South Carolina Gov. McMaster signs bill outlawing transgender care for trans youth

gender reassignment mistakes

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster signed a bill banning certain medical care for transgender youth on Tuesday.

House Bill 4624, called the “Help not Harm” bill by legislators, prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from receiving gender reassignment surgery or any form of puberty-blocking or hormone therapy. The bill became effective immediately.

The bill also makes it a felony to perform gender reassignment surgery on those under the age of 18.

McMaster said a ceremonial bill signing with legislators would take place in the Upstate next week.

Under the new bill, minors can still be prescribed puberty blockers or hormone therapy to treat certain conditions like precocious puberty or endometriosis.

The new law also bans the South Carolina Medicaid program from providing coverage for gender reassignment surgery or hormone therapy to adults and minors.

The bill passed on the last day of the legislative session after the House agreed to accept the Senate’s changes to the law. The Senate's major change was an amendment requiring public school principals and vice principals to report students to parents if their child informed officials that they were identifying as a different gender from their assigned sex or using different pronouns.

Opponents of the amendment argued the measure would be a forced outing and worried it could put a child in an uncomfortable or potentially dangerous situation if their parent or guardian were not accepting. Supporters of the amendment said parents have a right to know if their children are identifying as transgender or requesting to change their pronouns.

Dr. Elizabeth Mack, president of the South Carolina chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics testified against the bill during a Senate medical affairs subcommittee in February, noting there are “less than 2,000 trans kids in the state.”

Still, supporters of the bill pushed for it, saying its intention was to protect children, while others say it does the opposite.

“We stand in grief and solidarity with LGBTQ South Carolinians, who are increasingly under attack by our own government,” Executive Director of ACLU South Carolina Jace Woodrum said in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter. “We can put to rest the notion that the government cares about limited government and personal freedom. With a stroke of a pen, he (McMaster) has chosen to insert the will of politicians into healthcare decisions, trample on the liberties of trans South Carolinians, and deny the rights of the parents of trans minors.”

South Carolina joins 25 states to outlaw transgender care for minors. It was also one of the only states that did not have a ban on transgender care in the South, with Virginia now being the lone Southern state with access.

Jan Morris was a trans pioneer — and a cruel parent

The reporter and travel writer’s gender reassignment caused a sensation in the 1970s, but at home she refused to answer her children’s questions. the jan they knew was neglectful, bullying and sexist, writes her daughter suki morys.

Jan Morris, as James, with wife Elizabeth and sons Henry and Mark

S ince her death in November 2020, at the age of 94, much has been written about Jan Morris’s writing. She was, after all, a most influential and wonderful writer. She was a reporter on The Times, famously breaking the story of Edmund Hillary reaching the top of Everest in 1953, before becoming a travel writer, using her vast vocabulary and love of place to expertly create vivid and imaginative accounts of her journeys. Absolutely nothing can negate that, and I am proud of her for all she achieved.

Much has been made, too, of her transition from male to female, but very little was ever written about the effect that had on her family. She was most reluctant to discuss that with anyone, and the

An Official List Of The Nippliest Moments In Oscars History

From Jennifer Lopez to Florence Pugh.

Florence Pugh arrives at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

In Hollywood, no awards show is more prestigious than the Oscars. The red carpet features the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry and, as a result, the dress code veers more conservative. Even attendees who typically embrace more daring looks will tone it down for the Academy Awards, prioritising elegant ensembles that translate well to primetime live TV.

All that said, there are some outliers. Since the ’90s, a select few daring dressers have pushed the boundaries of Oscars fashion. Unlike the Grammys, for example, where celebs free the nipple with abandon , at the Oscars, they definitely tone it down.

Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow, for example, both wore see-through garments in the early aughts. However, they went the high-fashion route, with voluminous skirts and subtly sheer tops. Zoë Kravitz, is another stylish example; In 2019, she wore nothing but a chainmail bra to the Oscars after-party.

