Most children are fascinated with electronic devices.

And it’s not at all surprising, as us adults also spend so much time on them these days.

There are some fantastic apps available to help motivate your child to learn and practice their language skills .

We found and reviewed five of the best speech therapy apps to help you find the right one for your child’s needs.

Let’s take a closer look.

1. Articulation Station (Best for Articulation and Enunciation)

2. my talking tom (best for reluctant talkers), 3. starfall abcs (best for alphabet practice), 4. splingo’s language universe (best for receptive language skills), 5. lamp words for life (best for autism), which speech therapy app is the best, best speech therapy apps reviews.

articstation1

Articulation Station was developed by Little Bee Speech.

This speech therapy app is one of the most comprehensive language-learning apps around.

Articulation Station is a fantastic tool you can use to encourage children to articulate and pronounce their words correctly.

The app allows you to play within various levels to suit your child’s needs, working at word, sentence, or story level.

It features over 1,000 pictures based on sounds that are targeted regularly by speech-language practitioners.

The pictures respond to 22 different sounds for your child to work on, placing the sound at the beginning, middle, or end of words, or all three.

In turn, this helps your child practice the different sound placements in a variety of words.

It’s cute, colorful, and interactive and will keep your child engaged while learning.

Your child can press the flashcard to turn it over, play a game of memory, or read a story containing key sounds.

It also has a record function that provides audio feedback within the game, which is really useful.

Plus, it will also save your child’s progress so that they can progress through the levels.

  • Comprehensive learning tool
  • Free trial version to test if your child responds to it
  • Gives audio feedback
  • Allows you to track progress
  • Option to buy only the sounds you need
  • The free version only features one sound
  • The full version is pricier than some of the others we found

best speech therapy apps

Outfit7 released My Talking Tom in 2010, but it’s still our favorite “talking animals” app to this day.

The My Talking Tom app wasn’t specifically designed for speech therapy.

Still, it’s our go-to app for getting reluctant talkers talking.

The game features a cat that repeats everything you say back to you in a funny voice, and children love it.

It works really well for motivating them to practice their sounds and words.

You can challenge them to see how many times they can get the cat to say its “p” or “sh” sound correctly.

As a reward, they can then access the game’s other features, which include feeding, dressing, and petting him.

Plus, it has plenty of mini-games built within, including puzzles, memory games, and football goal-shoot.

The free version does contain a lot of ads, but you have the option to subscribe monthly for unlimited ad-free play.

  • Motivates children to talk
  • Provides audio feedback
  • Very popular with children
  • Lots of ads in the free version

Starfall ABCs is by the Starfall Education Foundation, a publicly funded non-profit organization.

This app is an excellent tool for helping your child learn the alphabet and practice their sounds.

Starfall’s ABCs app is a solid, teacher-approved tool designed to help children learn their ABCs.

The app is colorful and fun, teaching children lower and uppercase letters and showing them how they sound.

The app also teaches children about vowels, counting, colors, and more.

Some of the content is only available if you donate Starfall.

And if you choose to, it’s nice to see your money going to a non-profit organization.

Some parents find that they don’t have to donate, as there is plenty of free content they can access.

All of these will help your child learn the alphabet and widen their vocabulary.

Within the free content, your child will have the opportunity to see, hear, and interact with each letter, in context with words and sentences.

It contains songs with actions that are fun to learn together, and it also has lots of interactive mini-games for them to play.

It’s a really great example of how learning can be made fun, containing the perfect amount of repetition and silliness to keep kids interested.

For example, they can watch the letter “T” roll onto the screen on a train, with turtles playing tunes at the end of it.

Then, they can have fun sorting the capital and lowercase letters out or picking the odd ones out.

You can encourage your child to repeat the sounds and words they hear.

Overall, it’s a great free resource, and it will massively improve your child’s confidence in the classroom.

  • Teacher-approved
  • Free content with no ads
  • Wide-ranging content
  • Improves enunciation
  • Also teaches the alphabet in sign language
  • No audio feedback
  • Doesn’t save progress

District Speech and Language Therapy Washington DC speech language therapists blog 14b

Splingo was released by the Speech and Language store.

It is an instructional app that will help improve listening and language skills.

We love that Splingo was designed by speech and language therapists and aligns with common core standards for speaking and listening.

It focuses on nouns, verbs, prepositions, and adjectives.

