Long Speech On Importance Of Family Values 500 Words In English

Good Morning to one and all.

Firstly, for this opportunity to deliver a speech on stage, I would like to thank all my teachers. I also want to address all my friends for all the support. A special thanks to my class teacher Ms. Sanjana Roy, for giving me such a great topic, which we all can relate with.

Before I talk about the Importance of family values, I would like to ask everybody, what is the definition of family and how a family in our life keeps the most Importance. We can’t imagine our existence without our family. The members of the family define family values. In my opinion, the more the members, the merrier the family would be. Together with our parents, our grandparents, and our uncles, aunts, and cousins, living in the same roof is quite exciting.

The kind of affection and love we get from our family is beyond words. We get our strength only when our family become our backbone and supports throughout our journey. Childhood is the time to connect with our family, but when we grow as adults, sometimes, the sentiments and affection fade away due to our busy schedules. It is also due to the reason that we are quite influenced by western culture and civilization that we feel constraint in the family atmosphere. But we have to realize; it is our family that sustains us when we face a crisis.

Money is temporary, but the love for our family remains constant. The family should mean the whole world to us. But if we live together, then only it remains a family. When the family members stick to each other in the thick and thin times and understand each other, that completes the family’s values. Families share happiness and sadness, eat together, laugh together, and make memories together.

So, wherever we go, we must maintain our family values. It shapes our identity and makes us unique from the crowd. We are nothing without our family. Even if we grow old, we should never compromise the family values and its importance.

These lessons are essential throughout our life. We should understand the lessons of love and compassion towards our family, which ensures the holistic development of our personality. For the betterment of society, valuing your family is essential. If we have a happy family, society will also remain peaceful and lead to a life of harmony. It will also help the nation to progress without any crisis or conflict.

Family is not just about your parents, siblings, or relatives; you can call a close group of friends also family. The teachers who give you lessons, not just regarding studies but also life lessons throughout your educational journey, we can also call them a family.

For always teaching me the value of family and always guiding me in the right path, I am indebted to my family, friends, and teachers.

Family Values: What They Are, What They Are And Examples

Family values: what they are, what they are and examples - Examples of family values

Every time we have thought that the families of our friends or close acquaintances are different from ours, we usually end up reflecting on the reason for their priorities. Families form a system of values that is generally transmitted from generation to generation, a system that allows them to evaluate the most appropriate and healthy ways to achieve interpersonal and intrapersonal coexistence.

Family values are the fundamental beliefs, principles, and norms that guide the behaviors, attitudes, and interactions within a family unit. These values shape the family’s identity, culture, and cohesion, influencing how members communicate, relate to one another, and navigate life’s challenges together. In this article, we delve into the significance, components, and importance of family values in fostering strong and resilient relationships.

Table of Contents

What are family values

Family values are precepts, norms or agreements that guide the members of each family to have a harmonious, fluid and balanced coexistence. Generally, family values are based on various concepts of love. Love as the basis of different relationships usually leads to a coexistence of tolerance, mutual growth, respect, solidarity and empathy. That is, family values direct attitudes, interests and thoughts towards human development

As Ramos explains (1) , boys and girls need to be educated based on the existence of clear, well-configured values with a coherence that gives them credibility. Double speech or double life cannot exist here because experiences are transmitted and lived. On the other hand, children learn from home even when their parents have no intention of doing so due to the powerful factor of imitation.

The notion of good and evil is not something innate in children; it is adults, with their way of approving or disapproving certain attitudes, who will propose the rules. For example, from the age of 3, good is what makes mom happy and calm and bad is what makes her angry; This is how the child’s moral conscience is born. In the following article you will find more information about Ethical Values: what they are, list and examples.

Significance of Family Values

Family values serve as the cornerstone of healthy and functional family dynamics, providing a framework for:

  • Identity Formation : Family values help shape individuals’ sense of identity, belonging, and self-concept by instilling a shared set of beliefs, traditions, and customs.

  • Love and Support : Unconditional love, acceptance, and emotional support are central to family values, fostering a sense of security, belonging, and well-being among all members.
  • Respect and Empathy : Respect for individual differences, perspectives, and boundaries promotes empathy, tolerance, and harmonious relationships within the family.
  • Communication and Trust : Open, honest, and respectful communication builds trust, transparency, and understanding among family members, facilitating meaningful connections and problem-solving.
  • Responsibility and Accountability : Teaching responsibility, accountability, and integrity instills a strong work ethic, moral values, and a sense of duty to oneself and others.
  • Tradition and Ritual : Honoring family traditions, rituals, and celebrations fosters a sense of continuity, heritage, and belonging across generations, strengthening family bonds and collective identity.

Importance of Family Values

Family values play a vital role in shaping individuals’ attitudes, behaviors, and relationships, contributing to:

  • Generational Legacy : Passing down family values from one generation to the next preserves cultural heritage, traditions, and wisdom, ensuring continuity and cohesion within the family lineage.

Defining family values for children

Family values are all those recommendations that our parents have given us at certain times or recommendations on how we should behave with our friends, family and neighbors. It is also all the advice that they give us on how to deal with the things that worry us, make us sad or upset.

Many times family values guide us to respect any living being, including schoolmates, friends, siblings, cousins, teachers, animals, nature and any other person we know. That attitude of respect that family values teach us allows us to accept and promote the freedom of every living being.

List of family values

The most important family values are the following:

  • Solidarity.
  • Resilience.
  • Responsibility.
  • Compassion.
  • Conviction.
  • Discipline.
  • Independence.
  • Commitment.
  • Perseverance.
  • Self-control.
  • Friendship.

If you want to know more about other types of values, in the following article you will find information about the 20 Professional Values: what they are, list and examples.

Examples of family values

Finally, it is important to be aware that family values teach us to live with our peers, although without a doubt we are not all the same. Below we leave you some examples of how to apply family values in our lives:

  • Solidarity and equity : We are not all the same nor have we lived the same experiences. A child who has grown up in a community far removed from the city with few services at home (for example, electricity and water) will be relatively limited in some aspects in relation to another who has grown up in the metropolis (with more services and access than facilitate their development); both children despite differences in their performance (social, academic, emotional, cognitive, and so on). Both express the same interest in growing, so solidarity guides us towards supporting the interests of both. A child who learns that there will be notable differences in people will know that this does not correspond to the exception of the practice of family values.
  • Gratitude : the learning of this family value is observed, for example, in those moments where the child is taught the corresponding social skills – especially in recognizing how important a person and his or her efforts are – guiding him or her to practice verbal and bodily gestures. (a hug, a handshake and its corresponding articulation). Here we explain what gratitude is and how it is practiced.
  • Empathy : An example from childhood of this family value is the frequent attitude of the child when he observes one of his classmates or a little brother crying and he approaches to ask – What’s wrong? – and maybe a few pats on the back too. Empathy allows the human being – and in this case the child – to try to understand the emotional life and everything else that happens in the people, events and animals that surround them.
  • Friendship : From childhood we must be able to learn the value of friendship, mutual affection and the loyalty that is born from contact with others.

Family values are the bedrock of strong, nurturing, and harmonious relationships, providing guidance, stability, and support for individuals and families as they navigate life’s journey together. By upholding and embodying positive family values, individuals can cultivate a sense of belonging, purpose, and fulfillment within their family units, fostering bonds that endure through time and adversity.

Speech on My Family – My Family Speech in English for Children and Students

February 17, 2022 by Study Mentor 12 Comments

The best gift God has given to all living beings on earth is a family. Getting a happy family is a blessing because not everyone in the world has it. The pleasure of living with your parents, fighting over petty with your siblings can just make you smile the moment you think about it.

My family has always supported me without any claim, from the moral teachings to love and support. For me, my family is like a strong pillar on which I can rely blindly whenever I need support. My family is always there to inspire and support me to overcome all life challenges and accomplish things. A relation is a unique kind of love that gives you all the lessons you need to live a healthy lifestyle.

