Suggestions, my first zipline experience – a lifetime adventure experience.

' src=

Because of the Covid-19, the tourism industry of Nepal is in the sleeping mode. As a trekking and tour guide, there is nothing to do for me. So that I was thinking to do something to refresh and looking for options. So I found a thrilling adventure sport called Zipline and also, nearby Kathmandu, at Dhulikhel. I decided to have my first Zipline experience.

I shared my plan with my very close friends and they are also excited to do that. But we have to wait till Saturday; one of our friends works in a company and he only gets vacation on Saturday. We fixed our plan to go to Dhulikhel to do Zipline; then I contacted the Zipline company regarding prices and I booked for 6 of us. I was so excited as well as a bit nervous because this is the first time I am going to do Zipline.

As we planned we drove to the Dulikhle for a Zipline experience. After one and half hours drive we reached the Zipline spot. When we were there, there were already many people in the queue to buy a ticket. We booked in advance so that we paid the full price for the ticket and were ready to fly. Before flying, we took some photos and listen to the instructions regarding flying.

There are three types of Zipline, Classic Zipline, Spiderman Zipline, and Couple Zipline. And I decided to do Couple Zipline because I was traveling there with my spouse. We were all set to go and it was going to be my first Zipline Experience. Interestingly, I am going to do that together with my soulmate. She was also very excited and a bit nervous to do Zipline but we were together for that so dare to fly.

Ultimately, we were on the top and we got one more time instructions about the fly. We accepted that and the countdown started, three two one and go. For the first few seconds, I felt my heart is stopped and closed my eye. On the side, my wife was shouting wow wow then I open my eye and show my beloved one flying together in a rope. The beautiful landscapes and green forest in down below.

After some time we reached the stop point and there were other instructors are waiting for us to help. They opened the harness and show us to way back down. It was my very first Zipline experience and I enjoyed it a lot with my soulmate. While we are waiting for our friends we ordered some snacks in the restaurant at the ending section. After all, arrived there we ate those snacks and then drive to the starting point.

We collected our personal belongings from the store and then drive back to Kathmandu. Photos they will post on their Facebook page. If we buy the video package then in a few days they will send the videos and photos by email. It was my first awesome and memorable Zipline experience with a loved one.

My First Zip Lining Experience & How It Nearly Went Wrong!

Zip_Lining_Nairobi

Everything you want is on the other side of fear ~ Jack Canfield

Hello my amazing friends! 😀 What’s the most terrifying thing you’ve done this year…? For me-it is hands down, Zip Lining! Any other scary thing I’ve ever done before this, now pales in comparison… 😀

A week ago, our search for adventure brought us to The Dam RedHill , for Zip Lining. Legs trembling, heart thumping wildly plus numerous self-talks & questions like… ‘Do I have to do this? I can do this! Is a blog post worth dying for? I’m not going to die, or am I? People Zip Line all the time and come out alive…right?’ 😀

I knew I was afraid to take the plunge, but when the moment actually came, it was down to the bone nerve-wrecking… Ah, but I’m getting ahead of myself… 🙂

How to Get To the Dam RedHill

The Dam RedHill is located in the outskirts of Nairobi a little past Ndenderu & Ruaka. You can board a Matatu No. 114, at Khoja Stage in the Nairobi CBD, to the Dam.

If you are driving, drive past Ruaka and Ndenderu on Limuru Road, where you will see the Dam RedHill, on your right, just before Sovereign Suites…

What to Expect At The Dam RedHill

It’s a short walking distance from the main road- just enough to get your adrenaline juices flowing…

Overlooking expansive, green Limuru Tea Farms, the Dam RedHill is quiet and beautiful. You’ll find that being surrounded by overgrown gardens, a variety of trees & the sound of nesting birds, quickly erases the hectic city life you left behind… 🙂

Zip_Line_Nairobi

They have floating restaurants on the dam, and a couple of outdoor sitting areas where you can dine as you enjoy the wild, sweeping views!

The_Dam_Redhill

We were well-received by a friendly Njeri, at the reception area, who gave us a lowdown of the activities they offer: Boat Riding, Zip Lining, Picnic & Camping grounds, Horse Riding, Fishing, a Children’s park and more…

Most of their activities range between Kes. 300 and 1,000.

The_Dam_Redhill

Our Zip Lining Experience!

The Zip Line spans the length of the dam, hovering over the water .

