If your presentation is for work or large groups, inclusivity is essential. That means considering that not everyone celebrates the same holidays that you do.

The holidays are a fantastic time to build relationships with co-workers and colleagues. And when you show that you're considering their holiday too, they're sure to appreciate it.

With a bit of work, you can easily include all the holidays in your presentation.

Here are some design trends for PowerPoint presentations:

1. Minimalism

A lot of Images

The trend is to have more images than text on your Christmas slide template. Images are a great way to connect with your audience.

But you don’t want to use too many images. Images can help your audience quickly understand what you’re talking about. Visuals are more likely to draw out the emotion in people than words are.

4. Icons and Graphs

When you use a graph on your Christmas slide template, you'll  present data in a way that's easy to understand. Graphs are more interesting than a list of numbers.

Icons can also help you get your message across without using tons of words. Many Christmas PowerPoint templates come with icons or graphs. You can move them onto the slide of your choice.

5. Infographics

Infographics

Infographics combine information and graphics. Infographics on your Christmas slide template can help explain information to your audience.

Christmas party & Corona: ideas for your company party in 2022

11.09.21   •  #christmas #tips.

The Christmas party is one of the most important corporate events of the year and an excellent way to show employees appreciation and gratitude. An entertaining Christmas party increases motivation and recharges employees' batteries for the next year. Especially in this extraordinary pandemic year the company party has a particularly high priority. Last year, unfortunately, many Christmas parties had to be canceled at short notice due to Corona regulations or had to be changed into a virtual event. Due to the current increase in infections, the situation is also uncertain for Christmas 2021. To find out how to be prepared for all unpredictable cases this year and how your Christmas party can take place with certainty, read this article. We've got a solution for every case - whether remote, hybrid or completely normal in person. This way, your Christmas party can also be held in a Corona-compliant manner.

A Christmas party should be fun and promote team spirit - in times of home offices this is more important than ever. ever. To lighten the mood, games are suitable for both large and small groups. A popular classic at Christmas is Secret Santa. Each employee buys a small gift for another employee he or she has drawn in a raffle. This way, no one goes home without a gift. By the way: Secret Santa can can also be easily organized as a Online Christmas party, in which everyone sends their gift. Another game that guarantees a funny Christmas party is "Who am I?". Each employee thinks up a personality for a teammate and writes it down on a piece of paper. Now they have to guess the name as quickly as possible using only yes-no questions.

3. PowerPoint Karaoke

If you are looking for a fun game where your employees will practice their presentation skills at the same time, PowerPoint Karaoke is for you. PowerPoint Karaoke is a game with very simple rules: The presenter gets on stage and has to convincingly present a set of PowerPoint slides that he has never seen before. The goal is to have as much fun as possible. You can download the exact PP Karaoke rules and finished presentations for free in this article. To create even more Christmas spirit, topics around Christmas, for example, would be suitable for your company party.

4. Christmas quiz

To bring a bit of excitement and puzzle fun into a company Christmas party, a Christmas quiz is a good idea. When different teams or departments compete against each other, team spirit is awakened and a successful end to the business year is guaranteed. It gets even better when the questions revolve around Christmas. You are welcome to use the questions we have prepared for you here:

Questions for a Christmas Quiz

What is the Christmas tree's origin country?

  • The Czech Republic

Which one of the following is NOT one of Santa's reindeers?

What is often used to decorate Christmas trees in Poland?

  • spider webs
  • ripped book pages

Which one of these is the best-selling Christmas song of all time?

  • All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
  • Last Christmas - Wham!
  • Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid
  • White Christmas - Bing Crosby

A Japanese tradition is to spend Christmas eve...

  • away from your husband or wife.
  • in Irish pubs.

If you need even more questions and don't want to come up with your own, that's no problem at all. In our blog post 50 ideas for quiz questions we have listed ideas that you can easily use.

Quiz with SlideLizard

Running quizzes without participants randomly shouting out answers can be difficult, especially online. We recommend using a tool like SlideLizard: Quiz participants can log in with a QR code or a short URL in the browser on their cell phone or laptop, and vote directly from their smartphone. Your participants can collect points and the winner could get a small prize.

5. Escape Game

If you want to offer your employees an extraordinary Christmas party that strengthens the cohesion in the company, then an Escape Game is just the right thing for you. Here you have to solve puzzles as a team to escape from a room. Only by working together the way out can be discovered. There are also online Escape Rooms where employees from a wide variety of locations can participate. So you can easily hold your Christmas party online without missing out on the fun factor. We have made an overview with different Escape Game providers and their offers:

6. Company Speech followed by dinner

Use your Christmas party to say thank you and show your appreciation to your employees for the work they have done. A dinner together is a perfect way to give a motivational speech and strengthen the team spirit. At the end of your speech, for example, you could open the buffet and toast to a Merry Christmas. If you want to support your speech with PowerPoint slides Questions and ask questions to your employees, we recommend SlideLizard. With SlideLizard, your audience can use their own smartphone to answer questions and provide anonymous feedback. Learn more about interactive speeches with SlideLizard here.

7. Cooking together

A small company with its own kitchen and not too many employees can turn the Christmas party into a fun cooking evening. Instead of having to choose from a predefined menu, the wishes or allergies of individual employees can be considered. If the cooking enthusiasm in the company is not particularly high, a raclette or fondue evening provides a certain coziness.

8. Do Winter Sports together

Enjoying sports together unites employees and is good for their health at the same time. One sport that makes a great outdoor activity is curling. But also an ice hockey match at a frozen lake is also fun and brings the team together. In order to get to know each other, it is a good idea to divide the colleagues into teams that do not work together otherwise. For large companies, a whole ice hockey tournament can be organized.

Ice Hockey Tournament

With these ideas and Corona-compliant variations, you are prepared for all uncertainties and your Christmas party 2021 can be held successfully. For even more virtual Christmas party ideas check out this article.

Create a festive scorecard to keep track of points, and play until you’ve exhausted your list!

14 Unforgettable Virtual Christmas Event Ideas (2022)

christmas presentation ideas 2022

Christmas is a time of joy, happiness, and love. It brings people together which is so important now that we all have been socially distancing ourselves.

Even though that will continue for a while, there are many ways to celebrate this festive season digitally.

Christmas provides an opportunity to host virtual events that are much more informal than traditional B2B virtual events.

This is the time, for us marketers, to be as creative as possible. Let’s all try to bring some extra joy this year to the people we work with directly and indirectly.

B2B marketing is all about building relationships. As a marketer, this is the moment for you to do something different and provide your sales team with a fantastic relationship-building opportunity.

I’ve created a list of virtual Christmas events for this festive season to get you started. However, I’d love to hear all about your creative Christmas ideas!

1. Gifts & Networking

Christmas is a time of giving without expecting anything in return. How often does it happen that as soon as your sales close a customer, they move on to other prospects?

Well, a great virtual Christmas event would be to invite your customers and send them all a small gift. Throughout the event, people will open their gifts in front of the camera and of course, this is a great networking opportunity.

