Republic Day 2024 Speech in English: 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

The annual celebration of Republic Day, which falls on January 26th, is a major celebration in India. It marks the day when our nation adopted its Constitution, a significant milestone in our history.

The journey towards the adoption of the Constitution began soon after India gained independence on August 15, 1947. A committee was established, and on August 29, 1947, a Constituent Assembly was convened with the task of writing a new Constitution for the country. B.R. Ambedkar was appointed as the leader of this group, and over the course of two years, 11 months, and 18 days, the Constitution was drafted.

On January 26, 1950, the Constitution was officially proclaimed. This day holds a special significance as it is also the day when the proclamation of Poorna Swaraj was made in 1930 and Jawaharlal Nehru was elected as the leader of the Indian National Congress.

While Independence Day is celebrated on August 15, the Indian National Congress had already celebrated it on the same day in 1930, before India officially gained independence in 1947. Therefore, August 15th is observed as Independence Day, and January 26th is celebrated as Republic Day.

During Republic Day celebrations, patriotism and love for our nation are at the forefront. The main celebration takes place in the capital, New Delhi, with a grand parade and the President of India hoisting the national flag and giving a speech. People across the country participate in cultural programs and patriotic events to celebrate this day.

As we celebrate the 73rd Republic Day of our great nation, let us remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the contributions of the Constitution-makers, and pledge to uphold the values and principles of our Constitution.

Republic Day, celebrated annually on January 26th, is a day of great national pride and celebration in India. It marks the day when our nation officially adopted a democratic republic government and declared its independence. On January 26, 1950, India became an independent, secular, socialist, and democratic republic, almost three years after gaining independence from British rule.

The origins of Republic Day can be traced back to August 15, 1947, when India gained independence from British rule. However, at that time, the nation did not have a formal constitution in place to govern the country properly. To address this, a constitutional drafting committee was established on August 28, 1947, with B.R. Ambedkar as its head. The committee, after 166 days of extensive deliberation, presented its final proposal to the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1947.

One of the main objectives of the drafting committee was to ensure universal protections for all citizens, regardless of their faith, culture, caste, sex, or creed. The Constitution, which was finally adopted on January 26th, 1950, struck a delicate balance between the various interests and aspirations of the people.

On this day, Rajendra Prasad was inaugurated as India's first President, and the first session of the Indian Parliament was held. Republic Day not only marks the end of British rule but also the establishment of the Indian Republic.

Celebrations

The celebrations on Republic Day are a true reflection of the unity and diversity of our nation. The main event takes place in the capital city of New Delhi, with a grand parade showcasing the military might of the country and the richness of our cultural heritage. The President of India hoists the national flag, and the military responds with a 21-gun salute and a performance of the national anthem.

Many schools across the country also participate in these celebrations by organizing marches and cultural programs, which serve as a source of inspiration and pride for the citizens. It's a day when people put aside their differences and come together to celebrate the spirit of unity and nationalism. The participation of both young and adults in these celebrations, from the colourful parades to the patriotic performances, is truly inspiring and makes one feel proud to be a citizen of this great nation. On this Republic Day, let us pledge to uphold the values and principles of our Constitution, and work towards building a stronger and more inclusive nation for all.

How Students Can Contribute

As a student of this nation, there are several ways to uphold the values and principles of Republic Day:

Learn about the history and significance of the day: Understand the importance of the adoption of the Constitution and the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters.

Republic Day Short Speech Sample

Greetings to everyone in attendance on this auspicious day. We are all gathered here to commemorate our nation's 72nd Republic Day today. It is my duty and honor to speak on republic day. Every year on January 26, India celebrates Republic Day, which is special in Indian history. Every year, we celebrate the national event with great joy, happiness, and pride in order to make it memorable.

As we all know, the Indian constitution took effect on January 26, 1950, and ever since, the Indian people have celebrated that day as our nation's Republic Day. Although India gained independence on August 15, 1947, there was no national constitution at the time. But after much deliberation and thought, a committee led by Dr BR Ambedkar presented a draught of the Indian constitution, which was adopted on November 26, 1949, and took effect on January 26, 1950.

I just want to share a few interesting facts about the Indian constitution quickly. Do you know that the Indian Constitution, which has 444 articles divided into 22 parts, 12 schedules, 118 amendments, and 146,385 words in its English-language version, is the longest written constitution of any sovereign state in the world? The Assembly received a draught constitution from the committee in November 1947, but it took more than two months to receive the finishing touches amid discussions and amendments. The process was finally finished on November 26, 1949, when the Constitution was approved by the Constituent Assembly. Prem Behari Narain Raizda was the calligrapher who created the work in the book. It was published by Dehra Dun, photolithographed at the Survey of India Offices, and illuminated by Nandalal Bose and other artists. It is still kept in helium-filled cases in the parliament building's library. Additionally, the Indian Constitution declares nine fundamental rights to be everyone's fundamental human rights.

Respected Principal, Teachers, and all my dear friends.

I'm here in front of you right now to speak on Republic Day. I'd like to wish everyone in attendance a happy republic day before continuing. When my class teacher informed me a few days ago that you have been chosen to give a speech on January 26th, I was absolutely astonished. I have never given a speech before in my school career, so I am both excited and a little nervous.

As you are all aware, we are gathered here today to celebrate Republic Day, also known as "Gantantra Divas," and as you are also aware, our complete constitution was ratified on this day in 1950. However, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who is well-known as the father of the Indian Constitution and one of the most influential figures in modern India at the time, presided over its adoption on November 26, 1949.

It should go without saying that our country's transformation into a republic nation was made possible by the efforts of all of our leaders at the time. The happiness of celebrating this day is completely incomprehensible. I feel incredibly proud to talk about our leaders, whose unwavering efforts laid the groundwork for our Republic Country. the individuals who fought against all odds to enact our nation's own constitution. The celebration of today serves as a reminder that we appreciate their work and will never forget it. On this special day, I also want to honor the courageous soldiers who have over the years defended our Republic Country against various threats.

