International hotel management personal statement example.

The hotel industry is a vibrant and complex sector in need of well-trained employees. It is my goal to become one of them. My interest in tourism began when I was 13 years old – I was asked what my dream job would be, something I had not thought about until that moment. The first thing that came to my mind was “I want to work in a hotel”.

When later on I was asked why I studied tourism management, I would always reply that it seemed like the perfect mixture of business and languages (two of my main interests). After my first work experience in a hotel I finally knew what I liked so much about tourism: making people smile.

During my bachelor’s programme in Tourism Management in Vienna, I have further specialised in Hotel Management. This focus helped me to understand the main processes not only in theory but also in practice, as our coursework has been supplemented by various fieldtrips to some of Vienna’s upscale hotels as well as smaller family run businesses. Furthermore, during my studies in Vienna three of my colleagues and I had the chance to organise a weekend-trip for 20 of our classmates. This experience improved my ability to work in a team as well as my leadership and project management skills. As my team members voted for me to be the project leader I was responsible for distributing the different tasks, managing the budget and presenting our results.

Aside from my studies I worked in a small family run hotel for two months in the summer of 2015 and I am currently doing a 6-month internship in Nice, France. During my time at this small hotel I have learned to be autonomous and showed great commitment and readiness for action. As a sign of the trust I have received from my employer, I was given complete charge of the hotel for several hours after just three weeks in the position. The combination of new responsibilities and cultural engagement has made the internship in Nice challenging and inspiring at the same time. Using French in professional contexts with my colleagues and guests can sometimes cause misunderstandings, but despite the occasional language difficulties I learn very fast and have clearly become part of the team. As the team consist mainly of interns it is my duty to train the newcomers and pass on my knowledge. The organisation and all the “back-stage” processes of a hotel fascinate me and I love my work – I enjoy serving breakfast as well as dealing with reservations and handling the check in and check out as well as customer complaints.

Being the eldest of seven children with an age difference of 20 years between my youngest sister and me taught me to deal with change as well as to take responsibility. I want to be someone my younger siblings can look up to and feel inspired by. I want to make them proud and show them that it is possible to make one’s dreams come true, if you believe in yourself, work hard and are relentless in your pursuit.

The reason why I chose to do my postgraduate degree at the University of Surrey is that I believe that the programme “International Hotel Management” will enable me to work in international hotel companies like Hilton, Accor or Mandarin Oriental to name only a few. The institute’s good reputation and its numerous professional contacts within the industry will clearly facilitate my career. Further, doing a postgraduate degree is the logical consequence of my prior studies. During my undergraduate degree in “Tourism Management”, my specialisation in “Hotel Management” has inspired and interested me the most and therefore I am striving to deepen my knowledge in this area.

I have chosen to study at the University of Surrey as I want to leave Austria for my postgraduate degree. Leaving my friends and family as well as the culture I am used to will help me broaden my horizon and contribute to my personal development, as my current internship in Nice has shown me. When I picture myself in ten years, I do not know where exactly I am going to be, but I know that I want to be in a management position, working in an international hotel company with a team from all over the world. Therefore, I want to prepare myself for my future career by gaining as much international experience as possible.

Most of the time I am probably too cautious – too afraid I might fail, if I try something new – but it is time to leave my comfort zone. I fell in love with the University of Surrey and its international, inspiring student body the first time I saw it on the internet. I immediately knew that this is the place to be. This is the place where I can live my passion for hospitality and tourism management. This is the place where I can grow not only professionally but also as a person.

If managers just hand out tasks that need to be done, employees feel trusted and like they are doing their jobs properly. Management is all about making sure your team is happy and working at their best capacity. Problem solving is a big part of being a manager, especially at a hotel. There are many things that can arise and cause people to be unhappy, fed up, or just plain angry. If you do not know how to solve these problems in a manner that will both appease the client, and help your business, you can receive some nasty feedback, and perhaps lose a lot of business in the process. Making sure that you have a plan for solving any problem that arises is a good start in being prepared for those problems. Christopher Manning of Cape Cod has been in hotel management for many years. Weirdly enough, part of the immersion we want from a film is to make us not notice we are seeing a film. We like getting into its fictional world and looking through the characters’ eyes in a way that feels natural, even in the wildest and craziest stories. When we talk about great films, we get into abstract territory: technical, original, controversial, or just fun. Entertainment is key, and while a lot of times comedies lack deep characters and are filled with generic storylines and clichés, writer/director Wes Anderson comes to prove us all wrong. He presents his story in a way that it lets you know you are watching a work of fiction, more in the fashion of a moving painting than traditional film some might say.

Becoming an important part of the company comes with a lot of responsibility. That being said, I am ready to take a management position and become an effective manager to help the company succeed.

Essay Analysis

The example has the basic structure of an essay: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. However, did the writer include the critical aspects of the subject and talked about it in the essay? Here are the few errors that the author should take note of:

An effective essay should have a clear central idea. For this essay, it’s answering the question: “Why do you want to be a manager?”

