HEC Opens MS and PhD Scholarships for Top 100 Universities of The World

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited applications from Pakistani and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) nationals for MS and Ph.D. scholarships to study in Top 100 QS-ranked universities across the world.

The applications have been invited under “Advanced Skills Development through International Scholarship Program” an initiative of the Prime Minister’s Knowledge Economy Task Force.

Here are the important details one should know about the HEC’s MS and Ph.D. scholarships.

Fields of Study

The Advanced Skills Development through International Scholarship Program offers scholarships in the following areas:

• Computer Science (CS)
• Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Data Sciences (DS)
• Software Engineering (SE)
• Information Technology (IT)

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be Pakistani and AJK nationals.
• The maximum age for MS scholarships on the closing date is 35 years while the maximum age for Ph.D. scholarships on the closing is 40 years.
• For MS scholarships, applicants must possess a relevant first-class BS/MSc qualification (16 years education) by the closing date.
• They must have a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 2.50 out of 4.0 in the final degree for MS scholarships.
• For Ph.D. scholarships, applicants must possess a relevant MS/MPhil qualification (18 years education) by the closing date.
• They must have a minimum of 75% marks or CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 in the final degree for Ph.D. scholarships.
• Applicants can have a maximum of two second divisions throughout their educational career. However, their last degree must be in the first division.
• Result awaiting applicants and those availing any other scholarship are ineligible to apply.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to apply through the HEC’s Scholarship Portal . Applications sent through any other mode will not be entertained.

They also need to deposit Rs. 500 (non-refundable) as HEC’s Aptitude Test (HAT) fee in Account No. 17427900133401, Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Shalimar Recording Company Branch, Islamabad. Deposits can be made online through all HBL branches across Pakistan.

Applicants are also required to upload the scanned copy of the original bank receipt along with their application on the HEC’s Scholarship Portal.

It is also advised that applicants provide all supporting documents in the required format. Otherwise, their applications will be rejected.

The last date to apply for the Advanced Skills Development through International Scholarship Program through HEC Scholarship Portal is 25 October 2021.

The Pakistani Higher Education Commission (HEC) scholarships

Pakistan is financing three scholarship programmes implemented by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Their objective is to double access to higher education for young Pakistanis within 10 years.

A political desire to open up to the world

Pakistan is the sixth most populated country. One third of its inhabitants are less than thirty years old and the literacy rate barely exceeds 58%, making access to education a major challenge. Confronted by the challenges of modernity, Pakistani authorities have an entire generation to train, from primary school to Doctorate level.

Created in 2002 and placed under the supervision of the Pakistani Cabinet, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) acts as a Ministry of Higher Education. Its objective is to double participation in higher education in 10 years, increasing from 7% to 15% between 2010 and 2020; in 2015, it was still at just 9%. In order to achieve the 15% objective, the HEC concluded bilateral agreements with 14 countries for the reception of Pakistani scholarship recipients. Three programmes have been established to fund these Pakistani students abroad. France is receiving more people from these programmes than any other country.

Three scholarship programs

The ms leading to phd programme - from the master's to the doctorate.

Managed by Campus France since 2009, the Ms leading to PhD cross-disciplinary scholarship programme has enabled the integration of approximately 180 Pakistani scholarship recipients in French educational institutes. It mainly concerns economics-management, medicine and the engineering sciences, from the start of the second year of a Master's degree through to the Doctorate.

The engineering programme: scientific excellence

The engineering programme is dedicated to the engineering sciences and involves Masters 2, Doctorates and engineering degrees. It is aimed at the best Pakistani students from the most prestigious Pakistani institutes of higher education in the country, such as the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) in Karachi and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

The Balochistan programme for a disadvantaged province

The biggest, but also economically the poorest, region in Pakistan, Balochistan benefits from special support structure. By improving access to higher education for the most deserving students in Balochistan, the goal of the programme is to encourage their careers and thus accelerate the region's social and economic development.