As we start the celebration of this day, our hearts are overflowing with patriotism and pure love for our country. I just hope that in the years to come, this love for our country will only grow. We all continue to make contributions to our country's improvement and work together to address all of its issues. I just want to say that I am incredibly proud to be a citizen of our nation to wrap up my speech. I hope that everyone in our country continues to abide by the rules set forth in our constitution and preserves the integrity of this republican nation. Thank you!

Republic Day Long Speech Sample

Good Morning, on the auspicious occasion of Indian Republic Day, we have gathered here. India is commemorating its 74th Republic Day this year. I feel a great sense of pride and gratitude for everything our country has accomplished as we come together to celebrate the Republic Day of our country. On this day, we honour the struggles and sacrifices made by the people who fought for our country's independence and sovereignty.

The Indian Constitution, which took effect on this day in 1950, is evidence of the democratic, justice, libertarian, and egalitarian principles that have governed our country since its inception. It provides a framework for the government's transparent and accountable operation and ensures that certain fundamental rights are guaranteed to all of its citizens.

India has been hosting special guests every year as part of celebrations, including the head of state or the governments of other nations for the republic day celebration in the nation's capital. Since 1950, this has been a tradition for the celebration. For instance, on January 26, 2015, former US President Barack Obama attended Republic Day as a special guest. And for the 74th Republic Day celebration, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be the special guest.

The President delivers a speech on Republic Day at 8 a.m., and then the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Rajpath in the nation's capital is followed by a parade. The Republic Day March is regarded as a striking feature of the celebration and it highlights Indian cultural and social heritage. Additionally, it displays India's defence capabilities. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force's nine to twelve different regiments march while wearing all of their official regalia. The salute is accepted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, the President of India.

The heroes of our nation, the soldiers, are remembered on this prestigious occasion. Different Gallantry awards and recognitions are presented to the  Martyrs and heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting the motherland.

Happy Sunshine to all the dignitaries, chief guests,s and my dear fellow mates! Every year on January 26, India celebrates Republic Day with great fervor and pride. It marks the anniversary of the adoption of our constitution. We became a sovereign, secular, socialist, and democratic republic on January 26, 1950, nearly three years after gaining our independence.

On August 15, 1947, we declared our independence from British rule, but our nation was still without a written constitution. In addition, India lacked the specialists and political influence necessary to ensure the efficient operation of state affairs. Up until that point, the 1935 Government of India Act, which was more inclined toward colonial rule, had essentially been modified in order to govern. As a result, it was imperative to create a comprehensive constitution that would represent everything India stands for.

Additionally, this day also saw the start of the Indian Parliament's first session. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India's first President, also took the oath of office on January 26. Because it signifies the end of British rule and the establishment of India as a Republic State, this day is crucial.

Every year on January 26, Indians celebrate with great fervour. Irrespective of sex, caste, religion, and other things whole nation comes together to celebrate this joyous day. It exemplifies how diverse our nation is in real life. India's capital city, New Delhi, observes the holiday with a Republic Day Parade that displays both the military might and cultural diversity of our nation.

These parades are held in numerous cities, and many schools participate in them. It is enjoyable to see the youngsters and experts work so hard. One can be proud of their country when one graces the parade. On this day, we hoist the national flag. The national anthem is played by the military band in New Delhi following a 21-gun salute after the President of India hoists the flag. It is a day to honour the spirit of freedom and support India's future ascent to greater heights.

Taking note of all that is written above, let's work together to build India of our desires. someone who really needs help this Christmas. With Faith in mind and pride in Soul, a very Happy Republic Day 2024!

Republic Day Speech: Every year, 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India. It is a historic day when the constitution of India officially came into force, and national celebrations take place. India became an independent republic and a sovereign democratic on 26th January 1950. India is one of the biggest democracies in the world. Dr. B R Ambedkar chaired and drafted the Constitution Drafting Committee, and these doctrines are accepted as the supreme law of India.

Below we have provided Republic Day Speech 2024 in English, written in easy and simple words for classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

This 26 January speech is helpful for students who are participating in a speech writing competition.

Republic Day Speech in English

Good morning all. On the eve of our 74th Republic Day , I would like to express my warm greetings to all of you. In 1950, we embarked on a journey as a republic nation on 26th January, affirming to practice and follow the principles laid down by our constitution. It emphasized democracy, secularity, equality and provided a framework for three organs-Legislative, judiciary, and executive.

We are now in the third decade of the twenty-first century, where the new generation witnesses the dawn of advanced discoveries and innovation. Every person is willingly participating in the national discourse and looking forward to the growth of the nation. The fundamentals laid down by the constitution strengthens our country, turning it into a robust democracy. By adhering to the rules and law, we are adding meaning to our celebration of independence.

On Republic day, President distributes civilian awards every year. These awards are given based on categories. Republic Day parade is organized by the military of defence in New Delhi. This show is the main attraction of the event and lasts for three days. It showcases India’s cultural and social heritage. Nine to Twelve different regiments of army, navy, and air force march past in all their finery and decorations.

The President unfurls the flag and addresses the nation with a motivational speech. Paramilitary forces and police forces also participate in the event. Furthermore, a tribute is paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence. In schools and colleges, students dress up in different traditional costumes representing each state and perform a dance, song, or a speech from the respective region.

Youth is the nation’s bright future; therefore, it is mandatory to act responsibly and preserve national heritage. India is our motherland, and hence it is necessary to work in its interest to make it shine. Everyone should possess the virtue of patriotism. By abiding by the rights and duties written in the constitution, one ensures harmony and peace in society. The spirit of brotherhood, fraternity, and support for each other should be paramount.

The famous saying that a pen is mightier than a sword is essential to fulfilling our core with non-violence and equal justice. The national holidays should not be taken for granted, but its significance needs to be promoted across states to create awareness and disseminate patriotism.

I want to conclude my speech by thanking everyone who honoured this program with their attendance. Lastly, I would like to quote Mahatma Gandhi , who rightly stated that be the change you wish to see. It implies that we must involve and bring change for a vibrant future and not just wait for the government to initiate.

