The Thirty-Sixth Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS 2022) is an interdisciplinary conference that brings together researchers in machine learning, neuroscience, statistics, optimization, computer vision, natural language processing, life sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and other adjacent fields. We invite submissions presenting new and original research on topics including but not limited to the following:

General Machine Learning

Deep Learning (e.g., architectures, generative models, optimization for deep networks)

Reinforcement Learning (e.g., decision and control, planning, hierarchical RL, robotics)

Applications (e.g., speech processing, computer vision, NLP)

Machine Learning for Sciences (e.g. biology, physics, health sciences, social sciences)

Probabilistic Methods (e.g., variational inference, causal inference, Gaussian processes)

Optimization (e.g., convex and non-convex optimization)

Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (e.g., neural coding, brain-computer interfaces)

Theory (e.g., control theory, learning theory, algorithmic game theory)

Infrastructure (e.g., datasets, competitions, implementations, libraries)

Social Aspects of Machine Learning (e.g., AI safety, fairness, privacy, interpretability, human-AI interaction, ethics)

Machine learning is a rapidly evolving field, and so we welcome interdisciplinary submissions that do not fit neatly into existing categories.

Authors will be asked to confirm that their submissions accord with the NeurIPS code of conduct .

Formatting instructions:  All submissions must be in PDF format. Submissions are limited to nine content pages, including all figures and tables; additional pages containing the NeurIPS paper checklist and references are allowed.  The page limit was increased to ensure that authors have space to address the checklist questions. You must format your submission using the NeurIPS 2022 LaTeX style file which includes a “preprint” option for non-anonymous preprints posted online. The maximum file size for submissions is 50MB. Submissions that violate the NeurIPS style (e.g., by decreasing margins or font sizes) or page limits may be rejected without further review. If your submission is accepted, you will be allowed an additional content page for the camera-ready version. Papers may be rejected without consideration of their merits if they fail to meet the submission requirements, as described in this document.

Double-blind reviewing:  All submissions must be anonymized and may not contain any identifying information that may violate the double-blind reviewing policy.  This policy applies to any supplementary or linked material as well, including code.  If you are including links to any external material, it is your responsibility to guarantee anonymous browsing.  Please do not include acknowledgements at submission time.  If you need to cite one of your own papers, you should do so with adequate anonymization to preserve double-blind reviewing.  For instance, write “In the previous work of Smith et al. [1]…” rather than “In our previous work [1]...”). If you need to cite one of your own papers that is in submission to NeurIPS and not available as a non-anonymous preprint, then include a copy of the cited submission in the supplementary material and write “Anonymous et al. [1] concurrently show...”).

OpenReview: Same as last year, we are using OpenReview to manage submissions. The reviews and author responses will not be public initially. As in previous years, submissions under review will be visible only to their assigned program committee. We will not be soliciting comments from the general public during the reviewing process. Anyone who plans to submit a paper as an author or a co-author will need to create (or update) their OpenReview profile by the full paper submission deadline. The information entered in the profile is critical for ensuring that conflicts of interest are handled properly. Because of the rapid growth of NeurIPS, we request that all authors help with reviewing papers, if asked to do so.  We need everyone’s help in maintaining the high scientific quality of NeurIPS.

Abstract Submission: There is a mandatory abstract submission deadline on May 16, 2022 01:00 PM PDT, three days before full paper submissions are due. While it will be possible to edit the title and abstract until the full paper submission deadline, submissions with “placeholder” abstracts that are rewritten for the full submission risk being removed without consideration. This includes titles and abstracts that either provide little or no semantic information (e.g., "We provide a new semi-supervised learning method.") or describe a substantively different claimed contribution.  Changes may be made to the author list until the full paper deadline. After that, authors may be reordered, but any additions or removals must be justified in writing and approved on a case-by-case basis by the program chairs.

Supplementary material:  Authors may submit up to 100MB of supplementary material, such as appendices, proofs, derivations, data, or source code; all supplementary materials must be in PDF or ZIP format. Supplementary material should be material created by the authors that directly supports the submission content. Like submissions, supplementary material must be anonymized. Looking at supplementary material is at the discretion of the reviewers.

We encourage authors to upload their code and data as part of their supplementary material in order to help reviewers assess the quality of the work. Check the policy as well as code submission guidelines and templates for further details.