Campus France's reception of and support for scholarship recipients

In France Campus France coordinates the scholarship programmes established by the HEC. The agency accompanies and monitors the scholarship recipients by:

• paying a monthly allowance of 1,000 Euros, with the possibility of an additional sum from the host institute or Doctoral school;  
• providing placement assistance for Master 2 or Doctoral programmes;  
• providing transfer from Paris to the site of the institute they will be studying elsewhere in France;  
• searching for and reserving university accommodation;  
• reimbursing enrolment fees;  
• paying health insurance and liability insurance costs for those over 28; reimbursement of social security and complementary health insurance expenses for those under 28;  
• providing academic support in close cooperation with the host institute, and sending an annual report to the HEC.

HEC Overseas Scholarships for PhD & MS/M.Phil (Phase-III, Batch-3)

Higher Education Commission (HEC)  has invited applications for HEC Overseas Scholarships from outstanding Pakistani/AJK nationals for the award of PhD and MS/Mphil scholarships. HEC Overseas Scholarships for PhD are being offered in selected fields, whereas MS/Mphil scholarships are being offered in Engineering Technology.

Scholarships will be awarded for Spring-Fall(2022) session in HEC identified top-ranked foreign universities of advanced countries. Application Deadline is May 30, 2021 .

Eligibility Criteria for HEC Overseas Scholarships for PhD & MS/M.Phil (Phase-III, Batch-3)

• e a Pakistani/AJK national
• For PhD scholarships, candidates must have a minimum qualification of MS/MPhil/ME or equivalent (18 years) before the closing date  ( May 30,2021)
• For MS/M. Phil scholarships in Engineering Technology, Candidates must have a minimum of sixteen years of education and should be Registered with National Technology Council (NTC), Pakistan. (  http://www.ntc-hec.org.pk/  )
• Maximum one-second division throughout the academic career prior to the final degree.
• Candidates must have a minimum CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 in semester system or first division (in the annual system) in MS/MPhil/ME/Equivalent degree.
• 40 years for full-time regular Faculty Members of Public Sector Universities/Colleges and employees of the Public Sector R & D organizations registered with Pakistan Council for Science & Technology (PCST)
• 35 years for all others
• Must have minimum 70% marks in a valid HEC Aptitude Test (HAT). HEC will consider best HAT score of the last two years for short-listing purpose.   
• Must not be availing any other scholarship:

Important Note:  The Applicants provisionally or finally selected in any of the HEC scholarships scheme in the past are required to obtain NO Objection Certificate (NOC) from relevant HEC-Scholarship Section before submission of their application.

1) Copy of this NOC must be emailed at  [email protected]  before closing date of     application submission i.e  May 30, 2021.

2) Application submitted by any such candidate without obtaining NOC may be rejected at any stage of selection/award process”

HEC-Aptitude Test :

Education Testing Council (ETC) Pakistan will conduct HEC Aptitude Test (HAT) on  JUNE-2021  (tentatively). For more information, keep in touch with the registered email/ HEC Overseas Phase-3 website      Last Date of Receipt of Applications: Applicants must be submitted online via HEC e-portal (­­­­­­­eportal.hec.gov.pk) by, SUNDAY , May 30 , 2021 .

Please do not send a printed copy of the online application form. Only shortlisted applicants will be advised to provide a signed printed copy of the online application form along with necessary documents Bank Deposit Slip:  Original online deposit slip OR ATM transfer slip of Rs 300/- (non–refundable) as application processing fee in favor of DG Finance, Fee can be deposited in Account Number  1742-79001334-01 , Habib Bank Limited, Shalimar Recording Company Branch, Islamabad Pakistan through any bank. • Applicants are required to submit an online application via HEC e-portal (­­­­­­­eportal.hec.gov.pk).
• Original online deposit slip OR ATM transfer slip of  Rs 300/-  (non–refundable) as application processing fee in favour of DG Finance, HEC must be uploaded on HEC e-portal. Fee can be deposited in Account Number  1742-79001334-01 , Habib Bank Limited, Shalimar Recording Company Branch, Islamabad Pakistan through any bank.