This year’s award show, however, proved to be the nippliest leg of them all. Florence Pugh, queen of freeing the nipple , leaned into the sheer style at the Vanity Fair after-party and was joined by a host of other celebs ( photos here ). Let’s take a trip down memory to see how the brightest style heroes throughout history made freeing the nipple utterly Oscar-worthy.

Claire Danes’ Minimalist Co-Ords

Claire Danes at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Back in the ’90s, too few stars were taking risks on the Oscars red carpet. Danes, however, paved the way. To attend the 1997 Academy Awards, the actor discarded her bra and wore a fitted baby tee with a silken maxi skirt. It was minimalism at its finest.

Jennifer Lopez’s Two-Tone Glam

Jennifer Lopez arriving for the 73rd Academy Awards.

At the 2001 Academy Awards, Lopez donned this two-toned concoction from Chanel Haute Couture. The decadent number featured a gray chiffon bodice with an asymmetrical shoulder detail, while the billowing skirt was champagne-tinted. It was undeniably elegant.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Romantic Rocker Vibes

Gwyneth Paltrow during The 74th Annual Academy Awards.

The dress Paltrow wore to the 2002 Oscars would become infamous for its bare qualities . Regardless of critics’ negative reactions (and Paltrow saying she “should’ve worn a bra” in hindsight ), I can confidently say: the actor utterly slayed.

The punky look featured a mesh tank and a billowing skirt — and it was decidedly ahead of its time. Kendall Jenner all but recreated the look at the 2022 Met Gala two decades later.

Cameron Diaz’s Exposed Thong LBD

Cameron Diaz during The 72nd Annual Academy Awards - Vanity Fair Party.

Two decades before the exposed thong look would become ubiquitous, Cameron Diaz was ahead of the trend. She took the undies-forward look for a spin at the 2000 Vanity Fair after-party in a lacy LBD with a deep, deep neckline. It also happened to be completely sheer.

Zoë Kravitz’s Gilded Bra

Zoë Kravitz attends the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Radhika Jones.

At the 2019 Oscars after-party, Zoë Kravitz wore a black maxi skirt from Saint Laurent with a ’90s minimalist aesthetic. She paired it with something less low-key and a whole lot more daring: an itty-bitty halter bra.

The item in question was made out of 18-karat gold from the Tiffany & Co.’s Elsa Peretti collection — and is worth $24k.

Emily Ratajkowski’s Silver Number

Emily Ratajkowski attends the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Queen of see-through ensembles Emily Ratajkowski wore yet another diaphanous design at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar party . Save for two strategic seam placements that covered her nipples only, the metallic silver gown was utterly translucent, baring her taupe undies, too. I’ve included it on this list as an honorary mention, for obvious reasons.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Nipple Gems

Sabrina Carpenter attends the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

At the 2023 Vanity Fair party, Sabrina Carpenter wore a sheer dress that featured embellished nipple covers in the shape of flowers. Instead of freeing her own, she covered them in glimmering crystals. The effect was surprisingly elegant and reminiscent of an ancient Greek goddess.

Florence Pugh’s Delicate Peplum

Florence Pugh arrives at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Florence Pugh is the reigning queen of freeing the nipple . From fashion week to the Golden Globes red carpet , the Oppenheimer star is practically the face of the movement. Most recently, she took her nip-forward aesthetic to the 2024 Oscars after-party in a sheer peplum ensemble that was utterly decadent.

Anitta’s Glistening Gown

Anitta attends the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Radhika Jones.

Like Pugh, Anitta also bared breasts in a shimmery gunmetal gown that was practically transparent. She rocked the ubiquitous exposed undies trend with her strappy thong completely visible. Her dress is the glamorous combination of all 2024’s biggest trends.

Victoria Monét’s Florals

Victoria Monét attends the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Radhika Jones.

Also at the 2024 after-party, singer Victoria Monét joined the night’s nip-forward ranks. Her choice of black gown came equipped with a bustier that was sheer and sculptural. The translucent texture was balanced out by an opaque skirt, which featured a gilded floral print — a luxe touch.

19 Mistakes Women Often Make in Relationships

Posted: May 10, 2024 | Last updated: May 10, 2024

Love can be incredible, but no one said it was always easy, especially in the long term. In this article, we look at 19 common mistakes that women frequently make in relationships with men and how best to avoid them.

