Life in Moscow

Moscow is the capital of Russia and the largest city in Europe by area.  It is also one of the most populous cities in the world with an estimated current population of more than 15 million within the city limits and 25 million within its metropolitan area. According to the 2019 Forbes List, Moscow is home to more billionaires than anywhere else in the world apart from New York and Hong Kong.  Moscow has a rich cultural history and is well known for its unique and beautiful architecture, art, classical music and ballet.  The city is easy to get around on foot or by public transport, although the metro gets very crowded during rush hour.  The roads are very busy with frequent traffic jams.  In recent years Moscow has become a real culinary capital with plenty of excellent restaurants coffee shops.  It is a common misconception that Russians are unfriendly.  In Russian culture it is unusual to smile at strangers.  Most Russians are warm, sincere and honest and will give you a genuine smile once they get to know you.

Central Moscow

The prestigious district of Arbat is centrally located in the western part of the city and home to a number of embassies.  It is a popular area rich in beautiful architecture and luxurious apartments.

The central, convenient and lively Tverskaya Street in the north westerly part of the city leads directly to Red Square and the Kremlin.  There are, however, some quieter side streets, like Kamergersky Lane, with beautiful housing and an abundance of restaurants and cafés.

Patriarshiye Prudy

To the southern side of Tverskaya Street is the popular family area of Patriarshiye Prudy (Patriarch’s Ponds).  This is a calm and quiet neighbourhood around a beautiful city park.

Basmanny District

To the east of the city centre is the Basmanny District, a clean, green neighbourhood considered to be a calm oasis in the heart of the city.  This area is home to Chistye prudy (Clean Ponds), a popular park with paddle boats to rent in the Summer or ice skates in the Winter.

Tretyakov Gallery

Situated in the southern part of the city, the Tretyakov Gallery area is lively with plenty of upmarket bars and coffee shops.  There are some quieter neighbourhoods off the main streets of Pyatnitskaya and Ordynka.

Outside the Garden Ring

Fruzenskaya area.

To the south west of the city, just outside the Garden Ring, is the Fruzenskaya embankment.  This area is very leafy and green overlooking the Moscow River and Gorky Park.  This area is popular with families but apartments are often quite small and expensive.

Leningradsky Prospekt

Leningradsky Prospekt is a busy avenue to the north west of the city that connects with the top of Tverskaya Street at its southern end.  This quirky, bohemian area, famous for its Artist’s Village (Sokol area), is leafy and green with some remaining dachas (Russian country cottages).

At our Model United Nations club, students collaborate with friends, learn to research, reason, and communicate effectively, and open their minds to different perspectives.

In school, our Primary and Secondary Student Councils – supported by our House captains, Head Boy and Girl, and Eco Committee – represent their peers and choose causes and issues to promote. This includes fundraising for local charities, improving our House merit system, and reducing the amount of plastic we use.

We encourage our older students to take part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, too. By immersing themselves in experiences that build confidence, resilience, and independence, our students learn new skills and give back to the community.

Our commitment to personal, social and health education (PSHE) fosters the knowledge and attributes our students need to thrive as individuals, family members, and part of society. This ensures they develop a strong moral compass and belief system.

How to Build Confidence

Research shows that confident students are more likely to succeed academically.   In fact, several science-backed studies cite self-confidence as the number one predictor of academic achievement. Researchers found that students with greater confidence were more willing to learn and challenge themselves. They were also more motivated, resilient, and capable of dealing with adversity.

At the International School of Moscow (ISM), our job is to build and nurture positive self-esteem in children. But what is confidence? And how does it affect academic performance?

U.S. "losing a generation" to fentanyl as agents fight Mexican cartels supplying the drug, DEA head says

By Bill Whitaker

September 22, 2024 / 7:00 PM EDT / CBS News

We are in the midst of the worst drug crisis in U.S. history. The drug is fentanyl, and unlike cocaine and heroin, it's a purely chemical, man-made drug. It's cheap to produce, easily smuggled, and packs an incredibly addictive punch – 50 times more powerful than heroin. Nearly all the fentanyl flooding into the U.S. is made in Mexico by two powerful drug cartels, with chemicals primarily purchased from China. And as you're about to hear, it is frequently hidden in counterfeit pills made to look just like prescription drugs. It's the scourge of our time. Last year more than 70,000 Americans died from fentanyl; that's a higher death toll than U.S. military casualties in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

Angela King: We were so naive to fentanyl. We thought fentanyl, you hear about it, but you think 'Oh that's just affecting people on the streets, homeless people, drug addicts.' No. It is so insidious.