Happy Republic Day!

Short Speech on Republic Day 200 Words

Below we have provided a short speech on Republic Day, suitable for kids and class 3, 4, 5, and 6 school students.

Good morning teachers, and my dear friends. It is a privilege to rise in front of you and deliver a speech on Republic day.

On the 74th Republic Day, we honour the remarkable contribution of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and other members of the assembly who drafted and brought it into force. The work and vision crafted in it sync with our cultural roots and promises every citizen equality of rights and fundamental duties. The constitution is a rule-book divided into various articles making it the most extended structure in the world.

It made the nation secular, sovereign, and democratic. The army, military, and forces participate in the parade to manifest the culture and tradition of our country. We hoist the flag by singing our National anthem written by our great poet Rabindranath Tagore. Sweets and snacks get distributed. A patriotic feeling and enthusiasm spread across the nation.

From kids to adults, every person is seen wearing tricolour outfits. We must abide by our constitution and maintain peace. We should never take our independence for granted and collectively work towards the betterment of our country. The sacrifices and struggles of our freedom fighters should not be confined to these national holidays but throughout our life. As rightly quoted by our former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “This is a country of colours and faith in spirituals.”

Let this Republic Day remind us of our leaders’ work and life to a safe and happy life. Finally, I would like to say that I am proud of my country and feels honoured to be a part of this gentry. Also, I would like to thank my teacher for placing trust in me and giving me a chance to speak on this occasion.

Happy Republic Day to all.

Honorable Principal Sir, respected brothers and sisters, and my dear friends. As we all know today is the 75th Republic Day of India. My Name is [Harsh Kumar] and on this prestigious day, I have got a chance to deliver my Republic Day speech in front of you all.

As we know the Indian constitution was adhered to on 26 Jan 1950 with a certain set of rules and regulations. Today we have gathered here to celebrate the victory of Republic Day and in the memory of great men like Rajendra Prasad, Subhash Chandra Bosh, and Mahatma Gandhi.

Ambedkar to establish the structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions, and set out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens.

Republic Day is a celebration of our unity in diversity. India has different cultures, languages, religions, and traditions. Our tricolor flag symbolizes this unity – the saffron color signifies strength and courage, the white middle band indicates peace and truth with the Dharma Chakra, and the green shows the fertility, growth, and auspiciousness of our land.

As we celebrate this day, let us also acknowledge the progress India has made over the years. Our advancements in technology, medicine, science, and space exploration have put us on the world map.

Republic Day is a significant national event in India, celebrated on January 26th every year to honor the day the Constitution of India came into effect. It is a day of pride, patriotism, and reflection on the nation’s progress. Crafting an engaging anchoring script for Republic Day requires careful planning, a deep understanding of the event’s importance, and the ability to connect with the audience on an emotional level. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you write a compelling anchoring script for Republic Day.

Table of Contents

Understand the Event

Before you start writing, gather comprehensive details about the event:

  • Theme:  Understand if there is a specific theme for this year’s Republic Day celebration.
  • Schedule:  Obtain a detailed itinerary of the event, including flag hoisting, speeches, cultural performances, and any special segments.
  • Participants:  Know the key participants such as the chief guest, dignitaries, performers, and students.
  • Audience:  Recognize who will be attending – students, teachers, parents, and community members.

Structure Your Script

A well-structured script is crucial for a seamless and engaging event. Typically, an anchoring script includes the following sections:

Introduction

Welcome address, event segments, transitions, closing remarks.

Start with a vibrant and patriotic opening to capture the audience’s attention. Introduce yourself and your co-anchor, if any, and set the tone for the event. Briefly outline the significance of Republic Day and what the audience can expect.

Deliver a warm and heartfelt welcome speech that acknowledges the presence of dignitaries, guests, teachers, students, and the community. Highlight the importance of Republic Day in celebrating India’s democracy and progress.

Introduce each segment of the event clearly and concisely. Here are some common segments you might include:

  • Flag Hoisting:  Announce the flag hoisting ceremony and invite the chief guest and other dignitaries to the stage. Ensure the national anthem is sung with reverence.
  • Speeches:  Introduce speeches by students, teachers, or special guests who share their thoughts on the significance of Republic Day and the nation’s progress.

  • Special Presentations:  Announce any special presentations, such as a speech by the chief guest or a presentation on India’s achievements.

Smooth transitions between segments are crucial for maintaining the event’s flow. Use connecting phrases and brief commentary to bridge the gap between different parts of the program. This helps keep the audience engaged and ensures the event progresses seamlessly.

Conclude the event on a high note. Thank everyone involved in organizing the celebration, including participants, volunteers, and the audience. Acknowledge any sponsors or supporters and leave the audience with a thoughtful closing statement that reflects the spirit of Republic Day and its importance.

Speech on Republic Day in English

Short Speech on Republic Day

Speech on republic day.

Good morning to all. My name is…… I read in class….. As we all know that we have gathered here on the very special occasion of our nation called as Republic Day of India. I would like to narrate a Republic Day speech in front of you. First of all I would like to say a lot of thank to my class teacher as just because of her I have got such a wonderful opportunity in my school to come on this stage and speak something about my beloved country on its great occasion of Republic day.

India is a self-governing country since 15 th of August 1947. India got independence from the British rule on 15 th of August in 1947 which we celebrate as Independence Day, However, on 26 th of January since 1950 we celebrate as Republic Day. The Constitution of India came into force on 26 th of January in 1950, so we celebrate this day as the Republic Day every year. This year in 2016, we are celebrating 75 th republic day of India.

Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only public has rights to elect their representatives as political leader to lead the country in right direction. So, India is a Republic country where public elects its leaders as a president, prime minister , etc. Our Great Indian freedom fighters have struggled a lot to the “Purna Swaraj” in India. They did so that their future generations may live without struggle and led country ahead.