The learning is fun and appealing to children, primarily due to the colorful Splingo alien character the game is centered around.

Children are given instructions they must follow to complete tasks and progress through the game.

It is designed in a way that users can play it in multiple difficulty levels, so you can set it to your child’s current ability.

There is also an option to save their progress.

Unfortunately, this game is only available on iOS devices (not Android), which means you need an iPhone or iPad to play it.

For those that do have an Apple device, there is a lot of great content on this app.

Best of all is that it’s available at an incredibly low one-off price.

  • Very affordable
  • Teaches multiple language goals at once
  • Developed by speech and language therapists
  • Saves your child’s progress
  • Not available on Android devices

lampwfl k2

Developed by Prentke Romich College, LAMP aims to help children with autism advance their speech and communication skills.

This app is based on the Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) system.

LAMP has proven to be highly successful in improving speech skills in children with autism and allows unlimited language growth opportunities.

It features a consistent motor pattern for words, and its systematic approach to learning is comforting to children with autism.

It contains three different vocabulary levels (introductory, transition, and full) that range from 83 to 3,000 words.

It’s a symbols-based approach that works well with young children who are just beginning to communicate.

It is also suitable for older kids with advanced skills.

This app has been around for a few years, and it consistently rates very highly with parents.

However, it is also quite pricey and only available on the iPad, making access difficult for some.

  • Suitable for all abilities
  • Offers a consistent, systematic approach to learning
  • A proven strategy for developing language skills
  • Only available on iPad

Choosing a single winner out of the five apps is a tricky task.

After all, the best speech therapy apps for one child will be different for the next.

Each child has different needs, and we hope you find something on this list that will help develop your child’s speech and language skills somehow.

If we had to pick a winner, we would vote for Splingo’s Language Universe.

We love that SLPs designed it, the content is solid, and the app is also very affordable.

It would also help if you try to limit your child’s screen time, and these great toys and books can help with that.

The Best Free and Paid Speech Therapy Apps

in SLP Resources on 07/24/20

Being an itinerant speech-language pathologist (SLP), speech therapy apps have always been a major help for me since I have to lug everything from school to school. Now that many of us are doing teletherapy or returning to school with new sanitation guidelines, apps are more valuable than ever! I’ve rounded up all my favorite speech and language apps that I’ve used regularly over the years. *Each suggestion includes a link to the app, the price, the rating, and the total number of ratings. Prices are subject to change and some may have more ratings at the time you view them.

best speech therapy apps

– Tiny Decisions – Free  –  4.7/5 Stars, 51.8K Ratings Make interactive spinners by writing out your targets or using emojis for visuals. *Check out this post to see some of the spinners I’ve made along with more information on why I love this app!

– Toontastic – Free   –   4.0/5 Stars, 660 Ratings Great for social skills, story grammar, carryover, language, grammar. *Note- it takes a while to make a video so I usually carry it out over 2 sessions. Session one maps the video out with a story map/visuals, lists characters, setting, plot, etc. and then we practice or role play that day. Session two we typically record the video or finish recording the video. Then we review and work on the specific targets we are incorporating in that session. *Check out this post for more info on this app!

– Voice Recorder & Audio Editor – Free   –  4.7, 208.8K Ratings You can rename your samples, save, pause, rewind, and fastforward. This is great to use when taking data, doing progress monitoring, or recording assessment procedures. I like to record my students saying a specific set of words (sometimes I note that right in the title of the sample), I date it, then have the student do the same sample months later. It’s great to compare the samples to note progress.

– NotesWriter – Take Better Notes – Free   –   4.5, 1.8K Ratings This is what I use to annotate PDFs and do a lot of fun things to make PDFs interactive on the tablet. I take regular TPT activities ( like these ) and make them interactive on the iPad rather than printing them. *Check out this Instagram Story Highlight for more info and tutorials on this app! I also show even more ways to use this app in these videos .

– Apps Gone Free & Daily Tips – Free   –   4.7, 14.2K Ratings I check this every day at school. It lists free apps daily…most are paid apps that are only free for a short time. Most are irrelevant to speech-language therapy, but I’ve gotten some great ones through that app. You just have to wait and keep checking. You’ll find some really great ones on there! *Check out this post for more info on why I love this app!

– YT Kids – Free   –   4.7/5 Stars, 885.9K Ratings YouTUbe Kids app. You don’t have to worry about inappropriate ads.