Dam_Redhill

Admittedly, until that point I’d been like a Zombie, floating around with that one daunting mission in view… 🙁

As I may have mentioned before, I am the kind of ‘adventurer’ that goes in kicking and screaming with fear, until the deed is done… This was no different. 😀

Evans, our instructor was kind as he explained the process about three times. To my brain, his words sounded like mismatched letters bouncing all over the place!

As he strapped on the harness, I kept looking at the Dam, thinking ‘I can’t even swim’, over again…

Zip_Lining_Nairobi

‘I don’t want to do this… It’s really not necessary…’ I tried to convince everyone, including myself.

But, since they’ve encountered such, countless times, they did not let me give up… 🙂

‘What if I get stuck in the middle?’

‘That can’t happen,’ so they said.

By far, the most daunting part was jumping off the platform. Yes, people have done way more adventurous things in this world like diving off planes… but this was incredibly petrifying!

Zip_Line_Nairobi

After about 10 minutes or so, of threats, questions, affirmations, prayer & counting… I finally gained the courage to jump!

Voila! I slid through the rope, and over the dam in a matter of seconds, all the while screaming my lungs sore! 😀

Zip_Line_Nairobi

Apparently, it’s a 13-15 seconds journey…

When The Unexpected, Unexpectedly Happens!

As I approached the safety of the ground, feeling relieved to be done, the unexpected happened. Yikes! 😀

The person on the other end failed to grab me on time, so I began to slide back… until the momentum died down, right in the middle! And there I was- stuck with nothing but air and water around me! Haha, it felt like a bad, bad dream!

Panicking, hundreds of scenarios crossed my mind!

‘ HELP!!! ’

Why was it uncomfortably quiet…??

‘ HELP?! ’ With less conviction this time.

‘We are coming…breath in and out…’ Someone shouted.

For some reason that felt like the worst, good advice I’ve ever heard…

You know you’re in trouble, when you begin contemplating your life’s decisions & wondering who will adopt the dog you never had… 🙁 As the body starts cramping, like a wise sage you suddenly gain an appreciation for the solid ground you’ve always taken for granted. So you start making promises to yourself, to God and to the ground…

After what seemed like two lifetimes, I was ‘rescued’. For this operation, Evans used his weight on the Zip Line to make me slide towards him… Then both of us were pulled back with a rope. By this time, I was simply going with the flow…

I think Wanjiku was in as much shock, because we did not get any pictures of this saga. 😀

The fears we don’t face become our limits ~ Robin Sharma

I was certain to never try this thing again… but on second thought & persuasion,I knew I had to! 😀

After all, if I did not, that would be my lasting memory of Zip Lining. So I gave it another go, this time- flawless execution and fun! 🙂 😀

Wanjiku Thuo also had a perfect Zip lining experience! We were both awed by this little girl with no fear in her eyes! This further proved that it’s a safe sport! 😀

Zip_Lining_Nairobi

  • Wear comfortable pants to prevent being hurt by the harness
  • Put on closed shoes with a good grip, so that they do not fall off in the process of Zip Lining
  • It is advisable to empty your pockets, especially if you have items that can fall off
  • If you intend to have food, order lunch from their restaurant before  Zip Lining. Their Servings are pretty generous, you can order two meals to serve 4.
  • Look out for more places to Zip Line in Kenya like> Machakos People’s Park & The Forest (Kereita).

UPDATE: Be sure to confirm that the Zip Line is safe for use, before getting on, particularly the landing strip. It is my hope that they’ve done a better job of streamlining their processes and safety procedures.

Looking back, I am glad my experience had a mishap. It helped me see that sometimes our worst fears are just that -fears.  And even when we do experience the scary, it is not the end of the world! Now, I can barely wait to try a longer Zip Line- Screams and all! 😀

What a story! So inspiring for someone who has never tried to kill the curiosity in them. Actually my first Zip lining was at the Red damhill, for sure I enjoyed and one could even think it wasn’t my first time. A great place to be with family, not forgetting couples who would want a day out to themselves I will highly recommend.

Whoa you sound like a brave heart Suzanne! Yay thank you for reading! And I am glad you could relate, and enjoyed this post! Super appreciated! 😀

I broke my ankle at the end when landing and it swelled immediately. The pain!!!!!!! Alafu The ladies at the end that were supposed to help started arguing amongst themselves if I would be right to sue them! And arguing some more if they should get me the chair that was at most a metre behind them as I could hardly stand! Don’t forget how one of them showed me the injuries she sustained when ziplining. What kind of encouragement is that???? Their supervisor came and had them bring me an ice pack. Would I zipline again? Yes, but not at RedHill Dam.