Angela King and Mike O'Kelley lost their 20-year-old son, Jack, to fentanyl last Thanksgiving. A junior at the University of Georgia, Jack had come home for the long weekend and was out late partying.

  • What's fueling the fentanyl crisis is "not a whodunit," but "there's so much more that needs to be done," DEA leader says

Mike O'Kelley: He was at a friend's house. So I had gone to bed a little worried.

The next morning he couldn't reach Jack, so he used "Find My iPhone."

Mike O'Kelley and Angela King

Mike O'Kelley: I could see where he was. I texted the mother of the house who basically sent me a message back, 'Oh, we're not there. Door's unlocked. They're asleep.'

At eleven o'clock Thanksgiving morning, Mike went upstairs and found his son in bed… unresponsive.

Mike O'Kelley: I noticed his chest wasn't moving. So immediately pulled him out of the bed. Had, had performed CPR for 30-plus minutes.

Angela King: Mike called me and, screaming in the phone, "Jack's gone. Jack's gone." And I immediately rushed over there with one of our children. And the EMT had arrived and was working on Jack upstairs. And it was the most horrific, traumatic -- there's, there's not words.

Jack O'Kelley was captain of his high school football and lacrosse teams. He was studying business at Georgia, and was a popular member of his fraternity.

Bill Whitaker: Have you been able to piece together why take a pill? Was this his first time?

Angela King: I think he was just out having a good time and making, made a stupid mistake.

Mike O'Kelley: You know, the experimental days of taking drugs in college are over. They're all-- you know, all the pills are laced with fentanyl.

  • "They die too quickly:" Reversing a fentanyl overdose with naloxone

Mike and Angela found text messages between Jack and a drug dealer. He bought what he thought was Xanax, Oxycodone, and a gram of cocaine. But the death certificate states fentanyl was the cause of death.

Mike O'Kelley: He wasn't seeking fentanyl.

Angela King: He made a really bad decision. Not one that should have taken his life, though.

Bill Whitaker: Sounds like you've had a crash course in learning about fentanyl.

Mike O'Kelley: Absolutely.

Angela King: Absolutely. Which is shocking to me because at the rate that fentanyl is killing people in this country, it is absolutely ludicrous that this is not on the front page of every newspaper and every news broadcast daily.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid – a chemical cousin to morphine – originally designed for hospital patients in extreme pain. Now it is in cities and towns in all 50 states. Frequent users heat up fentanyl powder and inhale it. But more often it's sold in pill form – deliberately made to look like real prescription drugs – the one on the left contains fentanyl. Just two milligrams, an amount that fits on the tip of a pencil, can kill.

Anne Milgram: The cartels don't sell fentanyl as fentanyl. They hide it in other drugs like cocaine or methamphetamine or heroin. They make it into these fake pills that look identical to pharmaceutical drugs that Americans would recognize, like Oxy or Xanax, Percocet, Adderall. It will be a very massive high that is very short. And that person, they're betting if they survive, will come back again and again and again to buy more.

Bill Whitaker and Anne Milgram

Three years ago, Anne Milgram – a former attorney general of New Jersey – took over the Drug Enforcement Administration. Since then fentanyl has claimed more than 200,000 American lives, although deaths appear to be leveling off.

Anne Milgram: Fentanyl is impacting every part of the United States. It's impacting our communities. It's impacting our kids. It's impacting our economy. One of the things that I've learned over the last few years that really stays with me is every single week we lose 22 teens between the ages of 14 and 18.

Bill Whitaker: Every week.

Anne Milgram: Every single week we're basically losing a high school class somewhere in America.

She started putting pictures of people who died from fentanyl in the lobby of DEA headquarters, a daily reminder of the drug's catastrophic impact.

Anne Milgram: We're losing a generation.