Scholarships will be awarded under the following two categories:

Category-1: (Attached/Faculty Development):  Around 2/3 scholarships will be awarded under this category for the development of future faculty of Pakistani University. Candidates interested under this category are required to opt identified Pakistani universities of their choice for job interview/placement in the online application form. Shortlisted candidates will have to pass the employment selection process of Pakistani Universities of their choice for further process toward the award of scholarship. On return after successful completion of Ph.D. applicant has to serve in the same University for a period of 5(five) consecutive years.

Category-2: (Unattached/Open Merit):  Around 1/3 scholarships will be awarded under this category for the development of human resources in the national priority areas. These applicants will have to serve either in parent organization or other organization preferably in any University/R&D organization of Pakistan, for a period of 5(five) consecutive years.

Important Note:

• Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of Government Approved provincial quota.
• Merit will be drawn on the basis of valid HEC Aptitude test scores separately for both categories.
• Candidates are required to opt for foreign countries/universities of their choice in the online application form. HEC reserves the right to re-allocate any Country/University to the candidate. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews and the admission process.
• Candidates are required to make sure that their field of the subject is being offered in their choice of Country/University, otherwise, the candidate will not be considered for an interview/scholarship.
• Candidates are required to fulfill the requirement of the Host University to secure admission which may include International GRE, TOFEL, etc. Candidates are advised to appear in these tests before the interview/admission.
• Applicants are required to fill in the information through an online application process. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of online data/information provided by the applicant. In case any information is found to be misrepresented at any stage; the application process will be terminated.
• Awardees will have to execute a bond with HEC/Respective Pakistani University to serve for a period of five years immediately after completing PhD study. Request for change of University for the purpose of service bond will not be entertained at any stage.
• The Applicants provisionally or finally selected in any of the HEC scholarship schemes in the past are required to obtain a NO Objection Certificate (NOC) from the relevant HEC-Scholarship Section before submission of their application. Copy of this NOC must be emailed at [email protected] before the closing date of application submission i.e May 30, 2021. Application submitted by any such candidate without obtaining NOC may be rejected at any stage of selection/award process”
• NO NEED TO SEND/SUBMIT HARDCOPIES OF THE APPLICATION FORM AND EDUCATIONAL
• Applicants are advised to check all details of this scholarship scheme before filing/submitting the online application form. Requests for amendment will not be entertained after submission of the online application.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Question: Is GAT-General test conducted by NTS applicable for these scholarships?

Answer:                       No, GAT-General Test Conducted by NTS is not applicable for these scholarships.

Question:  Which test is applicable for award of these scholarships?

                                    Only HAT organized by Education Testing Council is acceptable test for the award of these scholarships. Education Testing Council (ETC) arranges HAT test for eligible applicants for different scholarship schemes of HEC. ETC will arrange HAT test in June, 2021 (Tentatively). Validity of HAT test is 2 years, so, previous 2 years best HAT score will be considered for shortlisting.    

Question: Am I eligible to apply?

Answer:                       Please read the following eligibility criteria carefully and if you meet the criteria then you are eligible to apply:

• Be a Pakistani/AJK national
• For PhD scholarships, candidates must have a minimum qualification of MS/MPhil/ME or equivalent (18 years) before the closing date.
• For MS/M. Phil scholarships in Engineering Technology, Candidates must have a minimum of sixteen years of education and should be registered with National Technology Council (NTC), Pakistan.
• Maximum age on the closing date:
• Must have minimum 70% marks in a valid HEC Aptitude Test (HAT). HEC will consider best HAT score of the last two years for short-listing purpose.   
• Must not be availing any other scholarship

Question :                  I affirm that I am availing/applied in HEC-Scholarship  can i apply in 

                                    Overseas Phase-3 , Batch-3 Scholarship?  

Ans:                          Yes , The Applicants provisionally or finally selected in any of the scholarship schemes in the past are required to obtain a NO Objection Certificate (NOC) from the relevant HEC-Scholarship Section before submission of their application. Copy of this NOC must be emailed at  [email protected]  before the closing date of application submission i.e  May 30, 2021 .

