Faculty Resources

Assignments.

icon of a pencil cup

The assignments in this course are openly licensed, and are available as-is, or can be modified to suit your students’ needs. Answer keys are available to faculty who adopt Waymaker, OHM, or Candela courses with paid support from Lumen Learning. This approach helps us protect the academic integrity of these materials by ensuring they are shared only with authorized and institution-affiliated faculty and staff.

If you import this course into your learning management system (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.), the assignments will automatically be loaded into the assignment tool.

Salty Pawz Assignments and Discussions

Half of the written assignments and discussions (32 in total) are based on a case study, whose focus is a fictional dog-treats business called “Salty Pawz.” Many of these assignments take the form of asking students to give Wanda, the company’s inexperienced owner, advice about how she can run her business more effectively. Lighthearted in tone, the Salty Pawz case study and associated assignments create a common framework for applying knowledge and skills developed through the course, encouraging students to demonstrate mastery of the content through real-world tasks and work products.

Alternate Assignments and Discussions

The other half of the written assignments and discussions (32 in total) use a variety of approaches, depending on the subject and learning outcome being assessed; many ask students to go beyond course content to form connections between research topics and what they’ve learned in class.

Using Assignments

We recommend assigning  one discussion OR one assignment per chapter , rather than all of them.   Some instructors prefer to stick with the Salty Pawz theme throughout the course; others like to use some of the alternates along the way. You can view any assignments or discussions below or throughout the course.

A. Definition of Entrepreneurship Homework

business homework

In the realm of academia, entrepreneurship homework refers to a multifaceted approach aimed at cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit within students. It involves assignments and projects that go beyond traditional academic exercises, challenging students to engage with real-world business scenarios. Entrepreneurship homework encourages students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

This type of homework often entails the development of business plans, ideation of innovative solutions, and the exploration of entrepreneurial challenges. It serves as a bridge between classroom learning and the dynamic landscape of entrepreneurship, preparing students for the complexities they may encounter in their future endeavors. By providing a hands-on experience, entrepreneurship homework becomes a pivotal component in shaping students into forward-thinking individuals capable of navigating the intricacies of the business world.

B. Importance of Entrepreneurship Education

The significance of entrepreneurship education within the context of entrepreneurship homework cannot be overstated. Entrepreneurship education goes beyond the conventional classroom setting, offering students a unique opportunity to develop skills that are crucial for success in the dynamic business environment. It instills a mindset of innovation, risk-taking, and resourcefulness, essential qualities for aspiring entrepreneurs. Through entrepreneurship homework, students not only grasp theoretical concepts but also learn to apply them in practical scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial process.

This educational approach equips students with the tools to identify opportunities, create viable business plans, and navigate the challenges inherent in the world of entrepreneurship. Moreover, by integrating entrepreneurship into the curriculum, educational institutions contribute to the development of a new generation of forward-thinking individuals who are not only academically proficient but also possess the practical skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving global economy.

C. Challenges Faced by Students in Entrepreneurship Homework

Navigating entrepreneurship homework presents students with a unique set of challenges that require both creativity and strategic thinking to overcome. One prominent challenge is the complexity of real-world problem-solving inherent in entrepreneurial  assignments . Students may find it daunting to translate theoretical knowledge into actionable business plans or innovative solutions. Additionally, the dynamic nature of entrepreneurship introduces uncertainty and ambiguity, testing students’ adaptability and resilience. Time management is another common hurdle, as entrepreneurship homework often involves extensive research, planning, and collaboration, requiring students to juggle multiple tasks effectively.

Balancing the theoretical aspects of coursework with the practical demands of entrepreneurial assignments can be a delicate task, and students may grapple with striking the right equilibrium. Despite these challenges, tackling entrepreneurship homework offers invaluable opportunities for growth, enabling students to develop skills that are not only academically rewarding but also essential for success in the entrepreneurial landscape.

A. Overview of Entrepreneurial Concepts in School Curriculum

Setting the stage for effective entrepreneurship homework involves delving into the overarching framework of entrepreneurial concepts within the school curriculum. This overview is instrumental in providing students with a foundational understanding of the principles that underpin entrepreneurial ventures. The school curriculum introduces students to key entrepreneurial concepts such as opportunity recognition, market analysis, financial planning, and risk management. By integrating these concepts into coursework, educational institutions aim to nurture a holistic understanding of entrepreneurship that goes beyond theoretical knowledge.

This foundation sets the stage for entrepreneurship homework by laying the groundwork for students to apply these concepts in practical, real-world scenarios. The incorporation of entrepreneurial elements into the curriculum not only enriches academic learning but also serves as a precursor to the hands-on, problem-solving nature of entrepreneurship homework, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their entrepreneurial journeys.

B. Significance of Integrating Practical homework

business homework

The significance of integrating practical homework into the setting of entrepreneurship education is paramount in preparing students for the intricacies of the business world. Practical homework serves as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, offering students a hands-on experience in the entrepreneurial process. By engaging with practical assignments, students not only deepen their understanding of entrepreneurial concepts but also develop critical skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, and creative thinking. This integration fosters a proactive and innovative mindset, encouraging students to go beyond traditional academic boundaries.

The practical homework component in the setting of entrepreneurship education ensures that students are not only equipped with theoretical knowledge but are also adept at navigating the challenges they may encounter in their entrepreneurial endeavors. It transforms entrepreneurship education into a dynamic and immersive learning experience, laying a robust foundation for students to become resourceful and forward-thinking entrepreneurs in the future.