My family is one of the world’s craziest families. We ‘re four members, my mother, my father, my younger brother, and me. While my dad is the one who works for a living, my mom is the boss of the house. My dad is a humble person. He doesn’t scold us. But, just the opposite, our mother. She needs us to remain vigilant, and she quite often scolds us.

  • I have a wonderful family, and I love every member of my family.
  • My family is made up of four members- father, mother, brother, and myself.
  • My dad is an engineer, and my mother, by profession, is a school teacher.
  • Every member of my family loves, respects, and cares for one another.
  • My family goes there once every two weeks for a picnic.
  • After dinner each night, we all like to spend time with each other.
  • My family has taught me strong lessons about our love, solidarity, and cooperation.

Table of Contents

Why family is important?

Families are wealth, which not everyone is lucky enough to have. Sometimes, those who have don’t value this gift. Families are important because they assist in our development. They grow us all into a full-fledged human with individual identity. They always offer us a sense of comfort and a safe place to flourish within. We learn to socialize and develop our intellect through our families. Studies demonstrate that people who live with their families tend to be happier than those who live alone. In times of trouble, they serve as your pillar.

When the entire world questions you, families are the only ones who believe in you. Similarly, they ‘re the first to cheer you up when you’re down and out. Having a supportive family by your side is a great blessing. In ups and downs, my family has always been at my side. They taught me how to be a better human being. I will be grateful to my family forever for what they did to me. Without them, I can’t imagine my life. They are my first instructors and friends.

The atmosphere in my family

We have a peaceful environment at home. After school, we spent our time studying, playing and watching TV, which our mother certainly doesn’t like. Like other partners, my mum and father rarely fight. In reality, as soon as we see an argument coming up, one of them just withdraws, and a heated debate between them is just rare to see. That’s what I like most about them because I feel my parents are so sweet. It is just my brother and me who enjoy competing with each other.

However, we know that it is truly our love for one another that holds us together behind those battles. I just enjoy spending time at home with my parents and my brother. I feel like how bad it will be when we go on with our professional lives tomorrow, and we won’t be able to spend a lot of time together.

My family values

My family values are what I care so much about because they have made me what I am today, and I intend to pass on these great values in the future to my children. Every family has those things, acts, and values that they hold in high regard and so much appreciation

My Family Values include –

This is a strongly secured concept within my family. Since my childhood, my family has made me learn how to be honest and the benefits that lie inside

My mom believes that if the world and everyone in it shows love and kindness to each other, there will be no hatred, and wars will be wiped out.

This is a concept passed down in my family from generation to generation. My dad would say the best legacy you can give a child is education.

I don’t want to be wrongly addressed and give the wrong impression. So, the way we dress and our appearance matters a lot to us.

Why do I love my family?

My father is the world’s best father. I am looking a lot at my father because I want to take a lot of his habits and make them mine. He taught me to be satisfied with everything that I have. My mum is the world’s greatest chef. Without my mum, I don’t know where I will be today. I owe her quite a deal.

My brother is one of the greatest presents that I’ve received. He is the last kid, so if you know what I mean, this gives him the potential to be irritating.

Each family has one thing or the other, which they hold in high regard and continue to pass from one generation to another. That is what makes a family a single group not because blood binds us but because we share the same beliefs. We always have one reason to love our family. I love my family because it’s the best gift I’ve ever been able to ask for and the fact they’ve been there for me through the good, bad, and fun times. They are a complete word for me. They are always to support me during my tough times.

My Family Speech – Essay 2

Good morning/afternoon to everyone.

My name is John and I am here to present a speech on ‘ My Family ’. I love my family. I have my father , mother and a younger sister in my family. They take great care of me. A family is the most important and complete unit of a society.

This requires a lot of effort into building relationships with everyone belonging to your family. And I’m so glad to acknowledge the great support and affection I derive from my family that builds me up as a unique creation of God and encourages me to follow my dreams and passions.

Father is the head of the family and he is supposed to lead everyone because we all look up to him. My father is a much disciplined man. Henceforth, he wants to keep us all in strict discipline.

‘Early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise’

And that’s kind of the principle of our family. My daddy makes us go to sleep early and wakes us up early. Sometimes, very early! Although it seems so disruptive at the moment when I can’t get to be lazy sometimes but I know that he does it for our good and I respect him for that.

My daddy is my role model . He is more special to me than Superman and Spiderman because he can do what no one can. His sweet affection is so dearly communicated while we sit every night at the dinner table and talk about our day. My daddy also taught me to pray.

So whenever I am afraid I close my eyes and pray to God and I feel peace in my heart. Well, yes I am very naughty and I get spankings from him sometimes. Like, when I disturb him during work hours or I disrespectfully yell at people. He teaches me to respect my elders.

my family paragraph

He initiates me into things I don’t understand. He always pushes me to work harder, to go an extra mile even when I don’t think I can, I do it anyway! He always emphasizes the importance of education.

He makes me believe that I have powerful capabilities and I dream to be a very wonderful, successful and brave person as he is, full of integrity. He tells me every day how much he loves me and I’m ever thankful for him.

My mother is my favourite. She is the sweetest person on earth. She doesn’t scold me much; instead she even saves me from daddy’s spankings sometimes because she’s very kind. She is also very beautiful. She doesn’t go out for work because she has to take care of my younger sister.

She takes out time for me every day no matter how tired she is and helps me with my homework and talks about a whole lot of sensible things that teach me to be a person of strong moral character. She is a wise woman. Unlike many others, she is a good steward and she likes to spend her money very wisely.

She maintains order in the house and makes our house look so beautiful. Although sometimes when I leave my room so messed up she scolds me but then she cleans it and makes it so tidy that I’m hardly able to recognize it any more. She makes me so happy that sometimes I dance around to show off me elegance and she joins me.

Little things like that make my heart rejoice and make my day. She cooks the most delicious food in the world. I dread those days when I will have to leave my home someday to go away for studies; I don’t know how I will survive without her. She is God’s most wonderful gift to me.

My younger sister has not started school yet but she’s very mischievous just as I am. We are kind of click together. Sometimes I playfully irritate her and she cries to mummy and then I feel bad. So I try to take good care of her too.

I love my family very much and I’m so grateful for my parents.

Speech on My Family

Welcome! Let’s talk about a very special group of people – my family. They are the ones who fill my life with joy, laughter, and love.

Every family is unique, just like mine. With a variety of personalities and interests, they make my world colorful and exciting.

1-minute Speech on My Family

Good morning everyone. Today, I am here to share a few words about a very special aspect of my life – My Family.

In my eyes, my family is like a strong tree with branches, where each branch represents a member of my family. I am lucky to have a small, loving family that comprises my parents, my younger brother, my grandparents, and myself. We are a team, a unit that stands by each other in all circumstances, just like a tree that withstands the storm.

My parents are the roots of our family tree. They are the pillars of our household, providing for us and nurturing us with their love and care. My dad is a banker and my mom, a school teacher. Despite their busy schedules, they always make sure to spend quality time with my brother and me.

I have a playful younger brother. We fight, we laugh, we play, and we share secrets. He is my partner in almost every crime. And then there are my grandparents, the wise old branches of our family tree. Their experience and wisdom guide us through our lives.

Our family is our fortress against the outside world. We celebrate our joys together, and in times of sorrow, we support each other unconditionally. Despite our individual differences, we share an unbreakable bond that strengthens with each passing day.

In conclusion, my family is my strength, my happiness, and my ultimate inspiration. They are the source of my values and beliefs, and the reason I am who I am today. Our love for each other is the fuel that keeps us going. Indeed, my family is my greatest blessing.

Thank you for lending me your ears and allowing me to share about my family.

2-minute Speech on My Family

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I come from a close-knit family that consists of five members – my parents, an elder brother, a younger sister, and myself. Each member, unique in their way, contributes to making our family a cohesive unit. My father, a businessman by profession, is the backbone of our family. Despite his busy schedule, he ensures quality time with us, teaching us life lessons and guiding us through the ups and downs. He is our superhero, who has instilled in us values like honesty, hard work, and respect for all.

