How to watch Apple's iPhone 14 launch event

William Gallagher's Avatar

The September 7 Apple event will be held at 10:00 a.m. PT, and streamed live on every Apple platform. It's due to feature the launch of both the iPhone 14 range, and the Apple Watch Series 8 , and perhaps more .

Here's how to watch the event live, after it wraps up, and how to follow along if you can't watch.

The simplest way to watch the iPhone 14 launch across your devices is through Apple's official YouTube stream , which became available with a holding image on August 24.

You can watch the launch over YouTube on any device that supports the video platform. That includes Macs, PCs, smartphones tablets, game consoles, and Androids devices.

In theory, you can even watch YouTube on your Apple Watch, though it may not be the greatest experience.

Apple posted its holding image early so that you can have YouTube notify you when the event is about to start. Go to the holding page, then click on Notify .

That reminder, plus the ubiquity of YouTube across so many devices, means that this is perhaps the most convenient way to watch the event. Note, though, that sometimes the YouTube stream will lag behind other options.

iphone 14 presentation video

Apple's website

Those other options include watching the live stream directly on Apple's own website . Note that once again, the stream will solely be available on the US site.

All international Apple sites take you back there instead of hosting it themselves as they used to.

This is also the place to go after the event when you want to see it with sign language. As this is again a prerecorded video instead of a live presentation, it's possible that Apple will simultaneously stream an ASL version, but it will definitely make one available later.

However, once the live stream has been shown on YouTube, it will be possible to watch it again there, too. And there are advantages.

Watching after the event on YouTube, the timeline at the bottom of the screen is divided into chapters. You can scroll across the video and stop at the section you want.

Plus if you are watching on YouTube on Safari on a Mac, you can use the standard video editor keyboard shortcuts J, K, and L. Respectively, these skip back the video 10 seconds, pauses it entirely, or skips forward 10 seconds.

The Apple Developer app

In addition to livestreams on YouTube and the Apple site, you'll also be able to view the keynote within the Apple Developer app .

Even if you're not an App Store developer, you'll be able to download the app and use it to view the stream.

It's still half ridiculous how Apple hides its events on its own Apple TV app, and half good that they don't push it down our throats. Nonetheless, where there used to be a handy Apple Events app, now you just have to wait for the right moment.

When the event is about to start, the Apple TV app will promote it. Afterwards, you may have to search — and Apple may decide to categorize the event video as a movie.

Still, just as YouTube lets you watch across multiple devices, so does Apple TV. Increasingly, you can get Apple TV on games consoles, smart TVs, and other devices, which means you can watch this event anywhere.

So really it's a question of turning to the most convenient screen you've got. But if you can't do that, if you're not able to watch the stream live, you can still keep up to date with what's happening right here on AppleInsider .

iPhone 14: All you need to know about Apple's 'Far Out' presentation

Apple just showcased the new iPhone 14 and its variants at the Apple "Far Out" event on Wednesday (7 September). Besides showing off the new iPhones, there were also reveals of the new Apple watches and new AirPods Pro wireless earbuds.

Apple also revealed the newly-refreshed Apple Watch SE, the Apple Watch Series 8, and the mother of all Apple watches, the Apple Watch Ultra. It looks like the tech giant is taking the fight to the likes of the Garmin Fenix, with the price and features available in the Watch Ultra.

The new AirPods Pro features a slimmer case and finally supports touch controls.

What we expect from Apple’s iPhone 14 event

Iphone 14, apple watch series 8, new airpods pro and maybe, just maybe, an ar/vr headset preview (but probably not).

iphone 14 presentation video

Don’t you hate it when they give everything away in the headline? So, a belated spoiler warning that, indeed, the iPhone 14 is almost certainly going to be the big headline announcement at Apple’s September event. A few other things seem close to certain, as well, including the Apple Watch Series 8.

As ever, there may be one or two wildcards at the event. It will be interesting to see precisely how much Apple ends up announcing next week. The company was more than happy to spread announcements across events, in the two+ years when everything suddenly went online. The simple truth is it’s a lot easier to ask people to drop everything to cover your event when it involves sitting in front of a computer instead of flying across the U.S. This one, on the other hand, is most likely going to be worth the flight (I mean, I hope — no refunds on the tickets).

Go for launch. Tune in for a special #AppleEvent on September 7 at 10 a.m. PT.  Tap the ❀ and we’ll send you a reminder on event day. pic.twitter.com/T9o7qJt72E — Apple (@Apple) August 24, 2022

The company sent out invites earlier this month, sporting a galaxy formed into the Apple logo and the words “Far Out.” A subsequent animation shows the constellation spinning around to reveal a heart. There’s often some meaning hidden in the invite art, and speculation has been rampant in the intervening week.

