Mastering PTE Essays: Your Winning Formula for 89+ Scores

Your search for the ideal PTE Essay template ends now! While you may have encountered many PTE writing essay templates, Edulyte offers the best template for the PTE exam. Go ahead and take your PTE prep to the next level with our essay template for PTE. Each component of the PTE essay is explained in the template to empower you to write scoring essays quickly.

Introduction for the PTE Essay

Your essay should begin with an attention-grabbing introduction. Our template for writing essays in PTE is based on instructions from Edulyte’s mentors.

These include:

  • Start with a clear and concise introduction.
  • State the topic of your essay and provide some background information.
  • Include a thesis statement outlining your essay’s main point or argument.

Social media has become integral to our daily lives, revolutionising how we communicate, share information, and interact with the world. Social media has a profound and multi-pronged effect on contemporary society, examining its advantages and disadvantages, and its role in shaping our lives.

Body Paragraphs for the PTE Essay

Moving on to the main body of your essay, here is the section where you present your arguments clearly and concisely. Our essay template for the PTE exam gives you an accurate idea of how to approach this part of the essay.

Instructions:

  • Each body paragraph should focus on a single point or idea that supports your thesis statement.
  • Start each paragraph with a topic sentence that introduces the paragraph’s main point.
  • Provide evidence or examples to help your point. It can include personal experiences, facts, statistics, or quotes.
  • Explain how the evidence or examples relate to your argument.
  • Use transition words and phrases to ensure smooth transitions between paragraphs.

Firstly, social media has transformed the way we connect. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram enable us to stay in touch with friends and family, regardless of geographical distances. The convenience of instant messaging and video calls has bridged gaps and brought people closer together. It is substantiated by the act that there are around 4.8 billion social media users globally today.

Secondly, social media has amplified the dissemination of information. News and events spread rapidly through these platforms, providing real-time updates on global affairs. It has empowered citizens to stay informed, express their opinions, and discuss important issues. People base their opinions about current events and social issues based on what they read on social media.

Counter argument (if applicable) for the PTE Essay

This segment of your essay should have a counterargument. It must precisely place rational points against the ones you have mentioned in your earlier arguments. In our PTE essay template, you can see that social media’s ill effects are clearly mentioned.

  • If there is a counterargument to your thesis, acknowledge it in a separate paragraph.
  • Present the counterargument fairly and objectively.
  • Refute the counterargument by providing evidence or reasons why it is not valid.

However, social media’s influence is not without its drawbacks. One primary concern is the spread of misinformation and fake news, which can have significant consequences. The viral nature of social media can lead to the rapid dissemination of false information, causing panic and confusion. As per a study, more than 80% of social media users believe it affects their mental well-being.

Some argue that social media has led to increased social isolation and addiction. Excessive use of platforms like Instagram can lead to feelings of inadequacy and lower self-esteem as individuals compare themselves to idealised images portrayed online.

Conclusion for the PTE Essay

Wind up your essay on a note that showcases a balance of arguments and counterarguments. In this PTE easy essay template, you can read the conclusion about the influence of social media.

  • Summarise the main points of your essay.
  • Restate your thesis statement in different words.
  • Provide a concluding thought or insight that leaves a lasting impression on the reader.
  • Avoid introducing new information in the conclusion.

In conclusion, social media has profoundly impacted our lives, enhancing communication and information sharing. Nevertheless, we must remain vigilant against the negative consequences, such as misinformation and addiction. To harness the benefits of social media while mitigating its drawbacks, individuals must use these platforms responsibly and critically. Social media is a tool that can connect us, inform us, and empower us, but it is our responsibility to ensure it enhances our lives rather than detracts from them.

The Right Strategy for PTE Success

Preparing for the PTE exam isn’t just about practicing endlessly or cramming loads of study materials. It’s also about following the right strategy, and one such strategy is the use of templates.

Templates for each section of the PTE Academic

Speaking templates.

Using a template in speaking is extremely important as it will assist you in fluency and prevent hesitations during your speech. Additionally, the tasks where we use speaking templates aren’t as critical. It’s easier to learn the template rather than spending a lot of time studying, allowing you to focus on more important exercises.

1. Describe Image:

In this exercise, you’ll describe an image displayed on the screen.

Your answer must have an introduction, middle, and conclusion. We are providing you with the first two phrases of a template to help you begin practicing.

*You can access this full template and many others through our preparation courses.

” This image shows an important topic, and it gives information about ____ and ____.

This image also describes the major aspects of ____ and ____ in many categories as ____ and _____. It can be seen that the most important aspect is _____. “

Smart Tip: Remember, your job here is to describe the image, not explain it.

Use the preparation time to decide which keywords you’ll use and where they’ll fit in. They should seamlessly blend into the template. Focus on using words you’re comfortable pronouncing to avoid losing points

Listening Templates

Summarize spoken text:.

In this task, you’ll hear an audio and your mission is to c reate a summary in one paragraph. Keep in mind that you’re working with a computer and can use pre-existing phrases while identifying keywords from the audio. We’re providing the i nitial part of a template for this exercise to help you practice and become familiar with it.

“In this lecture, the speaker discussed major information about KEYWORD. According to the speaker, the connection between KEYWORD, KEYWORD and KEYWORD is important. Moreover, it was mentioned that KEYWORD, KEYWORD and KEYWORD are relevant to the topic.

Smart Tip:

While listening, write down keywords. Focus on identifying the most important words for the topic.

Writing Exercise with Templates

Write an essay:.

In this question, you’ll have to write an essay on a given topic, and you must stay within 200-300 words. We offer two types of essay templates, one for lower scores , and one for higher scores.

“Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate between people about TOPIC. While it is possible to assert that both ideas have advantages and drawbacks, my view is that the advantages of my idea outweigh the disadvantages. There are several reasons in favor of my point. The most prominent is YOUR IDEA . One of the reasons is that EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA . It should also be considered that GIVE AN EXAMPLE. Therefore, I can support my idea that ANSWER THE QUESTION. Those who disagree with these ideas have a different view and argue that OPPOSITE IDEA. It is claimed that EXPLAIN THE OPPOSITE IDEA. There is a widespread worry that this will lead to a myriad of concerns in one’s life. However, I do not entirely accept this and I will explain why in this essay. There are a number of arguments in favor of my stance. Most preponderant one is that <positive point of the topic> and there are numerous other benefits in various fields. Thanks to the wide range of advantages it offers, not only one benefit more when it comes to being effective, but they can enhance productivity and quality of their lives, with much ease, efficacy, and convenience. Needless to say, all these merits stand one in good stead, as far as augmenting the chances of prosperity and excellence is concerned. Another pivotal factor in the aforementioned proposition is that it is only likely to help one thrive and excel in varied areas. Besides, when only one follows such a system, can they broaden their horizons, thus learning such attributes as dedication and perseverance. Hence, it is apparent why many are in favor of <positive key point> . In the views of the arguments outlined above, one can conclude that the benefits of <positive key point> are indeed too great to ignore.

This is one universal template, which we can use for any type of essays. Start with an introduction, two body paragraphs and conclusion at the end. Again, with this template you can get 79+ but you have to make sure that the other writing tasks should be attended well without any mistakes. Using this template you can score in grammar, spelling, vocabulary and written discourse as well.

Now we will see example for each type of essays.

Agree or disagree

Big salary is much more important than job satisfaction. Do you agree or disagree? Provide relevant examples if necessary. Here they have directly given as agree or disagree. Sometimes they will not mention this and we have to identify by understanding the topic. Always mention the negative side of the topic in the first paragraph. Some contradicting point relevant to the main idea in the second paragraphs and supporting points in the subsequent paragraphs..

Using Template One of the conspicuous trends of today’s world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that low salary is more disadvantageous . There is a widespread worry that this will lead to a myriad of concerns in one’s life. However, I do not entirely accept this and I will explain why in this essay. There are a number of arguments in favor of my stance. Most preponderant one is that job satisfaction gives people a sense of fulfillment and there are numerous other benefits in various fields. Hence, it is apparent why many are in favor of job satisfaction . In the views of the arguments outlined above, one can conclude that the benefits of job satisfaction are indeed too great to ignore.

Here, there is a widespread worry and leads to a concern. People are worrying that low salary is a concern. However, I do not entirely accept because low salary is fine for me as long as I get job satisfaction. Please make a note of this point. Since we are not agreeing, always mention the negative point in the introduction and the contradicting point should be positive in body paragraph1. In this way, you can follow the same template for any essay in PTE writing. Also you will not go out of the topic.

Big salary is much more important than job satisfaction. I am going to mention low salary is disadvantage instead of big salary is advantage. Because I am going to support points for job satisfaction. Big salary is not important for me compared to job satisfaction. Therefore, I am mentioning big salary as negative point. Myriad – is an academic vocabulary. We have enough vocabularies in this template like this.

There are number of arguments in favour of my stance. Most preponderant one is that job satisfaction… here job satisfaction is a contradicting point to low salary. Wide range of advantages, benefit, broaden their horizons – These are all supporting points to this sentence. Hence it is apparent why many are in favour of job satisfaction. In conclusion also job satisfaction are indeed too great to ignore. After replacing the points just read the entire essay once again to make sure that the points are fit to the template in terms of content and grammar. And also check the spelling mistakes if any. Here we are getting 227 words and it is totally fine.

Discuss two opinions

Some people point that experiential learning can work well in formal education. However, others think a traditional form of teaching is the best. Do you think experiential learning can work well in high schools or colleges?

What type of essay is this? ‘Experiential learning and traditional form of teaching’. So two points mentioned here and ‘Do you think’ is asking our opinion. So discuss two opinions is the prompt.

Again mention which one you don’t support in the introduction paragraph, but negatively. People believing that experiential learning is best compared to traditional way of education. Here I am mentioning traditional way of education is not the best as negatively. And it is mentioned as concern to people but I am not accepting it. I am supporting experiential learning is the best. Hence, mention some points of experiential learning in body paragraph1. In body paragraph2, it is apparent why many are in favour of experiential learning and even in conclusion as well. Read the entire essay once for proofreading.

Using Template One of the conspicuous trends of today’s world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that experiential learning is best compared to traditional way of education . There is a widespread worry that this will lead to a myriad of concerns in one’s life. However, I do not entirely accept this and I will explain why in this essay. There are a number of arguments in favor of my stance. Most preponderant one is that experiential way of learning provides practical knowledge and there are numerous other benefits in various fields. Hence, it is apparent why many are in favor of experiential learning . In the views of the arguments outlined above, one can conclude that the benefits of experiential learning are indeed too great to ignore.

Some universities deduct students’ marks if work is given late. What is your opinion and recommend some alternative actions for this problem?

Here it is mentioned as problem and asking for solution. Recommend some alternative actions – solution. So it should be problems and solutions. Negative point of the topic – already the topic itself has some negative point – Deduct students’ marks. Mention it in introduction.

People believing that some universities reduce students’ marks for late submission of their assignments. Is this a concern? No I do not entirely accept this. Because students learn to manage time. Here it is not necessary to provide new solution. Time management is the solution here. Remember that we can write an essay in PTE writing section using many different ideas. But the structure and relevant information are the key to score more points. In body paragraph2, it is in favour of time management and in conclusion as well.

Using Template One of the conspicuous trends of today’s world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that some universities reduce students’ marks for late submission of their assignments . There is a widespread worry that this will lead to a myriad of concerns in one’s life. However, I do not entirely accept this and I will explain why in this essay. There are a number of arguments in favor of my stance. Most preponderant one is that students learn how to manage time and there are numerous other benefits in various fields. Causes and Effects

The time people devote in job leaves very little time for personal life. How widespread is the problem? What problem will this shortage of time cause?