My mother, a homemaker, is the heart of our family, spreading love and happiness. She is our emotional anchor, who keeps us grounded and ensures peace and harmony at home. Her dedication and unconditional love for us make us feel secure and loved. She has taught us the importance of kindness, empathy, and patience. Her delicious cooking is something we all look forward to every day.

Now, let me introduce you to my elder brother, who is not just my sibling but also my mentor and friend. He is pursuing his studies in engineering and is a role model for me in terms of academic achievement. His perseverance and commitment towards his goals have always inspired me. His protective nature makes me feel safe, and his encouraging words give me the strength to face challenges.

My younger sister, the little bundle of joy in our family, fills our home with laughter and cheerfulness. Being the youngest, she is the most pampered, but also the most caring among us. Her innocent questions and curious nature encourage us to look at life with a fresh perspective.

The essence of my family lies in the shared values, love, and care that we have for each other. We stand by each other in times of need and celebrate every small and big occasion together. Our family is a place where we can be our true selves. It is a sanctuary where we learn values, ethics, and the importance of relationships.

Thank you for lending me your ears and allowing me to share about my family. It was an honor to have this opportunity. I wish you all a fantastic day ahead!

Speech About Family - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

  • Speech About Family

Speech About Family- Here is a 10-line speech, short speech and long speech about “family”.

One of the greatest blessings and gifts is family. Without a family, you cannot experience love, care, contentment, or happiness. They are the most precious blessing that we can never lose. It is comparable to a fragile item you value more than any diamond in your life. Here are some sample speeches about “family”.

10 Lines Speech About Family

Short speech about family, long speech about family.

Speech About Family - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

The word "family" is more than just a word; it evokes a feeling that makes us smile.

Family doesn't just mean being related to one another biologically. But becoming a family involves developing a heart connection.

Family is where we belong, and they are the ones who will always love us without conditions.

Everybody finds unconditional love and warmth, but most importantly, they discover a sense of belonging in their families.

The connections that unite family members are unbreakable.

We always find strength and support in family, and family is where we find a place to call home.

They are the ones who offer comfort when facing challenges in life.

A family can provide a comfortable environment where virtues like equality, care, responsibility, humility, and kindness can be appreciated and practised.

Family is a constant source of inspiration for doing good deeds and lending a hand to those in need.

Strong fundamental values allow a family to live in harmony and peace for many generations.

Family members determine family values. Living under the same roof with our parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins is a lot of fun. We receive an enormous amount of love and care from our family. Only when our families become our pillars of support and stand by us on our journey can we find our strength. Childhood is a time to bond with our family, but as we get older and become adults, our hectic schedules can often cause those feelings to fade.

Family And Values

Family values are fulfilled when family members stay close to one another through good and bad times and can communicate with one another. Everyone benefits from having a loving and strong family, which also allows them to grow as people. Families also enhance the qualities and values of life.

Children learn from their families, who also help them become ready for future obstacles. The family will always be important to us no matter how distant or close we live. And family ensures that no one ever feels alone in the world. We must therefore uphold our family values wherever we go. Our identity is shaped by it, distinguishing us from the rest. We should never compromise the values of the family or their significance as we grow.

The bond we have with one another from the moment of our birth is our family. It makes no difference what kind of family someone is from, as long as there is compassion and acceptance. It makes no difference whether you come from a nuclear family, a joint family, or a family with the same partners. Our family is strong because of the bonds we share with our members. Each of us has a different relationship with each family member. A family is, among other things, the most influential group in a person's life. The value of family cannot be overstated. They significantly impact our lives and help us become better people. Those who are fortunate enough to have families frequently underestimate their importance.

Importance Of Family

Our strength comes from our families. It teaches us the importance of relationships. They support us in developing deep connections with others outside our immediate environment. We transmit the affection we receive from our families to the relationships we have on our own. Children may learn how to behave while you are not around if you consider your family values and instil them in them at a young age. Important family values and ethical principles will serve as a guide throughout life. The family can therefore be nuclear or joint, but a family is constantly there for us in both good and bad times to help us navigate life's challenges.

Our family shows us an enormous amount of love and affection. Only when our families solidify as our pillars of support for the duration of our journey can we gain our strength. Childhood is crucial for family connections, but as we get older and busier as adults, the feelings and compassion can often diminish. We also feel constrained in the family setting because of how much western culture and civilization have influenced us. But we must understand that when we are faced with a catastrophe, our family keeps us alive.

My Family And I

I belong to a nuclear family and am the eldest among my siblings. For my higher studies, I had to migrate to another country, which was one of my life's most challenging parts as I'm an introvert and need to make friends and trust quickly. At the beginning of a few days, I couldn't adapt to the environment and culture and usually made phone calls to my parents and turned up with tears and felt alone.

Meanwhile, my parents encouraged and showed faith in me. They always communicate with me to generate a positive environment. They always guide me to enjoy life to the fullest, make friends and participate in college events, thus resulting in satisfaction. However, with time I learnt to be patient and happy, started focusing on my skills, and ended up with outstanding career growth. Hence,

I feel overwhelmed to have a family who supported me through thick and thin times. Many things contribute to a family's strength. It is created from love and teaches us to love others without conditions. A family is strengthened most significantly by acceptance and understanding.

  • Family Values - What We See, We Think and We Become

ffImage

An Introduction

“Mom, I'm hungry. Please give me some food.” Or, “Dad, I'm getting late. Please come fast.” Have you listened to these phrases? What? What are you saying?

You are saying that you have used them, all of them. Oh, that is great. What do you think your parents offered when you asked them the same? Probably you are thinking about some food or dropping at the right time. Isn’t it?

Your mother is not just offering you food, she nourishes you with her unconditional love. Your father is not just dropping you off at the right time to your school, even becoming a person in your life to whom you can call in any difficult situation and seek help. This is Family.

Values we learn from family

Values we learn from family

What are Family Values?

Family values have a wider definition. Before getting into it, we must know a few terms. Let's get started with them.

What is Family?

Family is a group of people where one or more parents live together with their children as a unit. Sometimes a pet also becomes a member of the family. Families are of two types, nuclear family and joint family. Both offer different family values; however many of them are similar.

Nowadays, in the modern world, the concept of the nuclear family is trending, especially in urban areas. In nuclear families, parents live with their children, and as they grow they make a separate family. Whereas in the joint family, parents live with their children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Joint families could be seen in rural areas usually, and very less in urban areas.

Family values are something that we get from our parents in the form of love, care, trust, honesty, kindness, empathy, compassion, perseverance, and many more. They instil these values in us knowingly or unknowingly to make us good human beings.

Family values are sometimes called cultural or traditional values that show the beliefs, roles, attitudes and values of one's family.

Though nuclear families and joint families are very different in nature, being a family, parents try to instil the same core family values that they get from their parents.

Some of the core traditional family values are the following:

1. Unconditional Love

Undoubtedly, this core value is built in each one of us by our loving and caring mother or grandmother.  This value you can only learn from family . They pour their love into food, which eventually makes us a little fat. Isn’t it?

This value teaches us to show love to all people, animals or nature. It not only makes us a kind-hearted person, but one who could feel the pain of others and take care of them. Unconditional love is the purest value that strengthens a person to stand alone on this planet.

2. Spiritual and Religious Values

These values somehow instil self-awareness and belief in the power of nature or God. It also motivates us for charity or donation. In many religions, tithing is performed. Also, regular family worship unites us as a unit.

3. Character Values

Character values are those values that we receive from each of our family members in the form of honesty, positivity, courage, grit, kindness and integrity.

4. Social Values

Social values are the combination of our behaviour towards family, society, and environment. We all are social animals. We have to follow certain rules and regulations and cooperate with each other. Acceptance, empathy, respect, appropriate language are some of the key factors of social values. The main purpose of instiling social value in an individual is to foster them to serve society.

5. Work Values

Your mother cooks the best food and still manages her office work perfectly, whereas your father washes the dishes and follows his job routine strictly. Do you know what values you learn from this? You learn team spirit, cooperation, punctuality and always to do one's best. These are the work values that you need to adapt to flourish your life.