However, a big chunk of the essay focused on explaining why "leadership" is vital for an organization and why a manager needs to be a leader, not answering their "Why" of wanting to be a manager.

To effectively answer questions through an essay, you can add a personal experience or statistics. To illustrate, the example essay can include:

My mother was a manager of her company for many years before retiring. She was a hard-working, punctual, and respected member of her company. Every time she took me to her workplace, everyone showed how they admired her leadership and skills. I want to be just like her - she not only helped the company be successful but also played an important part in her co-workers ' growth.

The essay only relied on one focal characteristic of a manager - leadership. Paragraphs in an excellent essay have topic sentences that are then supported by the subsequent sentences to expand the idea of the essay.

The author could have included more types, roles, and characteristics of a manager. For instance, the essay above can include the following characteristics:

  • Sincere enthusiasm. If the leaders are sincerely enthusiastic and passionate, they’ll help their co-workers create a productive environment in the workplace.
  • Great communication skills . Leaders must be excellent in motivating, delegating, and instructing the employees they are in charge of. Poor communication will lead to poor outputs. Leaders who lack this skill will be perceived as being weak and fail as a leader.
  • Loyalty. A great leader understands that loyalty is reciprocal. They must express loyalty in ways that benefit the team members.
  • Decisiveness. Good leaders must have the ability to take risks and be decisive in their decision-making. They should be empowered to make decisions and take risks knowing that they will hold themselves accountable if it goes the wrong way. Leaders who aren't decisive are usually ineffective.

Although it might look like the essay has a beginning, middle, and end, it doesn't mean that it has appropriately constructed content. When writing an essay or anything that requires you to keep the readers' attention, always try to be in your audience's shoes.

While reading your output, ask yourself questions that you'll typically ask if you had been the reader and not the writer. These questions can be:

  • Did I understand this part after reading it once?
  • What can I do to make this section easier for my readers to comprehend?
  • Did the subsequent sentences in the paragraph support the topic sentence?
  • Did my paragraphs connect to each other smoothly?
  • Were my readers encouraged to read everything in my essay?

Everyone can improve their writing. Using the sample above, here are the following tips you can take note of so you don’t commit the same mistakes the author did:

Plan and Outline

Unclear sections and disorganization can easily be avoided when you take some time to sit down and write all your thoughts into paper first. Think of the following and write an outline before writing:

  • What do you want to be included in your essay?
  • What are the main points you want the readers to focus on?
  • What’s the goal of your essay?

Outlines will make writing easier because you will know where you're going. It will give you an idea of which topic you need to write about next, knowing what point you're building toward, and how you can get to your conclusion.

Dividing your writing into smaller sections will help you be more organized. Outlining also:

  • Saves you time
  • Assist you in selecting critical contents and sections
  • Helps you write cleanly, accurately, and directly to the point

There are two types of outline :

  • Keyword Outline displays a quick overview of the ideas you'd like to include in the essay in the form of two to three words.
  • Sentence Outline , on the other hand, is more detailed. It provides the general information of the topics using sentences.

Include Relevant Parts

For the topic "Why I want to be a manager," you can incorporate the following parts:

  • What inspired you to want to be a manager
  • What characteristics you need to be a manager
  • What you're doing or did to become a manager

Following are some good research papers you can refer to and cite for your paper:

  • 8 Essential Qualities That Define Great Leadership
  • 10 Characteristics of an Effective Manager
  • The Role and Responsibilities of a Manager
  • 25 Leadership Skills You Need To Learn Fast
  • The Seven Types of Managers: Which One Are You?

To summarize, once you finished writing your essay, check if:

  • The subject or question has been answered
  • It has been divided into sections for easier reading
  • You used proper grammar, and you didn't unintentionally plagiarize any parts

Pursuing a dream career in hospitality management

Hospitality management students who dream of becoming hoteliers and business owners someday may identify with the struggles of then 20-year-old Steve Gupta who left India in 1973 and moved to Canada with $108 in his pocket and a dream – to become a hotelier. Despite not having a social network or influential connections, this highly-educated young immigrant went on to become known today as real estate mogul Steve Gupta – CEO of Easton’s Group of Hotels – building and operating 28 hotels under Residence Inn by Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Choice Hotels and Starwood and a string of other multi-use real estate projects in Ontario and Quebec.

Opportunities in the hospitality sector

Unlike Gupta who started out as an insurance salesman knocking on doors – and sometimes having them slammed in his face – before his first break in owning and transforming a service station came, international students who are enrolled in a Hospitality Management course have a first-hand knowledge of the educational system and internship opportunities in the industry. This advantage will give them a headstart and prepare them for the global job market. Students are able to put their learning into practice straightaway and gain the local experience to work in a manager’s capacity or be an entrepreneur and own their own café or kiosk.

Hospitality management graduates are highly employable, especially for those who have completed a 4-year bachelor’s degree . Students can do this by directly enrolling at Acsenda School of Management .   Or they may start their course at  Arbutus College with options for 6-month to 32-month study . Both colleges offer internships as part of the curriculum.