Here also there is a problem statement but here solution is not asked. What effects will this problem can create? So causes and effects is the prompt here. Shortage of time for personal life leads to many family problems – negative side of the topic.

Explain why this is not a problem – in long term perspective one can achieve high standard of living, variations in lifestyle, luxurious life with the family – these are the effects, positive effects. There are negative effects as well such as disputes among families, stress and depression due to lot of work but that is not required to mention. And in body paragraph2, mention why many are in favour of – spending less time for family. Same point in conclusion as well.

Using Template One of the conspicuous trends of today’s world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that shortage of time for personal life leads to many family problems . There is a widespread worry that this will lead to a myriad of concerns in one’s life. However, I do not entirely accept this and I will explain why in this essay. With the increase of digital media available online, the role of the library has become obsolete. Universities should only procure digital media rather than constantly updating textbooks. Discuss both the advantages and disadvantages.

So we have to discuss both advantages and disadvantages. Advantages of digital media outweighs drawbacks in library is the negative point. So the contradicting point is digital media provides latest information in one click. Therefore, many are in favour of digital media. Simple.

Using Template One of the conspicuous trends of today’s world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that advantages of digital media outweighs the drawbacks of traditional way of reading in the library . So this is how we can use the same template for all types of essays. Read the topic, write the template quickly in the textbox and then modify the topic sentence and supporting points. Finally verify if everything is correct. However if you still have dilemma whether you can use the template or not, you can use the method, which we will discuss now. Before moving on to the method, we will quickly see some tips and strategies to avoid any mistakes and utilize the 20 minutes time wisely.

PTE Essay Writing Tips and Strategies

Before you start writing, you need to plan what you are going to write. Read the topic and plan your ideas in the first 2 minutes. Gather some relevant points, your experience related to the topic and some supporting points if any. Take 15 minutes to write and review in the last 3 minutes. This will save you from having to stop and restart from the beginning. Check the grammar and spelling mistakes if any. You have to read the entire essay, word by word to make sure error free text and get full points in grammar and spelling.

Always use the structure and limit the number of lines. Introduction, 2 body paragraphs and a conclusion. This will do to write around 230 to 260 words, which is more than enough. But how will you check if you will be able to complete your essay in PTE writing within the word limit. Though you can see the word count at the bottom, even when you complete the first body paragraph itself, sometimes you will be reaching around 180 to 200 words. Therefore, limit the number of lines for each paragraph as mentioned below.

Introduction – not more than 2 lines. Body paragraphs – 3 and 1/2 to 4 lines each. Conclusion – 1 to 1 and 1/2 lines.

This itself will bring you around 270 words. Here I am just talking about the number of lines based on the textbox given in the PTE test. In each line we can write around 25 to 30 words. Therefore, for 10 lines we can easily get around 260 to 270 words. Don’t write many points in body paragraph1 itself. Then you need to reduce your points in paragraph2. If you reach up to 4 sentences in first paragraph then complete the sentence and start writing the next paragraph. Believe me! You can save much time if you follow this strategy.

Avoid very long sentences. The more you extend your sentences, the more likely you will be to make grammar and punctuation errors. Make it simple and clear. Use complex sentences though but not very big sentences. Build your vocabulary skill by reading newspapers or hearing BBC news channel without video. Hear only the audio news to concentrate more.

Let us see how you have to structure your essay using the method.

PTE Essay Writing Method

Even in the method as well, you have to stick to the structure to get more points in written discourse. Always start with introduction, 2 body paragraphs and a conclusion.

Introduction Let us have a look on how to write the introduction. For introduction, just paraphrase the topic sentence and add a supporting point. You can start the introduction as, It is often argued that, It is commonly believed that etc.

Body Paragraph1 Start the first body paragraph as To begin with, First of all or Firstly. And then continue the paragraph with supporting points using Secondly and Finally.

Body Paragraph2 Start the second paragraph with Nevertheless or However with some contradicting points for the first paragraph and mention how it can be resolved. You can also extend your second paragraph by supporting the paragraph1 instead of arguing against it using Moreover or Furthermore.

In addition, support your points with some examples. You can include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. Start the example using For instance, To illustrate, In my own experience etc. If you support your points with examples, you will get more points to add and you can easily make it relevant to the topic.

Conclusion Finally, write the conclusion as In conclusion or To conclude, and mention which statement is most convincing to support the topic sentence.

Each of these paragraphs need only a few sentences to clearly get your point. And finally proofread your content to make sure you don’t do any spelling or grammar mistakes. Now we will see how to use the method for this topic. We have already seen this example using template. Apply all the points that we discussed now.

Big salary is much more important than job satisfaction. Do you agree or disagree? Provide relevant examples if necessary.

Use the below structure.

It is often argued that First of all, For example, Secondly, For instance, Thus, In conclusion,

Using Method It is often argued that it is more advantageous to choose a job with high wage, even if it does not appeal to you at all. I completely disagree with this opinion and think that job satisfaction is much more important than salary. First of all, I believe that job satisfaction gives people a sense of fulfillment that no money can guarantee. Even if someone is earning a high salary but feels tensed, this person would not enjoy his life. While pursuing one’s interests will always bring pleasure and feeling of satisfaction. For example, a lot of famous researchers made their career choices not because of appealing wages, but because they were passionate about science. That is why it is more important to choose the kind of work that makes you happy than to look only at a high salary. Secondly, doing what you like keeps you motivated and therefore leads to a career growth. In other words, there is a strong relation between job satisfaction and productivity. People who love their jobs can easily excel in their fields of work than those, who put salary on the first place. For instance, in my company many people are working for more than 25 years despite a good wage. Consequently, others moved out for high salary but struggling to achieve better results. Thus, advantages of jobs that keep you satisfied outweigh the drawback of low salary in a long-term perspective. In conclusion, I strongly believe that job satisfaction is more beneficial than high salary because it makes people happy and motivated.