C. How Entrepreneurship Homework Prepares Students for the Future

Entrepreneurship homework plays a pivotal role in preparing students for the future by cultivating a unique skill set essential for success in the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of business. The practical nature of entrepreneurship assignments allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, fostering a deep understanding of the entrepreneurial process. Beyond academic achievements, entrepreneurship homework hones critical skills such as problem-solving, adaptability, and innovative thinking. By grappling with the challenges presented in entrepreneurial assignments, students develop a resilience that is crucial for navigating uncertainties in their future careers.

Moreover, the experience gained through entrepreneurship homework encourages a proactive mindset, instilling in students the confidence to take risks and turn challenges into opportunities. This preparation extends beyond academic pursuits, positioning students as resilient, creative thinkers well-equipped to thrive in the entrepreneurial ventures and workplace challenges they will encounter in the future.

A. Deconstructing the Homework Prompt

Deconstructing the homework prompt is a fundamental step in understanding entrepreneurship homework and is key to successfully navigating the intricacies of the assignment. This process involves breaking down the prompt into its constituent parts, carefully analyzing key terms, and identifying the specific objectives outlined. By deconstructing the homework prompt, students gain clarity on the scope and focus of the assignment, allowing for a more targeted and effective approach to their work.

This step is crucial in determining the essential components of the entrepreneurial problem statement, enabling students to identify key challenges and formulate strategic solutions. In essence, deconstructing the homework prompt is a strategic tool that empowers students to approach entrepreneurship homework with a clear and informed perspective, setting the stage for a more comprehensive and successful completion of the assignment.

B. Grasping the Entrepreneurial Problem Statement

Grasping the entrepreneurial problem statement is a pivotal aspect of understanding entrepreneurship homework, as it forms the core challenge that students must address in their assignments. This involves a comprehensive exploration of the issues presented, identifying the underlying problems, and gaining insights into the intricacies of the entrepreneurial context. By delving into the problem statement, students can discern the specific entrepreneurial challenges they need to tackle, allowing for a focused and targeted approach to their homework.

This process is not only about problem identification but also entails the formulation of viable and innovative solutions. Grasping the entrepreneurial problem statement equips students with the foundational knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of their assignments, fostering a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of entrepreneurship and providing a solid basis for the development of creative and effective solutions.

A. Utilizing Online Resource

Utilizing online resources is a cornerstone of effective research strategies in entrepreneurship homework. In today’s digital age, students have unprecedented access to a wealth of information and entrepreneurial insights available on the internet. Online resources include reputable entrepreneurship websites, academic databases, and digital libraries that offer a diverse range of perspectives and case studies. Students can leverage these platforms to conduct in-depth research, gather relevant data, and stay abreast of current trends in the entrepreneurial landscape.

The accessibility of online resources not only enriches the quality of research but also empowers students to explore a variety of entrepreneurial perspectives, enhancing the depth and breadth of their assignments. Incorporating a well-curated selection of online resources into research strategies is essential for students aiming to create well-informed, evidence-based, and comprehensive entrepreneurship homework.

B. Interviewing Entrepreneurs

Interviewing entrepreneurs is a dynamic and invaluable component of research strategies in entrepreneurship homework. Beyond the confines of traditional research methods, engaging directly with entrepreneurs provides students with firsthand insights into the challenges, successes, and nuances of real-world entrepreneurship. By conducting interviews, students can gain a deeper understanding of practical experiences, industry-specific knowledge, and the decision-making processes that shape entrepreneurial endeavors. Crafting effective interview questions becomes crucial in extracting meaningful information, fostering a dialogue that goes beyond textbook theories.

Networking opportunities arise through these interactions, allowing students to build connections with professionals in the field and potentially uncovering mentorship possibilities. Interviewing entrepreneurs not only enhances the authenticity of the research but also adds a human dimension to the academic exploration of entrepreneurship, contributing to a richer and more well-rounded perspective in the development of entrepreneurship homework.

A. Importance of a Well-Structured Business Plan

The importance of a well-structured business plan cannot be overstated in the process of creating a solid foundation for entrepreneurship homework. A business plan serves as the roadmap for any entrepreneurial venture, and its significance is mirrored in academic assignments. It acts as a comprehensive guide, outlining the goals, strategies, and operational details of a business idea. In the context of entrepreneurship homework, a meticulously crafted business plan not only showcases a student’s understanding of entrepreneurial concepts but also demonstrates their ability to translate theoretical knowledge into a practical and viable roadmap. It serves as a tool for critical thinking, forcing students to analyze market dynamics, assess risks, and formulate strategies for success.

Moreover, a well-structured business plan provides a clear narrative, making it easier for both the student and their audience to grasp the essence of the entrepreneurial concept. This emphasis on structure ensures that the entrepreneurial vision is not only innovative but also realistically executable, setting the stage for a comprehensive and compelling entrepreneurship homework assignment.

B. Components of an Effective Business Plan

Creating a solid business plan entails incorporating essential components that collectively contribute to its effectiveness. An effective business plan is not merely a document but a strategic roadmap that guides the entrepreneurial journey. The executive summary, acting as the business plan’s synopsis, succinctly outlines the core elements of the venture. Market analysis is a crucial component, involving a comprehensive examination of industry trends, target demographics, and competitors. Financial projections provide a realistic assessment of the venture’s financial viability, covering aspects such as revenue forecasts and budgetary considerations.

Additionally, a well-defined marketing strategy outlines how the business will attract and retain customers. Operational plans detail the day-to-day functioning of the venture, while a solid risk management section anticipates potential challenges and proposes mitigation strategies. Finally, a thoughtful exit strategy reflects a forward-thinking approach, demonstrating an understanding of the dynamic nature of entrepreneurship. Incorporating these components ensures that the business plan not only communicates a clear vision but also withstands the scrutiny of real-world application, making it a vital aspect of creating a solid foundation for entrepreneurship homework.