The name of our great Indian leaders and freedom fighters are Mahatma Gandhi , Bhagat Singh , Chandra Shekher Ajad, Lala Lajpath Rai , Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel, Lal bahadur Shastri , etc. They fought continuously against the British rule to make India a free country. We can never forget their sacrifices towards our country. We should remember them on such great occasions and salute them. It has become possible just because of them that we can think from our own mind and live freely in our nation without anyone’s force.

Our first Indian President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who said that, “We find the whole of this vast land brought together under the jurisdiction of one constitution and one union which takes over responsibility for the welfare of more than 320 million men and women inhabit it”.

How shame to say that still we are fighting with crime, corruption and violence (in the form of terrorist, rape, theft, riots, strikes, etc) in our country. Again, there is a need to get together to save our country from such slavery as it is pulling our nation back from going to its main stream of development and progress. We should be aware of our social issues like Poverty , unemployment, illiteracy, global warming , inequality, etc in order to solve them to go ahead.

Dr. Abdul Kalam has said that “If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the Father, the Mother and the Teacher”. As a citizen of the country we should think seriously about it and do all possible efforts to lead our nation.

Thanks, Jai Hind

India is a democratic country where public is authorized to elect its leaders to lead the country. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was our first President of India. Since we got independence from the British rule in 1947, our country has developed a lot and counted among the powerful countries. Top saffron colour of our flag denotes the strength and courage of our country. The middle white colour indicates peace however lower green colour indicates the growth and prosperity. There is a navy blue wheel in the center having 24 equal spokes indicating Dharma Chakra of the great king Ashoka .

Speech on 2024 Republic Day 4

I would like to say good morning to our respected Principal, my teachers, my seniors and colleagues. Let me let you know something about this special occasion. Today we are celebrating 75th republic day of our nation. It was started celebrating since 1950, two and half years later to the Independence of India in 1947. We celebrate it every year on 26th of January as our constitution came into effect on the same day. After getting independence from the British rule in 1947, India was not a self-ruled country means a sovereign state. India became a self-governing country when its constitution came into effect in 1950.

India is a republic country which has no any king or queen to rule it however public of this country is the ruler. Every one of us living in this country has equal rights, no one can be a president, chief minister or prime minister without voting of us. We have the right to choose our best Prime Minister or other leaders to lead this country in the right direction. Our leaders should be capable enough to think in the favor of our country. He should think equally about every states, villages and cities of the country so that India can be a well developed country without any discrimination of race, religion, poor, rich, high class, lower class, middle class, illiteracy, etc.

Our leader should have dominating property in the favor of country so that each and every official may follow all the rules and regulations in correct way. Every official should follow the Indian rules and regulations in order to make this country a corruption free country. Only a corruption free India would really and truly mean a country with “Unity in Diversity”.

Our leaders should not understand them a special person, as they are one from us and have been selected according to their capability to lead the country. They have been selected by us to serve their truthful services to the India for a limited time period. So, there should not be any confusion between their own ego and authority and position.

As being an Indian citizen, we too are fully responsible about our country. We should make ourselves up-to-date, read news and be completely aware of what are going on in our country, what are going on wrong or right, what are our leaders doing and firstly what we are doing for our country. Earlier, India was a slave country under British rule which was made independent after several years of struggle by the sacrifices of thousands of lives of our freedom fighters. So, we should not let go easily their all priceless sacrifices and make this country a slave country again under corruption, illiteracy, inequality and other social discrimination. Today is the best day when we should take an oath to preserve our country’s real meaning, position, status and most importantly culture of humanity.

Long Speech on Republic Day of India – 7

Greetings to all of you on 75 th Republic Day of India! This year we are celebrating our 75 th Republic Day on 26 th January and also our transition from a colonial governed state to an independent Republic.

As we all know that India gained independence on 15 th August 1947, but we remained as dominion status under the British, until 26 th January 1950, when the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly; marking India’s emergence as a fully Independent, Democratic and Republic Nation.

The freedom and rights that we enjoy today as the citizens of India, not to mention this Democratic setup, we owe it all to our Constitution and to the people who created it. Constitution of India is her supreme governing document; it is a rule book of India that includes everything from rights of an ordinary citizen to the rights of its President. It assures the citizens of fundamental rights and justice, liberty and fraternity.

Much had been sacrificed by our freedom fighters to gain independence. Many even lost their lives for it. They could have easily rested their guards and enjoyed the fruits of independence; instead they took the laborious and painful task of formulating a Constitution for India. Because they had a vision! They had a vision of India where no discrimination is made among its people on the basis of caste, religion, ethnicity etc; where equal opportunity is provided to all irrespective of caste, region or gender; where freedom of religion, expression, education are provided to the citizens.

At the apex of the idea was a government of the people, for the people and by the people; resting the ultimate power in the hands of people of India. With this vision at heart the noble souls framed the Constitution of India; instead of resting in the joys of independence.

The great men and women who framed our Constitution had a great foresight and well understood the significance of rule of law for peaceful and prosperous existence.

It is very important for us to understand the meaning and values of being a Republic. Being a Republic means having an elected form of government, elected by the people through a Democratic setup. A government where chosen representatives could exercise their powers according to the rule of law as enshrined in the Constitution. People have the power to overthrow the government on the charges of non performance or corruption.

In the Republic of India, people are its true stakeholders and the pillars. We all are the pillars of Republic of India in our own capacities. Soldier who defends the Republic of India is a pillar; mothers nurture the pillars of Republic; fathers who look for the needs of the Republic; doctors, engineers, lawyers who tend to our Republic in their own ways; teachers who instill good values into our Republic; officers who maintain law and order or dispense their public duties for the Republic; ministers and elected representatives who formulate the policies for the Republic; even the sweeper who keeps our republic clean is a pillar of the Republic of India.

I may have missed mentioning many, but the bottom line is that every citizen of India is a pillar on which the legacy of Republic of India stands.

We all must together take the legacy of India forward, cherishing our Republican and Democratic values, moving on the path of progress and prosperity. Moving a huge nation on the path to progress and prosperity is indeed a big project. It will require an effort from each one of us; which is only possible when we stay united and admire the principles of Republican and Democratic setup.