Oh my….Gosh, aki pole. That is indeed far too sad! Goodness, I would hope that they have streamlined their process by now, so it’s disappointing to hear what happened. Very very sad. 🙁 I am truly sorry about the incident, and hope that your ankle heals soon. I feel you! I want to zip-line again, but hoping to try another place the next time. Thank you for taking the time to share your account. My heart is heavy. 🙁

There’s nothing quite like your first zip-line experience. You pop on a helmet and a harness, clip into the trolley, and stand at the edge of a platform. Somehow, it’s a lot higher from up there than it looked from the ground. But after working up the courage, you take a deep breath, grip the handles, and leap from the platform.

Zzzzzzhhhhhhhhhhh — the trolley whistles as it glides on the zip line. You fly over the treetops before the brakes kick in and you slow to a halt. The guides pull you in to safety on the next platform. Exhilarated, you can’t believe your first zip-line ride ended so quickly — and you’re ready for the next one.

Zip-lining is one of those quintessential adventures every thrill-seeking traveler should experience at least once . The US witnesses a surge in ziplining’s popularity. The Global Adventure Tourism Market Report forecasts a $2 billion growth in the ziplining market by 2030. This trend fuels tourism in states like California, Colorado, and North Carolina, renowned for abundant outdoor activities and thriving ziplines.

Looking to try it on your next trip? Here’s what you need to know before you zip-line for the first time.

What Is Ziplining? – 9 Things To Know Before You Try It For The First Time

1. is zip-lining safe.

By and large, ziplining has a reputation for being both fun and safe. However, there are some risks associated with riding a zip line that everyone should be aware of. A 2015 study looked at data from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System and found that there were 16,850 zip-line-related injuries between 1997 and 2012. Almost half of the zip-line injuries occurred in people 9 years old and younger, and the majority of the injuries were the result of falls. Deaths, while rare, have also happened on zip lines.

A little proactivity can go a long way toward keeping yourself safe at a zip-line course. First, be discerning when it comes to where you choose to zip-line. Regulation from state to state varies , and there are no countrywide standards for constructing and operating zip lines. If you’re considering booking an experience at a particular place, it’s worth picking up the phone to ask how they train their staff, how frequently they inspect their courses, what kind of safety record they have, and whether they adhere to safety standards set by industry organizations such as the Professional Ropes Course Association or the Association for Challenge Course Technology. Only move forward with a company whose answers make you confident in your safety.

When you’re on the zip-line course, pay attention. Follow rules on any signage, and listen to the staff’s instructions. Keep your safety gear on at all times. And if you ever have any concerns about the zip-line course, mention them to the staff.

All of that being said, zip-lining is an extremely popular outdoor activity . Tens of thousands of people have a safe experience on zip lines every year. Do your due diligence, follow directions, and you’ll likely be fine.

2. How Scary Is Zip-Lining?

As someone who has tried 20 or so zip lines around the world, I’ll be honest: It’s scary. Not terrifying, but zip lines will definitely make your heart pound. The scariest part of ziplining is jumping off the platform. You have to fight your natural instincts and put trust in your guides and gear to finally make that jump — but it’s worth it. You’ll feel completely free as you defy gravity and zoom over the trees, the wind blowing in your hair and your feet dangling below. You’ll find the experience so exhilarating that you’ll want to clip into the next zip line and take off again as soon as you finish your first ride.

3. What’s The Weight Limit For Zip-Lining?

It’s common for zip-line operators to boast that their equipment is capable of holding a truck. However, their zip lines usually still come with weight restrictions in order to protect guests. A rider who’s too light might inadvertently stop in the middle of the zip line, making for a less-than-optimal experience. Riders who are too heavy may hit the landing platform too quickly, which could potentially cause injuries.

Generally speaking, zip-line riders should be between 60 and 275 pounds. Some courses have limits on waist circumference as well. Ask your operator about his or her course’s specific restrictions.