A. The Power of Creative Thinking in Entrepreneurship

business homework

The power of creative thinking stands as a cornerstone in the realm of entrepreneurship, especially when it comes to innovative ideation in entrepreneurship homework. Creative thinking is the engine that propels entrepreneurial ventures beyond the ordinary, fostering a mindset that thrives on originality and innovation. In the context of homework assignments, infusing creative thinking into the ideation process transforms solutions into opportunities. This involves breaking free from conventional thought patterns and exploring unique approaches to address entrepreneurial challenges. Techniques such as mind mapping and reverse brainstorming become invaluable tools, unlocking the potential for inventive solutions.

Encouraging students to harness the power of creative thinking in their entrepreneurship homework not only enhances the quality of their assignments but also cultivates a mindset that is essential for success in the dynamic and competitive landscape of entrepreneurship. It propels students to think beyond the expected, fostering a spirit of ingenuity that distinguishes their entrepreneurial visions and solutions.

B. Brainstorming Techniques for Generating Unique Ideas

In the realm of entrepreneurship, effective brainstorming techniques are instrumental for generating unique and innovative ideas, particularly in the context of entrepreneurship homework. Brainstorming serves as a creative catalyst, encouraging students to think divergently and explore unconventional solutions to entrepreneurial challenges. Techniques such as mind mapping provide a visual framework for organizing thoughts, fostering connections between ideas and revealing hidden possibilities. Reverse brainstorming, on the other hand, prompts students to identify problems rather than solutions, paving the way for unconventional insights.

Group sessions for brainstorming can further enhance the ideation process by leveraging the collective creativity of diverse perspectives. By emphasizing and guiding students in the application of these brainstorming techniques in their entrepreneurship homework, educators foster an environment where inventive thinking is not only encouraged but becomes a fundamental aspect of developing entrepreneurial solutions that stand out in complexity and creativity.

A. Planning and Prioritizing Tasks

In the realm of entrepreneurship homework, mastering the art of time management begins with effective planning and prioritizing of tasks. The multifaceted nature of entrepreneurial assignments demands a strategic approach to ensure that various components are addressed comprehensively and within designated timelines. Planning involves breaking down the assignment into manageable sections, setting realistic milestones, and creating a roadmap for task completion. Prioritizing tasks ensures that essential elements receive the attention they deserve, allowing students to allocate time and resources efficiently.

The dynamic nature of entrepreneurship homework necessitates adaptability, and effective time management enables students to navigate the intricacies of research, ideation, and presentation with precision. By instilling the principles of planning and prioritization, students not only enhance their productivity but also develop a foundational skill crucial for success in both academic pursuits and future entrepreneurial endeavors.

B. Breaking Down the homework into Manageable Sections

Breaking down entrepreneurship homework into manageable sections is a fundamental aspect of effective time management. Given the multifaceted nature of entrepreneurial assignments, tackling them in smaller, more digestible portions allows students to approach their work with clarity and focus. This process involves dissecting the overall assignment into distinct tasks, milestones, or specific components, each with its own set of objectives.

By doing so, students can create a structured plan that makes the workload more manageable and reduces the likelihood of feeling overwhelmed. This approach not only aids in tracking progress but also facilitates a more strategic allocation of time and resources. Breaking down entrepreneurship homework into manageable sections is a key strategy for promoting efficiency, ensuring that students can navigate the various aspects of their assignments with a well-organized and systematic approach to time management.

A. Applying Classroom Concepts to Real-world Scenarios

Balancing theory and practice in entrepreneurship homework involves a crucial step: applying classroom concepts to real-world scenarios. While theoretical knowledge provides a foundational understanding of entrepreneurial principles, the true test lies in the application of these concepts to practical situations. In the context of entrepreneurship homework, students are encouraged to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the complexities of the business world. This process requires them to contextualize theoretical frameworks within the dynamic and ever-changing landscape of entrepreneurship.

By applying classroom concepts to real-world scenarios in their assignments, students not only deepen their understanding but also develop the practical skills necessary for success in entrepreneurial endeavors. This approach transforms entrepreneurship homework from a theoretical exercise into a meaningful application of knowledge, fostering a holistic understanding of the subject and preparing students for the challenges they may encounter in their future ventures.

B. Integrating Practical Examples into Homework Assignments

business homework

In the pursuit of balancing theory and practice in entrepreneurship homework, a critical strategy involves the integration of practical examples into assignments. While theoretical concepts form the foundation of entrepreneurial understanding, practical examples bring these theories to life, illustrating their real-world applicability. Incorporating practical examples into homework assignments not only reinforces classroom learning but also challenges students to think critically about how theoretical frameworks manifest in actual business scenarios.

Whether through case studies, industry examples, or real-world success stories, integrating practical examples enhances the depth and richness of entrepreneurship homework. This approach not only solidifies theoretical concepts but also equips students with the ability to navigate the complexities of the business landscape with a well-rounded understanding of both theory and practice, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities they may encounter in their entrepreneurial journeys.

A. Benefits of Collaborative Entrepreneurship Homework

Engaging in collaborative entrepreneurship homework offers a myriad of benefits that extend beyond individual achievement. Peer collaboration in entrepreneurship homework enhances the learning experience by fostering a collective exchange of ideas, skills, and perspectives. Working collaboratively allows students to tap into the diverse strengths of their peers, creating a dynamic synergy that mirrors the collaborative nature of the business world. Through collaboration, students develop effective communication and teamwork skills, essential qualities for success in entrepreneurial endeavors.