A Nation will be able to prosper and grow only when its people are happy and content. To be happy we need to have rights, powers, equal opportunities, justice, liberty and fraternity. These Rights are guaranteed by the Constitution of India, whose inception we celebrate as Republic Day.

It is therefore Ladies and Gentlemen, not only a gazetted holiday but also a day to admire the principles of Republic and thank the men and women who framed our Constitution. Take a day off from your daily routine to teach your children the significance of Constitution and the principles of Democracy and Republic.

Celebrate the Republic Day with Nationalism at heart and in your conduct too. Acknowledge the fact that we all are equal irrespective of our caste, creed, religion, gender, ethnicity, language spoken or financial status. Instill the same values into our children. Remember, they too are the pillars of the Republic of India and the ones to whom we will be later handing the Nation’s legacy.

With this Ladies and Gentlemen I conclude my speech on Republic Day, wishing you all once again a very Happy Republic Day and hoping that we will achieve the goals of development and prosperity soon; together! God Bless You!

Long speech.

A very warm good morning to one and all present here. I am Rahul, a student of Class 8. I am here to present a speech on the auspicious occasion of 26 January Republic Day. I am glad as I am chosen to present this speech and welcome everyone to this occasion. Today, India celebrates its 75th Republic day. We all have gathered here today to celebrate India Republic Day 2024 and commemorate India’s 75 years of democracy.

I have got this wonderful opportunity to come on the stage and deliver the welcome occasion speech. I would like to talk about my beloved country on this occasion of Republic Day and how is Republic Day celebrated in India. We all must know India celebrates Republic Day on 26 January as the Constitution of India came into existence on this day in 1950. This not only made us a republic but also made the people of India the highest authority in the country.

Our freedom fighters had struggled and sacrificed their lives so that the future of India is not under slavery. Freedom strugglers like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and many more must be remembered. We must pay tribute to them on today’s occasion.

India won Independence on August 15th, 1947. About 200 years of British rule came to an end on this day. Even after independence, India was facing Hindu-Muslim riots and corruption. It was the duty of each member of free India to return the country to its glory. After rigorous efforts, the constitution was finally implemented in a full-fledged manner on January 26, 1950. The credit for drafting the Indian constitution goes to B.R. Ambedkar. He was a member of the Constituent Drafting Committee who is considered the chief architect of the constitution of India. 26 January Republic Day is celebrated as colourfully organized cultural events all over the country. Every citizen of India is filled with pride and happiness on the occasion. They play patriotic songs and enjoy sweet dishes to mark the celebrations.

India’s constitution is considered one of the best in the world. India is the largest democracy. However, India is still pulled back by crime, corruption, violence, terrorism, etc. After so many years of being a republic nation, India is still under the captivity of such nation-wide issues. As true citizens of the country, our responsibility is to work towards the development of the country and protect our land as true patriots!

Thank you for your patient hearing.

Inspiring Examples for Republic Day Speech in English

#1 english example for india republic day speech 2024.

“Good morning everyone,

Today, as we gather to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of our great nation, let us take a moment to reflect on the historical and cultural significance of this day. On January 26, 1950, India adopted its Constitution, embarking on a journey as a sovereign, secular, and democratic republic. It’s an auspicious day that symbolises the unity of India and the values written in our Constitution.

I stand here before you – students, teachers, and respected members of our community – to speak about the importance of democracy and the role each one of us plays in nurturing it. Democracy isn’t just about the right to vote; it’s about participation, responsibility, and the power to shape our future.

Since becoming a republic, India has achieved remarkable milestones. We’ve seen advancements in technology, education, and have made significant strides on the global stage. Yet, the heart of our progress lies in the spirit of our people – resilient, diverse, and ever hopeful.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘The future depends on what we do in the present.’ These words remind us that the foundation of a strong republic lies in the actions of its citizens. Each one of us here has a role to play in building an inclusive and prosperous India.

When I think of Republic Day, I recall my grandfather’s stories of the freedom struggle. His journey taught me the value of freedom and the sacrifices made to achieve it. It’s a personal reminder of why we must cherish and uphold the liberties we often take for granted.

As we move forward, let us do so with the spirit of unity and determination. Let’s contribute to our nation’s growth, uphold the principles of our Constitution, and work towards an India that offers opportunity and justice for all.

Before I conclude, I want to leave you with a thought. Republic Day is not just a day for flag-hoisting and parades; it’s a day to renew our commitment to our country and to each other.

Thank you for the opportunity to speak today. Let’s celebrate this Republic Day with pride and a sense of responsibility towards our great nation.

Jai Hind!”

#2 Example for Thought Provoking Speech for Republic Day

“Respected Principal, esteemed teachers, and my dear friends,

Today, as we gather to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India, we commemorate a day that stands as a testament to our nation’s resilience and commitment to democracy. On this day in 1950, India adopted its Constitution, marking the birth of the world’s largest democracy.

Addressing you all today – the future of our nation, our esteemed educators, and dedicated community members – I am inspired to talk about the role of youth in nation-building. Our great nation’s journey since 1950 is a narrative of incredible progress and relentless pursuit of excellence, driven by the youth’s energy and innovation.

As the young poet, Dushyant Kumar said, ‘Only those who dream can fly.’ This Republic Day, let us ignite new dreams and aspirations for our country. Let us pledge to contribute actively to India’s growth story, ensuring that the fruits of our progress are enjoyed by every citizen.

Growing up, I always admired how our community came together on Republic Day, celebrating our unity in diversity. This personal experience shaped my understanding of the true essence of this day – it’s about celebrating our ‘Indianness’ and nurturing the values that define us as a nation.

In preparing for today, I was struck by the foresight of our Constitution’s architects. They envisioned an India where every individual’s potential could be realized. And today, we are living their dream. But the journey doesn’t end here. We have miles to go, and each step we take is crucial.