So this is how it should be. Paraphrase the introduction – instead of more important you can mention as more advantageous. Don’t use abbreviations and colloquial language. Always expand the words and maintain academic English. Here I am disagreeing the statement of big salary, adding points for job satisfaction and the supporting points with examples using my own experience and then the conclusion part. Here I did not use much vocabularies but use atleast few words. So this is how we can use the method. And don’t forget to proofread your essay.

Allow one space between each paragraph. This is not mandatory but leaving one space will be good to show the completion of the paragraph. And you can use delete or backspace button anytime. That is not a problem. You can correct your content until you write error free essay. You can paste this sample in pte.tools to check how many lines we will get for 260 words in the real exam. 1 and 1/2 lines for introduction, 3 to 4 lines for body paragraphs and 1 line for conclusion and we got 260 words. This is how you can limit the number of words based on number of lines.

Sentences to increase the word count

Here are some sentences that I have gathered from some sample essays. This helps to bring you some ideas related to the topic using which you can build your own points. I always add two or more sentences from this list in my essays, which save my time while thinking about the ideas.

  • Helps the country’s economy to be stable.
  • The research is quite possibly biased on one side.
  • It is the government that needs to take measures to ameliorate such problems.
  • Admittedly, this may be cumbersome to administer, however, an attempt could be made to get it off the ground.
  • Attempts should be made to redress the imbalance.
  • It is often the case that people would rather not use.
  • I would argue there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that this is not the case, and, therefore, steps must be taken to improve it.
  • Which socio-economic group consumes more (either lower income people or wealthier people).
  • Governments offer large subsidies to farmers.
  • It is destroying traditional forms of communication such as letter writing, telephone and face-to-face conversation.
  • The children accessing unsuitable websites and viruses is inevitable.
  • An ocean of opportunities.
  • In conclusion, despite the fact that there are benefits.

Brush up these sentences before going to the exam and try to remember as much as possible.

That’s all I have for essays. Use the 20 minutes time wisely for understanding the topic and plan your ideas in the first 2 minutes, write the essay within 13 to 15 minutes, review and correct it in the last 3 minutes. Also, write only a maximum of 10 lines. Introduction – 2 lines, body paragraphs – 3 to 4 lines each and conclusion – 1 to 1 and 1/2 lines. Along with checking on the word count, you can count the lines and structure your essay in this way.

Paraphrase the topic in the introduction, highlight the supporting points and contradicting points in body paragraphs with some examples in your own experience and then conclude with some solution or on one side of the topic depends upon what type of topic that you get. Remember that anyone can write the essay within the given timeframe if they have the right tools. I hope with these information, writing an essay will be very easy for you. Thank you for reading my post till the end.

Moreover, if the prompt is asking you to give opinions for and against the topic then, mention both arguments. Furthermore, end the introduction paragraph with a connecting line that states that both views will be elaborated further.

Secondly, you have to keep your points either against or for the topic given. For instance, if you are asked to talk about capital punishment then you have to give either side of the argument. In general, each type of prompt has a different template to follow. However, it is normally based on a fixed essay skeleton including Introduction , Body paragraph , and Conclusion .  Below is the model outline you can consider:

Introduction (about 40-50 words)

In this part, you need to:

  • Start with a hook or a general statement related to the topic, remember to paraphrase the requirement.
  • Clearly state your thesis or main point.
  • Provide a brief overview of the points you will discuss.

Body paragraph (about 200 words)

This part often contains two single paragraphs. Each of them is about 100 words in length. The structure of the body can include:

  • Topic sentence: Begin each paragraph with a clear topic sentence that connects to your thesis.
  • Explanation (about 1-2 sentences): You need to give some reasons explicating your point. Don’t forget to use transition words to connect your ideas and maintain a smooth flow.
  • Supporting details (Optional): After explanation, it’s essential to provide evidence, examples, or statistics to support your topic sentence. With these details, your idea can be clarified better.
  • Counterargument (Optional): Last but not least, you can address opposing viewpoints and explain why they are less valid. This sentence would strengthen your statement, and make it more persuadable.

Conclusion (about 40-50 words)

At the end of all writing, a conclusion is unavoidable. This part asks you to:

  • Summarize your main points.
  • Restate your thesis or main point in another expression way.
  • Provide a closing thought or call to action related to the topic.

Above is the general format of the PTE essay. You also need to adapt this template to the specific essay type you’re writing.

For instance, an argumentative essay will require a stronger emphasis on presenting and refuting opposing views, while the agree and disagree article will focus more on expressing your viewpoint.

Notice that the given structure is for reference. You don’t need to follow it 100% when writing as long as you make sure that your ideas are supported well.

4 PTE writing examples for all essay types

4 PTE writing examples for all essay types

To truly grasp the power of templates, let’s explore some PTE writing examples for each essay type. These examples will showcase how the template can be customized to fit various essay prompts.

Argumentative Essay Sample

Prompt: “Should governments provide free healthcare for all citizens?”

Introduction

The important thing you need to do is to paraphrase the prompt and give out your opinion. For example:

Governments worldwide face the perennial question of whether they should let all citizens approach healthcare for free (paraphrase). In this essay, I will argue in favor of this policy, emphasizing that accessible healthcare is a fundamental right (state an opinion).

Body paragraph 1:

Topic Sentence: Free healthcare ensures equitable access to medical services.

Explanation: In countries where healthcare is free, citizens from all socioeconomic backgrounds receive necessary medical care.

Supporting details: This eliminates the disparity in healthcare access between the affluent and less privileged segments of society.