Additionally, the shared workload promotes efficiency, enabling the completion of tasks within designated timelines. Peer collaboration encourages the exploration of different approaches to problem-solving and ideation, contributing to a richer and more innovative outcome. Ultimately, the benefits of collaborative entrepreneurship homework extend to the development of a collaborative mindset, preparing students for the collaborative demands they will likely encounter in their future professional and entrepreneurial pursuits.

B. Establishing Effective Group Dynamics

Establishing effective group dynamics is a key element in successful peer collaboration for entrepreneurship homework. In a collaborative setting, the synergy among team members significantly influences the quality and efficiency of the work produced. Establishing clear communication channels, defining roles, and fostering an inclusive environment are essential for cultivating a positive group dynamic. This ensures that each member’s strengths are utilized, and diverse perspectives are considered, enriching the overall ideation and problem-solving process.

Effective group dynamics also involve creating a space where everyone feels comfortable expressing their ideas and providing constructive feedback. By emphasizing the importance of teamwork and effective communication, students not only enhance the quality of their entrepreneurship homework but also develop interpersonal skills crucial for collaborative success in their future entrepreneurial ventures and professional careers.

A. Importance of Regular Feedback

The importance of regular feedback is paramount when seeking guidance from instructors in entrepreneurship homework. Instructors serve as valuable mentors who can provide insightful perspectives and constructive criticism to refine and elevate the quality of students’ work. Regular feedback creates a continuous feedback loop, allowing students to understand their strengths and areas for improvement throughout the entrepreneurial assignment process. This iterative approach ensures that students can make timely adjustments, enhancing the overall quality of their work.

In addition to refining specific assignments, regular feedback fosters a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial concepts, contributing to students’ ongoing development in the subject. Emphasizing the importance of seeking guidance and feedback from instructors not only nurtures a supportive learning environment but also instills a proactive mindset that is invaluable for growth and success in the entrepreneurial journey.

B. Approaching Instructors with Questions and Concerns

business homework

Approaching instructors with questions and concerns is a proactive and essential practice when seeking guidance in entrepreneurship homework . Instructors play a pivotal role not only in delivering content but also in guiding students through the complexities of entrepreneurial assignments. Students should view their instructors as valuable resources and mentors who can provide clarification, offer insights, and address any challenges they may encounter. Initiating open communication by asking questions and expressing concerns demonstrates a commitment to understanding the material thoroughly. This approach fosters a supportive learning environment, allowing students to gain the clarity needed to excel in their entrepreneurship homework.

Moreover, it strengthens the student-instructor relationship, establishing a foundation for effective guidance and mentorship, which are instrumental for success in both academic endeavors and future entrepreneurial ventures.

A. Entrepreneurship Software and Apps

Utilizing technology tools, specifically entrepreneurship software and apps, is a strategic approach in navigating entrepreneurship homework. In an era where technology plays a pivotal role in business operations, incorporating relevant software and apps enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of entrepreneurial assignments. Specialized tools can aid in various aspects, from conducting market research and financial analysis to creating visually engaging presentations. These applications not only streamline processes but also provide students with hands-on experience using tools that are prevalent in the business world.

Moreover, leveraging entrepreneurship software and apps fosters a tech-savvy mindset, a valuable skill in today’s digital landscape. By encouraging students to explore and integrate these tools into their entrepreneurship homework, educators prepare them for the technological demands they will likely encounter in their future entrepreneurial ventures and professional careers.

B. Online Platforms for Collaboration and Presentation

In the realm of entrepreneurship homework, the utilization of technology tools extends to online platforms for collaboration and presentation, revolutionizing the way students work and present their ideas. These platforms facilitate seamless collaboration among team members, allowing for real-time sharing of ideas, documents, and feedback. Platforms like Google Workspace or Microsoft Teams enable students to work collectively on assignments, breaking down geographical barriers and fostering a collaborative spirit. Additionally, online presentation tools such as Canva or Prezi offer dynamic and visually appealing ways to showcase entrepreneurial concepts.

The integration of these platforms not only enhances the efficiency of teamwork but also aligns with the contemporary methods of communication and collaboration prevalent in the business world. By incorporating these online tools into entrepreneurship homework, students not only develop a technological skill set but also gain exposure to collaborative practices reflective of the current digital landscape.

A. Dealing with Writer’s Block

Dealing with writer’s block is a common challenge faced by students in entrepreneurship homework, and overcoming it requires a strategic approach. Writer’s block can hinder the creative process and impede progress in crafting assignments. To overcome this challenge, students can employ techniques such as taking short breaks, changing the environment, or engaging in activities that stimulate creativity.

Moreover, breaking down the assignment into smaller tasks and focusing on one element at a time can help alleviate the overwhelming feeling of a blank page. Seeking inspiration from diverse sources, revisiting research, or discussing ideas with peers can also provide a fresh perspective. By acknowledging and addressing writer’s block, students not only navigate this common challenge effectively but also develop resilience and creative problem-solving skills, essential attributes for success in both academic and entrepreneurial pursuits.

B. Managing Stress and Pressure

business homework

Managing stress and pressure is crucial when overcoming common challenges in entrepreneurship homework . The demands of entrepreneurial assignments can sometimes create a high-pressure environment, impacting a student’s ability to think creatively and perform effectively. Implementing effective stress management techniques, such as setting realistic goals, practicing mindfulness, and taking regular breaks, is essential. Breaking down the assignment into manageable tasks and prioritizing them can also alleviate stress. Moreover, seeking support from peers, instructors, or support services can provide valuable perspectives and encouragement. By proactively managing stress and pressure, students not only enhance their overall well-being but also develop resilience and coping mechanisms that will serve them well in the face of challenges both in academia and future entrepreneurial endeavors.