Application submitted by any such candidate without obtaining NOC may be rejected at any stage of selection/award process”

Question: Is this fully funded scholarship?

Answer:  This is a fully-funded scholarship that will cover Tuition fees, Maintenance Allowance, Health Insurance, and airfare for a specific period and rate as approved in PC-1/MOUs. However, HEC also has MoUs/DoUs with specific foreign universities that are offering tuition fee waivers to HEC candidates. Only those candidates will be awarded scholarships who will secure tuition fee/Maintenance scholarships from those universities/countries.

Question: Do these scholarships support MS Studies?

Answer:  These scholarships are offered in two distinct sorts; a) PhD in selected fields and b) MS/M. Phil in Engineering Technology. Scholarships awarded for PhD will not support MS/M. Phil studies. Only NTC Registered Candidates can submit application form (PEC) Registration is not valid for this Technology Based Scholarships Program.

Question: Are there any MS/M. Phil scholarships?

Answer:  Yes, there are exclusive MS/M. Phil Scholarships offered in the field of Engineering Technology. Only NTC Registered candidates are eligible to apply for this scholarships program for MS in Technology based subjects.

Question: What are disciplines/subjects offered for MS/M. Phil scholarships?

Answer:  MS/M. Phil Scholarships are offered only in the field of Engineering Technology. No other disciplines and subjects are offered under this scholarship scheme for MS/M. Phil studies

Question:  I have foreign Master degree (18 years), can I apply for this scholarship scheme?

Answer:                       You may apply, however, you have to provide HEC Equivalence Certificate of foreign degree and must be eligible to apply for direct Ph.D. program.

Question: What are “Attached” and “Unattached” categories?

Answer:                        Category-1:  (Attached/Faculty Development): Around 2/3 scholarships will be awarded under this category for the development of existing and future faculty of Pakistani public sector Universities. Candidates interested under this category are required to opt Pakistani universities of their choice for job interview/placement from the list of universities as per their discipline/subject wise demand. Shortlisted candidates will have to pass the employment selection process of Pakistani universities of their choice for further process toward the award of scholarship. Existing Faculty members of participating and other Pakistani universities are required to apply for this scholarship scheme and have to follow rest of the process including HAT.

Category-2:  (Unattached/Open): Around 1/3 scholarships will be awarded under this category for the development of human resources in the national priority areas. These applicants don’t need to get appointment in participating universities. However, they are required to apply for this scholarship scheme and have to follow rest of the process including HAT.  

Question: What disciplines and subjects are offered in Category-1 (attached)?

Category-1 Scholarships will be awarded in specific disciplines/subject areas for each participating university. The institution wise list of disciplines/ subjects is available on  HEC Website . The candidate may choose up to three universities. Candidates are required to indicate the Pakistani universities of their choice for job interview and placement in the online application form. HEC reserves the right to re-allocate any university to the candidate. Only short listed candidates will be called for interviews.

Question: What disciplines and subjects are offered in Category-2 (unattached)?

Category-2 scholarships will be awarded in National Priority Areas/Subjects identified by HEC. A list of approved disciplines is available on HEC website

Question: I am regular faculty member of Public University in Pakistan and after PhD want to serve in my university. Under which category do I have to apply?

Answer: If candidate wants to serve in his/her own Public Sector University as a faculty and position is also demanded by university in his/her subject then applicant has to apply and compete under “Attached Category”.

On the other hand, if there is no demand of his/her university then applicant has to apply on “Unattached Category” and if he/she will be selected then he/she has to get study leave and after PhD will have to serve his/her own university for at least 5 years on your previous position.

Besides, if a candidate will be selected by any other opted HEC identified university on “Attached Category” as per their demanded position then he/she has to resign from their current university and have to join the other university before proceeding abroad and after completion of PhD will have to serve in that university for 5 years.

Question:                      While filling the education section my university department & degree program is not in the drop down box of the system?

Answer:                       Please consult your university Focal person/ Registrar to register your degree program in Pakistan Qualification Register in HEC so that program may be included in the online portal.