– Charades Pictures – Free   –   4.7/5 Stars, 355 Ratings I love using this for describing/vocabulary and articulation carryover. I have the student describe the words rather than act them out.

– Fruit Ninja (Arcade mode) – Free   –  4.0/5 Stars, 8.2K Ratings  I use “Arcade Mode” because it limits the time to 60 seconds so it’s a great reinforcer at the end of a session. Sometimes they earn bonus time, but just about 15-30 seconds. I like using this game compared to others because sometimes one turn can last forever. Our students are so good that they don’t ever “die” in the game. Having a time limit with a natural end of game is great!

– Toco Boca Hair Salon Great for targeting lots of verbs, requesting, expanding utterances, describing, and following directions!

– Far West Train (Comolo Mola) – Free   –   4.3/5 Stars, 509 Ratings Great for targeting articulation at the word level, articulation carryover, grammar, vocabulary, receptive language, and social skills! I like to call programs like this “exploration apps”. They give you a lot of freedom to use them in a ton of different ways!

– Ocean (MarcoPolo) – Free   –   4.6/5 Stars, 146 Ratings Exploration app – Great for targeting articulation at the word level, articulation carryover, grammar, vocabulary, receptive language, and social skills!

– Arctic (MarcoPolo) – Free   –   4.5/5 Stars, 53 Ratings Exploration app – Great for targeting articulation at the word level, articulation carryover, grammar, vocabulary, receptive language, and social skills!

– Pirates (comomola) – Free   –   4.5/5 Stars, 393 Ratings *Check out this post for more info on why I absolutely LOVE this app and what goals I target using this!

best speech therapy apps

– Little Bee Speech – Test Center Pro – $59.99   –   4.9/5 Stars, 29 Ratings I use this all the time. You can record each individual word which is great for looking at progress monitoring over time. I use it a lot for my severe phono students and I use the “R-only” test to progress monitor my R students with recordings.

– Virtual Speech Center – Articulation Carnival – $36.99  –   3.0/5 Stars, 2 Ratings I use this app a lot. I provides lots of practice and then short bursts of reinforcement.

– Speech Tutor – $19.99 –   3.9/5 Stars, 40 Ratings – Speech Tutor Pro – $39.99 – 4.2/5 Stars, 23 Ratings I have the Pro version (got it on sale for $9.99 a year or two ago) and I use the artic videos in the app daily! It’s easily one of my most-used apps. The articulation videos give students a sort of X-ray view into the oral cavity so they can see exactly how the tongue moves to make each sound. It is so helpful during teletherapy sessions as well.

– Silly Sentence & Multiple Choice Artic (Erik X. Raj) – $4.99   –   5.0/5 Stars, 3 Ratings These are just silly and worth the low price point. My students love asking the questions, answering, then listening to the narrator answer the question. The narrator is a bit silly. Even my older elementary and lower middle-school students enjoy it!

– Multiple Choice Articulation – $4.99  –  4.7/5 Stars, 3 Ratings Another silly one just like the one above. I think it’s worth spending the few dollars. It’s especially great for articulation at the reading, sentence and conversational levels. Sometimes when we finish a bit early I let my students be a bit silly with this app.

– WordToob: Language Learning – 3.8/5 Stars, 5 Ratings, Was paid, now FREE! This app is incredible for using video modeling to target vocabulary, grammar, and AAC! I’ve been using it for years.

– Real Vocabulary (Virtual Speech Center Inc.) – $29.99   –   4.7/5 Stars, 7 Ratings  I really like all the vocab included in this. It uses real pictures and includes fun little games.

– Magical Concepts (Virtual Speech Center) – $9.99   –   2.8/5 Stars, 4 Ratings Better for assessing/progress monitoring rather than teaching.

– Prepositions Journey (Virtual Speech Center) – $9.99   –   2.0/5 Stars, 2 Ratings Better for assessing/progress monitoring rather than teaching.

– Sentence Workout (VSC ^) – $12.99   –   2.0/5 Stars, 1 Rating More for writing and syntax goals.

– Verbs News (^Virtual Speech Center) – $9.99   –   2.0/5 Stars, 2 Ratings I mainly just love all the verb pictures and my students love recording themselves as a reinforcer. Sometimes I turn off the reinforcement and use the visuals along with another activity, such as a board game.