Bill Whitaker: That's what this says.

Anne Milgram: Yes. You can see it so clearly when you look, and you see Americans from all walks of life, all states, all communities, young and old, every background possible. We have folks in military uniforms, we've got babies.

Bill Whitaker: Oh my God!

Bill Whitaker: Someone who just picks up the pill that a parent dropped.

Anne Milgram: Yes.

The DEA is part of the Department of Justice and conducts intelligence gathering and counter-drug operations worldwide. Milgram oversees 10,000 employees.

Anne Milgram: As complex and as massive a problem as this is, it's also not a whodunit. We know who's responsible. It's the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco Cartel that are based in Mexico. They dominate and control the entire global fentanyl supply chain, starting in China, going to Mexico, coming into the United States.

Milgram told us this crisis began 10 years ago… when the cartels started to wrestle control of the supply chain from China and began making fentanyl in clandestine labs in Mexico.

Bill Whitaker: So these two drug cartels from our neighbor, from Mexico, are responsible for almost 70,000 American deaths a year?

Anne Milgram: Yes.

Bill Whitaker: How do you fight that?

Anne Milgram: We've taken action over the last three years against every single part of that global supply chain, charging Chinese nationals with selling fentanyl precursors, charging and indicting, investigating, members of these cartels at every level and then finally taking hundreds of millions of deadly doses of fentanyl off American streets. And we are making progress but there's so much more that needs to be done.

Troy Miller: The majority the fentanyl that we're seeing, about 90%-plus is coming in passenger vehicles.

Bill Whitaker and Troy Miller, a 30-year veteran of U.S. Customs and Border Protectio.

Commissioner Troy Miller, a 30-year veteran of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, told us almost all the fentanyl coming into the country is smuggled through legal ports of entry like here at San Ysidro, between San Diego and Tijuana. It's the busiest land port in the Western Hemisphere.

Bill Whitaker: What percentage of the smuggled fentanyl do you think you are catching?

Troy Miller: You know, Bill, I, I don't know what percentage we're, we're catching. But I can tell you we've seized 27,000 pounds of fentanyl in fiscal year of 2023.

Miller took us for a bird's eye view to see the magnitude of the challenge.

Troy Miller: So this, this is the wall. It comes right up to the port of entry and resumes here. That's Mexico.

More than 60,000 cars snake through 34 lanes 24-7. Officers have a minute or less to decide who gets a second look, and they only have the resources to search 8% of the cars. Dogs trained to sniff out fentanyl are some of their best assets. The cartels are constantly adapting, for example, hiding pills in gas tanks to mask the scent.

Troy Miller: So we're in the seizure vault...

Commissioner Miller showed us rack after rack of seized drugs locked in this massive vault. For security reasons, we agreed not to divulge its location.

Seizure vault

Bill Whitaker: So explain to me why the smugglers would use the busiest port as their main smuggling route. I mean, it seems counterintuitive. Why not do it some place much less conspicuous? Why not come across the desert?

Troy Miller: Well, in the San Diego field office, we're seeing 200,000 people a day. Every one of these 200,000 people is presenting themselves as a legitimate traveler.

We were astonished to learn two-thirds of the people arrested smuggling fentanyl are American citizens paid by the cartels.

Troy Miller: We've seen terrible trends. We've seen high school and middle schoolers smuggling fentanyl and dropping it off to a cartel member at a high school.

Bill Whitaker: Do you have the budget and the manpower you need?

Troy Miller: I've been very clear that Customs and Border Protection needs more officers. We need more agents. We need more intel research specialists to distill that information.

We asked him about the bipartisan border bill killed by the Senate at the urging of former President Donald Trump. It would have provided 1,500 new border and customs officers and 100 high tech detection machines.

Bill Whitaker: …The bill had money for much of the stuff you're talking about. Is the political inaction, is that costing lives?

Troy Miller: Again what I can say is we need more resources to do our jobs. And we need to all get on the same page and tackle this together.

Sherri Hobson saw the fentanyl crisis coming. As an assistant U.S. attorney in San Diego she prosecuted Mexican cartel cases for 30 years before retiring in 2020.

Sherri Hobson: Cartels are very business-oriented. They look for profit. They look for perpetual power. They're institutionalized.

