History of Books

Books introduce us to a world of wisdom and knowledge. Nowadays knowledge can be gained from anywhere as books have gone through years of evolution. The first book that was ever printed was the Gutenberg bible, it was printed in 1455. In primitive times, men learned how to read and write, they saw the need for writing which helped them to record transactions, send messages to their loved ones who lived afar, they made certain discoveries and wrote about them on various manuscripts.

Manuscripts are the most ancient form of paper that was used to write important information, it was made of the papyrus plant. They were introduced in Egypt and many kings and queens hired writers to write about their glorious Egyptian empires and about the wars that they had won. These manuscripts also contain information about various transactions that were made in the court and this depicts their trading lifestyle, Egyptian economy and their religion, after doing analysis we can find that Egyptians were very similar to Roman beliefs. All the little information that we know today about ancient times is because of these manuscripts, they are the only source for knowing our past closely.

Then came the 1900s when people started hand stitching books, this process made the books extremely expensive to purchase. In the 1930s some publishers like the Penguin publishers started to glue their books together which helped in reducing the cost of production, which then made the books affordable for everybody.

Now as we are moving towards a digitalised era, we can now download any book that we want to read through the Internet, the books are available in PDF and other various versions, With the coming up of Kindle, people started reading books on the Kindle tablet, enabling readers to reach a wide range of genres all while sitting at the comfort of their home. Starting Early

My parents have always encouraged me to read books ever since I learnt to read. There are books to suit readers of all age groups. Also, there are books on various subjects. No matter what interests you, there is going to be a book in that subject. So, once we pick a book that interests us, we can get hours with it.

Advantages of Reading Books

And it is a fun way to explore a new world in a fun way. So learning with entertainment is a perk of reading regularly. They can be a very powerful answer to boredom. Different Types of Books

There seems to be a book for almost every subject under the sky. There are creations of literature, as well as academic books and travelogues. There are books on historical events, mythology, cookery, mechanics, astronomy, astrology, fashion, and whatnot. Though I love reading different genres of books, I have my own selection and favourites. Here's a lowdown on the different genres of books that I find interesting.

Folklore: Almost every country in the world has its bounty of rich folklore. They are evidence of the heritage of a country. Folklores are all about songs from the bygone days, ballads dedicated to the ancient kings, queens, princes and princesses, legends, myths, and traditional tales. In most cases, there is no known author of these folklores.

Fantasies: These are the fascinating takes of an imaginative world. Often, fantasies come with references to make-believe places. There are charming stories with beautiful yet imaginary countries in the background. We come across interesting characters and intriguing creatures. But none of them exist in the real world.

Science Fiction: The sci-fi tales are primarily based on real-life scientific facts and principles. Though the plots might be imaginary, the stories often have some true references to what might happen in the future.

Realistic Fiction: These are my favourite set of "what if" novels and stories. This genre comprises imaginary situations that might occur just anytime. The characters seem to be real, as well.

Biography: The themes of biographies revolve around the life of famous people. A biography comes with a person's memoirs, letters, journals, and the like.

Recording things into a book, or a document has been done throughout centuries, since humans learned how to write, and has got us where we are today. Without the knowledge to read and write, humans would have still been in their early evolutionary stages. One man learned how to write; he started recording his knowledge onto rocks, stone tablets, caves, etc., for future generations to learn from his experience. With the invention of paper, recording became more compact and more comfortable.

This led to the design of books, in which, throughout history, many famous figures have recorded their thoughts, discoveries, beliefs, state policies, stories, etc. Without historical Manuscripts, we would not have been able to know about the Ancient Greek Philosophers and their teachings, which hold relevance to this day, the Scientific innovations throughout history, how modern boundaries came to be, the fantastic world of mythology, and religion, etc.

One of the first book formats in ancient Egypt was a scroll. The scroll was a rolled manuscript made of the Papyrus plant. Since you needed two hands to use them, the scriptures were clumsy. Scrolls were made of Papyrus and were fragile. But these scrolls told us the stories of the Glorius Egyptian Empire and the various rulers. They taught us about the Egyptian economy and their religion, which was very similar to Roman beliefs.

The Romans created a codex that was bound and opened like a book with pages. The wood covers were long-lasting. The sheets were of parchment, which is a type of animal skin. The Chinese used patterns of individual letters and characters that could be arranged into words on a frame and ink, then pressed against the material to create a page of text. The molds were reused, saving time and effort. The Chinese used clay in the patterns that could break. The Koreans, on the other hand, used bronze, which was more robust. In 1377 AD, the Koreans designed a Buddhist book called the Jikji.

Although Chinese and Korean molds were a success, it wasn’t until the Gutenberg printing press that the books caught on. Before Johannes Gutenberg in 1450, only the rich could afford books. Gutenberg used his blacksmithing skills to design a steady and mechanical press, using movable molds and printing on parchment. The Gutenberg Bible was the first mass-produced book not copied by hand, increasing both its availability and its accuracy. With the invention of the printing press, literacy began to flourish, and was now, not reserved for the wealthy Nobles.