Exploring Apps – TONS of great language opportunities

– Comomola Pirates – Free   –   4.5/5 Stars, 393 Ratings *Check out this post for more info on why I absolutely LOVE this app and what goals I target using this! It is one of my absolute favorites!

– Tom the Tow Truck (Mini Mango) – $2.99   –   No Ratings You can target a lot of grammar and language goals with this. Go exploring and complete fun little mini tasks as you cruise around town.

– Far West Train (Comolomola) – Free   –   4.3/5 Stars, 509 Ratings Similar to the Pirate app mentioned above, but I feel like this one is more basic and repetitive. I’ve used this more with my special needs students and they loved it!

– Ocean (MarcoPolo) – Free   –   4.6/5 Stars, 146 Ratings Great for grammar and vocabulary. Go exploring under the sea, talk about all the ocean-themed vocabulary, complete little mini tasks, and build you own submarine!

– Arctic (MarcoPolo) – Free   –   4.5/5 Stars, 53 Ratings Explore the arctic tundra, interact with the different animals, talk about winter vocabulary, complete mini tasks and work in tons of functional goals as your student plays.

  • I love all of these “exploration” apps! You can target so many language concepts and carryover within them. Tons of opportunities for vocabulary, grammar, articulation, etc.

It’s not great

My son didn't engage with the app. It was just drills of words. I wish the audio was better and I would've liked to see more diversity in the actors. One of the actors seemed to have speech difficulties himself and I am not really enthused about getting my son to mimic him. Unfortunately, I would not recommend. In contrast to another app, this app did excel in a feature where it gave the user a path to learning words. Note* I did not use the app beyond the free trial. Your results may vary.

I can’t thank you enough

My son has 2nd level autism, and he HAD speech delay. Why I am writing HAD, because he had it until I found this incredible application. My husband, me, his speech therapist - everybody was trying to make him to say at least mom and dad, but no success. When I downloaded this app I thought at least he will play games. After ONE WEEK I saw how my son is imitating lip movements of the kids from the screen, but still no sound and it already was a miracle for us at least he tries to imitate. After 2 WEEKS he said his first words MOM,MOM,MOM, then DAD,DAD,DAD. OMG my husband And I were in tears. Because psychologist said he may never speAk, and now after 6 months he is putting 2-3 words together, sometimes making short sentences. For someone else it may seem pretty normal for a kid at his 32 months to say these words, but for a mom with a kid with autism its a miracle. Thank you so much for this application.

really good for speech boost

I cannot express how excited I am to tell you about my experience with Otsimo Speech Therapy. This is by far the best speech app for children I have tried so far. Even if your kid doesn’t have any speech problem it's such a fun way to learn new words and improve articulation and I cannot recommend this enough! There are no articles about Otsimo that don't rave about it and rightly so. My daughter is very engaged and confident now, getting better at her speech and having fewer mistakes. I love this app and would recommend it to anyone looking for something to boost their kid’s speech.

Whether you or your child have trouble reading, writing, sounding out words, memorizing characters, and everything in between, the following five apps are among the most commonly used by speech therapists.

For many, speech therapy helps improve their language recognition skills as well as their social and cognitive communication. But speech-language pathologists (SLP) or speech therapists can assist with various communication issues, from aphasia and stuttering to dyslexia and more severe conditions like dysphagia.

Each condition requires specific speech therapy techniques and tools, but what tools do speech therapists use?

Modern SLPs have turned to specialized mobile apps to enhance therapy sessions and improve peoples’ language skills like decoding and recognition.

The top five speech therapy apps

Little Bee Speech created Articulation Station as a children-specific speech app. It contains numerous activities designed around practicing words, sentences, and stories to boost speech skills.

It comes with six types of activities:

  • Flashcards with over 1,200 pictures
  • Level 1 stories with picture prompts, simple questions, and silly rhymes
  • Level 2 stories with more advanced comprehension questions based on creative stories
  • Matching activities to help practice sounds with the help of specific items
  • Rotating sentences focused on target sounds
  • Unique sentences designed to practice target words and sounds in new contexts

The Articulation app offers a highly personalized experience for every user. Hence it’s best suited for one-on-one speech therapy sessions. The app is an exclusive iOS software and free to use, but Articulation Station Pro comes with extra features.

Little Stories Pro is the premium version of the Little Stories Lite app for Apple devices. Also designed by Little Bee Speech, this app features programs targeted at children with poor language skills, reading difficulties, etc.