Bill Whitaker: So it sounds like you're saying they're very sophisticated.

Sherri Hobson: They are. They do their homework. They do their analysis.

former assistant U.S. attorney in San Diego, Sherri Hobson

She says the cartels' move into fentanyl was entirely predictable. When the U.S. opioid crisis triggered a crackdown on the drug industry and many companies were sued by ravaged communities, the supply of legal opioids dried up – but the demand from Americans addicted to the drugs did not.

Sherri Hobson: It's very strange to think that the pharmaceutical industry basically set the table for the Mexican cartels to come in and dominate.

Bill Whitaker: That's, that's, that's incredible.

Sherri Hobson: It is. So I think what happened was they said, "You know what? We have an open market. We have millions of people that are addicted to Oxycodone. We can do fentanyl. We can create these counterfeit pills and we can, we can sell them."

Bill Whitaker: So the Mexican cartels just filled this vacuum.

Sherri Hobson: Filled the void, filled the vacuum.

Anne Milgram: So the opioid epidemic definitely started this arc that we're on.

The head of the DEA, Anne Milgram, agrees the U.S. drug industry bears a lot of blame for igniting the crisis, but says social media companies are fueling it today. The companies say they're taking steps to combat this.

Anne Milgram: And what's happening on social media? The cartels use it to organize themselves to get individuals who will carry the drugs across the border from Mexico, to post ads for drugs, and to sell drugs. Whether it's SnapChat, Instagram, TikTok, there are drugs being sold there every single day.

And seven out of 10 of those counterfeit pills the DEA tests have a potentially deadly dose of fentanyl. Angela King and Mike O'Kelley say that's information every American needs to know.

Mike O'Kelley: It's a war. It's, it's a new drug war. And that drug war is totally different than anything we've ever dealt with before 'cause now we're losing our young ones. Whatever the government's trying to do, I'm glad they're doing something. It just doesn't seem to be enough.

MoSCoW Prioritization

What is moscow prioritization.

MoSCoW prioritization, also known as the MoSCoW method or MoSCoW analysis, is a popular prioritization technique for managing requirements.

The acronym MoSCoW represents four categories of initiatives: must-have, should-have, could-have, and won’t-have, or will not have right now. Some companies also use the “W” in MoSCoW to mean “wish.”

What is the History of the MoSCoW Method?

Software development expert Dai Clegg created the MoSCoW method while working at Oracle. He designed the framework to help his team prioritize tasks during development work on product releases.

You can find a detailed account of using MoSCoW prioritization in the Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM) handbook . But because MoSCoW can prioritize tasks within any time-boxed project, teams have adapted the method for a broad range of uses.

How Does MoSCoW Prioritization Work?

Before running a MoSCoW analysis, a few things need to happen. First, key stakeholders and the product team need to get aligned on objectives and prioritization factors. Then, all participants must agree on which initiatives to prioritize.

At this point, your team should also discuss how they will settle any disagreements in prioritization. If you can establish how to resolve disputes before they come up, you can help prevent those disagreements from holding up progress.

Finally, you’ll also want to reach a consensus on what percentage of resources you’d like to allocate to each category.

With the groundwork complete, you may begin determining which category is most appropriate for each initiative. But, first, let’s further break down each category in the MoSCoW method.

Start prioritizing your roadmap

Moscow prioritization categories.

Moscow

1. Must-have initiatives

As the name suggests, this category consists of initiatives that are “musts” for your team. They represent non-negotiable needs for the project, product, or release in question. For example, if you’re releasing a healthcare application, a must-have initiative may be security functionalities that help maintain compliance.

The “must-have” category requires the team to complete a mandatory task. If you’re unsure about whether something belongs in this category, ask yourself the following.

moscow-initiatives

If the product won’t work without an initiative, or the release becomes useless without it, the initiative is most likely a “must-have.”

2. Should-have initiatives

Should-have initiatives are just a step below must-haves. They are essential to the product, project, or release, but they are not vital. If left out, the product or project still functions. However, the initiatives may add significant value.

“Should-have” initiatives are different from “must-have” initiatives in that they can get scheduled for a future release without impacting the current one. For example, performance improvements, minor bug fixes, or new functionality may be “should-have” initiatives. Without them, the product still works.