6. Civic Values

These are the most important principles to live a life with dignity and respect. In a family, we nurture with love but are never allowed to do something wrong or unjust. Civic value teaches us the fundamental rights of a person, which includes freedom of speech (without damaging the other people) and standing up for the rights of others.

7. Home Values

Home values include the value of the time we share with family. Sharing meals, going for a picnic or spending some special quality time with our loved ones maintains a freshness in relations. This value teaches us to cheer each moment of life and be together in any circumstances of life.

These are some of the values we all learn from our families. We believe each child gets the best parenting values while growing. These values are the lesson for life. It helps them to deal with society, its issues and to make the world a better place to live.

Sharing the values that you hold, is the best part of parenting. While parenting not only a child learns in each step, it also involves the parents. No one family is perfect, yet the healthy environment of a family makes a happy family.

Tip for Parents

Character and social values come directly from our family, so we request all parents to behave well. Your child will grow up to be the person they see rather than the one you teach. We sincerely request each guardian to never disrespect each other, any family member or even the person who worked under you. Your gestures, actions or words will reflect in your kids. Remember, your good deeds result in a better society.

Thus, people say, “As you sow, so shall you reap”.

Speech About My Family

Speech About My Family (500+ Words)

Respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends,

Today I am going to speak about my family.

Family is where we learn our first life lessons, and they are the only assets that remain with us forever. I have a strong attachment to my highly educated and kind-hearted family, and their wonderful nature brings us closer. My love for my family surpasses anything else.

In our nuclear family of five, my father, a teacher, takes the lead and guides our family. He is the driving force behind our family’s success, predicting our needs and shouldering all responsibilities to shape our lives. He is my hero, making incredible sacrifices and ensuring our well-being.

What sets my father apart is that he never imposes his career choices on me. He values my independence and believes in allowing me to pursue my own path based on my interests, suitability, and capabilities. However, he desires a better future for me, and his support and guidance are invaluable.

My mother, a lovely woman, is both a dedicated homemaker and a talented beautician. She understands me like no one else, and we work together as partners in everyday tasks and challenges. Her elegant and insightful actions shape me into a noble individual. She encourages me to engage in activities that build character and promote personal growth, fostering a natural learning environment.

The love and respect I have for my mother goes beyond words, as she exemplifies unmatched motherhood and makes incredible sacrifices for me.

My grandmother, the cutest person in our family, brings a sense of discipline. Her presence ensures that everyone rises early in the morning. She delights us with her skill in making delicious sweet dishes, and we adore her for it. Her focused nature keeps everything in order and adds balance to our lives.

My elder brother, the tallest among us, is a passionate YouTuber and cooking enthusiast. He also loves playing cricket and is a gadget aficionado. Although he may not focus much on academics, his sweetness, and gentlemanly demeanor make him endearing.

Despite being in my final year of studies, my family continues to treat me with the affectionate nickname “chottu.” This endearing gesture reflects the immense love and care they have for me. I aspire to become a pillar of support for my family and repay the love and care they have shown me.

For me, my family is the epitome of love and support. Regardless of the circumstances, we are always there for each other, nurturing good values and morals. Respect for elders and love for younger ones are instilled in us from a young age.

My grandmother consistently teaches me important lessons in honesty, dependability, kindness, and more. I treasure my family as they are the precious jewels of my life. Their unwavering hard work to fulfill our desires strengthens my love and respect for my parents. We bond by playing games every night and engaging in meaningful discussions, cherishing quality time spent together. My family holds the highest place in my heart, surpassing anyone else.

With this, I conclude my speech. Thank you all for your patience and cooperation.

MSU Extension

Creating and embracing family values.

Terry Clark-Jones, Michigan State University Extension - October 29, 2013

Family values are the backbone to a healthy family.

Family values are the foundation that guides us. They are created from the morals , integrity and rules on how we live our life. These values dictate how we parent, manage money, deal with relationships and more. Many human development specialists and studies have written on the importance of family values and morals. Values teach what the household believes is right and wrong.

Parents and caregivers can do a number of things to pass on family values to their children. For family values to work, they need to have worth and value to everyone in the household. They are about teaching and if you are not practicing what you preach, then you are creating a double standard. For example, if “no swearing” is a rule then you should not swear. If you tell your children one thing and then you do the opposite, you have decreased the worth of the moral or value. The chances of your children adopting that moral or value will become less.

Family rituals are another meaningful way to create family values. These rituals can be as simple as eating a meal together every day, celebrating birthdays, holidays or other special life events. Family values are shared by having discussions about current events or situations your child is exposed to in everyday life. Try not to isolate your child too much. Gradually, expose them to different situations in society and help them learn how to deal with conflicting values. You then can have great conversations on how everyone has different sets of values and morals.

Values give families a guide on how they live their life. It influences decision making, relationships, influences judgment and behavior. As parents and caregivers, family values protect our kids against making hurtful decisions in the future.

Take some time as a family and think about what your family morals and values are, and embrace them to the fullest. Michigan State University Extension offers the Nurturing Parenting program that covers the topic of family morals and values. Family values are intrinsic to our Indian Society because we do believe living in joint families. However, this very structure of our Indian society is crumbling down fast and people are switching to nuclear families. It is therefore important to realize ourselves about the importance of family values and the joy one experiences while living in a joint family. One gets unconditional love, unswerving support, great emotional connect and most importantly gains the strength to steer clear through any tough situations in life.

Importance of Family Values Speech

Warm Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen! Thank you for coming in large numbers and making this event a success.

Also Check: My Family Essay

As you all know that the theme of today’s event revolves around the importance of family values, it therefore becomes important to say a few words in this regard. In our country, we give so much importance to family and the kind of values it teaches. Indian values are founded on the joint family system and the whole concept of nuclear families doesn’t appeal to us. We believe in taking everyone along and understand the importance of a family.

A house becomes a home with family and a family is never completed with two people, but when parents, grandparents, children, uncles and aunts come together. The concept of a nuclear family is imported from west and the more we are coming under their influence; the more we are becoming divorced from our own Indian value system. It’s high time now that we teach our youth the importance of family values and make them realize that it is never a wise thing to leave our roots behind and deviate from our family values.

Family values must be inculcated in our children not because importance should be given to one’s own family, but because it adds substance to our lives thereby making our lives more meaningful. Unfortunately, many people do not realize the importance of family values till the time they experience a situation of crisis which ultimately shakes them to the core. It is at that time when they find themselves completely alone without any emotional support and then they begin realizing the importance of a family. Family is what sustains us and serves as a bundle of joy in the absence of which life becomes completely hollow.

So let us know how and in what ways family values are important:

  • Lays a Family Foundation

Foundation is what lends support to a family so much so that when the situation of crisis arises, the family is able to sustain itself. Families that are founded on a strong value system never falter no matter how much people try to create fissures in their relations with their conflicting beliefs. And the best part is that when any of the family members gets tired from the sold, reckless world that is outside, he/she can always come back into the warm folds of its family and remain in a comforting zone.

  • Helps in Decision Making

Family values surely helps you in making decisions because your mind is conditioned in a particular manner and automatically there’s a voice that comes from within telling you what is right and wrong. You know you won’t go astray, right! Therefore, needless to mention family values is what gives strength from within to a person and helps him/her make the correct choices in life.

  • Ensuring Safety from External Bad Influences

There are many anti-social elements in our society watching and waiting to harm the righteous beings. However, if they keep their family values intact, they are less likely to fall prey to those bad influences.

Family values are therefore of utmost importance and while giving scholastic education to children we should also teach them the importance of family and the crucial role it plays in the holistic development of a child.

This is all from my side, thank you!

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers, Dear Students and Friends – Warm Greetings to all of you!

I, Sarthak Sharma from Class-XII (A), am standing on the dais to deliver a speech on one of the most pertinent topics, i.e. Importance of Family Values. There is a reason why I chose this topic to address; it is because I seriously observe a lack of family values in the growing up children these days.

There is a greater exposure than ever before of the western culture and life style due to which we are losing out on our values. It is important to keep a check on the influence of western culture and keep our family values intact. However, having said that I would also like to say that there is nothing wrong with the western civilization, it entirely depends on us what we want to embrace from the west while not losing out on our cultural values.