<p>Emotions can run high in an argument, for HSPs these emotions can take over their ability to control them. Reacting emotionally may make the argument go longer or burn hotter than needed and also result in overthinking and anxiety after the fact. <a href="https://brainmanager.io/blog/emotional/how-to-deal-with-conflict-as-a-highly-sensitive-person">Learning to deal</a> with conflict is crucial for HSPs.</p>

Trying to Change Him

Everyone has their own quirks that require compromise for a relationship to work. Trying to change your man’s core identity by dictating his interests, habits, friends, or dress sense is sure to leave him feeling unseen. Your individualities bring variety to your relationship, so instead of attempting to mold him into the version of him you want, show interest in the things he loves and be more accepting of any harmless habits that don’t match with yours.

<p>Narcissistic parents often dismiss or invalidate their children’s emotions, leading to difficulties recognizing and expressing emotions in adulthood. The lack of a genuine emotional connection with their parent can cause a deep-seated fear of vulnerability. It may also lead them to not understand other people’s emotions and become dismissive themselves.</p>

Overthinking Things

It may be a stereotype, but many men don’t think about things in as much detail as women do. Overthinking breeds unnecessary worry and distrust and create problems when there aren’t any. When we overanalyze our partner’s actions or words, we often read too much into the situation, causing unnecessary stress. Avoid making assumptions and ‘stewing’ over issues; communicate your concerns directly, and you may find nothing to worry about after all.

<p><span>Just as you enjoy spending time alone or with friends, personal space is important to your man too. Needing time apart doesn’t mean he loves you any less; rather, he values his individuality and the importance of maintaining other parts of his life. Viewing this as a threat to your relationship will only breed resentment and make him less likely to choose you. Avoid co-dependence and work towards a healthier, more balanced relationship.</span></p>

Crowding Him

Just as you enjoy spending time alone or with friends, personal space is important to your man too. Needing time apart doesn’t mean he loves you any less; rather, he values his individuality and the importance of maintaining other parts of his life. Viewing this as a threat to your relationship will only breed resentment and make him less likely to choose you. Avoid co-dependence and work towards a healthier, more balanced relationship.

<p><span>While certain extreme behavior may be unforgivable, most of us make mistakes and have moments of poor judgment or weakness. Continuously holding on to your man’s past errors is a toxic habit that can pollute an otherwise healthy relationship. Try to understand that people grow and learn from their mistakes and that forgiveness is a vital part of all long-term partnerships. By moving forward when necessary, you’ll help build trust and understanding. </span></p>

Holding The Past Against Him

While certain extreme behavior may be unforgivable, most of us make mistakes and have moments of poor judgment or weakness.

<p><span>In general, men don’t pick up on subtle signals, so expecting him to intuitively know your needs, thoughts, or feelings can lead to immense frustration. It is crucial to express yourself clearly and openly if you hope to avoid feeling like your emotions are being ignored. Calm, honest communication will ensure he knows what you want or why you feel that way, helping to strengthen your bond and promote harmony.</span></p>

Expecting Him to Read Your Mind

In general, men don’t pick up on subtle signals, so expecting him to intuitively know your needs, thoughts, or feelings can lead to immense frustration. It is crucial to express yourself clearly and openly if you hope to avoid feeling like your emotions are being ignored. Calm, honest communication will ensure he knows what you want or why you feel that way, helping to strengthen your bond and promote harmony.

<p><span>Feeling worthwhile is a key part of fueling love in a relationship. When we take our a man’s positive actions for granted, they feel undervalued and unseen. Just because he’s a man, don’t assume that he doesn’t need compliments or gratitude when he does things well. Plus, when you express your thankfulness for his actions, you also reinforce and encourage this behavior. It’s a win-win!</span></p>

Lack Of Appreciation

Feeling worthwhile is a key part of fueling love in a relationship. When we take our a man’s positive actions for granted, they feel undervalued and unseen. Just because he’s a man, don’t assume that he doesn’t need compliments or gratitude when he does things well. Plus, when you express your thankfulness for his actions, you also reinforce and encourage this behavior. It’s a win-win!