It focuses on improving four processes:

  • Receptive language skills
  • Expressive language skills

Although speech therapists use it mostly with kids, the programs can help guide advanced therapy sessions from phonemic awareness to vocabulary acquisition to story sequencing and retelling.

The short stories of roughly 100 words and cartoon graphics make them appealing to kids and grab their attention quickly.

The Splingo app offers a toddler-friendly program split into four levels. While it lacks the customization potential of similar language therapy apps, Splingo is highly interactive and the levels progress naturally with a child’s age. The programs include:

  • Level 1 programs focus on a single word per session
  • Level 2 programs go up to two main words and are suitable for toddlers of at least two years old
  • Level 3 programs use three primary words and benefit kids up to the age of four
  • Level 4 programs are for kids over age four and can help practice up to four main words

Designed by language therapists, Splingo emphasizes the recognition and comprehension of verbs, nouns, prepositions, and adjectives. The app’s interactive nature with multiple story levels can enhance your children’s listening, language, and social skills.

The Speech Tutor app developed by Synapse Apps is a favorite for speech therapists and kids. It uses 2D animated movies to explain how the human body produces sounds inside the mouth.

It’s an efficient technique to help kids learn proper tongue placement and throat movement regarding specific sounds. The app allows playback at three different speeds and has a cool recording feature for comparison purposes.

However, the app is only available on iOS 12.0 and above. Additionally, the premium version is relatively expensive at $59.99. Another downside is the app’s complexity. Even adult users may struggle to interact with it appropriately and improve their language skills without guidance from a trained speech pathologist.

Therefore, the app doesn’t see much use outside SLP-run speech therapy sessions on an iPhone or iPad.

Speechify uses  text to speech  technology to make reading easier. You can turn off your screen and have the app read aloud everything from news articles to PDFs to social media posts and emails, but it can do more than boost productivity.

Designed by a person with dyslexia , Speechify aims to help others with reading difficulties and comes with a text highlighting feature that helps users follow along with the narration. It also lets users configure the speech sound speed.

The software does an excellent job of reading digital text aloud in multiple languages with natural-sounding voices . And unlike other apps that speech therapists can implement in their sessions, Speechify is available on all iOS , Android , macOS , and Windows systems. You can download it from Google Play, the App Store, or the official website.

Many apps for speech therapists come with one significant drawback. They’re interactive but require guidance from a therapist. Even kid-friendly apps are difficult to use to their maximum potential outside a conversation therapy session.

But that’s where Speechify differs from the rest. It can improve a child’s speech and language development without direct input from language therapists. So it’s a great app when you can’t afford a speech tutor but still need to improve your receptive language skills.

Many online articles focus on augmentative and alternative communication. High-quality real-time narrations at desired playback speeds can help users with the following issues:

  • Differentiate letters and sounds
  • Learn correct pronunciation
  • Learn new words
  • Improve concentration
  • Recognize writing errors
  • Improve the language decoding process

In addition, using Speechify can be motivating and make it easier to focus on overcoming various speech disorders. Likewise, parents and kids can interact more closely while improving communication skills.

The app comes with a free and premium plan that unlocks extra features and more voices that make it even more helpful without input from a clinician.

If you want to make rapid improvements while managing dyslexia, autism, apraxia of speech, speech delays, and other similar disorders, try Speechify today .

Speechify can make reading and word recognition easier with text to speech technology and AI-generated audio narrations.

Using Speech Therapy Apps to Treat Cognitive-Communication Disorders

 5 min read

In order to communicate a thought, first we think of an idea, then choose the words to express it, and finally we voice it. However, that first step requires our  cognitive  abilities, and it is often overlooked in favor of a focus on language and speech.

Just as we cannot articulate words without our tongues, we cannot engage in the full range of communicative acts without cognition. Without memory, we cannot remember what we’ve already said or heard. Without attention, we can’t tune out distracting noises or focus on the conversation. Without executive functioning, we wouldn’t use communication to achieve a goal. Each cognitive process plays a vital role in our communication, so when they become impaired, a cognitive-communication disorder often results.

Learn more about cognitive communication in our informative “ What Is a Cognitive-Communication Disorder? ” guide offering tests, treatments, and tips.

The SLP Role in Cognitive-Communication Disorders

The speech-language pathologist’s job is to assess all aspects of a client’s communication: speech, language, and cognition. Clients who have recently suffered a stroke or brain injury, as well as those with progressive conditions like dementia, Parkinson’s, or MS, may show signs of a cognitive-communication disorder.

