Copperknickers

I don't know that we have any speech therapy groups in our nurseries, they are usually provided as one-to-one sessions by a speech therapist. The situation may be different in the USA. May I ask why so many children would need speech therapy? In the UK it's only really used for children with quite severe speech deficiencies, and is not hugely common. There would not usually be multiple people in a class. When you say 'speech therapy' do you literally mean teaching children how to make speech sounds, or is there also an element of teaching them how to speak the language in a 'standard' way?

Copperknickers , I wouldn't describe those problems as "severe", mispronunciation of some of the sounds is typical for children of this age, moreover they need to be prepared for school. I guess this is the reason.