Don’t worry about creating a slide deck for an event like this. It’s supposed to be informal and people just want to feel appreciated!

For events like this, it’s a good idea to invite your prospects as well. They can virtually mingle with your customers and hopefully, they will build relationships!

Keep in mind that a lot of public companies can’t accept gifts that exceed a certain amount of money. It’s usually the thought that counts so don’t go overboard and spend your entire marketing budget on this.

2. Holidays in a glass - Mulled Wine tasting

One of my favorite things about Christmas is visiting the Christmas markets throughout Europe. They have some amazing ones in Germany and my girlfriend and I love tasting all the hot mulled wines they sell in the little stalls.

In Germany, they call this Glühwein. It’s delicious, especially on those cold winter days.

Just like normal wine, you have loads of variations. You know what that means!

A mulled wine tasting session! Your audience will love this.

During your virtual Christmas event, invite a mulled wine export who can explain a bit about the history and how it's made.

During the event, you can have your audience taste some variations of mulled wine. They usually come in small bottles. Make sure to send them a big bottle too though! They will love drinking some after the session.

Most of these bottles are brandable so it’s a great opportunity to create some extra brand awareness.

3. Christmas cooking - learn from a chef

How can you make mulled wine even better? Well, with delicious Christmas food of course!

One of the best things about Christmas is sitting down with your family and enjoying some amazing food.

This is the time of the year that most people go that extra mile. They all want to impress their family!

I’m sure that your audience would love to learn some recipes from a chef that they can cook during Christmas!

So, an amazing virtual Christmas event is hiring a chef that will teach your audience some delicious festive recipes.

Of course, it’s a bit chaotic if everyone will start cooking at the same time, but you can send them all the ingredients they need to cook the meal after the event.

The chef will walk them through the steps you need to take to perfect that Christmas meal. You will send the audience the recipe and ingredients. Always brand the recipe paper because I’m sure it will be used a lot!

4. Festive Cocktail Party

Everyone loves a good cocktail, whether it’s alcoholic or non-alcoholic. It’s an amazing skill to learn and you can impress your guests at any time!

Of course, festive cocktails are just that little bit better.

So, a great virtual Christmas event is to send your audience a cocktail mixing set and then have a professional mixologist show you how it’s done.

This is a great opportunity for your sales team to build relationships with your prospects and customers. It’s something unique and everyone is actively involved.

Don’t host this session in the morning though! People still need to work!

5. Getting in the mood - Christmas Props

It’s December, what do you do? You’re getting in the mood for Christmas by blasting some Christmas songs through your speakers.

That’s not the only way to get in the mood for Christmas.

This virtual Christmas event can be of any theme. It can be a virtual roundtable session or any other type of event.

The only difference is that you send a lovely box of props to your audience which they will wear during the event.

The most obvious one is sending them a Santa hat, but there are more things that you can send such as:

  • Christmas glasses;
  • Christmas earrings;
  • Headband sets.

Keep things light-weight and it will definitely break the ice of the event! If you are looking for some alternative virtual event icebreakers, then have a look here .

6. Hot chocolate tasting

On those cold winter days, it’s just lovely to drink a nice cup of hot chocolate!

There are some workshops available where you can send a box of chocolates to your audience. During the virtual Christmas event, you will try these chocolates.

The best thing? You can use these chocolates to create hot chocolate. Simply warm up some milk, put the chocolate in and stir.

Of course, you will invite a professional chocolatier for this event who will explain to you where the chocolate came from and how the beans are harvested. Typically, with these types of virtual events, they will ship their best-selling chocolates to your audience.

christmas presentation ideas 2022

7. Secret Santa

Secret Santa! A game where you buy a gift for a randomly assigned person.

Of course, this is harder to arrange when hosting B2B virtual Christmas events. However, there are some creative alternatives to still realize this.

For example, you will buy all the gifts, but your audience gets to choose from your pre-defined selection. After your audience made their decision, you will ship the gift to the other person.

During the virtual event, you will open the packages and I guarantee you that it will put a smile on the face of everyone. Mission accomplished!

Again, you can combine this with virtual events such as round tables . Take into consideration that you will need quite a bit of lead time to pull this off successfully.

First, you need to get all the registrations in, then people need to pick a gift. Finally, you need to ship the items so they arrive before your event date.

8. Marshmallow Roasting

We all sat around a bonfire roasting some marshmallows. Absolutely delicious!

What do you do when roasting marshmallows? Well, you tell stories to your friends and family.

You guessed it. This is a great activity during virtual networking events. When you are networking, people can roast marshmallows in front of their computers.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be very responsible to ask your audience to light a bonfire in their house. So, alternatively, you can use a small candle and that will do the trick!

There are some fantastic marshmallows roasting kits out there for virtual events.

9. Virtual Craft Workshops and Master Classes

People get creative during Christmas! All sorts of beautiful decorations come out of the closets.

Moreover, people create things themselves and this is where craft workshops come into play for your next virtual Christmas events.

Your audience would participate in some fun and engaging festive workshops. Naturally, they will be guided by talented florists, mixologists, chefs, and other professionals.

The point of this event is to really have a low-key event with your customers and prospects. It’s great for networking and a fun experience to end the business year. Moreover, during Christmas, they can teach their family how to do it.

christmas presentation ideas 2022

10. Candlemaking

We end the list of virtual Christmas events with some fire! There are some great candle making kits on the market. The benefit is that these are brandable so you’ll be sure to leave a lasting impression.

Again, this can be integrated into any virtual event that you might host. Whether the events are small or large.

For large events, you can even implement a social competition. Your audience will post some pictures of their candles on social media. The candle with the most likes will win a small prize. You will get some great social media exposure on the back of this.

After the event, I’m sure that your audience will show off their creation to their family and you will be top-of-mind!

christmas presentation ideas 2022

You can also consider sending your audience virtual event gift bags, but that’s a whole other story. I’ve written a guide to virtual event gift bags here .

11. Virtual Holiday Fitness Class

One of our favorite indulgences during the holiday season is enjoying delicious Christmas treats. We’re talking about roast beef, pumpkin pie, and shortbread cookies, then finishing off with generously spiked eggnog. Unfortunately, this splurge often makes us gain more weight than we are comfortable admitting.

Why not host a virtual holiday fitness class to drop all these Christmas calories?

An online fitness class is perfect for burning off the gift of excess calories. Moreover, your audience will love to learn an easy and quick workout routine.

But first, send a basic workout kit to your audience. It should have:

  • Exercise ball

Hire a fitness trainer to teach how to keep their weight under control while splurging on Christmas treats. The fitness trainer may also give your audience tips about keeping fit while working 9 to 5 job hours.

The virtual holiday workout class is perfect for promoting bonding between teammates. You can also start a fitness challenge to create a healthy competitive environment. So, everyone makes a collective effort to lose those extra pounds.

christmas presentation ideas 2022

12. Virtual Christmas Movie Trivia

Christmas is the perfect time to test your knowledge of Christmas classics along with your friends and loved ones. Besides, Christmas trivia is sure to bring out everyone’s competitive streak.