A. Crafting Engaging Slides and Visuals

Crafting engaging slides and visuals is a pivotal element in showcasing creativity during presentations in entrepreneurship homework. In a world where attention spans are limited, compelling visual elements can significantly enhance the effectiveness of a presentation. Entrepreneurs are often tasked with communicating complex ideas succinctly, and well-crafted slides and visuals serve as powerful tools to convey information, capture attention, and leave a lasting impression. This aspect of entrepreneurship homework goes beyond the traditional textual format, encouraging students to think creatively about how to visually represent their ideas. Incorporating infographics, images, charts, and other multimedia elements not only adds vibrancy to the presentation but also reinforces key concepts in a memorable way.

By emphasizing the importance of crafting engaging slides and visuals, educators empower students to not only communicate their entrepreneurial vision effectively but also to stand out in a world where visual communication is paramount.

B. Incorporating Storytelling Elements

In the realm of showcasing creativity in entrepreneurship homework presentations, incorporating storytelling elements emerges as a powerful and engaging strategy. Storytelling transcends the mere conveyance of facts and figures, weaving a narrative that captivates the audience and brings concepts to life. Entrepreneurship often involves the art of persuasion, and storytelling provides students with a vehicle to emotionally connect with their audience. By infusing personal anecdotes, relatable examples, or narrative arcs into their presentations, students not only convey information but also create a memorable and compelling experience for their audience.

This approach not only enhances the creative dimension of entrepreneurship homework but also reflects a strategic understanding of effective communication in the business world. Emphasizing storytelling elements in presentations encourages students to think beyond the conventional, fostering a skill set that is not only essential for entrepreneurship but also for establishing impactful connections in any professional setting.

A. Importance of Editing and Proofreading

The importance of editing and proofreading cannot be overstated in the process of revising and refining entrepreneurship homework. After investing time and effort into research, ideation, and crafting the initial draft, thorough editing and proofreading play a critical role in ensuring the quality and coherence of the final product. Editing involves a comprehensive review of content, structure, and clarity, addressing issues such as consistency, logic, and flow. Proofreading, on the other hand, focuses on eliminating grammatical errors, typos, and other language-related issues. These meticulous processes not only enhance the overall professionalism of the assignment but also contribute to effective communication.

By emphasizing the importance of editing and proofreading in entrepreneurship homework, educators instill in students a commitment to precision and excellence, preparing them for the standards expected in the professional world and refining their ability to articulate entrepreneurial ideas with clarity and impact.

B. Peer Review and Feedback Incorporation

business homework

Peer review and feedback incorporation serve as indispensable steps in the iterative process of revising and refining entrepreneurship homework. Seeking input from peers provides a fresh perspective on one’s ideas and presentation, offering valuable insights that might have been overlooked. Engaging in a peer review process fosters a collaborative learning environment, allowing students to benefit from diverse viewpoints and constructive criticism. Incorporating feedback from peers requires a receptive mindset, encouraging students to critically evaluate suggestions and make informed revisions.

This not only improves the overall quality of the assignment but also hones essential skills in giving and receiving constructive feedback—a crucial aspect of professional growth. The peer review and feedback incorporation stage in entrepreneurship homework emphasizes the collaborative nature of idea refinement, preparing students for the collaborative dynamics they may encounter in their future entrepreneurial ventures and in the professional world at large.

A. Connecting Entrepreneurship Homework to Actual Ventures

Connecting entrepreneurship homework to actual ventures is a pivotal step in realizing the practical application of academic learning. The bridge between theory and real-world application is fortified when students understand how the concepts explored in their assignments directly relate to actual entrepreneurial endeavors. This connection not only enhances the relevance of entrepreneurship homework but also encourages students to envision how their theoretical knowledge can be translated into tangible business strategies.

By drawing parallels between their academic exercises and real-world scenarios, students gain a deeper appreciation for the practical implications of their studies. This real-world application aspect of entrepreneurship homework instills in students a sense of purpose and a clear understanding of how their academic endeavors contribute to the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the entrepreneurial landscape they may enter in the future.

B. Success Stories of Students Turned Entrepreneurs

Highlighting success stories of students turned entrepreneurs serves as a compelling illustration of the real-world application of entrepreneurship homework. These stories not only inspire but also provide tangible evidence of the impact that entrepreneurial education can have on shaping the future. By showcasing individuals who have translated their academic insights into successful ventures, students gain a concrete understanding of the possibilities that lie beyond the classroom.

Examining the journeys of these student-turned-entrepreneurs not only reinforces the relevance of entrepreneurship homework but also offers valuable insights into the practical challenges and triumphs that characterize the entrepreneurial path. It serves as a motivational tool, encouraging current students to envision their own potential contributions to the business world and fostering a sense of confidence and ambition as they navigate their entrepreneurial journeys.

The relative frequency shows the proportion of data points that have each value. The frequency tells the number of data points that have each value.

Answers will vary. One possible histogram is shown:

Find the midpoint for each class. These will be graphed on the x -axis. The frequency values will be graphed on the y -axis values.

  • The 40 th percentile is 37 years.
  • The 78 th percentile is 70 years.

Jesse graduated 37 th out of a class of 180 students. There are 180 – 37 = 143 students ranked below Jesse. There is one rank of 37.

x = 143 and y = 1. x + 0.5 y n x + 0.5 y n (100) = 143 + 0.5 ( 1 ) 180 143 + 0.5 ( 1 ) 180 (100) = 79.72. Jesse’s rank of 37 puts him at the 80 th percentile.