Ethics review:  Reviewers and ACs may flag submissions for ethics review . Flagged submissions will be sent to an ethics review committee for comments. Comments from ethics reviewers will be considered by the primary reviewers and AC as part of their deliberation. They will also be visible to authors, who will have an opportunity to respond.  Ethics reviewers do not have the authority to reject papers, but in extreme cases papers may be rejected by the program chairs on ethical grounds, regardless of scientific quality or contribution.

Paper checklist: In order to improve the rigor and transparency of research submitted to and published at NeurIPS, authors are required to complete a paper checklist , which is included in the .tex template. The paper checklist is intended to help authors reflect on a wide variety of issues relating to responsible machine learning research, including reproducibility, transparency, research ethics, and societal impact. The checklist must appear in the submitted PDF, immediately after references, but does not count towards the page limit.

Preprints:  The existence of non-anonymous preprints (on arXiv or other online repositories, personal websites, social media) will not result in rejection. If you choose to use the NeurIPS style for the preprint version, you must use the “preprint” option rather than the “final” option. Reviewers will be instructed not to actively look for such preprints, but encountering them will not constitute a conflict of interest. Authors may submit anonymized work to NeurIPS that is already available as a preprint (e.g., on arXiv) without citing it.

Dual submissions:  Submissions that are substantially similar to papers that have been previously published, accepted for publication, or submitted in parallel to other peer-reviewed venues with proceedings may not be submitted to NeurIPS.  (Work that has appeared in non-archival workshops, such as workshops at NeurIPS/ICML, may be submitted.)  NeurIPS coordinates with other conferences to identify dual submissions.  The NeurIPS policy on dual submissions applies for the entire duration of the reviewing process.  Slicing contributions too thinly is discouraged.  The reviewing process will treat any other submission by an overlapping set of authors as prior work.  If publishing one would render the other too incremental, both may be rejected.

Author responses:  Authors will have one week to view and respond to initial reviews. Author responses may not contain any identifying information that may violate the double-blind reviewing policy. After the initial response period, authors will be able to respond to any further reviewer/AC questions and comments by posting on the submission’s forum page.  The program chairs reserve the right to solicit additional reviews after the initial author response period.  These reviews will become visible to the authors as they are added to OpenReview, and authors will have a chance to respond to them.

After the notification deadline, accepted and opted-in rejected papers will be made public and open for non-anonymous public commenting. Their anonymous reviews, meta-reviews, and author responses will also be made public. Authors of rejected papers will have two weeks after the notification deadline to opt in to make their deanonymized rejected papers public in OpenReview.  These papers are not counted as NeurIPS publications and will be shown as rejected in OpenReview.

After the initial author response, we will allow for a rolling discussion with the authors.  This discussion will be made public later for papers that become public.

Authors may submit revisions of their paper during the discussion period, but the reviewers and ACs are not required to read them.

Publication of accepted submissions:  Reviews, meta-reviews, and any discussion with the authors will be made public for accepted papers (but reviewer, area chair, and senior area chair identities will remain anonymous). Camera-ready papers will be due in advance of the conference. All camera-ready papers must include a funding disclosure . We strongly encourage accompanying code and data to be submitted with accepted papers when appropriate, as per the code submission policy . Authors will be allowed to make minor changes for a short period of time after the conference.

Other Tracks: Similarly to earlier years, NeurIPS 2022 will host multiple tracks, such as datasets and benchmarks, tutorials as well as workshops, in addition to the main track for which this call for papers is intended. See the conference homepage for updates and calls for participation in these tracks.

Experiments: As in past years, the program chairs will be measuring the quality and effectiveness of the review process via randomized controlled experiments. All experiments are independently reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).

2022 Fall Research Conference Single Paper Listing

Advancing policy research with cross-disciplinary perspectives, november 17- 19, 2022  | washington hilton |  washington d.c..

As you are creating your submissions, we encourage you to check the Single Paper Listings below for papers that might work well with your proposal in order to submit a complete panel. While we still encourage individual paper submissions, complete panels - three or four papers along a common theme with a chair and discussant - have a much better chance of being accepted for the conference. If there is a paper in the listing in which you are interested, please contact the authors and see if they wish to have their work become part of your panel. All contact information is noted in the listing.

We hope this will encourage APPAM members and the public policy community at large to broaden their research networks and become familiar with their peers who are doing important work around the world.