Body Paragraph 2:

Topic Sentence: Free healthcare reduces the financial burden on individuals.

Explanation: In nations with free healthcare, individuals do not face exorbitant medical bills, reducing financial stress. This improves overall well-being and economic stability for citizens.

Support details: According to statistics, 43 countries in the world have free healthcare for their citizens and most of them are developed countries.

Conclusion:

Restate your opinion: In conclusion, providing free healthcare to all citizens is not just a moral imperative but also a pragmatic solution to many societal issues. It ensures equitable access, relieves financial burdens, and promotes public health.

Provide a call to action: Governments should prioritize this fundamental right.

Agree and disagree essay

Prompt: “Do you agree or disagree with the statement: ‘Technology is making people less creative’?”

Paraphrase: The impact of technology on human creativity is a topic of considerable debate.

State your opinion: In this essay, I will argue that while technology has altered the creative landscape, it does not stifle creativity.

Topic sentence: Technology provides new avenues for the creative industry.

Explanation: Platforms like social media and digital art tools enable individuals to explore and showcase their creativity. Creators can connect to each other easily. Therefore, they can update, and learn from each other to improve themselves. Otherwise, the internet provides a wealth of information and inspiration at one’s fingertips.

Supporting details: For instance, websites like Freepik are provided to provide a wide range of materials for people to create their work.

Body paragraph 2:

Topic Sentence: Technology challenges individuals to adapt creatively.

Explanation: The rapid evolution of technology necessitates creative problem-solving and adaptation. This constant innovation not only fuels creativity in individuals and industries but also puts them under pressure. That they have to use this as a supporting tool, not let this replace them.

Supporting details: The appearance of chat GPT threatens the jobs of many people, especially content creators. However, it can not replace people. Instead, individuals use it to serve their work.

Conclusion: In conclusion, technology’s impact on creativity is multifaceted, and it can both enhance and challenge creative expression. Ultimately, creativity is not stifled by technology; it is redefined and enriched in the digital age.

Advantages and disadvantages essay

Prompt: “Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of online learning”

Paraphrase: The rise of online learning is a revelation of education, but it also raises pertinent questions regarding its advantages and disadvantages. In this essay, we will explore both sides of the online learning debate.

Body paragraph 1 (About advantages)

Topic sentence: Firstly, let’s look into some pros of online education.

Pros 1: Online learning offers flexibility and convenience. Learners can access courses from anywhere at their own pace. This flexibility accommodates diverse schedules and lifestyles. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, students still can access education via online learning platforms.

Pros 2:  Online learning reduces geographical barriers. It allows access to top-notch courses and instructors worldwide. This democratizes education and promotes inclusivity. For instance, people in Vietnam can easily take part in a workshop in the US on the Internet.

Body paragraph 2 (About disadvantages)

Topic sentence: Although it provides many advantages, online learning also has some side effects.

Cons 1: Online learning lacks the social interaction of traditional classrooms. Students miss out on face-to-face interactions and group dynamics. This can hinder the development of social skills and a sense of community.

Cons 2: Learning on the internet requires students to have suitable devices to connect. But not all students have that good life conditions. Poor people or those who live in remote areas would find it really difficult to access.

In conclusion, online learning presents a mixed bag of advantages and disadvantages. Its flexibility and accessibility are game-changers, but the absence of physical interaction and potential isolation are important considerations. A balanced approach to education must harness the best of both worlds.

Problems and solutions essay

Prompt: “Discuss the problem of air pollution in urban areas and propose solutions.”

Paraphrase: Air pollution in urban areas is a pressing issue with far-reaching consequences.

We will examine some causes and effects of this problem and propose effective solutions in this essay.

Body paragraph 1 (mention a cause and offer a solution for it) :

Cause: Urban air pollution is primarily caused by vehicle emissions. More and more cars are used nowadays, combined with the inadequate public transportation systems, elevating pollution in urban on the next level.

Solution: To solve this problem, it’s crucial to reduce vehicle emissions. Instead of driving cars, people can walk or use public transportation. In addition, the government implements strict emissions standards to control this problem.

Body paragraph 2:

Cause: In many areas of the world, millions of square kilometers of forest have been destroyed for human personal purposes. Forests are also considered as the green lungs of the earth. Lack of this natural shield, the air becomes more vulnerable.

Solution: People should protect and strive to cultivate more trees in the world. Moreover, the government also can intervene by enforcing strict regulations on deforestation.

In conclusion, urban air pollution is a multifaceted problem, but it is not insurmountable. As long as we take action to maintain and protect the air, cities can breathe easier and provide a healthier environment for their residents.

Practice frequently

There’s simply no substitute for practice. The more you immerse yourself in utilizing the templates, the more ingrained they will become in your memory.

You need to write and write every day to get familiar with and gradually become proficient in template writing. Dedicate time each day to practice writing essays using the templates, and you’ll notice a significant improvement in your recall during the exam.

Visual aids

PTE Academic Essay Writing Template

January 3, 2017 By Steven 20 Comments

The Essay section of the PTE Academic Exam is the most important task that contributes to your writing score . In this post, I’m going to share with your some quick tips on the Essay section that will improve your score and help save time as well.

I recently got a question from a test-taker on the Essay section. He stated,

I face difficulty in completing the Essay section in time. Is there a structure or format that I can use so that I can complete the Essay section in time?

Finishing your Essay in time is a critical aspect of the Essay task. You i deally want to spare 3-5 minutes from the 20 minutes allocated to proofread your Essay for any spelling or grammatical errors.

Writing a good Essay in limited time can be hard if you are not used to doing this. Let’s break down the various tasks you need to do to write an Essay. You need to:

  • Think about how you are going to structure your Essay based on the question.
  • Come up with Ideas regarding the topic question.
  • Organize these ideas and put them into meaningful sentences.
  • Organize these sentences into paragraphs

All of these tasks take time. Often more time is spent thinking about these 4 steps than actually writing the Essay. Having a predefined ‘template’ can be useful in saving time in this section as it cuts out some of these tasks. It decreases your mental load as you do not have to think too much about the structure of your Essay during the exam. You simply create a template and fill in the blanks with appropriate content from the question asked.