You can create an online Christmas trivia or hire a game master to host the game. Play as many rounds as you want. As the difficulty increases with levels, everyone will be on their toes to score the highest points. The trivia questions can be about:

  • Christmas movie characters
  • Guess the movie from a scene
  • Complete famous Christmas movie dialogues

And the ideas are endless. But you can also create a poll and ask your audience which Christmas trivia they will enjoy the most.

christmas presentation ideas 2022

13. Virtual Karaoke Night

No party is complete without a sing-along. So, why not turn your virtual Christmas office party into a karaoke night? Moreover, nobody will be able to hold themselves back after enjoying the mulled wine tasting. So, a drunken karaoke night is perfect for leaving the tough working persona behind and encouraging mingling among coworkers.

Hosting a virtual Christmas event such as a karaoke night is pretty easy. You can find tons of karaoke apps for your phone at the app store. Hook it up with a mic, connect it to a screen, and you are good to go.

Hype up your audience and play a karaoke version of the song you want to sing. Just don’t become a mic hogger. Also, don’t forget to host karaoke night on the weekend. You don’t want anyone to sleep their way through work in the morning.

christmas presentation ideas 2022

14. Virtual Costume Christmas Party

Remember how much fun it is to dress up on Halloween? So why not have a little dress-up fun at your virtual Christmas party?

Invite your colleagues to join the virtual party dressed up as their favorite Christmas character. Then, you can compare how many Grinches, nutcrackers, or candy canes are present at the party.

You can also spice up your virtual Christmas costume party with role-playing.

Tell everyone they have to act like their characters, then enjoy seeing everyone come out of their shell.

Think of Your Presentation Like a Christmas Tree

Posted by Kristin Arnold on June 7, 2012

It’s June and  I’ve been thinking about Christmas lately.  You see, I always think about Christmas -specifically Christmas Trees – when I am preparing for a presentation.

While I know many folks who start with the PowerPoint, I don’t even think about slides or other visuals until the end – once I have put together my Christmas tree!

Once I know what the topic is, who I am speaking to, and how long I have, I sit down with pen and paper.  There’s something to the physicality of writing down your thoughts that make your ideas come to light.

What do I write down?  Think of the tree trunk as the topic.  From the tree trunk, sprout a few branches which become the key points you will make.  Be careful here!  Figure out what they want to get out of your speech by researching the company, calling a few participants, and talking to your “sponsor” (the person who asked you to give the speech in the first place).  Find out their hopes, fears, and interests.  Take the time to understand the people, their backgrounds, and the collective culture – often called the “personality” of the group – so you can connect your comments with what they care about.

These branches become your subpoints.  You might have an itty bitty little tree for a very short speech, or a massive Rockefeller Center Tree – they all start with the same type of structure: a tree trunk with a few or bunches of branches.  But it doesn’t stop there!  You bring life to the tree with the ornaments you lovingly place on those branches.

What’s an ornament?  It’s anything you use to illuminate and clarify your point.  Engaging, personal stories are always crowd-pleasing favorite.  But don’t stop there!  You can use a definition, quotation, testimonial, examples, illustrations, case studies, comparisons, analogies (like a Christmas Tree!), allusions, facts, and statistics.  Don’t forget to make them relevant and interesting to the audience.

Another type of ornament are those things you do to involve and interact with the audience. Asking one of them (or all of them) to do something, challenging them with a question, creating a demonstration, skit or role play, game, puzzle, or competition.   Especially if you are giving your presentation in the doldrums right after lunch, or they have been sitting for a long period of time, you’ll want to hang some kind of energizing activity on your tree.

Trimming the Christmas Tree is definitely not a once and done activity!  Many of these ornaments will come quickly to mind because you are an expert in the topic and/or you have given some semblance of the speech once or twice before either formally or informally talking to your colleagues.  Others might need some careful introspection, so I’ll carry my notes around with me for a while as the ideas percolate and then simmer.  As the ideas simmer around your core topic, you’ll start refine the structure and flow of the presentation, making it tighter and even more relevant to your audience. You’ll find yourself “speaking” bits and pieces – to yourself while walking or driving or even to your partner and friends as you try out your stories and activities.  I have a dear friend who is also a professional speaker, and he is always trying out new material on me and gauging my reaction to what he said!

At this point, I’m finally ready to sit down with PowerPoint – if I use PowerPoint at all.  A few years ago, I gave a speech and realized there was only ONE slide I absolutely needed to have. It was a 2×2 matrix explaining a specific concept.  Using one slide during the entire speech?  Awkward!  So I got creative and became a “human 2×2 matrix” – while asking the group to write down the elements of the matrix.  Worked beautifully.  But then again, I had to practice how to do this since the audience sees a mirrored reflection of what you would normally do!

Continue to practice your speech, noting where you can condense and combine your thoughts.  Make it supremely relevant for your audience. And while doing so, you’ll be able to prune your tree easily at a moments notice (your time just got cut from 1 hour to 45 minutes – yikes!) and still stay focused and on track.

Build your Christmas Tree based on the topic and what the audience needs to hear rather than letting your slides drive the topic.

Famiy enjoying a virtual christmas party together

Sure, a global pandemic may be at fault for changing tradition, but we've already shown we can deal with it. Let's go again.

If you've got a positive attitude and the right enthusiasm for throwing a virtual Christmas party this year, here are 4 reasons why you should:

  • Great for remote connection - Chances are that at least one of your party guests wouldn't have been able to make it to a live party anyway. Virtual Christmas parties keep family and work ties solid, no matter how far away the guests are.
  • So many ideas - The possibilities for a virtual Christmas party are virtually endless. You can adapt any of the ideas below to suit your guests and keep the festive cheer flowing throughout.
  • Super flexible - Not needing to travel anywhere means that you can knock out parties with your family, friends and colleagues all in the same day! If that's too much, and if you're not relying on transport, you're able to change the dates at the drop of a hat.
  • Great practice for the future - You may have already experienced a virtual Christmas party last year; who's to say how many more we'll have? As more workplace staff go remote, and with us all now acutely more aware of the threat of pandemics, the reality is that these types of online festivities may carry on. Better prepare for it!

Here we go then; 11 free virtual Christmas party ideas suitable for a family, friend or remote office Christmas!

Idea #1 - Christmas Ice Breakers

What better time of the year can there be to break the ice? This is especially true when it comes to a virtual Christmas party, where newcomers might be a bit overwhelmed with what's going on.

Fluid conversation might be hard to come by before the booze starts flowing. So, break opening a few festive ice breakers might get your party off to a flyer.

Finish the lyric as a virtual ice breaker for a virtual Christmas party.