Up until the early 1900s, books were printed and hand-stitched together, which was expensive, making the books very expensive. In the 1930s, Penguin publishers began to glue their books together, which reduced the books’ production costs, making it affordable for everybody.

In today’s digital age, books are also becoming digital. One can find a digital version (PDF) of all classic and modern books that have been published. Most publishers now opt for online publication as it removes the cost of factory production of books, and this has resulted in a further decrease in the price of books. In the strange times that we live in, we should be grateful that all our academic needs can be found on the World Wide Web.

Hence, it can be said that human evolution can be measured by going through the development of the distribution of books throughout the world. Whether we admit it or not, textbooks are a significant part of our lives. Hence, books have helped us evolve as humans in a significant manner. So next time you plan to throw a book into the garbage after an exam, remember the efforts gone into it, and instead, give it to someone who might need it.

Books will always be my best friends and source of imagination and inspiration.

Writing short essays help children build the skills to write long articles on any topic. Here is an example of a short essay on books:

Books play an important role in our lives as they are the source of knowledge and information on all kinds of topics. Books, like good friends, can make you a better person by keeping you company and teaching essential lessons. Everyone should inculcate a habit of reading books to improve their reading, vocabulary, and awareness on different topics. Even if the book being read is fiction or fantasy, it is food for our imagination and language skills. Parents must encourage children to read books as reading is the most crucial skill for academic success. By cultivating a fast reading habit, they can absorb more information and become skilled readers later in life. Children should develop a habit of reading on a variety of subjects, so they have broad knowledge as they go through higher grades. Eventually, they will see that there will always be more books to read and more friends to make! Books are the kind of companions who never grow old and can guide us in life’s journey.

A long essay for class 3 can range over 300 words. Children have to maintain coherence throughout the paragraphs and employ good storytelling. Here is an example of a long essay on the importance of books in our life:

Books are more than just pages with printed text. Throughout history, books have been the record keepers of events and the repository of collective human knowledge. Without written documents or printed texts, human civilisation would not be what it is today. Great thinkers, writers and influencers have always been book readers, and they spent a significant portion of their time reading books to gather knowledge that would later help them transform the world.

Everybody has read books at some point in life, whether out of interest or for studies. Children are familiar with their academic books, and many have libraries filled with their favourite books. Reading books from a young age is crucial as it builds vocabulary and language skills. People who are good readers also become good writers, and good writing is a skill vital for academic success.

To reap the benefits of reading, children should pick a wide range of topics from literature to science and history. Reading books on fiction and fantasy is equally vital as it stimulates the imagination and builds vocabulary. Books on philosophy are excellent sources of material on spiritual and philosophical ideas. They should also become part of our reading list, so we have a good understanding of ourselves and the higher purpose in life.

Considering the benefits books have to offer us, it won’t be wrong to call them our best friends as they will remain by us throughout our lives. As we develop the habit of reading more and more books, we will realise that we also see each book has a character of its own which influences our personality. Only books can take us on many different journeys that are impossible to experience in one single life.

Why Are Books Important?

Books are important because different genres of books contain information about various subjects. We can learn about history, philosophy, values, and science by reading books. A habit of reading builds our knowledge and contributes to intelligence. For many people, reading books is a stress relief exercise and an escape to a different world they can enjoy. For kids, books build language skills and imagination.

What Are The Different Genres Of Books?

Books come in different genres such as travel, philosophy, science, fashion, technology, self-help, motivation, and many more. Each genre has specific information about its subjects and topics.

What Type Of Books Should Children Read?

Children should read fiction, fantasy, science, and history from their usual academic books to learn about different things. The more genre of books their read, the wider their knowledge will be. Reading more also builds language skills and develops their vocabulary.

The essays above are short and long-form essays on the topic of books. Their purpose is to give them an idea about how they can frame their own essays on the subject and gather points they can use in their write-ups.

As we have seen from the examples above, books are long-term friends we need in our lives, and the more we have, the merrier. Although electronic media now dominates the world, books will always have an important place in our lives.

My Favourite Book Essay in English for Class 10

Here is an essay on My Favourite Book for Class 10 Students in English. This My Favourite Book Essay is about the Book of Allama Iqbal Bang-e-Dara. This essay has been taken from Tips up-to-date papers book. Bang-e-Dara is known as “ The Call of the Marching Bell “. This is an easy essay without quotes for the students of Class 10. However, if you are students of Intermediate, you should see the Essay on My Favourite Book (Holly Quran) with Quotations .