3. Could-have initiatives

Another way of describing “could-have” initiatives is nice-to-haves. “Could-have” initiatives are not necessary to the core function of the product. However, compared with “should-have” initiatives, they have a much smaller impact on the outcome if left out.

So, initiatives placed in the “could-have” category are often the first to be deprioritized if a project in the “should-have” or “must-have” category ends up larger than expected.

4. Will not have (this time)

One benefit of the MoSCoW method is that it places several initiatives in the “will-not-have” category. The category can manage expectations about what the team will not include in a specific release (or another timeframe you’re prioritizing).

Placing initiatives in the “will-not-have” category is one way to help prevent scope creep . If initiatives are in this category, the team knows they are not a priority for this specific time frame.

Some initiatives in the “will-not-have” group will be prioritized in the future, while others are not likely to happen. Some teams decide to differentiate between those by creating a subcategory within this group.

How Can Development Teams Use MoSCoW?

Although Dai Clegg developed the approach to help prioritize tasks around his team’s limited time, the MoSCoW method also works when a development team faces limitations other than time. For example:

Prioritize based on budgetary constraints.

What if a development team’s limiting factor is not a deadline but a tight budget imposed by the company? Working with the product managers, the team can use MoSCoW first to decide on the initiatives that represent must-haves and the should-haves. Then, using the development department’s budget as the guide, the team can figure out which items they can complete.

Prioritize based on the team’s skillsets.

A cross-functional product team might also find itself constrained by the experience and expertise of its developers. If the product roadmap calls for functionality the team does not have the skills to build, this limiting factor will play into scoring those items in their MoSCoW analysis.

Prioritize based on competing needs at the company.

Cross-functional teams can also find themselves constrained by other company priorities. The team wants to make progress on a new product release, but the executive staff has created tight deadlines for further releases in the same timeframe. In this case, the team can use MoSCoW to determine which aspects of their desired release represent must-haves and temporarily backlog everything else.

What Are the Drawbacks of MoSCoW Prioritization?

Although many product and development teams have prioritized MoSCoW, the approach has potential pitfalls. Here are a few examples.

1. An inconsistent scoring process can lead to tasks placed in the wrong categories.

One common criticism against MoSCoW is that it does not include an objective methodology for ranking initiatives against each other. Your team will need to bring this methodology to your analysis. The MoSCoW approach works only to ensure that your team applies a consistent scoring system for all initiatives.

Pro tip: One proven method is weighted scoring, where your team measures each initiative on your backlog against a standard set of cost and benefit criteria. You can use the weighted scoring approach in ProductPlan’s roadmap app .

2. Not including all relevant stakeholders can lead to items placed in the wrong categories.

To know which of your team’s initiatives represent must-haves for your product and which are merely should-haves, you will need as much context as possible.

For example, you might need someone from your sales team to let you know how important (or unimportant) prospective buyers view a proposed new feature.

One pitfall of the MoSCoW method is that you could make poor decisions about where to slot each initiative unless your team receives input from all relevant stakeholders.

3. Team bias for (or against) initiatives can undermine MoSCoW’s effectiveness.

Because MoSCoW does not include an objective scoring method, your team members can fall victim to their own opinions about certain initiatives.

One risk of using MoSCoW prioritization is that a team can mistakenly think MoSCoW itself represents an objective way of measuring the items on their list. They discuss an initiative, agree that it is a “should have,” and move on to the next.

But your team will also need an objective and consistent framework for ranking all initiatives. That is the only way to minimize your team’s biases in favor of items or against them.

When Do You Use the MoSCoW Method for Prioritization?

MoSCoW prioritization is effective for teams that want to include representatives from the whole organization in their process. You can capture a broader perspective by involving participants from various functional departments.

Another reason you may want to use MoSCoW prioritization is it allows your team to determine how much effort goes into each category. Therefore, you can ensure you’re delivering a good variety of initiatives in each release.

What Are Best Practices for Using MoSCoW Prioritization?

If you’re considering giving MoSCoW prioritization a try, here are a few steps to keep in mind. Incorporating these into your process will help your team gain more value from the MoSCoW method.