It is important that amidst all the glamour of the western world, we do not get swept off our feet and remains connected to our native cultural roots and values. Family values are an intrinsic part of the bulwark of our Indian society and we should never try to separate them both. Besides, I believe that no person is complete without a family because it is a family after all that supports and nurtures a man. If I were to talk symbolically, a family is quite similar to a tree, which has many stems in the form of relations. These relations can be in the form of parents, spouse, children, uncle, aunt, etc. And society which is divorced of the warmth of family values and relations crumbles down soon.

Materialistic possessions are short lived, but family love and affection never die down. This is the reason why families are treasured and so much effort goes into preserving it. Have you ever carefully observed a pearl necklace? All the pearls are finely interwoven in a string, which looks beautiful and to be able to maintain its beauty, one needs to be careful while using it because a rough use can break the entire piece and the pearls can come falling down. Likewise, even a family needs to be carefully preserved because emotions and feelings of your closed ones are attached to it and any gross negligence on your part can make you lose your dear ones.

It is therefore advised to always hold dear the love of your family members, keep your family values intact and in turn you would find a beautiful world getting unfolded in front of you. Family values and contemporary lifestyle can go hand in hand provided we know how to strike a balance between them. Everything has its own due importance and a rational person is one who never leaves behind his/her roots come what may because this is what gives us identity and most importantly a sound character.

This is all I have to say, thank you so much!

Respected Class Teacher and My Dear Friends – Good Morning to one and all!

First of all, I would like to thank our class teacher, Mrs. Sanjana Bedi, for giving me the opportunity to deliver a speech in the class today and address all my classmates. Again, special thanks to her for assigning me such a topic, which we all can relate with.

So here it goes, ‘The importance of family values’. Before I come to that, I would like to ask what defines a family and how much it means to us. Can we imagine our existence without our family? Of course, our first reaction would be a ‘No’; we cannot imagine our existence without our family. And a family is defined by its members, the more the merrier – I would say. However, more often than not, it’s about our parents living together under one roof and then there are our grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.

The kind of love and affection we get from our family is simply inexplicable and this is what becomes our strength, our backbone and helps us go a long way. When we are born and grow up as children we remain so connected with our family, but the moment we become adults that sentiment of love and affection seems to fade away. Why does it happen? It happens because we are exposed quite a lot to western culture and civilization so much so that we feel constraint in the family atmosphere little do we realize at the time that it is our very family which sustains us at the time of crisis.

Money comes and goes, but the love of our family lasts forever. It therefore should mean us the whole world. But a family doesn’t simply become a family when its members live together, but when we see mutual love exists for each other and when the members of a family stand by each other through thick and thin. A family becomes a family which doesn’t only share happiness, but sorrows too, which eats together, laughs together and share blissful moments together.

Therefore, no matter where we go we should keep our family values intact because this is what gives or shapes our identity and makes us stand out from the crowd. So let’s remind ourselves that we are nothing without our family and when we grow up as adults, we will never compromise with our family values and continue to give them utmost importance.

This is all I have to say. Now, I would like to request our class teacher to say a few words in this regard and also correct me if I have gone wrong anywhere. Please show us the right path and be our guiding light always because teachers not only impart us theoretical knowledge, but teach us lifelong lessons which help us in becoming a responsible social being.

Thank you so much friends for showing so much of patience and appreciating my speech!

Dear all – Good Evening and welcome to yet another cultural program of our society. It feels extremely glad to host cultural programs in our society every six months which help bring people together and inculcate a sense of comradeship.

But before we begin with our cultural fest, please allow me to extend special thanks and give a warm welcome to our guest today’s evening, Shri Sampatlal Dwivedi, honorary chairman of the leading XYZ industrial group. With many years of togetherness, the bond of our society members is going really very strong.

In fact, people look up to our society and highly appreciate the way we celebrate all the festivals together and live as one family. It is then I realize that I have been extremely lucky to be living in this society and the kind of support and encouragement I have received from my society members after becoming its secretary is simply amazing. In fact, I am quite enjoying being in this role and getting to meet the expectations of everyone.

However, the situation is not same everywhere because not everyone lives in peace and harmony. As a matter of fact, even members within the family tend to get alienated and the entire family set up begins to crumble down. Ladies and gentlemen, when I observe such a scenario I feel extremely sad and my soul weighs down under a heavy burden because of the haplessness of not being able to do anything. This is the reason why I chose to address this topic in today’s cultural evening.

Slowly and gradually, we tend to become alienated from our family values and roots not realizing that it’s the family in the end which incessantly supports us in innumerable ways. Whether you agree or not, but we owe our identity to our family and when we move away from that very family and its values, a state of crisis occurs and chaos prevails in our lives.

Family values are seriously lacking in today’s youth because they live heavily under the influence of western culture. It is the responsibility of the parents as well as teachers to imbibe in their children the importance of family values and help them understand why it is so important in our lives. Family values make us more human, it helps us sympathize with others and in becoming a good human being. We realize the importance of such emotions as love, compassion and camaraderie. This is not all, these qualities also help us succeed in our lives and help us follow the path of righteousness.

So irrespective of what education we are imparting to our students, it is important to teach them lifelong lessons of love and compassion only then will we be ensuring their holistic development and a step towards the betterment of our society and nation as a whole. Because if families are happy, the societies live in peaceful co-existence and if societies live in harmony, the nation as a whole can progress without any situation of conflict or crisis.

This is all I from my side, thank you!

Ronald Reagan picture

Ronald Reagan

Radio address to the nation on family values.

My fellow Americans:

The holiday season is a time of gift giving and merrymaking; a time when millions help churches, synagogues, and organizations like the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots provide for the less fortunate among us, a time when huge turkey dinners are cooked, parents find themselves staying up late wrapping toys, and children's eyes are filled with more and more excitement every day—a time, indeed, when all the world seems taken up with plans and celebrations and family.

That last word, "family," is one that I'd like to consider for a moment. To be sure, family is very much on our minds during the holidays, as children and grandchildren, parents and grandparents, gather to share the happiness of the season. We know how good it feels to be with our families—how it warms and comforts us, how it gives us strength and joy. But I wonder whether we always give our families all the appreciation they deserve. Consider, for example, that the philosopher-historians Will and Ariel Durant called the family "the nucleus of civilization." They understood that all those aspects of civilized life that we most deeply cherish—freedom, the rule of law, economic prosperity and opportunity—that all these depend upon the strength and integrity of the family. If you think about it, you'll see that it's in the family that we must all learn the fundamental lesson of life—right and wrong, respect for others, self-discipline, the importance of knowledge, and, yes, a sense of our own self-worth. All of our lives, it's the love of our families that sustains us when times are hard. And it is perhaps above all to provide for our children that we work and save.

Some have suggested that in today's world, the family has somehow become less important. Well, I can't help thinking just the opposite: that when so much around us is whispering the little lie that we should live only for the moment and for ourselves, it's more important than ever for our families to affirm an older and more lasting set of values. Yet, for all that, in recent decades the American family has come under virtual attack. It has lost authority to government rule writers. It has seen its central role in the education of young people narrowed and distorted. And it's been forced to turn over to big government far too many of its own resources in the form of taxation.

Even so, the family today remains the fundamental unit of American life. But statistics show that it has lost ground, and I don't believe there's much doubt that the American family could be, and should be, much, much stronger. Just last month, I received a report on this from my Working Group on the Family, providing recommendations for giving the family new strength. Our administration will be giving these recommendations serious consideration in the days ahead. But for now we might all do well to keep our families in mind, to make certain that we don't take them for granted. For perhaps at no other time of the year are we able to enjoy our families so thoroughly or see so clearly their importance to ourselves and our country.