Found papers you want to connect with? Reach out to the paper contact listed on the spreadsheet to confirm their interest. Once confirmed, all original paper submissions must be withdrawn from APPAM’s abstract management system so your new panel can be created from scratch.

  • To submit a whole panel, you will need a panel title, a 100 - 500 word session abstract, one organizer, one chair, one to two discussants, and three to four panel papers.
  • Then the individual panel papers will need a title, presenting author, contact person, and 100 - 500 word paper abstract.

The listings will be updated weekly until the submission deadline of April 18 , 2022 .  Any policy area that does not have an active hyperlink has not yet received any submissions.

There will be no extensions to the submission deadline.

Please contact [email protected]  with any questions.

All Single Paper Listings have been updated as of 11:00 ET on 4/18/2022.

Process Mining Conference 2022

Process Mining Conference 2022

4th International Conference on Process Mining, October 23-28, 2022

Research Papers

Call for research papers.

The International Conference on Process Mining (ICPM) is the premium forum for researchers, practitioners and developers in process mining. The objective is to explore and exchange knowledge in this field through scientific talks, industry discussions, contests, technical tutorials and panels. The conference covers all aspects of process mining research and practice, including theory, algorithmic challenges, applications and connections with other fields.

The conference is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and supported by the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining. (TBC)

Process mining is an innovative research field that focuses on extracting business process insights from transactional data commonly recorded by IT systems, with the ultimate goal of analyzing and improving organizational productivity along performance dimensions such as efficiency, quality, compliance, and risk. By relying on data rather than perceptions gained from interviews and workshops, process mining shifts the way of thinking from “confidence-based” to “evidence-based” business process management. Thus, process mining distinguishes itself within the information systems domain by its fundamental focus on understanding, analyzing, and improving business processes based on process data.

Current process mining challenges include scalability, i.e., dealing with volume, velocity, veracity and variability of input data, especially in real-time/online settings using event streams; approximation, i.e., balancing computation time with accuracy; understandability and explainability, i.e., providing easy-to-understand and explainable analytics; multi-perspective analysis, i.e., considering data, resources and time beyond the process control flow; measurability, e.g., providing a comprehensive framework for measuring differences between observed and modelled process behavior, and ethical and confidential aspects of process mining, i.e., how to ensure that process mining procedures and results do not violate ethical and privacy principles.

Topics for Research Papers

ICPM 2022 encourages papers on new methodologies, techniques and applications for process mining, as well as case studies coming from industrial scenarios. Also, papers describing novel tools, fundamental research and empirical studies on process mining are expected. For the sake of replicability of the presented studies, the addition of supplementary resources is strongly encouraged, such as used datasets, publicly accessible implementations of new techniques, and experimental packages for empirical studies. The use of novel, previously unpublished datasets is most welcome. Research on existing datasets must clearly showcase the novelty or unprecedented results of the applied analysis.

Selected, accepted research papers will be considered for publication in an extended and revised form in a special issue of Information Systems, edited by Elsevier.

The thematic areas in which contributions are sought include, but are not limited to, those listed below.

About the Congress

What? The Congress provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of research into the quality and credibility of editorial and funding peer review, scientific and scholarly publication, research and reporting practices, identification and management of biases, transparency, reproducibility, access, publication and dissemination metrics, identification and management of threats to the integrity of science, and advances in information exchange.

We invite abstracts summarizing original, high-quality research on any aspect of peer review and publication and the conduct, reporting, assessment, and dissemination of scientific research. A broad range of study designs will be considered, with preference given to well-developed studies with more generalizable results (eg, prospective, multiyear trials and controlled studies from collaborative researchers, journals, publishers, funders, and information disseminators). Retrospective studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, bibliometric and other data analyses, surveys, modeling studies, and other types of studies will also be considered. Abstracts that report new research and findings will be given priority and we also encourage studies that build on previous related research.

See the 9th Program for previously presented research.

Who? Participants include editors and publishers of scientific peer-reviewed journals, researchers, funders, bibliometric and informatics experts, information innovators, librarians, journalists, policymakers, ethicists, scientific information disseminators, and anyone interested in the progress of the scientific information enterprise and the quality of scientific evidence.

The Congress embraces a wide range of disciplines, including biomedicine, health and life sciences, applied sciences, basic sciences, physical and chemical sciences, mathematics, computer sciences, engineering, economics, and social sciences as well as new and emerging disciplines.