Want to know the best part?

I’ve created an Essay template to help with this. It’s a 4 paragraph Essay that comes with good vocabulary and can be used for most Essay’s asked in the exam. It has also been created to hit upon all the aspects of the PTE Scoring system. I’ve also included a sample completed Essay so you know what to aim for. All you need to do is fill in the blanks. You can get if free using this link. Check out the video below where I explain how to use it.

But here’s the deal:

Test-takers have been reporting some excellent results in the writing section of the PTE after using this template. I might end up charging for this soon, so grab the template for free using the link below if it’s still available.

Q : Do you have more Essay templates:

Ans: Yes, I have a more updated template that requires very minimum usage of content words. It aslo minimizes grammar mistakes. It is a paid template available here .

Q : How do I get my PTE results. It’s been more than 5 days. I haven’t received it yet?

Hi Ruwan, We recommend you hit “Enter” twice to start the new paragraph.

' src=

In exam if we get the 2 essays and what if we choose to use the same template for both the essay’s. How it will impact the scoring of writing section? Any thoughts or experiences that were shared with you in this regards?

Hi Ashish, We recommend not using the same essay template for two different questions in the exam. We have seen test takers score 50 to 90 with using the essay template. It all depends on your English skills. You need to practice more to improve.

' src=

My writing score on my previous exam was 75. I did not use any template. Will this template will help me to boost my score. I am aiming for 79 and up.

Hi Donald, Thanks for writing in. You need to practice more to get your desired score. You can use the templates as a guide since we have seen test takers taking help of the templates but have scored between 55 to 90.

Countries with high rates of university education report higher levels of technological development and productivity. Many people believe that university education should be free for all citizens. What are the advantages and drawbacks of free university education?

Countries with a higher percentage of their population having received a university education tend to have higher technological development and productivity levels. This correlation between education and economic success has led many people to believe that university education should be free for all citizens. While the idea of free university education has numerous advantages, it also has some drawbacks that must be considered. One of the main advantages of free university education is increased access to education for all. It eliminates the financial barrier that prevents many students from attending university and thus provides equal opportunities for everyone. This promotes social equity and boosts economic growth by creating a more skilled and educated workforce. Additionally, free university education may encourage students to pursue careers in fields that are essential to national development, such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. However, free university education also has some drawbacks. One of the most significant challenges is the cost of implementing such a system. Governments would have to bear the cost of educating many students, which would require substantial funding. This could result in higher taxes or reduced funding for other public services. Another challenge is the potential for reduced quality of education. With many students, universities may need more resources to provide high-quality instruction, leading to overcrowded classes, reduced access to help, and lower standards. In conclusion, while free university education has numerous advantages, potential drawbacks must be considered. Implementing such a system requires a significant amount of funding, and there is the potential for reduced quality of education. However, free university education can promote social equity and economic growth by providing access to education for all, making it a policy worth considering.

2. You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response will be judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details, and control the elements of standard written English. You should write 200-300 words.

Customer reviews provide potential clients with the information they want from sources they trust – namely, people who have previously purchased the product. Do you think that customer reviews can influence purchase decisions?   Give reasons for your answer and provide any specific examples from your own experience or knowledge.

In today’s digitally driven era, customer reviews play a significant role in shaping consumers’ purchasing decisions. The increasing trend of e-commerce has led customers to rely heavily on online reviews before purchasing. Reviews provide potential clients with trustworthy and relevant information from people who have already bought and used the product. It is not surprising to note that up to 90% of consumers read online reviews before buying. Customer reviews substantially impact purchase decisions since they provide social proof. Social proof is a psychological concept that describes how people often follow the actions of others in uncertain situations. In this case, when potential customers see positive product or service reviews, they are more inclined to purchase. Negative reviews, on the other hand, have the opposite effect. In addition to social proof, customer reviews provide detailed information about a product that may not be available elsewhere. The reviews can offer insight into a product’s quality, durability, and performance, which may not be evident in the product description. Consumers often seek such information to make an informed purchasing decision, especially when buying a product they have not used before. I have experienced the influence of customer reviews on my purchasing decisions. For instance, when searching for a new laptop, I spent hours reading online reviews to find one that matched my needs. Ultimately, I opted for a computer that had received predominantly positive reviews and have been happy with my purchase ever since. In conclusion, customer reviews hold a vital place in influencing purchase decisions. They offer social proof and valuable information, making it imperative for businesses to take customer reviews seriously and work towards ensuring that their products and services satisfy customer expectations.

3. You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response will be judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details, and control the elements of standard written English. You should write 200-300 words.

Vaccination is an important and efficient method of avoiding infectious diseases. Should parents be legally required to vaccinate children against common diseases or do they have the right not to vaccinate their children?

Vaccination is a vital tool in the prevention of infectious diseases. The benefits of vaccination are immense, as they help to protect individuals and communities from potentially life-threatening illnesses. Despite this, there is an ongoing debate over whether parents should be legally required to vaccinate their children against common diseases or if they have the right to choose not to vaccinate their children. In the case of vaccinations, individual choices can significantly affect public health. Vaccination protects the individual and contributes to herd immunity, which provides a safeguard for those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons. By choosing not to vaccinate their children, parents place their children at risk and endanger the wider community. Therefore, mandatory vaccination is necessary to prevent the spread of disease and protect public health. This is especially important in cases where the disease can be potentially fatal, such as measles or whooping cough. Legal requirements for vaccination can increase vaccination rates and ensure communities are better protected against infectious diseases. On the other hand, some parents may argue that mandatory vaccination violates their rights as parents to make decisions about their children’s health. While parents have the right to make decisions for their children, this right is not absolute and must be balanced against the public interest in protecting public health. In conclusion, while parents have the right to decide about their children’s health, mandatory vaccination can be necessary to protect public health and prevent the spread of infectious diseases. By ensuring that children are vaccinated against common diseases, we can collectively protect ourselves and our communities from the spread of preventable diseases.