Direct job options for hospitality management graduates include the following job roles:

Accommodation Manager

Catering manager, event manager, fastfood restaurant manager, café manager, hotel manager, public house manager, restaurant manager.

Hospitality management graduates have transferable skills that may also be suitable for the following positions:

Customer Service Manager

Human resources officer, retail manager, tour manager, promotions manager, communications manager, public relations manager, 739 million travel and tourism jobs in 2017.

Statista, a statistics portal in Canada, released its latest study in March this year that travel and tourism directly contributed 739 million jobs to the Canadian economy in 2017. There are no signs of this abating, especially for a country that’s considered one of the most stunningly beautiful and livable places in the world. Hospitality management graduates are in the forefront of this exciting opportunity.

Making the most of work-study privileges

International students need to gain local experience to be employable. Getting part-time work of at least 20 hours per week in the hospitality industry is the first step to achieving this. This way, they would be able to put academic learning into practice straightaway. They’re also able to get to know their bosses and colleagues, which is a great opportunity to make a strong impression of their work ethic. They can further build their network of industry contacts for future employment after graduation. Their internship is the next step. They can identify their prospective employers and job roles once their program is completed. If their dream job is to work for a luxury hotel, they should already scout for an employer in the same category. They also get a foretaste of the industry and their dream role by observing their more experienced colleagues in the same role. Better yet, they can establish rapport with their colleague for a chance to be mentored on the desirable qualities for new hires. For as long as students keep their mind open to possibilities and remain focused on the industry that they would like to land in once they graduate, they will thrive and pretty soon land their dream job.

100 Words Essay On My Dream Job

My dream job is to become a police officer. Since I was a little child, my uncle, a police officer, has encouraged me to protect the streets near our house. I believe that certain traits are essential for all officers to possess. Police officers must be conscientious, dependable, and able to assume leadership roles. Being a successful officer would not be feasible without these qualities.

My Dream Job Essay

I have already taken and passed the required written tests to become a police officer. Additionally, I underwent physical examinations, which evaluated my stamina, vision, hearing, and agility. High school ROTC participation has aided my development of extra practice and discipline. After completing high school, I spent four to five months at a police academy honing my skills by performing criminal investigations and learning about my rights and local, state, and federal laws.

200 Words Essay On My Dream Job

My dream is to become a teacher. I've always wanted my life to make a difference. I cherish sharing my knowledge and instructing young people. Finally, I came to the realisation that it is my passion. Some people aspire to work as college professors or university instructors, but I would like to teach at a public school. I intend to devote the remainder of my life to teaching young children and students and I'm making a lot of effort to make my dream come true.

Reason I Chose Teaching

I picked teaching as my dream career for a variety of reasons. I enjoy teaching, which is why I started it first. I know that working as a teacher will allow me to lead a very dedicated life where I will be able to make a genuine difference in people’s lives. Another important factor is that I want to bring a change in our educational system. I wish to improve several problems in our educational system.

Although it won't be simple, that is what I want to achieve in life. To ensure that school is enjoyable for kids rather than a chore, I want to modify the existing system of teaching.

500 Words Essay On My Dream Job

A career that combines activity, talent or passion with a chance to make money is referred to as a dream job. A dream job could be in the performing arts, law, medicine, acting, or any other vocation. Having a dream job offers us the drive to take actions that will help us realise our goals.

A dream can inspire you to pursue your goals, as lacking motivation is akin to lacking the desire or inspiration to do so. Setting the correct path is the first step toward achieving your goals. If the appropriate objectives are defined, one can undoubtedly realise their ambition.

Setting a goal is similar to making a strategy for each step and taking it one at a time. The key to achieving success in life is to have a clear goal in mind. Even though sometimes, not all of your dreams may come true, you should continue to have plans and keep working on achieving them.

My Dream Job : Doctor

My childhood dream has always been to become a doctor. I know the suffering of those who live in poverty and sometimes pass away due to lack of access to expensive medical care. There is no more extraordinary service than providing healthcare to the sick and poor people who suffer greatly in the absence of modern healthcare facilities. After hearing and witnessing some unfortunate incidents of people losing their lives simply because of their financial status motivated me to choose the medical profession. I made the decision to go into medicine and help people.

I'm keenly interested in learning about subjects relating to the human body. I've always been fascinated by how doctors comprehend the illness and successfully treat patients. Biology is my all-time favourite subject. Even though pursuing a profession in medicine is not simple, I'll work tirelessly to finish my studies and acquire my dream position one day.

I intend to help the underprivileged residents of my community once I have earned my medical degree. Numerous fatal diseases affect the poor, and they are unable to pay for better care. I would schedule a few days every month to provide treatment for all the needy people for free or at a minimal fee in an effort to help them receive medical attention that they need and deserve.

The profession of a doctor has the greatest respect. My goal in life is to become a doctor so that I can help others who cannot afford expensive medical care. I would help many people and their families by becoming a doctor. The joy and inner calm that come from rescuing lives transcends all other emotions.