4. What Should You Wear For Zip-Lining?

Your clothes will have a direct impact on how comfortable you are throughout the zip-line tour. Wear breathable layers that you can easily move around in. Long shorts, trousers, leggings, or capri pants will give you some padding against the harness and make the ride more comfortable. On warmer days , throw on a T-shirt or tank top. A long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt might be a better option in cooler weather. Opt for close-toed shoes, like hiking boots or sneakers — flip-flops and sandals are a no-no on many zip lines since they’re prone to falling off in the air. You should also avoid accessories and garments (like scarves, hats, and long necklaces) that could get tangled in the zip-line trolley or fly off during the ride. If you wear glasses, secure them around your neck with a cord. As for safety gear, your guide will provide all the protective equipment you’ll need for safe ziplining.

5. Do You Have To Be In Shape To Ride A Zip Line?

Haven’t hit the gym in a while? Don’t sweat it — ziplines are friendly to people of many levels of physical ability. While you will grip the handles, you’re actually supported entirely by the harness, so you won’t be exerting any upper-body strength to hold yourself up. You may experience a little bit of stress on your ankles and knees as you climb from the zip line to the landing platform, but guides typically reach out to help riders during that process. The most physical activity required is walking between the zip lines. Some ziplining courses involve short hikes, stairs, and suspension bridges. Check with the owners to see what their specific courses entail.

6. How Fast Are Zip Lines?

The speed at which you fly down the zip line is one of the most thrilling parts of the experience. Zip World in North Wales is reputed to have the world’s fastest ziplining ride, hitting top speeds of 125 miles per hour. Most zip lines are a lot tamer, though. According to a survey by Head Rush Technologies, which sells zip-line equipment, 31 to 40 miles per hour was the most frequent top speed achieved by riders. Many others experienced zip-line rides between 21 and 30 miles per hour and 41 and 50 miles per hour.

7. How Do You Stop On A Zip Line?

There are two main types of braking systems on a zip line: passive and active. As the name implies, passive-braking zip lines use speed-reduction mechanisms to slow you down automatically — no need for you to do anything. Active braking, on the other hand, will require you to slow yourself down. You may need to grab the steel cable (wearing leather gloves provided by the operator) or pull down on a brake to create friction at the right time. Asking which type of brakes a particular operator uses can give you clarity before your first zip-line experience.

8. Where Are The Best Places To Zip-Line?

There are hundreds of zip lines across the United States. Here are a few standout ziplining options to consider:

Mega Zips at Louisville Mega Cavern : A former limestone mine is now home to the world’s only fully underground attraction with zip line courses. The tours, which take 2 hours and 30 minutes, involve six underground zip lines, including a dual-racing line.

KapohoKine Adventures: KapohoKine Adventures takes aerial thrills to the next level on its HeliZippin’ Volcano tours. You’ll start by taking a helicopter ride over Hawaii’s most impressive volcanoes . Then you’ll work your way through an eight-line zip-line course that takes you 160 feet above waterfalls.

Mica Moon Zip Tours & Aerial Park : Each one of Mica Moon’s 10 zip lines offers something special, taking guests over forest glens, a private valley, a mountain stream, and the historic “moonshine camps” at Liberty Lake, just outside of Spokane, Washington. But the most adrenaline-inducing zip line at the course is known as “Big Mama.” At 3,500 feet long, Big Mama will take your breath away.

New York Zipline Canopy Tours: Experience the excitement of zip-lining after dark with New York Zipline Canopy Tours. Under the twinkling night sky, you’ll race across six zip lines and test your balance on four suspension bridges on this tour in the Catskill Mountains . The grand finale is a 65-foot rappel down to the forest floor.

Historic Banning Mills: Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg, Georgia, holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest continuous zip-line course. This means that your guides don’t have to clip you in and out between zip lines and makes for a seamless adventure. The attraction features more than 100 zip lines and 10 miles of canopy tours.

Costa Rica also has a zip line that you can visit.

9. History of Zip Lining

Origins of zip lining.

Zip Lining dates back hundreds of years. It was used in the tricky terrain in Ancient China, the Himalayas, the Andes, and the Alps, as a way to move goods and people from one area to another.

The early zip-lining systems consisted of woven ropes tied between two points. The person or goods were placed in a seat or platform and then transported across the rope. Zip lining has ancient roots and different iterations of this invention have been developed in many parts of the world.

History of Modern Zip Lining

Zip lining as we know it was made popular by wildlife biologists who were looking for a way to study and explore densely forested areas of Costa Rica in the 1970s without disturbing the surroundings.

Rainforests were the main areas they wanted to explore. The wildlife biologists set up the system throughout the rainforests, which helped them have a bird’s-eye view of the tropical forest areas and witness natural events in their natural habitat. This is when the business idea for the eco-tours came up.