Fewer people today visit libraries than in the past.   What can be done to encourage more people to visit libraries in the future?.

In recent years, there has been a decline in the number of people visiting libraries. This is mainly due to the increased availability of digital resources such as eBooks and online databases. While these resources offer a great deal of convenience, there are still many benefits to visiting a physical library. Several steps can be taken to encourage more people to visit libraries in the future. Firstly, libraries should focus on providing visitors with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. This can include updating the furniture, improving lighting and acoustics, and creating areas for group study and social interaction. Additionally, libraries can host events such as book clubs, author talks, and educational workshops to attract visitors and promote community engagement. Secondly, libraries can work to expand their collections to include a wider variety of materials, including popular fiction, non-fiction, and digital resources. They can also offer unique collections, such as rare books or local history archives, to attract more visitors. Finally, libraries should prioritize their outreach efforts to promote the many benefits of visiting a library. This can include targeted marketing campaigns, partnerships with local schools and community organizations, and increased visibility on social media and other online platforms. In conclusion, while the decline in library visitors is concerning, many steps can be taken to encourage more people to visit libraries in the future. By creating an inviting atmosphere, expanding collections, and prioritizing outreach efforts, libraries can continue to play an essential role in promoting literacy, education, and community engagement.

5. You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response will be judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details, and control the elements of standard written English. You should write 200-300 words.

Many people have a variety of hobbies when they are young, but then stop when they become adults. Why do so many adults stop engaging in creative and artistic pursuits?

Throughout childhood and adolescence, many individuals enjoy pursuing creative and artistic hobbies such as drawing, painting, writing, and playing musical instruments. However, as they grow into adulthood, these hobbies often fall by the wayside. There are several reasons why this is the case.

Firstly, adults may feel that they simply do not have the time or energy to devote to their hobbies. Between work, family obligations, and other responsibilities, they may feel that they cannot justify spending time on activities that are not directly related to their career or personal relationships.

Secondly, societal pressure to be productive and successful can also play a role in why adults abandon their hobbies. In a culture that places a high value on efficiency and productivity, individuals may feel guilty or selfish for taking time away from work or other obligations to pursue a hobby.

Finally, some adults may feel that their creative abilities have diminished over time, leading them to believe that their hobbies are no longer worth pursuing. This can be especially true for those who have not practiced their hobbies regularly or who have not had the opportunity to develop their skills further.

In conclusion, while there are several reasons why adults may stop engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, it is important to remember the value of these hobbies for personal fulfillment and mental wellbeing. Finding ways to incorporate hobbies into one’s busy adult life can be a worthwhile endeavor.

In this guide, we’ll give you the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in PTE Write Essay. But first, let’s find out what this task involves.

On PTE test day, you will get one or two essays to write in the PTE Writing section. You’ll receive a prompt that lets you know the topic of the essay you need to write. It will call for you to write an argumentative or persuasive essay. You may have to:

  • respond to a question
  • take one of two sides in an argument
  • agree or disagree with a point of view
  • write about advantages and disadvantages
  • discuss problems and solutions

The instructions for this task tell you that you will have 20 minutes to write between 200 and 300 words on the essay topic. You are scored on your:

  • development, structure and coherence
  • general linguistic range
  • grammar usage and mechanics
  • vocabulary range

There are a total of 15 possible marks for this task, and it contributes solely to your Writing score.

To help you have success with the PTE Write Essay task, we have put together this plan for you to follow.

Step 1: Understand the Prompt

First of all, make sure you read the prompt carefully to know what you have to write about. Pay attention to the topic, the ideas expressed and what exactly you are being asked to write.

Step 2: Follow the Template

  • Paragraph 1 – Introduction: Begin with some brief background about the topic. Then paraphrase the prompt. Finally, state what your argument is.
  • Paragraph 2 – Main body: Present your first main idea or argument that supports your stance. Be sure to back this up with additional information and an example. Then conclude the paragraph.
  • Paragraph 3 – Main body: Add your second main idea that supports your argument or discuss the other side of the argument. Again, support this with additional information and an example. Then conclude the paragraph.
  • Paragraph 4 – Conclusion: Summarize your two main points and end with a strong statement. Don’t bring up new ideas here.

Now let’s examine an example PTE Write Essay question.

Choose whether you agree or disagree with this statement and discuss why you chose that position. Support your point of view with details from your own experiences, observations or reading.

Analyze the Prompt

When you get a PTE Write Essay task, you should analyze the prompt. Let’s analyze this prompt together. These are the questions that you should ask and answer to focus clearly on the essay prompt and what you need to do.

> What is the topic of this essay? television news > What idea is expressed? that most television news is bad news, but some people think it should be a mix of good and bad > What do I have to do in the essay? EITHER agree OR disagree with the idea that television news should be good and bad, and support my point of view

Now that you know exactly what you need to do, it is time to start planning your essay by thinking of your stance and your main arguments.

Plan the Essay

Let’s say you agree with the idea. In this case, your plan could look like this:

TV should have both good & bad news
neg views impact our emotional well-being -> anxiety, despair -> uplifting stories kindle positive emotions, provide respite
good & bad = more accurate representation of our world-> recognize challenges as well as positive things-> only bad news distorts perception of reality

Based on these notes, you can now write your essay. Go ahead and do that now. Then compare your answer with the sample answer below.

Here’s a sample essay based on the notes above.