<p><span>Because men are expected to be ‘less emotional’ than women, their feelings can sometimes be downplayed or ignored. Men have emotional needs just like we do, and they need them to be recognized and addressed. No one is immune to negative human emotions, and being a good partner to him means validating his feelings and fostering a caring environment in which you can both understand and support each other through life’s ups and downs.</span></p>

Ignoring Their Feelings

Because men are expected to be ‘less emotional’ than women, their feelings can sometimes be downplayed or ignored. Men have emotional needs just like we do, and they need them to be recognized and addressed. No one is immune to negative human emotions, and being a good partner to him means validating his feelings and fostering a caring environment in which you can both understand and support each other through life’s ups and downs.

<p>Certain situations require a sense of adaptability, and when people aren’t flexible enough to adjust their behavior and are stuck in their ways, they can lack empathy. This is especially true in emotional scenarios that others are going through. When you care, you’re more concerned about the other person than your own comfort. Empaths can also take a page out of this article on Psychalive on <a href="https://www.psychalive.org/empaths/">how to manage things</a> so you don’t get drained.</p>

Comparing Him to Your Ex

They call comparison the ‘thief of joy,’ and that is certainly true for relationships. Just like you, your man is unique and has his own strengths and weaknesses. Comparing him to ex-partners will not promote positive change; it will only undermine him and make him feel hurt or inadequate. If he’s the one you’ve chosen to be with, cherish his individuality, and avoid comparing him to men of the past.

<p><span>When you really love someone, it can be tempting to try and morph into their idea of the perfect woman. But, in relationships, it’s important to be true to who you are. While compromise is definitely important, compromising on what is fundamental to your sense of self isn’t healthy. Plus, it will only foster disrespect if you can’t stand up for your beliefs or act in a way that matches who you are.</span></p>

Over-pleasing

When you really love someone, it can be tempting to try and morph into their idea of the perfect woman. But, in relationships, it’s important to be true to who you are. While compromise is definitely important, compromising on what is fundamental to your sense of self isn’t healthy. Plus, it will only foster disrespect if you can’t stand up for your beliefs or act in a way that matches who you are.

<p>A man who values integrity won’t ignore advice when it’s given to him. He recognizes that he’s prone to making mistakes and could use counsel to become a better person. He genuinely listens when others speak to him, and he thanks them for their candor.</p>

Not Making Time for Each Other

Life can be busy, but making time for each other is essential if you are both to feel valued. Work, friends, or personal hobbies shouldn’t take precedence over your relationship every time. Try to make time to focus on each other. You don’t need a whole weekend away, but taking a quiet moment to stop, listen and enjoy life with your partner is vital; otherwise, what’s the point!?

<p><span>We’re all guilty of a healthy flash of jealousy here and there, but allowing jealousy to rule you can quickly destroy a relationship. Being overly suspicious of him, trying to control his actions, or being restrictive reflects insecurity and a dangerous lack of trust. Confidence in each other forms the bedrock of a healthy relationship, so remember that your man is entitled to a life outside your relationship, just as you are.</span></p>

Being Overly Jealous

We’re all guilty of a healthy flash of jealousy here and there, but allowing jealousy to rule you can quickly destroy a relationship. Being overly suspicious of him, trying to control his actions, or being restrictive reflects insecurity and a dangerous lack of trust. Confidence in each other forms the bedrock of a healthy relationship, so remember that your man is entitled to a life outside your relationship, just as you are.

<p><span>Serious signs of relationship problems should never be taken lightly. They can signify trouble ahead and highlight issues that need to be dealt with to avoid adversely affecting the relationship later on. Ignoring them in the hope that they’ll disappear over time is a big mistake. </span></p><p><span>By confronting these issues early on, they can be addressed and discussed before too much harm is done. Ignoring Red Flags

Serious signs of relationship problems should never be taken lightly. They can signify trouble ahead and highlight issues that need to be dealt with to avoid adversely affecting the relationship later on. Ignoring them in the hope that they’ll disappear over time is a big mistake.

