How to use MyUnisa to submit your Unisa assignments online

Photo of StudentRoom

Are you an enrolled student at the University of South Africa (Unisa) who is having trouble submitting your assignments? Assignments for Unisa can be turned in online through the myUnisa dashboard, in a box designated for that purpose, by mail to the University of South Africa, or by courier.

Assignments at UNISA help you master the material and be ready for exams while also assisting instructors in determining your understanding of the subject.

They are necessary and required, and you cannot take the exam unless you have finished the corresponding tasks.

It is important to always keep a copy of your assignment in case the university does not receive an assignment and you are requested to re-submit a copy.

Watch this video which shows you how to prepare, format, complete & submit Unisa assignments or read the guide below.

How to submit Unisa assignments

Here is a step-by-step instruction for submitting online assignments.

To submit an assignment, use a file format that can be uploaded to myUnisa. These formats are listed in the “ Specify the type of file ” drop-down list on the submission screen.

A pdf file is the preferred option (formatting and layout are retained). Do not submit assignments in write-protected/read-only pdf formats. Use only the Adobe pdf format.

Information on pdf converters can be found on your dashboard under “ Electronic resources ”. Navigate to the assignments tool to start the process.

When you click “ Continue ”, your assignment will be uploaded to the Unisa network.

This may take several minutes depending on the size of your assignment and the speed of your internet connection.

Once the assignment is received, its details will be displayed on your screen for final checking. You can either go back and make corrections or click on the “ Submit assignment ” to submit it.

Ensure that your answers to multiple-choice questions are ready before connecting to the internet. It will cost you money to work out answers while online. Check for mistakes before submitting your Unisa assignment.

Don’t wait until the closing date

Try to submit your assignments at least 3 working days before the due date, as you may experience unforeseen problems (e.g. your internet connection is down) on the day you want to submit my Unisa assignments.

Don’t run into grace period issues

Don’t submit the same assignment via two separate channels (eg myUnisa and the post). Any documents/assignments uploaded to your myUnisa admin must be virus-free.

If you repeatedly submit documents with viruses, you may lose the right to use my Unisa student portal.

Assignments of modules offered fully online must be submitted online. Hard copy unisa assignments submitted for online modules will be returned to the student unmarked.

Assignments submitted via myUnisa admin which are marked onscreen (except multiple-choice question assignments, blogs, portfolios, and discussion forums) will be available for viewing on my.unisa.ac.za.

Notification of the marked assignment (together with a link) will be sent to your myLife e-mail account. Download your marked assignment, so that you have access to it even when you are offline.

Unisa’s Assignment Division does not accept requests to cancel assignments submitted via myUnisa. It is your responsibility to ensure that the content of your assignment is correct before you submit it.

What Happens If You Miss First Assignment At Unisa 2024/2025

Navigating the Aftermath: Missing Your First Assignment at UNISA 2024/2025:

Unisa encourages all of its students to excel academically and be well-prepared for their exams. For this reason, before allowing a student to take an exam, it requires that they complete a predetermined amount of assignments for each subject. Usually, the assignment questions are described in detail in Tutorial Letter 101 (or 102 for first-year B Com). The lecturers will provide more information regarding the assignment requirements.

Students must still make sure that their assignment is sent to Unisa by the due date or earlier. Students must turn in assignments on time in order to meet the due date (submission/closing). If you don’t follow these instructions, your assignment won’t be graded, and you won’t get any admissions points for it.

Students must grasp the specifics of the university’s assessment procedure as we enter the 2024–2025 academic year. The implications of skipping the first assignment are a common problem. This article explains what occurs when the initial assignment deadline is missed.

Marking Of Unisa Assignment In 2024

  • On a predetermined date, all multiple-choice assignments are electronically designated as a batch. The system does not mark assignments as they are submitted but rather marks them all at once as a batch. This means that if your assignment is not part of the batch, it will not be marked. The Assignment Department posts the outcomes of marked assignments on SOL or mails them to correspondence students.

What Happens If You Fail  To Submit An Assignment At Unisa?

Unisa wants its students to succeed in their studies and to come to their examinations properly prepared. This is why it insists on all its students submitting a certain number of assignments per course before being allowed to take an examination. Tutorial Letter 101 (102 for first-year B Com) normally contains details of the assignment questions. More details concerning assignment requirements will be provided by the lecturers.

It remains the responsibility of students to ensure that their assignment reaches Unisa on or before the closing date. It is essential that students submit an assignment in time to meet the deadline (submission/closing) date. If you fail to do this, the assignment will not be marked and you will therefore receive NO ADMISSION CREDITS for the assignment.

If you are UNABLE to hand in a compulsory assignment on time, you must apply in advance to the academic department in question (eg the Department of Criminology) for an extension of time. Such an extension will be granted only in exceptional cases. NO assignments handed in after the closing date will be marked unless special permission has been obtained in advance from the head of the relevant academic department.

Unisa Assignment Submission Date 2023-2024

Because the first two assignments are marked by batch processing, Unisa cannot arrange for the marking of individual assignments. It is therefore very important that you submit your assignment ON or BEFORE the due. Please DO NOT ask for an extension to submit an assignment. Because Unisa cannot arrange for individual assignments to be marked, UNISA also cannot grant extensions.

If you miss an assignment, please start working on the next assignment. The date of marking is usually set THREE days after the due date. As explained in the previous section, we can unfortunately also not accept any late submissions for Assignment 3. Please be on time to be eligible for improving your term mark.

What Happens If You Fail An Assignment At Unisa 2023?

Students will not be disadvantaged if they do not submit or fail assignments. For certificate courses, all students have automatic entrance to the examination. If you have not submitted any assignments or failed assignments, you will simply have no year mark, and as a result, your examination mark will be the final mark.