After their research was done, the lines were repurposed for recreational canopy tours. This tour idea quickly spread from there to many areas all around the world.

What Equipment Is Used For Zip Lining?

Five pieces of equipment that make zip lining possible are a trolly, or a pulley system to glide down the track quickly, harnesses that keep you in place, carabiners, brakes to stop at the right point, and helmets crucial for your safety. The equipment should be approved by the Association for Challenge Course Technology.

What Should You Not Do When Zip Lining?

You should never jump off the platform until you’re instructed to do so. Wait until other adult users are cleared before you take a turn, and always pay attention to safety briefings. You should never alter or adjust the equipment on your own.

Where Was the Idea of Zip Lining Conceived?

Zip lining was first used in Ancient China to safely cross dangerous areas. It was also used in the Himalayas and Alps as a way of transportation, and in Latin America for observation purposes. As a business idea and recreational activity, it is fairly new.

Is Zip Lining Good for Me?

Yes, for fitness fans who want to build their endurance and stamina, zip lining is a good move. Climbing through a ropes course and flying down a zipline doesn’t just get your blood pumping, but also builds longer-term endurance.

What Are the Best Places to Zipline in the World?

Costa Rican Mahogany Park is probably the most famous zip-lining location.  Other popular destinations include New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and UAE, where the world’s longest zip-lining adventure is.

The 7 Things You Need to Know Before Your First Ziplining Experience

October 20, 2017

You’ve got the opportunity to go ziplining and you’re freezing up for some reason.

There’s a rush of excitement followed by a little pang of fear, and you’re unsure how to feel. Are you nervous? Excited?

These feelings are normal when you’re faced with a brand new experience, especially when it involves something that’s thrilling to your core. A ziplining experience is something that you’re not likely to forget and it’s absolutely worth your time.

When you zipline in an adventure park, you’re doing it safely. Safe ziplining might still have your heart rate accelerated, though, so we’re going to take a look at some things that are helpful to know before your first experience.

Hopefully, the ideas below can turn that nervous energy into full-blown excitement.

Guides Are There Every Step Of The Way

The only time you’ll be alone throughout the experience is when you’re soaring down the line. Before that, you’re in very capable and experienced hands.

Our staff is trained very well and can talk you through every step of the safety process, make sure you’re comfortable, and give you any additional information. If you’re terrified of heights, we’d expect nothing less than having you clear up any questions that you have.

Rest assured that you can get all of the understanding you need before you start any ziplining in the adventure course.

Dress For The Park

If you’re coming in the early fall or late spring, make sure that you’re dressed warm enough for the park. Alternatively, wear something that will keep you cool in the summertime.

Ziplining requires that you don’t have loose-fitting or flowing clothes on. Dresses, flowing shirts, skirts, or other items that dangle and flow might be safety hazards. The same is true for loose jewelry that could get caught.

Find something that’s comfortable, moveable, and fits close enough to your body that nothing would interfere with the equipment. It’s also a must that you bring close-toed shoes. If you have them, do your best to break out those old athletic shoes.

Try To Embrace Your First Run

The first time you zipline, you might have the urge to just close your eyes and push through the experience. Keep in mind that the first time is the most exhilarating time!

Once you step forth and set into motion, there’s no turning back so it’s best to zoom with eyes wide open. Odds are that you’ll absolutely love the experience. Then you can gear up for the rest of your day and enjoy the process fully.

After the first time, you’ll get a feel for the degree of safety and skill that goes into managing the adventure park. That leaves you to enjoy a safe and thrilling course.

Do your best to take everything in and make memories while you can.

Safety Is Number One

Thrill-seeking activities and other potentially frightening pastimes get a bad reputation. With no knowledge of these things, it’s natural to assume that the courses would be run haphazardly without safety in mind.

After all, who in their right mind would ride a zipline or climb a cliff face?

Fortunately for everyone involved, professionals are often more aware of safety and risk than the average first-timer. Things stop being thrilling when they become dangerous. Those who dedicated their lives to these activities, then, have a deep investment in their safety and the safety of others.

When you come to the park you’ll find trained staff that will take wonderful care of you, full-body harnesses, fail-proof safety measures, and opportunities to practice before you get anywhere near an actual line.

