The Department of Business Administration

The inauguration of the college of human resource development (cohred) dates back to the early 1980s,when it was just but a department of social sciences in the former jomo kenyatta college of agriculture and technology, department business admistration, welcome to the department of business administration. the main objective of the department is to provide graduates that will be useful in building resource capacity in the job market and enabling organizations meet their goals. to achieve this the department offers several postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate programmes that are designed to ensure that they meet industry needs. these programmes are taught by highly qualified staff including resource support from the industry. this is done while espousing the values of the university which include: integrity; professionalism; innovativeness; dynamism; team work; patriotism., dr doris m mbugua.

Departmental Objectives

Department of Business Administration is one of the leading departments at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology that the University depends on to achieve some of its financial and strategic goals. To contribute to the overall development DBA has to align itself to Vision 2030 In response to environment analysis, the department plans to undertake the following specific objectives during the next twelve months in line with the University’s strategic plan.

• To increase the number of student admission into Certificate programs by 5% by August 31 2024.
• To increase the students completion rate by 5% per ever academic year.
• To ensure 100% observation of ISO 9001: 2015 & 150 14001 2015 procedures at all times in all the departmental activities.
• To reduce failures rate amongst the students to less than 5% per every semester through application of technologically driven teaching techniques.
• To review the existing programmes at the end of the academic cycle.

Dr Doris Mbugua

Senior lecturer.

Dr. Doris V. Mbugua is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration, specializing in Marketing. With a PhD in Business Administration (Marketing) and an MBA from the University of Nairobi, she brings extensive academic credentials to her role. Dr. Mbugua also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Kenya Institute of Marketing and is currently pursuing a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She has supervised numerous students at both PhD and Masters levels and serves as a mentor to several undergraduate students, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and student development.

Dr Joyce Amuhaya

I am passionate about exploring the dynamics of global markets, strategic decision-making, and the role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and innovation.