On the other hand, if you don’t submit all the assignments, for example, If you submit only 1 out of 3 assignments, your year mark will only make up 5% of your final mark. We have a policy in this course, not to disadvantage students through their year mark, but to use it to help them. For example, if your year mark is average (say 60%) and you get 80% in the exams, your year mark will be disregarded.

Unisa Assignments Contribution Towards Final Mark

According to UNISA regulations, the assignments may count as a small percentage of the final mark. In this course, Unisa’s assignments can contribute a maximum of 15% to the final mark. The reason why it cannot be more than 15% is that the university has no guarantee that the work submitted is the student’s own work.

Also, Unisa allows students to work in groups, which implies that the work submitted is not entirely the own work of the student who submitted the work. However, we acknowledge the fact that most students work throughout the year and recognise your effort by making the assignments count. In most other courses at UNISA, assignments do NOT count towards the final mark but simply serve as an entrance requirement for the examinations. A maximum of 15% is allowed by letting each assignment count as 5% of the final mark.

When To Submit An Assignment At Unisa

Please remember that submission must be ON or BEFORE the due date. If there is a consistent problem with the Unisa servers two days prior to the due date, Unisa automatically extends the due date for a week (Also the section on Possible Problems). Remember that the automatic extension of one assignment does NOT imply an extension of the follow-up assignments, you must therefore continue with your study programme as initially planned and not adjust your schedule according to the new date.

All multiple-choice assignments are marked electronically as a batch on a predetermined date. If you’re a student worried about missing your first assignment at Unisa, this article is for you.

Does the First Assignment at Unisa Count?

The weight of the first assignment at Unisa varies depending on your course.

In some courses, assignments act as a prerequisite for the final exam.

Missing the first assignment at Unisa wouldn’t necessarily affect your final mark, but you wouldn’t be allowed to write the exam without completing it.

For most courses, assignments contribute a percentage (usually between 5% and 15%) to your final mark.

Missing the first assignment means ,missing out on those valuable points.

Unisa is very serious about deadlines so check your course brochure or myUnisa for specific assignment weightage and deadlines.

What Happens If I Miss All Assignments at Unisa?

Missing all assignments can significantly impact your final mark.

If you don’t submit any assignments, you won’t receive a year mark.

This means your exam mark becomes your final mark, putting extra pressure on your exam performance.

Unisa has academic progression rules. Not meeting minimum assignment requirements may hinder your ability to progress in the course or program.

Can I Submit a Late Assignment at Unisa?

Unisa generally does not accept late assignments.

Their system is designed for batch processing, making it difficult to accommodate individual submissions after the deadline.

However, if you have a valid reason for missing the deadline, such as a serious illness or unforeseen event, you can try contacting your department and requesting an extension.

Be prepared to provide documented proof of your situation.

How Do I Apply for an Assignment Extension at Unisa?

Timberwolves blow 18-point lead in Game 2 loss to Mavericks

Nolan o'hara | 15 hours ago.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (5) shoots against Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving (11) in the second quarter during Game 2 of the Western Conference finals at Target Center in Minneapolis on May 24, 2024.

  • Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic called game.

The Dallas Mavericks superstar hit a go-ahead stepback 3 with Rudy Gobert switched on to him with three seconds remaining as the Mavs overcame an 18-point deficit in a 109-108 victory over the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals Friday at Target Center in Minneapolis.

"He hit a big-time shot," Gobert said of Doncic. "I let my team down on that last play."

Naz Reid, who was lights out for the Timberwolves all game long, got a look at a potential game-winning 3-pointer, but it rimmed out, leaving the Wolves facing a 2-0 series deficit with the series shifting to Dallas for Game 3 Sunday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

"Thought it was good," Reid said of his last-second shot. "Shot it with confidence. ... I thought it was good; it went in and out. I guess that's just how the game goes."

The Timberwolves turned the ball over twice in the final stretch. Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said he should have subbed Mike Conley back into the game ahead of the second-to-last possession.

"I’ll take that one, it’s on me," Finch said of not calling a timeout to get Conley back in the game. "But yeah, just kinda ball got stagnant and we turned it over. Same story as the other night, two turnovers in the guts of the game (is) not gonna get it done.”

Doncic posted a triple-double with 32 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. His partner in crime, Kyrie Irving, was also a driving force for the Mavericks turnaround. Irving shook off early shooting struggles and hit a trio of 3s early in the fourth quarter as the Mavs took a pair of one-point leads — their first leads since the first quarter. Irving scored 13 of his 20 points in the final frame.

It was a brutal end for the Timberwolves, who controlled the game throughout the first half. Behind 10 first-quarter points from Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves built a six-point lead by the end of the quarter and took a lead as large as 18 points during the second quarter.

Edwards finished his night with 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

The Mavs made a bit of a run towards the end of the half, but the Wolves still led by 12 at the break.

The Timberwolves pushed their lead back to 16 points early in the third quarter, but then some shooting struggles surfaced. Meanwhile, Doncic started heating up. The Mavericks got within two points twice during the third quarter, but the Timberwolves did make a run at the end of the frame to push their lead back up to seven points entering the final quarter of play.

But then came the charge from Irving, beginning with a 3 for the opening bucket of the fourth quarter. When he wasn't drilling shots from outside, he was throwing lobs to the likes of Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II, who finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Reid answered a couple of Irving's 3s with his own makes from deep. Reid, who scored a team-high 23 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including 7 of 9 from 3-point range, got the nod in the fourth quarter over Karl-Anthony Towns, who struggled from the field, shooting just 4 for 16, but finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Finch said that was because of how well Reid was playing.

"Two tough games," Finch said. "It's a long series and we keep our head up. We gotta keep getting better, but a lot of basketball to be played."