People claim that the only other being capable of miracles after God is a doctor. Being a doctor is a lifetime achievement. By providing patients with medical care and treatment, a doctor relieves other people's pain and suffering. People who practise medicine bring joy to a lot of patients and their families. Not only is becoming a doctor a fantastic job choice, but it also brings inner satisfaction and fulfilment.

Essay on My Dream Job in 1000-1500 Words

My Dream Job

Everyone has a dream job that they aspire to have one day. For some, it may be to become a doctor and save lives, while for others, it may be to become a famous actor or musician. As for me, my dream job is to become a successful entrepreneur and run my own business.

Ever since I was young, I have always been fascinated by the idea of starting my own business and being my own boss. I have always had a passion for creativity and innovation, and I believe that being an entrepreneur would allow me to express my ideas and bring them to life. The thought of creating something from scratch and seeing it grow and succeed is what drives me to pursue this dream job.

One of the main reasons why I want to become an entrepreneur is the freedom and flexibility that comes with it. I have always been someone who values independence and autonomy, and I believe that being an entrepreneur would allow me to have control over my own destiny. I would be able to set my own schedule, work on projects that I am passionate about, and make decisions that align with my values and beliefs. This level of freedom is something that I find extremely appealing and motivating.

Another reason why I want to become an entrepreneur is the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world. I believe that as an entrepreneur, I would have the ability to create products or services that can solve real-world problems and improve people’s lives. Whether it is developing a new technology that can revolutionize an industry or creating a social enterprise that gives back to the community, I want to use my skills and resources to make a difference in the world.

In addition to the freedom and impact, I am also drawn to the potential financial rewards that come with being an entrepreneur. While money is not the sole motivator for me, I recognize that running a successful business can be financially rewarding. I want to be able to provide for myself and my family, as well as have the financial stability to pursue my passions and interests. By being an entrepreneur, I would have the opportunity to build wealth and create a legacy for future generations.

To achieve my dream job of becoming an entrepreneur, I know that I will need to work hard and be dedicated to my goals. I understand that starting a business is not easy and that there will be challenges and obstacles along the way. However, I am willing to put in the time and effort to learn the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed. I am constantly seeking out opportunities to expand my network, gain experience, and develop my entrepreneurial mindset.

One of the steps that I have taken towards achieving my dream job is pursuing a degree in business administration. I believe that having a solid foundation in business principles and practices will be essential for me to succeed as an entrepreneur. I am currently taking courses in marketing, finance, and management to gain a better understanding of how businesses operate and how to effectively run a company.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have also been gaining practical experience by working on various entrepreneurial projects. I have started a small online business selling handmade crafts and have learned valuable lessons about marketing, customer service, and business operations. I have also participated in business competitions and pitch events to hone my presentation skills and receive feedback from industry professionals.

Looking towards the future, I envision myself running a successful business that is known for its innovative products and exceptional customer service. I see myself leading a team of talented individuals who are passionate about the company’s mission and values. I want to create a work environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and personal growth for all employees.

I also hope to use my success as an entrepreneur to give back to the community and support causes that are important to me. Whether it is through charitable donations, volunteering, or mentorship programs, I want to make a positive impact on society and inspire others to pursue their own dreams.

In conclusion, my dream job of becoming an entrepreneur is driven by my passion for creativity, independence, and making a difference in the world. I am committed to working hard, gaining experience, and continuously learning in order to achieve my goals. I believe that with dedication, perseverance, and a clear vision, I can turn my dream job into a reality and create a successful business that leaves a lasting legacy.

On-the-Job Training Essay

ASSESMENT OF THE PRACTICUM PROGRAM Its proven and well tested! Experience is definitely the best teacher. There are countless things that I’ve learned during my On-the-Job Training at Best Western Premier F1 (Fort 1) Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila. Being in a new and never-been-to environment was a big challenge to me. I exerted great effort to cope up with the means and manner of living of the new environment that I’d indulged into.

I did my best to blend in and went in with the flow of what the real world is offering, the sheer pressure and always on the move, busy and fast-pacing world of the metro cities. With tall and grand infrastructure, busy multi-lane roads, huge crowd of people whom I passed-by now and then, and the hustle and bustle caused by the usual cacophony of the metro cities created not only by great number of vehicles but also by the muttering shouting people; the digging and pounding of the upgrading and growing enormous new structures made of cement and steel.

At first, I was so scared and nervous but was very excited at the same time. While configuring and scrutinizing the entire vicinity of the area where I did my OJT, at some point I lost my sense of direction. It was nerve-wracking yet it was a funny experience though. Good thing, later on I managed to find my way through every destination that I supposed to go to. I was able to meet many distinct individuals and gained many relevant insights about the hotel industry, getting a profound job and a glimpse of how it really looks like.

