Senior filmmaker MS Raju is back with a new-age youthful drama, titled, 7 Days 6 Nights. Starring Sumanth Ashwin and Rohan in lead roles, the film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it goes.

Anand( Sumanth Ashwin) who is an aspiring film director decides to go for a trip to Goa along with his close buddy Kumar Mangalam ( Rohan). In the road trip, they meet two girls named Rithika (Meher Chahal) and Amiya( Krithika Shetty). While Anand falls for Rithika as the first sight itself, Mangalam gets close to Amiya. Despite being engaged, Rohan looking at Amiya won’t go well with Anand. What kind of troubles will the friends face in the Goa trip? Will the trip effect their personal lives? To know that, you have to catch the film in the theaters.

On-screen performances:

Sumanth Ashwin and Rohan did their respective roles decently. While Sumanth Ashwin ‘s performance as an aspiring director brings depth to the proceedings, Rohan is fine as a guy who is not too much serious about life decisions.

Young beauties Meher Chahal and Krithika Shetty are glamorous on screen and impresses with their eye candy treat in a beach song.

Others new faces who did extended cameo roles are okay in their respective roles.

Off-screen talents:

The cinematography work by decent as the beautiful locations in and around Goa are captured nicely. Music by Samarth Gollapudi is decent as his background score is apt for the film’s genre.

Editing by Junaid Siddiqui is just okay. The production values for this limited budget movie are okay.

MS Raju’s thought of making a rom-com entertainer with complications in the relationship as the main aspect is good but his narrative lacks solid exposure. If he would have worked on the script for more time, the result would have been even better.

Positive Points:

• Glamorous beauties Meher Chahal and Krithika Shetty
• Decent performance from Sumanth Ashwin and Rohan

Negative Points:

• Lack of gripping narration

In an overview, 7 Days 6 Nights is a romantic drama that lacks a solid presentation and gripping scene order. Though the lead artists gave a decent performance, the dull proceedings make this film a boring watch.

1998లో 6 డేస్ 7 నైట్స్ పేరుతో ఓ హాలీవుడ్ మూవీ వచ్చింది. ఆ మూవీతో ఎమ్మెస్ రాజు 7 డేస్ 6 నైట్స్ కి ఏమాత్రం సంబంధం లేదు. ఆ విషయం పక్కన పెడదాం. ఎమ్మెస్ రాజు అంటే పరిశ్రమలో హిట్ చిత్రాలు నిర్మాతగా గొప్ప పేరుంది. మనసంతా నువ్వే, ఒక్కడు, వర్షం, నువ్వొస్తానంటే నేనొద్దంటానా వంటి బ్లాక్ బస్టర్స్ అందించారు.

వాన సినిమాతో ఎమ్మెస్ రాజు (MS Raju)దర్శకుడిగా మారారు. తర్వాత కొడుకు సుమంత్ హీరోగా తూనీగా తూనీగా చిత్రం చేశారు. ఈ రెండు ఏమంత విజయం సాధించలేదు. దీంతో పంథా మార్చి డర్టీ హరి టైటిల్ తో అడల్ట్ కంటెంట్ మూవీ చేశారు. అది కూడా ఫలితం ఇవ్వలేదు. దర్శకుడిగా ఆయన ఐదో ప్రయత్నం 7 డేస్ 6 నైట్స్( 7Days 6 nights review) . జూన్ 24న విడుదలైన ఈ మూవీ ఎలా ఉందో చూద్దాం..

కథ  ఆనంద్ (సుమంత్ అశ్విన్)  కుమార మంగళం అలియాస్ మంగళం (రోహన్) ఇద్దరు ప్రాణ స్నేహితులు. ఆనంద్ కి పెద్ద డైరెక్టర్ కావాలనేది కోరిక. ఇక మంగళంకి నటనపై ఆసక్తి. ఒకరకంగా చెప్పాలంటే వీరిద్దరికీ సినిమానే ప్రపంచం.  మంగళంకి వారం రోజుల్లో పెళ్లి అనగా బ్యాచిలర్ పార్టీ కోసం ఇద్దరు గోవాకు వెళ్తారు. పెళ్ళికి సిద్దమైన మంగళం  గోవాలో అమియా (కృతికా శెట్టి) అనే మరో అమ్మాయి ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. ఆనంద్ మాత్రం కెరీర్ గురించి ఆలోచిస్తూ డిప్రెషన్ కి లోనవుతాడు. సూసైడ్ చేసుకోవాలి అనుకుంటాడు. ఆ క్రమంలో ఓ నిర్మాత ఆనంద్ కి దొరుకుతాడు. 