Television news often inundates us with stories of conflict, disaster, and upheaval. Wars, famines, accidents, and crimes dominate the airwaves, prompting a debate about whether television news should strike a balance between good and bad news. I believe that television news should encompass both good and bad news for the following compelling reasons.

First of all, an incessant stream of negative news can significantly impact our emotional well-being. Being constantly bombarded with reports on conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies can instil anxiety and despair among viewers. So it is vital to offset this with uplifting stories that offer hope and kindle positive emotions. Such stories, like successful rescue missions, scientific breakthroughs and people’s success stories, provide a much-needed respite from the constant deluge of grim news.

Additionally, presenting a mix of good and bad news offers a more accurate representation of our world. While it is essential to acknowledge the challenges and adversities in society, it is equally crucial to recognize the positive developments and acts of kindness that occur daily. Neglecting these uplifting stories distorts our perception of reality. For example, news reports about communities rallying during crises or individuals making significant contributions to society serve as powerful motivators for others to. These narratives inspire action and drive individuals to become actively engaged in efforts to improve their communities and the world at large.

In conclusion, the inclusion of both good and bad news in television broadcasts is essential for our emotional well-being, and for accurately representing our reality and motivating people to contribute positively to society. Striking this balance results in a more informed, hopeful, and empowered viewership, ultimately contributing to a better and more compassionate world.

In today’s competitive job market, having a professional and well-structured CV can be the difference between landing an interview and being overlooked. Writing a history essay requires a blend of critical thinking, research, and well-structured writing. In this blog post, we’ll walk through how to write a history essay, including an outline, tips for writing, and history essay examples to guide you.

The History Essay Format

Before you begin, it’s essential to understand the history essay format. History essays demand a balanced combination of fact-based evidence and argumentation. A well-structured history essay typically follows this format:

  • Introduction
  • Thesis Statement
  • Main Body (divided into paragraphs)
  • Bibliography

How to Write a History Essay: A Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s break down the process of writing a history essay, from brainstorming ideas to polishing your final draft.

Step 1: Choose a Topic and Formulate a Question

The first step in writing a history essay is choosing a topic or question. In most cases, your professor will provide a set of questions. However, if you are given the flexibility to choose your own topic, pick something that piques your interest and is relevant to your course.

Example : "To what extent did the Industrial Revolution impact British society in the 19th century?"

Step 2: Conduct Research

A history essay demands thorough research from reliable sources. Use academic books, journals, and reputable websites to gather data. When conducting research, always ensure you’re sourcing both primary and secondary materials. Take detailed notes and cite all your sources to avoid plagiarism.

Tip : Create a research folder or digital notebook to keep track of useful articles, quotes, and references.

Step 3: Create a History Essay Outline

Before jumping into writing, it’s essential to outline your essay. An outline helps you organise your thoughts, structure your argument, and ensure a logical flow throughout the essay. Here's a simple history essay outline example:

Introduction : Background information Significance of the topic Thesis statement

Main Body : Paragraph 1: First point (with evidence) Paragraph 2: Second point (with evidence) Paragraph 3: Counterargument (if applicable)

Conclusion : Restate the thesis Summarise the key points Offer final thoughts or implications

History Essay Introduction: Setting the Scene

The history essay introduction is crucial as it sets the tone for your argument. Your introduction should provide context to the historical event or period you’re discussing. It must be engaging and informative, but avoid overloading it with too many details. Most importantly, it should end with a clear thesis statement—the central argument of your essay.

Example of a history essay introduction:

The Industrial Revolution, a period of dramatic technological advancements, reshaped British society in the 19th century. As factories and industries grew, so did the challenges faced by urban populations. This essay will explore the extent to which the Industrial Revolution impacted British social structures, arguing that while it brought about significant economic growth, it also exacerbated social inequalities.

Writing a History Essay: The Main Body

The main body of your history essay should contain a series of well-structured paragraphs that provide evidence to support your thesis. Each paragraph should focus on a single idea or point and include:

  • Topic sentence : The main idea of the paragraph.
  • Evidence : Historical facts, quotes, and examples to back up your claim.
  • Analysis : Explain how this evidence supports your argument.
  • Link to the thesis : Always relate the paragraph back to your central thesis.

History Essay Conclusion: Wrapping It Up

The history essay conclusion is your final chance to summarise your arguments and reinforce your thesis. A strong conclusion doesn’t introduce new information but instead reaffirms what has already been discussed in the body of the essay. It should also provide some reflection on the broader significance of your findings.

Example of a history essay conclusion:

In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution was a transformative period in British history, driving significant economic development. However, the social ramifications, particularly for the working class, cannot be overlooked. While technological advancements brought wealth to certain sectors, they also deepened the divide between rich and poor, a legacy that continues to shape British society today.

History Essay Example: Final Draft

Let’s put all these elements together and look at a brief history essay example based on the outline above:

Essay Title: The Impact of the Industrial Revolution on British Society

Introduction : The Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 18th century, marked a significant turning point in British history. Technological innovations revolutionised manufacturing, transforming the economy and society at large. However, while industrialisation brought prosperity to some, it also resulted in severe social consequences. This essay will argue that the Industrial Revolution, while economically beneficial, greatly increased social inequality in 19th-century Britain.

Main Body : The rapid development of factories and industries was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution. Urbanisation surged as people moved to cities in search of work. According to historian Eric Hobsbawm, by 1850, nearly half of Britain's population lived in urban areas, marking a sharp contrast to the agrarian society of previous centuries. This shift resulted in overcrowded living conditions and poor working environments for many. Moreover, child labour became rampant during this period. Historian E.P. Thompson notes that children as young as five were employed in factories under deplorable conditions. This exploitation underscored the widening gap between the industrial elite and the working class. On the other hand, industrialisation led to the growth of a new middle class. Entrepreneurs and factory owners amassed great wealth, and new technologies improved the efficiency of production.