Here's a few ice breaking ideas for a virtual Christmas party:

  • Share a hilarious Christmas memory - Give everyone 5 minutes to think of and write down something hilarious that's happened to them during past holidays. If it's embarrassing, you can easily make it anonymous!
  • Alternative Christmas lyrics - Offer the first part of a Christmas carol lyric and get everyone to come up with a better ending. Again, the anxiety shackles are off if you make answers anonymous!
  • Which image or GIF best describes your Christmas so far? - Provide a few images and GIFs and ask your audience to vote on which one best describes their hectic holiday period.

If you're looking for more, we've got 10 great icebreaker games here ! Best for hybrid workplace parties and any of these ideas can be adapted to any virtual Christmas party with family and friends.

Idea #2 - Virtual Christmas Quiz

christmas presentation ideas 2022

Idea #3 - Christmas Karaoke

We don't have to miss out on any drunk, spirited singing this year. It's perfectly possible to do karaoke online nowadays and anyone on their 12th eggnog might be practically demanding it.

Elderly Christmas karaoke session.

It's also super easy to do...

Just create a room on Sync Video , a free, no-sign-up service that lets you precisely sync videos so that every attendant of your virtual Christmas party can watch them at the same time .

Once your room is open and you have your attendants, you can queue up a bunch of karaoke hits on YouTube and each person can belt their holiday heart out.

Idea #4 - Virtual Secret Santa

Okay, so not technically free, this one, but it can certainly be cheap !

Virtual secret Santa works the same way as it always does - just online. Pull names out of a hat and assign each name to a person attending your virtual Christmas party ( you can also do all of this online ).

Santa on a laptop at Christmas.

Delivery services naturally step up their game during Christmas. You should be able to get pretty much anything delivered to the house of whoever you were assigned.

A couple of tips....

  • Give it a theme , like 'something purple' or 'something personalised with the face of the person you got'.
  • Put a strict budget on gifts. There's usually a lot of hilarity that results from a $5 present.

Idea #5 - Spin the Wheel

Got an idea for a Christmas-themed gameshow? If it's a game worth its salt, it'll be played on an interactive spinner wheel !

Don't fret if you don't have a gameshow to pitch - the AhaSlides spinner wheel can be spun for pretty much anything you can think of!

  • Trivia with Prizes - Assign each segment of the wheel an amount of money, or something else. Go round the room and challenge each player to answer a question, with the difficulty of that question depending on the amount of money the wheel lands on.
  • Christmas Truth or Dare - This one's a lot more fun when you have no control over whether you get a truth or a dare.
  • Random Letters - Choose letters at random. Could be the basis of a fun game. I dunno - use your imagination!

Idea #6 - Origami Christmas Tree + Other Crafts

There's nothing to dislike about making an adorable paper Christmas tree: no fuss, no mess and no money to spend.

Simply tell everyone to grab a sheet of A4 paper (coloured or origami paper if they have it) and follow the instructions in the video below:

Once you've got a virtual forest of multi-coloured fir trees, you can make other cute Christmas crafts and show them all off together. Here are a few ideas:

  • Hex Star (Easy)
  • Present (Medium)
  • Santa (Medium)
  • Reindeer (Challenging)

Again, you can use Sync Video to make sure everyone at your virtual Christmas party is following the steps of these videos at the same pace.

Idea #7 - Make a Christmas Present(ation)

Making a presentation with AhaSlides for a virtual Christmas party

Been quizzing since the start of lockdown began? Try mixing it up by getting your guests to make their own presentation on something unique and festive.

Before the day of your virtual Christmas party, either assign at random (maybe using this spinner wheel ) or let everyone choose a Christmas topic. Give them a set number of slides to work with and the promise of bonus points for creativity and hilarity.

When it's party time, each person presents an interesting / hilarious / wacky presentation. Optionally, get everyone to vote on their favourite and give prizes to the best!

A few Christmas present(ation) ideas...

  • The worst Christmas movie of all time.
  • Some pretty nuts Christmas traditions around the world.
  • Why Santa needs to start obeying animal protection law.
  • Have candy canes become too curvy?
  • Why Christmas should be renamed to The Festivities of Iced Sky Tears

In our opinion, the more insane the topic, the better.

Any of your guests can make a really gripping presentation for free using AhaSlides . Alternatively, they can easily make it on PowerPoint or Google Slides and embed it in AhaSlides in order to utilise live polls, quizzes and Q&A features in their creative presentations!

Idea #8 - Christmas Card Competition

Create a Christmas card online and make it a competition.

Speaking of creative virtual Christmas party ideas, this one can get some serious laughs.

Before the party, invite your guests to try and make the best/funniest Christmas card they can. It can be as elaborate or simple as they like and can include pretty much anything.

Pretty much no graphic design skills are necessary for this one as there are some great, free tools out there:

  • Canva - A tool that gives you heaps of templates, backgrounds, Christmas icons and Christmassy fonts to make a Christmas card within minutes.
  • PhotoScissors - A tool that helps you cut faces out of photos super easily and download them for use in Canva.

As you can maybe tell, we made the above image in about 3 minutes using both tools. We're sure that you and your party guests can do a better job in just as quick an amount of time!

Get your guests to present their crafted creations during your virtual Christmas party. If you want to turn up the heat, you can promise prizes for the top-voted answers.

Idea #9 - Wrapping Paper Recreations

Voting for the best wrapping paper movie creation in a virtual Christmas party using AhaSlides.

Ever watched a kid have more fun with wrapping paper or a cardbox box than with the gift contained within? Well, that kid could be you in Wrapping Paper Recreations !

In this one, each player gets given or chooses a well-known movie. They then have to recreate a famous scene from that movie using mounds of used wrapping paper from opened presents.

Recreations can be 2D artworks or 3D sculptures, but must use nothing other than wrapping paper and traditional wrapping tools (scissors, glue and tape).

Make it competitive and offer a prize to the most highly voted recreation!

Idea #10 - Christmas Cookie-off

Voting for the best emoji cookie in a virtual Christmas party using AhaSlides.

Laptops in kitchens guys; time to make some really simple Christmas cookies together!

Christmas Cookie-off is a great compromise for the fact that we're all eating socially distanced meals this year. It's a virtual Christmas party activity that challenges cooking and artistry skills in equal measure.

Most simple cookie recipes only require ingredients and equipment already in the average house. They take about 10 minutes to cook and are a wonderfully social way to stay connected during the party.

This particular recipe amplifies the fun with a simple icing design in the shape of emojis . You can get everyone to recreate their favourite emojis and have a poll for whose is the best at the end!

Idea #11 - Online Christmas Parlour Games

As Victorian Britain gave the world so many aspects of the Christmas we know today, it's only right to honour the era through Victorian-style parlour games (with a modern twist).

Parlour games have enjoyed a huge resurgence in recent years. Why? Well, many of them are easily adaptable to the confines of pretty much any online setting, including a virtual Christmas party.

Here are a few that are great for family, friends or colleagues...