Essay on My Favourite Book for 10th Class Students

There are hundreds of books in the market. They are written for everyone. Some books are meant for only children. While the others are for grown-ups. I read many books but I like Bang-e-Dara most of all. It is a collection of Urdu poems written by Allama Iqbal. I read many of its poems in my first reading. Many poems are interesting and well worded. The first interesting poem is about the Himalayas. This book contains beautiful and great poems. Some poems are about famous men like Ghalib, Sir Seyyid, Hazrat Bilal (God be pleased with him), Fatima bint-e-Abdullah and Sir Fazal Hussain. Some poems relate the beauties of nature. Some poems discuss the conditions of Indo-Pak. Some poems describe the miserable conditions of the Muslim and persuade them to improve their lot like ancestors. It has many long poems like Shikwa, Jawab-e-Shikwa. Khazar-e-Rah, Talu-e-Islam. These poems are full of lessons for Muslims. They remind us to love Islam and be united to safeguard their rights. Iqbal wanted Pan Islamism.

The poems persuade us to leave idle life and work in the living present to enjoy a bright future. Allama Iqbal wanted to see us free, strong and prosperous. It is indeed a great book which has lessons for children and adults alike.  I love this book and study it when I have spare time. It has fired in me a love for Islam and the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). I always keep it under my pillow to enjoy it any time. It is my favourite book which is read and loved most of all leaving alone the Holly Quran.

Essay on My Favourite Book for Students and Children

i need my monster Book

500+ Words Essay on My Favourite Book

Essay on My Favourite Book: Books are friends who never leave your side. I find this saying to be very true as books have always been there for me. I enjoy reading books . They have the power to help us travel through worlds without moving from our places. In addition, books also enhance our imagination. Growing up, my parents and teachers always encouraged me to read. They taught me the importance of reading. Subsequently, I have read several books. However, one boom that will always be my favourite is Harry Potter. It is one of the most intriguing reads of my life. I have read all the books of this series, yet I read them again as I never get bored of it.

essay on my favourite book

Harry Potter Series

Harry Potter was a series of books authored by one of the most eminent writers of our generation, J.K. Rowling. These books showcase the wizarding world and its workings. J.K. Rowling has been so successful at weaving a picture of this world, that it feels real. Although the series contains seven books, I have a particular favourite. My favourite book from the series is The Goblet of fire.

When I started reading the book, it caught my attention instantly. Even though I had read all the previous parts, none of the books caught my attention as this one did. It gave a larger perspective into the wizarding world. One of the things which excite me the most about this book is the introduction of the other wizard schools. The concept of the Tri-wizard tournament is one of the most brilliant pieces I have come across in the Harry Potter series.

In addition, this book also contains some of my favourite characters. The moment I read about Victor Krum’s entry, I was star struck. The aura and personality of that character described by Rowling are simply brilliant. Further, it made me become a greater fan of the series.

Get the huge list of more than 500 Essay Topics and Ideas

What Harry Potter Series Taught Me?

Even though the books are about the world of wizards and magic, the Harry Potter series contains a lot of lessons for young people to learn. Firstly, it teaches us the importance of friendship. I have read many books but never come across a friendship like that of Harry, Hermoine, and Ron. These three musketeers stuck together throughout the books and never gave up. It taught me the value of a good friend.

Further, the series of Harry Potter taught me that no one is perfect. Everyone has good and evil inside them. We are the ones who choose what we wish to be. This helped me in making better choices and becoming a better human being. We see how the most flawed characters like Snape had goodness inside them. Similarly, how the nicest ones like Dumbledore had some bad traits. This changed my perspective towards people and made me more considerate.

Finally, these books gave me hope. They taught me the meaning of hope and how there is light at the end of the tunnel. It gave me the strength to cling on to hope in the most desperate times just like Harry did all his life. These are some of the most essential things I learned from Harry Potter.

In conclusion, while there were many movies made in the books. Nothing beats the essence and originality of the books. The details and inclusiveness of books cannot be replaced by any form of media. Therefore, the Goblet of Fire remains to be my favourite book.

In this paper, a novel observer-based robust preview tracking controller design method is proposed for a class of continuous-time Lipschitz nonlinear systems with external disturbances and unknown states. First, a state observer is designed to reconstruct unknown system states. Second, using differentiation, the state lifting technique, the differential mean value theorem, and several ingenious mathematical manipulations, an augmented error system (AES) containing the previewable information of a reference signal is constructed, thereby transforming the tracking control problem into a robust $ H_{\infty} $ control problem. Based on linear parameter-varying (LPV) system theory, a sufficient condition for asymptotic stability of a closed-loop system with a robust $ H_{\infty} $ performance level is established in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI). Furthermore, a tracking controller, which includes observer-based feedback control, integral control, and preview feedforward compensation, is established for the original system. In particular, the tracking controller design is simplified by computing the observer and tracking controller gains simultaneously via only a one-step LMI algorithm. Finally, numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed controller leads to superior improvement in the output tracking performance compared with the existing methods.