My first thought was something to do with the company’s rumored AR/VR headset. Others have suggested that this might have something to do with the long-rumored satcom technology for Apple devices, which didn’t make it in time for last year’s event. Others still believe it might be a reference to the improved imaging on the new iPhones.

So, let’s start with the iPhone 14 . Hard to believe, but the device had its 15th birthday this June. So, what does Apple have planned for the crystal anniversary? Rumor has it that the high-end devices are reportedly doing the heavy lifting this time out (expect some of these upgrades to trickle down to the lower cost models in the coming year or two).

The most surprising bit of news this time around may be the long-awaited loss of the notch on the Pro and Pro Max. There’s some debate over the exact configuration, but a hole punch (as we’ve seen on a number of Android handsets over the years) is likely to arrive in its place, perhaps coupled with a secondary “pill” design. So you’re getting more real estate, but compromising with a pair of camera cutouts.

iphone 14 presentation video

Another longstanding Android feature — the always-on display — is rumored for the more premium models. The main camera is said to be getting a major bump, up to a 48-megapixel sensor. That’s for the wide-angle, with is paired with a couple of 12-megapixel cameras (telephoto and ultrawide).

The chip is also getting updated to the more powerful A16 — again, that may well be a premium-only upgrade here. We know that a move to USB-C is inevitable, given recent legislation in the EU that will require device makers to embrace that universal standard. Though despite the fact that similar laws have been floated for a number of locales — including the U.S. and India — the iPhone 14 is expected to be the Lightning Port’s last stand for the line. Speaking of last stands, the iPhone Mini may be gone from the line altogether. That’s a big blow for fans of the small phone out there — a number of whom are currently employed by TechCrunch. So expect a
spirited post or two on these pages, should that come to pass. The new line is expected to come in two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch models, with a standard and Pro version of each.

iphone 14 presentation video

The Apple Watch Series 8 is the other big expected headline here. The latest version of Apple’s market-dominating smartwatch is expected in three flavors, per rumors. There’s the SE (getting its first big update sine 2020), which will maintain the same footprint as the Series 7, along with a larger Series 8 and a new outdoor/sports model, designed to take on the Garmins of the world.

Along with upping the screen size, all three devices may also get upgraded to the new S8 chip. Along with software improvements, the system may finally get a new low-power mode, which would go a ways toward improving battery life — still the single largest problem with the Apple Watch, compared to the rest of the field.

AirPods Pro

Perhaps the most overdue item in the list: the AirPods Pro . The standard AirPods have gotten a few updates, but the higher-end models haven’t seen one since they were introduced way back in 2019. Three years is forever in the earbud world, and the competition has had plenty of time to catch up and even — in a few cases — pass Apple here.

Lossless audio is rumored. There may be a redesign, as well, that could remove the iconic clicking stem. That would present a fairly dramatic change to the device’s controls. Another interesting potential item is the addition of sound for the case, which can chime to work better with the Find My feature.

iphone 14 presentation video

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA – April 20, 2021: Apple’s Raja Bose introduces the new iPad Pro, as seen in this still image from the keynote video of a special event at Apple Park. Photo Credit: Apple Inc.

Meanwhile, iPads  may appear, including an M2 iPad Pro model, but the consensus appears to be that the company will throw one more final event ahead of the holidays, where we’ll also get new Macs sporting the latest chips, incluing the long-awaited — and much redesigned — return of the Mac Pro. I wouldn’t rule out either one entirely for this event, but they’re less certain than the above.

The AR/VR headset is the true wildcard in all of this. Rumors have persisted for some time, and have only gotten hotter as the company has applied for trademarks including, “Reality One,” “Reality Pro” and “Reality Processor.” It’s also already said to have shown off a version of the headset to shareholders. At best, a preview could arrive, in order to entice developers to start building for the product.

homepod mini colors

A couple of odds and ends:

  • The return of the HomePod ? We’re talking something potentially similar to the original, full-size model and, perhaps a product with a display, Ă  la the Nest Hub or Echo Show. Apple really needs a proper hub for HomeOS.
  • A new Apple TV.
  • Release dates for iOS 16 and watchOS 9 seem likely. We know we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the new iPadOS . And macOS Ventura could seemingly arrive during this event, but a safer bet is the aforementioned unannounced October event.

As ever, we’ll be there, bringing you the news as it breaks .

The Top Tips: How to use iphone 14 for video production

Spread the Love by Sharing Our Articles

Table of contents.

The iPhone 14 is a powerful device that can be used to capture high-quality video. Here are some tips and tricks for getting the most out of your iPhone 14 when shooting a video.