By confronting these issues early on, they can be addressed and discussed before too much harm is done. Remember, love doesn’t require overlooking behavior that makes you unhappy.

<p><span>Whether it’s deciding on a job offer that will force you to relocate or whether to adopt a pet, major decisions should be taken jointly. Your man will feel resentful and neglected if you impose life changes on him without consultation, so it’s essential to value his opinions and seek his input on life’s major issues. This will help to avoid disputes and reinforce mutual respect for each other. </span></p>

Making Major Decisions Alone

Whether it’s deciding on a job offer that will force you to relocate or whether to adopt a pet, major decisions should be taken jointly. Your man will feel resentful and neglected if you impose life changes on him without consultation, so it’s essential to value his opinions and seek his input on life’s major issues. This will help to avoid disputes and reinforce mutual respect for each other.

<p><span>Though we can’t deny that it’s important to consider your man’s needs and feelings, prioritizing them to the point of neglecting your own can lead to an imbalanced relationship. Mutual respect and understanding are key, so try to ensure that both partners’ needs are equally valued. Take the time to invest in your own happiness and practice self-care, too; he’ll respect your investment in yourself and will also learn what makes you happy.</span></p>

Self-neglect

Though we can’t deny that it’s important to consider your man’s needs and feelings, prioritizing them to the point of neglecting your own can lead to an imbalanced relationship. Mutual respect and understanding are key, so try to ensure that both partners’ needs are equally valued. Take the time to invest in your own happiness and practice self-care, too; he’ll respect your investment in yourself and will also learn what makes you happy.

<p>The ‘assertive’ tag isn’t one we generally associate with nice people, but being able to advocate for yourself is essential and will ensure that others respect you. Avoiding confrontation at all costs, even if it means ignoring personal rights and freedoms, makes you overly passive and susceptible to being exploited or abused.</p>

Giving Him the Silent Treatment

Silence can sometimes be golden, but when it’s being used as a punishment, it can be harmful to your relationship. The silent treatment removes communication when it is needed the most and prevents misunderstandings from being cleared up, as well as bottling up strong emotions. Instead, try to express your feelings in a calm way and encourage your man to do the same. Your relationship will thank you!

<p>Many men struggle with effective communication, an issue that lies at the heart of many relationship problems. An inability to communicate effectively can lead to misunderstandings, unresolved conflicts, and a lack of emotional closeness, which are fundamental to a healthy relationship.</p>

Avoiding Difficult Conversations

Shying away from discussing contentious issues might seem like a peace-keeping exercise, but it can often lead to misunderstandings and resentment. Whether you have an issue with finance, personal boundaries, or future plans, open communication is essential. Just because a subject is difficult to talk about, or creates tension, doesn’t mean it should be avoided. It’s better to have a moment of discomfort now than leave an unresolved problem for the future.

<p><span>Ultimatums are generally not recommended in relationships, and using love as a tool for negotiation is manipulative and counter-productive. Using phrases like “If you loved me, you would…” not only undermines your partner but puts unnecessary strain on both him and your relationship. Instead, communicate your needs directly and respectfully, and remember that genuine love doesn’t involve fulfilling your partner’s demands or being emotionally bullied.</span></p>

Using Love as a Threat

Ultimatums are generally not recommended in relationships, and using love as a tool for negotiation is manipulative and counter-productive. Using phrases like “If you loved me, you would…” not only undermines your partner but puts unnecessary strain on both him and your relationship. Instead, communicate your needs directly and respectfully, and remember that genuine love doesn’t involve fulfilling your partner’s demands or being emotionally bullied.

<p><span>Assuming you know what your man needs or wants without asking him is a damaging, but not uncommon, mistake. Even if you’ve been together a long time, don’t deny him the option to choose. Once again, communication is vital! Ask him directly what his preferences are and talk about his feelings in depth without dismissing them. Being receptive to hearing what makes him happy (even when you think you know) will lead to a more meaningful connection.</span></p>

Making Assumptions

Assuming you know what your man needs or wants without asking him is a damaging, but not uncommon, mistake. Even if you’ve been together a long time, don’t deny him the option to choose. Once again, communication is vital! Ask him directly what his preferences are and talk about his feelings in depth without dismissing them. Being receptive to hearing what makes him happy (even when you think you know) will lead to a more meaningful connection.

