Introduction

The BS Urdu program is a four-year program that will replace BA and MA Urdu as per the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission.

Objectives: 1. To teach Urdu language and literature to the students according to the requirements of distance education system. 2. To introduce Urdu language and literature to other social sciences. 3. To impart proficiency equivalent to sixteen years of education in Urdu language and literature, on the basis of which students can play their role in practical life and can also obtain higher education on the basis of this degree.

Duration : The duration of this course is four years, in which according to the instructions of the Higher Education Commission, in view of the all-round educational requirements of the students, nine compulsory, eight general (Foundation), thirteen specialized Major (four specialized optional) (Elective within the Major papers are included.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Minimum educational qualification Intermediate second division (45%) 2. Candidates are requested to attach their recent photograph, attested copies of educational certificates and marks sheet of intermediate with the admission form. 3. Eligible candidates should submit the form along with fee as per the procedure given in the prospectus.

Teaching Methodology

The language of instruction will be Urdu and English.

This program will be offered through distance learning (Distance Learning Mode) across the country. Tutorial meetings and workshops will be an integral part of teaching. For each course there will be four days of tutorial classes and three days of four hours daily workshop. 70% attendance in workshops is compulsory.

(Note): Apart from the three papers of English, if the Urdu version of the courses of other departments is available, it will be preferred.

Mphil / phd urdu.

The Department of Urdu has greatly contributed in the promotion and development of Urdu language and literature since its birth in 1963. The Department started MPhil and PhD programmers in 2004 and 2009, respectively.

Urdu language has become a craze all over the world and it has connected us with the literary tradition and great works of cross cultural literary studies plus new critical theories, prevalent in the modern literature. This vision of the Department is being worked upon by implementing that frame of policies guide us to this direction.

Introducation

The department of Urdu in GCUF was established in 1963 at post graduate level and very illuminating teacher Mr. Manzoor Hussain Shoar became its first chairman and academic leader. After attaining the status of University, Professor Ishfaq Hussain Bukhari became the first Chairman of the department of Urdu. The department introduced its MPhil programme in addition to its regular master programme. The MPhil programme was started on 2004 and PhD programme started on 2009. The department has recently started BS Urdu four years programmes in 2010. The Department has designed various new courses, like, Computer Literacy, translation, communication skills and script writing. The department is making every effort to encourage and nourish creative talent as well as research aptitude of students. A Journal of Research Zuban-o-Adab’ is being published by the department according to the parameters of HEC. Biannual literary magazine of the department reflects also its endeavor to develop creative talents of our youth. Since 2006 the department has been publishing its Research Journal “Zuban-o-Adab” which has got wide recognition and approved by HEC in 2011. In order to have better introduction the Department has Six International Conferences and Seminars as under:First International Conference on “Urdu Tehqiq-o-Tanqeed Aalmi Tanazur Mein” held on 29th to 31st August 2006.International Seminar on the topic of “QaumiTashkhus Main Zaban-o-Adab Aur Saqafat kakirdar “held on March 7, 2008.International Seminar Ghalib held on March 27, 2008,National Seminar on Faiz Ahmed Faiz held on February 16,2009. Faiz Ahmed Faiz International Conference on 3 November, 2011.AllamaIqbal International Conference 28 to 30 November,2012.

Semiotic-semantic discourse analysis, as a suitable model for religious text analysis, particularly Nahj al-Balagha, utilizes the tensive semiotics model introduced by Jacques Fontanille and Claude Zilberberg. This model delves into the intricate interplay between intensive (emotional, internal) and expansive (cognitive, external) valencies, offering valuable insights into the dynamic structure of the text, emphasizing the tensive-active and sensory-perceptive relationships. This article explores how meaning is intricately woven in the enunciation, bridging the gap between quantitative and qualitative dimensions, thus shedding light on the production of meaning in the discourse processes within the Imam's letters to Mu’awiyah. The study transcends a mere analysis of the fixed letter structure, focusing on the fluid and adaptable nature of the letters' production process and the interactive dimension between the agent and the actor in the enunciation space.