GLOBAL HEALTH 2022 - The Eleventh International Conference on Global Health Challenges

November 13, 2022 - November 17, 2022

Recent advances in technology and computational science influenced a large spectrum of branches in approaching population health. Despite significant progresses, many challenges exist, including health informatics, cross-country platforms interoperability, system and laws harmonization, protection of health data, practical solutions, accessibility to health services, and many others. Along with technological progress, personalized medicine, ambient assistance and pervasive health complement patient needs. A combination of classical and information-driven approach is developing now, where diagnosis systems, data protection mechanisms, remote assistance and hospital-processes are converging.

GLOBAL HEALTH 2022 takes a global perspective on population health, from national to cross-country approaches, multiplatform technologies, from drug design to medicine accessibility, everything under mobile, ubiquitous, and personalized characteristics of new age population.

We solicit both academic, research, and industrial contributions. We welcome technical papers presenting research and practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of the above topics short papers on work in progress, and panel proposals.

Industrial presentations are not subject to the format and content constraints of regular submissions. We expect short and long presentations that express industrial position and status.

Tutorials on specific related topics and panels on challenging areas are encouraged.

The topics suggested by the conference can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, research, standards, implementations, running experiments, applications, and industrial case studies. Call for Papers (Research Papers)

The annual Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL) is the primary international event for the inter- and multi-disciplinary community of academics and practitioners in digital libraries coming from computer, information and social sciences, and other related disciplines. JCDL encompasses the many meanings of the term digital libraries, including notions of managing, operating, developing, curating, evaluating, or utilizing collections of data/information/knowledge in various domains.

The deadline for submitting Research papers has expired !

The deadline for submitting Late-breaking results, Preliminary work, Datasets, and Demonstrations is March 14, 2022. See the  call for late breaking and demo papers for more details.

JCDL 2022 – Bridging Worlds

In this global pandemic that put many of us into lockdown, quarantine, and separation for a long time, we will do our best to bring together communities and people again. As digital libraries are traditionally strong in connecting the digital and the physical world, we will pick up this heritage and establish a hybrid format that is as open as possible to everyone.

Topics of interest, as they relate to digital libraries, include, but are not limited to:

Research Papers: Variable Page Length

JCDL 2022 will implement a variable paper length policy for research papers. There is no longer a distinction between long and short papers, nor a need of condensing or enlarging medium-length submissions.

The maximum paper length is 10 pages in content plus unrestricted space for references . The minimum paper length is 4 pages in content plus unrestricted space for references . Any page length in between is allowed.

Paper length should be commensurate with contribution size and authors should submit a paper whose length reflects what is needed for the content of the work. The reviewers will assess whether the contribution is appropriate for the given length. Longer papers may be given more presentation time during the conference. We hope this new streamlined process will preserve the variety of paper lengths and foster the exchange of ideas without creating an artificial distinction among them. Reviewers will be explicitly advised to judge the quality of a paper and not its length.

Submission Guidelines

All submissions must be original works, not previously published or under review for publication elsewhere, in English, in PDF format, and in the current ACM two-column conference format. Suitable LaTeX, Word, and Overleaf templates are available from the ACM Website (use “sigconf” proceedings template for LaTeX and the Interim Template for Word, https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template ).

All submissions will be rigorously peer-reviewed in a double-blind reviewing process.

Submissions must be anonymous and all references to authors’ works have to be anonymised.

Submissions are to be made via Easychair:

All accepted papers will be included in the proceedings and will be presented at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register for, and present the work at the conference at sight in Cologne. In case of travelling restrictions, authors will be enabled to present the work remotely.

Selected best papers will be invited for a special issue to be published with the International Journal on Digital Libraries (IJDL), Springer.

Dual Submission Policy

Papers submitted to JCDL 2022 should be substantially different from papers that have been previously published, or accepted for publication, or that are under review at other venues. Exceptions to this rule are:

  • Submission is permitted for papers presented or to be presented at conferences or workshops without proceedings.
  • Submission is permitted for papers that have previously been made available as a technical report (e.g., in institutional archives or preprint archives like arXiv). However, we discourage this since it places anonymity at risk; in particular, please do not publish your paper at arXiv and submit to JCDL at the same time, some days before, or during the reviewing period of JCDL.