As we look forward, let us also remember to uphold the principles of our Constitution in everything we do. Let’s educate, innovate, and work towards an inclusive and progressive India.

In closing, I want to emphasize that Republic Day is more than a historical milestone. It’s a day to rekindle our patriotic spirit and renew our commitment to our motherland.

Thank you for listening. Let’s celebrate this day with pride and continue to work towards a brighter future for our nation.

MAGA Idiots Fail to Spin Away Embarrassing Fact on Trump Bronx Rally

This pathetic lie will brighten your day..

speech writing republic day

Team Trump is up to its old tricks again and falsely claiming a lackluster rally in the Bronx on Thursday drew a crowd of 25,000 supporters. This estimate comically contradicts on-the-ground reports , the NYPD , aerial views, and the laws of physics.

But reality is no match for the notoriously anti-factual Trump and his supporters, who have been obsessed with lying about his crowd size since the 2017 inauguration—and have become the living embodiment of the Nazi-era propaganda tactic of “Repeat a lie often enough, and it becomes the truth.”

Tweet screenshot

In reality, Trump requested an event permit for 3,500 people, according to The New York Times . On Thursday, 3,400 tickets had been issued for the rally, according to NYPD statements made to Raw Story. How many ticket holders showed up is unclear, but according to live aerial shots from ABC, Trump’s rally was confined to just one area of the palatial park: the amphitheater.

Tweet screenshot with photo of crowd size (not a huge crowd)

Conservatives’ claims of 25,000 showing out in the Bronx is roughly 30 times what reality depicts of around 800 people in Crotona Park’s amphitheater, with a few hundred hanging around past the gates. For comparison, Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo fits 30,000 people—as noted by a crowd-size visualizer blog this reporter has often referred to when people violently inflate their numbers.

Were 25,000 people to have shown up in the Bronx, tightly packed, they would have occupied 13.8 baseball diamonds . With room to move around, a crowd that big would have occupied 30.8 baseball diamonds . But aerial visuals indicate Trump supporters on Thursday left the baseball field–size amphitheater less than a quarter full, roughly the size of one baseball diamond—or around 800 people.

MAGA Feud in Central New Jersey Ends in Local Official’s Arrest

Yard signs: check. apple airtags: check. let the sting operation proceed.

Hot air balloons rise over a field in Readington, NJ.

An amateur sting operation in a bitter feud between Republicans in a small town in central New Jersey has now resulted in the arrest of a local councilman.

The hustle, reports the New Jersey Globe , was organized and planned by a growing cohort of MAGA Republicans in Readington Township. Frustrated by the increasingly routine disappearances of their political placards, they decided to plant six repurposed boards from the district’s 2022 House race as bait, pinning them with Apple AirTags before planting them next to a group of signs supporting a pair of moderate conservatives running for Readington mayor.

The signs were then stolen, and the AirTags led the Donald Trump–aligned cohort to an unexpected location: the home of committeeman John Albanese.

Albanese, a member of the town’s Republican old guard and a former Readington mayor himself, was arrested May 17 and charged with “unlawfully taking or exercising control over certain moveable property,” according to a summons issued by Patrolman Brandon Griffiths.

Incumbent Mayor Adam Mueller and Committee Member Juergen Huelsebusch, both aligned with the town’s new conservative wing, issued a joint statement denouncing Alabanese’s alleged behavior. “The arrest of Committeeman Albanese, an elected official and former Mayor, is deeply troubling and indefensible,” the pair told the Globe . “Given the considerable damage and embarrassment this has caused to Readington Township and the Republican Party, we call for his immediate resignation from all elected offices. This is a necessary step to begin restoring trust and integrity within our community.”

Still, the election boards weren’t exactly the MAGA cohort’s property to be stolen. Originally, the House district signs belonged to the campaign for Representative Thomas Kean Jr., though the backs of the signs had since been marked as “Property of Readington GOP,” according to the Globe.

A spokesman for the Kean campaign declined to comment to the local paper, though the freshman lawmaker is backing Huelsebusch and Mueller.

Trump Has a New V.P. Contender—and He’s the Worst of Them All

Donald trump’s shortlist for his potential running nightmare was already bad. it just turned into a nightmare..

speech writing republic day

The latest addition to Donald Trump’s horror show of vice presidential candidates is Senator Tom Cotton, The New York Times reports .

Trump reportedly thinks the Arkansas senator is a reliable communicator, and likes the fact that Cotton is a military veteran with undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard.

Cotton told Fox News on Monday that Trump has not discussed the vice presidency with him, and the two only discussed what the former president needs to do to be elected a second time.

“When we do talk, we talk about what it’s going to take to win this election in November—to elect President Trump to another term in the White House and elect a Republican Congress, so we can begin to repair the damage that Joe Biden’s presidency has inflicted on this country,” Cotton said.

Cotton may be on Trump’s shortlist for a different reason: his foreign policy hawkishness and itchy trigger finger.

Even before his political career began, he called for American journalists to be jailed for reporting on classified information. After becoming senator, he made a name for himself by constantly calling on the United States to attack Iran. But he’s also called for a brutal use of force domestically as well. In 2020, the Arkansas senator infamously called for invoking the Insurrection Act and sending in federal troops to quell Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Most recently, he again called for troops to be deployed against protesters, this time against demonstrators who oppose Israel’s brutal massacre in Gaza, which he continues to cheer on .

This year, he’s also made headlines for badgering TikTok’s CEO Shou Zi Chew in a racist onslaught of questions about Chew’s background, repeatedly asking if the social media executive was a member of the Chinese Communist Party and ignoring Chew’s assertion that he was Singaporean.

To many Republicans in today’s Trump-led GOP, these disturbing stances are welcomed, not rejected. The question is whether the Republican presidential nominee thinks Cotton and his record would help him return to the White House.

Trump Proudly Accepts Endorsements From Rappers Charged With Murder

Donald trump invited some shocking guests to join him on stage at his bronx rally..

Donald Trump stands at a lectern on stage, splays his hands out and smiles. A few heads in a crowd (out of focus) are below him.