1. Choose an objective ranking or scoring system.

Remember, MoSCoW helps your team group items into the appropriate buckets—from must-have items down to your longer-term wish list. But MoSCoW itself doesn’t help you determine which item belongs in which category.

You will need a separate ranking methodology. You can choose from many, such as:

  • Weighted scoring
  • Value vs. complexity
  • Buy-a-feature
  • Opportunity scoring

For help finding the best scoring methodology for your team, check out ProductPlan’s article: 7 strategies to choose the best features for your product .

2. Seek input from all key stakeholders.

To make sure you’re placing each initiative into the right bucket—must-have, should-have, could-have, or won’t-have—your team needs context.

At the beginning of your MoSCoW method, your team should consider which stakeholders can provide valuable context and insights. Sales? Customer success? The executive staff? Product managers in another area of your business? Include them in your initiative scoring process if you think they can help you see opportunities or threats your team might miss.

3. Share your MoSCoW process across your organization.

MoSCoW gives your team a tangible way to show your organization prioritizing initiatives for your products or projects.

The method can help you build company-wide consensus for your work, or at least help you show stakeholders why you made the decisions you did.

Communicating your team’s prioritization strategy also helps you set expectations across the business. When they see your methodology for choosing one initiative over another, stakeholders in other departments will understand that your team has thought through and weighed all decisions you’ve made.

If any stakeholders have an issue with one of your decisions, they will understand that they can’t simply complain—they’ll need to present you with evidence to alter your course of action.

Classical & Christian Education for All Learners

Why montessori at jubilee learn more here, jubilee’s mission is to educate children of all abilities, in partnership with parents – to discern truth, goodness, and beauty in god’s creation – and joyfully discover their fullest potential..

Our program teaches students of all abilities through solid Christian pedagogy. The Jubilee School  is a direct outworking of our theology, combining conventional and unique learners in a Christian & Classical Pre-Kindergarten - 12th grade program.

We offer Christian & Classical teaching as input, but we expect output to vary based on the gifting of each student.

"We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves."  Romans 15:1

christian education for all students

Community of learners, personalized instruction.

Philippians 2:4 "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

We believe that children with special needs should not be treated as outcasts. Rather, conventional learners and children with cognitive difficulties should learn together in a harmonized environment.

Age-Integrated

Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."

Grade sequencing works for the average child, but what child is average?  Each child is unique with different strengths and weaknesses. By learning together and progressing through milestones, students are not "held back" but instead move forward with each academic concept they master.

I Corinthians 14:7 "If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played?"

We pair both conventional learners and unique learners with gifted teachers to ensure personalized education in the context of community.

Application & Tuition

Logos School (Moscow, Idaho):

Please note that there are numerous schools named “Logos” in different states.  This is Logos School in Moscow Idaho – NOT AN ONLINE SCHOOL , not Logos Christian Academy, not Logos Classical, not Logos Online School (also in Moscow Idaho), etc. Thank you!

Admissions Status:

  • The Application for this coming year, 2024/25 (school year beginning August 2024) is open now.
  • For the year after, school year 2025/26  (starting August 2025), the Application opens on the first day of school, August 2024 (one year early) at 6 am.
  • Preschoolers must be age 4 by June 1st (2.5 months before the start of school).  If younger, you may apply, but will be accepted only on a space-available basis, after other applicants have been admitted.
  • If your child has attended Logos previously, or if you’ve previously filled out an application, you will not need to create a new application, unless it’s been many years.  Contact Logos to reactivate your old application.  Current Logos students reenroll in the spring, and do not need to reapply .
  • International students:  We do not accept applications for foreign students requiring an F1 visa or I-20 form.  We can accept dependents with F-2 visas.

Application for New Students (including siblings of current students)

Logos accepts applications throughout the academic year.  The process & timeline for new applicants is as follows:

  • The first day of school: Applications for the following year are accepted (i.e. one year in advance).
  • All year long: Applications may be submitted for the current school year or the next school year. The date of application will be recorded, but will not necessarily determine acceptance or priority.
  • January 10 – 31: Re-enrollment of current students for the coming year.
  • February 1 and after:  Submitted applications for grades K-12 will be processed starting in February.  (note that applications may be submitted starting in August, but will remain on file in the waiting pool until February).  PK applications may be processed earlier, since reenrollment is not a factor.  Logos will contact parents to set up an interview.