<p>People who take advantage often use guilt to manipulate others into accepting an unequal relationship dynamic. According to <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/breaking-free-unraveling-web-guilt-tripping-relationships#:~:text=Guilt%20trip%20meaning%20in%20a%20relationship%3A&text=It%20involves%20exploiting%20the%20natural,or%20actions%20of%20their%20partner.">LinkedIn</a>, exploitative individuals use your natural empathy and compassion to make you feel responsible for negative aspects of their own lives—making you feel obligated to ‘fix’ or ‘make up’ for them.</p>

Being Discouraging

Everyone has ambitions in life, and your man’s dreams are an integral part of who he is and a huge force for his future happiness. Mocking or dismissing the things he values or is working towards can make him feel misunderstood and unloved. To strengthen your connection, show interest in his aspirations and actively support and encourage him in working towards them. CF

Authorities pounced on a group allegedly responsible for kidnapping at least 14 men to get money for its members' sex reassignment surgery.

The group is composed of transwomen and their partners. Its leader, identified as a certain "Mikey," 24, and her 23-year-old male partner, were arrested in Zamboanga City.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said the "Warla" criminal group has kidnapped foreign nationals from Asia, POGO employees, and business owners to get ransom money that its members can use for sex reassignment surgery in Thailand.

They would allegedly hurt their victims so they can demand for money. After they get the money, they would leave their victims anywhere in Metro Manila.

Mikey and her partner will be brought back to Parañaque City from Zamboanga City to face charges for kidnap for ransom with serious illegal detention, which is a non-bailable offense.

“Base sa report, sinasaktan nila para i-force ang biktima na magbigay ng pera. After nila makuha ang pera, ibababa na lang nila kung saang lugar sa Metro Manila. Ibabalik namin sya kung saan nya ginawa ang krimen—sa Metro Manila, nakikipag-coordinate kami sa issuing court,” CIDG Regional Field Unit-9 Officer-in-Charge, Lt. Col. Romulo Dimaya Jr., said.

The group reportedly has 13 members, all transwomen and their partners. Five of them remain at large.

CIDG said the group started its operation in 2018. By 2022, at least 14 men fell victim and the group was able to accumulate P4.2 million.

Mikey refused to comment.

In this house we don’t post signs.

Prepare to get the rug pulled out from under you, amateur decorators — these six common household decor choices are making your home look cheap and tacky, according to one professional interior designer.

“These things cheapen a room. I have a running list, but here’s the first [six],” said Julie Sousa, founder of Avante Garde Home in Boston, in a new social media post that’s gaining widespread attention.

Sousa, who goes by @the_avantgarde on TikTok, uploaded the conversation sparking video to the popular site two days ago, snaring more than a quarter million views.

Here is her list of shame.

Fake trees with big leaves

Big fake leaves look cheap, said the designer.

You may want to leaf this item out of your home.

The first thing Sousa said people should avoid is fake trees with large foliage.

“The secret to faux trees that look realistic is smaller foliage,” she explained.

“Avoid plastic. Real is always best, but understanding that some areas will not allow for real,” the designer added.

Unframed canvases

Unframed canvases is another item on her list of five no no's.

The next frame of her video revealed the next item on her list — unframed canvases.

“They look cheap because they are cheaper,” she said candidly.

“One of the ways to get the expensive look for less — DIY the frame. But you could also buy mass produced art and just paint right over it,” she added.

Signage

You may want to live, laugh, and leave this next item out.

“Good design will spike your imagination it will make you wonder,” she explained.

“Words do not leave you wondering anything.”

Labels

And speaking of words, close the door on this style if you want your home to look classy.

“You should know where your pantry is so there’s no point of emphasizing it,” she said while showing a photo of the word “Pantry” written above a door.