That very moment, it came to my senses that I must never waste the opportunity that I had, I must give my best and with all extend learn everything what I can learn about hospitality industry that will broaden and expand my knowledge and skills in my field of expertise and never confide myself with the hindrances in achieving my ultimate goals in life. For the very first time, I had experienced a real job interview with a real Human Resource executive in a real HR office. Everything seemed so formal with air of professionalism in the atmosphere of the office.

Every personnel were so prim and proper wearing their corporate suits and were very polite and amiable. Upon arriving a bit early of the scheduled interview, I waited for my name to be called by the executive secretary. When the interview had started, I tried my best to hide my nervousness. To my astonishment, the HR executive turned out to be very kind and easy to talk with. He wasn’t stern and strict as what I had expected; in fact he helped me boost up my confidence that made me feel comfortable talking with him all throughout the interview.

Everything went well, I was told to wait for an email and a text message for the confirmation and schedule of the orientation before I could start my training in the hotel. I was informed that their hotel requires their On-the-Job Trainees to render not less than 500 hours and preferably at least 720 hours of training as imposed by the management of the hotel and being very benevolent to the welfare of their OJT trainees, they allow students to have their practices on the desired departments they required to be assigned to.

During our orientation, we were taught about the essential features and information of the hotel and its services and standards. They taught us how to handle costumer and do services in accordance to the premiere standard of the hotel. I had my orientation together with some students from De la Salle of St. Benil, Pamantasan ng Pasig, and other famous schools in Manila, Pampanga and Batangas. I learned that even if I came from a college in the province, it doesn’t mean I cannot cope up with them, that they are much more equipped and skilled than me.

I had proved to them that students from Saint Vincent’s College possesses an edge in customer service and are much more hardworking and we can compete with them in the field of hospitality industry as being taught and embedded to us by our skilled and competent instructors. I am blessed because all the personnel of the hotel were so kind and generous to me during my training at Best Western F1 Hotel. They had taught me well and were very much willing to share all their insights about their job and about the natures of services in hospitality industry.

As per assigned by the Human Resource Department, my first assigned pose was as an assistant of the Accounts Payable Manager in the Accounting office of the hotel, where my task involves with screening and handling incoming calls, attend to guest that goes in the office, receiving and logging down received documents, checking and reviewing incoming receipts and invoices and summarizing them down in the excel table.

Also attend to basic accounting procedure and processes like checking salary distributions of casual and on-call employees, second review checking for billing statements and payables of the hotel and dissemination of checked and reviewed payable and reimbursement accounts of executive personnel. Making summary of cash disbursement of the hotel, checking purchase order invoices and filling them for preparation of payable checks to clients.

Later on I realized that the office that I was assigned to is the Chairman’s office, the owner of the hotel. In the office I learned to be very careful in my every action especially in handling payable accounts transaction for it involves huge sum of money. The executive employees were so kind and friendly despite of their high positions in the company. They crank jokes to break the silence in the office and they are generous enough to share some snacks or food that they have even to me though I was just an OJT.

I admired the executive bosses because though they have high positions they are humble and down-to-earth, like the hotel’s General Manager, Cost Control Manager, Credit Manager and especially the Resident Manager of the hotel who he, Himself wipes cutleries, fold table napkins and do table set-ups during busy hours in the function rooms. The next department that I was assigned to was in Housekeeping. Here, I learned a lot of things about room services and standards after my first task as a public area attendant.

I have encountered many distinctive types of guest and I was taught how to handle them well. Most of our guest staying in the hotel are foreigners, that’s why I was told to pay attention carefully to each and every request of the guest especially to Korean’s and other Asian guests because most of them don’t know how to converse well in English. I was partnered to the hotel’s Room Attendant who treated and taught me well everything that I wanted to know about being an excellent housekeeper and effective customer service.

He showed me some good techniques in bed making and doing duvet in an easy and fast manner. He taught me ample of towel folds and proper way of arranging amenities in a Premiere standard. He guided me in every rooms cleaning procedure and added some techniques how to effectively finish it quickly and splendidly. He also taught me all the amenities and facilities of each room types. He allows me to have my on hand experience throughout all procedure and guides me if I’m having a hard time.

Every time we are done with our room clean-up and make-up room requests, we proceed to the pantry to arrange the stocks and amenities in the trolley and the storage while waiting for new guest request and room services. I also assigned to the linen and laundry section of the housekeeping department where I learned a lot about different laundry services and how to operate facilities and machineries. I was able to do laundry pick-up and delivery procedures, logging and incorporating each services we had rendered and trusted enough to post it in using the Opera system in the computer.

The staff treated me like I’m one of them and they even trusted me with big tasks like when they assigned me to take over the duty of the linen attendant who got sick and was absent that day. Since no one can replace her for a while, they assigned me the duty to handle all linen and laundry responsibilities because they were confident that I am skilled enough to handle the task. I was also given a chance to be the housekeeping coordinator who attends to all calls for housekeeping intended for guest requests and room status reports and updates.

I experienced turndown services and did rooms cleaning and services on my own without the aid of a Room Attendant during full house accommodation of the hotel and also assigned to mini-bar housekeeping attendant to check and replenish all amenities needed in the mini-bar and pantry areas. Finally, I was assigned to the Food and Beverage department. This time all my skills and patience has been well tested. I experienced a lot of functions and events during banquet services.