నిర్మాతకు కథ చెప్పిన ఆనంద్‌ డైరెక్టర్‌గా మారాడా? మంగళం, ఆనంద్ మధ్య స్నేహం ప్రాణం కంటే మిన్నగా ఎందుకు మారింది? ఎలాంటి పరిస్థితుల్లో పెళ్లికి ముందు రోహన్ మరో అమ్మాయి ఆకర్షణకు గురయ్యాడు? ఆనంద్‌కు విన్నీ ఎందుకు దూరమైంది. ప్రేమ విఫలమైన ఆనంద్ గోవాలో పరిచయమైన రితిక (మెహర్ చాహల్)‌తో పరిచయం ఎంత వరకు వెళ్లింది?  అనేది తెరపై చూడాలి..

ఫ్రస్ట్రేషన్,డిప్రెషన్ లో ఆనంద్, వివాహ సంబరంలో మంగళం... ఇద్దరు స్నేహితుల కథను దర్శకుడు అలా ఓపెన్ చేశాడు.వాళ్ళిద్దరి మధ్య డ్రామా, డైలాగ్స్ తో కొంత ఫన్ జెనరేట్ చేయాలని దర్శకుడు చూశాడు. అయితే సినిమా  సాగదీతకు గురైంది. అందులోనూ ఎమోషనల్‌గా ఆకట్టుకొనే సన్నివేశాలు లేకపోవడం వల్ల ఫస్టాఫ్ కథ సాదాసీదా.. చిన్న హ్యుమర్ సంఘటనలతో ముందుకెళ్తుంది. కానీ సెకండాఫ్‌కు వచ్చే సరికి ఆనంద్‌లో భావోద్వేగాలు, మానసిక సంఘర్షణ కథకు బలంగా మారాయనిపిస్తుంది. రోహన్ రొమాంటిక్ వ్యవహారం ఇంకాస్త ఘాటుగా ఉంటే.. కథకు మరింత ఫీల్‌గుడ్ ఫ్యాక్టర్ పెరిగి ఉండేదనిపిస్తుంది. క్లైమాక్స్‌లో దర్శకుడు సెన్సిటివ్‌గా డీల్ చేసిన అంశాలు యూత్‌కు మంచి ఫీల్‌ను కలిగిస్తాయి.

7 డేస్ 6 నైట్స్ మూవీని ఆనంద్ పాత్రలో కనిపించిన సుమంత్ ఆశ్విన్ ఎమోషనల్‌గా మార్చేశాడని చెప్పవచ్చు. ఇప్పటి వరకు సాఫ్ట్ లవర్ బాయ్‌గా కనిపించిన సుమంత్.. భారమైన పాత్రలో ఎమోషనల్‌గా మెప్పించాడు. నటనపరంగా సుమంత్‌ కొత్తగా కనిపిస్తాడు. ఇక మంగళంగా రోహన్ ఎనర్జీ బాగుంది. తన పాత్ర ద్వారా మంచి ఫన్ క్రియేట్ చేశాడు. మొదటి సినిమా అయినప్పటికి అనుభవం ఉన్న నటుడిగా తెరపైన కనిపించాడు. రొమాంటిక్ సీన్లలోను, డైలాగ్, హావభావాలు, యాటిట్యూడ్ పరంగా ఆకట్టుకొన్నాడు. రితిక అలియాస్ రాట్స్‌గా నటించిన మెహర్ చాహల్‌లో గ్లామర్ ఫైర్ ఉంది. కానీ దర్శకుడు ఎంఎస్ రాజు సాఫ్ట్‌గా డీల్ చేయడం వల్ల మెహర్ గ్లామర్ ట్రీట్ పూర్తిగా అందించలేకపోయిందనే నిరాశ కనిపించింది. కెరీర్‌ను పక్కాగా ప్లాన్ చేసుకొంటే.. ఇండస్ట్రీకి మంచి హీరోయిన్‌గా మారే అవకాశాలు ఉన్నాయి. గోపరాజు రమణ, మిగితా క్యారెక్టర్లు కథకు బలంగా కనిపించే క్యారెక్టర్లుగా ఉన్నాయి.  

సమర్థ్ మ్యూజిక్ సినిమాకు స్పెషల్ ఎట్రాక్షన్. జునైద్ ఎడిటింగ్ బాగుంది. ఇక నాని సినిమాటోగ్రఫి అదనపు ఆకర్షణ. గోవాలోని కొత్త ప్రదేశాలను, అందాలను తెరపైన కనులకు విందుగా మార్చడంలో నాని పనితీరు బాగుంది. సాహిత్యం, డైలాగ్స్ పరంగా చూస్తే.. చాలా క్లీన్ కంటెంట్‌ను ఇవ్వడానికి ఎంఎస్ రాజు తన అనుభవాన్ని రంగరించినట్టు కనిపిస్తుంది. వైల్డ్ హనీ ప్రొడక్షన్స్, వింటేజ్ పిక్చర్స్ & ఎబిజి క్రియేషన్స్ నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి.  