Toilet mats

A bathroom mat is fine -- as long as it's not around the toilet, she said.

This decoration could be sapping your home of its sophistication.

“Mats around the toilet,” she said. “Having a bunch of rugs like this is general, not a good look.”

Not all rugs are an issue though.

“Now people are getting a little bit more creative with their rugs. And if you’re gonna put one at all, make sure it’s one larger rug and not several,” she said.

Yellow shiny gold

Gold furniture with a yellow hue is a no go, she said.

This yellow is a little less mellow than it should be. Sousa recommended against gold furniture with a yellowish hue.

“Last is that fake, bright yellow, shiny gold,” she explained.

“It’s understanding that most of us can’t afford giant pieces of solid gold. But if you want it to look a little bit more realistic, lean into the golds that have this orange undertone,” she added.

The Post reached out to Sousa for additional comment.

Some commenters below her post echoed her recommendations.

“As an interior designer…do not do a huge rug in your bathroom! You should be using a mat that you can hang to dry and wash frequently. Otherwise it’s a breeding ground for bacteria and mold,” one said.

“I DESPISE ‘live, laugh, love’ homes. There, I said it,” another added.

Others loved some of the decor she said to avoid.

“My sister-in-law’s unframed paintings are all around my house! Love them,” one said.

“I also disagree with frameless art. I have a ton of frameless art and it’s gorgeous,” another wrote.

NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

The key Bridgerton character who was axed from season 3

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton in Bridgerton Season 3

Bridgerton season three part one was released on Netflix this week and fans of the Regency drama were delighted to sink their teeth into the latest love story focused on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

However, there is one key character missing from Bridgerton season three who played a rather vital role in the book.

The leading lady of this season is Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope, who is the youngest of three sisters in the series.

Her eldest sisters, Prudence and Phillipa appear in the show with their main narrative in this latest season focusing on their attempts to get pregnant with their new husbands.

In true Cinderella fashion, the two older sisters are cruel and unkind to Penelope and it appears as if she is set to live her life as a spinster with just her mother for company if she is unable to marry.

However, in the book, Penelope has an ally who sticks by her side and even helps her when it comes to romancing Colin Bridgerton – another sister!

Who is the key missing character from Bridgerton season 3?

Romancing Mr Bridgerton Julia Quin

In the book, Penelope isn’t the youngest Featherington sister as the trio had a fourth sister named Felicity.

Felicity is best friends and close in age to Hyacinth Bridgerton, the youngest of the eight Bridgerton siblings .

In Julia Quinn’s novel, Felicity is a key reason that Penelope spends so much time at the Bridgerton house as they both take tea with their respective friends, Eloise and Hyacinth, at their home every week.

Felicity encourages Penelope and supports her happiness and relationship with Colin.

As the most attractive Featherington daughter, Lady Portia Featherington believes only Felicity would be able to snag a Bridgerton in marriage, and mistakenly believes Colin might be interested in the youngest sister.

Bridgerton FEatherington sisters

And when Colin does ask Portia for Penelope’s hand in marriage, there is a huge kerfuffle and misunderstanding that ends in him yelling: ‘No, for God’s sake I don’t want to marry Felicity!’ as Portia repeatedly fails to understand that he wants to marry Pen!

It seems that Shonda Rhimes, the prestige show creator who is also responsible for other TV masterpieces such as Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy, decided to axe Felicity from the get-go as her character has been missing since season one.

This is likely to strengthen and place more importance on Penelope’s friendship with Eloise – as her only friend – and perhaps also to encourage sympathy for Penelope as she is stuck surrounded by family members who put her down.

Bridgerton Featherington cast

In any case, Felicity’s character may have had a bigger role as a friend to Penelope in the fourth book, but as Shonda changed so much of the plot to Romancing Mr Birdgerton her character was perhaps superfluous.

Would it have been nice for Penelope to have one family member who was kind to her? Perhaps. But do we trust Shonda to make the book even better in her series? We do.

Bridgerton season 3 part 2 is set to be released in just a month, and we can’t wait to see what happens next after that major cliffhanger!