Listen Closely To Your Guides

The only space for error in the process is in the way that you treat the guides. It’s very important to pay attention to the guides and listen to what they say. Following their instructions is the absolute best way to have a good time and stay safe.

While it’s still extremely difficult for serious errors to occur at any time, you’re less likely to enjoy yourself if you’re not privy to the directions of the staff. You’ll find yourself a little less confident and a little more frightened.

When visitors and staff work in harmony, everyone in the park is able to have a better time.

Prepare To Get Addicted

Doubtful visitors are often surprised to find that they were actually adrenaline junkies somewhere deep down. The zipline park might just bring the thrill-seeker out for the first time.

While you’re at the park, take in the feeling you get. Enjoy the rush of adrenaline that comes when you start moving and savor the endorphins that rush through as you come down from a challenging activity.

These are extremely healthy and positive feelings. Endorphins are an excellent way to improve your mood, relieve pain, and calm stress levels.

Empty Out Your Pockets!

The last thing you want is to lose your phone or keys while you’re having the time of your life.

Be sure to take everything off of your person before you start the ziplining process. You might want to bring your phone to take videos or selfies, but that’s not advised. We suggest you have friends or family take photos of you from below while you’re safely going about your journey.

Things that fall out of your pockets are likely to break upon landing. Further, they might be very difficult to find and recover. So, if you’re thinking about bringing anything along while you’re up there, make sure that you’re willing to lose it if it falls out of your pockets.

Top 5 Concerns Riders Have About Their First Zip Line Experience

If you are a zip line operator or guide, you may have forgotten what it's like to be new to zip lining, the excitement and the anxiety that many first time guests feel.  When trying to improve the zip line experience, it's important to think about all experience levels and abilities.  Think about the questions, worries, or concerns that your first time zip liners will have compared to someone who has zip lined many times before.

Here are some of the most common things riders think about before or during their first zip line experience.  Are you able to provide the best answers to these questions?

How do I stop on the zip line?

This is one of the most common first questions that zip line riders will ask their guides about the zip line experience.  They are excited to fly down the line, sure, but they also know that something has to happen at the end of the line.  That something is one of the most critical parts of zip line safety, so it's understandable that riders want to know what to expect.

There are a variety of different zip line braking methods , and braking can be either active (requiring action from the rider) or passive (braking that happens automatically with no participant involvement).  If your zip line involves passive braking, then you can immediately put your riders at ease by telling them they don't have to do anything to brake at the end of the line and that braking will occur automatically.

What if I forget something or mess it up?

Similarly, if it is someone's first zip line experience, they will be thinking about all the details, signals, and actions they may have to remember.  That's no fun!  Your zip line guests should be thinking about the excitement and scenery of the ride.

If you have a zipSTOP Zip Line Brake on your lines, you will luckily be able to tell your riders to sit back and enjoy the view.  They won't have to worry about when or how to brake, and the zip line guides will take care of the rest.  No more worries for your guests about forgetting important details or doing something wrong.

What do I hold on to?

It's natural for your zip line riders to want to hold on to something as they go down the line.  Some zip lines have riders put their hands on top of the zip line trolley, but this can increase the risk of someone pinching (or worse) their finger between the trolley and the line.  Other zip lines have long lanyard where guests usually grip.  This is an ok option.

The best option is to have a zip line trolley handle.  This gives an obvious place for your riders to hold on to.  Plus, the handle will feel more secure for them as they cruise down the line.  The LightSpeed Impact Zip Line Trolley features a handle accessory that sits well below the trolley and the line to keep hands out of the way and prevent pinching.

Can I control my orientation?

Nothing is more distracting for a zip line rider than rotating uncontrollably as they go down the line.  You want to look around and enjoy the view but keep turning this way and that!  This is just one more reason to add a zip line trolley handle.  Riders feel in control and won't end up riding your line backwards, which can be disconcerting and potentially unsafe when they enter the braking zone.  It's an easy accessory to add that dramatically improves the rider's zip line experience.

Will you take our photo?

Hopefully the tour ends and this is the final question from your guests.  If so, that means they want to remember and share their zip line experience, and it's a sign that they had a great time.  Be ready for these opportunities and think about a good location at the end of the tour where you can take group photos.  Make sure there is some signage that features your tour name and location so it can be in the photo.

If you can confidently answer each of these questions, your zip line is on its way to providing an excellent rider experience.  Learn more about designing an outstanding zip line and what goes into the brake system to make the best rider experience and to increase throughput.