ఫ్రెండ్ షిప్, లవ్, ఫ్యామిలీ వ్యాల్యూస్‌తో కూడిన చిత్రం 7 days and 6 nights. ఇంకా ఈ కథకు ఎమోషనల్ పాయింట్స్ జోడించి ఉంటే.. బెటర్ రోడ్ జర్నీ, ట్రావెలగ్ మూవీ అయి ఉండేది. డిఫరెంట్ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే, యూత్‌ను టార్గెట్ చేసే అంశాలు ఈ సినిమాకు ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్. విజువల్ పరంగా బాగుంది. వీకెండ్‌లో ఫ్యామిలీ, యూత్ కలిసి చూడదగిన చిత్రం. ఎలాంటి అంచనాలు లేకుండా వెళితే.. తప్పకుండా సినిమా మంచి అనుభూతిని కలిగిస్తుంది.

Anand is a wannabe filmmaker who is tired of waiting for his first break. He faces a major setback in his personal life when his girlfriend Vinni moves to the US all of a sudden. Ahead of his friend Mangalam's wedding, he and the friend travel to Goa to spend a good time. There, Anand develops a bond with Rathika, a young girl working at a restaurant. Meanwhile, Mangalam gets into a relationship with a location manager named Ameya.

What Is the Film About? Anand (Sumanth Ashwin) is a wannabe director who is in depression. His script is not finding takers, and the lover has left for greener pastures. Anand has a best friend, Mangalam, who is about to get married. Together they embark on a journey to Goa to celebrate Mangalam’s last few days of bachelorhood.

What happens on Anand and Mangalam’s Goa trip is 7 Days 6 Nights basic plot. What did Anand rediscover forms the story’s undercurrent theme.

Performances Sumanth Ashwin looks okay for the part considering the ‘meta’ angle related to his actual career. But, he still lacks the emotional depth to portray the real pain of the character. The styling on top of that makes the whole act look tacky from the start.

Rohan plays a parallel lead to Sumanth Ashwin. Character-wise his part is the opposite of Anand and has a central entertainment-providing role in the narrative. Rohan has done well but fails to bring emotional depth at crucial moments. He is fine as long as it is fun and frolic.

Analysis MS Raju directs 7 Days 6 Nights. After his last outing, Dirty Hari, this is another ‘edgy’ and ‘niche’ outing from the veteran filmmaker in an attempt to connect with the younger generation.

Unfortunately, 7 Days 6 Nights is a step back for MS Raju after Dirty Hari. It isn’t about the ‘bold content’ but more about the story and execution. The problem was there in Dirty Hari itself, but it’s more apparent here.

For starters, 7 Days 6 Nights is a rip-off of the Hollywood movie Sideways that came almost two decades ago. More than the copying, the lack of up-gradation shows how out of touch the filmmaker is with the current sensibilities.

The effort to modernise can’t be dismissed, though. We can feel that with the writing and the music. But, it goes missing when it comes to the visual and particularly the execution. The staging of a scene lacks the modern touch.

7 Days 6 Nights relies heavily on the ‘moments’ and fun and the undercurrent drama beneath all the fun. We never feel the emotional depth here. The narrative progresses superficially with no connection at all with the characters.

Since the story is thin and the casting is weak, the narrative feels tiring and running out of steam soon. It feels like a never-ending boring trip. The cherry on top is the predictability of the screenplay.

The first and second half moves at the same pace providing no particular high or low. It just goes through the motion to reach the end, which one can see coming miles away.

Overall, 7 Days 6 Nights is a bland and boring road trip movie. It is devoid of emotions, and that’s where it fails. The lacklustre leads add to the predicament.

Performances by Others Actors Apart from Sumanth Ashwin and Rohan, there are two female leads, Meher Chahal and Krithika Shetty. The former is better of the two as at least she has some character to speak off. The latter is utterly forgettable. Goparaju Ramana appears in a scene, and he is adequate. Naresh can be heard but not seen. The rest don’t have anything worthwhile.

Music and Other Departments? Samarth Gollapudi’s music is a significant positive aspect of the movie. It is the only element setting the right mood for the narrative and adds value to the proceedings. The songs are needless, but the background score is decent.

Nani Chamidisetty’s cinematography is alright. It follows a routine palette we usually see or associate with the road trip movies, with Goa as the location. There is nothing new or fresh in his approach or work. Junaid Siddiqui’s editing is decent. The writing is also okay in parts, but it fails to go to the next level.