  • For runners in a race it is more desirable to have a high percentile for speed. A high percentile means a higher speed which is faster.
  • 40% of runners ran at speeds of 7.5 miles per hour or less (slower). 60% of runners ran at speeds of 7.5 miles per hour or more (faster).

When waiting in line at the DMV, the 85 th percentile would be a long wait time compared to the other people waiting. 85% of people had shorter wait times than Mina. In this context, Mina would prefer a wait time corresponding to a lower percentile. 85% of people at the DMV waited 32 minutes or less. 15% of people at the DMV waited 32 minutes or longer.

The manufacturer and the consumer would be upset. This is a large repair cost for the damages, compared to the other cars in the sample. INTERPRETATION: 90% of the crash tested cars had damage repair costs of $1700 or less; only 10% had damage repair costs of $1700 or more.

You can afford 34% of houses. 66% of the houses are too expensive for your budget. INTERPRETATION: 34% of houses cost $240,000 or less. 66% of houses cost $240,000 or more.

Mean: 16 + 17 + 19 + 20 + 20 + 21 + 23 + 24 + 25 + 25 + 25 + 26 + 26 + 27 + 27 + 27 + 28 + 29 + 30 + 32 + 33 + 33 + 34 + 35 + 37 + 39 + 40 = 738;

738 27 738 27 = 27.33

The most frequent lengths are 25 and 27, which occur three times. Mode = 25, 27

15.98 ounces

2.01 inches

The data are symmetrical. The median is 3 and the mean is 2.85. They are close, and the mode lies close to the middle of the data, so the data are symmetrical.

The data are skewed right. The median is 87.5 and the mean is 88.2. Even though they are close, the mode lies to the left of the middle of the data, and there are many more instances of 87 than any other number, so the data are skewed right.

When the data are symmetrical, the mean and median are close or the same.

The distribution is skewed right because it looks pulled out to the right.

The mean is 4.1 and is slightly greater than the median, which is four.

The mode and the median are the same. In this case, they are both five.

The distribution is skewed left because it looks pulled out to the left.

The mean and the median are both six.

The mode is 12, the median is 12.5, and the mean is 15.1. The mean is the largest.

The mean tends to reflect skewing the most because it is affected the most by outliers.

For Fredo: z = 0.158  –  0.166 0.012 0.158  –  0.166 0.012 = –0.67

For Karl: z = 0.177  –  0.189 0.015 0.177  –  0.189 0.015 = –0.8

Fredo’s z -score of –0.67 is higher than Karl’s z -score of –0.8. For batting average, higher values are better, so Fredo has a better batting average compared to his team.

  • Both graphs have a single peak.
  • Both graphs use class intervals with width equal to $50.
  • The couples graph has a class interval with no values.
  • It takes almost twice as many class intervals to display the data for couples.
  • Answers may vary. Possible answers include: The graphs are more similar than different because the overall patterns for the graphs are the same.
  • Check student's solution.
  • Both graphs display 6 class intervals.
  • Both graphs show the same general pattern.
  • Answers may vary. Possible answers include: Although the width of the class intervals for couples is double that of the class intervals for singles, the graphs are more similar than they are different.
  • Answers may vary. Possible answers include: You are able to compare the graphs interval by interval. It is easier to compare the overall patterns with the new scale on the Couples graph. Because a couple represents two individuals, the new scale leads to a more accurate comparison.
  • Answers may vary. Possible answers include: Based on the histograms, it seems that spending does not vary much from singles to individuals who are part of a couple. The overall patterns are the same. The range of spending for couples is approximately double the range for individuals.

Answers will vary.

Hint: Think about the number of years covered by each time period and what happened to higher education during those periods.

For pianos, the cost of the piano is 0.4 standard deviations BELOW the mean. For guitars, the cost of the guitar is 0.25 standard deviations ABOVE the mean. For drums, the cost of the drum set is 1.0 standard deviations BELOW the mean. Of the three, the drums cost the lowest in comparison to the cost of other instruments of the same type. The guitar costs the most in comparison to the cost of other instruments of the same type.

  • x – = 23.32 x – = 23.32
  • Using the TI 83/84, we obtain a standard deviation of: s x = 12.95. s x = 12.95.
  • The obesity rate of the United States is 10.58% higher than the average obesity rate.
  • Since the standard deviation is 12.95, we see that 23.32 + 12.95 = 36.27 is the obesity percentage that is one standard deviation from the mean. The United States obesity rate is slightly less than one standard deviation from the mean. Therefore, we can assume that the United States, while 34% obese, does not hav e an unusually high percentage of obese people.

Listen: we know homework isn’t fun, but it is a good way to reinforce the ideas and concepts you’ve learned in class. But what if you’re really struggling with your homework assignments?

If you’ve looked online for a little extra help with your take-home assignments, you’ve probably stumbled across websites claiming to provide the homework help and answers students need to succeed . But can homework help sites really make a difference? And if so, which are the best homework help websites you can use?

  • The five best homework websites out there
  • The pros and cons of using these websites for homework help

The Basics About Homework Help Websites–Free and Paid

Homework help websites are designed to help you complete your homework assignments, plain and simple.

What Makes a Homework Help Site Worth Using

Most of the best sites allow users to ask questions and then provide an answer (or multiple possible answers) and explanation in seconds. In some instances, you can even send a photo of a particular assignment or problem instead of typing the whole thing out!