Criminals of a feather flocked together on Thursday as Trump hosted two Brooklyn rappers out on bail for murder conspiracy during a campaign rally in the Bronx.

Rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow were indicted in 2023, alongside some 30 other people, as part of a massive investigation into two rival Brooklyn gangs. Sheff G—real name Michael Williams—allegedly used his accomplishments to help fund widespread violence. According to the New York Daily News , Williams was released on a $150,000 cash or $1 million bond in April after being charged with conspiracy, multiple murder counts, criminal possession of a weapon, assault with a weapon, and 12 shootings. Williams’s lackey Sleepy Hallow—real name Tegan Chambers—was released with a $200,000 cash or $150,000 bond bail for conspiracy charges.

Trump proudly brought the rappers on stage with him to give remarks to the red behatted crowd on Thursday. Williams told the crowd, “They’re always going to whisper the accomplishments and shout your failures. Trump gonna shout the wins for all of us.”

Chambers kept it even more brief and simply shouted, “Make America Great Again.”

As the duo departed and before Trump resumed making promises to “turn New York City around,” Trump noted that he wants teeth grills similar to Sheff G’s, according to reporting from Daily News reporter Chris Sommerfeldt.

Tweet screenshot

It’s unclear how the duo connected with the Trump campaign or why the Trump campaign felt it was a wise move to host a man accused, per the Brooklyn district attorney, of “using his fame and fortune to elevate gang violence in Brooklyn.”

Potential Trump V.P. Dodges Simple Question on Dangerous Trump Lie

Byron donalds refused to answer a question on the merits of donald trump’s latest conspiracy theory..

Donald Trump speaks and looks off camera

Representative Byron Donalds won’t answer a simple question on whether he thinks the FBI wanted to assassinate Donald Trump while searching his estate for classified documents.

The contender for vice president kept dodging CNN’s Abby Phillip Thursday night when she tried to get a straight answer out of him regarding the conspiracy theory.

“Congressman, I just want to note that you are not responding to a very simple question about a conspiracy theory that you voiced,” Phillip said, at times talking over Donalds.

“What conspiracy theory?” Donalds replied, sounding clueless.

“That the FBI, by having on a document that they are authorized to use deadly force, was trying to harm or assassinate Donald Trump,” Phillip replied. “That is false. Will you acknowledge that?”

“Can I be very clear with you?” Donalds asked, talking over Phillip, who tried in vain to get him to acknowledge the truth of the situation. “I’m not sure what Merrick Garland is trying to do these days, because it is clear that the Department of Justice is being weaponized against Donald Trump.”

Phillip: I just want to note that you are not responding to a very simple question about a conspiracy theory that you voiced.. It’s pretty extraordinary that when faced with clear facts, you won’t acknowledge it pic.twitter.com/6fLyMoskCb — Acyn (@Acyn) May 24, 2024

Phillip and Donalds argued throughout the rest of the interview, with Donalds spending more than three minutes trying to steer their discussion back to his assertion that the Justice Department is being weaponized, and Phillip trying to pin down the congressman on how there was no plot to kill Trump, as the former president claimed on a Truth Social post earlier this week .

A former president claiming their successor tried to kill them is unprecedented, according to The Washington Post. The FBI has already testified that it chose to search Mar-a-Lago on a day that Trump would not be there in order to prevent any conflict. The FBI and Merrick Garland each confirmed that standard procedure for searches includes a deadly-force policy and that the same policy was used when President Biden’s homes were searched for classified documents.

Donalds and other Trump allies are all seizing upon this conspiracy theory to distract from the recent news that more classified documents were found in Trump’s bedroom at Mar-a-Lago four months after the FBI’s initial search. Meanwhile, the actual case against Trump remains in limbo thanks to Trump appointee Judge Aileen Cannon’s indefinite stay .

Cognitive Decline? Trump Brags About Putting His Pants On by Himself

Donald trump is proud of his heroic struggles to dress himself..

speech writing republic day

Donald Trump rallied at a park in the Bronx on Thursday to an adoring crowd of hundreds of current and future Florida residents , alongside rappers accused of murder , while rambling about putting his pants on .

During his speech, Trump referred to imaginary business executives while reliving his glory days as a racist housing developer. “Some of the greatest days of my business career were in the toughest times,” Trump said from prewritten remarks. “But I enjoyed waking up every single morning and—go to battle,” he continued, veering off script.

“A lot of people say to me today, the toughest business people, people that you know about, ‘Could I ask you a question: How do you do it?’ I say, ‘Do what?’”

Trump then proceeded to have an imaginary conversation with himself and unnamed Toughest Business People begging him to tell them how he puts his pants on. “‘How do you get up in the morning and put your pants on? Why do you put those pants on?’ ‘I’ll explain it to you someday’ ‘How do you do it? How do you get up? How?’”

Trump: A lot of people ask me “how do you put your pants on?” pic.twitter.com/a8RUJwdewU — Acyn (@Acyn) May 23, 2024

The tangent appeared to be intended to boast of Trump’s strength but ultimately served as a conduit for his greatest weakness: his tendency to ramble incoherently. The stumble is one in a series of particularly nonsensical gaffes the 77-year old Trump has had lately, raising questions about his mental acuity. Recent polling shows six in 10 Americans have doubts about Trump’s—and Biden’s—aging mental capability.

Trump Is Suddenly Very Worried About Protesters

Trump cheered on demonstrators on january 6—and has mocked biden for expected protests at the dnc. but now he’s the one worried about big crowds..

A man wearing a bull horn headdress and red, white, and blue facepaint cackles after breaking into the United States Capitol.

The presidential candidate who stood and watched as scores of his supporters rampaged through the U.S. Capitol is being proactive about security for the Republican National Convention in July.

The Trump campaign has decided that the Secret Service’s current security plans don’t provide enough clearance between the GOP event and its liberal protesters. In a letter to Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle , the campaign described the current programmed distance between the Milwaukee event and its protesters as an “unacceptable” and “critical flaw.” Specifically, it requests that the agency add the inclusion of a nearby park—effectively an extra one-block cushion area—to the security perimeter in a preemptive effort to keep thousands of the event’s anticipated detractors far away from its attendees.