  • Fictionary - Read out a strange word and get each guest to take a stab at what it means. Display all the answers in an open-ended slide and then ask everyone to vote for which answer was most likely to be correct and which answer is the funniest. Give 1 point to the highest voted in each category and another point to anyone who actually got the right answer. (See the GIF above for how to do this for free on AhaSlides).
  • Charades - Perhaps the parlour game is Charades. You know how this one works, so it should come as no surprise that it works just as well during a virtual Christmas party!
  • Pictionary - This old classic now has a modern twist. Drawful 2 lets you take pictionary online and even removes the pain of trying to think up images to draw. Simply download the game, invite everyone to your room and draw the hilariously obscure picture concepts as best you can.

Note that Drawful 2 is a paid game. Of course, you can just do regular pictionary on paper if you don't want to fork out the $5.99.

Xmas Photo Scavenger Hunts are picture-based treasure hunt activities. Players receive prompts and must capture photos of the listed items. Participants can either take new photos, or submit older photos. You can play the game live and give teams a time limit to complete the challenge. Or, to accommodate teams in different schedules and timezones, you can run the activity over the course of a week or two and ask participants to upload submissions to a shared album or social media.

3. Secret Santa

Even if you work in a hybrid office, you can enjoy this holiday workplace tradition. To host a hybrid Secret Santa exchange, first have participants sign up on a website like Elfster or Giftster . Remote recipients should input home addresses, while in-person partygoers can put the address of the office. To keep the sender a secret, gift givers can put HQ’s address as return to sender.

Be sure to set a budget for the activity. Asking participants to suggest a few presents is helpful, especially since hybrid teams may operate out of different locations and teammates may not know each other well. Finally, choose a date for the exchange, meet up on video call, and watch each other open presents.

Here is a guide to doing Secret Santa exchanges online .

4. Fully Hosted Virtual Holiday Party

5. Holiday Trivia

Winter Holiday Trivia banner

Holiday Trivia is one of the best games for hybrid holiday parties. There are many ways to structure teams, for instance, within-person groups against virtual players, splitting players into breakout rooms, or dividing the group by devices. For maximum mingling, mix up virtual and in-person participants.

Before the game starts, tell competitors to come up with festive team names like the Noel-it-alls or Santa’s Helpers. Then, ask holiday-themed questions out loud or via fillable form. Categories might include movie quotes, carols, traditions, xmas around the world, winter holidays, and winter weather. You can also make questions more secular to appeal to global or mixed groups. Feel free to add multimedia elements like pictures, music, videos, and act-it-out challenges to make the game more engaging.

Here is a collection of Christmas trivia questions .

6. Gingerbread Decorating

group standing in front of screen with gingerbread house

Gingerbread Decorating is one of the best hybrid holiday activities for teams. The hands-on nature of the event can help virtual teammates feel as included in the action as physically-present guests.

The first step of this activity is to find a gingerbread house or person decorating kit, and order the kits for attendees. Then, either meet up on a video call and decorate together, or perfect your creations off-camera and share to a collaborative photo album or a cloud drive.

For competitions, you can assign a theme like “90’s Christmas” or “horror movie holidays,” or give participants free range to use their imaginations.

Pro tip: Remember to take pictures of the finished products before taking a bite!

7. Treat Tasting

Treat Tasting is one of the most delicious ideas for hybrid Christmas team outings. First, prepare a food tasting kit for each participant. For instance cookies, chocolates, seasonal coffees, or flavored candy canes. You can also do paintings, for instance, cookies and cocoa or cookies and wine.

Be sure to mail remote attendees packages, leaving enough time for delivery before the event. Then, meet up on a video call, try the treats one by one, and share your impressions with each other. A guide can lead the tasting, or you can DIY your own experience.

8. Seasonal I Spy

Seasonal I Spy is one of the easiest hybrid holiday games. To play this challenge, teammates take turns naming off wintery objects seen on screen. To make the game fair for remote players, these items must be visible on webcam. For instance, in-person partygoers cannot pick an ice sculpture located behind the laptop. The objects should be holiday or winter related, however there is wiggle room for this requirement. For instance, a player could choose to call jewelry “ice,” or point out a red or green object.

9. Holiday Happy Hours

Holiday Happy Hours are one of the best ideas for hybrid Christmas parties. These gatherings are virtual cocktail parties where teammates can gather to share drinks and chat. For in-person attendees, bring in a bartender or mix up some Christmas-themed cocktails. Meanwhile, reimburse remote guests’ first rounds, or send kits with dry ingredients for holiday drinks.

During the event, attendees can chat and play festive games.

Check out this guide to online happy hours , and here is a list of online drinking games .

10. Never Have I Ever: Xmas Edition

Never Have I Ever is a popular icebreaker game for large groups that works well at hybrid holiday events. To play the game in a hybrid setting, ask teammates to take turns sharing Christmas never have I ever statements. Virtual players who are guilty of the deed will keep webcams on while the innocent temporarily switch webcams off. Meanwhile, in-person players will move off camera or sit down if innocent, or stay standing and stay on camera if guilty.

Here are some starter Xmas Never Have I Ever prompts:

  • Regifted a present
  • Opened a present and re-wrapped it
  • Told a child Santa was not real
  • Forgot to get a present for someone on list
  • Made a Christmas list as an adult
  • Cried as a result of opening a present
  • Proposed to someone or been proposed to at Christmas time
  • Fell while ice skating
  • Gotten drunk at a holiday party
  • Smooched someone under the mistletoe
  • Sled off the roof

Here is a list of clean Never Have I Ever Questions for work, and here are more Christmas icebreaker questions .

11. Wrap Battles

Wrap Battles are fun hybrid Christmas games. To start, at home players grab a roll of wrapping paper, scissors, and tape. In-person players name random objects, and virtual participants must grab the item and wrap it in under one minute. Then, the in-person players judge the contestants on presentation. You can use a random object generator to come up with prompts for the game.

12. Carolyoke

Carolyoke is a Christmas song version of karaoke. There are a few different ways to do the activity in hybrid settings.

  • If each group is calling in on one computer, have them each prepare a xmas carol for the group. Props and costumes are encouraged!
  • Do carolyoke roulette, and spin a wheel to choose random attendees and Christmas songs.
  • To play Finish the Lyric, pause a song and spotlight a group or individual, kiss-cam style, to keep singing.
  • Stick with the traditional method and have singers or groups pick out songs to sing and take turns.

You can turn this activity into a competition, or just sing for fun.

To launch carolyoke at hybrid holiday parties, pull up a playlist of lyric Christmas videos , and share the screen so singers can follow along with the words.

13. Merry Movie Night

Movie nights are one of the easiest hybrid Christmas activities for teams. For in-person attendees, set up a large screen and connect a laptop via HDMI hookup. You can start a Zoom call and share the screen from the presentation computer, or use an app such as Teleparty or Watch2Gether to sync video with remote participants.