Homework help sites also offer more than just help answering homework questions. Common services provided are Q&A with experts, educational videos, lectures, practice tests and quizzes, learning modules, math solving tools, and proofreading help. Homework help sites can also provide textbook solutions (i.e. answers to problems in tons of different textbooks your school might be using), one-on-one tutoring, and peer-to-peer platforms that allow you to discuss subjects you’re learning about with your fellow students.

And best of all, nearly all of them offer their services 24/7, including tutoring!

What You Should Should Look Out For

When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of scam sites out there willing to prey on desperate students. Before you sign up for any service, make sure you read reviews to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.

A word to the wise: the more a company advertises help that veers into the territory of cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. The best homework help websites are going to help you learn the concepts you’ll need to successfully complete your homework on your own. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” a little later!)

body-gold-piggy-bank-money

You don't need a golden piggy bank to use homework help websites. Some provide low or no cost help for students like you!

How Expensive Are the Best Homework Help Websites?

First of all, just because a homework help site costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. Likewise, just because a homework help website is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best websites, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!

When it comes to paid homework help services, the prices vary pretty widely depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to $150 dollars per month, with the most expensive services offering several hours of one-on-one tutoring with a subject expert per month.

The 5 Best Homework Help Websites

So, what is the best homework help website you can use? The answer is that it depends on what you need help with.

The best homework help websites are the ones that are reliable and help you learn the material. They don’t just provide answers to homework questions–they actually help you learn the material.

That’s why we’ve broken down our favorite websites into categories based on who they’re best for . For instance, the best website for people struggling with math might not work for someone who needs a little extra help with science, and vice versa.

Keep reading to find the best homework help website for you!

Best Free Homework Help Site: Khan Academy

  • Price: Free!
  • Best for: Practicing tough material

Not only is Khan Academy free, but it’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your needs. When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads.

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

  • Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
  • Best for: 24/7 homework assistance

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school.

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects.

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

body-photomath-logo-2

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

  • Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services)

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them.

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers.

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

  • Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help.

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter!

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

  • Best for: Science homework help
  • Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

We’ll go over the good–and the not-so-good–aspects of getting online homework help below.

3 Pros of Using Homework Help Websites

First, let’s take a look at the benefits.

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays.

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college.

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Instead, you can access helpful resources wherever you can access the internet, whenever you need them.

This is especially true if you tend to study at off hours because of your extracurriculars, work schedule, or family obligations. Sites that offer 24/7 tutoring can give you the extra help you need if you can’t access the free resources that are available at your school.

#3: Variety

Not everyone learns the same way. Maybe you’re more of a visual learner, but your teacher mostly does lectures. Or maybe you learn best by listening and taking notes, but you’re expected to learn something just from reading the textbook .

One of the best things about online homework help is that it comes in a variety of forms. The best homework help sites offer resources for all types of learners, including videos, practice activities, and even one-on-one discussions with real-life experts.

This variety can also be a good thing if you just don’t really resonate with the way a concept is being explained (looking at you, math textbooks!).

Not so fast. There are cons to homework help websites, too. Get to know them below!

3 Cons of Using Homework Help Websites

Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help.

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option.

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up.

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service!

body-cheat-cheating-cc0

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get.

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating.

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help Websites for You

Now that you know some of our favorite homework help websites, free and paid, you can start doing some additional research on your own to decide which services might work best for you! Here are some top tips for choosing a homework help website.

Tip 1: Decide How You Learn Best

Before you decide which site or sites you’re going to use for homework help, y ou should figure out what kind of learning style works for you the most. Are you a visual learner? Then choose a site that uses lots of videos to help explain concepts. If you know you learn best by actually doing tasks, choose a site that provides lots of practice exercises.

Tip 2: Determine Which Subjects You Need Help With

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. But if history is where you’re struggling, a site that specializes in math won’t be much help. So make sure to choose a site that you know provides high-quality help in the areas you need it most.

Tip 3: Decide How Much One-On-One Help You Need

This is really about cost-effectiveness. If you learn well on your own by reading and watching videos, a free site like Khan Academy is a good choice. But if you need actual tutoring, or to be able to ask questions and get personalized answers from experts, a paid site that provides that kind of service may be a better option.

Tip 4: Set a Budget

If you decide you want to go with a paid homework help website, set a budget first . The prices for sites vary wildly, and the cost to use them can add up quick.

Tip 5: Read the Reviews

Finally, it’s always a good idea to read actual reviews written by the people using these homework sites. You’ll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of what the users’ experiences have been. This is especially true if you intend to subscribe to a paid service. You’ll want to make sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!

Watch the 6 most impressive demos from OpenAI's big GPT-4o reveal

  • OpenAI announced a new AI model, GPT-4o, on Monday.
  • It can do things like translate in real time, make sense of your physical surroundings, and even sing (kind of).
  • Here's a look at some of the wildest things it can do.

Insider Today

OpenAI revealed its latest flagship AI model on Monday, GPT-4o, and showed off what ChatGPT can do when powered by it.

The new AI model, with an "o" standing for omni, can handle a combination of text, audio, and images as either inputs to respond to or outputs it can generate.

But seeing is believing in this case, and thankfully OpenAI did some live onstage demos — with even more examples published on social media.

Here are some of the most impressive demos we've seen so far.

It has more fluid, natural conversations.

Live demo of GPT-4o realtime conversational speech pic.twitter.com/FON78LxAPL — OpenAI (@OpenAI) May 13, 2024

GPT-4o sounds noticeably more conversational , even throwing in a few jokes here and there (and yes, it sounds a bit like "Her" star Scarlett Johansson). It doesn't sound as monotonous as we've come to expect of AI voices; you hear some tonal variation, and even some chuckles in its voice, more in line with what you'd expect talking with another person .