It was absolutely a tough task because it seems like we never run out of guests to attend with plus we need to serve them food precisely to the scheduled time and extra services upon requested. Mostly of the guests that we had were from huge and renounced companies like Proctor and Gamble, Mead Johnsons, Holcim, Unilever, and many more whom usually they brought with them guests celebrities like, Coco Martin, Tony Gonzaga, Bea Alonzo, John Estrada, Kathryn Bernardo, Lovie Poe etc during their held events at F1 hotel.

That’s why we were instructed well by the supervisors to be extra careful in handling and attending guests especially the VIP’s. I learned to do multi-tasking and was thought how to do different food station and table set-ups which varies depending upon the kind and theme of the event. I’ve learned that you need to handle each and every costumer well with extra care. As we all know, costumer is the lifeblood to every business. It is a must to treat them well and provide their needs, wants and give them a satisfying service because the success of every business relies on them.

I’ve learned to adjust to every person or costumer that comes in the workplace, not every individual is alike so you must know how to handle each situation and adjust to their differences. Also, you need to be versatile, well rounded and able to work efficiently under pressure. In case of any problem, you need to act on it promptly. Being shy or sluggish has no room in this industry. You need to have focus, have a presence of mind and give your best on everything you do.

Knowing your job and enjoying what you’re doing also helps a lot for an effective performance in providing quality performance in costumer service, you need to smile, have a positive attitude, be patient and create rapport with the every person that you’re dealing with, especially the costumer. I also acquired from my On-the-Job training that for a person to be efficient and successful, you need to work hard, exert great effort, work well even under pressure, be flexible, learn from every mistake and correct them, never complain on task given to you, respect your co-workers, be humble and have your mind set on what you’re doing.

I really had a great experience with all the people around me during my practicum, especially the staffs. They taught me a lot and I really learned a lot from them. All of them are friendly and fun to work with. During the practicum they help us learn many thing and allows us to have a first-hand experience with dealing with costumer and if ever we commit mistake they are considerate enough to guide us in correcting them, tells us what to do to refrain from doing it again, teach what we can further do to improve our learning on different aspects in customer service and expound our newly acquired learning.

First they let us observe what to do in different task and how they do it then assist us in performing it and finally let us do it in our own. I also experienced meeting different customer that come and go in the workplace; most of them are kind, approachable and easy to deal with and there are also those who are very strict and rude but eventually I’ve learned to handle and deal with them well, you just need to be patient with them, humble and please them with a great and satisfying service.

One event that I can’t really forget during my practicum was when I had successfully accomplished my task well, had pleased a bunch of costumer and they complimented on my service. They uttered that they are pleased with my performance and the management complimented me and said that we were very well taught by our school where I came from because of the quality of good service, hard work and dedication that I showed them.

It was really a great privilege to have heard such gratifying words from people that you had worked with. It was as if all my hard work and stress had paid off and I were further motivated to do better, show my best in everything that I do and prove that hotel and restaurant management students of Saint Vincent’s College are skilled, knowledgeable and competent enough to compete with other colleges and universities offering the same field of study in terms of hotel and restaurant industry.

Indeed, this practicum experience is really a great help to each every student that wishes to be in the Hospitality Industry for it will really allows student to be more skillful in doing different task in hotel, restaurants and other related establishments in providing customer service. For those who will undergo the practicum program soon, they must be disciplined and must do their best in everything they do. They must be patient, must have perseverance, and must have a presence of mind and willing work without being told.

They also need to know well what they are doing, focus, establish rapport with the people around them, be well rounded and ensure quality service to costumer. They must learn to adjust to every situation. And must be eager to learn new things that can help them in the near future because this is just a start and a taste of what the real world can be, where you will face real costumers and problems that you need to please and overcome.

My Dream Job Manager

How it works

Kenyan political activist Wangari Maathai once said, “You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them”. Maathai’s words perfectly enrapture what being a Natural Resource Manager is all about. This job is to educate children and adults alike the wonders of nature and how to appreciate and protect our world.

In accordance with the book Green Careers, a Natural Resources Manger would fall into a category of Natural and Land Resource Management but also into the category of Green Education.

Natural and Land Resource Management includes Fish and Game Wardens, Wildlife Officers, Park Naturalists, Park Rangers, Interpreters, Range Managers, and Natural Resource Managers. Encompassing these two categories is what the title of Natural Resource Manager means at Beall Woods State Park. However, earning this title does take a bit of schooling and training. To become a Natural Resource Manager, you must get a bachelor’s degree. Furthermore, there are many educational paths you can take. Any bachelor’s degree in biology or environmental science will do but you can pursue a more specific discipline. You can also go more generalized as well by obtaining a degree in biology, forestry, botany, zoology, geology, or park management. Working in the field some jobs may require a master’s degree or even a doctorate. As well as if you are going into a teaching position, your master’s degree or Ph.D. will be required depending on the organization. Although there are no pre-required trainings, most Natural Resource Managers will learn crucial training on the job within the first few weeks as well as continuous training for current projects and planning.