If treatment is indicated, the clinician and client will set goals to improve communication functions so the client can better participate in their life. The treatment may either address the impairment directly, or focus on compensatory strategies, or a combination of the two. The treatment plan for cognitive-communication disorders may include a variety of activities, including the use of apps for therapy.

Integrating Apps into Cognitive-Communication Therapy

Apps can make it easier to provide quality exercises for a wide range of goals, and they’re easily accessible to the clinician and the client. However, it’s important to recognize that performing an exercise on an app may not be enough to improve a skill or deficit.

The exercise presented by the app is the  stimulus ; the  therapy  is how we help a person deal with that stimulus. Successful therapy may involve:

  • bringing greater awareness to the problem and what is needed to solve it
  • teaching strategies that are used to break the problems down into manageable chunks
  • providing repeated exposure and opportunities to be successful, cementing the skill in the brain.

A skilled therapist can use the stimuli presented through apps to achieve these goals.

Apps to Help with Cognitive-Communication Disorders

Tactus Therapy offers a variety of apps that can be used to treat cognitive-communication disorders as part of a skilled therapy plan.

Conversation Therapy

Conversation Therapy presents hundreds of interesting topics, each with 10 different questions. Because the app gets people talking, it can be used to work on many communication skills. In general, turn-taking, eye contact, and topic maintenance can be addressed as the client answers the questions. As both the client and clinician can participate in the conversation, listening skills are put to work, along with self-monitoring for speech intelligibility.

best speech therapy apps

Use the  Feel  questions to target pragmatic (social language) skills such as empathy. The  Remember  questions are useful for targeting memory or reminiscence, whereas the  Brainstorm  questions target flexible thought. Those working on organization can practice by answering the  Define  and  Narrate  questions. Target reasoning and problem solving by asking the  Decide ,  Infer ,  Predict , or  Evaluate  questions, or by selecting only the  Safety and Problems  category of topics.

Conversation Therapy

Engage in real-life discussions with pictures & questions that get people talking to practice communication strategies.

Advanced Naming Therapy

Advanced Naming Therapy is ideal for cognitive-communication therapy, with hundreds of stimuli to elicit higher-level expression. The  Describe  activity has many categories filled with interesting pictures to discuss. Use the  Thoughts  and  Conversations  categories to build perspective-taking skills. Target flexible thinking using the  Idioms  category. Address problem-identification and solving with the pictures found in the  Problems  category.

best speech therapy apps

The  Generate  activity can be used to improve speed of processing by having clients race against the clock to name items from a given category. Target semantic organization by introducing strategies that the client can use for a more efficient search (e.g. visualizing, subcategorizing, searching through the alphabet, moving across a mental map).

best speech therapy apps

Practice organizing thoughts into clear, concise arguments with the  Compare  activity. Comparing and contrasting requires the client to define each word or describe each picture in a way that points out both the unique qualities of each, and the commonality between them. The exercises in the  Abstract Concepts  category are especially challenging, requiring deeper analysis and more nuanced responses.

best speech therapy apps

Express yourself better with challenging word-finding exercises for aphasia and cognitive-communication problems.

Category Therapy

If Advanced Naming Therapy is too challenging when working on thought organization, step down to Category Therapy. Work on exclusion, addition, and sorting tasks for concrete, abstract, and sub categories.

best speech therapy apps

While the app only requires users to identify the correct answer, the therapist can ask the client explain their choices and discuss why the other options aren’t appropriate. (Be sure to turn off  Auto-Advance  in the Settings.)

Category Therapy

Strengthen connections between words with flexible exercises to improve language and reasoning skills.

Visual Attention Therapy

For clients with  hemispatial neglect , Visual Attention Therapy provides  visual scanning exercises  to improve attention. This can help with reading comprehension, since those with neglect may start reading midway through a line. The advantage of using the app for scanning practice is the immediate auditory and visual feedback it provides to the client, along with the automatic scoring and timing it offers the clinician.

best speech therapy apps

This app can also be useful for clients with memory or other attention deficits. Scanning the screen for two closely related targets is a great exercise for working memory and attention to detail. Encourage increased speed of processing by drawing attention to the timer. Many clients have a goal to decrease their impulsivity, and this app makes it easy to measure progress by focusing on minimizing the error rate over repeated trials.

best speech therapy apps

Retrain the brain with interactive cancellation exercises that help you assess and treat left neglect.