It can perceive your surroundings and draw conclusions accordingly.

@BeMyEyes with GPT-4o pic.twitter.com/nWb6sEWZlo — OpenAI (@OpenAI) May 13, 2024

As in the studio space in the other demos, GPT-4o can also see what's around you in the real world thanks to your phone cameras. In this clip, for example, it helps a visually impaired man hail a taxi by telling him one is approaching and when to wave it down.

It can translate speech in real-time.

Realtime translation with GPT-4o pic.twitter.com/J1BsrxwYdE — OpenAI (@OpenAI) May 13, 2024

GPT-4o goes back and forth translating between English and Spanish in real time in this conversation. In another clip OpenAI posted, GPT-4o provided the names, in Spanish, of various objects it was shown in real time.

It's your meeting sidekick and notetaker.

Meeting AI with GPT-4o pic.twitter.com/rHkQ316MYj — OpenAI (@OpenAI) May 13, 2024

GPT-4o can attend meetings with you, respond in real time to what colleagues have said, and recap key points at the end. OpenAI showed off its other capabilities in the workplace too . In one demo, GPT-4o was shown code on a screen and suggested changes; in another clip, it summarized a line graph that an OpenAI employee pulled up on his desktop.

It can be your math tutor.

Math problems with GPT-4o and @khanacademy pic.twitter.com/RfKaYx5pTJ — OpenAI (@OpenAI) May 13, 2024

GPT-4o can recognize what you're writing as you're working on a math problem and respond accordingly, walking you through individual steps to help you solve it.

It sings (albeit a bit shakily).

Two GPT-4os interacting and singing pic.twitter.com/u9VuZoroxm — OpenAI (@OpenAI) May 13, 2024

GPT-4o made and sang a song based on its environment in this clip, alternating lines with another AI throughout the tune. In other demos OpenAI posted, GPT-4o also sang "Happy Birthday" and a song it created about the prompt "majestic potatoes."

Axel Springer, Business Insider's parent company, has a global deal to allow OpenAI to train its models on its media brands' reporting.

business homework

My son hates doing homework, and I struggle to help him. Education experts say I need to give him more freedom so he can excel.

  • My son doesn't like to do homework after a long day of school.
  • I also get worried about helping him because I learned to do the work a different way years ago.

We're more than three months into the school year, and even though we have our school-year routines established, there's still one contentious spot in my household: homework. My son is in fourth grade; he's been doing homework since he was in kindergarten and we still argue about it.

I guarantee that at least one or two nights a week, he'll give me a hard time about doing homework . He needs a break when he gets home from school, so he doesn't immediately get to work — but without fail, he will grumble about it at 7 p.m. even though he does his homework at the same time every school night.

To make homework time easier for both of us, I sought expert advice.

I've always had a complicated relationship with homework

When I was a kid, homework felt like such a chore, especially in subjects where I didn't feel as academically confident — such as math or science . I'd get home from a full day of learning, and then my parents expected me to sit at the kitchen table and work for two or more hours on the same work I'd been doing all day. If it was a subject I'd mastered, homework felt like a waste of time. But if it was a subject I struggled with, homework felt like torture.

Now that I'm a parent, I sometimes wonder why kids even need homework in the first place. After a long day of school and after-school activities, I think my kid needs a break.

But Janine Bempechat, a clinical professor at Boston University's Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, said homework is useful for a child's education.

"Homework can be a powerful tool to reinforce learning and to provide children with all-important opportunities to practice newly acquired or acquiring skills," Bempechat told Business Insider.

Still, I struggle with how to help my son during homework time

We recently had parent-teacher conferences, and my partner and I admitted to my son's teacher that we often feel out of our depth because sometimes we teach him the way we learned math as kids, but fear that's somehow messing his education up.

As much as I fundamentally understand my child's math worskheets, all that logic goes out the window the minute he calls me over to help. I must steel my nerves, mentally putting on armor before I walk over to the kitchen table to help.

Jennifer Alfaro, a mother and the assistant principal of instruction at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy in Los Angeles, said she understands that parents get stressed and confused when trying to help.

"With Common Core, math strategies are different and so parents feel like they cannot help students because they do not want to confuse the student," Alfaro told BI.

Her words felt validating as a parent. Standards have changed since we were in school, and it's easy for even the most present parent to feel left behind by the way schools now teach the same concepts.

But I learned homework doesn't have to be stressful — for me or my kid

Bempechat stressed the importance of creating healthy habits from the beginning to give kids a routine and listening to them about where and when they feel most comfortable doing their homework.

Giving my son the freedom to choose where he does his homework has greatly improved his desire to do it. He likes to sit at a table to write, but when he's reading, sitting on the couch or in his room helps him feel more comfortable.

His school doesn't have strict rules about writing utensils for homework, so he likes to use colored pens to make it more exciting. He has a pen with multiple color inks, and he'll rotate through them during the week. It's a small win, but I'll take it!

Snacks while doing homework also make it more appealing for him. Young minds need fuel, so letting him eat a bowl of pretzels or some Doritos makes homework time go more smoothly — if he doesn't get orange dust on his worksheets.

Alfaro also gave some direct feedback for parents who may feel stressed and overwhelmed with helping our kids with homework: "Just be present for students so that they feel supported."

For those of us who struggle to keep up with the changing landscape of homework, she shared that "telling students that they might not know exactly how the teacher taught something but that they can help them" is a way to alleviate some of that stress.

Unfortunately, homework isn't going anywhere, as much as some of us wish it would. We need to look at homework as more than a necessary evil and as a way for parents to be an active part of our kid's education.