Question: My discipline has been selected automatically in application which is not correct. What should I do?

Answer:                       Classification of subjects and their disciplines have been incorporated in the Pakistan Qualification Register (PQR) by the degree awarding institutes themselves. You will be required to contact your university authorities or Attestation & Accreditation Division of HEC for any change/updation.

Question:                      Can I get admission in any university of the world?

Answer: NO, you have to get admission in HEC identified universities with whom HEC has signed MoUs/DoUs and the university must be in top 500 ranking. 

Question: I do not have admission letter/supervisor acceptance from HEC identified country/university, Can I apply”

Answer:                       Yes, you may apply. Admission letter/supervisor acceptance letter is not mandatory at this stage. Only those candidates will be asked to secure admission/supervisor acceptance who will come on merit and at least 1-2 semesters will be given to get admission/Supervisor Acceptance letter.

Question: I have admission/offer in HEC identified Country/University, do I have to appear in HAT test?

Answer: Applicants must have to appear in the HAT test

Question:                      I have admission/offer in the HEC identified Country/University, do still I need to apply under this scholarship scheme?

Answer: Yes, you have to apply and compete to secure scholarship.

Question: I am already doing PhD in HEC identified Foreign Country/University, do still I have to go through the whole selection process?

Answer:                       Yes, you have to go through the whole selection process.

Question: How should I know that my subject is falling under which discipline?

Answer:                       List of approved disciplines/subjects is available on HEC-Overseas website.

Question:       I am already availing HEC/Government Scholarship for MS/PhD studies. Am I eligible to apply in this Scholarship scheme?

Answer:                The Applicants provisionally or finally selected in any of the HEC scholarships scheme in the past are required to obtain NO Objection Certificate (NOC) from relevant HEC-Scholarship Section before submission of their application. Copy of this NOC must be emailed at  [email protected]  before closing date of application submission i.e May 30, 2021.

Question:                    I was selected under another scholarship of HEC but I did not avail that, so, what should I do?

Answer:                       Candidates who applied under any other scholarship scheme but either not availed or withdrawn, must ensure to obtain NOC/Permission from the respective Scholarship section before submitting their applications for this scholarship. Such candidates who will not submit their applications with proper NOC, their application for a scholarship will not be entertained and the candidacy will be withdrawn from further scholarship process at any stage.

Question:     If I am selected, will I be required to submit the Agreement and other related legal documents, to serve in Pakistan?

Answer:              YES.

Question:     Is international GRE-General /Subject score acceptable?

Answer:                   No, International GRE-General/Subject is not acceptable for the award of these scholarships. However, the foreign host university may require for admission purpose

Question:  Can public/private sector employees apply without informing their parent department?

Answer:                       Applicant has to apply through the proper channel, however, an advance copy of the application can be forwarded to HEC. 

Question:    How can I fill out the online application form?

Answer:                       Applicants are required to submit online application via HEC e-portal

(­­­­­­­eportal.hec.gov.pk). For users who have got their Degree Attested from HEC or already created a common profile at HEC E-portal, please use your existing User ID (CNIC Number) and Password to apply. Applicants who have not created a common profile are required to create a common profile first through the online application process and then need to apply for Overseas Scholarships after following the required procedure. A hard copy of the application form and pre-requisite documents are not required at this stage. Moreover, please make sure to keep the Original deposit slip in your record. 

Question:    What is last date for the submission of application?

Answer:                       Applicants must submit an online application form via HEC e-portal (­­­­­­­eportal.hec.gov.pk) on or before 30 May 2021. Please do not send a printed copy of the online application form. Only shortlisted applicants will be advised to provide a signed printed copy of the online application form along with necessary documents

Question:     Where can I deposit application processing fee?

Answer:                Original online deposit slip OR ATM transfer slip of Rs 300/-(Three Hundred Only  (non–refundable) as application processing fee in favor of DG Finance, HEC must be uploaded on HEC e-portal. The fee can be deposited in Account Number 1742-79001334-01, Habib Bank Limited, Shalimar Recording Company Branch, Islamabad. Pakistan through any bank. Please make sure to keep the Original deposit slip in your record. 