If your paper already is available as a technical report:

  • You might not want to use the exact same title and abstract for your JCDL submission (in case of acceptance at JCDL, the title of your submission still might be changed “back”).
  • Please do not cite your technical report and make some effort to avoid any issues that may harm the double-blindness of your submission. Reviewers will receive guidance that ask them to refrain from trying to break blindness if at all possible too, but be aware that the availability of an available technical report for an JCDL submission can cause issues.

Submission Deadlines

All dates are Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time zone

  • 10 January 2022   23 January (extended) – Research paper submissions
  • 14 March 2022 – Notification of acceptance for research papers

Call for Papers - 7th Green Finance Research Advances

The Green Finance Research Advances is an International Research Conference for academics and professionals, co-organized by  Banque de France  and the Institut Louis Bachelier , with the participation of Finance for Tomorrow and the Institute for Climate Economics-I4CE.

We invite academics, regulators and professionals to submit research papers for the 7th edition of the conference, which will take place in Paris and online on December 14-15, 2022 .

The objective of the conference is to bring together academics, finance practitioners and regulators, to discuss together research issues related to the integration of climate risks (more generally environmental issues) into macro-economic modelling/forecasting and into the risk assessment of the financial sector.

While climate risks have much longer time horizons than traditional financial risks and cannot be dealt with without a clear understanding of long-term phenomena governing the joint evolution of climate and the economy, the short and medium-term aspects of energy transition are crucial for an orderly transition and are perhaps less well studied in the economic literature. This upcoming 7th Green Finance Research Advances therefore aims to highlight the short and medium-term climate risks and obstacles to energy transition and the role of central banks in addressing them.

Consult the call for papers   open for this edition.

For conference organizers:  The use of the conference manuscript templates provided by  IEEE eXpress Conference Publishing  will greatly reduce the chance for errors in the metadata visible in IEEE Xplore ® , and IEEE's downstream Indexing partners. Errors may result in delays in posting or in making any approved corrections, or in some cases, may simply persist. Using the templates is one of the ways to reduce errors.

If you wish, you may link to this webpage in its entirety. It is not recommended that you link to individual files, however, because they may be updated or replaced without notice.

2. Grateful acknowledgement is made to the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, which provided the current LaTeX template.

3. Other templates that more closely align with the IEEE Transactions article format are available.

Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.

Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.

Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

Towards an all-ireland diamond open access publishing platform: the publishoa.ie project—2022–2024.

research paper conference 2022

  • Articles will be open access on publication, accessible free of charge to anybody;
  • Application of a clearly described peer review process;
  • Author copyright retention;
  • Application of creative commons licenses (CC BY 4.0 or similar);
  • No Article Processing Charges for authors;
  • Support for registration with the DOAJ/DOAB;
  • Plan S compliance;
  • Book publishing requirements compliance, including e-book formats, ONIX integration, author and reader engagement tools, social sharing, and tools to increase the visibility, accessibility, and impact of authors’ work;
  • Compliance with the ‘Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure’;
  • Impact metrics and archiving—Directory of Open Access Books. Available online: https://doaj.org ; https:// www.doabooks.org/ ; https://openscholarlyinfrastructure.org/ (accessed on 16 March 2024).
  • Scholarly publishers have articulated differing requirements for book and journal publishing. PublishOA.ie will, therefore, likely recommend and pilot two platforms (one for books, one for journals) to meet the objectives of the project. This was not anticipated at the outset of the project.
  • Publisher engagement: publishers in Ireland are time- and resource-poor, especially in terms of staffing. Book publishers issue a mix of publications, and adoption of open access publishing is only one element of their activity.
  • Future proofing has been identified as an issue of concern, encompassing the sustainability of the ongoing funding of both the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) and individual institutional repositories, and ‘reference rot’ (broken links), where the article or webpage resource identified by a URL no longer exists or has moved to another site. Reference rot also refers to the case whereby the resource identified has changed over time and evolved into a resource that bears no resemblance to the content originally referenced [ 13 ].
  • The all-island mandate for a shared programme will require funding from the separate Governments of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Since the UK’s departure from the EU, so-called Brexit, the UK is no longer bound by EU law and directives (since this paper was delivered, the UK rejoined the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme in December 2023) [ 14 ].
  • Bibliodiversity: support for smaller publishers will likely be required; the technical challenges of Diamond OA publishing may cause small publishers to outsource or divest themselves of publications to companies dedicated to this kind of publishing.
  • Academic author buy-in: PublishOA.ie has identified that there are significant gaps in both knowledge and interest in open access publishing that may be mitigated by further and ongoing education and information.