And let us remember that in the midst of all the happy bustle of the season there is a certain quietness, a certain calm: the calm of one still night long ago and of a family-father, mother, and newborn child. Listen for a moment to the words of the Scriptures:

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them. And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you. Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"

Now, some revere Christ as just a great prophet. Others worship Him as the Son of God. But to all, this season in which we mark His birth is indeed a time of glad tidings. So, in the midst of our celebrations, let us remember that one holy family in a manger on that still night in Bethlehem so long ago and give renewed thanks for the blessings of our own families. And, yes, let us pray for "peace on earth, good will toward men."

Until next week, thanks for listening, God bless, and from the Reagan family to your family, Merry Christmas!

Note: The President spoke at 12:06 p.m. from Camp David, MD.

How to Raise Respectful Kids

Be supportive.

Even young children deserve respect. Show your kids that you care about their feelings--by sympathizing with their needs, comforting their fears, and explaining what you're doing when it concerns them. Respecting your child means not putting him or her down or making negative statements that could become self-fulfilling prophecies. Children who grow up in supportive families are more likely to develop healthy self-respect--which encourages them to believe in their abilities and make good choices for themselves.

Respect Is a Two-Way Street

Kids aren’t born respectful. They learn respect from their parents and other important grownups in their lives--through imitation and direct teaching. Young children naturally think the outside world, including parents, exists to meet their needs. As they develop language and cognitive skills, you can teach them that hitting and grabbing are wrong, that screaming and interrupting Mom and Dad are not permitted. They learn this little by litte, as parents react with firmness but not anger. Just say, "No screaming. Please use a quiet voice,"  and separate them from the action for a few minutes if they don't comply. Also stress kindness and empathy. From these early lessons, respect for other people will grow.

Set Rules and Boundaries for Respect

Rules are essential reminders for kids to curb their impulses. Family rules could include no name-calling or bad language, listening to what others have to say, not using a sibling’s belongings without asking, and finding a respectful way to tell someone they’re annoying you. Set reasonable boundaries, and let children know what is expected of them. Be sure to give consistent consequences when rules are broken--or they won’t be meaningful. Similarly, compliment your child when she  or he follows a rule that you've set.

Practice Good Manners

Courtesy is the oil that makes everything run more smoothly. Remember the “magic words” please and thank you? You might want to also teach your child “may I,” “excuse me” and “I’m sorry.” These phrases are outward expressions of kindness that help kids function in the world and build relationships. Good table manners are also a form of respect for others who are sharing your meal. Make practicing table manners at home a fun experience rather than an angry or tense one.

Be a Role Model for Respect

Parents are the key role models for most of their children’s behaviors, including respect. Kids learn much more from their parents’ example than from anything else. How moms and dads treat each other helps define how our kids will behave with members of the opposite sex. Adults can also be negative role models, if they speak rudely to a waiter, curse at slow drivers, or treat their own parents disrespectfully. Think about what your kids are learning by watching you.

Mind the Media Messages

Disrespectful behavior seems to be widespread today on TV, in movies, in pop culture, and online. Putdowns, cursing, off-color jokes, and demeaning sexual or ethnic stereotypes are often portrayed as funny. It’s hard to protect kids from these negative examples of how to treat others. But you can heighten their awareness so they don’t absorb them unquestioningly. Watch TV with your child and comment on rude or intolerant characters, saying, "That man doesn’t respect his wife--that wouldn’t be unacceptable behavior in our house." Develop a standard of respect that transcends mixed messages they may be getting from pop culture .

Treat Elders with Respect

In some other cultures, the elderly have an honored role, but here it’s a different story. Rather than being seen as repositories of wisdom, older people are often seen as burdensome, inept, or at least uncool. Bring your child along when you spend time with an elderly relative or neighbor. Suggest things that older people can share with your child--a family recipe, a personal story about living through historical events, or an old photo album. Emphasize that the elderly deserve our respect because they’ve lived longer, worked hard, and have wisdom to impart.

Teach Kids How to Disagree Respectfully

One of the greatest challenges most of us face is how to deal respectfully with people with whom we disagree. This is something even adults have a hard time with. Some basic rules that you could teach your children (and put into practice in your own dealings): Don't judge people before you get to know them. Treat other people the way you want to be treated. Listen attentively before you jump in with your argument. And if you’re treated disrespectfully, tell the person, “I don’t like being talked to that way. Please use a polite tone of voice (or please wait for me to finish speaking) so we can have a discussion.”

Encourage Respect for Nature

Help kids  respect for the natural world by teaching them how to treat wild creatures, plants, and pets. If your child wants to pet a dog or cat, teach him or her to ask the owner whether it’s OK first. Make sure kids take care of their pets, remembering to give them enough food, water, and attention. When you’re out in nature, explain the concept of “leave no trace”--taking home any items they’ve brought in and leaving flowers and plants for others to enjoy.

Teach Respect for Surroundings

When kids toss their ice cream cups on the street or cover neighbors' houses with toilet paper on Halloween, they haven't learned the connection between respecting people and respecting their property. Start by teaching kids to be careful with their own and family members' belongings. Then extend that by getting involved with kids in neighborhood cleanups, flower-planting, and recycling. If they accidentally harm another's property, have them write a note and offer to help fix the problem.

2 Minute Speech On Family Values In English

Good morning everyone present here, today I am going to give a speech on family values. Living in India, we are all aware that the first question someone asks about you anytime you interact with them is about their family. Our culture and traditions hold the idea that you carry your family’s name and values with you wherever you go. In society and the world we live in, family genuinely provides us with an identity.

Although family values vary from family to family, they all contribute to a family’s viewpoint on life, perspective on their circumstances, and sense of identity by enabling family members to better comprehend their history. One of the values of the reason is so crucial to families is that they can give family members a sense of purpose and meaning, especially in times of difficulty and crisis. When people aren’t living in close accordance with their ideals, they may even experience a sense of hopelessness.

Importance of Family Values Speech 1

Warm Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen! Thank you for coming in large numbers and making this event a success.

Family values are the virtues of an individual that is valued and passed on from generation to generation. In our country India, everybody has high regard for families and family values and when trouble knocks the family members defend and protect each other. However, with changing times the definition of family values has also changed with more youngsters wanting to live separate from their parents. This aspect of family values is prevalent in western culture, and it looks like our country is also adapting such things.

Most individuals don’t think about family values until they need to teach their children a lesson in reaction to an unpleasant conduct. Family values, on the other hand, should not be disregarded. Thinking about your family values and imparting them to your children at a young age might educate your children how to behave when you are not around. What you do and say has an impact on your children. Encourage healthy family decisions and behavior by living a life that makes you proud of your family. Throughout life, important family values and ethical concepts will serve as guides.

For this speech on the importance of family values in an English article, we will explore different ways to present it and what can be conveyed. It can be a long speech on the importance of family values or a short speech on the importance of family values.

Long Speech on Importance of Family Values

This form of speech is useful for students in grades 8-12 who have to deliver a 5-minute long speech.

Good morning everyone, respected teachers, and my dear friends. I am Abc (mention your name) here to speak on the topic of the importance of family values. Living in India, we all know no matter wherever you are, whenever one interacts with you the first question one asks is about family. It is in our culture and tradition that it is believed that you carry your family name and values everywhere. Family truly gives us an identity in the society and the world we live in.

Whenever one achieves success in life and does a good deed, the first remark is he/she must be from a good family or he/she is so well brought up by their families. That is the reason the family values are very highly regarded and rightly so. Whether a child becomes a responsible adult or an irresponsible adult, depends on the values they grew up with.

Family values are the principles or standards of behavior that one considers useful and deserving of worth and that inform one’s judgment of what is important in life. Earlier, in India, families lived together. Every member of the family, grandparents, parents, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The children will adapt and learn not what you say but what you do. The children see the way the elders of the family behave with each other and learn what is important based on their actions. If a family behaves respectfully, with love and care for each other, then these values will be deemed important for everyone in the family. When in terms of a crisis or problem, it is upon the family to proceed with patience, dignity, and grace. And arguments or disagreements within the family should also be handled in a mature manner without humiliating and behaving condescendingly to anyone.