After education and training the big question now is where to work. The work field of a Natural Resource Manager is high in demand. This job can be done all over the world, which allows the demand to stay at large. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, U.S. college graduates with expertise in food, agriculture, renewable natural resources, and the environment are highly sought-after. In fact, the department has predicted almost 58,000 average annual openings for recent graduates over the next few years. (“Becoming a Natural Resource Manager,” 2019) With this job’s rising high demand, the salary has been somewhat on the rise as well. In May of 2015, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that conservation scientists, including natural resource managers, earned an average annual wage of $63,800, with the top- paying average wage of $84,970. (“The phenomenal demand for Environment,”)

Therefore, there are many perks to being a Natural Resource Manager, but also some disappointments as well. After interviewing Jacque Cullison, Natural Resource Manager at Beall Woods State Park, I found just what she loves about the job and the parts that are a little harder. Getting to where she is in her job took many years of hard work. She first got interested in nature as she grew up spending most of her time outdoors. Her grandfather began taking her fishing as soon as she could walk. From there, they shared many hunting, fishing, and sporting events together. As she got older, she would collect insects, leaves, and began her interest in everything from microorganisms to the largest tree specimen she could find. This lead her eventually to Wabash Valley College to earn her Associate degree in Science and Associate in Science and Arts. Transferring to the University of Southern Indiana, she continued her education completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Sharing her “love of nature with all ages and inspiring individuals’ curiosity about not only specific species of flora and fauna but taking a look at the big picture; the amazing interconnection of organisms occurring in the environment around them.” is her favorite part of the job. She also loves creating or enhancing the wildlife habitat with projects such as establishing pollination gardens, building nesting boxes, and planting trees. Education is also one of Jacque’s preferred activities, she loves being able to share her passion with all ages of school students hoping to inspire someone like she was. “It’s always exciting meeting visitors from all over the world and being able to hear about their travel experiences.” But Jacque does wish that some visitors were more respectful of the park and the property, understanding what a unique and wonderful environment they are able to use as a recreational and educational resource. “Littering and vandalism are always disappointing to see.”

Natural Resource Manager is not a job title I thought I would ever see myself having. I’ve always had a love for and been interested in nature. Although, I have mostly leaned towards the ocean aspect of nature, this job does have an appeal to me. Natural Resource Manager is not a job I think I would have ever considered if I had not interned at Beall Woods State Park. After working with some incredible people and seeing everything that goes on behind the scenes of the park, I solidified my love for working with children and learning and hearing stories from people around the world. As I stated before, working with children is something I am very passionate about. Jacque does programs for educational outreach, and even creates study tubs for teachers to use with all the materials they would need to teach an environmental subject while learning about the topic themselves. Although I will not be going specifically into this field, I will use these ideas and education methods in the future, possibly with a research lab or even an aquarium education program. I would not say that this job is my perfect fit and it is not what I want to do for my future career, but the experience was amazing, and I will be able to take the skills I learned to every future job to come.

Natural Resource Management is no small task. After a minimum of four years of schooling and then job hunting, they become responsible for the extremely important job of educating children and adults alike about the wonders of nature and how to appreciate and protect our world. Although, the road to becoming a Natural Resource Manager can be long, the job is filled with exciting moments and wonderful stories. For anyone with the love of nature this job can be rewarding in many ways. Not only continuing to foster their own passion and knowledge of nature but being able to share it and inspire others as well.

Essay Writing

Having a goal or aim in life is very important, it gives our life a purpose and direction. While growing up every person dreams about what they want to become in the future. Almost all of us think about our dream job and what our life will look like after we start to work in that job. Like other people, I also have the ambition to become a medical doctor one day.  As a kid, I was always influenced and inspired by doctors. The most prominent reason I chose this as my dream career is that I want to help humanity by caring for their physical health. In this dream career essay, I will discuss how and why I chose to become a medical doctor.

My Dream Job Essay Example – 700 Word Long Essay

According to American author, Suzy Kassem, “A heart without dreams is like a bird without feathers” .  This shows how important aim and ambition are in life. Our goals in life give us direction and purpose. A bird cannot fly without feathers and a person cannot flourish in life without any aim. As kids, we all had different ideas about what we wanted to become in our professional life. Unlike the past when everyone only wanted to become doctors, engineers, and lawyers things have now changed. Nowadays people want to become singers, artists, poets, musicians, and whatnot. I also have an ambition in life and that is to become a medical doctor, just not some ordinary doctor. I want to be a cardiologist who specializes in studies of the heart. This is my dream career because it will enable me to help humanity by healing their hearts.