At Logos School, we seek to provide a rich and nourishing environment where all may flourish. The spirit of unity on campus is fostered by parents who are actively involved, caring teachers who love their students and enjoy their work, and students who are growing in their understanding of Christ and the world they share together. At Logos School, we consider ourselves an extension of the family… a dynamic community of faith.

Logos School requires that “a t least one parent of each applicant must profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and, express belief in and agreement to the Logos School statement of faith, and consistently attend a local Christian church. In addition to this, parents should have a clear understanding of the Biblical philosophy and purpose of Logos School.” (see the Parent Handbook )

Academics:

Applications for Kindergarten through 8 th grade will be given an entrance exam. Notification of acceptance or denial will be mailed to each applicant. Accepted applicants will receive all appropriate information for preparing for school including financial arrangements. If there is no space, the student’s name will be placed in a waiting pool for that grade.

A student’s prior academic achievements will certainly be considered in the application process, but only for grade placement, not as the primary determinant for acceptance. Again, we are seeking to enroll those students who, because of their family’s educational, behavioral, and spiritual priorities, will most benefit from what Logos School can offer them.

Tuition and Financial Information:

The application fee is $100.  If you are accepted, you enroll through FACTS and pay the $150 per child enrollment fee to confirm acceptance and save the seat.  If you anticipate a problem paying the enrollment fee please contact Matt Whitling, Superintendent, to work out an alternative arrangement.

DETERMINING EACH FAMILY'S AFFORDABILITY

How much does it cost to attend The Presentation School? Well, it depends.

Presentation is committed to affordability and economic diversity. Our ability to attract students from a broad array of economic backgrounds helps us provide a richer educational and social experience for our school community. The Presentation School’s administration works with an external platform to fairly determine affordability for each family.

Our admissions process considers three key areas when welcoming new families:

  • Educational mission alignment,
  • Appropriate academic placement and support, and
  • Family affordability.

During the admissions process, all prospective families will complete a Tuition Determination Application to set the rate of tuition for each family. Your Tuition Determination Application will not exceed the year’s annual top tuition. This model allows a Presentation education to be accessible to a wide range of economic circumstances.

Tuition Determination Policy

The Board of Trustees and school administration of The Presentation School are committed to providing affordable tuition to our families. The Presentation School’s Tuition Determination Committee (TDC) is dedicated to four principles when making and communicating tuition assistance decisions - Confidentiality, Objectivity, Fairness, and Equity.

TPS utilizes the FACTS platform to help determine affordability for all prospective families. TPS requires parents to complete the online FACTS application each year. Once the application is complete, FACTS verifies the applicant’s information and determines the suggested financial affordability level based on the submitted data and documentation parents provide in the application. In the case of divorced or separated parents, both parents are required to submit an application via FACTS.

The School, through TDC, reviews the application, the FACTS recommendation, and determines the tuition rate for each family. In some cases, the school may require additional information from families to best determine the tuition.

Prospective families who are considering enrollment, please contact the admissions office for more information on the tuition determination process.

Tuition Determination Policy Criteria

The Presentation School is committed to four principles when making and communicating tuition assistance decisions – Confidentiality, Objectivity, Fairness, and Equity.

Tuition Determination is based primarily on the following criteria:

  • Family’s affordability as reported by FACTS Financial Application
  • Review and interpretation of tax returns and other requested supporting documentation.
  • The student’s ability to contribute to and benefit from the school program and community.
  • The family’s ability to contribute to and benefit from the school program and community.
  • Tuition Determination will be set before finalizing the enrollment agreement.

For information regarding our tuition payment schedule, please reach out to our Business Officer.

The Presentation School is proud to be a participating school with the BASIC Fund, a 501(c) 3 organization advancing educational equity for qualifying families through scholarships. To learn more about eligibility requirements click here.

Top Level Tuition Rate

The Presentation School’s tuition and fees are set annually by the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees also allocates significant funds to support the Tuition Determination Application process.