It is what one sees in a family, they emulate even outside the daily dynamics in other relationships. There is a family outside of blood relations as well, the ones we choose. Our friends who become family also teach and add a great deal of value to our lives. The teachers who teach us and make us realize our purpose in life also become our family and their taught values are truly irreplaceable.

Now even when joint family systems are no longer seen and more nuclear families are being created, the importance of teaching and practicing good values will always remain intact. Even in a family of four, if love, joy, and togetherness are valued then that will be passed on along generations.

We must remember that even if the world is against us, it is our family that will support us and lead us to new heights of understanding of ourselves. If we falter, the values we learned from our family must be taught a way to admit, apologize, and actually show changed behavior.

Family is something that will be bound to us always and we must respect that whether we live far or near. And one is never alone in the world because of family. I thank my family, friends, and teachers for accepting me, teaching me so many things, and allowing me to learn from my mistakes.

Short Speech on Importance of Family Values

This form of a short speech is helpful for students in grades 4-7 who can deliver a 3-minute speech based on the points covered here.

Good morning everyone, respected Principal, Teachers, and my dear friends. I am so happy for this opportunity to deliver a speech on the importance of family values. I feel happy to talk about such a relatable topic.

We all are an amalgamation of all the relationships in our life we share from our birth, childhood, and adult life. Anything that resonates with us, we try to be that. The most influential impact we have is from our family. My friends often praise me for my helpful nature. I would like to credit my parents for teaching me the importance of being helpful with examples.

All the good in me is because of my family. We are a close-knit small family, earlier we lived with our grandparents, because of my parents’ job we moved to the city a couple of years ago. My parents have always valued family above anything else in their lives, they learned this from their parents.

They have taught me the importance of being honest, trustworthy, patient, and taking personal responsibility.

I have learned to be courageous and persistent because I have seen my parents never giving up if any problem arises. I have seen them work with integrity and uncompromising ethical values that I respect a lot. I hope I can be like that when I grow up. We must learn from our parents and try to be better people who can add value to the world we live in through our acts of kindness and bravery. Let’s live with love and humility in the world just like we do with our families.

10 Line Speech on Importance of Family Values

This format of speech is helpful for students in grades 1-3 to understand the meaning in simple words.

Family is the most important aspect of everyone’s life, especially a child.

And children learn from what they see and experience more than what they hear.

A child who is brought up with love, care, compassion, respect, and understanding will inculcate such values.

These values become inherent and grow when they carry on with other relationships be it with siblings, cousins, and friends.

Earlier people lived in joint families set up now it is changing to nuclear families.

In joint families, everyone is always there for each other to help and support in case one needs help.

In nuclear families, mostly all are working and busy so they work and make efforts to be there for each other.

It is not the number of family members that matters, it is the environment and the surroundings one lives in that hold a greater value.

The environment a family provides must be a safe place where fairness, caring, responsibility, humility, and kindness are practised and appreciated.

When a family has strong core values they live in peace and harmony for many generations with such values.

What are family values?

Family values, also known as familial values, are traditional or cultural values that connect to the structure, function, roles, beliefs, attitudes, and goals of a family. Traditional or conservative beliefs that are considered to enhance the healthy functioning of the family and the strengthening of society’s fabric. The traditional family structure, gender norms, and child care are all values. While these roles within the family unit are fast shifting, it is critical to ensure that all of the family’s needs are met, whether they are met by the man, the woman, or both of them together as partners. There are several key family values that you may want to instill in your children. The values listed below are by no means fully comprehensive.

Why are family values important?

Individual family members, the entire family as a unit, and the society in which we live are all affected by family values. Most Families will share a shared set of values, such as a love of freedom and a belief in democracy, as citizens . Family values assist us in determining what is good and wrong. Values encompass not just our morality but also our roles, beliefs, and attitudes. Family values serve to establish male and female roles as well as family interactions. Family values play an important role in teaching your children what is right and wrong. To put it another way, having strong values can assist your children in achieving their goals. Adult children are more likely to make decisions that you will approve of. Younger members of the family will be better able to resist peer pressure and make wise decisions.

What does family values reflect?

Our family values reflect who we are as people and how we parent. Our children acquire life lessons when we explain and embody those ideals. They learn to express themselves, solve difficulties, learn from their mistakes, and acquire other talents and abilities that contribute to a happy life. Parents are also educated. Some parents have been persuaded that grades are the most crucial indicator of their child’s progress. While no one can deny that academic learning is essential for success in 21st-century jobs, parents can teach their children so much more via their family values.

How can family values be instilled?

To instill strong family values, you must first choose what values are essential to you and what you want to instill in your children. As a parenting team or with the entire nuclear family, write a family purpose statement. Then, wherever possible, utilise family activities and excellent parenting to reinforce those basic values. When your children accomplish something that supports the ideals you’re teaching them, for example, praise them. Recognize that your actions play a significant role in educating others through example. Make holiday and weekend rituals, as well as family routines, that promote the values you consider important. Spend time with your family and hold a family meeting if you need to talk or refocus on something. Having family rules in place allows them to know what to do and how to respond in challenging situations.

Which values must be instilled in kids?

It is very important to teach the significance of respect. Kids should know how to give respect to elders. Secondly, honesty is another value which is to be taught. As it is said, ”Honesty is the best policy.” Make sure your kid doesn’t lie. Empathy and compassion towards all living creatures is what makes a place better to live in. So, instill compassion in toddlers. Start feeding stray animals as this is one way of teaching compassion. Gratitude is another important aspect of life. It is important for everybody to be satisfied/ gratified to be happy. Your kid should be happy with what he has. Positive outlook towards life is another crucial value.

I was a ballerina. GRACEFUL! DELICATE! They had to go. My first husband, the heart surgeon. All day long coronaries, transplants. “Sorry about dinner, Deb, the Pope has a cold.”  Husband number two: the senator.

Barbara Bush defines family values: "being there'

  • ELLEN DEBENPORT

The Republican National Convention finally caught fire Wednesday night with a surprise appearance by President George Bush with his wife, their five children and 12 grandchildren beside him on the stage.

It was Family Values Night at the convention, as well as the night that Bush was formally nominated for a second term.

"Thank you, and we'll see y'all tomorrow," Bush hollered with a grin. He was greeted with thunderous cheers in return.

The lanky president strolled onto the platform just after Barbara Bush gave a gentle talk about the families of America.

The evening was an emotional roller-coaster that ranged from a fire-and-brimstone sermon by television evangelist Pat Robertson to a Florida woman's heart-rending plea for understanding for AIDS victims.

Marilyn Quayle explained why she left her law practice to become a fulltime political wife. And the Bushes' teenage grandson, George P. of Miami, described the president and his grandfather as "the greatest man I've ever known."

"Family values represent a great dividing line between the parties," said former Education Secretary William Bennett in his nominating speech for Vice President Dan Quayle.

"Let me be clear about one thing," he said in prepared remarks. "When we talk about traditional family values, we are not using code words. We are not seeking a political wedge issue. And we are not seeking to demean or belittle others. Rather, we are seeking to honor and to affirm what is best in us, what Lincoln called the "better angels of our nature.'

The Republicans are hoping their emphasis on family values not only will please the religious right but will also appeal to moderates, who make up a huge swing vote in this election. Polls after the first two days of the convention showed that Bush had not yet gained ground on Democrat Bill Clinton, which is unusual during the course of a convention.

When Florida's turn came in the roll call of states early today, its Republican senator introduced himself by saying, "Madame Secretary, i'm Senator Connie Mack from the great state of Florida, Bush country, the home of Major League Baseball's Florida Marlins and soon to be Tampa Bay Giants . . ." The state cast all 97 of its votes for Bush. Texas later put Bush over the 1,106 delegates needed for nomination.

Earlier, Mrs. Bush, in a red suit and her trademark beads, shushed the cheering crowd with a finger to her lips so she could talk about the array of families she and President Bush have met during his four years in office.

"I'd like to talk for a moment to parents who have sacrificed for their children," she said. Whether they work or have put their careers on hold, "you may wonder, as I did every now and then, am I really doing the right thing? Yes, you are.