Here are some festive film suggestions:

  • It’s a Wonderful Life
  • Miracle on 34th Street
  • Christmas Vacation
  • The Grinch That Stole Christmas
  • The Year Without A Santa Claus
  • A Christmas Story

The holiday movie genre is huge, and there are hundreds of options to choose from. To make the experience more interactive, encourage watchers to add commentary, or stop the film to play games like trivia or charades. Providing snacks is a nice touch, too. You can set up a snack station with holiday treats for attendees, and send remote participants boxes of goodies.

Here are more films for coworker movie nights .

14. Christmas Cards

Receiving a handwritten note feels more intimate than getting an email or printed card. One easy way to foster a sense of closeness among dispersed teams at the holidays is to encourage teammates to send each other signed cards.

To do this activity, first send around a list of participating teammates and accompanying addresses. If teammates would rather not share their addresses with coworkers, then the organizer can take on the task of collecting and sending the cards.

Participants should jot a personal note to each participant, for instance a sincere compliment, a memory, an anecdote, or the answer to an icebreaker question.

For inspiration, here is a collection of work-friendly holiday messages .

15. Seasonal Speed Dating

Season speed dating is a hybrid networking idea for the holidays. To set up this activity, arrange a series of work laptops around the in-person party room. Next, assign virtual attendees to breakout rooms. Each breakout room should have a maximum of three or four participants, to keep conversation more intimate. Physical partygoers move from laptop to laptop when a jingle bell rings, and mingle with remote teammates. Participants can ask each other holiday icebreaker questions, or just chat and enjoy each other’s company. If you have more remote participants than in-person attendees, then you can assign virtual partygoers to breakout rooms with each other as well.

16. Santa’s Spies

Santa’s Spies is a fun hybrid Christmas game that plays into the, “Santa is always watching” trope. At the start of this challenge, each player or team receives a misdeed or list of misdeeds. For example, eating chips in bed, giving “bunny ears” to a nearby companion, or imitating a colleague. The point of the game is to do the deed at some point during the call without getting noticed. If a teammate catches the person doing the act, they yell out “naughty list!” Players who pull off the bad behavior yet remain on the nice list win the game.

17. Christmas This or That

Christmas This or That is a question game that reveals personal preferences. To play this game, display a choice of two options on the screen. One word should be red, and the other green. Players can swap out virtual backgrounds, hold up signs, or put on a piece of clothing in the corresponding color to announce their choice.

Here are some Christmas-themed This or That questions:

  • Eggnog or Mulled wine?
  • Gingerbread or Sugar Cookies?
  • Xmas eve or Xmas morning?
  • Colored lights or white lights?
  • Reindeer or elves?
  • Snowmen or snow angels?
  • Gift wrap or gift bags?
  • Giving or receiving?
  • Snoop or be surprised?
  • Sweaters or Socks?
  • Handmade or store bought?
  • Finish shopping early or wait until 12/24?
  • Red or green?
  • Star tree topper or angel tree topper?

Check out this master list of This or That questions .

Final Thoughts

Entertaining hybrid teams at the holidays can be a challenge. Some event planners make the mistake of organizing fun parties for in-person guests and simply broadcasting the festivities for the virtual teammates. The best hybrid holiday events meaningfully connect virtual guests with in-person guests and involve participation for all attendees.

Christmas is a time of togetherness, and an opportunity to promote goodwill and bonding among employees. By planning fun, active, and engaging hybrid activities for holidays, you can spread holiday cheer and create belonging among distributed teams. The holidays may be one of the few times of year when the whole team gathers, and it is worth investing extra effort to make the occasion memorable for all attendees.

FAQ: Hybrid Christmas celebrations

Here are answers to common questions about hybrid Christmas celebrations.

What are hybrid Christmas celebrations?

Hybrid Christmas celebrations are gatherings that some guests attend in person, while other participants join via video call. The best versions of these gatherings involve activities that both remote and physical present participants can engage in, instead of merely livestreaming the in-person festivities for virtual partygoers to watch.

What are some good hybrid Christmas ideas for work?

Some good hybrid Christmas ideas for work include photo scavenger hunts, gingerbread decorating, Secret Santa, and wrap battles.

What are the benefits of a hybrid Christmas party?

The main benefits of hybrid Christmas parties are accommodating guests near and far, keeping costs down, and entertaining virtual and in-person attendees simultaneously. Hybrid events allow participants the power to choose which way to attend. For instance, parents with young children may find it easier to attend virtually, even if they live in the same city as their coworkers. Parties are also useful in case of winter weather, since guests can pivot to virtual attendance in case of snowstorms.

How do you throw a hybrid Christmas party?

To throw a hybrid Christmas party, first choose a date and time. If inviting guests across different time zones, then try to choose an hour that is convenient for as many attendees as possible. Next, send out invitations, and ask guests to RSVP with a note as to whether they plan to attend in-person or online so that you can get an accurate headcount and ready enough food and drinks. Plan to send out materials to virtual guests at least two weeks in advance. Sending care packages or stipends to remote guests can help make virtual partygoers feel more included.

Sending the virtual meeting link to all attendees is a good idea, in case of last minute plan changes. Secure, setup, and test your equipment for the event, for instance a virtual events platform, a projector, and a high-definition camera to livestream. Finally, meet up and enjoy your party.

10 Christmas Program Ideas For Church | Tithe.ly

Christmas is a time for family, friends, and – of course – the Church. It's not always easy to think of something creative to do after running countless Christmas programs. We’ve collected our favorite Christmas program ideas below to help you brainstorm.

christmas presentation ideas 2022

Christmas is a time for family, friends, and – of course – the Church. Given that the true meaning of the season is to celebrate the birth of Christ, many churches hold special Christmas programs to remind us of and share the significance of Jesus’ arrival over two thousand years ago.

But it's not always easy to think of something creative to do after running countless Christmas programs. You may even be out of new ideas and feeling stuck trying to come up with a Christmas program your church hasn’t seen before.

We’ve collected our favorite Christmas program ideas below to help you brainstorm.

10 Christmas Program Ideas for Church

Most churches do the usual Christmas Sunday worship service of singing Christmas songs and listening to a message on the significance of Christ’s coming. Some may even spice it up with a choir cantata or a play.

But if you want to do something entirely different this year, here are 10 Christmas program ideas to consider:

1. A Live Nativity Scene

One of the most traditional ways to celebrate Christmas is to reenact the nativity scene. You can have your congregation act it out, use puppets, or even integrate live animals if you feel extra festive. No matter how you choose to do it, a live nativity scene is always a beautiful way to remember what Christmas is truly about.

2. Hanging of the Greens Service

Another time-honored tradition is the "hanging of the greens" service, where members bring evergreen plants and wreaths to church as a symbol of our new life in Christ. The activity can be accompanied by music and Scripture readings. It's an excellent interactive Christmas program that everyone can participate in.

3. A Children's Pageant

A children's pageant is always a winner with kids and adults alike. Start with a Sunday school game where the children dress up as different Bible characters from the Nativity story, then have them strut their way into the sanctuary as part of the Christmas worship service. Parents will love seeing little ones perform, children will appreciate being part of a church-wide program, and everyone will get a kick out of the cuteness factor.