Trump is not the only politico to request the change, though he’s almost certainly the loudest. Some of the biggest GOP lawmakers in the country have already made the special request, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senators Ron Johnson and Rick Scott.

“To date, the local USSS team has been unresponsive to the RNC’s reasonable proposal, as set out in my April 26 letter, to alleviate these safety risks through a very modest alteration of the Perimeter—namely, to expand a small portion of the Security Perimeter approximately one block to the East to encapsulate the Park,” wrote Republican National Committee counsel Todd Steggerda in the letter.

The city of Milwaukee did not agree with the Trump campaign’s assessment of the security perimeter. Milwaukee’s director of communications Jeff Fleming told ABC News that the city did not identify “any critical flaws” in the security plan and that it is coordinating with “multiple agencies” to ensure a safe event for everyone involved.

Senate Republicans Kill Their Own Border Deal to Suck Up to Trump

Republicans just helped kill their own border bill—again..

speech writing republic day

A border bill negotiated by Republicans and Democrats has died in the Senate—with the help of lots of opposition from Republicans, including the bill’s main author.

Senators voted 43–50 to take down the bill, an attempt to renew a border proposal that was tanked earlier this year thanks to Donald Trump.

In February, Republicans killed an attempt to pass a bill for border security, also a product of bipartisan negotiations. Back then, several Republicans called out Trump and the rest of their party for killing a bill that essentially gave the GOP what they wanted : rather draconian immigration restrictions. Back then, Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump were more afraid of handing the Democrats a win than they were of a supposedly insecure southern U.S. border. Months later, that again seems to be the case.

This time, even the bill’s authors, such as Senators James Lankford, an Oklahoma Republican, and Kyrsten Sinema, an independent for herself , voted against advancing the legislation. The GOP, hypocritically, also sees the vote as a political boost to President Biden.

“Today is not a bill, today is a prop,” said Lankford on the Senate floor before the vote. “Everyone sees it for what it is.” This is especially ironic, considering that Lankford was among those Republicans who called B.S. the last time a border deal failed .

Some Democrats also voted to kill the bill due to other issues. “It fails to address the root causes of migration or to establish more lawful pathways,” Senator Alex Padilla, a California Democrat, told the Associated Press.

Meanwhile, Republicans still use fearmongering and racist tropes whenever the issue of immigration comes up, especially when they are up for reelection. No matter how much danger they claim Americans are in from an unsecure southern border, they still would rather use it as a talking point against Democrats instead of actually doing something about it.

The Surprising Figure Who Thinks Judge Cannon Is Doing a Terrible Job

Ty cobb, who represented the former president during robert mueller’s special counsel investigation, criticized the judge overseeing trump’s document case during a recent tv interview..

Donald Trump purses his lips and holds his palms up while wearing a read "Make America Great Again" hat.

On Thursday, former Trump White House attorney Ty Cobb accused Judge Aileen Cannon, the federal judge overseeing his ex-boss’s classified documents case, of “incompetence,” insisting that there’s more than enough evidence—and time—to take the case to trial before Election Day.

“I don’t think this case will move at all,” Cobb said on CNN. “And I think the fact that she’s scheduling hearings, multiple hearings, sort of one or two motions at a time, is compelling evidence of that. Most federal judges would have long ago ruled on all the pending motions.”

“And frankly, this is a case that should’ve started trial yesterday or two days ago when the original trial date was set,” he continued. “This case could have easily gotten to trial. Only her incompetence and perceived bias has prevented that.”

Earlier this month, the Trump-appointed judge ordered a stay on the GOP presidential nominee’s legal requirement to give the government advance notice of which classified materials will be discussed—but offered no expiration date for the theoretically temporary reprieve. Legal analysts have worried that a strategy of continual delays could be the Trump-appointed judge’s way of surreptitiously dismissing the trial altogether.

Cobb also accused Cannon of simply failing to understand the case—or the determination of the serial fraudster being tried.

“Trump has a consistent record of lying about the judicial process, and his perception of that process is really odd,” Cobb said, pointing to Trump’s accusation that the Biden administration had authorized the FBI to shoot him during its search and seizure of Mar-a-Lago—a claim that was, in actuality, a wild, willful misread of a standard policy statement regarding the use of deadly force.

Louisiana Republicans have passed a draconian bill classifying abortion pills as schedule IV “controlled dangerous substances”—and threatening anyone in possession of the pill without a prescription with prison and thousands of dollars in fines. The legislation is expected to be signed by Republican Governor Jeff Landry.

The soon-to-be law will go after both mifepristone and misoprostol, commonly known simply as the abortion pill. Prior to its final passage in the state Senate on Thursday, health care providers warned the bill will make it more difficult to treat miscarriages, as the legislation requires special licensing and controlled distribution of abortion pills.

Under Louisiana law , possession of a schedule IV controlled dangerous substance includes a fine up to $5,000, jail time from one to five years, or both. Distribution or possession with intent to distribute carries a fine up to $15,000 and imprisonment up to 10 years.

Louisiana legislation has steadily restricted access to the abortion pill in recent years. Legislation passed in 2022 banned abortion pills by mail, required abortion pills to be administered by a physician—not a nurse or other health care worker—and mandated any administration to be reported to the state’s Department of Health. When that law took effect, two abortion providers in the state shut down .

Conservatives have been working to ban abortion pills, used to terminate pregnancy in its first 10 weeks, since the overturning of Roe. The two-part abortion pill was first developed in France in the 1980s, with the Food and Drug Administration finally approving its distribution in the U.S. in 2000. By 2023, chemically induced abortions accounted for 63 percent of abortions nationwide. Anti-abortion activists have falsely claimed the pills are dangerous and that their effects can be reversed , while health care professionals insist they are the safest way to terminate early term pregnancies, including miscarriage.