Question:                      Can I edit or modify my submitted application for the scholarships 

                                     program?

Answer:            Applicants are advised to check all details of this scholarship scheme before filling/submitting the online application form. Requests for amendment will not be entertained after submission of the online application.

Introduction

The Indigenous PhD Scholarship program aims to cultivate a pool of highly qualified individuals across diverse fields in local universities. These scholars are expected to envision to enhance the research and development potential of both public and private institutions, thereby bolstering the local industrial sector. The program shall successfully instill a research culture in universities aligned with international norms, spanning disciplines such as Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, and Business & Management Sciences. This initiative will catalyze a significant transformation in the research landscape of universities of the Punjab. PHEC’s emphasis on indigenous scholarships stems from the belief that locally trained researchers, addressing national challenges, contribute directly growth and socio-economic development of Pakistan.

This program has been initiated with the overarching goal of providing our local students invaluable exposure opportunities, with a focus on enhancing the quality of their research through meaningful interactions with university faculties in their respective fields of study. Strategically designed, the program aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Enhance local scholars’ research caliber through exposure to international best practices in the universities of the Punjab.
• Foster advanced research skills and expertise among local PhD students.
• Encourage academic excellence with exposure to cutting-edge research and recent & advanced trends in Industry.
• Broaden horizons by exposing scholars to diverse international perspectives and approaches.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange and expand research networks on the slogan of, “think globally, act locally”.
• Hold domicile from any district of the Punjab.
• Hold an MS/ M.Phil. degree from foreign/local university with no 3rd division or grade D in entire academic career.
• Candidate applying for PhD scholarships must have minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the semester system), CGPA 3.75 (out of 5) or first division (in the annual system) in MS/MPhil/Equivalent degree.
• Have NOC and approved study leave from parent department, if employed.
• Be Maximum 40 years of age (45 year age limit for female) on the closing date.
• Scholarship is meant only for three years, and during the continuance of PhD the awardee shall not do/ join any other job.
• The awardee shall seek admission in any public/private sector university of the Punjab within 9-months after award of scholarship letter.

Applicants not Eligible:

• The candidates who are already availing any other, HEC/Government Scholarship for PhD are not eligible to apply.
• The candidates who are already doing PhD.

Eligible students may apply using the PHEC online application form. Complete set of documents must include:

• A Cover Letter
• Submit a fully filled printed copy of the online application form. Ensure that the application form is complete in all respects. To apply online, (Click Here) .
• NOC and Study Leave from department/organization (if employed)
• Photocopy of CNIC
• Candidate CV/Resume
• Photocopy of domicile
• Matriculation transcript and Degree
• Intermediate transcript and Degree
• BA/BSc transcript and Degree
• BS/ Master transcript and Degree
• M.Phil. transcript and Degree
•  PhD research proposal.  

Application complete in all respects be submitted to PHEC. It should be properly bound (ring/spiral/other). All annexures to the application set are to be properly labelled (tagged). Apply online at PHEC website till January 28, 2024 and hard copy of application complete in all respects must reach at the address given below on or before January 31, 2024 till 05:00 PM through registered post only. Application submitted by hand will not be accepted. Application form, SOPs of the program and related details are available at PHEC website: www.punjabhec.gov.pk.

Following are the terms & conditions of the award of scholarship and the acceptance of the award is an acknowledgement of these obligations:

