April 2024 marks one year since fighting broke out between rival factions of Sudan’s security force, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), engulfing Sudan in conflict. The conflict has directly killed at least 14,700 people and injured almost 30,000 more. Due to extensive fighting, at least one-third of the population is displaced - the majority are women and children. Nearly half the population of 25 million people require humanitarian assistance. Women and girls have been facing escalating protection threats and reduced access to basic services, such as essential healthcare, in conflict zones in Sudan since the start of the conflict on 15 April 2023.

UN Women has just concluded a vocational needs assessment for Al Jazeera and Al Gadaref States. The overall objective of the need assessment was to establish training needs to inform the design of vocational training programmes that are compatible with the local market. The study made recommendations for potential areas for training and also recommended institutions capable of providing the identified areas for training.

Against this background, UN Women wishes to identify a Training Coordinator, to support in coordinating vocational training activities in two states (Gedarif and Al Jazeera) targeting women, young women IDPs, young men, and vulnerable women in the host community, including returnees. The consultant will work under the overall guidance of the Humanitarian Specialist and direct supervision of the information management specialist throughout the contract period. The training will initially be rolled out in Gedarif state in June and July, and in Al Jazeera state from July to August 2024.

The consultant shall submit a workplan with activities, deliverables, and timelines to be reviewed and approved by the UN Women task manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objectives and scope of works:

The specific tasks of the Training Coordinator are:

  • Working together with the UN Women Sudan Country Office (UNW Sudan CO).
  • Support the CO in placing the call for application, coordinating and identification of trainees, working together with the identified institution.
  • Oversee the finalization of the trainee list disaggregated by gender, age, type of course, and name of institution offering the course.
  • Support the Country Office in monitoring the roll-out of training activities. 
  • Support the CO in disseminating relevant information to trainees, especially on relevant/useful courses considering the Sudan's needs now and in the future. 
  • In partnership with selected training institutions, ensure the curriculum acceptance by all the trainees.  
  • Engage in promotion and publicity activities to raise awareness of the ongoing programme and its benefits to targeted groups.
  • Working closely with the cooperatives consultant, ensure trainees are linked to relevant cooperatives based on their areas of trade.
  • Participate in monitoring the implementation of the technical and vocational education and training activities and be part of the evaluation team.
  • Prepare Monthly, Reports and submit them in good time to the task focal point.
  • Provide an alternative or backup plan in case the safety/security situation is changed.
  • Submit the final report and success story of training along with good quality pictures/video footage.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor related to this task.

Financial Arrangements

Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of a deliverable or as agreed between the consultant and UN Women. Payment will be made for the days worked according to the approved daily rate.

Applications can be submitted online till May 25, 2024 for admission to the Higher Secondary Programmes and Higher Secondary (Vocational) Programs in Kerala under the Directorate of General Education, Kerala.

The Higher Secondary Course comes under the Higher Secondary Wing and Higher Secondary (Vocational) Course, under the VHSE Wing of the Directorate of General Education.

Those taking admission to the Higher Secondary Programmes have to study 6 subjects. All students have to study English and an Additional language. The other 4 subjects can be decided from among the 45 combinations specified in the Prospectus available at https://hscap.kerala.gov.in/ .

Of this, 9 combinations are in the Science stream, 32 in the Humanities stream and 4 in the Commerce stream. The details of schools, and the combinations available at each institution is also given in the website. The procedure for submission of application and other details are available at https://www.hscap.kerala.gov.in/ .

For the Higher Secondary (Vocational) Course, students have to study 6 subjects of which English and Entrepreneurship Development are compulsory for all students. The remaining 4 subjects will include a Skill/vocational subject and 3 Non-vocational subjects.

The combinations of the 4 subjects have been classified into 4 groups with the following non-vocational subjects: Group A - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics; Group B - Physics, Chemistry, Biology; Group C- History, Geography, Economics and Group D- Accountancy, Business Studies, Management. There are 20 Skill course options available in Group A, 22 in Group B, 1 in Group C and 5 in Group D from which a student has to study one. Details are given in the Prospectus at https://www.vhscap.kerala.gov.in/

The details of schools, and the combinations available at each institution, for Higher Secondary (Vocational) is also given in the website. The procedure for submission of application and other details are available at https://www.hscap.kerala.gov.in/ .

Applications can be submitted online at the respective websites latest by 25 th May 2024. The procedure for submission of application is given in the Prospectus/Website. Applicants can choose choices of institution- subject combinations as per their priority while submitting applications.

Trial allotment will be published for both streams on 29 th May 2024.