Spaced Retrieval Therapy

This app simplifies the evidence-based memory training technique of  spaced retrieval . Track data and time intervals for personalized memory targets to help clients with dementia or TBI.

best speech therapy apps

Make memory training easy using evidence-based expanding intervals with built-in data tracking & timing.

From About You Decor … Our design is a symbol of dawn and a distant endless horizon. Ahead is a long, happy life without any borders. An international couple, Pavel and Cherry, met in London and have been walking together for many years.

best speech therapy apps

From the Bride, Cherry… My husband and I we decided to have our summer wedding in Moscow because the city is where his roots are. As we knew we were going to have the other wedding ceremony in China, we wanted our Moscow one to be very personal and intimate. We’ve known each other since we were fourteen, together with many of our friends whom we’ve also known for a decade.

best speech therapy apps

I didn’t want to walk down the aisle twice so the plausibility of my request quickly came into discussion. The open pontoon stage was constructed in order to facilitate the bridal entrance on water, although there were concerns about safety as the last thing we wanted was probably a drowned bride before she could get on stage, picture that! I have to say on that day it wasn’t easy to get on the pontoon stage from the boat, in my long gown and high heels. Luckily my bridesmaids still noticed even though they stood the furthest from me on the stage, and helped me out without prior rehearsal. My girls could just tell whenever I needed a hand or maybe they were just so used to my clumsiness. Who knows 😂

We all love our photographer Julia! She’s so talented and her style is so unique. Our beloved host Alex is exceptional who made everyone laugh and cry. It was truly a blessing to have so many kind and beautiful souls on our big day. Thank you all!

I’m still not convinced this Moscow wedding, captured to perfection by  Sonya Khegay , isn’t actually an inspiration session—it’s just  that breathtaking. From Sonya Khegay … It was the last day of April and still very cold in the morning. The weather forecast wasn’t pleasing and no one expected that the sun would come out, but miracles happen and light rain gave way to the warm rays.

I love how all the details went together, you could feel the harmony in everything throughout the entire wedding day from the morning until the fireworks.

A gentle look of the bride, elegant but so airy and unique decor, the fresh and light atmosphere of early spring and, of course, true happiness in the eyes. My heart becomes so warm from these memories, it is always a pleasure to see the birth of a new family of two loving hearts.

You really can’t go wrong with simple: a beautiful Bride , perfectly pretty petals , loved ones all around. But add in an amazing firework show  to cap off the night and simple just became downright extraordinary. Captured by Lena Elisseva , with assistance by  Katya Butenko , this rustic Russian celebration is simply fantastic. See it all in the Vault right here !

From Lena Eliseeva Photo …  This cozy and warm summer wedding of gorgeous Natalia and Anton was in the middle of June. The young couple decided to organize their wedding themselves, and the day was very personal and touching. I am absolutely in love with rustic outdoor weddings, and this one is my favourite because of the free and easy atmosphere.

All the decor excluding the bride’s bouquet was made by a team of ten friends of the bride and groom. And it was charming – a light and beautiful arch, eco-style polygraphy and succulents, candy-bar with caramel apples and berries – sweet joys of summer.

At the end of ceremony the guests tossed up white handkerchiefs embroidered by Natalia’s own hands.

The most touching moment was the happy eyes of the groom’s grandmother, the most estimable person on the wedding. And the fireworks were a bright end to that beautiful day.

Oh, and the idea of prepping for your Big Day outside in the sun ? Brilliant. See more bright ideas right here !

From Lena Kozhina … When we met with the couple for the first time, we immediately paid attention to Dima’s behavior towards Julia. There was a feeling of tenderness and awe, and we immediately wanted to recreate this atmosphere of love, care and warmth on their Big Day.

Later, when we had chosen a green meadow and an uncovered pavilion overlooking a lake as the project site, it only highlighted a light summer mood with colorful florals and a great number of natural woods. The name of the site is Fox Lodge and peach-orange color, as one of the Bride’s favorites, set the tone for the whole design – from the invitations, in which we used images of fox cubs to elements of serving guest tables and other decorative elements with the corresponding bright accents.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Keywords: Tuva, Early Iron Age, early Scythian period, Aldy-Bel culture, barrow, burial in the coffin, mummy, full genome sequencing, aDNA
