian offensive.

"We are certain that it will not contribute to an escalation because, as Joe Biden has also described, it is only a matter of being able to defend a large city like Kharkiv," Mr Scholz said.

In the past, Chancellor Scholz has cited a fear of escalation as among the principal reasons for limiting Germany's support for Ukraine.

"I think it is clear to everyone that this must be possible. Under international law, this has always been possible anyway," he added.

General Eirik Kristoffersen's comments are the latest in a series of warnings from Western leaders and defence officials about the threat from Moscow and the alliance's current lack of preparedness.

"At one point someone said it'll take 10 years, but I think we're back to less than 10 years because of the industrial base that is now running in Russia," General Kristoffersen said.

"It will take some time, which gives us a window now for the next two to three years to rebuild our forces, to rebuild our stocks at the same time as we are supporting Ukraine."

Norway has been a member of NATO since its foundation in 1949.

The Scandinavian nation has increased its defence spending since the beginning of the war in Ukraine and aims to meet the 2% of GDP threshold in 2024, with a further increase of 2.7% of GDP targeted by 2030.

Last week, the US partially lifted restrictions on Ukraine's use of some Western-supplied weapons.

It now means Ukraine can strike inside Russia with US-supplied weapons - but only if the targets are aimed at slowing Moscow's advance in the Kharkiv region.

Ukrainian foreign minister said the move was "not 100% clearance" and came with "some rules that need to be followed".

Speaking at a news conference with his Estonian counterpart, he said Ukraine was hoping to gain more freedom on the use of Western weapons inside Russia.

Ukraine "will continue to work with our allies" on "expanding the scope" of weapon use.

Some of Kyiv's allies have been reluctant to allow Ukraine to strike over the border as they fear this could drag them into a more direct conflict with Russia.