First allotment will be announced on June 5, 2024. The activities after the first allotment are given in the Prospectus.

Classes will begin on June 24, 2024.

Required documents for tertiary vocational education

If you upload all the required documents when you apply, we can start processing your application earlier and you will receive our decision faster.

Documentation of completed education

We need the documents in the original language as well as translations. Please make sure you upload all pages of your documents.

In some cases, we may ask for additional information, for example original documents, identity documents and original translations. Any attempt to obtain recognition with fraudulent documents will be reported to the police.

We are unable to process your application if you do not send in the required documentation.

Documents (for instance diplomas, craft or journeyman’s certificates, transcript of grades and proof of name change) issued in a different language than English or one of the Nordic languages, must be translated into Norwegian or English.

  • Translations done by a government authorised translator. You can find authorised translators in Norway through Translatørportalen, website of the Association of Government Authorized Translators in Norway.
  • Translations done by other professional translators in Norway or abroad, tolketjenesten, embassies, etc. You can find translators operating in Norway by searching the The Brønnøysund Register Service.
  • Documents issued in English by the university at which you studied or received your degree, or the responsible authority that issued your craft or journeyman’s certificate.
  • Documents issued in Icelandic and Finnish. However, we do recommend that you have them translated into Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. This is to ensure faster processing of your application. In some cases, your case officer will require a translation of your Icelandic or Finnish documents.

We do not require that translated documents have an apostille.

The name of the translator must be apparent on the translation. If the submitted translations are not good enough, we reserve the right to ask for new translations.

We do not accept translations done by yourself or other private persons.

If the name on your educational documents does not match your current name, you need to provide us with a proof of name change.

Valid proof of name change can be:

  • Marriage certificate (Norwegian or foreign) stating both your old and your new name.
  • Divorce certificate (Norwegian or foreign) stating both your old and your new name.
  • Proof of name change from the public authorities in the country where you changed your name.
  • Proof of name change from the National Population Register.

You must provide us with translation if the original document is issued in a language other than Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, Finnish, or English.

If you do not have an electronic ID (difi.no) , you can apply as a self-registered user. Self-registered users must attach a copy of their valid identity document:

  • Submit the page that shows your name, date of birth and photo. If this information spans several pages, you need to submit all pages that contain your name, date of birth and photo.

Valid identity documents:

  • Valid international passport (including emergency passport)
  • Family passport
  • National identity card (lovdata.no) issued by an EEA or EFTA country
  • Norwegian refugee travel document
  • Norwegian immigrant’s passport
  • Scan your documents, and make sure they are legible, before you upload them in the application.
  • If a document has more than one page, please scan them together and upload them in one file. A document can for instance be a diploma, transcript of grades, Diploma Supplement, ID, proof of name change, translations or an employment contract.
  • The required format is PDF.
  • Do not upload compressed files (such as ZIP or RAR files).
  • If there is information on the reverse side of a document, please scan and upload both sides.
  • If your document is in colour, please scan it in colour.
  • Name the documents with a short and relevant title, like for instance transcript of grades, translation diploma, training in school, practical training, proof of name change.
  • Please be aware that once you have submitted your application, you cannot delete any documents.

Submission of false or misleading information will be reported to the police.

Diploma confirming completed tertiary vocational education

A document confirming completion of your tertiary vocational education. This may be a certificate or a diploma.

Transcripts of grades

Transcripts of grades or report card from your tertiary vocational education. By transcript of grades/report card we mean a list/overview of subjects/grades for all the years of your tertiary vocational education.

Upper secondary education

The final certificate from upper secondary school/high school. Alternatively, the final diploma or certificate form the education that gave you access to tertiary vocational education.

Training.gov.au is the national register of vocational education and training (VET)

Training.gov.au is changing .

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) will soon be rolling out changes to enhance Training.gov.au (TGA). The new TGA is more intuitive and accessible, and will deliver: 

  • improved usability,
  • a streamlined interface,
  • more robust search features, and 
  • enhanced reporting functions.

The department has been engaging with the sector to help stakeholders prepare for the update  and make the most of the enhanced TGA. The update is planned for a late 2024 release.

What is training.gov.au?

Training.gov.au is the national register of VET, as required by s 216 of the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 . Information held on the national register includes:

  • Nationally recognised training   (NRT) : training packages, qualifications, units of competency, skill sets and accredited courses.
  • Registered training organisations (RTOs)  that are approved to deliver nationally recognised training.

The national register is intended for VET sector professionals, including: RTOs, trainers and assessors, regulators, training package developers, researchers, and policy makers.