4. A Movie Night

Hold a movie night for church members to spend quality time with each other. You can choose classic movies like It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street or modern favorites like Elf or The Polar Express .

If you have ample parking space, you can even have a drive-in movie event, opening the screening to anybody in the neighborhood who wants to join. Don’t forget to start with a short message from the pastor to grab the opportunity to reach more people.

5. A Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Encourage your congregation to give back this holiday season by signing up to ring bells for the Salvation Army. This activity allows them to spread the meaning of Christmas while raising money for a good cause.

6. A Cookie Walk

While Christmas cookies are often associated with snacks for Santa Claus, turn the narrative around and hold a cookie drive for your members to bake and sell homemade cookies.

7. Social Media Christmas Challenge

Challenge your members to a 25-day Christmas challenge where they'll complete a task and post about it online. Some church Christmas social media ideas include reflecting on the Scriptures, sharing pictures of homemade gingerbread houses, or working at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter.

8. A Christmas Carol Sing-Along

Hold a sing-along and provide the lyrics for everyone to follow along (like how Chris Tomlin did it). You could even have a prize for the best singer!

9. A Toy Drive

A toy drive is a fantastic way for your church to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. You can team up with a local toy drive or have members donate toys to share with families in need. Alternatively, you can host a food or coat drive to give essentials to other families – effectively turning your Christmas program into an outreach .

10. A Christmas Potluck

Have a potluck dinner at your church, and encourage everyone to bring their favorite holiday dish. Members will form new friendships and bond over their love of food and community.

Ideas for Small Churches

The ideas above cover general Christmas programs. But if you're a small church with less than a hundred people, you have other options to consider. Here are three Christmas program ideas for small churches:

1. An Advent Wreath-Making Class

Advent wreaths are a beautiful way to count down the days until Christmas. So, why not hold a workshop at your church where members can make their own wreaths to take home?

Prepare the supplies and host a class to make advent wreaths together for your members. As they reflect on the meaning of Advent, encourage them to share how Christ's salvation has changed their lives for a meaningful Christmas program.

2. A Cookie Decorating Party

Instead of a cookie walk where you sell snacks, you can have your members decorate their own cookies at church. You can provide the cookies and frosting or have everyone bring their own. Doing so allows members to socialize, get into the holiday spirit, and even share cookies around the community to spread the Christmas message.

3. A Church-Wide Secret Santa

This classic Secret Santa activity will involve the whole church in giving and receiving gifts. Set a budget limit, have everyone draw names, and ask them to buy a gift for the person they get. Then, set a time for everybody to exchange gifts during the Christmas program. It's a great way to spread holiday cheer and make new friends!

Ideas for Christmas Eve Service

Most churches will have a Christmas Eve service on top of the Sunday morning service, where the program is dedicated to celebrating the holiday. If you’re wondering how you can create a different atmosphere for the evening service, here are three ideas:

1. A Night of Caroling

Gather your members and send them out to sing carols around the neighborhood. Visit houses and invite as many people as they can back to church. Once everybody's settled in and enjoying hot cocoa, your pastor can give a sermon on the true meaning of Christmas before the clock strikes midnight.

2. A Candlelight Service

Christmas Eve candlelight service ideas are a beautiful and peaceful way to celebrate Christmas. You can have a traditional service with hymns and readings or opt for a more contemporary service with modern worship songs. Either way, lighting candles is a powerful symbol of Christ's light coming into the world and bringing hope to all.

3. Christmas Handbell Choir

Handbell choirs are a beautiful way to add flair to your Christmas Eve service. They can perform Christmas carols while alternating with short messages from your pastor for a mix of singing and listening to God's word. Having the choir perform in between segments adds cheer and vibrance to your Christmas Eve service.

Christmas Themes for Church Program

Activities are a great addition to any church program, but a beautiful Christmas theme will tie it all together. You can spruce up the church with traditional Christmas decorations, but consider these unique themes for a different feel:

1. White Christmas Theme

For those churches in warmer climates, having a white Christmas may not be possible. But that doesn't mean you can't bring the magic of a white Christmas to your church!

Decorate your sanctuary with twinkling lights, snowflakes, and other wintery decorations. You can even have a fake snow machine to help create the illusion of a winter wonderland. Consider turning down the temperature and asking church members to wear winter clothes for the full "white Christmas" experience.

2. Bethlehem Theme

Bring the Nativity story to life with a Bethlehem theme decoration. Recreate the scene by setting up a manger in the sanctuary, filling it with realistic animals, and spreading hay everywhere.

3. Advent Calendar Theme

Another great way to engage your church members during Christmas is by having an advent calendar. You can do this digitally or through a physical calendar that people can hang up in their homes.

Each day leading up to Christmas, your members will open a new door or window to reveal a different message, reading, or activity. Encourage them to complete the activity with their whole families.

Celebrating Christmas in Church

Christmas is a special time of year when many people come together to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. From traditional church services to more festive programs like caroling and cooking selling, Christmas is one of the most meaningful Christian holidays we celebrate in church.

No matter which activity you choose, the most important thing is that all your Christmas programs celebrate the birth of our Savior. As long as you get the key message across, everything else is just icing on the gingerbread house.

The Christmas Decor Trends That Will Be Huge This Year

Here's how everyone is decking their halls.

Early Decorations

holidays at the white house

"The Christmas trend I'm seeing is um— early ," says designer Jenny Brown. "I don't have a wreath yet and I'm being shamed by my neighbors!" It's true: with an early Thanksgiving, many took to breaking out the boughs before the end of November. This included the Bidens, who unveiled Christmas decorations in the White House earlier this week.

wood mantel with garland

Several designers point to natural decor as being de riguer this season. In a home by designer Lisa Hilderbrand, pinecones and dried leaves add just enough texture to the original 1903 mantel without detracting from the millwork.

Seeing Blue

blue door with garland

"I'm seeing lots of blue incorporated into the red and green this year," says designer Jennifer Barron. "Especially soft, blue ribbon." Next Wave designer Clary Bosbyshell made a statement with the hue in an elegant front door design created by Mary Delia Designs for Bosbyshell's own home. There's no better first impression!

Al Fresco Celebration

outdoor christmas setup

Niki Papadopoulos of Mark Williams Design predicts a turn to the outdoor this season: "I'm seeing a lot more focus on the exterior decor this year," she says. "More lights, more garlands, etc!" Lisa Hilderbrand nailed this look with garlands draped over her outdoor dining pavilion and wreaths acting as centerpieces.

Unconventional Colors

christmas decor modern

"I've seen lots of non-traditional colors being used for Christmas this year," says House of Drennan founder Rebecca Bridges. Designer Nikki Klugh is no stranger to this look—she selects a different scheme for her tree each year. Pictured is a blue-and-gold palette from a few years ago.