• Financial support letter from Industry stating a financial support of Rs. 10, 000/- per month for at least three years for Science category.
• Scholarship is meant for full-time PhD and during the continuance of PhD the awardee shall not do/ join any other job
• The awardee shall seek admission in any public/ private sector university of the Punjab by his/her own within 9-months after award of scholarship letter
• The selected candidate will be required to enter into a bond with PHEC for completion their PhD studies at their parent University.
• The selected candidate shall avail the scholarship from the date of issue of award letter or before any such date specified by PHEC; otherwise the award will be cancelled automatically without intimation.
• The Punjab Higher Education Commission would monitor the progress of the candidate.
• Any cost beyond the defined limit shall be paid by the scholar him/herself.
• The person availing the scholarship would be required to sign a legal documents including surety bond co-signed by a guarantor requiring him/her to serve in the university/institution/organization in Pakistan for a period of five (05) years.
• Every document i.e. Deed of Agreement and/or other documents must be properly notarized i.e. the document must be registered by the Notary public maintained by him as notary register and the signature  of the executant must be obtained on the register and the no. of the registration must be mentioned along with the notary public stamp. Agreement/undertaking format will be provided to the candidate upon the selection.
• Bi-annual reports will be required through supervisor/Director Advance Studies countersigned by Registrar. The awardee will be responsible to submit the progress reports regularly. Next installment of stipend will be given by the university/institute upon the satisfactory performance report.
• PHEC reserves the right to postpone or cancel the scholarship at any stage without assigning any reason.

PHEC will provide funds for 36 months as per follows:

• Rs. 50,000/- per month (all inclusive) for the Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Business & Management Sciences etc. and; 
• Rs. 100,000/- per month (all inclusive) for the Sciences & Technology 
• Indigenous PhD Scholarship program

HEC Pakistan Cambridge Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to PhD applicants from Pakistan for study in any subject.  It is tenable at any College.

Offered in partnership with the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.

Join Merchant Navy: Pakistan Marine Academy Registration 2024

Pakistan Marine Academy announces the registration schedule for the Nautical and Engineering Cadet course 2024. Candidates interested in joining the Maritime industry/ merchant Navy may apply for PMA cadet courses on an open merit and self-finance basis. Applications can be submitted by September 06, 2024. 33 fully-funded scholarships are also offered for deserving students . So, you can start your career in the Merchant Navy without any charges by availing of a scholarship at Pakistan Marine Academy.

Application forms may be obtained from the PMA admission office or the Marine Academy's website. PKR 3500/- application processing fee is to be submitted in the form of a bank draft or pay the order. Candidates applying for self-finance seats need to submit the bank draft/pay order of PKR: 300,000/-

Pakistan Marine Academy Eligibility Criteria

• Unmarried male citizens of Pakistan
• Maximum 20 years of age on December 31, 2024
• Maximum 21 years of age for candidates from FATA/GB/AJK/Baluchistan
• FSc Pre-engineering or equivalent with minimum 55% marks
• Candidates awaiting results may also apply with a Hope certificate

Candidates will be provided 2 years of training at the academy. An associate degree in Ship management and marine engineering will be awarded by NED UET Karachi on the successful completion of the training period. Candidates will also be awarded Pre-SEA courses certified by IMO.

Incomplete applications shall be rejected. It is important to mention here that PMA bears no responsibility for the arrangement of post-education training or employment.

Pakistan Marine Academy Scholarships 2024

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs sponsors 33 need-based scholarships. The distribution of 33 need-based scholarships, sponsored by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs is as follows:

How to Apply for the Marine Academy Nautical and Engineering Cadet Course?

Candidates may register themselves by visiting the Pakistan Marine Academy Website http://www.marineacademy.edu.pk.

Prospectus & application forms are available from the PMA Admission Office and on the PMA website.

Submit the application form and a pay order/bank draft of Rs. 2500/- in favor of Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi, National Bank of Pakistan), PMA Branch Code-0239. Candidates applying under the Self-Finance Scheme (SFS) are to submit an additional pay order/bank draft for Rs. 300,000/- along with the application form. The SFS fee will be refunded if the case is selected on open merit.

Pakistan Marine Academy Selection Procedure

Entrance Tests will be conducted at Abbottabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad(A.IK), Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Sukkur through hired Testing Services.

A minimum of 45% is required to qualify for the entrance test.

Medical examination of short-listed candidates will be conducted at designated Army/Navy/PAF Hospitals.

Final selection will be done in order of merit which includes the final interview and PET (to be conducted at PMA).
