Background Maths anxiety is defined as a feeling of tension and apprehension that interferes with maths performance ability, the manipulation of numbers and the solving of mathematical problems in a wide variety of ordinary life and academic situations. Our aim was to identify the facilitators and barriers of maths anxiety in university students. Method A scoping review methodology was used in this study. A search of databases including: Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Embase, Scopus, PsycInfo, Medline, Education Resources Information Centre, Google Scholar and grey literature. Articles were included if they addressed the maths anxiety concept, identified barriers and facilitators of maths anxiety, had a study population comprised of university students and were in Arabic or English languages. Results and discussion After duplicate removal and applying the inclusion criteria, 10 articles were included in this study. Maths anxiety is an issue that effects ma...

We all have seen people having problems with maths or numbers in general. Maybe we are one of them. This study is to determine the level of internal and external factors resulting in Math Anxiety among people and the effects of it. This study is to determine if the internal and external factors increasing anxiety level in people for mathematics. The purpose of the study also is to help people to cope-up with this particular anxiety and perform better in maths and help them to gain confidence in their ability to apply maths skills successfully, so that they can begin to face the challenges associated with maths and move forward.

The construct of mathematics anxiety has been an important topic of study at least since the concept of "number anxiety" was introduced by Dreger and Aiken (1957), and has received increasing attention in recent years. This paper focuses on what research has revealed about mathematics anxiety in the last 60 years, and what still remains to be learned. We discuss what mathematics anxiety is; how distinct it is from other forms of anxiety; and how it relates to attitudes to mathematics. We discuss the relationships between mathematics anxiety and mathematics performance. We describe ways in which mathematics anxiety is measured, both by questionnaires, and by physiological measures. We discuss some possible factors in mathematics anxiety, including genetics, gender, age, and culture. Finally, we describe some research on treatment. We conclude with a brief discussion of what still needs to be learned.

Since most fields depend on using mathematical thinking, mathematics is a crucial component of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education (Rozgonjuk et al., 2020). Mathematics is a crucial part of STEM education because it offers the structure and resources required for logical thinking, problem-solving, and quantitative analysis. Students obtain a solid foundation that positions them for success in various scientific and technological fields by integrating mathematics with other STEM topics (Senajonon, 2013). Mathematically proficient individuals will have more choices and options to shape their future in this rapidly changing environment (Delgado Monge et al., 2017). After realizing the value of mathematics and its role in fostering economic growth, driving innovation, addressing skills gaps, advancing scientific research, promoting problem-solving skills, and ensuring an inclusive and equitable society, governments allocate significant funds to STEM education. This is done to develop a skilled and capable workforce that can tackle future challenges and contribute to the overall progress of their nations (Aosi et al., 2019). Although there have been improvements made to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, some students still have difficulty with mathematics due to the fear of it, which is, in fact, regarded as a key aspect and bedrock within STEM professions (Salahot, 2022) Math anxiety, which is defined as feelings of fear, tension, or apprehension that arise when individuals are faced with mathematical tasks or situations, is acknowledged as one of the major factors that can contribute to poor performance in mathematics. It affects people of all ages, from elementary school students to adults, in professional

The purpose of the research was to identify the existence of anxiety towards mathematics in high-school students. A quantitative, non-experimental and descriptive study was carried out. The sample was made up by 353 high school students from the city of Rioverde S.L.P. of which 164 were men and 189 were women. A non-probabilistic sampling was used. The Auzmendi test was applied and using only the data corresponding to anxiety. The results indicate that 15.3 % of students present a low level of anxiety, 68.6 % a medium level and 16.1 % a high level, which means that a large number of students feel anguish towards this discipline.