Muted Tones

neutral interior with christmas tree

"I'm predicting rust and burgundy over red, with natural wood accents," says Marie Flanigan. Designer Kelly Deck turned to burgundy, copper, and warm wood to create an elegantly festive vibe in the home of Kimberly Jones.

Velvet Touches

china room white house

Designer Shawna Underwood is looking to touches of velvet ribbon incorporated with ornaments this year. Emily Sturgess agrees: "I'm seeing a return to classics like red velvet ribbon, candles in the window, and tartan on the table," she says. We love the oversized velvet bows adorning one of three trees in the White House's China Room for the season.

Tribello Christmas Garage Door Decor

We'd be remiss not to mention one final trend that's already taken TikTok by storm: Christmas Garage Door Decor (read more about it here ). Because if there's ever a time to really go all out and decorate every surface of your home, this is it.

A new holiday season is upon us, so it’s time to dust off the decorations and usher in the Christmas spirit. As in years past, the focus remains on spending meaningful time at home with family and friends. There is a yearning for the good old days, yet many are craving new beginnings.

These desires are reflected in holiday decor that is both modern and meaningful, combining family traditions with current trends. Today’s decorations feature new colors, shapes, and styles, yet take inspiration from familiar sources, such as nature, vintage glamour, and understated elegance. Discover this year’s trends in holiday decor, and get ready to deck the halls like a pro for Christmas 2022.

RELATED: 20 Surprising Stories Behind Popular Christmas Decorations

Paper Decorations

Given the general trend toward using more sustainable materials in the home, it’s no wonder that paper decorations are popping up everywhere. Eco-friendly and easy to DIY, paper options include folded stars, accordion Christmas trees, cut-out ornaments, chain garlands, and even tinsel made of multi-colored paper. For a magical touch, consider hanging DIY snowflake garlands in a window or doorway, or skip the DIY with these strings of paper snowflakes available on Amazon. You’ll even find sustainable wrapping options with recyclable paper, like this recyclable wrapping paper from Hallmark available on Amazon.

A New Take on Traditional Colors

While red and green will always be popular at Christmastime, color variations abound. Some design-oriented decorators are choosing to skip the green and stick to classic red and white decor. Others may opt for lighter takes on traditional tones, such as sage greens, pops of pink, and glistening rose gold—easy to add through top-rated ornaments like these rose gold shatterproof ornaments on Amazon. Blues are flourishing too, with Victorian era blue-and-white china inspiring layered blues mixed with winter white.

Nostalgic Accents

Our hectic lives have brought about a nostalgia for simpler times, and this is reflected in the trend of holiday decor that nods toward yesteryear. Keep an eye out for ceramic Christmas trees, like this multicolored tabletop Christmas tree from Amazon. Tinsel-strewn trees with faux snow-covered branches, and shiny ornaments in pastel hues provide more blasts from the past. This year, expect vintage Santa statues, nutcrackers, and holiday villages to grace sideboards while velvet and plaid bows decorate the tree. You can even wrap your gifts like your grandparents did with reusable wrapping options, like this red and white reusable fabric gift wrap available on Amazon.

Neutral, Nature-Inspired Decor

Team real tree already lives this, but even faux tree fans can participate in this one! The best artificial Christmas tree , wreaths, or garlands can be taken to the next level by integrating pine cones, acorns, berries, and twigs. Forested foliage and natural extras can add organic charm to table settings. Amp up the texture by choosing pampas grass for a natural centerpiece or wreath, and create pomanders with oranges and whole cloves for a natural holiday scent.

Cozy at Home

During the pandemic, families were forced to find ways to make quality time at home more comfortable and enjoyable. Even now, people continue to prioritize spending more meaningful time together during the holidays. This craving for homey comfort is showing up in dreamy, cozy decor—think tons of tea lights, string lights , snow globes, and cozy throw blankets, like this velvet throw blanket on Amazon. This trend’s color schemes include winter whites and comforting neutrals. Don’t forget the family PJs.

Holiday Mantelscapes

Mantel decor has long been a focus of holiday decorating. Current trends include greenery or garlands made from materials such as felt balls, wood, or pom-poms. We like this easy-to-hang tassel and pom-pom garland on Amazon. Rather than arranging everything consistently across the mantel, try the trend of creating an asymmetrical design. Complete the tableau with stockings hung to one side and accents of twinkle lights, loosely draped ribbon, fruit, and candles. A wreath or holiday painting above the fireplace provides a focal point, and a cozy pillow or sheepskin rug in front of the hearth welcomes lounging.

Subtle Touches

For those overwhelmed by too many holiday knickknacks, understated elegance is the way to go. Minimalists will love this trend, exemplified by casually draped, unornamented greenery and tasteful metallic accents, like these gold-tone copper reindeer figurines available on Amazon. To embrace this approach, choose small touches that blend in rather than stand out. Scale back the usual decor by opting for a half-wreath on a wire ring, knit stockings without embellishment, and consider a Charlie Brown Christmas tree ornamented with neutral-colored decorations.

Vintage Glamour

A trend toward vintage glam decor will appeal to decorators who love anything but subtle—think glammed-up grandma. Achieve a pearl-like shimmer through the use of beads, mirrored accents, and crystals. Make sure to integrate feathers, ribbons, and florals into the Christmas tree decor, and don’t skimp on the ornamentation. For colors, opt for metallics, whites, and soft pinks, like these pink mercury glass finial ornaments on Amazon.

Cone-Shaped Trees and Gonks

The exaggerated cone shape is showing up in modern Christmas decor in the form of tall, narrow trees and the elongated hats of gonks, fuzzy fabric renditions of gnome-like creatures found in Nordic and Scandinavian mythology, like these dangle-leg shelf sitters from Amazon. Arrange a cluster of tiny bristle-brush trees on the mantel or sideboard to create a magical cone-shaped forest, then slip in a few gonks to bring a bit of whimsy to the scene.

Brass Bells

Decorative bells will make an appearance in this year’s trendy Christmas stylings. While bells are a traditional holiday accent, the newest options take on a more organic cowbell shape, hung by rope or jute, like this string of rustic cowbells from Amazon. Whether oversize or miniature, sleek or rustic, bells can be used on the mantel, in the middle of a wreath, at the ends of a draped garland, or simply as wall hangings.

Decorative Accents Throughout the Home

Christmas decorations are no longer relegated to the entryway and living room. Subtle accents are popping up in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. Consider adding a festive touch to these rooms with holiday textiles like this reversible Christmas bedspread with two festive patterns available on Amazon. Kids especially will love having garland-draped bookshelves or their own small Christmas tree in the corner of the bedroom.

Rainbow Bright

Shoppers eager to add cheer will find plenty of bright colors to deck their halls—not only traditional holiday hues, but all the colors of the rainbow, both matte and metallic. Take up the fun a notch with multicolored ornaments and a contemporary look for your dining table, like this tabletop neon Christmas tree on Amazon. Look out for felt garlands, color changing light strings, and brightly colored artificial trees.