Tips on how to use iPhone 14 for video production

  • Use the 4K resolution setting. The iPhone 14 has a 4K resolution setting that allows you to capture video at a much higher resolution than 1080p. This will give you more detail and clarity in your videos and is especially useful for capturing landscapes or other wide-angle shots. To access the 4K resolution setting, go to Settings > Camera > Record Video and select 4K at 60 fps.
  • Use the True Tone flash . The iPhone 14’s True Tone flash automatically adjusts the color and intensity of the flash to match the ambient light in the scene. This can help to create a more natural-looking video and can be especially useful in low-light situations. To use the True Tone flash, go to Settings > Camera > Flash and select Auto.
  • Use the built-in stabilizer. The iPhone 14 has a built-in stabilizer that helps to keep your videos steady and smooth. This is particularly useful for shooting video while walking or moving around. To use the stabilizer, go to Settings > Camera > Record Video and select the “Cinematic video stabilization” option.
  • Use the zoom feature. The iPhone 14’s camera allows you to zoom in and out while recording video. This can be useful for getting a better shot of a specific subject in your video. To use the zoom feature, simply swipe up or down on the screen while recording.
  • Experiment with different filters and effects. The iPhone 14’s camera app offers a variety of filters and effects that can be used to enhance your videos. Some popular options include black and white, sepia, and vignette filters. To access these filters and effects, tap on the three circles in the upper right corner of the Camera app.
  • Use the slow-motion feature. The iPhone 14’s slow-motion feature allows you to capture video at a slower frame rate, which can be used to create a more dramatic or suspenseful effect. To use the slow-motion feature, go to Settings > Camera > Record Video and select the “1080p HD at 120 fps” or “720p HD at 240 fps” option.
  • Use a tripod. A tripod can be very helpful when shooting video with the iPhone 14. It helps to keep the camera steady and allows you to take longer, more steady shots. There are many different types of tripods available, so be sure to choose one that is compatible with your iPhone 14.
  • Edit your videos. Once you’ve captured your video, you can use the iPhone 14’s built-in editing tools to trim, cut, and adjust the color and brightness of your video. This can be done by using the Photos app.

By following these tips, you can get the most out of your iPhone 14 when shooting video. Remember to have fun and experiment with different settings and techniques to find the perfect look for your videos. On top of how to use iPhone 14 for video production

iPhone 14 concept shows insane sliding design

An iPhone 14 with a slide-out display? This is fantasy.

iPhone 14 concept.

We already have a fairly good idea of what the iPhone 14 will look like when it finally ships next year. And other than the death of the notch for the Pro model , we’re not expecting anything dramatically different from the next Apple phone.

But that doesn’t stop people dreaming, and on the wackier end of the spectrum is this sliding design from ConceptsiPhone , which you can file under “cool, but enormously impractical.”

As you can see, this concept imagines a world where the iPhone gets an expanded screen by physically sliding a top panel out to reveal a second one underneath. Only this one only goes part of the way out, like 2010’s Nokia C6-00 , rather than expanding to be a full-size second screen like the newly released Microsoft Surface Duo 2 .

In the video, the iPhone 14 is shown revealing news headlines, displaying the settings menu and offering a much larger landscape keyboard. It’s all very flashy, but ultimately a bit pointless — an extra panel just for the sake of it.

The worst of all worlds

I’m reminded of that Jurassic Park line : “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” Because if this were Apple’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 , people would rightly ask if the company’s designers had taken leave of their senses.

After all, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is desirable because it combines a phone and small tablet in one. This iPhone concept provides, at best, 1.5 phones — and the 0.5 part looks like a pain to use, too.

Of the purposes demonstrated, only the larger keyboard is of any practical use other than showing off. And even then, you’d be better served with a physical BlackBerry style keyboard, rather than another touchscreen.

But there’s a reason we don’t see many of those nowadays. Samsung used to offer a physical keyboard case for its Galaxy S phones , but stopped selling them with the Galaxy S8 , presumably because they weren’t popular enough.

Given the main USP is straight out of Cloud Cuckoo Land, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the video chooses to double down with “Air Charge Technology”, where a plug transmits power over the air. That’s theoretically possible , but enormously wasteful — which is ironic, given the Apple News Plus headline on the front of the phone render talks about 85% of the world being impacted by climate change.

An iPhone 14 concept

Still: it’s nice to see Touch ID back, and no notch in sight.

While this design looks thoroughly unlikely, it’s widely regarded as a matter of time before Apple treats us to an iPhone Flip . But as for timelines, we’re looking at 2023 at the earliest, according to Ming-Chi Kuo . When it does finally arrive, though, you can bet Apple will have come up with something a lot more practical than this particular concept.