"For where will our country find the leaders with integrity, courage, strength _ all the family values _ in 10, 20 or 30 years? The answer is that you are teaching them and raising them right now. So yes, from the bottom of my heart, I'm here to tell you that you are doing the right thing, and God bless you for it."

She never came close to saying the Republicans should keep their opinions about abortion and gays out of politics, as she said last week. There was not a whisper of controversy in a speech she had said would not be worth staying up to watch.

"To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there," she said simply. "No family is perfect and no family is without pain and suffering."

She praised her friend Marilyn Quayle, who had given a tough speech defending her decision to leave law and campaign for her husband. "For me, it was a reasonable decision. It wasn't caving in."

"I sometimes think," Mrs. Quayle said, "that the liberals are always so angry because they believed the grandiose promises of the liberation movements. They're disappointed because most women do not wish to be liberated from their essential natures as women. Most of us love being mothers or wives, which gives our lives a richness that few men or women get from professional accomplishments alone. Nor has it made for a better society to liberate men from their obligations as husbands or fathers."

Mrs. Quayle didn't have to mention Hillary Clinton for the point to be made. The Republicans have orchestrated their attacks this week on the wife of the Democratic nominee, who is, like Mrs. Quayle, a lawyer and mother. President and Mrs. Bush have both said they think Mrs. Clinton is fair game.

The Quayles are baby boomers like the Clintons, but "not everyone demonstrated, dropped out, took drugs, joined in the sexual revolution or dodged the draft," Mrs. Quayle said.

Her husband was in the Indiana National Guard during the Vietnam War. Bill Clinton, who opposed the war, was a student at Oxford University and managed to avoid the draft until a high lottery number saved him from Vietnam for good.

Clinton was rebuked even more harshly by Robertson, the evangelist who ran for president against Bush four years ago. He described Democrats as carriers of a plague.

"The vision of Bill Clinton is a liberal welfare state that dominates every facet of our lives, burdens free enterprise, redistributes wealth, raises taxes and weakens the family," he said.

Clinton, he noted correctly, would choose Supreme Court justices who support the right to abortion and would allow homosexuals in the military.

Republican delegates and others at the convention had some trouble describing family values in interviews this week.

"It's kind of like the old standard for pornography. It's difficult to define, but you know it when you see it," said Garland Boyette, 27, a Houston lawyer now living in Germany. "It's your traditional American values."

They talked about hard work, teaching children right from wrong, keeping fathers in the home.

"The Republican Party isn't saying a single mother is bad," said Chuck Knapp, a congressman's aide from Independence, Kan. "We're just saying a family of two parents is an ideal situation. We have high regard for a single mother who's suffering. The problem is with our welfare society. We reward the family that doesn't have a father."

Using data from the European Values Study and World Values Survey, the chart shows that a large majority of people worldwide declare family to be important in their lives. This share is above 80% in every country except six .

Only a small percentage of people say they find family “not very important” or “not important at all”.

California politics | watch: gov. gavin newsom defends progressive values in california state of the state speech.

a speech about family values

By Adam Beam

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom used his State of the State address on Tuesday to boost President Joe Biden ahead of Thursday’s pivotal presidential debate , comparing Donald Trump’s version of the Republican Party to the rise of fascism prior to World War II and offering Democrats’ ideals as “an antidote to the poisonous populism of the right.”

Nowhere in Newsom’s speech — which was prerecorded and posted online to his social media channels in a departure from decades of tradition — did he mention Trump or Biden by name. But he used some of Trump’s most incendiary statements to offer a dark contrast of the choice facing Americans in November, comparing it to the eve of World War II when “fascism spread its hate and destruction throughout Europe.”

“When they speak of immigrants poisoning American blood, and of mass deportations and detention camps, and of ‘vermin’ who want to destroy America, this is the language of destruction — of 1939,” Newsom said according to prepared remarks that were shared by his office.

Trump made those comments about immigrants “poisoning the blood of our country” during a campaign rally in Iowa last year, later saying he did not know that Adolf Hitler had once said something similar. Still, the comments have become a key talking point for the left as they paint Trump’s candidacy as a warning for a dark future.

The political tone of Newsom’s speech was not surprising given his role as one of the Biden campaign’s top surrogates, which have made him a target of Republicans who have repeatedly held up California as an example of Democrats’ mismanagement. They have pointed to the state’s $46.8 billion budget deficit, high tax rates, large homeless population and the proliferation of property crimes in its largest cities, which have been captured in clips that have gone viral on social media.

Much of Newsom’s speech was devoted to pushing back against that narrative, referring to “delusional California bashers” whose “success depends on our failure.” He noted California’s violent crime rate is about half of what it was at its peak in 1992. He said property crime in San Francisco has fallen as has the overall crime rate across the bay in Oakland — where Newsom recently deployed 120 California Highway Patrol officers.

“That’s because in California, we take public safety seriously — a problem to solve, not just to flog on cable news,” he said.

On homelessness, Newsom pointed to the more active role the state has taken under his administration, including spending billions of dollars to create programs that provided 15,300 units of housing and provided shelter for more than 71,000 people. But a state audit released earlier this year chided his administration for not keeping track of how effective the state’s homelessness spending — more than $24 billion over five years — has been.

Newsom defended his decision to sign a law raising the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 an hour, a raise that businesses have blamed for increasing costs for customers. And he boasted about California’s economy that, were it an independent country, would rank as the fifth largest in the world — saying California has added 63,000 new millionaires since 2019.

“Here is a simple question for Republicans: If California is a failed state, why are four of the seven most valuable companies in the world based here?” he said, referring to Apple, Nvidia, and the parent companies of Google and Facebook.

Newsom chose to deliver a speech for the mobile phone era, opting to upload a prerecorded video across his social media channels instead of delivering a formal speech before a packed house of state lawmakers.

The Democratic governor now in his second term has never been a big fan of formal speeches, given the difficulty his dyslexia gives him while reading from a teleprompter in live time. Last year, Newsom skipped the speech entirely, instead embarking on a statewide tour to announce a series of major policy proposals in a more informal setting that allowed for questions from reporters.

“While this pre-recorded speech fulfills the governor’s legal mandate, it does not in any real way fulfill his responsibility to Californians who deserve a safe, affordable and opportunity-filled future,” said California Republican state Sen. Kelly Seyarto. “California remains the country’s homeless capital, businesses are closing their doors, and crime continues to rise. The state of this state is simply not good under Newsom’s leadership and any claims to the contrary he makes in his speech will be patently false.”

“This is because in California, we take public safety seriously. On homelessness, Newsom pointed to the more active role the state has taken under his administration, including spending billions of dollars to create programs that provided 15,300 units of housing and provided shelter for more than 71,000 people. This is true freedom — to invent and make the world a better place.”

Newsom’s speech comes a few weeks after a statewide survey from the Public Policy Institute of California found 59% of likely voters believed California is headed in the wrong direction while 52% disapprove of the way Newsom is handling his job as governor. The survey was based on responses from 1,098 likely voters with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Republicans criticized Newsom for not giving a public speech, holding their own in-person rebuttal on the steps of the state Capitol about an hour after Newsom’s speech started on social media. James Gallagher, the Republican leader of the state Assembly, called Newsom “defensive” and “unhinged.”

“To sit here and talk about venture capitalists when the majority of Californians are struggling, to me, is tone deaf,” Gallagher said. “It was not a real addressing of the problems that Californians are facing.”

Newsom chose to deliver a speech for the smartphone era, opting to upload a prerecorded video across his social media channels instead of delivering a formal speech before a packed house of state lawmakers.

The Democratic governor, now in his second term, has never been a big fan of formal speeches, given the difficulty his dyslexia gives him while reading from a teleprompter in live time. Last year, Newsom skipped the speech entirely , instead embarking on a statewide tour to announce a series of major policy proposals in a more informal setting that allowed for questions from reporters.

California’s Constitution requires the governor to update the Legislature every year “on the condition of the state.” Prior to World War II, California governors would do this by sending a letter to the Legislature. That changed with Gov. Earl Warren — the future chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court — who decided to give a formal speech to the Legislature.