When I was young I wanted to be an astronaut until one day when I realized that people are dying every day because there are very few doctors. On top of that, the cardiologists were even lesser. Good cardiologists at that time were not enough to attend to the heart problems of a population that big. Because of this lack of good doctors cardiologists only attended to patients who paid more money for their services and the poor patients were dying without anybody taking care of them. My grandmother was also a heart patient and one day she died of a heart attack because my father was unable to pay the doctor’s fee for heart surgery. That day I made a promise to myself that I will become a cardiologist to help the poor and needy people.

Another thing I like about this profession is that medical doctors work like scientists and discoverers. They do deep research and experiment to help patients suffering from different problems. They attend different seminars and learn all the time. I find all these tasks very exciting and challenging. I believe that when I become a cardiologist I would enjoy performing these tasks which will provide me with job satisfaction. A medical profession like being a doctor is considered the noblest job as compared to other professions. There is a huge demand for good cardiologists all around the world which also means that I will be able to live a luxurious life.

Nowadays as a teenager, I am in the company of a very intelligent academic expert who is also a great teacher, mentor, and role model for me. He is none other than my father who is also a surgeon by profession. At one point when I became scared of the long struggle to become a doctor, my father told me how to face challenges and not to run away from them. He motivated me to set my own goals and gain knowledge to pursue my ultimate goal. Now under the influence of a good teacher in my college who is offering all professional help, I am confident about achieving my career and dreams. The most important thing to me at this time is my passion and desire to achieve this dream. I know I have to work hard to achieve this dream job.

I plan to pay more attention to my education and practice researching as well. I plan to be active in school and participate in programs that give information about how to enter and survive in the health sector. I also wish to voluntarily participate in health centers to support our community. With these plans, I hope that step by step I can be successful in achieving my dream job. I also know that getting the best medical education can put a financial strain on me, therefore I plan to get a job while studying to meet my financial needs. I am willing to do all this so that no poor heart patient that I know of will die from heart problems like my grandmother.

In conclusion, my dream job is more than gaining a position of power, respect, or financial stability. My dream job is to help humanity and especially poor patients by treating them with the respect all humans deserve.

My Dream To Become A Doctor – 300 Word Short  Essay Sample Sample

We all have dreams and ambitions while growing up. Every one of us wants to become like those who inspire and motivate us in life. Just like Martin Luther King who fought for the rights of black people I also have a dream. However, my dream is about my future profession. Like many people nowadays I also want to become a medical doctor. The most important thing for choosing this profession is to help humanity and fulfill the ever-growing need for doctors in our community. In this essay, I will discuss why I chose the doctor profession as a dream career for me.

I want to pursue this career because of an experience I had some years ago. My grandmother died from Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). She used to experience severe chest pain, breathing problems, and nausea but no cardiologist attended to her because my father did not have any money back then. I loved her with all my heart but I could not do anything for her at that time. When she passed away I made a promise to myself that I will help all poor people and will not charge them money. This sad event changed my life for the better. Career-wise now I have an aim in life with a passion to pursue it with all my heart.

I know that becoming a doctor is not easy, that is why I am studying hard to achieve this life goal. My mother and teachers always taught me that with passion, hard work, and motivation every goal can be achieved. This is why I am working day and night to become a better student. I also want to become a doctor because it is the noblest job that can help me have a fulfilling career. Doctors nowadays can also afford all luxuries and still help the people in need by giving them money and free services. So, these are some of the reasons why my dream job is to become a doctor.

My Dream Job – Flight Attendant

My Dream Job – Flight Attendant

The article discusses the concept of an ideal job, which changes as one grows older. While money becomes a significant factor in choosing a career, enjoying the work also holds importance. The author shares their experience of working as a waitress and realizing the value of physical work. They believe that an ideal job should be neither too active nor too sedentary and should be enjoyable. The author’s dream job is being a flight attendant as it offers the opportunity to travel around the world. Finally, the article concludes that a dream job is not just about earning a lot of money but also enjoying the work and life.

I am sure, that each of you once had had a desire to have an extraordinary job in his early childhood, be it an astronaut or a scientist. Later on, getting older, you also start to consider the money you earn in a job and suddenly, not only you want to become a doctor, a lawyer or a superstar. Does your ideal job go hand in hand with a high salary then, or do you want to enjoy what you are doing? I started to think about my ideal job, when I was working as a waitress in a hotel in the summertime.

I’ll never forget the time when I had to work ten hours a day without a minute sitting but running with plates from one table to another, beside, serving some customers. Thus I could imagine how hard work can be for just little money. There is nothing worse than physical work that exhausts you, so my idea of an ideal job is neither an extremely active work, nor a sedentary job, but something in between. Furthermore, work should be fun. You may not agree with me, but I think that as long as you enjoy your activities earning little money, you can call the work your dream job.

However, the pleasure I am thinking of does not exclude stress or barriers, because work otherwise would be aimless and without any outcome. The ideal job I have in my mind is being a flight attendant. It is true that it is tiring to face passengers, even those who behave badly with a smiling face all the time but I would get the chance to travel around the world, and that is, in my eyes the best job. If you ask me, a dream job is not only related to earning a lot of money, but it also includes to enjoying your work and life by what you are doing!