How to convert google slides to a video or gif.

Share your Google Slides with ease with these quick tips.

Quick Links

Convert using powerpoint, capture with your screen recording tool, use a google slides add-on.

While it's easy to share Google Slides using a link or publishing it to the web , you may want a single non-editable file that you can share privately. By converting the slideshow to a video or GIF, your visitors can watch it as you intended. Here are three methods to try.

Microsoft PowerPoint offers both video and GIF exporting . So, if you have PowerPoint, you can open the Google Slides presentation in it and create the video or GIF from there.

Related: How to Convert Google Slides to PowerPoint

Open your Google Slides presentation and go to File > Download. Select "Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx)" in the pop-out menu.

Head to your downloads folder and click or double-click the file to open it in PowerPoint.

Go to File > Export. Then, choose "Create a Video" or "Create an Animated GIF."

If you pick a video, you can then use the drop-down boxes to choose the quality and whether you want to include recorded timings and narrations. You can also set the duration per slide. Click "Create Video."

If you pick a GIF, you can choose the quality, make the background transparent, set the duration per slide, and include only specific slides if you like. Click "Create GIF."

For both video and GIF, you'll then be prompted to choose a location, optionally change the name, and click "Export" when you finish. Then, grab your video or GIF and share it where you please.

If you have a screen recording tool, such as Game Bar on Windows , the Screenshot Utility on Mac , or a third-party application, you can capture your slideshow as it plays. Then, save the video file to share or turn it into a GIF using an online tool.

Related: How to Screen Record on Your Mac

Get your screen recording tool ready and select the Slideshow drop-down box at the top of Google Slides and pick "Start From beginning."

To ensure you don't see your mouse cursor in the recording when advancing through the slides, you can set it to automatically play.

When the presentation appears in full-screen mode, click the three dots on the right of the floating toolbar, move to Auto-Play, and choose the time per slide.

Then, start capturing with your screen recording tool and stop when the slideshow finishes. You can then edit or share your video.

Additionally, you can use a file converter to obtain a different video file format or turn the video into a GIF. You can use a few free online tools including Cloud Convert , Convertio , or Zamzar .

One other way to convert Google Slides to a video or GIF is with an add-on. There are a few Google Slides add-ons that you can try if you search the Google Workspace Marketplace.

One that works well and allows you to create a video or a GIF for up to five slides for free is Slides to Video .

Related: Everything You Need to Know About Google Chrome's Profile Switcher

Slides to Video works using Google Chrome with the same Google account as Google Slides. If you use a different browser, there are other add-ons such as Video and GIF From Slides and Creator Studio that each offer a free trial.

Once you install the add-on, open your presentation and go to Add-Ons in the menu. Move your cursor to Slides to Video and pick "Create Video" in the pop-out menu.

When the sidebar opens, you can choose a duration per slide or a default for all slides at the top. Then, use the Choose Your Export Type drop-down box to pick "MP4" or "GIF." Click "Create Video."

You'll see the progress as your video or GIF is created. When complete, you'll receive an email to your Gmail account and will also see a link in the sidebar to download the file.

Until Google Slides provides the export option to create a video or GIF, these workarounds can help you get the job done.

Deadline announced for Canadians to cash in on $14.4M iPhone settlement

Latest Videos

A deadline has been announced for Canadian iPhone users hoping to cash in on an Apple class-action lawsuit settlement.

A BC Supreme Court judge approved the $14.4 million settlement in March .

The class action was launched in 2018 against Apple Inc. and Apple Canada, claiming there were performance mitigation features of Apple's iOS software (versions 10.2.1, 10.3, 11 and/or 11.2 for iPhones) that caused defects, leading the iPhones to "prematurely age, degrade, or shut down unexpectedly."

The software updates also caused defects to the iPhone batteries, and the ordeal became known as "batterygate."

Apple denied the allegations in the class action, and the settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing or fault on its behalf. The tech giant had previously agreed to pay between $11,137,500 and $14,427,500 collectively to impacted iPhone users in Canada.

Eligible Canadians could receive between $17.50 and $150, depending on how many people apply for the settlement.

Customers — except those in Quebec — who owned or operated an Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7, or 7 Plus smartphone device with iOS 10.2.1 or later (for iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, or SE), and/or iOS 11.2 or later (for iPhone 7 or 7 Plus), installed or downloaded before December 21, 2017, may be eligible for payment from the class action.

According to the class action's website, the deadline to submit a claim is September 2, 2024.

The claim form can be filled out online here . The claim form requires class members to provide their name, mailing address, and iPhone serial number.

The deadline to opt out of the class action has passed. More information about the class action is available on the Canadian iPhone Management Class Action website .
